Cally I was just thinking last night in the shower how it's probably a growth spurt with E too - they get much tireder than usual (ie cranky, whingey) but don't sleep as well, they are hungrier, but often fuss about food (maybe goes with the tiredness). It's the same with older kids and it can last for a couple of weeks at a time. But you probably already know this?
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY everyone - get some Pav into ya! Who's doing something 'stralian today...we're having lamb roast for tea and H has been making miniature flags on toothpicks for us to wave LOL. Never ceases to amaze me!
Ok, wingey growth spurt girl's just woken up, gotta go.
-
I am trying to be in bed about 9, read for a little bit. Sometimes the light doesn't get turned off until 10. I would like to have more time to myself (or watch some tennis this week), but at the moment, sleep is still a priority so it's early nights.
-
hey all
little miss is still sick :( was gonna take her to the dr today but ofc they are closed... went to the chemist and got some infants friend hoping that will help settle her tummy.. think she has some kinda tummy bug, shes still not drinking much and vomiting alot of it, i'm not game to give her any solids and the vomit is still very chunky at times sorry for the tmi... has anyone got any ideas on things i can do to help her? should i be giving her water? theres no temp though and at times of the day she is still quite happy and smiley so thats something hope it passes soon!!!
md - i am going to an australia day bbq at my mums lol thats pretty australian am sure they will have lam on the bbq lol not that i eat it haha.. pavlova actually makes me a bit sick!! have a slight egg intolerance, meaning i only have a prob if i have too much and pav certainly does it to me!!
cally - congrats on the great night!!! yeah damn timetable i'm armed with a new one and ready for next week though!!
-
Happy Aus day ladies! Who's planning on banging a few snaggers and prawns on the barbie!? hehe.
Oh my goodness, what a mission of a morning! Silly me decided to finally whip out the finger paints and attempt to do Maddie's hand/feet prints onto a small canvas. Well...we got paint EVERYWHERE, all through her hair, all up her belly haha it was quite funny and she was loving it. Her hair has a blue tinge to it now, great! :D Anyway I leant my lesson, never again! Next time I'll just pay for the twinkle toes people.
Noni - You could try water, to stop her from getting dehydrated. Otherwise, if she doesnt improve definately go to the doc.
Marydean - We were planning on meeting up with some other young couples with their bubs for an Aus day bbq, but seeing as I am sick I would feed bad passing it on to the babies. So we are unfortunately laying low. :(
Jazmum - Same with me and the late nights, my own fault!
Cally - Glad that you had a good night!
Renee - Hmm yeah dont know if I'd be happy with that response either, but at least they are replacing the tin. We have been keeping an eye open when we use the S26.
-
happy Australia day ladies!!
i got my copy of the book 'the science of parenting' in the mail yesterday so i'm looking forward to reading it. really hot here again today. have a lovely day everyone.
-
noni - poor little Asha :( I hope she gets better soon. Maybe try her on some boiled water, especially if she is not keeping her milk down. If she is still happy and smiling though, that is a good sign.
hayley - hope you get better soon too.
hi gracie - enjoy reading your book :)
md - we're going to my sisters engagement party tonight, so today has been spent decorating the hall. We're hoping to celebrate it on Monday with some prawns and fish 'n' chips by the sea :) Will be trying to catch the top 5 in Triple J's hottest 100 though.
-
hello ladies and bubs! just popping in quickly to wish everyone a Happy Australia Day!
sorry no personals. have read and what i've read have flown straight back out. that's what happens when i try to cram a couple of threads worth of post.
no plans today. still trying to go purely breast feeding but have not been very successful. saw lc last night and she had some suggestions which might prove useful but...we'll see. spending the day trying to build the milk supply. :(
was planning on going to the gov's residence for their open day picnic but because the car's a/c is on the blink, will forgo that plan and just stay home lazy.
i don't know about you ladies, but it seems to me that the house is so much messier when dp is home. and it seems so much harder to keep to a routine. i am always wishing he was home more but at the same time....*sigh
-
Oh no ladies, we have another thumb sucker on the loose! hehe :) Madeline has always loved her dummy, but the past couple of days she has been slipping in the thumb big time and now prefers it to her dummy. Oh no what can I do!? Its absolutely adorable to watch, but I keep pulling it out and replacing with the dummy, dont want a repeat of my sister who thumb sucked till the age of 12! Who else was it that has a thumb sucker, i've forgotten?
-
Good luck Fianne, hope your efforts today pay off soon
Noni, let us know how Asha's going, poor lil chicken.
Hayley LOL at blue paint! There's plenty of that ahead :)
Jazmum, enjoy your trip to the seaside, wish I could come with you and have a paddle! I KWYM about staying up late for 'me' time. Sometimes bed is good too.
Gracie let us know what you think when you've read it.
ETA Hayley - E is a compulsive sucker of anything she can cram in LOL - thumb, fingers, toy, own clothes, others clothes, bedsheets, suck suck slurp slurp LOL.
-
will do md- i know you love books!! i am a closet book worm too. i was thinking today actually- all my fav hobbies involve not leaving home- reading, sleeping, eating, watching tv, gardening, drinking wine. i am such a little home body! the only hobby that makes me leave the house is boating!!! oh and shopping!!
-
Asha is doing much better this avo ive been giving her infants friend before her feeds and shes been drinking more and keeping it down!! weve had the odd small spew here and there but we always have that shes much happier!! we went to the bbq and she was full on laughing at me at one point when i was playing with her n she let everyone have nice long cuddles yay so glad i found something that can help her i hate seeing her sick or in pain!!!
OMG fianne! i know EXACTLY what you mean about dp and the mess and yet he had the hide yesterday to ask me where i was going to put my jacket when i took it off!!! i spent like 5 hours cleaning before the pest man came and it took about 2 days for him to undo my work yet he gets annoyed at me when i dnt want to jump up and clean when he decides he is ready grrrrrr infact i am just drinking a sugarless v atm so i can clean the place while hes not here.. he'll mess it up when he gets home with his friends in toe (his working with friends today) but i cant clean with him here!!
md - Asha is the same anything she can get in!!!
-
Haley, W has started thumb sucking. He still chews everything, but over the last week has developed a definite preference for his thumb for his sucking requirements. I am not sure what to do, I was pulling it out but it goes straight back in. He doesn't have a dummy to replace it and I feel mean pulling it out all the time. It is very cute though, cuddling into his dads shoulder sucking his thumb lol. I guess i should decide on something and stick to it.
Gracie, I am a homebody too. I always put off everything that requires actually leaving the house.
Noni, I think at our house I am the mess maker and my DH is the one getting pi$$ed off that I ruin all his cleaning
Fianne, good luck with exclusive BF, hope it works out for you.
JaZmum, have fun at the party. H is a clever girl nearly crawling! They are turning into big babies so fast.
Cally, I hope K was having a growth spurt and that your sleeping starts to improve now. W just had one I think - we had a nasty sleep week, then he slept through and had two 3 hour naps the next day.
MD - I did it! The final frontier - I BF in front of male co-workers! I went to a farewell dinner for one of the girls I worked with and stayed late with the last few stragglers. I see him and his girlfriend socially, I was rather worried that W would pull off and they would cop an eyeful but we managed o.k.
Bath time over, better go
-
Hi Ladies,
I know its a bit late but Happy Australia Day.
Sorry I have been MIA and missed a lot of posts but All 4 of my babies have been sick. The 4th being DH.
Noni- I hope Asha if better soon.
Well I hope all our babies sleep well tonight and give all the mummas lost of sleep.
Good night for now.
-
leanne-did your dh enjoy the bdo? it's the first year we haven't gone to it, and i was a bit upset cos last night bp's brother rang up from sydney bdo while rage against the machine were playing so dp could hear it........but dp said that ds was better than hearing any band....it is hard to make the adjustment to being *adults* though isn't it?
-
Hi girls!
]
WOW - you go away for a few days and a lot happens! We just got back from our 4 days camping and I have to say it was quite successful! We were lucky with weather - warm but not too hot. We didn't put Mackenzie to sleep in the camper during the day though cause that did get VERY stuffy and warm. This meant she only had naps during the day in our arms or the pram.
We were successful in not getting her burnt! We used baby sunscreen and she always wore her hat and sleeves in the water.
Hayley - Mackenzie has started sucking her thumb too!! and her fingers which is not new but she tries to put them in her mouth while I'm feeding her!! Means a lot of milk goes everywhere! LOL
Will catch up on more in here tomorrow!
-
jordie- glad your camping trip with mackenzie went well. where did you go to? my best friend's name is mackenzie so i love the name (she's 28yo).
-
Happy Australia Day everyone (I know its a bit late lol). I hope everyone had a great day.
We have been at home all day, DH is away so my girl friend and her 7 month old daughter (Logans girl friend) came down.
Sorry for no personals but I have had a few to many glasses of wine and cant remember anything.
-
ooohhh katie- what's logan girlfriend's name?
lewis has 2 girlfriends- ruby rose and sienna.
i think there's going to be a catfight soon.....
-
Gracie - We went to Wilson's Promontory - very nice! How unusual to hear about a 28 year old named that! I think it is definitely an older name so it will suit her more when she's older. I love it too! Lewis is a cool name!
LOL Ozstar! I know what you mean - only need a few sips though to feel like that!
Sorry for TMI - but is it normal for green pooh? (Mackenzie - not me!) My girlfriend said it means teething?
-
Don't worry Jordie, we love a good poo question in here. Baby's poos can come in an astounding array of colours, especially if you're breastfeeding. I have personally experienced DD1 having bright pea green poo (!) which we later worked out was from the bag of licorice allsorts we'd been scoffing on our roadtrip LOL. RU breastfeeding...sorry if you've said already
Gracie - lol at catfight! E hasn't been making eyes at the boys yet, she's too busy deciding what career she'll have - will it be can-can dancer (cos she lifts her dresses and kicks her legs) or maybe a plumber (on account of her hairy bum crack that creeps out of the top of her nappies) LOL!
Can't remember anything from last page - oh except YAY for Noni - another infant's friend success story. :)
-
md- ohhhh lewis loves can can dances lol!!! that's so friggin funny
-
Morning
Gracie Logan has two girlfriends too, Caitlyn and Claire. Claire is in Sydney tho so no cat fight for us.
MD PMSL at the plumbers crack.
Jordie Im such a cheap drunk now lol. I still have another bottle in the fridge for tonight.....how sad drinking on my own lol.
-
Noni - Glad to hear that Asha is doing much better, its terrible seeing them upset/in pain and not knowing exactly whats wrong and what to do for them.
Arte - Congrats on conquering the BFing in front of male co-workers! :D
Leemar - Oh no have you all got a cold or something? I've still got one that I'm trying to get rid of and keep away from DP especially as he always gets the man cold and drives me nuts. Hope you are all better soon!
Jordi - Wilsons Prom is so beautiful! Glad to hear it went well. I also love the name Mackenzie, its so cool!
Katie - Haha been tucking into the wine hey?! Doesnt take much for me to be drunk these days either! Two gf's for Logan, geeze lucky boy!
MD - Ohhh LMAO hairy bum crack, aww so funny!
Gracie - Far out another with two gf's! DP has already said he will be chasing boys away from Maddie, she isnt allowed a bf until she is 25 hahaha yeah right.
Ok this a question for all you mummies who have experience/know anything about teething...because I'm definately not the full bottle when it comes to teething. For the past few days Maddie has been sooo unsettled, hand & thumb sucking like mad, refusing the dummy and prefering her thumb and did a couple of runny poo's yesterday. I just checked her gums and there is a little white hard bit, is this a tooth? I just gave her bonjela and rocked her to sleep in my arms (which we havent done for months now but she wouldnt let me put her down). It must be a tooth right? Poor bub I started crying too due to the omg my baby is getting her first tooth and she is in pain!! wahh lol.
-
Hayley - sounds like a tooth to me, but then I don't know much about teething either!! Hope it pops out soon so she is a bit more settled.
MD - lol at the baby plumber!!
Jordie - glad the camping trip went well
Katie - Mmm wine - like the idea, but I had a taste of DH's over Christmas and it didn't appeal at all!! Maybe not drinking for a year has turned me off - I hope not, I do like to indulge in a nice wine.
Well K had her first swim last night. Took her down to the little creek that runs into the ocean near our place. It was so warm in the water, like a bath. She was a bit unsure of it, but there weren't any tears or anything so I think it was a success. Looked so cute in her little rashie!!
Very successful day here - have made a curry and some soup so we now have a restocked freezer. Just have to clean the bathrooms and the chores are all done.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!
-
Hayley - We are having the same problem with Rory atm. I can see white hard bits just under the gums. Its tough getting him to sleep but once he goes down he is okay.... so far. I think we will just have to see how they go.
Noni - Ive uploaded some pics of Rory & his poppy with their matching LZ tops on....They look like a pair of bogans HAHA!
Ive also put some photo's up of Rory's first try of Rice Cereal....quite funny :)
Jeepers better run, I think Rory has got himself stuck in the cot!
-
Renee - We have been having trouble getting Maddie to sleep lately too. She is all sooky and wanting to be held to sleep, where as before she was self settling. Poor things this teething is so upsetting! (for me as well I've had a few cries today haha) The pics are gorgeous, love the led zepplin one.
-
Me too! And ive been getting snappy and DH :( Do you have a fit ball? I have found it really helps Rory settle to sleep when I hold him and bounce on it.
-
Woolworths have the big boxes of Huggies for $30 this week for those that are interested.
Renee - will have to try that with K next time she is upset. Cute photos!
-
Renee Rory is adorable, I love the messy face photos.
Cally typical that Woolworths has the huggies on speacial after I have bought two boxes. Well done on restocking your freezer.
Gracie have you started reading the Science of Parenting yet? I have and I am finding it very interesting.
Arte well done on the BF.
Hayley I have no idea about the teething, I hope that if it is teeth they come through quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Sorry I cant remember anything from the other posts.
Logan went to sleep on his own tonight woo hoo. We have had a great day today laughing and playing its a shame DH wasnt here to join in. I am pooped tonight and think I might TRY and have an early night (I am sure you will see me back on here later lol).
-
Well its definately a little bit of tooth poking through the gum, only one coming through at the moment though. OMG!!!!!!! Cant believe it haha. My poor darling has been pretty upset today, I am preparing myself for a rough night, although she did settle well and on her own and has been sleeping for a few hrs now (touch wood!)
Cally - Oh no we just bought two boxes of crawlers from coles last week! Thanks for the heads up anyway.
Katie - Yay for Logan self settling!!!
-
hey all just a quick one as i have a terrible headache for some reason!!!
does anyone else use ww online? i am having a bit of trouble with e tools lol..
Ashas doing well still giving her infants friend every now and then to settle her tummy.
renne - cute pic with the led zep t shirts lol
cally - thanks for the nappy tip must go n get some :)
haley - wow toothy poking through Asha has had teeth just beneath the gums for ages but nothing comes through its driving me crazy lol!!!
-
Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! Friday night Rory and me went out for a family dinner and Rory went for a dip in the spa. I was worried about the chemicals but he had a blast. He was kicking away like mad! I honestly think we have an Olympian on our hands.
I went to a Aust day champagne breakfast on Saturday which was nice. Last night Dwayne and I went out for a romantic dinner......at the local pub......with Rory......then bought Mc Donald’s Sundae's for sweets LOL! That’s as romantic as my Dh gets :)
Noni - I have been on the WW website and it confused the hell out of me! Not much help sorry. I’ve missed so many posts so forgive me for asking, what’s wrong with Asha? I hope she is okay! Did any teeth come through in the end??
Hayley - Which tooth is coming through?? Have you been giving her Panadol? I am not sure if I should give it to Rory...I’m a bit funny about giving him Panadol.
Katie - I hope you get an early night!
Cally - You domestic goddess you! I can’t remember the last time I cooked a decent meal!! I am a shocker for microwave veggies, a bit of meat and packet pasta...EEK! I’m glad Katie had a great time in the water :)
Just a quick question, Do teeth have an ordering in which they come through?? Rory has two lumps where is K9 (I hope that’s what you call them LOL) teeth should be? But I always thought it was the front two that come down first???
Better run, we are taking Rory for a swim at his nan & pops :)
-
-
i think its traditionally the bottom two that are first.. they do have an order but i dnt really know it lol though some babies differ from that order..
Asha had a tummy bug but shes on the mend now i think :)
-
Renee - Baby Love says that normally the bottom two come first (6m), then top 2 (9m), then bottom incisors (10m), top incisors (11m), then top canine (18m), bottom canine (19m). Top canine at about 18 months. It also says that teeth can come at any age, in any order.
Hope that helps.
Just made some banana and chocolate bread - didn't work very well, dodgy oven so the bottom is burnt and the inside only just cooked. Oh well, we can cut off the burnt bits, the rest still tastes alright.
-
Hey everyone
Well we have been having slightly better nights and thankfully DH hasn't been creating some extra night feeds LOL. Having a grizzly day today with not great sleeps - I think her teeth are bothering her again.
Reading Magic is a great book. A relo gave it to us as a gift when Maia was born with a Mem Fox pack of books - a really great gift that we are now passing on ourselves. Maia loves being read too. We spend at least one uptime a day doing some reading during which she "talks" and squeals all the way through, only stopping when I put the book down :-)
It is getting harder given she is rolling everywhere and we lay on the floor together to do it. I will have to check out the library sessions when she gets a bit older - i think they have them here - I hope so as the next town is way too far away.
Infants friend - we are using and also Brauer's Teething Formula (both natural) - still not sure if they do anything yet but no bad side affects either.
JazMum - we have a little worm on our hands too as she has this sliding thing going too. Trying to keep up with the rolling was hard enough so this new face-planting sliding thing is something else... funny to watch though. She's growing up soooo fast!
-
Cally, banana and choc bread sounds yummy. I want some now.
LP, how is everything? Hope you are off enjoying your bonus week of school holidays lol
Do bubs at this age learn by imitation? Last night we went to DH cousin's house. They have a 10 month old who was rolling everywhere and has just started crawling. Today W rolled from his tummy to his back (could only do back to front before), and started pushing his knees up when on his tum. It's like he never thought of it but after seeing it decided to attempt it for himself lol
We got DH official job offer today, he is getting an reasonable pay hike from what he was getting here which is almost unheard of to be getting more in NZ than Oz. There is also subsidised housing so rent will be cheap and they are going to pay relocation costs which we weren't expecting so it is like winning money.
Sherie - What happens in your town if a pregnancy is considered high risk? I am a bit concerned about being in a small town when we have bub #2. The closest hospital is two hours away, I doubt any regional medical centres will take me because I am 'high risk' because of GD.
-
for those with teething babies.....checked dp's "bible" (what to expect the first year) and the chart says that the front (center) teeth (2 top and 2 bottom) are the firsts to come out, then the 2 on either side, then the 2nd to the last on each side, then the one in between the one that came in 2nd and 3rd, and last are the molars.
common signs: drooling, chin or face rash, a little cough, biting, pain, irritability, refusal to feed, diarrhoea, low-grade fever, wakefulness, gum haematoma, ear pulling/cheek rubbing. there's more in the book ellaborating on each sign.
possible treatments: something to chew on, something to rub against, something cold to drink, something cold to eat, something to relieve the pain.
hope this helps.
sorry, no other personals. as it is, it's taken me about 2-3 hours to send this short thing out. :)
-
Thanx Fianne - Rory has been drooling, coughing a little, biting EVERYTHING, irritability, Fussing when fed and chewing on the bottle, slight diarrhoea, wakefulness, ear pulling, cheek rubbing and poking himself in the eyes!!!!!
-
lol my ww online thing is magically working again no idea what happened there lol... oh i am so off the ww path the past two weeks the end of this week has been good (my week is wed to wed coz thats when i go to ww) but after last weeks gain i goit depressed and pigged out on chocolate biscuits etc etc.... ah well will find out on wednesday...
fianne - Ashas been like that for months and still no teeth ahhhhh
arte - thats great news about dhs job offers!!!
bilbly - we use the teething formula too sometimes do you find it helpful? i found for asha its more an extension ie if i give her panadol then that it makes it last a bit longer but by itself if she is really bad it wont help...
cally - chocolate banana bread!! its stuff like that that makes ww so hard lol that sounds sooo delish lol
renee - Asha has got herself in the eyes a few times too!!
