LOL Arte, I just don't don't want to irritate his skin any more than it is already. Normally i don't wash new clothes first before wearing them. DH has a big thing about it though for some reason though LOL, so I always wash his new clothes first - I think he just hates the smeel of them.
ETA *snap* LP - for that reason I always get the clothes from the back of the rack LOL.
Noni, she must look cute in her extra long pants.
-
We just had to go out for a 'duty lunch' with some of DH's workmates. K must be a good judge of character, she took one look at them and the bottom lip came out and the tears started!! She's never done that before.
She was awake all through Mother's group and all through lunch. Only little naps in the car on the way back and forth, hopefully she has a good sleep tonight!
Noni - DD was a total fashion disaster yesterday because it was so cold, I took a photo of her she looked so bad.
Arte - that doesn't sound at all lazy to hold off on solids until you move. I don't think K is ready yet, but I'm quite happy to wait another couple of months or whatever. Extra washing up doesn't appeal to me at all!
LP - hope DD is fine.
I don't normally wash my clothes before putting them on (did DD's though) but after that story LP I think I might!!
Noni - glad you enjoyed the step class, I used to really enjoy that and pump.
Gosh you have all been so chatty today!
-
Arrrggggh yuck. Just bought a new top and pants, off to check them for boogers now....
-
I am so bored today. We went for a walk this mornign and will go again at 5 have had lots of playtime on the floor.
Cally I read somewhere that at this age they tend to become picky about who they like.
I wash all of our new clothes, I hate the smell and would hate to irritate L's skin.
Noni Asha must look so cute in her big clothes.
LP blowing his nose on clothes....that is disgusting. Did hid mum see him do it? Imagine being the poor person who picks that dress up and trys it on.
Arte Brisbane meet up sounds good, I am free most days so let me know where and when.
RE solids L hasnt had any yet. We have some rice cereal in the cupboard but we aren't in a rush to try it. He has a tatse of things from our fingers (clean of course) and he will havea suck on some apple or nectarine but thats it.
-
sherie - just had a look at your gallery - Alister is a little cutiepatootie!!!
-
Sherie- Yes I am very scared about Xavier going for his op. I rang the Anthesist and he said that he will probally use the gas to put him to sleep then put the drip in. And only 1 parent can go with him to theatre but I think I will send DH and I will wait in the waiting room cause I will probally cry seeing him lay there on the table. I can not wait till its all over. I just hope Jordy doesnt need the same op. Although he has never had an ear infection.
-
Leanne - you poor thing :( i think i would be exactly the same.
Is anyone thinking of doing mum and bubs yoga? thought it might be something i can do with Hannah when the girls go back to school.
-
Thanks Jaz :) There isn't a yoga class within coo-ee of me here. The local gym used to have a creche, but all the mums with the really feral kids used it and they tore it apart, so they don't have it now.
Leanne, when Lindsay broke his arm last year and had to have a GA, they only let me go in for the start while he was having the gas and then they took me out. Sometimes they don't let you stay at all - I think they think that we would get too freaked out I guess (and rightly so!) If it help his ears though it will all be worth it.
Gracie, I kept meaning to post about Lewis' pics - those dimples are to die for! What spunky little guy.
Cally, was K accurate with her lip dropping ;)
Katie, you must be getting super fit with all the walking you've been doing.
-
S is fine, The doctor said it's v. normal for girls - more so for newborns but nothing to worry about & Might be caused from me bathing her too often, Whoopsies.
JaZmum! That's where i picked up cutiepatootie! LOL I keep saying it & thinking where on earth did that come from? Mums & bubs yoga sounds great, I wonder if they have anything like that here.
Leemar, I had gromits, adnoids & tonsils done all the same time when i was 5 - They let my mum in to hold my hand while i was put under then she had to leave, I specifically remember pretending it hurt alot more then it actually did so i could have ice-cream for breakfast for an extra few days :) I hope it all goes well!
-
lp - glad Scarlet is ok. I recall Hannah having some discharge at some stage too. when are you going to go to Australia Zoo?
sherie - bummer at the ferals destroying the creche.
ok - i'm going to go and check out everyone's photo galleries now :)
eta - they're all such cute little bubbas!!!
-
OMG I just opened a Jar of s-26 gold and there was a maggot in between the lid & safety seal WTF!!!!!!
-
Maia is very spewy at the moment as is many of the other bubs in our mums group her age at the moment - not sure what that means really. Just messy.
THis prob a really dumb question but where are the photo galleries you all speak about and also how do you put pics on your signature blocks?
-
It does make it easier to cope after a rough night when they are smiling and happy - they are at a much cuter age now. And despite lotsa spewing - it is often done through a smile or talking so that is often funny too.
Ozstar - I'm glad you got some sleep - my hubby does that some saturday mornings too which is nice. We were going to get a really little kiddy pool but given it is so hot here we got a slighty larger one (10ft across and when sitting in it comes up to shoulders) so we can all enjoy to some extent. The power went off here this morning and with a top temp of 41degrees and a min of 26 expected I was glad we had the pool for the daytime. Cause when the evap cooler and fans go off doesn't take long to warm up. Thankfully it came back on before an hour was up :-)
Marydean - was working in Allied Health/Environmental Health
RV vaccine may not have been around a few years ago but then the virus wasn't much of a problem then either. Just as meningococcal never used to be as big a problem but now that risk has increased vaccine is now recommended. Would have been the same for all the others at one stage or another. While RV is a gastro - it is not your normal everyday gastro...more of a MEGA version and they have put the vaccine on the schedule as the risk has increased and as always with bubs immune systems still developing they are more likely to catch it.
JordieC - not on solids yet and planning on waiting till the 6months at this stage - she seems pretty happy with booby milk and stacking it on. Though she is getting more interested with what is on my plate these days
-
Yuck Renee!!!! That is soooo disgusting! I would throw up, can't stand flies and maggots. I would enclose it in an envelope and send it to them with a very strongly worded complaint letter (read: hate mail).
-
I would kick up a big stink if I found maggots in anything!! DEMAND to talk to manager - anything! THat's so gross! Oh and Maia is such a pretty name! Love it!
Artechim - very cute baby! William - do you call him Will?
-
Jordie thanks. We do call him Will. My father keeps calling him Willy and it gives me the ****s! We often marvel at how all the sept bubs are cuties (Mackenzie included)
My house finally has all the photos on realestate.com.au. Have been waiting for ages and the auction is in two weeks. I am annoyed at my agent. Property ID is 104538745 if anyone wants to look.
-
Arte the pic with Will asleep in the bed is so cute, fingers crossed you get what you want at auction. Logan has the same octopus in orange, DH has perfected the songs lol.
-
Wow spick and span Arte, hope you get a really good price for it!
Had a "hellrider" of an arvo today, Missy would not sleep but whinged constantly. DH arrived home and bathed her and had her asleep in about 10 minutes - I crashed on the lounge and boyo I feel better now!
Rach I don't envy the climate you're living in! Good thing you have a pool. IF you click on the gallery link in the RH top corner of a post, it will take you to piccies ppl have put up there. I have mine on a website and just paste the url into your siggy (like for your ticker). HTH
Renee, seriously take a photo and EMAIL it to them, I would imagine they will be very interested in the batch information. Eeeew - let us know what they say.
Leanne, i had my adenoids and grommits done when I was little and really they should have done the tonsils at the same time cos they caused no end of trouble. I'm sure he will be fine, they've got it down to a fine art these days.
I wash all our clothes before wearing, most of them come from Asia and have been stored for long periods and have all sorts of dust and micro-dusty itchy creatures in them - I've had a really bad itchy rash one time from wearing something straightaway and don't like to risk it again. Plus someone emailed me these photos of ulcerating sores that were (allegedly) from wearing before washing - eeew. Might have been an urban myth tho.
Jordie - I'm holding off until after 6 mths - can't see the point before then when milk is the main food - I believe what they say about gut readiness, etc, too. Plus we have allergies in the family so we'll be introducing low chemical foods like I did with DD1 who seems to have bypassed the family hayfever/asthma thing. That means lots of cooking from scratch and not using jar food which believe me is pretty labour intensive.
On the same topic LP - golden delicious is the most mild flavour apple (low food chemical) or otherwise you can start with pear (also mild) and move onto apple later.
Noni we were going to have your tuna salad for tea tonight but then I feel asleep on the couch and DH started a lamb tagine so looks like it'll be tmrw instead.
-
EWWW RENEE! That's so disgusting, It's definately in my top 3 most disgusting things you could find in baby formula - You should absolutely complain.. I told DF about it & he said you should complain your a$$ off til you get a years supply of formula for free.
Art, that is so cute Will sleeping in your house photo.. lol. I can't believe they listed it that late i'd be annoyed too!
-
Oops, Type too slow... MD we were going for pears but DF & i had a difference of opinion on which variety was just a plain normal pear, Obviously he is just STRANGE lol... anyway we didn't end up buying any at all - I also wanted to get golden delicious & he disagreed with that so i will tell him MD said so next time!
ETA; Yes we are that couple that you see arguing in the fruit isle!
-
renee - if u ring the company they will sort something out for you they should give you some free products (if u even want them now) or your money back or both deffinately talk to them because if you let them know the batch no etc etc they may want to recall it so they can look further into it
sorry for the lack of other personals having a bit of trouble with dp be back on later i am sure
-
Im emailing them now. I didnt take any photo's though :( Do you think they will believe me???
Im having trouble wording the email though. Dont want to sound too agressive but not too passive either. Oh
-
I think if you just etll them simply what ahppened and how disapointed you were then they will understand. If they don't reply then you can be more aggressive next time!
Story: I once told DH off for buying beans when we already had some. The conversation went "YOU'RE NOT BUYING BEANS ARE YOU?" (imagine bossy voice!). The guy then said "well actually..." it wasn't my DH! I was accusing a complete stranger! Luckily he laughed and I couldn't stop laughing and apologising - found DH near the tomatoes!
I agree about solids - will wait until DD really neeeds them. I am looking forward to it in some ways but I figure I have the rest of her life (well childhood) to feed her so will hold off! I know there are lots of signs but how do you know your baby is hungrier - hungry enough to eat solids? I know they might want more milk but that's quite normal I think!!! Well for Mackenzie it is! She's in the 95th percentile for weight!
-
renee - i email companies all the time complaining lol i dnt hold back just write something like dear blah blah.. i have been using your product now for x amount of time and have found it to be a reliable product. to my complete horror when opening a tin this morning i found a maggot. i am sure you can imagine how disgusted and shocked i was that the product i had come to trust to nourish my child had something like this in it. i did not save the actual maggot as i was in such shock but i do have the tin.
in my experience its probably best to give them a ring tmw because it will be quicker than through email. dnt worry about sounding agressive you should be angry yuk!!
-
Hi Girls,
Renee- I use s26Gold too and now I will be looking like mad. I hope they sort something out for you.
Jordie- You crack me up. Thanks for making me smile. Actually iam laughing cause I could see myself doing the same thing.
Noni- I hope everything is ok with you and DP. Did he get another job?
Girls I love all your photos.
-
Renee you will be quite surprised at this horrible disgusting thing, as they will take it completely in their stride, unbeknownst to the general public they probably get a number of similar complaints every year. Like the time I found silky coccoons in my breakfast cereal, the woman on the phone didn't blink an eyelid and even told me what sort of creature it was...!
-
Okay guys this is what I wrote! Hope you dont mind me posting it here. I am terribling at stringing words togther in letters LOL!
Marydean - I have a feeling they wont give a rats too :(

Dear Manager
On the 20th January 2008 I opened the lid of our S-26 Gold tin which was bought the day prior at Coles in Ocean Keys, Western Australia. To my absolute horror there was a single dead maggot lying in-between the gold lid and the tin safety seal.
Being that formula is required to be made in such a sterile manner, I am shaken that a well-known Australian product created to nourish my son could endanger his health. Making the decision on which formula to use was not an easy one but during my own research I found that S-26 was a well-recommended and trusted formula. However I am now weary on using feeding my son S-26 again. My husband and I are extremely disappointed.
I do hope that this is not a wide spread problem your company is facing, for the sake of other mothers trust in what they are feeding their babies.
Do you require a batch number to investigate this further? I still have the receipt available if you require this also.
Awaiting your reply.
Regards,
-
Renee I think that sound sgreat, let us know what they say. If you dont get a call or email by lunch I would be giving them a call.
Noni hope everythign is ok with you and DP.
MD thats disgusting!
Jordie PMSL at your story, I would so do the same thing.
Well I am off tobed, fingers crossed Logan sleeps in again....I am not holding my breath though lol.
-
Morning Girls,
Renee- Your letter sounds great. Good Luck.
Well the good night sleeps where just a teaser. Olivia was talking and wanting to play at 2.30am this morning and yet again for another night I had 2 boys in my bed. OH I am so tired today.
Have a great day to all...
OMG Heath Ledger is Dead...
-
renee, letter sounds good. but just playing devil's advocate here, if you found the maggot outside the seal, then could it be coles' s/market at fault? the plastic lid could've come off in store and maggot got in there. don't know if this makes a difference.
-
Renee, that's a great letter. Sometimes though they ask you to take it back to place of purchase if you have the receipt, but I always tell them I don't have the receipt and you can get more off them that way - I got a dodgy 750ml dare expresso once and called them and they sent me a $10 coles card to replace a $3.50 drink.
Leanne, can you get a snooze in at all today? I was up at 4.30 with Alister and his trumpet bum giving him pains in the belly.
Jordy, that is hilarious. I would have died of embarassment if that were me LOL.
-
Grrr I am soooooo tired today and not because of Logan. At 12.45 DH and I woke up to a loud knocking on our front dooor, got up nobody was there we spent about half hour looking around for someone and then took about 2 hours to go back to sleep. We have seen young kids raoming around latley so it seems they have upgraded from pushing porta-loo's over to playing knock and run. I am going to check with the neighbours if they had the same thing or if we were the only lucky ones. Logan woke at about 2am I put his dummy in and rubbed his back so he didnt wake till 5am.....that would have been the best nights sleep :(.
Well I have a zillion things to do this morning. Have a great day everyone. Leanne hopefully you and I can get a snooze in later (obviously not together lol).
-
Tears at our house last night. DD did not want to go to bed (as usual). All the tired signs were there and we spent half an hour stroking, cuddling, sshing etc before giving up. She was bright as a button when we got her up and happily sat there while we read a story etc. Gave her half an hour then she fell asleep on the bb. It's just so frustrating when all I want to do is go to sleep!!
And looks like AF is coming back - not impressed, didn't think that was supposed to happen when she is still feeding 4 hourly over night.
OK, whinge over.
Renee - hope you get a reply soon, that is disgusting, I think I would have spewed when I saw it!!
Katie - oh, the knock and run, you poor thing.
Sherie - how is the new formula going for A?
We were going to go for a bit of a drive today, but DH had a bad sleep and I'm just not in the mood. Will go and check out the other child care centres instead - so much for having that finalised before Christmas, we are so disorganised.
-
Hey girls I have just been to Toys R Us and they have the boxes of huggies on special for $32, just thought I would let you all know.
DH is coming hom early woo hoo, he is super tired the poor thing at least I got to go back to sleep this morning.
Cally Ih ope K starts to settle for you real soon, you must be buggered.
-
hey all
well i went to ww and i managed to put on .1 :( i was so gutted especially considering i'm still sore!! i really thought i was gonna hit my goal this week.. guess not.. joined unlimited so i have access to all the net tools, it actually works out cheaper anyway.. sigh fingers crossed next week will be better..
renee - that is a good letter hope they reply really soon!!
sherie - dp had a juice bottle lid come off in his bag not long ago it was sealed but the lid broke and juice went everywhere so i emailed them and complained and they gave me a 10 coles voucher too think that drink was worth about 3bucks lol..
katie - wish there was a toys r us near us they always seem to have goo specials but we are too lazy to drive the half hour to get there lol...knock and run how annoying!! id be out for blood lol
cally - sorry about af.. there were tars at our house over bed time last night too because i settled her into bed and dp decided he wanted to go in and "look" at her of course she started screaming grrrr
fianne - shouldnt make a difference, i once had a dolmio jar with a ****eroach (sp) in it but we figured out over the phone because the thing was alive it was probably hiding under the seal then when the lid poped the vacuum sucked it in they said it probably came from coles to tbh it probably came from where we were living at the time but they still sent us heaps of free sauces lol (geez i am starting to sound a bit petty here with all my complaining to companies and thats not even half of the things ive rang about lol)
leanne - i heard that about heath ledger strange stuff!!
-
Found a child care centre - just had a good vibe about it and it is next door to DH's work so he can go and visit when he wants to! They don't provide a main meal, so I'm going to have to be well prepared the night before, but it was so much better than the other places.
Noni - sorry you didn't lose any weight this week, fingers crossed for next week.
Oz - shame we don't have a Toys R Us near us.
-
Noni, if you've only put on .1 then it might just be extra fluid or something. I on the other hand managed to find myself an extra 1.3kg (well that did include Christmas) so you're going ok. That's why I don't do weekly weighs, it's too short a time and too easy to obsess about it. BTW I told DD1 about the roasted tom salad tonight and she's quite looking forward to it!
Thanks Katie for the Huggies tip. Just what every neighbourhood needs, little hoodlums.
Cally, oh, so this staying awake on purpose is happening at your house too? We've had another episode of fighting sleep to the point where we have to go through several rounds of crying (being patted, etc) before we go to sleep, if you get her out of bed she's all happy and wants to play...for about 5 minutes until she realises how tired and grumpy she is. Bit of a challenge, I think we just have to ride this one out, I'm sure it's just a developmental leap.
Renee, I agree, good letter, let us know what they say.
OK, just bought another (3 mth old) stroller on eBay, it's an Emma but will fold down and fit in the boot a bit better. YAY!
Leanne I was shocked to hear about Heath Ledger, cut down in his prime - do they know why? What happened?
-
MD - K only does it at nighttime, is E the same? DH thought we should push bedtime back, but I think that will just result in us getting to bed later, because she will do the same thing no matter when she goes to bed. Tonight we're just going to go with the flow, not keep perservering for too long because I will just get stressed out!!
-
It started at night time a couple of weeks ago and has now progressed onto staying awake for unreasonable lengths of time during the daytime too (hence yesterday's horror ride). She really fights the wrapping, settling, shooshing process. I'm pretty sure it won't be a long term pattern, she'll realise soon that going to sleep is actually NICE when you're tired then will start settling easier. I hope, anyway!
ETA I half wonder if she doesn't have some teeth moving or something else like that happening...
-
I was wondering about the teeth too, tried to have a look yesterday but don't think there is anything there.
I just have to go with the flow, deep calm breaths at night time....
