MD ~ Glad your meltdown didn't last long, sounds like you had a great dinner party! - the christmas party is a sit down dinner so i will be dusting off my high heels for the first time in...wow...sooo long! This year we have all the usual boring stuff in the garden, pumpkins, tomatoes (roma & cherry), beets, carrots, snow peas, watermelons, strange looking lettuce, spinach, heaps of herbs like, garlic chives, parsley, dill, sage, rosemary... nothing v. exciting though.. i have never tried growing potatoes & mini eggplants sound great, may have to try that! MmMm all of a sudden i want a salad. LOL.

ETA: Whoops i type too slow, Ag ~ I have heaps of friends who work in daycare that would never leave a bub crying by themselves & they have a hard time putting the babies down LOL but everywhere is different, If Scarlet ever goes to daycare i will be thoroughly snooping around the place!

OMG MD, that was horrible. Agree with you, dont ever go back there. That's one of the thing that makes me hesitate of going back to work. At the same time, I need to work to get my 'sanity' back iykwim, and the money of course.
Hhmm perhaps I need to find more info on FDC ... and put that as another option.

Btw, just borrowed the 100 ways book. Have read a couple of pages and so far it's really good!

Agnes, I think you get a strong idea by visiting the centre/carer whether they will be right for you or not. We had one FDC lady that wasn't right & I knew it from the start, but I was desperate for care and couldn't wait. But I knew from the very beginning in my innards that it wasn't quite right and sure enough DD was not happy there. We found another (excellent) carer after that.

CS mummies ~ Are you all fully recovered from the op? I'm so happy with my incision scar, when i look at it i can't believe Scarlet come out of there...It's only 9.5 cms long (i measured) lol.
I'm stoked with the way it has healed, it looks kind of like a cat scratch & it's fading more every week.

to everyone that asked Asha did settle down and drink more phew!! poor little poppet is just very uncomfortable i think... last night she was so exhausted i put her in bed at 9 and she fell asleep eventually lol i dream fed her at 12 and she drank her whole bottle (i was one relieved mummy at that point!) and then she slept until about quatre to 6 when i brought her in bed with me and she fed again when dp got home at about 7:30 she seems happier this morning so fingers crossed!!
agnes - if you get a good centre where the carers genuinly like the children and thats what they are there for than yes they will rock them and pat them and whatever it takes to get them to sleep and pick him up whenever he cries you just have to make sure you really trust that the people are there because they really love kids and u can tell by just watching their demenor with the kids... some workers are there but really dnt want to be its horrible but most are great and loving sorry if this adds to your worries i am just saying after working in childcare id go in multiple times some unannounced to check out what i thought of the workers that would be with my child as well as considering fdc its alot more personal hth...

LP - i hope everything goes well for you today. Make sure you show them your vegie garden - IMO anyone who has a thriving vegie patch is organised, has plenty of patience and is incredibly nurturing :)
Agnes - when i used to work in childcare i used to love rocking the babies to sleep (i was the director so could go in and help out) It does depend though, because if all 8 babies decide to cry at once, it makes it a bit tricky. Usually they will follow the routine that you have in place at home. A friend of mine put her bub into FDC. She checked out a few centres, and a couple of family day carers until she found the one that she felt most comfortable with.
md - poor hannah isn't going to know what her real name is - she gets soo many different names each day.

LOL we had to do an emergency run into Cotton On Kids for some little leggins as little porky E is getting Too Fat (!) for her 000s. Crack up because I read the label for 000s and it said 62cm (which she is) and 6 kg but E is well over 6.5kg :) Like the MCHN said, "not bad for an exclusively Bfed baby" PMSL. So glad Asha settled down, sometimes it just seems like the day is never going to end!

LP - lucky you with a lovely scar. Mine's disgusting,*TMI alert* I've got an overhang and it still sometimes gets a bit funky and smelly. It still hurts sometimes (on the inside) when I get up out of bed. The (young) dr I saw obviously thought it was gross too because she told me I could get it tidied up later on (dermoplasty). I don't really mind though, small price to pay for my beautiful E, and when you think about it, our bodies are pretty amazing that they can grow these precious people for us!

ETA, speaking of Hannah's not knowing their real names (LOL) DD1 announced on Sunday that henceforth we are to address her by her full title Your Royal Highness Princess Anna or just (because we're family) Princess Anna :cryinglaugh:!

ETA: Fianne, I just wanted to thank you for mentioning the hunger-overtiredness cycle. I think that's why E has been so unsettled these past few days - overtired and clearly not feeding enough. Have been topping up feeds since the penny dropped and she's doing much better. Thanks. xx

DH is better. He's staying in quarantine until tomorrow though to make sure us girls don't get it.

K has woken up from both naps screaming this morning. She's obviously still tired and I've put her back down when she's calm, but she really doesn't want to sleep

My scar looks all right. I still have a bit of an overhang. Mine's 13cm long - heaps more than yours LP. Still waiting for the linea nigra to fade though.

I've got K in some 00 pants today. I have to pull them up so high so her feet come out the bottom, but we really didn't have anything left for her to wear.

Ozstar - hope the weigh in goes well today.

LP - hope DOCS goes well. I'm sure they will be very impressed with all you have done for them already.

went shopping today and basically finished up everything phew!! just needa put in some photos to be developed and that will be all but i need dp to help me chose them so yeah...
went with my mum who bought Ash a dress from pumpkin patch, some pink dunlop vollies (sooooo cute!!) and a dress from cotton on kids (one just opened in blacktown yay) i also got ash a my dad rocks jump suit that she can wear on his bday which is this saturday shhhhh dnt tell him haha...
i have a package waiting at the post office could be one of two things a book or my new nappy bag (lol a new one already i know but i couldnt resist) mums just driven up there now to pick it up incase its the bag n in a box to carry...
md - thats sooo cute the princess ann thing lol.. thats great the H is so healthy and chubby well done!!
jazmum - i think Asha probably things her name is cranky franky at the moment lol coz thats what shes been getting the most

Noni Logan has blue dunlops, they are just the cutest. He wears them when we go out, I dont think they will fit for very long.

MD had to laugh at Princess Anna, thats so cute.

Agnes in the centres I have worked in we always pat all the kids to sleep unless the parents dont want us to because it isnt the childs usual routine. We never let the babies cry either, actually we were usually always cuddeling the babies so they never got a chance to cry lol. Just look around and spend as long as you can at each centre. I love FDC and would choose that if I was putting Logan into care.

Well the weigh in was great. He has put on 450g in one week, thats right almost half a kg. He is definitley thriving.

cally - great news that your dh is feeling better. Hopefully he'll be perfect in time for eating lots at christmas.
noni - how exciting getting a package in the mail!! Sounds like your mum just loves spoiling Asha.:)
cranky franky is a good one. Sometimes Hannah gets 'bubbabooba', and ' hanbanan' as well.
md - what has led your Hannah to wanting to be referred to as royalty?

well the girls have made me one piece of wrapping paper -they got a tad distracted when a frilly lizard , who we call Lizzy Maguire, jumped in our pool and remained there for about half an hour!! Lucky we've got some store bought wrapping paper in the cubboard!!

eta - whoa katie - that's a huge amount. well done Logan!!!

forgot to say the other day my dads g/f went hunting through her jewellery box and amongst a no joke $10,000 diamond that used to be a hat pin and belong to her grandmother she has all these ruby saphire emerald and diamond pieces of jewellery that shes been given over the years and dosn't like lol.. she dosn't wear gold and prefers non precious stones like turqoise lol so as she was going through it all she found a saphire and diamond ring that she has given me because i have a saphire and diamond pendant i got for mothers day (saphire being Ashas birth stone) i bought some jewellery cleaner today and cleaned it its beautiful :)
jazmum - yep my mum cant help spoiling Asha i like it when i am there and can direct her spoiling into practical things like clothes!!! cranky franky was dps invention lol its very suitable lately although she was dishing out the smiles today while we were out think she just prefers being out with so much to look at :)
katie - yay go logan!!! great to hear hes going so well!!! i couldnt resist the shoes lol well my mum bought them but i was looking for them after i saw lorelei waring them the other night when they came over.. i was like i didn't know you could get shoes to fit and then i was on a bit of a mission to find them lol..

OMG shoes??? We can't even get socks to stay on E's feet (kicks em around too much like the regular little Donkey Child she is LOL).

Jazmum, she has a book about how to be a princess, I bought it thinking the table manners part might rub off on her (LOL) but she loves it. It includes stuff like how to do secret messages with your lacy fan when you're at the royal ball, etc. How girly is that!

Cally, good to hear DH is better now, just don't let him go swimming for a couple of weeks!

Noni, that's lovely that you're getting jewels - v.meaningful for Ash's birth stone too.

sorry havent been on much - i have read but not posted as i have had a busy few days. i finally have a few mins to myself now as noah is sleeping - or should i say napping
we spent last night in hospital with N - until 1am... he had a reaction to the vaccinations the poor thing - was v scary - high temp and fast breathing. he is doing a lot better today though so i am relieved.
oh gotta go - sorry no time for personals my little darling has woken up!

DOCs visit went well...
actually i'm pretty annoyed, they didn't seem to care at all, I think i could have told them the girls were sleeping in cardboard boxes under the house & I have been locking them in a cupboard for 12 hours a day & they wouldn't have even blinked, They kind of seemed bored & one kept checking her watch constantly, They asked us a billion questions off a clipboard & weren't even waiting for the answers before they ticked whatever box they felt like ticking.

Scarlet has been a lil ratbag all this arvo again ~ I think she's going through the 3mth thing.

well it was my new nappy bag!! its a gr8x mistique lol its an older one it was on spesh coz they have bought out a newer one with just the pattern on the front where as this one has the pattern all over it... the bottle holder clips on so you dnt take up space inside the bag with it as does a small little thing for dummies so ur not rummaging through your bag to find them brilliant idea imo!!
lp docs are overworked n full of cases that wld make ur skin crawl i am sure when they come sumwhere like ur place they feel like they are wasting their time on something that isnt as important iykwim? i am not trying to insult you just saying you sound like you have a lovely home and safe environment for the kids n they are spending their time at your place rather than helping out some poor abused child...
pregpan - poor little noah!!! what are you going to do re immunisations now? glad hes doing better now

We had our last swimming for the year today. I will miss it, it is the only day of the week he will have a decent day sleep lol. I can't believe christmas is less than a week away. At this stage it will only be DH, W and I. I don't think we are doing anything on the day, we are going to a friends house on Sunday for dinner but that is all we have planned.

Pregpan - Oh my goodness poor Noah! Glad to hear he is all ok. Must have been so scary for you guys. :(

Hayley - Glad to hear the docs visit went well. Its a shame that they didnt seem to care though. I've heard alot on the news lately about children dying that had been overlooked by docs, very very sad. I've just started a vegie garden too!

Hey I'm another ex childcare worker here! All this talk about childcare is scaring me though. :( I've just finished completing Maddies enrolement form, she will be attending two full days a wk, Mon & Tues. God I'm so in two minds about it, but at the end of the day, we really have no choice, we really need some extra money. I feel terribly guilty. I've filled out the form about 'telling us more about your baby' and I put pls dont rock/pat to sleep, trying to enourage her to sleep on her own. However now I'm thinking they will just let her cry it out....which is not what i want at all. How do I explain that I just want her put down with the dummy to see how she goes, but if she is not settling, they can pick her up and soothe her? Does that sound silly? Will they even have that much time to spend on my child when they have heaps of other babies to tend to? This whole childcare bizzo is really starting to upset me.

On another note, Maddie and I went to a friends house tonight to catch up with all the girls. As I arrived a couple of them were on their way to the bottle o to get some drinks, they pulled up next to me, and tried to get me to get in the car and just place Maddie on my lap!!!! Absolute madness, and i'm actually quite peeved about it, do they really think I'd be stupid enough to do such a thing!?

Is any one else noticing the whole 'whoa I dont know who this person is' freak out? The last wk or so Maddie has been bursting into tears if someone she doesnt know too well picks her up. Poor bub, she gets so worked up, she's even getting tears down her face. Another reason why i'm worrying about childcare.

Whoa Hayley your up late too!! Rory went from settling himself at 4 weeks onwards (once his head hit the pillow he was out like a light) to needing to be cuddled almost every time before bed. At first I was worried about it but I just remember JaZmum's & Sherie's (I think it was Sherie??) posts about making the most of it, because they grow up so fast. ...It keeps me sane LOL! Oops getting off track a bit! But if you just explain to them like you have just done to us it should be fine. You will feel better about it if you put everything down, HEY write a 2 page note on how you want her to be looked after, atleast you know you have it in writing for them.
Ive had a few people suggest I just put Rory on my lap too! Its suprising how many people just dont understand the danger of doing that!

God im so busy this weekend! Saturday we have got a Christmas party lunch and then a christmas party dinner. Sunday ive got another Christmas party lunch and we have a christmas dinner in the evening. Ohhhhh! Im looking forward to it but I know im going to be exhausted. For some unknown reason I offered to make trifle for 3 of the parties.....Its going to be impossible!

thanks for the wishes about poor Noah - he is doing OK now and so are his parents!!! I have notices he has been alittle bit spewy since them - is this a normal reaction? he has just had a few spews - not every feed (and i am feeding him a LOT) so I am not too concerned but thought i'd check to maike sure he isnt ill. With regard to the next vaccines - well they tell me to go ahead with them as normal but know he reacts (and as he will have antibodies already the reaction may be strionger) so give him panadol before and lots of monitoring... me, I am in 2 minds about this. I was already nervoius about it as i had a reaction to them when i was little...and now this happened... Poor boy. the main thing was the temp - the breathing i think was misdiagnosed as the resp rate they said was really fast and then he was normal by the time the 2nd dr in the critical care (not ICU just thje bit behind emergency) saw him. in fact he was cooing and laughing and playing - we ended up with a crowd of drs and nurses who wanted to play with him - i thin kworking in that environment it was nice for them to see a happy and healthy baby! i dont know what to do really - i guess i have 2 mnths to work it out. ia m off to the gp later today anyway to have him checked to make sure he is ok still so i will talk to him about it.
Today is DH bday - it is so much harder plan things for him now we have Noah. I go tup v early - iced the cake i made him to take to work and made him pancakes in bed. i had ti all timed around feeding Noah but of course he slept in late til 8am today! so my whole schedule was thrown off. I dressed him ina DAD ROCKS top to say Happy Bday to DH! he was gorgeous laughingand chatting to DH is bed - soooooooooooooooo cute! I cant believe chg in our life since DH last bday - we were off to Cuba and Caymans then, living in London, not preg yet etc etc. wow.
Hayley (LP) - glad DOCS went well, it is disappointing they are not v thorough when they have such an important job to do. but i am glad you dont have anything to worry about. i am still in awe of you.
Noni - glad u like your new bag! i also got a new one last week - another Oi Oi - gorgeous moroccan design, matches my pram perfectly!
We chgd our pram around last night fromt he basinette to the stroller (which goes in 3 possies so he can still sleep in it lying down) - I am IN LOVE with it!! I wish it wasnt so rainy so i could walk around all day LOL!
OK better go - a few jobs to do while N is napping.

i know what you mean about your life being totally different, i am packing right now to go away to sydney for xmas and i can't get my head around all the stuff i have to take. organising myself, dp, lewis and the dog is too much! i don't know how some of you ladies with multiple kids do it!
i was the one who bought the bonds easysuits- do you find them hard to pull over noah's bum to change his nappy? maybe lewis just has a really big bum but i find the suit really hard to get over his bum. he already has cellulite all over it! i think he's turning into a mini me!

Back again ladies - so sorry i haven't been around but preparing to drive south for christmas which is 3 days from ALice - aaggh! I am hoping the little chickadee goes ok - she usually travels ok in seat but has never had to do it for that long!
She is having great days at moment with sometimes a couple of 40min naps but often a couple 3.5-4hr stints between feeds. BUt nights have been awful lately. SHe has slept once through the night in her little life. ANd was usually waking once around 1-2am but the last week she has been waking at least twice. WIth last nights effort after going down at 7pm she woke at bout 1am, 4am and then 7am. I am buggered and not sure what to do about it. I am hoping its a growth thing and/or just the humidity/heat. Not normally humid here but had storms hanging around for the last week. SHe used to wake up once during the night which i was happy with as meant i didn't have to get up to express. What do i do? Can't really do much till after the drive and holiday with family I guess - hopefully that will be enough to change her anyway?! Thankfully we are both flying back and DH is driving back with 3 other people earlier.
Any ideas. I hope you all have a great christmas. Sorry i haven't written back/responded to all your posts since i last wrote - jusst wading through them all now.

Speaking of multiple kids, I was watching a show on foxtel about a family with 1 x set of twins (both girls) and 1 x set of Sextuplets (3 boys & 3 girls)!!!!! Geeez you would kiss you sleep goodbye for the first 2/3 years!!! It was inspiring though :)

Asha was playing on her play mat on her tummy.. shes like a little cattarpillar lol legs up head and chest up but middle down trying to move forward lol.. she was all happy and then she started screaming and i ran over and shed spewed everywhere and faceplanted in it and had it all iver her face and in her eyes!!! poor thing lol once i cleaned it off she was fine but now ive just got her lying on her back lol..
gotta go to the shops today to order dps birthday cake etc etc...
re christmas business i have dps birthday on sat (pregpan i was just saying i bought a my dad rocks jump suit to put asha in that day haha) then christmas with my mums family sunday then monday dps dads family tuesday my dads side of the family and wednesday dps mums side of the family then thursday dps supposed to be working busy busy!!!

Just rewarded myself for walking to the shop with a king size choccie, no wonder i can't lose this extra 5kg .lol.

Scarlet is doing the strangest things with her body, she's like a little contortionist - They did tell me before i left hospy not to worry if she does funny things with her legs because as she was frank breech & will probably have double jointed hips but it's still freaky looking... She could join the circus :D.

I'm such an idiot, I bought DF's chrissie pressie off ebay & I'm STILL waiting for it - I really reeeeeally hope it's here before christmas but it doesn't look like it.

LP, I use the little swimmers and I got a little UV proof tee-shirt and shorts swim set. We go to an inside pool but he is less slippery with clothing to hold onto.
Apparently you can wash the little swimmers and reuse them, as long as the leg part is still fitting snuggly. They are really only for number 2's so if you go, don't pre-dress her in them before you go or you might end up with a wet car seat.

Thanks art ~ I probably would have pre-dressed her! I'm taking her swimming for the first time this weekend, I hope she likes it :)

lp u can buy banana boat baby sunscrean i have used it on ash and she was fine :) it comes in a small roll on pink container..
