OMG I must say I am not one for following procedures on the right way to do things I mean I had and 2 Elective C-Sections and Formula Feed my babies from birth and now I feed my babies too early. Oh well it all works for me. Maybe in my own way I am doing the right thing for MY babies.I am also getting Olivias ears pieced when she is 6 months old. (Sorry I dont want to get anybody mad for what I said)

Arte, those 5 weeks will fly past - start writing lists now of things that need to be done otherwise you'll be running around like a maniac in the week before you leave!

LP that multitasking is just the way kids work these days. Us XGens were the first to start doing it, they've taken it to a whole new level! Glad you're getting your phone changed, I take it you've opted for a silent number?

Katie - walking - what a good idea! i just hate summer so it might have to be cool evenings or shopping centres for me! LOL

*My personal opinion* I don't think that feeding a bub at 4 months will make a drastic amount of difference compared to feeding them at 6 months. There seems to be more food allergies now than there have been in the past, but back in the day all babies were fed solids very early. I would start solids later if there was a family history of food allergies because I think that genetics play a bigger role in who has intolerances rather than what age food was started.

I was BF until 1 year and started solids at 6 months. My brother was FF and started solids at 6 weeks. Of the two of us, neither have any allergies at all and I am the one that tends to be overweight. I know that is only a localised example, but for this issue I think nature has more effect than nurture.

Leemar, don't worry. As far as parenting goes I think there really is no 'right' way to do things. As long as your kids are clean, fed and loved you are doing fine.

leanne - i am the same ppl tell me whats the norm and i go with what i feel my baby wants and needs.. she loves getting a little taste of solids every now and then the only reason i wrote in my posts that the who dosnt reccomend solids till 6 weeks is because i worry someone will take what works for my baby and do it with their baby who is not ready and something will go wrong and i will feel bad iykwim? lol i am the paranoid type!!! but for ash little tastes of different things is where shes at and we are really enjoying it!!!
haley - good idea at changing ur number!!! i feel for her because losing your kids must be so hard but as you said if she made an effort to look after them properly in the first place they would be at home with her!!!
md - well done on the be be pod you'll have to tell me how it is!! i am still undecided between that and bumbo lol or whether i will even get anything at all lol
katie - well done on the walking i am trying to be more active to especially with weigh in wednesday coming up lol

ive had some trouble lately with huggies nappies and leaking i actually rang the company and they asked me to send them some.. i am betting they just send me some reply like cant find anything wrong u must be using them wrong grrr coz its not like all the nappies have leaked iykwim?? this morning i had one leak all over her bouncer thank god the cover is machine wash able asha loves her bouncer so much i am scared its not gonna be ready by the time she needs it lol though it can go on the dryer on low as well phew !!! if huggies dnt do something i might try some other brands!!!
oh yeah and rememebr i was talking about a grass flea problem?? well we are still getting the odd one or two so i upped my credit card limit (it was kinda scary how easy that was actually a 5min online application and i was instantly aproved and the money was there!!) and called in the serious pest ppl!!! once asha got bitten that was it so i rang around and got $231 for the yard and inside because my mum is a customer of theres the other companies were chaging between 300 and 350 but because my mums been with these ppl for a while we got a good price!! buh bye fleas lol

Oh and Toilet training is going Ok they want undies on more and more but the other day Xavier **** all over one of the dining chairs and was saying mummy I need a tissue. I didnt know if I wanted to cry or laugh. The joys. lol.

Well... Miss S is having a sleepy day today & the girls are down the road playing, YAY they have friends! so i'm pretty bored, lol... being a SAHM definately has it's dull moments... sure i could clean the house but i so can't be bothered. Wonder if Hayley is non-stop calling the day care centre...lol.

ETA: I highly recommend a paddle pool if you want a tired tot - It wears S out so much, She loves kicking & splashing around & she sleeps really well afterwards, Plus it's not as scary as the big pool.

LP- Olivia is having a sleepy day today too. Glad the girls are settling in.

LP I get so bored too. We bought Logan a little pool for Xmas and are going to try it out this afternoon. This heat sux. They are predicting rain down here tomorrow and the rest of the week I think.

Logan is also having a sleepy day, must be the heat. He is down having his second nap, his nap this morning was an hour and a half. He has been asleep for half an hour already this time too.

Well - Instead of spamming our forum I might go cover books, sharpen pencils & write names on socks, lunchboxes and pencil cases WHOOHOO! lol.

P.S. What is with having to buy a summer, winter, sport & formal uniform? geez... When i was at school we just changed our skirts for sport & wore a bl##dy jumper in winter. All the uniforms are completely different to one another at this school, It's very confusing.

lp we had all those except formal lol n winter was track pants or stockings if it was too cold lol

We didn't have uniforms at primary school. At intermediate and college we had uniforms but the only difference in summer and winter was that we were allowed to wear trackpants, we didn't have formal uniforms either.

Hm, It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me... Imagine the families that have 5 school age kids? I only bought one of each uniform for each of the girls & I'll see how that goes.

LP, I think its a bit rude making parents fork out for the formal one - how often are they actually going to use it? Especially when they grow so fast - by graduation time at the end of the year half the kids won't even fit them lol.

How is pussy cat today?

sport uniform u will only need one coz they only do sport once a week dnt they?? same as the formal itd only be for special occassions.. then id recomend a couple of shirts each maybe 2 or 3 coz thats what gets dirty the most and maybe 2 summer bottoms and 2 winter bottoms each and one jacket/jumper i understand its bloody expensive though!! do they have a uniform room?? my old high scool had one where you could buy perfectly good second hand uniforms for really cheap so that extra skirt or jumper or whatever u know if they dirty one or lose one they can use the second hand one?? just a thought :)

Now that Will is sleeping more than 30 minutes at a time I am getting quite bored.

Does anyone bother to wash their walls? I have just given mine a wash for the open home and it is surprising how grubby they were. I didn't even notice.

Art ~ The boredom is driving me nuts today too, I think because i got used to having DF to talk to... I have been thinking i need a new hobby... I just have to think of one first! LOL

Pussy cat is much happier without her tail, She gave me a really sad look last night when she smooched up to my leg... She usually wraps her tail around my ankle but she can't anymore :(

I wash the walls where there are light switches every few weeks because DF is always grubby from work & leave finger prints everywhere, The kitchen & bathroom walls get done weekly & The other walls only get seen to every few months.

That's a good idea noni, I also found a local lady that makes skirts exactly the same as the one's the school sells for half the price - Pity i didn't look into it earlier. They are expensive, Approx $100 per each uniform & more for the formal ones so that's already over $800... I will try to get some second hand extras like you mentioned tho - Saves having to wash every night.

LP is your cat called Pussy cat? We call ours Pusscat or Puss Puss Puss - she does have a real name but it's Puss most of the time LOL. Re uniforms, make sure they are clearly labeled, in my experience the expensive ones tend to go walkabout quicker than the others, nothing worse than losing a $50 jumper in the first fortnight of cold weather!

Arte - I wash my walls when we're leaving the house! Spot clean when necessary, though I tend to whip around light switches & door handles every so often, they get grubby.

E is resisting her afternoon nap, H is resisting cleaning up her toys, DH appears to be resisting coming home early, I might have to resist something soon.

Afternoon Girls,

Olivia is having her little bubba nap too. Jorday is playing with a chain saw near me and its so loud I think that toy will have to go to grannys and Xavier is watching a movie but will soon join Jordy and I in the office as for me well not much house work got done today.

Walls- I try and do a wipe down when I do my weekly clean up but have mentioned to DH that when the kids get bigger we will have to paint as there is all chips and marks from the boys and no doubt Olivia will do the same.

Well back to work for me tomorrow.

MD - well done on your bebepod!! Was it a good price?

We are heading home tomorrow. Hopefully K enjoys being back in familiar surroundings. The last two nights she has woken up at 11 very unhappy. DH has tried settling her, but I've ended up having to feed her. Last time we were up here the first night back home she slept for 9 hours straight - I can't see that happening this time!!

DH and I went out for lunch today while Mum looked after K (our anniversary tomorrow). It was almost weird being out and just having each other to talk to!!

Arte - my parents are about to have their 30yo daughter, SIL and brand new baby move in while their house is being built!! (parents are retreating to WA for a 3 month 4WD trip while they are there for a break)

I wash the bottom of the walls where the cat smooches - that gets filthy!!

K refused the afternoon nap today so tonight could be messy!! Fingers crossed it isn't.

LP - We only ever had one winter bottom at school and a few shirts - formal uniform just sounds weird. Definitely investigate a second hand shop at the school, I'm sure they would have one.

quick one....started one the other day but computer crashed and haven't had a chance to post since.

got back to bne ok. not as great as the trip to perth (where she slept all the way) but pretty tame. only a few cries when she was hungry...and the one time that mum took a loo break. :(

wall cleaning - nope. never been cleaned/wiped. not a very good housekeeper here. don't usually dust either until it gets REALLY bad. oh, except for surfaces that get used often...ie. coffee table.

proposals - well, dp asked if i would marry him and i said "sure, why not" while walking around central park in new york....this was followed by dp saying "now i can say that i proposed to you in central park"....oh, obviously, no ring came with it. we're wearing matching wedding-type rings already courtesy of my mom who loves jewelry. dp calls it the enticement ring. :)

weddings - funny that the subject should come up at this time (or maybe not really) coz' dp and i have been talking about it. mainly for convenience (ie. medicare). am not really fussed but i guess it sort of gets tedious having to correct people with my surname since max has got dp's and they assume that that's mine too. anyway, because my family's having a reunion of sorts in the u.s. this march-april, we've decided to just do a vegas chapel wedding. so, by april, dp should be dh.

update on max, she's found her voice.....can't stop "jabbering" away...oh, except for when her nana's on the phone and wants to talk to her....then she gets soo enthralled with the phone that she stops talking.

have been reading posts but everything i've read have flown out the window.

arte, i so don't envy you the move. i think that i'll hold off on any moves for a while. and maybe we'll rent the house out furnished if we do. am so sick of having to pack and worry about my furniture and stuff. but then, at least you've got a real pot of gold at the end of the rainbow....being home and happy. :)

katie, was it you who was asking about the 2nd hand market? just went to the website and they're going to start having them at the gold coast (upper coomera) in april.

Well I am here at work and its so quite. I have heaps of work to do but would rather talk you all. hehehehe...

LP- Olivia and the boys go to mums tuesdays and wednesdays and Olivia and mum come to work with me on Thursday and Fridays and the boys go to day care. I only work 4 days a week now.

Fianne- Wow a Vegas Weddings sounds wonderful. DH has to go to Vegas in Sept for Work and asked if me and the kids want to go as we only have to pay for our airfares. Accomodation and his airfare is already paid for. So I am just thinking about it at the moment and his mum and Step dad are going so I would have help with the kids.

I hate driving to somewhere I have never been. DH has given me directions so fingers crossed I dont get lost.

Katie- My DH is my Navman too. When I get lost I just ring him and he tells me where to go.lol...

Fianne I believe you and I have the same housework schedule!! Dusting - ??? (only ever did the coffee table when people came over) Wash walls, pfft, never - that is until we got half the house painted pre-baby and I now can see the dirt appear. Went into the kitchen the other day and there was a huuuuge grey smudge about 1m from the floor. Was completely baffled until I remembered seeing boy kitty watching a large moth like a hawk the night before ROFL! Had the most massive three-month long spurt of nesting before Sasha was born which helped (remember me ironing the wrapping paper??) and since that am am trying to train myself to be a bit cleaner. I think the thing that *****s me the most are the floors - old polished boards and 2 kitties, both of whom love to scamper about shedding hair, scattering lint & dirt, with (worst of all) kitty litter stuck to their teeny feet EWWWW because DH (catcrap monitor) insists on using that evil clay litter. I mean, TMI but I have on occasion found it in our bed. Thank god we checked my toxo status before TTC and I was immune, but I absolutely HAVE to work on DH before S is mobile ...
oh and yay on your nuptials!

Miss has her immunisations todaY SO COULD BE A LOOOONG AFTERNOON.
Am alternately feeling like I'm getting on top of things and like I'm out of my depth... it this normal? ok, it prob is, but I feel like I sometimes don't know how to give my own baby what she wants or understand how she's relating to me. A few little things are starting to click, and last night she grabbed on to my clothes and didn't want to let go when I passed her to DH so I could make dinner, but I still sometimes feel at a loss for what to do. I also feel bad for not having her room all prettily set up and decorated - like I'm neglectful. However - happy stuff - last night I noticed she was really batting her dangly toys around and then actually grabbed one! she sort of grabbed a rattle too (well, I helped ;)) and shook it too. Very exciting! need to just focus on the positives! Her hip brace will hopefully be off in 4 weeks too... just want her to be happy and healthy...

Queenie- Dont worry all mums feel the same as you even I do and I have 3. Your a great mum and always remember that. I hope the needles go well. Olivia is getting her 4mth needles on thursday. Just remember to give panadol 1/2 hour before you go.

Queenie, I am sure you are doing a great job. I think all of us have moments where we just don't know what to do. It gets better and better as they get more interactive. Don't worry about not having a perfect nursery either - we only have the basics in there and three animal shapes blu-tacked on the wall. I bet you are looking forward to getting her brace off. Since she has worn it now does that mean that she won't need an op later? My DH aunt had HD, but it wasn't picked up until she was 18 months so she had to have surgery. Is her name pronounced sar-sha or sash-a?
I agree with that pets and wooden floors don't mix, I am forever sweeping up fallen hair. Last night I stepped on a lizard body with bare feet thanks to the cat leaving presents.

it's been sooo long since i've visited, and i'm pretty sure i've missed out on alot!!!
queenie - Zoe's room was never decorated when she was a bub. She had ripped wallpaper and yucky coloured walls. They don't notice any of that. All that is important to Sasha is yours and your dh's faces, and the love and security that you provide for her. :) I think when we do the nursery up, it's more about what other people think. (at least partly anyway) Not long to go before the brace comes off - that's great news.
sorry for no other personals. Might have to spend some time when dh takes the girls to the beach. (have to admit i'm not a real lover of the beach - it's the whole 'sand in my pants ' issue that i can't cope with lol.)
hannah had her first trip to the beach and she didn't like it much. We dipped her feet in the water and the poor little munchkin cried :( she still has a little thrush in her mouth, and i think i might have it on my nipples now. When she latches on to feed, it is so painful. My toes curl up and it's really hard to stop myself from swearing.
anyway, hopefully i can catch up with all of you soon.

sent a few nappies back to kimberly clarke but i bet they will just blame me for the leakage!!! problem is huggies are better than the other nappies :( after working in childcare ive seen alot of nappies and huggies seem to work best it really makes me angry u pay so much and then they leak everywhere!!!
ohhh well i am a bit dangerous with a credit card!! gotta start leaving it at home haha decided dp and i deserved a present haha i bought myself this really nice silver bracelet which was on sale so it only cost $70 and then i bought dp a shirt hed been wanting which was $55 lol oh well life is for living!! lol wont be so chearful when the bill comes but for now i am happy lol

quennie - Asha dosnt have her own room shes crammed in with us, she has one wall hanging that someone gave us and the long stitch i did hanging kinda near her and then the rest of the bedroom has this ugly really old and dirty unicorn trim around this awful blue painted walls lol add in posters of our fave bands lol its a shambles clothes piled up coz we have no drawers and the cupboard is full lol dont feel bad i dnt think Asha minds and i am sure Sasha dosnt either :) and i am exactly the same one minute its like yep look how good i am going lol i could do this easy and then she cries for a while and i cant stop her and i am feeling like oh my god why is she crying i am the worst mother in the world lol i think its normal and it does get easier and easier as it goes along..

Noni, I when I had leaking snugglers I wrote an email to Kimberly Clarke complaining and they sent me a pack of Huggies and an apology letter. Hopefully they will replace the pack for you.

I still feel like this some days, for me it's the challenge of multitasking with two children - balancing those very different needs - plus E is a completely different little creature to H - will require different things from me as she grows. I'm sure you're doing a wonderful job - just remember to look after yourself as well as S!

Queenie, i am loathe to say H is getting a lot of time with the square babysitter this week, I have some research to do with a pretty tight deadline (i KNOW you know how that feels) so squeezing it in between bubby needing care & entertainment -phew! yesterday she made crepes out of her cook book (i showed her once then she quite competently cooked the rest herself :)) and this arvo I've pulled some pipecleaner animal patterns of the net. Oh and we did Hama beads earlier (thank god I didn't chuck em out when we got hte bindie!!)

Re the kitty litter, get one of those propylene (sp?) door mats and put the tray in the middle of those, they catch the litter as kitty hops out. Can be washed in the laundry sink. Might help?

Fianne - wow Vegas wedding, how exotic! I've only ever been to NZ (unlike my globetrotting DH) so mention going anywhere OS and I'm green with envy!

Leanne - re the trip - just do it! Opportunities like that don't come up everyday. My uncle and auntie did a similar thing a couple of years ago in italy for two whole months!

Noni, well between you at the shops and me on eBay we've been keeping the economy going nicely LOL. Won a couple of sets of clothes in 00s - we have lots of 0s for some reason but bit thin on the ground with 00s. Have you moved your room(s) around yet?

OK, well had the challenge of dragging both kids round the public library this morning while I got found some stuff and did some photocopying. There was this elderly gentleman at the desk, taking his time, chatting to the librarian, while E was getting louder and louder while we waited....grrr, then he thought he'd have a little chat to me - I think I might've been a bit rude, cutting him off. I just wanted to get it done and get out of there!

ETA - read all your posts and clean forgot what I was going to say - took E to the physio for a torticollis checkup - nearly completely gone & she has much better range of movement now. And while we were there, we put Betty Chubbalubs on the scales and she weighs nearly 7 kg (!!) :)

Marydean, that's great that the torticollis is nearly gone! She certainly is doing very well.

Queenie hun, we all have times where we feel like we aren't *reading* our babies needs very well, and it is different with every child too as they are all different - what worked well for me with one child doesn't necessarily work with another one. And it's OK to feel like you are out of your depth sometimes. And I can guarantee when it happens its on a day where you are tired, or out of sorts. Always remember that no matter how you are feeling *today*, tomorrow is a new day and a chance to do it differently.

LP, I have spent the better part of $300 this week on getting the kids ready for school and I haven't even finished yet. Definately check out the local opshops or the school may even have second hand uniforms available. Alternatively you could put a want ad in the local rag etc as there may be a few Mums with uniforms they don't need anymore.

ohhh i am talking to my friend in melbourne on msn messenger and shes having mild contractions (since this morning) and has just had a show!! shes actually due today could she be part of that 5% of ppl who give birth on their due dates lol maybe!!!
md - thats great re tortocollis :) i think Ashas gotta be close to 7kg i wanna get her weighed asap and measured because shes suddenly got really long!!! she was 5kg last time we weighed her and that was a while ago now!!
arte - i emailed them and then they were too slow for my liking lol and i rang them.. they asked me to send them a few of the nappies to see if they could find something wrong with them.. they didn't discuss with me whether they would replace them or not i sent them off today so i guess i have to wait and see what happens...
