Weddings - DH and I were living together and said hey lets get married. He was 23 and I was 28. We were married in Aug 2000 and have been together for 11 years this year (doesnt feel that long). Yes I am a craddle snatcher. hehehehehe. When we first met I knew he was the one.

Well DH and I are going out tonight for my cousins 18th birthday dinner and Grandmas coming over to babysit. Yipppeee looking forward to eating with not having to run around after kids.

dp and i got together on his 17th bday and his 22nd bday still passed we did have a period in there where we broke up for about a month but we dnt include it lol..
had a good day today went and saw an old friend from work it was really good.. now if dp would just be nice to me itd be perfect :(

Oh Cally hun I really hope K settles for you - you must be worn out. We've had lots of unusual staying-awake behaviour from E this last week - harder to pick the tired signs and a lot more protesting (read: hysterical crying) about going to bed too. A few times I've just shoved her on the boob cause I just can't think what else to do, it works about 80% of the time.

Leanne, I'm sure you'll enjoy your evening out. You could call it cradle snatching or maybe you were just smart enough to score yourself a toy boy! LOL

Man I really wish my body wasn't so creaky and sore, there's a kick-ass party going on about three gardens away and they are playing ALL my favorite dancing music (!) Makes me wish I could put on my dancin shoes and head out for some boogying....but still having problems with my back and hips post-pg and the way I groove I'd put myself in a wheelchair. They don't warn you your whole body might fall apart from having a baby, do they? Good incentive though to start expressing and storing...anyone else storing EBM?

Arte I just love your ticker pic of Will....so adorable.

MD I have been storing some EBM, I dont have much though as I dont seem to have a lot of milk. I have been expressing to build up my supply and then freezing it so I have some stored. I try and put Logan on the boob when he is unsettled too, it used to work but he doesnt seem to get much now.

I just found out that both my dad and DH's dad are getting married this year. We had planned on trying to save this year and not doing any trips to Sydney.... guess that plan is going out the window now.

Katie, just get them to plan their weddings a week apart so you can just do the one trip LOL! Glad Logan sounds happier today.

Noni, glad you had a nice day. DPs and DHs can be a bit dense sometimes. I read this book about getting them to do what you want them to - first you give them a compliment, then you ask for the behaviour you want, then when they do it, praise them again. Seriously this is foolproof, they get their ego stroked twice and you get what you want from them, everyone's happy LOL!

Man that party music is getting better & better! They were singing one of my all time sing along songs about 15 mins ago, I bet some neighbour rings up with a noise complaint soon (probably the same ones who did the barking complaint grrrrrr). Well it kept me entertained for a couple of hours anyway! :)

hello everyone, it is so hot in Melbourne atm!!! it is driving me crazy. i have basically not left the house today except to go to the supermarket to get food and to quickly take the dog up to the park. it's too hot to do anything!!!

Sherie- i wish you lived near me -i'd send my sparky dp over there to fix up your dodgy wiring quicksmart!! ha, that's sweet that your dh proposed at your 21st. what a beautiful time in your life that would have been...

Arte- are you going to join the weight loss challenge? i ate way too much today...oh well, back on the bandwagon tomorrow i guess...i know what you mean about Will talking to everything. Lewis does the same! in fact, some days he yells at everything...so funny. i think i may be losing some hair too. does yours come out in the shower? when i run out of undies, i wear dp's undies. gross i know!...and we use each others toothbrushes too...

md- i like the sound of your wedding. we are tossing up our options of what to do. funny, i haven't even got a ring yet!! we have 2 clothes horses. they are the best, but they make the lounge room look a bit ugly! i haven't been storing ebm but i do think i should start soon! i think i need a copy of that book about getting men to do what you want...ring, ring, ring....ok, i',m sounding desperate now..lol

hayley- don't feel bad about putting maddie in childcare- you are such an awesome mum! you'll have to let us know how she goes on monday. i'm sure she'll be fine, and you'll probably enjoy the social contact of being back at work.

cally- that's a very romantic proposal, i'm jealous! did your dh live far away from you? have fun shopping with your sister. does she know what she's having?

queenie- your wedding sounds amazing. i can't believe your mum made your dress! did you copy it out of a magazine or make up the design yourself? let us know how ella and abigail are doing. i miss her...sounds like your MIL is as much of a PITA as mine ggrrr. butt out!!

MD, I am another for the engaged at 21 club. We had been together for 3 years and knew that we were going to get married sometime, then DH brother had a car accident and was in a rehab center for head injuries so DH proposed so we could use the good news to help cheer up his family.

Oz, good to hear L settled back down. My ticker pic could have been cuter if the little bugger would smile for the camera lol. You ticker is cute too - W can't support himself on his tummy like that, he just flounders around like a fish out of water. I like MD's idea of getting them to have the weddings a week apart. My lovely cousin planned her wedding for a week after mine so that we didn't have to make an extra trip to NZ.

Gracie, I was going to do the weight loss challenge but I was too lazy to find a tape measure lol. I got back to my pre baby weight (which wasn't fantastic) about a month ago but can't seem to get rid of any more. I have dragged the exercise machine back inside though so that should help (if I use it!). My hair comes out in the shower, I lose a ton when I brush it, it even comes out if I just run my fingers through it.

We went up to the Eumundi markets yesterday. The news promised me overcast but it was boiling hot. There were throngs of people that I couldn't be bothered battling so we had something to eat and I had a camel ride, then we headed to Noosa for lunch.

W seems to be going through a bit of breast refusal. I suspect he just doesn't like the cradle hold (he cries if I try to lay him down when there are better things to do) so I gave him water out of a sippy bottle because I was worried about him dehydrating in the heat. He really liked it, kept pulling the bottle to his mouth for more.

Yesterday he started to pat the cat and dog (read: slap in the face). It was very cute and they take it very well. The cat isn't going to feel deprived of attention in a few months when W can crawl lol It is so sweet how much Will likes the dog, he sits on my lap and watches her all the time and has huge smiles if she comes over to see him.

Arte - I too dragged the exercise bike out with the intention of using it. So far its been two weeks and no action! I hope you can sort out the breast feeding hiccup, sorry I have no advice I can really offer when it comes to BFing as we only did it for the first few weeks. I really hope the second time around I can BF seeing now as I know more about it and know what to expect.

Gracie - The weather in Melb is very hot atm isnt it!? Mind you its going to be 40 here tomorrow, on Maddie's 1st day in childcare. :(

Katie - Two trips to Sydney, lucky you! My MIL just mentioned to me that they wanted to pay to take us to Melb for two weeks, but we cant because I'm starting at work again! Big bummer.

Leemar - How was the 18th party?

Oh noooo back to work tomorrow, so probably wont be on maybe until Wednesday....maybe not even Wednesday because I have to take DP to the airport. He is going to Brisbane for work, a holden car auction. Anyway I will try and get on, if not have a good week!!

Well I had a wonderful night but am suffering now. Both DH and I woke up with splitting head aches and man my bones are aching. MD- lol I was dancing last night and wow I am paying for it today my body is not what it use to be. hehehehehe.

good morning ladies. hot here again!! on the news they said there was going to be a cool change at 6am so i took all the washing off the line last night...and NOTHING!! it is just as hot here today. maybe even hotter. i hate the heat so much!! that's one of the reasons i wanted to live in Melbourne to avoid this weather ggrrr
Lewis kept me up all morning. he wakes up really really early- i'm not sure what the actual time is as we don't have a clock in our room, but i can tell you it's still dark...and he starts yelling and cooing and carrying on at the top of his lungs. he kicks and waves his arms around like he's having a party. then the bl**dy dog wakes up and comes in to see what all the commotion is and she gets excited and starts wagging her tail and jumping around and next thing you know there's a full fledge party going on at some ungodly hour!!! drives me insane....then it takes me ages to get back to sleep and then i get woken by the blistering heat.....sorry..vent over now...just very overtired and wish dp would come home to help me deal with it all..

arte- great to hear W is taking interest in the animals. i can't wait till L is big enough to actually play with the dog- take her out in the backgarden, throw the ball etc.- i know it's a few years away but it will be great for her to have someone to play with iykwim? she's definitely been neglected since L came along. we live on an acre block but do you think she actually uses any of her backgarden?? no. she hangs around the house all day like a big lazy cat.


hayley-- oohh sorry you have to work tomorrow and it's going to be 40! that sux...i ended up selling my treadmill on ebay cos it was gathering cobwebs and taking up space. i bought a coffee table and some pictures for the wall with the money!


leanne- it's funny how you can't party like you used to isn't it? dp and i are getting so old. we went out a few weeks ago to a pre xmas bbq and had a few too many drinks. i paid for it for about 3 days afterwards....oohh to be 19 again!

hope you all have a lovely day ladies. my house is filthy and i really want to clean it before dp gets home but i'm way too tired to deal with it so gonna go to dad's house and watch the cricket instead i think!

I hear you sister, that's exactly how I feel when DH goes away! Our lil fourlegged has his own doggie suite in the laundry, helps keep the early morning commotions down (plus he likes to sleep in anyway hehe don't we all).

Queenie, I didn't say how shocked I was at your MIL's comments, that is so over the line! Lucky my MIL doesn't dare say anything, #1 because she was a FDC lady for lots of kids for a long time in a not-terribly-educated part of the country (ie lots of holding tongue practice) but also because I'm BFing and she doesn't know the first thing about it so I'm kind of exempt from commentary. Hope you've well and truly seen the end of "peak crying" stage - it gets a lot more fun from here on!

still cant drag myself away from the computer even though i am doing my eyes damage lol oh well..
Ashas been drinking alot less sometimes lately but shes still hungry its really weird!! ive given her rice cereal (bellamys organic) a few times which she likes on and off (she only gets like one or two tea spoons every few weeks) and this morning i gave her some banana blended with boiled water (again only around 2 teaspoons) and she is really loving it lol i always give her formula first and like i said its at most once a week she gets something today she left 70mls in her bottle so gave her the banana and she got really excited lol.. she dosnt vomit on food the way she does on bottles though i guess that could be purely the difference in the amounts shes getting...
gracie - i am not enjoying the heat either strange for it to b so hot in melbourne i also thought about moving there to avoid the heat
leanne - shame about the headache but glad you had a good night out.. is olivia still having apples?

MD & Gracie *preen* thanks for support re MIL!! LOL - if she was actually DH's mother I'd almost be able to swallow some of it but noooo... hee hee, have to laugh sometimes! Gracie thanks for your lovely comments re wedding - made my day!! (That AAMI ad set in the jewellry store was on TV just now during the cricket and I thought of you...) My dress: I tried on heaps and heaps of dresses from several different designers to get an idea of what shapes, styles and colours suited me first (gee it was fun!). We found a pattern which had a good basic shape and made changes until we were happy with the shape & fit. The dress itself was simple and sleek and made to fit my body: Mum did the sewing and fitting and I hand-beaded sections and made the veil. Couldn't believe how much some of those dresses cost: between $2-4000, whereas my dress & veil cost less than $200 and was a one-off. That's a LOT of food & grog for guests, or towards a house deposit or baby stuff etc!I think everyone would've assumed it came from a couturier except that i was running around telling everyone "Look what my mum made!"

Hi Queenie- i really want to see 27 dresses too! your dress sounds amazing, and all for such a bargain price! funny you mention that aami ad- every time it comes on dp looks at me and grins...he loves messing with my head about it. it's turned into a bit of an on going joke between us now- like everytime we see a plane writing in the sky i say 'oh baby, of course i'll marry you' and we laugh. he reckons that when he does actually do it i'll say 'about f***ing time!'. he's right of course...

Hi Ladies ~ Skimmed through the posts but the words just wont stick in my head today...

I've been really stressed out, The girls mother some how got hold of my phone number & has been calling every 5-10 minutes since about 4am - I would take the phone off the hook only i feel bad for her, losing your kids must be horrific. The girls are at my brothers place for the weekend, so she can't speak to them anyway *sigh*...

Kitty update :( She had to have her tail almost completely amputated as we discovered that the dog that was chasing her must have actually grabbed hold of her & he tore the end of her tail clean off so that the bone was exposed & it was broken in 2 places up the top so now it's about 3 inches long - She's not a very happy cat. Thank goodness the floods went away, I couldn't get her to a vet & I was starting to get insanely worried.

This probably sounds ridiculous but.. It seems like Scarlet is starting to show heaps of interest in my dinner! DF had her on his lap the other day while he was eating cereal & she kept reaching for his bowl & spoon then she had a hissy fit because she couldn't get to it - She also has been wiggling, squirming & screamy everytime the girls start eating near her... her eyes go huge & she just looks like she so wants in on it all! Do they kind of let you know that they want food? Her bottle doesn't seem to satisfy her anymore, but she wont drink more milk. I want to hold off til atleast 5 months because before 6 months is bad, right? Argh! This stuff is hard! lol.

o0o0o We the paddle pool & took S for a swim yesterday, I have not been brave enough to go to the big pool yet... She loved it!

Gracie: The first thing i asked after i said yes was where the hell did you get that big box from!?!.. FIL is in the army & got it from the base, I don't know what they use them for... It must have taken DF a good 18hrs to wrap, He took 2 hours in the bedroom to wrap my christmas present, which wasn't very big & it sounded like he was wrestling it.

lp - everyone will tell you as does the world health organisation not to feed ur bub solids until 6mths.. all i will say is Asha is exactly the same as u are explaining lol staring ppl down for their dinner getting upset when she cant have it.. as i said in my previous post Asha has had rice cereal (bellamys organic) and now banana bledned with cooled boiled water.. she loves it i only let her have a couple of tea spoons of something around once a week or once every two weeks and she still stares us down for our food but she dosnt get as grumpy lol.. Asha is also getting a few teeth though so idk if that makes a difference, i know she loves the texture and coolness on her gums...
PLEASE KNOW THOUGH THE WHO DO NOT RECOMENT SOLIDS AT THIS AGE its just what i feel is best as a mum for my bub atm and if there was any sign of it not being ok i would remove them immediately..

Duh ~ I completely missed your previous post noni... I'm a bit ditsy today, lol @ asha staring you down for your food, It would feel really nice on her gums, Scarlet has a little white bump up there but it isn't bothering her yet. idk... I guess i'll leave it for as long as i can stand the tanty's but i don't think we'll last til the 6 month mark, She's also still off the scales for height & weight so maybe that has something to do with it?

LP, babies are curious little creatures and are like sponges and just take it all in, learning all the time, so try not to confuse her excitedness at seeing people eat or her complaints when she can't get a bowl or spoon as signs that she is ready for solids. They are also great mimics, so if you see her making similar mouth actions as you do when you eat, that's also not a sign that she wants solids, but that she is just mimicing your actions - similar to when we pull faces at them or poke our tounges out and they do the same. They also need to have lost the protrusion reflux too (where they poke their tounge out - you might notice it just as you put the bottle teat in her mouth). The big thing about not starting solids early is that their gut is simply too immature to deal with solids and their intestinal tract has trouble dealing with the extra bulk - possibly causing bowel issues. Another problem that can arrise down the track is that by giving solids early, you may increase the risk of severe food allergies. Plus there is also the added hassle of the mess, food preparation etc so why rush that LOL! For the record though, I started Lindsay at 4mths simply because back then it was the recommendation for FF babies to be started on solids by then, but that has also changed now so it is a blanket recommendation. The girls were a bit older when they started. The most important thing to remember though is that when first starting solids it is all about introducing different tastes and textures, and not as a meal - so it wont solve the problem if you think the bottles just aren't cutting it anymore. And milk is still the most important dietary requirement for the first 12mths too. That said, you know your baby best and and the end of the day you will do what you think is best for her. I just wanted to fill you in on some of the finer points of it all. I wont be starting Alister till well over 6mths if I can, as he already has ezcema, which is a possible indication of future food allergies/intolerances.

I'm really sorry to hear about your kitty too. Poor thing, but she must be starting to feel so much better now. And bugger about the girls' Mum. I know she would be suffering, but gees, look at what the girls had to put up with, she hardly has a right to complain.

You know, I only just clicked that some of you are going 4mth needles. Here I was reading about Katie and Logan and I was blissfully ignorant LOL. Then I realised what was going on and I though oh Crap! when am I going to fit that in this month!

Does anyone else's bub have like a wake up routine first thing in the morning? For ages Alister wakes up and just lifts his legs up and down for ages, farting all the way LOL - it's so funny to lay there and listen to him tear them off - just like his father (but without the leg lifts ;) ).

We went out for tea last night with friends of ours and gee it was nice. We hadn't done it for so long. We just went to the pub for a counter tea, but they have a kids play area and they played all night, so naturally we stayed out longer LOL because they weren't wanting to go home.

Sherie LMAO at Alisters farts. Logan doesnt have a routine but always wakes up smiling.

LP sounds like you need a nice massage or warm bath.....anything to help you relax. You are doing such a great job and seem to be handeling everything so well.

LP, I second everything Sherie said about solids! Is the bump where her lower tooth should be - I ask because E had some white lumps a while back and it turns out they get white fluid cysts on their gums that go away. They felt really hard like a tooth coming through (in the wrong place). Haven't noticed any 'real' toothy signs since then. Your poor puss, no doubt she'll be feeling better now(and a bit lighter hehehe).

Re the phone calls, you might need to be firm with her, and if necessary switch on your answering machine to screen the calls. That way you can answer them when appropriate and ignore when appropriate, whilst being as kind as you can. I agree with Katie, sounds like you need a DH-sponsored foot or shoulder rub!

Sherie, your evening out sounds lovely, E has been pretty unsettled most times we've headed out *sigh*. She's only little for such a short while, I'm not complaining. *SNAP* with the legs kicking up and down when E wakes up, not so much farting though LOL - must be a male trait cos DH is a big early morning fluffer!

Queenie, I agree, time to get out to the flicks - 27 Dresses sounds great. But aren't they bridesmaid dresses, it'll be miles of electric blue taffeta and hot pink ruffles LMAO. They don't have any mumsnbubs sessions here over the school hols but might take DD1 to see Enchanted, there's so much kiddie noise in the cinema during the hols I don't think a bit more baby noise will matter!

Hayley, I looked at your montage, it's gorgeous, I want to do one now! Won't have time for a couple of weeks tho...

OK, better go, gotta plan some activities for DD1 this week, we're driving each other crazy!

sherie - well said lol i can never articulate things properly.. Asha doesnt do that thing with her tounge pushing her bottle or her food out.. she also only gets little tastes not full meals :) the speks i chose happen to be dolce and cabanna (sp) the only reason i could though is they were half price in a sale!!! they are a metalic pinky colour and a slightly unique shape :) the frames were only 190 its the lenses that are 230 and theres only one lense thats perscription!!! the other one is plain glass coz the right eye is fine!!!
lp - unless u feel really strongly (u know mothers instincts and all) id agree with sherie too much trouble lol... asha is big too have to get her weighed and measured soon sure shes grown heaps.. have you thought about getting her some of that picnic cuttlery to play with?? like a bright coloured bowl and spoon maybe that would satify her while you guys are eating???

Scarlet doesn't need to be waking up to have a fart marathon... The kid never stops, I think she's farted on everyone that's ever held her. I have a fear that she will be the farty kid in school & no one will talk to her, lol.

MD she has one on each side up the top which look like vampire fangs - & - one down the bottom, They may well be the cyst things as like i said she has no signs of teething at all.
WHOOHOO we have an excuse to go see kiddie movies now! DF & I were the only adults at Shrek 2 not to mention the only ones laughing... one little kid even told us to "shh' cause we were in hysterics!

Noni, We did give her one of her spoons when she was sooky but she just whacked herself in the face with it & cried more, She got herself pretty good too, Lucky they're rubber tipped. lol.

LP - I cracked right up when I read about Scarlet having lil fangs - have you tried waving some garlic around near her (make sure you don't have a vampire baby LOL). Maybe some bom chicka wahwah is exactly what you need...stress relief an all that :cryinglaugh:!

Noni - I think it is a heinz set, They have special rubber tips so they don't hurt thier little gums.

LOL MD all i can say is in a few months i think it would be VERY painful had i been able to breastfeed, Ouchies! I also have fangs, they used to be really "fangy" (could not think of the word i was after LOL) when i was a kid, but they're small now...

Stress relief... pft, I reckon that's a myth made by a man to get more bom chicka wahwah'in!

Hey MD have you got tomatoes coming out your ears yet? We have them everywhere!

Will is also watching with interest when we eat, but he looks at the t.v remote and the dog the same way lol. We got him a sippy cup today because he really liked drinking water out of a sipper bottle yesterday. He can't work it though, he doesn't know to suck it.

Sherie, I hear you on the farting baby. I had to get up three times last night because W was waking himself up with farts. No more lentils for me.

Boring day here, DH and I keep having little spats - the stress of moving is starting to kick in.

LP, LOL at being told to shush. That's the worse thing with those movies, there are so many *adult* jokes, that we laugh and the kids have no idea what was so funny. Lindsay asks me all the time what I'm laughing at when I watch movies with them.

Ooooh Noni, those specs sound really nice. IKWYM about them being exxie. Lindsay has a really strong prescription too (think coke bottle glasses LOL) but thank god technology is such that they don't look really thick and that they are kids glasses so the most we've paid is $270. The next time he needs a new pair wont be so much as DH has PHI through his work now which covers optical.

LP, trust me, Scarlet wont feel any ill effects of farting when she's older - she is a girl and girls don't fart ;) LOL. Another thing I was going to suggest is try to get a hold of the Wonder Weeks book - it really does explain so much of why babies do what they do and at what age, it really is a lightbulb moment book because once you read it, you go 'ahhh, that makes so much sense'. Having a empty dinner plate/bowl and cutlery is a great idea for her to have during meal times.

Alister was up early today at 5.58am LOL. I think he just had some lower wind as he was really fidgety when I put him in bed with us and was kicking his legs around like mad. Sure enough when I fed him him at 6.30 he let out this huge one LOL.

I have to go to town today too. The Electrician isn't coming until tomorrow now by the look of it and I want to be here when he comes as DH will be back at work and he needs to know where not to dig etc.

Gracie, do it do it do it! Despite being married TWICE - I've never had a proposal, we just sort of agreed to get married LOL. Fortunately (for me) that means he still owes me in the diamond stakes! I wouldn't be too worried about Britney, she kinda lives on her own lil planet.

Arte - you've already booked your flights haven't you? When are you moving? It's a very stressful time (we've done the interstate removal dozens of times and it never gets any easier). My advice is sell everything that you don't absolutely adore because it will be much easier to get new stuff than to drag it all with you.

I have just been on a walk with Logan, my New Years Resolution was to be more active and this is the first day of sunshine we have had this year. Now I just need to keep it up everyday, DH is going to come of an afternoon too so I should be looking fab for all these bloody weddings this year.

Sherie Logan is up at 5.30am every morning. It feels like the days a really long, its such a pain since he goes back to sleep at about 8am and I am way to awake to have a snooze.

MD, congrats on your Bebepod! We do have our flights booked, we leave on the 12th of Feb (5 weeks tomorrow eeekkkkk). The cat and dog arrive the following day because I thought it would be easier to manage travel with the baby and suitcases one day then sort out the fur babies the next day. We decided to take all of our stuff with us - we are just shipping it in a container. We priced it out and it ended up being cheaper to transport our stuff than to sell and rebuy everything. A bit of a pain because it won't arrive for a couple of weeks but we don't have a house to go to so I guess it doesn't matter lol. We are staying at mums house for a while - I am sure parents love it when their 25 year old kid moves back in (along with a husband, baby, cat and dog).

Katie, it is also my NYR to be more active. So far not so good. Did you get the massive storm yesterday afternoon? I really have to lose some weight this year, ideally I would like to lose 15kg before baby #2 comes along, I really don't want to get GD again.

Phone calls have stopped, Phone is off the hook... lol... I'm having the number changed today, I just can't deal with it all, Everything was fine until she started getting abusive - I wont be abused for looking after her children when she wont step up & do it properly herself!

DF is back at work today :( I was getting used to him being around all the time, It's so much easier.

I am so spun out at how much kids can multi-task, earlier J was on the phone, listening to her ipod, eating breakfast & doodling on a piece of paper all at the same time - How she can listen to music & manage an hour long phone call is beyond me. lol.

It's so hot here again today, I think i'll be filling up the paddle pool & taking bub for another swim.

Well the head ache is gone and I am trying to get the motivation to clean the house. lol.

OMG I must say I am not one for following procedures on the right way to do things I mean I had and 2 Elective C-Sections and Formula Feed my babies from birth and now I feed my babies too early. Oh well it all works for me. Maybe in my own way I am doing the right thing for MY babies.I am also getting Olivias ears pieced when she is 6 months old. (Sorry I dont want to get anybody mad for what I said)
Noni- Olivia has Heinz baby apple for 4 to 6 month olds probably about twice a week and then she sometimes I give her pumpkin and sweet corn. I always introduce foods during the day so that I can watch them closley. I did the same with the twins. My mother fed me early too and so did all my aunties with their babies.
