leanne, i know what you mean about "face facing the mattress"....am not sure why, but when i put max to sleep, she gets to a stage just before totally falling asleep when she rubs her face on me full face on....and stays that way for a few seconds/minutes...i sometimes worry if she can breathe but she turns her face sideways again before i really get concerned.
it's so cute that the boys play with olivia...i am resolute on not having another one (am 37 this year and body's feeling like 77) but when i look at max and think how sad that she doesn't have anyone to play with....may yet change my mind.
agnes, tell me about the fake coughing!!! i worry that she's choking and i look at her and she's just got this impish smile on her face. grrrrr.... :)
katie, same here...still part of the tired mums group. was looking forward to an afternoon nap when dp's home this weekend but it's not going to happen. dp's bday today and we've got friends coming over for dinner tomorrow night. am cheating by buying marinated lamb and chicken from coles to roast. have peeled and sliced some vegies already to go with the roasts. was going to make the sticky date pudding today but decided to put it off to tomorrow so it's "fresher"....it's pretty quick and easy anyway.
and then on sunday, we've got bbq with mums, dads, and bubs from our ante-natal group. the dads were upset that the mums keep making plans and not including them so we've intentionally organized one for a sunday so dads can join. i guess there's next weekend for my nap.
noni, hope you had a good catch up with your old friend. congrats on your weight loss. and am very impressed with your determination to keep fit (and not just lose weight). wish i could be more like you. am soooo unfit. can't even talk myself into going for a walk.
md hope you enjoyed your choccies. isn't it soo good when they're trying to make up to you? he he he. dp got me flowers for valentines' day. pretty sweet. walked past darrel lea and thought to get him some chocolates (he's more of a chocoholic than i am) but thought that he'd actually appreciate a big bar of old jamaica better so i didn't get any and then the sky looked like it was going to open up so i rushed back home before i got max and i wet. so, all he got was a card. didn't get to buy him anything for his bday today either. feel guilty. but, we did say that his bday gift was going to be a bbq.
hmmmm....am thinking i should really get onto facebook. have got quite a few friends who've sent me requests, or whatever it is, on email but figured that if i don't have time to post on bb, where will i find the time for facebook? and might really not get anything done at all around the house!
sherie, poor dh. hope he feels better. but not better enough to go to work. :) i just love extra "days" of dp home.
md, max can actually roll back (used to roll tummy to back before she started to continuously roll) but the frustration of having an arm caught under her when she's on her tummy. oh, and leaving her in her cot isn't safe either these days. left her in the cot yesterday morning while i brushed my teeth and heard this different cry (not really pain but definitely not just frustration) and when i rushed into the room, she'd rolled onto her tummy and her arm had slipped in between the mattress and the side of the cot and she was stuck. i know that they discourage those cot bumpers because of sids but i think i want to get one before she does more injury to herself. anybody know where i can get them?
btw, i told the chn that we've turned max around and she said that legislation actually says that they have to be rear facing until 6 mos. well, the way i figure it, i drive better when she's not crying (am not distracted) so safer to face her forward.
princess waking.....
-
Katie, I saw in another thread someone recommended the Safe T Sleep - it's an antirolling device. If you get too worn out might be worth considering? We have the SafeNSound antirolling thingy, but E mostly wriggles up out of it these days. When she wakes up tho, she goes to sleep and stays asleep where i put her down (thank goodness).
Speaking of wriggling, she managed to wriggle an entire half metre across the floor today (on her tum), not sure she knows how she's doing it, it just sort of happens LOL.
Cally lucky you with the jaffa torte!
Fianne, getting stuck in the cot sounds like it's a problem. I'd still hesitate to get a bumper. Is there a way to fit the mattress into the cot a bit snugger? or was it too snug? Wow you sound like you're pretty organised for dinner tmrw, Happy Birthday to your DP.
The op shop gods were smiling on me this morning, found all these excellent little pants and tops in Os (which I'm desperate for, she'll be into them in a month or two) and 1s. Also a DK tell the time book and a teething toy.
ETA Noni meant to say somethign about your comment about advanced babies, sounds like Asha's doing plenty herself. And they are funny little creatures, there will be a few weeks where they just do the same stuff, then all of a sudden over a week or ten days you see heaps of new things!
-
Katie - Are you still putting Logan into a grobag at night? I found you on FB, after I added the totally wrong person!!!! How funny, once she gets my friend request she will be thinking who is this?! I did think the bub on her lap looked nothing like your Logan. Whoops!
Marydean - Oh I bought the heinz spoons and farex yesterday as well. I'm nervous about starting solids! Well done on your op shop finds. Sometimes you go and there is absolutely nothing worth buying, while other times theres so much.
Noni - I also sometimes think omg Maddie is so far behind, but I guess like everyone says they do things in their own time. You are doing so well with your exercising and weight loss, I on the other hand have demolished an entire packet of caramel tim tams today!!! Guilty as.
Agnes - The fake coughing sounds adorable! Maddie had a little babble today, it was like a mamamama so I was saying back to her mum mum mum. Oooh cant wait till she says mum!
Fianne - Facebook is addictive so be prepared lol.
Cally - So cute when they put their toes into their mouth isnt it!
Leanne - Sounds like Olivia is doing really well. Swimming lessons will be fun. I wonder if Maddie will like weetbix for breakfast too, as it was one of my pregnancy cravings. Some days I wanted to eat it for breakfast lunch and tea, DP would make me eat lots of veges for dinner, but I still had room for weetbix after tea lol.
Renee - She is slowly getting there with the tummy time. Are you still working and if so how is Rory going with Nanna?
Sherie - Hahaha your poor DH. Then again its nothing compared to what us women have to go through with childbirth!! :D
One of the girls at work just announced she is pregnant. I am SO excited. She is still only 5/6 wks so we are keeping it within the office for a bit. Cant wait for another pregnant belly to be floating around the office.
-
Fianne Logan gets his arms and legs stuck through the bars of the cot (they hang outside) so I bought an air wrap and am going to see how that goes. I have just put it on.
MD I was thinking about getting a Safe T sleep, will have a look on the weekend.
Well done with the Op Shopping.
Hayley most nights Logan is still in his grobag. PMSL at you adding the wrong person.
better run Mr magoo is yelling from his cot.
-
hello everyone!!
back from a lovely morning out.. hope we can do it again sometime when they arent working :) caught up with two ppl i used to work with and had some lunch it was really nice to get out and feel like i have some sort of a social life haha..
thanks for the congrats on the weight loss and excersise :) i am off to the netball courts this avo grading is on monday and although i am not aiming to get into a team other than the lowest one haha just hoping for chilled out ppl that arent focused on being really good iykwim? i wanna be able to last the grading all the same lol..
md - wow very spoilt, you deserve it though!!! i know asha will do more soon i just worry cant help it!
speaking of bubs being in weird positions/getting stuck Asha was the wrong way round in her cot this morning lol idk how she got there.. wait did i say that in my other post yes i think i did oops lol..
katie - those air wraps look good was thinking of getting one for Asha :)
haley - if there was a packet of tim tams in my fridge id be demolishing them too lol dont feel guilty everyone needs it sometimes!!! yum!!
fianne - just start slow, 10 min walk is better than nothing you find eventually the more you do the more you feel like doing it coz it ends up making you feel good :)
cally - hope katie gets better soon and you figure out whats bothering her :)
leanne - oh no facing the matress thats a bit scary!!! i mean i know they make matresses so they arent too soft but i wouldnt let Asha sleep like that either in that case.. hows x going after the op?
sherie - hows dh going not too sore i hope!!
hope i havnt missed anyone buh byes for now
-
noni- Congrats on the weight loss. I have not been for about 2 wks but must go on sat. wish me luck.. I am so happy you have a wonderful lunch. You need to do it more often.
X is going great now thanks
Oh I forgot to tell you all DH rang me this morning and told me he had a note left on his car last night at our house. it says Is that you??? did I find you??? call me Leanne... Wtf they did not leave a name or number so how can I ring them. Twits...
Hi to everyone
-
omg Leanne! that's kinda creepy. who do you think it is?
-
Leanne, is that just your DH playing a Valentine's Day joke....??? Otherwise it doesn't make sense...?! Like DD who put a Valentine in the letter box for her Dad, the note said (so mysteriously LOL) "from your secret admirer"! Or like my hairdresser who rang up her DH to thank him profusely for the huge bunch of flowers he didn't send ROFL!
ETA what's an air wrap???
-
leanne - thats soooo weird!!!
an air wrap is like a cot bumper but its safe coz its made from this kinda mosquito netting but elasticy, hard to explain!!
piking out of the netball thing this avo will go for a walk after dinner, if we ever have dinner lol dp said he wanted chicken and then he went and put this whole tray of chicken in the microwave that i dnt like lol and i said thats fine you can have that and i'll have something else then he got the ****s and took it out of the microwave so god knows whats happening now lol
-
Hayley, how is your SIL? Does she have a sling? She can put her baby in the sling during the day while she gets around doing stuffs and usually babies fall asleep in there cause sometimes newborns just want to snuggle close to their mums :) I read that baby wearing is also good for colicky babies.
Hi to everyone else
-
MD - forgot to say before that the mothers room in the Canberra Centre that I have been to is behind the kids clothing in Myer - there is a toilet there. I have seen signs to other ones (eg next to Borders) but haven't been in them.
-
omg!!! it just took me 5 hours to get lewis to sleep!! i kid you not. i was trying every trick in the book from 4.30pm onwards and finally he went to sleep at 9.30. he was so tired but just kept fighting it....what methods do you guys use to put your bubs to sleep?? what's the first thing you do when you see tired signs? do you think they should have a bath at the same time every night? thanks girls. i'm exhausted....
-
Gracie - I figured you were having some probs there, I saw your facebook status lol. I give Maddie a bath at 6pm every night, dress her, give her a bottle if she needs it and then bed. Even if we are going out I bath her to keep the routine in place as much as possible. Maybe he was just having a bad night because he is usually pretty good isnt he?
Agnes - Thanks for asking about SIL. I passed on everyone's suggestions, she went out and bought infants friend. However she said to me he always has a decent sleep in snuggly places like the lounge or their bed, and I said maybe its that he feels wide open and vulnerable in his cot. They are not using a bassinet. He is only a tiny thing, 4 wks old and still in premmie clothing. So she used a cot insert the other night and he slept much better. To tell you the truth, I dont think she thought it would be this much work, and now she's getting a real reality check iykwim. As nice as she is, even I thought when she was pregnant that she was going to be in for a shock because she had no idea about babies lol. Welcome to motherhood!! Also I'll mention the sling because I know she does have a carrier of some sort but whether she is using it to settle him I dont know.
Leanne - What the, how strange!
Noni - Yep I know you have to treat yourself, but on top of the tim tams today, I just polished off a bowl of choc mint icecream. Cant help myself today!!!
Katie - Oh no does he still roll in the grobag??
-
big big hugs gracie! i've had bad settling but never 5 hours! that's horrible. glad that he's finally down though. fingers crossed he'll sleep through till 9:30 tomorrow morning so you get a good night's sleep. does lewis still get wrapped?
with max, it's still the bouncing fit ball and music (specifically dreadlock holiday). also feed her to sleep when i'm too tired. don't think that bath at the same time every night matters as much as what goes before and what follows next. the routine of it. but that's just what i think.
after we went to health centre for her 4 mo. check, the chn told me to make an appt anytime i need to see someone and just to tell the operator that i want to discuss sleeping. so, i assume that you can go to your health centre and consult with a chn on this.
ok, forgot what else i was going to say. too tired for personals. dp's not home yet. gone to watch rugby with people from work. aren't we just sooo romantic?...not. it's his birthday and he's out watching rugby with mates and i'm home with the bub. :) i don't mind. we've just stopped making a big deal about bdays and such ocassions. he did ask for my permission to go....told him to go ahead...it's his bday anyway and he can spend it how he wants to.
-
This week W and myself have been visiting several childcare centres in our area. Some are good but the waiting lists are just horrendous. And I put our name on the waiting lists before he was born :p Havent even had the chance to look into FDC. OMG can believe how hard it is to find a good place for your baby. Sometimes I wonder am I wrong in making decision to go back to work, even for part time???
Katie, I tried to give him a firm no when he bit but he tends to bite at the end of a feed so that didnt exactly work. I hear you on the rolling while sleeping thing, hope you have better sleep tonight.
Noni, how is Asha's tummy. Glad that you had a wonderful day.
Fianne, sounds like Max is doing really well. So cute isnt it when they give us their naughty smiles :)
Cally, hope Katie is okay and the dr apt goes well
MD, half metre wriggling, sounds like E is getting mobile :) It was me who asked about the pram, glad she loves it. Since I removed the bassinet, W seems to like his stroller more.
Hayley, I too looking forward to hear mummy as the first word LOL. Btw how is Maddie adjusting in childcare?
ETA i think your sil will appreciate you even more now that she has faced the real thing
Leanne, thats sounds a bit weird, hope its just a silly joke. Still, a bit annoying though ...
Hugs Gracie. I wish I can give you a good advice, but facing similar problem here. I have been trying to help him sleep by himself for quite sometime now. Most of the time I still rock him to sleep and I am worried on how its going to be like when he needs to sleep in childcare. I am sure someone here can give you the right tips and advice. Hope you can get some rest tonight.
-
hi
new mum in sep do u have a playgroup
-
Hi, we made it!
Been very busy trying to catch up with everyone, buying cars etc.
Took a 'short cut' to our new town yesterday and got there minutes late so missed DH medical lol
Will has been very good, was great on the plane and has been handling all the travel so well.
-
hey hey :)
well i am happy to say we only got up half an hour ago (10am) woohoo finally a good sleep i probably went to sleep around 12 so very happy with that!! possibly off to see an old friend today but dp dosnt really want me to see him because weve been more than friends in the past kinda.. its kinda complicated do you think i am being unfair in wanting to see him?
leanne - ment to say goodluck for ww :)
gracie - big hugs to you.. we usually do bath/shower (but not every night) feed, pyjamas on, in the cot and soother on, usually we only have to go in once to put the dummy back in if at all but this is around 9pm if she is tired during the day i have rarely been successful putting her in her cot as she just screams!! for the day time i usually bounce her in her bouncer when she is tired as she will drift off easily that way..
arte - glad will is doing well with all the travel.. and congrats on finally being there :)
waychee - hi there if you mean a playgroup where we all go and meet up together some belly belly girls do have meet ups for coffe or whatever but alot of us live in different states or too far away from each other.. your welcome to join in on our thread though if you like everyone is very supportive here :)
agnes - Ashas tummy is much better thanks, just think as much as she wants solids she is only ready for little tastes now not actual spoons full of things, she did fine with it before it just happened all of a sudden think shes just not ready... its hard the whole going back to work/putting your bub in childcare thing.. i at the moment have chosen not to put Asha in care but there is part of me that would like a part time job and probably benefit greatly from it oh well lol..
-
Gracie - we tend to resort to the 'magic boobies' if DD won't settle. Depends on how tired I am as to how quickly they come out! Occasionally they don't work though and that is always very disappointing!! I hold her legs down to stop her kicking and sing Baa Baa Black Sheep quietly to her, that often works.
We do bath about an hour after she wakes up from her last afternoon nap. Then it is massage and pj's on, then quiet time in the lounge room where we read books or sings quiet songs. The moment the tired signs happen, it's into her room for a last feed and then bed. The routine was a bit loose before so we're trying really hard at the moment to make it work better. We don't have a firm time for the bath because we never know when she is going to wake up from the last afternoon sleep - sometimes it is 4:30, sometimes it's 6:15!!
For daytime, we see 2 tired signs (occasionally I go with my gut though and just put her down and that works too), wrap her up, cuddle, toy, say 'Goodnight Katie, time for sleeps', close curtains and leave. Often don't have to go back in, if I do it's usually just because the toy has rolled too far for her to get.
Arte - glad you made it, hope the unpacking and everything else goes well.
I'm getting the best of both worlds today, went back to bed for a nap this morning while DH looked after K and she only slept for 45 minutes. Now he's at cricket and she's having her big nap of the day now so I get lots of mummy quiet time.
Hope everyone has a good day.
-
ok so i went and saw that friend lol apparantly not a good idea as it all ended in tears and me telling dp not to bother to come home dnt know where we go from here...
-
Oh Noni, hope you and DP sort it out.
One hour seems to be the stage at which K realises that she's not going to get fed and might as well give up and go to sleep. But boy that hour goes slowly (and Baa Baa Black Sheep gets a workout). Hopefully she will reduce that soon.
-
Gosh Noni I hope you get that sorted out, hope it was all a heat of the moment thing. Let us know how you get on. xxx and
Yay Arte for arriving at the other end! How exciting. Good to hear W travelled so well. Enjoy your settling in days, when everything is new and exciting! :)
Gracie, far out what a marathon. We watch for the tired signs, then a quick nappy check and sometimes a feed (depending on how long it's been) and then we wrap her up (folded so the arms stay under) and I pat and jiggle her for a couple of minutes then into her cradle. We have this toy that plays Fur Elise when you pull the string, so that goes on. If she's snoozy I just walk out, if not a bit more pat and rock in the cradle. If she cries, I let her go for a minute or so, then back in for another pat (without picking her up). Just until she looks more relaxed then out again. If she's really boucing around in there wide awake, we get her up for another 20-30mins then try again.
Cally thanks for that tip, I didn't even think of Myers. I bet there's one in DJs too.
Agnes, good luck with your child care search, that's on my list of things to do...still not sure when I'll go back to work yet - some things happening with DHs work (he might be going away for a few months again) so really not sure how to proceed at this point.
Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend, special shoutout to Jazmum (thought of you at Chinese soup last night), LP if you're reading and Queenie (hope all's well hun). xxx
ETA Katie, well after saying about the SafeNSound antiroll thingy I've now renamed it the UNsafensound and removed it from the cradle. She took a while to settle this afternoon and I went in there after 10 mins, and she had got it out from under her bum and it was up near her face (!!!!!!) That's that, then.
-
Noni - Oh no sounds like a jealously thing. I hope you can sort it all out.
Arte - Well done to Will for being a good boy on the plane! How is your new town? Do you like your house? Sounds so exciting!!! I've always wanted to move to Melbourne, maybe one day.
Marydean - Oh my goodness how did she manage to get the safe and sound undone? Thats pretty scary. In regards to work, the longer you can stay at home with E the better I say. Thanks for your heads up about the Big W baby sale, they have some excellent specials. I spent a bomb in there today, stocked up on formula while it was cheap, bought a couple of those mesh feeding thingos, dummies, puree storage thingos for the freezer, bottle brushes, random toys $5.00 and $8.00 each!!!!, baby dunlops (so so cute) and got myself a pair of $20 shoes for work.
Gracie - Hope you had more luck with settling Logan tonight. Cheeky boy hehe.
Cally - Just a suggestion, have you ever tried keeping K awake as much as possible after say 4pm. I have found in the past if I let Maddie have her arvo nap too late in the day, she wont sleep again till 9ish. If I keep her awake after 4pm she is ready for bed at 6 and settles with no hassles. Unless that would make K overtired and even harder to settle? All bubs are different though, and do what works best for you, but just another thing to try if you are game lol. Btw like your idea of quiet and calm playtime before bed.
Agnes - Yes it is so hard finding that perfect care for your bub. And you have to be happy as well and know for sure that he will be safe there, otherwise you will spend your time at work worrying about Will all day and its not worth it. I am reasonably happy with where Maddie is, but I think its natural instinct for a mother to not be 100% happy, no one can care for bub as well as mum can. Also dropping him off you will get the guilts, it will always be that way, but thats only because you are a good mother. Re sleeping in childcare, at my center they try to put all the young bubs to bed around the same time, but obviously that doesnt always work because they are not all tired at the same time. If you are rocking Will to sleep and want them to continue that, they will do it for you. They will provide you with a form asking questions all about Will, his routine, feeding and sleeping habits etc. They do whatever you want them to do. I hope you can find a place that you are happy with.
Fianne - Dreadlock holiday lol!!!!! I agree, its his bday let him spend it how he wants to. Besides time apart makes for a healthy relationship. Hope he had a good time and didnt feel too hung over this morning.
I finally got my eyebrows waxed today, they were looking like bushy caterpillars!
-
Noni, hope everything is o.k.
Renee, about the birth, there was no gushy moment for me either. I had a surreal feeling as he was being born, that I was actually giving birth but had no movie-like surge of love or anything when he was born. I just saw a greyish lump on the bed and then saw they were about to cut the cord so I put my hand in the way and said no. It didn't even occur to me that he wasn't breathing. After a minute or so on the trolley he was handed to me and I remember thinking he wasn't as goopy as I had expected and he was a bit squashed and funny looking. It took a few weeks before I could actually say I loved him.
Having a hard time remembering what has happened. JaZmum is o.k, she is busy with school, kindy and family time at the moment but will be back when she has some free time.
I have been naughty and have been letting W sleep in the bed with us. It is so much easier but now I doubt I will be able to get him back in the cot. I am so lucky he is such a cruisey baby, he has been so good with all the travelling we have done. He did cry for about 1/2 hour in the car the other day (fianne, I feel so sorry for you!) but he had been in the car all day so I don't blame him. We have got a big car seat now too as he is almost too big for the capsule.
DH has to go to our new town this week to start work, W and I are still staying at mums because we don't have our new house allocated yet and our stuff is still on its way.
Hi to everyone I have missed. MD, hope your DH doesn't have to go away for a long time again.
-
good morning ladies, thanks for all your advice on settling. last night was much better, i really think the injections maybe gave him a headache or something as he is usually pretty cruisey. he just didn't seem himself and was so cranky@!!
arte- so glad the move went well. sounds like w is a great little traveller!
hayley- i went to big w too. wanted some more easysuits but they only had 000 and 0000 left, so bought some wondersuits for winter and 2 boxes of huggies- i'd gone all that way, i had to get something! lol
noni- hope everything is ok with dp. let us know that everything is ok, yeh?
well gotta go ladies, we're heading out for breakfast (i'll never lose weight at this rate!). will pop back on this arvo- hot here again today!
-
hey all will bbs just jumping on to let u know everything was sorted out last night.. idk id the problem is fixed but its ok for now iykwim.. if i ever want to be friends with thi guy i dnt knw how its going to happen though so see how we go..
-
Morning all!
Hello and welcome Waychee!
Hello across the ditch to Arte!!!! So happy you made it across there in one piece and that Will coped with it all so well. Does it feel strange being in 'whole other country' again? Thanks for letting us know how Jaz is getting on.
Gracie, glad last night was so much better for you. I read how long it took you to settle him and I wished I had of been there to give you a hand with him.
Noni, oh hunny, I really hope that you and DP can work things out between you. Do you think he would feel better about your friendship if you didn't see each other alone and kept it to group situations?
Hi MD! I read in The Land newspaper this week that the Bald Archies will be in Canberra at the Watson Arts Centre from March 6 to April 2 if you're still interested. I am getting somewhat ready for solids too. I have stocked up on Rafferty's Garden cereals and purees when they've been on special and brought some Tommee Tippee food containers (3 pack with the spoon) when Target had them on special last week. I really need more spoons though as I have lost most of mine over the years since their last use.
Cally, sounds like you need a tape recording, or does Miss K like her music live and unplugged? ;)
Big news here - Alister is commando crawling!!!!! Little angel is growing up far too fast for me. He must have been doing it for about a week I reckon because whenever I would put him on the floor, go away and come back, he would be in a completely different spot to where I left him and I was just assuming that he was rolling, but yesterday the kids came out to the kitchen all excited saying that he was crawling (I was in the kitchen), so I went and had a look and he's getting up on his legs and pushing off and then he'll stretch his arms right out in front of him and then bring his legs up and push off again. So it's more of a caterpillar crawl LOL and its by no means pretty or graceful to watch, but definately mobile. So I'm a bit sad about that - the longer he wasn't mobile for the longer he was my little baby kwim? Today though I haven't had him on the floor at all - mean mummy doesn't want him perfecting this trick anytime soon ;)
-
sherie - its kinda hard with the group situations thing because i dnt know any of his friends since because of this whole drama hes not with my dps circle of friends anymore.. dp and him cant stand eachother either so no joy there.. its a very complicated situation and i can understand from all sides but i am just frustrated!!! wow well done Alister!!! no sign of that here lol though if i stand her up Asha can hold herself up on her toybox :) cant get her to have more than 5mins tummy time lol
gracie - hope you enjoy your breakfast :)
arte - so glad w is being a good boy!! dnt worry about the sleeping in your bed thing Ash comes to bed with us every morning because we get more sleep that way and it makes us all happier so worth it if u wask me.. we just took pasrt of Ashas carseat out the other day coz she was too big for the capsule style cusioning (we have a convertable carseat)
haley - well done on the eyebrow wax :) its not entirely put down to jegoeslousy its such a messed up situation i hate it!!
md - oh no unsafeand sound how scary!!!
cally - hope she goes down easier for you asap :)
-
Has the quickreply box disappeared from the bottom of the screen?
Hayley - If she is overtired she falls asleep during her last feed, then wakes screaming after the first sleep cycle where we spend 45 minutes getting her back to sleep or feed her again. 4:15 now, I've just put her down, there is no way she would last another couple of hours, whereas if she has a 45 minute nap now, she will be ready for bed at 7 or 7:30.
Bought some Heinz spoons today and some cereal (Raffertys). How long until they're having a full serve of that? The instructions say to add 150mL of water/formula/breast milk to the cereal, I imagine that wouldn't be for a while and we would originally start off with only a couple of tablespoonfuls? I noticed the Rafferty's also has higher iron than the Farex (but more expensive). DH couldn't believe the cost of baby food.
Shere - wow at the commando crawling! We're still waiting for the rolls here.....
DH went out last night - had 10 cans of coke!! Surprise, surprise, he feels hungover, dehydrated and generally yucky today. Silly boy. At least it meant I got to finish off the little bit that was left in the fridge because he felt ill just looking at it!
Glad we bought a pram liner - had a poosplosion in the supermarket today.
ETA - OK, quickreply box is gone, makes sense.
Also, should I be expressing each morning to get a build up of EBM to add to cereal etc?
-
Firstly, yep, the quick reply box has temporarily been turned off. Kelly is trialling it for a week to see how everyone copes with it. It is so the site gets more page impressions. There is a thread explaining it in better detail in Messages from BellyBelly.
I for one am going to take a while to get used to it LOL - I use quick reply most of the time unless I am doing a big post.
Cally, eeewww at your DH drinking so much coke, that's making my stomach churn just thinking about it LOL. With the cereal sometimes you need a lot more liquid than you think to make it the right consistency. I did mix up a bit of the rafferty's rice cereal just to see what it was like (the purple one) and I found that I didn't need much water for it at all compared to what farex was like and not so much like wallpaper paste LOL. And yeah, it is exxie, but I reckon the Heinz ones are dearer (here anyway).

glad it's all sorted noni!
sherie- i wish you could've been here the other night too! i can't believe it took me 5 hours to get him to sleep...oh well, it's cool now. can't believe A is crawling....oh your little boy is growing up...it's so great for your other kids to be able to experience watching him grow up though iykwim? they'll always feel so close to him i reckon, cos they've watched him all the way..how beautiful

ohh i dnt like that because you cant see what everyones said while you are replying!! thrown me completely!!!
the rice cereal we were using (and will when she resumes solids) was bellamys i think, its another organic one, i find the others have too much sugar and dnt taste nice at all!!
no need for babyfood to be expensive just blend up some fruit or veges and there u go though i suppose they arent cheap anymore either...
ummm u see now i dnt know what everyone said!!!
just cleaned the whole loungeroom as dp is doing a temp job tonight dunno if i will kick on to the bedroom or not the bedroom will take longer lol and just looking at it makes me feel a sence of defeat lol..

Noni, when you go to the 'reply to topic' page to do your reply, if you keep scrolling down the page, you will see the last 18 posts from the thread, so you can still see what has been said.
Gracie, fingers crossed you don't (or aren't) having another repeat of last night with Lewis. I bet he was plumb tuckered out after all that too.

Sherie - Well done Alister, thats great! I think we are still a fair way off crawling, as she is only still getting the hang on rolling....and thats only from her back to her side lol.
Cally - Ohhh ok fair enough I think I read one of your last posts wrong, I thought you meant you were having trouble settling her at night, but I think I was getting you confused with Gracie's horror night the other night. I wouldnt be changing anything if she is going to bed at 7 ;)
Noni - Glad everything is sorted with you and DP, its always hard when theres an ex involved.
Gracie - Everyone was going mad in Big W!! Were there lots of pregnant bellies floating around when you went? Glad Logan was good last night, as you said it must have just been the injections that put him out a bit.
Arte - Hope you can get into your own place soon. Has your home in Aus settled yet?
Had a lazy Sunday here today, DP has been at his parents house helping with painting and Maddie and I have just been playing and cleaning. Back to work tomorrow, can you believe I have 3 days away from my baby this week. :( Monday is work as normal, Tuesday I have my uni orientation so I am still sending Maddie to childcare that day, then I am working Wed to make up for Tues. Mum is taking her on Wed. Gonna be a tough week I think, but hopefully it will fly.
Hope everyone else is ok. Still think its weird that LP hasnt been on yet, she was on at least once a day before. ???

ahuh awesome now i see sherie..
lol haley hes not even an ex as such suppose i should explain a lil.. dp and i had a big domestic and he did something he shouldnt have.. his best friend at the time was there and got really mad at him (because he was also close to me) and i ended up leaving dp for an amount of time and staying with this guy.. i dnt think i need to say what happened when i was staying with this friend and i was beside myself upset and we were sleeping in the same bed.. problem was id been with dp for 3 years and was still a capital V lol.. so now that we are back to gether he cant shake the feeling i didnt trust him and didnt for 3 years but after 2 days of staying with this other guy i gave it to him... its a pretty complicated situatuion coz i do still like this guy (as a friend) but every time he comes up dp gets very upset because it makes him think of me giving it to him when i wouldnt with dp for all that time.. does that make sence lol???

What a night! W woke up at 2am screaming and crying. Couldnt be settled by me at all, didnt even want boobs. DH took over and after half an hour he stopped crying. Not sure whats wrong. Poor little guy, he scratched his face right on his rash and we could see some blood :( I think I might take him to the dr again, have been there twice just for this eczema thing. Can it be from something I eat?
Just the usual Sunday, went to church and did some shopping. Bought an elephant soft toy for W, we hope it will be like his comforting toy and can help him sleep better.
A friend came over and brought her 2yo. So cute watching her and W played together. She kept saying 'I want to see baby william, mummy' everytime I spoke to her mum over the phone.
Ok, time to read the posts

Arte, glad the trip went well and yay on Will being so good. This must be a really exciting time for you all. Hope you get everything sorted and can settle in pretty soon. A new house, a new car, sounds thrilling :)
Noni, my heart beat faster reading your post. Hope everything is ok now between you and DP.
MD, thanks. Been having bad dreams about this childcare thing lately. Sorry to hear about the uncertainty atm, hope you & dh can work out whats the best way for you all. On the other hand (me asking a silly question), will you be able to go with dh. It can be like a holiday trip for you and the girls ;)
Oh no, that really is unsafe&unsound! Was thinking about buying it.
Hayley, sounds like you had a good shopping day :) Sending you hugs for the following week. Good that your mum can take care of Maddie.
Gracie, hope you'll have a better night. Yeah it really is hot today, and tmrw and the day after. Probably the last hot days of summer.
Sherie, wow crawling! Alister is so clever, well done boy. LOL at caterpillar crawl. Ikwym they grow so fast, I already miss the time they were newborn.
Cally, hope the rolls come soon
Oh No, sounds like I am the only one who hasnt started giving solids or preparing for that :wall:
Even at mums group, W is the only one who hasnt started solids. He is the youngest there, but still ...

Haley, our house is meant to settle on saturday but apparently the banks are behind so it may be a bit longer. Has yours settled yet?
Sherie, yay for Alister crawling. It is sad how quick they grow, I guess sadder for you because he is your last. W is no where near crawling, he can stand if he is holding something and he can step across the room if I am holding him up. I didn't crawl but walked at 8.5months so I won't be surprised if he does the same.
I have started W on solids but he isn't very impressed with it. He pulls a yuck face when it goes in his mouth. I have just been using normal milk with the farax, I have never expressed and I can't see any harm in it - FF bubs have cow milk all the time. He had some watered down apple juice which he liked so I got him apple puree but he wasn't very keen on that.

So much to catch up on.
Arte glad you made it to NZ with no hassels.
Agnes Logan isn't on solids yet, I am waiting until he is 6 months. He has a suck on apple occassionaly and has tried the rice cereal once or twice.
Noni I hope everything is sorted out between you and your DP.
Hayley I hope this week goes quickly for you. I have been wondering about LP too, hopefully it is something as simple as her computer going on the blink and not having the money to fix it.
Sherie thats both exciting and sad that A is crawling. Must be so cute to watch.
Cally ewww at your DH drinking that much coke, did it take him all night to fall asleep? Good question about expressing BM for cereal. I was just going to use cool boiled water, how much would we need to express?
Gracie glad Lewis is sleeping better, the needles really throw them off don't they. How nice going out for breakfast we went out for breakfast last weekend and we are doing it again this weekend, it makes you feel really spoilt dont you think.
MD Oh no at the safe and sound thing, we started using one on Sat (before I read your post). So far Logan hasn't managed to get it on top of him but he is getting cranky that he cant roll over. I will be keeping a close eye on it.
Hi to Queenie, Renee, Jazmum and Supa and I am sorry to anyone I forgot. There is so many of us now and its so hard to catch up.
I had such a great weekend but I miss my mum already, I had tears in my eyes when I dropped her at the airport last night. Argh I need to do the groceries today  better go make a list.
