Sherie happy birthday to Lindsay for yesterday.
Pregpan glad you and N are getting better.
Cally how is K's nappy rash now? Are the creams working?
Agnes we sit Logan in the washing basket on top of a pillow, he loves it.
Jazmum good to "see" you. How cute at H crawling.
Noni congrats on the weight loss, dont be to hard on yourself a loss is a loss!
Fianne I havent heard of the time to eat sessions, you will have to let us know how they go.
Argh gotta run Mr Magoo is in need of a sleep. Be back later
-
Nappy rash is looking a bit better. Will see how it goes with the new cream.
We got 4 books at the library, 3 are good, the other is a bit average.
We had 5 nights of resettling K back to sleep if she woke less than 5 hours since last feed - last night she slept 8 hours straight. YAY!! BUT - not getting my hopes up yet.
Jaz - that's great the Hannah is crawling, how exciting. K was pushing off my legs yesterday during tummy time and inching forward.
I don't think I really had that 'special moment'. I still find it weird saying 'my daughter'.
Fianne - those sessions sound good, we don't have that here.
Sherie - think we might stock up on some more of the Rafferty's stuff this week while it is still on special.
Well I'm off to bed - K had a good night last night, but I had a shocker, fingers crossed we both have a good one tonight! I bought a Brauer Insomnia spray today, in case I have another 1.5 hours of awake time in the middle of the night.
-
Hi ladies - it's getting quiet in here, I think our babies are all getting bigger and more demanding. I read something in Pinky's book last night that I thought would probably apply to all our babies and I thought of you all - will try to find it again and post it when I do.
Gracie, the mumsnbubs session was fantastic! I couldn't believe how much the kiddies were NOT a distraction. It's like they turn up the dialogue and turn down the background noises (so as not to startle the little ones). Movie was ok, looking forwards to seeing better movies in future now I know how painless the mumsnbubs experience is!
Cally I'm wondering if your sleeplessness is a low-oestrogen thing? (Just thinking aloud here) If you're Bfing and AF hasn't returned, then the long term lowered oestrogen levels can mimic the sort of symptoms you get when you're menopausal (dry fanny being the main one women notice) cos waking up and staying awake in the middle of the night is one of those telltale menopause things. Not that I'm suggesting you're having menopause, only I wouldn't be surprised if there's a connection between the two (remembering that there are other health benefits from BFing hormonal levels like protection from certain cancers etc as well).
Has anyone joined a playgroup yet? I'm tossing up between Gymbaroo which is a bit of a drive and a local playgroup (less exciting, but cheaper and more local). Also looking into some baby sign language classes.
Sherie we tried the washing basket thing but Bettybubs just plops forwards LOL! Maybe in a few weeks time.
Speaking of plopping forwards, we keep finding her with her feet where her head should be in her cradle, it's a bit of a mystery cos the cradles not very wide. She got wedged across ways this afternoon, might be time for the big girl cot (tho I will miss the rocking motion of the cradle). Not letting DH use it an excuse to move her out of our room yet tho!!

hello everyone
It is 11.30pm, W has just gone to bed. I was trying to get him to sleep for 3 hours. His head feels a bit hot and he is very grumbly. I think it is either teeth or a bug (sort of expecting it with the change of climate/environment).
Haven't had dinner yet, but I guess I will give that a miss now.
JaZmum, good to see you back. Yay for commando crawling. Hope you feel better about leaving Z at kindy soon.
Aglinra, I know walkers are supposed to be dangerous (I call it 'the death trap' lol) but the wheels can lock and there are no stairs/pools around here. The newer ones are much better than the old style ones, they don't tip easily. With 9 dogs running around here I think he is actually safer in it lol.
Sherie, Happy Birthday to Lindsay. 7 is so big! I don't even remember W's birth that well and that was only 5.5months ago! I mainly remember being so so tired.
MD, I am going to join a mothers group as soon as I get to my new town. I don't think they have anything fancy like gymbaroo there though. I was thinking about baby sign language but have been wondering if the use of sign delays speech? I tend to think that if a bub has an alternate means of communication then speech won't be as neccessary? Haven't done a lot of reading about it so I would be interested in your opinion. I am guessing that my long term lowered oestrogen levels are the cause of the zero bedroom action at my house? Poor DH, I do feel mean but honestly there is too much else going on.
My stupid real estate agent didn't give my forwarding address to my solicitor so no one told me I needed to sign mortgage release papers so now we have to extend settlement by two more weeks.
-
Hello lovely ladies!! What a week it has been! My uni orientation was excellent, I am really looking forward to starting uni, cant wait to be a home economics teacher woo hoo!!! Its gonna take me yrs at this rate though...but I figure as Maddie gets older I will take up more units. Work wise, I may be leaving, not 100% sure as of yet. Financially I dont need to work anymore, but mentally I'm not sure? I enjoy work, but at the same time I am very aware that babies dont stay babies for long and life is too short to miss your children growing up. So its something to think about I guess. We went to mums group in the park today and I slathered Maddie & Myself with tonnes of sunblock and kept a hat on her the whole time - she is fine no sunburn anywhere, but I've missed a few spots on me and of course I got burnt lol. Always the way.
Arte - Poor Will doesnt sound like a happy chappy tonight. I hope it isnt a bug that he is coming down with, let us know how he is tomorrow morning. Lol Arte, no action in the bedroom happening in this house either! Real estate agents are a pain arent they, hope you can get the mort docs signed and back asap.
Sherie - That was lovely reading what you wrote about Lindsay. Sounds like time really does fly with kids. I agree with Gracie, you are an excellent mummy!
Fianne - How is the tooth going?
Jazmum - We've missed you too!!! How was Zoe's day at Kindy today? Do they go every day at that age?
Marydean - I agree the mums and bub sessions are such a cool idea. You dont even notice the babies crying. How did E go, did she look at the giant screen in awe? Hehe
Cally - I use that insomnia spray from time to time too. Not sleeping is horrible!! I get myself all worked up about it and then I really cant sleep.
Noni - All this talk about netball is making me want to get back into it too! How is it going, have they put you into teams yet? I agree with the whole having fun thing, not fun when everyone gets too serious.
Queenie - Aw nice birth story! :)
Pregpan - Has the cold gone or is it still hanging around?
Gracie - How is little Lewis? Had any more repeats of your horror night that you had a few days ago? Maybe more than a few days ago....lol cant believe its Thursday!
Katie - How is Logan going these days?
Who mentioned cashmere mafia? I watched it last night and I thought it was alright. It has nothing on sex and the city though!!!! Oooh that underbelly is also very good.
-
Hi Girls,
Well I can not sleep. I am also getting the cold and my nose wont stop running. Apart from that all is good the kids are all good and so is DH. No more notes on the cars so it must have been a joke.
Jazmum- congrats to H for crawling
Pregpan- glad you are all feeling better
Art- Bummer on the settlement Ihope it all gets cleared up soon.
Hello to everyone :hello: and I am going to try to get some sleep.
-
hi all - just a quick one from me, we are off to melbourne for the weekend and I have to dash to get our flight. i have a feeling N will be a bit more of a challenge on the plane today - he is so much more active than last time... and DH not flying down til the evening so I am on my own with him - wish me LUCK! at least we are flying back together on mon morning.
MD - i enjoy gymbaroo a lot, but it isnt rocket science... so if it is a hassle then i wouldnt be too upset to miss it. just my opinion. also the regular teacher isnt doing it this term (she is unwell) and the new teacher is lovely but not as good so the class has been a bit of a hodge podge this term (i am assuming you mean the class in forrest which is where i go??). where do you live? i have also been looking into rocking horse music classes, they do a session at creche and it is excellent. i think there is a wait list for those classes though. the playgroup will prob be more social for you even if gymbaroo is more structured for E.
Creche went better yesterday - the main carer has moved to a diff room and the vibe is different (i dint think she was a prob b4 but now i wonder) and they were so much lovelier to Noah yest. I am still not convinced i want to take him there (interviewing a nanny on tue in fact) but i did feel a whole heap better for it.
Ooooh today I meet one of my best friend baby boy when i get to melb - cant wait (he is 1 month!!).
OK better go, sorry not many personals - have a wonderfulw eekend everyone!
Arte - hope W doesnt get sick!
xxx
-
sherie - i love seeing her personality. she is pretty easy going and from what i can tell she is a lil tough nut.
Pregpan - Things are going well, thank you. I hope you and Noah are great.
Ozstar - yeah juggling everything as normal. lol. mummy/student/housewife/cleaner hee hee. i am lucky my husband is very supportive with everything although i am still waiting for him to vaccuum.
Artechim - i can NOW see why everyone was asking us when we were planning on having kids. its cause they are so fun - they weren't being intrusive after all.
Marydean - thanks for thinking of me! Yes, back at TAFE i'm doing mon nights and tuesdays. mon night DH comes with me and works in the library and tues i leave T at DH's work as there is a lady there who is more than happy to look after her. lucky there! its only for 2.5 hrs so i feed her b4 i leave.
Noni - I so know what you mean about struggling to loose weight. I have only been walking but once a week and of course walking in the shopping centres during the heat wave. i'm about to go for another walk now - around the block. i still have the same 8kgs to loose. love the big jelly over the belt. some pants i still can't do up the button and the zipper digs into me. ouch!
SOLIDS - T is going to have to wait til 6 mths as i am a bit scared to start and i figure T is not missing out - she is 8.2kg well she was 2 wks ago.
-
well dp is at a potentially ongoing job today so wish us luck lol hes been a bit hopeless lately with screwing things up.. like yesterday he was at the same place but he locked his keys and steel cap boots in the car onsite and by the time his brother could come and unlock it for him with a spare so he could get his boots (bout an hour later) they were all too annoyed and sent him home.. dp has a talent for locking his keys in the car i was soooo angry.. they have given him another chance today so i hope he is trying his absolute best!!
he got another job offer that starts monday too but the pay is less and its further away, its hard because that job would actually be less labour involved and he might benefit from something not so grueling but the pay is sooooo much less and its an hours drive as apose to this one which is less than half an hour.. we will see i spose as long as he has a job thats the main thing.. i was saying to him the other day, even though i would rather him have the one thats closer and pays more, theres no point in chosing that over the other one if hesjust gonna quit it coz its too hard iykwim.. we will see...
supab - wow you have so much on your plate you go girl!!! i still wanna lose about 5kgs, have lost my baby weight but wasnt thin to start with lol.. was it you on mclouds? whens that gonna be?
pregpan - enjoy melbourne :)
leanne - good to hear there hasnt been any more notes! that was a little creepy! hope your cold clears up asap
haley - will find out in the next few days i think what team i am in and when we train etc then i assume training will start.. its not too late to get into it the first game isnt till 29th march here, not sure where you live though? glkad the uni thing was good :)
arte - sorry to hear about the real estate stuff up hope its cleared up for you soon!! how is W today?
md - baby sign language classes are interesting, my boss did them.. though for some reason some of the signs arent the same as general sign language, suppose its to make them easier for bubs.. all this talk about gymbaroo has me interested whats the idea with that?
cally - glad the nappy rash is getting better
hi to everyone else :)
-
Supablondie - I've got a little chubba too, Maddie is 8kgs. I'm scared about starting solids!! I was thinking I may try some farex this weekend.
Pregpan - Hope the flight goes well, good luck. How exciting jetting off to Melb for the weekend! I sooo want a holiday...Thailand sounds perfect haha!
Leanne - Hope you finally got some sleep last night, hate it when I cant sleep.
Noni - Oh no I am miles away from you, I'm in Perth. I used to play netball for a club and did it for years, but I lost interest. All this talk about netball though is making me feel like playing again.
What, who is going on Mcleods???!!!
I got an absolute bargain off ebay, a leapstart learning gym for $10 and it turned out the woman lived literally around the corner from me, very handy. It is the coolest toy, baby can use it lying down on their back or you can adjust it to a sitting position. I put Maddie in the bumbo in front of it and she loves it. Its a multicultural toy as well which is good.
I got angry at DP last night because he told me I dont do anything and I dont have a hobby. I dont have time for a hobby thank you very much, I have a baby to look after, I work two days a week and I'm starting uni next week!!! People ask me how I even manage all that!
-
Hi Girls,
Hayley- tell DP to pull his head in. You have enough to do.Dont blame you for being mad.
Pregpan- Have a great weekend in Melbourne
SubaB- Starting solids is always scary.
Hello to everyone and have a great day
-
We've got the Tinytalk package here, but I haven't really gone through it yet. I think I just want to learn the basic signs though that I can see us using a lot.
Well last night's sleep was bad - fed at 8, resettled at 11, fed at 1, fed at 4, resettled at 4:30! She was awake at 7:30, but mum played with her for an hour before I woke up which was good.
Hayley - I think you're doing very well with everything. All I'm doing is being a mum and it's hard work!
Pregpan - hope the flight is good, at least it is only relatively short.
Noni - hope DP's job goes well.
MD - Interesting thought about the low hormone levels. Luckily I'm not having the hot flushes!!
-
Hi Ladies
just popped into to tell you guys that im feeling the like the worse mum in the world!!
Rory was lying down yesterday so i lifted him up into the sitting position by his arms and I heard I 'click'. He started screaming and I couldnt get him to stop, he had bright red spots all over his head because he was crying so much. I didnt understand what was wrong so I tried to get him to sleep. After a 1/2 hour nap he was still crying and he wouldnt use his arm. I rushed him to the Drs and it turns out he had 'pulled arm', it was pulled out of place....BY ME! But between me getting him out of the car and seeing the Dr it clicked back into place by itself.
Poor little guy, he must think Im awful!
-
oh Renee! you poor thing. I must admit i have been a bit wary of doing that, my mum warned me about that. no harm done though - the little touch blighter. babies 'bounce' back thank goodness.
Hayley - since T is so big and doesn't need solids, i am going to go with the 'exclusive b/feeding for 6 months'. we'll see how that goes.
Noni - 5kgs will just drop off lol, when ppl say that to me, i say WHEN? Yes it was me that is GOING to be on McLeod's. I think it is going to start airing in March. so its coming up! i'm keeping my eyes peeled.
-
ohh renee if it makes u feel any better yesterday i couldntfind the nail scissors so i used the baby clippers n clipped part of her finger off :( she was screaming n it was bleeding i felt so awful n thought for sure shed hate me but i was the one she wanted comfort from so it all worked out :) can hardly see it now.. put some magic paw paw cream on it hehe..
so today i went to the chemist to get more scissors as i never hurt her with those n they only had these sister browns ones that were 8:95 i got them anyway n when i got to theregister they scanned as manicare at 3.95 lol i didnt say nething n got a bargin yay hehe...
-
Oh Renee, hun you are an excellent mummy, it was an accident (and the first of many among our little thread group because that's just a part of having kids and looking after them, you can't stop every accident from happening, you just can't). I'm all teary now, I know you are feeling really bad (trust me I have been there, and more than once) but you have to just forgive yourself, put it down to experience, and move forwards. It was unlucky that it was you but it could have been any of us I guess, we'll all be more careful now having read that it happened to you.
Noni - *snap* I have snipped a bit of finger too  though E didn't react as much as it sounds like Asha did. We try to be gentle but sometimes our best efforts don't work.
Thanks Pregpan for the comments on Gymbaroo, we're in the deep south, past Tuggeranong, so it'd be a decent 25 mins in the car to Forrest. We had Kindergym back home in SA from a similar age, it was excellent. We also did a toddler music class which was fantastic (H still has a good ear for music now) and very entertaining so I'd say go for it! Let us know how the nanny interview goes! Enjoy your weekend away :)
Noni, Good luck to DP and I hope it works out well on the job front. He sounds just like my DH at the same age, constantly locking his only set of keys inside the car or worse in the boot (the car had been rebuilt and there was something behind the back seat so you couldn't even pull the seat out to get into the boot)! LOL He has improved with age (tho you will remember he went off to work - about to fly out - with my car and house keys just a couple of months ago).
SupaB am I right, are we looking out for the yellow tshirt? Sounds like you've got your TAFE arrangements covered really well!
Hayley yes E was all a-goggle at the cinema screen, she loves the telly too (much more visually driven than H was at the same age and she doesn't dance and sing like H did, so 2 v.different girls already). BTW woohoo at your ebay bargain.
Arte, the sign is always given to the baby with the accompanying word said aloud. It actually aids speech development, (signing babies often develop bigger vocabularies earlier than non-signing babies) and it's a tool that's used with kids that have developmental delays as well (to assist with speech development). The main reason we're doing it was because H was a very clever little girl who understood a lot but had a bit of a speech delay so we went through a couple of very rough, tantruming years where she was frustrated by not being able to express herself. Signing helps the baby/toddler to 'voice' their needs while they are still pre-verbal. Hoping for a smoother ride this time round (although the speech delays tend to run in the family so E may develop one as well)!
Cally friends of mine used the tiny talk system, we spent time with them when their DD was just learning to sign milk, dog and birdy! LOL Soooo Cute!
BTW Jazmum I didn't say how impressed I was with Hannyhooha's commando crawling...I think Sherie said A's doing similar now too! I tell E every day to learn to crawl but she much prefers the invisible wiggle (where you never actually *see* her move but every time you look over she's travelled about a foot)! LOL
-
renee- thank you so much for letting us know what happened to Rory. i lift lewis up by his arms ALL THE TIME! i kid you not. thanks to you i won't be doing it anymore, so you may have saved it from happening to lewis! thank you
just a quick post as i'm typing with one finger, lewis is wriggling round on my lap. he has a tooth! just one little one down the bottom, might explain why he's been so crabby.
met up with some BBers at a cafe near my place today, was really nice. wish i could meet up with all you guys, oh well!
gotta go, lewis is wriggling all over the place!!!
-
Thanx so much for your posts guys :) Means alot.
I thought it was okay to lift babies up by the arms into the sitting position when they were older . Heck the Dr did it to Rory when he did the reflex test before he let us leave hospital. I wont be doing that again. No dizzy wizzys for the little fella when he is older either!
Rorys big smiles today have made me feel better.
Dwayne is away for the week in Adelaide :( I was dreading the call to tell him about what I did to Rory
Gracie - Whoa Lewis has got a tooth!! How exciting. Hope he doesnt suffer too much with it. I only just realised the other day when I was reading my book that you need to clean the tooth as soon as it appears. Makes sense doesnt it but I just never thought of it LOL .
Does anyone know where LP is?? Did she have a birth announcement sms partner? Maybe they could send her a quick sms just to let her know we are thinking of her and the girls.
xoxoxox
-
Awww Renee you poor thing, I can imagine how you must have felt. I always pull Maddie into the sitting position, I thought it was good for strengthening their necks! Wont be doing it again, how awful. Although accidents happen with kids and I'm sure there will be many more. OMG It never occured to me to clean a baby's new teeth either, far out!
Cally - Tinytalk sounds so cool, where did you hear about it?
-
omg! do you mean i have to clean the tooth? are you serious?
-
Went to library session yest, 7 babies there and guess what all boys! Even last week there was only 1 girl, what a tough competition LOL
Visited a few more chidcares and one actually offered 1 day a week starting now. ATM I am more inclined not to take it. We're off next mth for 3weeks to see my parents. I dont want him to start and then skip the weeks. Plus a part of me just doesnt want to let him go, still thinking he is too little and want him just for myself. Oh I dont know, maybe I am being selfish here
Katie, he loves the basket too. First he was confused and looking around LOL but a couple of mins later he was playing with the toys
Marydean, our playgroup is just an extension from mums group, we get together at playgroup/kindy where we can use all their facilities, toys, etc. But perhaps in your place it is different though. I am actually looking at kindermusic but we missed the new term so probably when he is a bit older. The baby sign class sounds interesting
Arte, hope Will is okay. Nine dogs, wow I guess you're right on the safety issue LOL Btw, how are your dog and cat, do they need to go through quarantine?
Hayley, feel better now that I missed cashmere mafia thought it'd be like SATC. Sorry to hear about your DP, you have all the right to be angry. So many things on your plate already
Pregpan, hope you have a nice flight. Let us know how you go, W and I are going on a long flight next month. Good to hear the day at creche was better.
Supablondie, sounds like a busy life ATM. So cool, McLeods! Let us now when its coming
Noni, GL with your DP's new job. Hope Asha is okay now, that happened to us when he was 4 weeks old.
Renee, hugs to you. Hope you feel better, good to hear that Rory is okay now. What a coincidence, I heard some clicking sound several times and was thinking to post a question here.
Gracie, too bad I couldnt join you guys, dandenong is just 30min from our place. Hope Lewis is okay with the new tooth
What is Tinytalk?
I am a bit worried about LP too, unlike her to be offline this long. Hope everything is okay.
Have a good weekend everyone!
ETA Just uploaded a new ticker photo, his hair has started to grow ;)
-
It said you can clean the tooth with a wash cloth. I saw a pack yesterday with this pink rubber 'thing' with little nodules on it that you put over you finger to clean babies teeth (almost like those rubber thing you put over your finger when sewing) & some sort of paste....tooth paste I assume. haha geez im so discriptive :)
My nan called up yesterday and told me I need to take Rory to a paed because he is too skinny! :( She got me really upset. Why is it that when you have a baby everyone decides that your business is their business!
Ive had a break through though, rory is now on 240 mls instead of 180mls whoohoo (thanx to baby Gaviscon) :) AND he has apple puree at lunch!
Hayley - I think you are doing an amazing job working two days a week. You sound like you have got a good head on your shoulders (geez I sound like my nan). Let him have Maddy for a whole day while your at work and he will soon change his tune haha. DH wouldnt tell me to get a hobby because he knows I would and make him pay for it HAHA!Tight-arse
-
renee - do you think rory is too skinny? if not i wouldnt worry about what everyone else is saying!! how old is rory now i forget?? Asha is only on 180ml bottles with the occassional 210 so sounds like hes doing well to me, shes not having solids at all atm.. i know they are all different though just saying..
agnes - the worst thing is its happened to us before too though it didnt draw blood and i actually thought before doing it, i dnt want to use the clippers incase that happens but shed been scratching herself and me so badly i ended up doing it anyway bad judgement call!!!
wow cleaning the tooth lol spose it makes sence i didnt think of that either!!
anyway gotta go bbl
-
Hi everyone
managed to find some time to read up on all that has been happening - but i'm so exhausted so please forgive me if i miss out on anything.
md - sounds like life has been extra busy for you - well done on doing the study. Don't know how you find the time!! How is Miss E's toothypegs going?
Supa - you really ARE Supa!!!! It's great that your study fits in nicely with life :)
Agnes - i love the photo - just gorgeous. I'm also a fan of So You Think You Can Dance - but can't remember there names at the moment (except for Reece - as he plays the Elf on The Fairies)
Hayley - did your Dh mean that you should find something to do just for you?
Zoe goes to KIndy 3 days a week. She didn't end up going yesterday and today as she's had conjunctivitis.
Leanne - hope you're feeling better.
Renee - poor little Rory and poor you :( Hannah rolled off the bed at my mums place recently. We'd put her in the middle of my mums queen bed - i was doing some sewing and mum took her eyes off Hannah for 2 seconds to help me - and when we both looked for her she was at the edge - we couldn't get to her in time and she fell onto her back onto the tiled floor. I felt like the worst mum ever. Still feel like crying when i get the image in my head.
Gracie - yay on Lewis having a tooth - probably was what was making him unsettled.
Cally - i just use boiled water with Hannahs cereal and vegies. I'd like to use breast milk, but i don't have the time to express at the moment.
hi to all of you other lovely ladies :)
I took Hannah to the chiropractor yesterday. he found some tight spots, and said that the area near her diaphragm is a little inflamed. He showed me how to massage her belly and told me to make sure that i burp her really well, and don't let her overfeed. He used is 'clickergun thingy' and she seemed to really like it! he held her upside down too. I'm now giving her about an eighth of a teaspoon of Inner Health each day, and he told me to give her Gripe water when she has pain. (my cupboard now has Mariners friend, Brauers, Infants friend and this one)
he also told me to give her Organic Brown rice cereal. Hesaid that Farex has something in it that goes rancid, so is not good for her digestive system - especially as it is quite sensitive at the moment. The problem with the brown rice cereal is that the directions say i have to simmer it for 20 - 30 minutes stirring continuously!!!!! I only use a couple of teaspoons.!!
anyway, might hit the sack, as i'm sure hannah will wake soon.
have a great weekend.
-
Jazmum I don't know how I find the time either (LOL) the other project nearly killed me...study will be much easier - they say 10 hours a week per subject but I'm a bit of a smarty & I assimilate info pretty fast so i can probably get away with a couple of hours less than that but I think it will come down to evenings on the puter and an afternoon on the weekend when DH can watch E (who now expects to be personally entertained during every waking moment or whines incessantly LOL) and that will just have to do.
OMG what is the clickergun thingy - I've been out of the chiropracter loop for too long obviously!
I found the Raffertys at the shops today and during my very brief read of packets I noticed they are better at not putting milk and egg and soy in things. Will remember that in a month or so's time!
Gracie, how exciting with the BB meet up! What a pity our little thread can't all get together, now wouldn't that be a morning tea to remember!
Tinytalk is a baby sign language system, it comes with a DVD, a book and some charts, so you can pretty much do it all at home.
-
Hi Girls,
Well for a second night in a row I can not sleep. My brain just wont relax and stop thinking. I am in urgent need of some relaxation methods.
Renee- sending you some hugs:hug:
hello to everyone.
-
morning everyone
leanne - hope you got to sleep eventually :) it's so horrible when you're laying in bed thinking about how horrible the next day will be if you can't get to sleep.
i had one of those 'middle of the night' calls last night :( Dh is away, and his parents are on holidays at the beach. Dh's aunty phoned at 2:15am saying that Grandma is in the hospital and is dying. (she is 95, but wasn't ill as such) I had to phone dh to try to find his dad. Got to talk to his grandma on the phone. Through tears i was telling her that we love her - and get this - not knowing what to say, i come out with 'be careful'. wtf!!!!!! anyway, she calmly says, ''I'll probably go tonight or tomorrow'.
anyway, sorry for long post. Hannah was awake at 12:30 and then 5:30 - both times with pains in her belly. I soooo hope the next chiropractor visit helps.
md - i'm not sure what the clickergun thingy is actually called - and i can't really describe it - will google it when my brain is clear.

well this morning after a very restless night last night ive decided to give solids a go again.. she just dosnt seem to drink enough (mostly 180ml bottles, she rarely drinks a whole 210 when i make it for her and sometimes shes even leaving some in the 180)..
went off to the supermarket this morning coz i thought wed try starting with breaky since we didnt do well with dinner last time.. gosh its a bit overwhelming all the different cereals and things they claim are good for your baby isnt it!! i ended up going with Rafertys multigrain breakfast with banana, apricot and added iron its a rice cereal with a lil more flavour and i chose it based on the no added salt, sugar or preservatives :) seem to be going well she had a few teaspoons about ten mins ago and is playing on her playgym.. itsays 6mths plus on the front but on the back it says not for children under 4mths so i assume its ok.. was someone saying the 4mths plus stuff is no different to the 6mth stuff anyway? cant remember, anyway she seems happy so fingers crossed!!
oh jazmum hugs to you!!! its good that she sounds calm but i know that dosnt make it any easier.. hope the chiropractor helps H..
leanne - am having trouble sleeping atm too!!! hope you get some good sleep asap!
md - gl with the study, Ash is like that too with the wanting to be entertained, though i must admit shes getting better!
-
Oh Jaz - poor thing with DH's sick grandma. That brown rice cereal sounds like a pain. Can you do a couple of days worth at a time do you think?
Noni - I've got that cereal sitting in the cupboard ready to go.
Renee - poor little Rory, hope he's feeling better now. I'm sure that it won't be too long until another one of us is posting about an accident with our little ones.
Agnes - we might have to try putting K in the wash basket. She was sitting up by herself on the bed for a while this morning, at least that is nice and soft when she plops!
Hayley - can't remember where I heard about Tinytalk, just one of those things you see.
The last 3 nights I have had to get back up and resettle DD after her night feed. Not good. Last night I had to do it twice. I don't think she's interested in the feed anyway, she was on for 25 minutes and really didn't have much on the second side, I think she's just after some company! Might try leaving the radio on, do you think that might comfort her if she wakes and can hear some noise?

Hello Lovely ladies,
I hope your all having a supa dooper weekend. We went out to breakfast this morning then went for a swim at the beach. Have had a glass of wine and as soon as L is down for the night I will be having a few more. Sort of an early anniversary celebration, on Monday we have been together for 11 years and married for 2.
Cally you must be so tired you poor thing. I hope that K starts to sleep better for you soon.
Noni good luck trying solids again.
Jaz sending you loads of hugs, how awful about DH's grandma. I always seemed to say somethign silly to DH's mum when she was in hospital too so dont feel bad.
Leanne I hope you manage to get soem sleep soon, I hate when your tired but cant sleep.
Renne how is little Rory doing now? Are you feeling better too?
Agnes that is the most adorable picture.
Gracie woo hoo on the tooth, i had no idea you had to clean them so early either. I would imagine its not that important until they are eating food (I really have no idea lol).
Hello to everyone else. No doubt I will be back later and will ramble on after having a few to many wines lol.
-
Katie,it is our 2nd wedding anniversary on monday too!
Aglinra, our pets didn't need quarantine. The dog is here but with all mums dogs the cat has had to go to a cattery. (just so everyone knows, mum isn't one of those crazy old ladies with a million pets all called Charlie lol, she breeds/obedience shows border collies)
Renee, don't beat yourself up about you accident with rory, it could so easily happen to any of us - you were just unlucky. I went to story time at the library here on friday, a woman had a little bub that she was hanging by his arms and swinging side to side so he was almost horizontal. Poor little bub, he had a look of terror on his face.
JaZmum, sorry about your DH grandmother.
I think the cause of W's grumpiness was something I ate. He was crying in his sleep this morning and then had a huge fart and went back to sleep. I suspect it was all the greasy fish and chips I have been eating.

hey all :) solids went well it seems not tummy aches today yay for us hehe
i pretty much only came on to say that hahahahaha
oh leanne - dp got the job, thanks for asking.. we are not sure as of yet exactly how ongoing it is when they say ongoing but looking good for now.. its not far away from here and its day shift on good money so now we just have to hope he keeps it

K has learnt a new trick - pulling mummy's hair!! She loves it. I put it up in a ponytail yesterday, it just meant she pulled the little ones at the nape of my neck instead which hurt even more!!
DH told me this morning I have been really crabby lately. He told me nicely but looks like the tiredness is getting to me. He played cricket this afternoon and was doing the grocery shop on the way home and still isn't back yet.
Leanne - good luck sleeping tonight, hope it happens easily. I know it's hard, but try not to think about it. I got a spray from Brauer that has helped me the last few nights.
Katie and Arte - happy anniversary!!
Noni - glad that Asha enjoyed her cereal.

Wow I can't believe two our thread ladies got married on the very same day! :D
Jazmum, so sorry to hear about Grandma. Sending you a very big  and well done on keeping your head in a crisis. It's pretty amazing that she's so calm abou it. xxx
Noni, congrats to DP for his job, glad for you that it's the one that's closer!
Arte, I have friend emigrating to NZ soon, they were surprised at the lack of quarantine for puss and pooch when it's so full on for other livestock (they have goats and sheep that are pets but decided to leave them here as the Q process seemed prolonged and cruel). Wow 9 dogs, that must be noisy at times! You have got me wanting greasy fish and chips now.
Well the study is going excruciatingly slowly, we have been having probs with our PC and trying to get it sorted out is driving me BATTY. It's all delivered online too so it's a bit of pain when your technology is not working. DH is away again next week so there goes my productive study time out the window!
BTW I found that quote, I wonder how many of us can relate to this:
...babies who have been sleeping quite peacefully for weeks or even months tend to become wakeful as they enter a new stage of physical, neurological or emotional development. And when you combine several factors - teething, say, plus separation anxiety, beginning to crawl, and a greater awareness of the world around them, it is really no wonder that many babies around five or six months old suddenly become unsettled at night. p 92 100 ways to calm the crying by Pinky McKay.

md- are you watching big love right now? margie is so cute :)
-
OMG Gracie I'm so distracted by this Bl**dy computer and the study breathing down my neck I have FORGOTTEN it - lucky DH is recording it for me :). He's so sweet, I complain a lot but he's a real darling and very thoughtful (well some of the time)! :D Well I can time shift so I'm off to order my books from the National Library and then I'll be watching!
BTW do you really mean she's cute or do you have a chick crush?...LOL!
-
i think i have a chick crush. bad. LOL :)
good luck with the studying, has my mate procrastination been visiting you again???
btw, i went to a session at the local library the other day and gave me some great ideas for some books to use over the coming years. they have books for kids to deal with so many life issues eg. toilet training, family member dying, getting a new little bro or sis. it was a real eye opener. i thought to myself 'md would be proud of me being here!' ha
-
I can't blame you Gracie, she's gorgeous! :)
Yay for the library visit - yup there are books for everything! Guaranteed, you just have to find the right one, which is where your friendly library type person comes in handy ;). I just whipped out one of those books-you-need-at-just-the-right-moment today, it was one of *those* puberty books as alas DD1 is displaying signs of impending hormonal turbulence.
Cally OW at K's new trick - E does it sometimes when I'm doing raspberries on her tummy. haha serves me right. She has really strong hands and won't let go, she had me saying OWOWOWOWOW the time she grabbed one of my earrings and pulled! Hope you and Leanne both get a good sleep tonight.
-
OMG I finally fell asleep at around 9.30pm and then Olivia started crying at 2am so now my mind is racing and guess what I can not go back to sleep. This is becoming crazy.
