So much for my relaxing time!! She only did another half an hour and then later this afternoon I had to take her for a walk and she only slept for 15 minutes. So all up today she's had 1.25 hours - that's ridiculous.

Cally- hopefully she will have a good sleep tonight. My boys use to have what I call bubba naps all day but they would sleep all night.
I could have swore I posted yesterday :doh:not to matter.
Leanne, did you get Olivia's ears done today? If so how did she go with it?
Cally, how was your night last night hun? I hope she starts to get more regular with her sleep soon for you.
Renee, thats a great weight loss. I couldn't do the shakes though, I like my food too much LOL. And what a little goer Rory is getting up on his hands and knees like that.
Noni, that's fantastic news DP got a job. I really hope that this will ease some of the tensions between you. How did you go with the house-hunting?
Jaz, has H settled now since her bowen? I feel bad that she had a rought night seeing as how I suggested it to you. IKWYM about having to get them all out of the car.
I think I am at the tail end of my cold now. I feel better, but still have a chesty cough and snotty nose (so gross). When I was in town yesterday for preschool, half the town seems to have it too. Thanks for the comments on my new av. I was just doodling around the other night and thought I would do a new one - I felt naked without my tractor and decided to put the kids in instead.
Huge Hello to everyone else - hope you are having a great day.
sherie - we are applying for one house which is really nice, 4 bedrooms so atm we will be in the one bedroom and have one for storage and then later asha can move in there.. two lounge rooms, well one lounge and one family room but they are about the same size anyway.. nice big back yard etc etc.. we are hoping to get that one and stop looking and just move in lol but it dosnt always work that way i suppose lol...
leanne - thats what asha is like 20 minutes here and there during the day but she does sleep through the night..
cally - did katie end up sleeping for u?
renee - such cute pics.. wow and i though asha was nearly ready to crawl but looking at those pics i think she has a long way to go yet lol oh well..
hi everyone! well we are back from melb - had a good week but man it is exhasuting and it actually gets harder as N grows up...
got back yest, he was quite unsettled last night so hope today is ok. i have girls coming round for a few glasses of wine at 4 so i am hoping he will have at least 1 sleep before then. dh is home tomorrow - YAY! 8 nights has really dragged on.
solids are going well - he has been having 1 serve per day - about 1-2 tbsp max.. i am upping to 2 serves per day - fruit in morning and veges in afternoon. how does that sound? i also got some yoghurt and baby custard that i thought i would try out soon... he is 6 months this week so i guess i can get a bit more adventurous. he had pear most of the time in melb and loved it. i stewed and pureed peach for him this morning and he wolfed that down too!
i have decided i need to get more hardcore w sleeps during day - was around heaps of bubs in melb and he is the only one with no sleep pattern during day. how do you all get bubs to sleep in day? he just wont do it. i was ok w this when he was a gem at night but now that is changeable too and so i think we may have a prob on our hands! i have to get himw eighed soon so i will ask the nurse but you know my views on that LOL! he has been having around 2 feeds in the night for ages now - enough!
no teeth here yet - but they have been coming up and going down. and no sign of crawling. he is v close to sitting though.
what toys do you all have? ia m thinking it may be time for one of those fisher price activity centres or something.
had some good convos re work and it is now quite certain that i will go back in april. i now need to decide global or local job and 3,4 or 5 days. so i better get care sorted asap LOL!
sorry no personals - i have read whats been happening but too much to catch up on so i will start again.
hope you are all having a great weekend.
hey there
dp let me sleep in this morning bless him!! yesterday and this morning asha woke up to be fed at 8am and i asked him to please feed her and he did with no fuss at all!!!
this morning he got up with her and didnt wake me till 11am and thats because she hadnt had her breaky yet and he didnt know how to make it or give it to her haha.. was lovely to sleep in i feel much better!!
meeting up with someone from mums group today to go to the gym so that will be nice :)
welcome back pregpan.. Asha is having two meals a day now, rafertys multigrain breakfast with apricot and banana and vegies in the avo (which we have only just started) so far shes had pumpkin and avacado both of which she loves..
Ashas favourite toy atm is those link things u know the circles that all link together lol the fisher price ones she loves grabbing them and chewing and shaking them lol she has so many expensive toys but they are the fave atm lol...
hi everyone else, better go Ashas winging.. think she might be stinky lol
We just babyproofed the family room - moved the couch from the middle of the room to in front of the wall so the power points are covered. Now we need to buy a new TV to hang on the wall instead of our existing one! But we have heaps more open space and it will be heaps better for K playing.
She seems to have forgotten how to have a good sleep during the day - not impressed. Yesterday we resorted to a drive twice to get her to sleep! Last night we had two wake ups, but the two nights before were only 1. And yesterday I went back to bed and had a 2 hour nap. Bliss!
Noni - hope you get that house, sounds good.
Pregpan - glad you had a nice time away. Can't really give you any tips for daytime sleeps, we just watch for tired signs and put her down. Does he need the sleeps, is he tired and grumpy by the evening? Maybe he just doesn't need it and is busy taking everything in all day. I know it's hard though when you're getting up twice a night, it's great to have that 'downtime' while they are asleep during the day.
hi everyone
very quick post here to let you know that i survived the disco party!!!!! the kids all had a blast.
sherie - i think the Bowen might actually have helped Hannah in terms of her digestive system - especially giving her the tissue salts as well. Sleep issues might just be behavioural though
will be back later to read all posts and see what you've all been up to :)
Hi ladies, i've been MIA for a few days so I've quickly glanced over the posts and this will be a quick post as I've got work tomorrow.
Jazmum - How is Hannah going - I read your earlier post about her being ill but missed whether she is better now?
Noni - How exciting on the possible move, congrats. Glad to hear about DP's job.
Sherie - Glad that you are getting better, nice av btw.
Leanne - Did you get Olivia's ears done?
Arte - Seems like you cant escape the high interest rates and petrol prices anywhere!! its crazy.
Cally - Good on you with the baby proofing, its something that we need to get into one of these weekends.
Pregpan - Welcome back, glad you had a good time in Melb.
Renee - We just went to the movies by ourselves...haha. I'll have to go check out your new pics of Rory.
Katie - What do you do Logans hand/feet prints with? I tried it with finger paints and it was a disaster!!
Quick question regarding solids - I've had Maddie on a few teaspoons of rice cereal for tea time for a week and a half now and have been thinking of trying her with her first serve of veges this week. How does pumpkin sound or is potato a better starter? I still dont understand about how many bottle feeds to give when they start having a full solids meal. I dont want to overfeed her. Can anyone offer some info or direct me to a handy website?? I am so confused lol.
Might be MIA again for the next couple of days with work & study, but I will try get on as much as possible.
Still wondering where LP has got to!? Bit worrying.
Hi there again
Hayley - hannah is getting better, but still has conjunctivitis which is just horrible. with regards to vegies, pumpkin or carrot are good ones to start with. I usually don't start with potato as i've read it can be a little difficult to digest at first. Hannah loves her pumpkin and carrot. I'm not sure what to do with regards to her bottle. I usually give Hannah her solids and then give her a breastfeed, and she just stops when she's had enough. (i'll know when she's had too much 'cause she just throws it up !!)
noni - that's fab news about the house, and about dp getting a new job - and one that might make him happy too. seems like it's helping already with him letting you have a sleep in. my dh got up yesterday and today and made the girls brekky so i could have a bit of a lie in too. ( i have to say that him doing little things like that for me is kind of like foreplay:lol: ) hope that wasn't too much info lol.
pregpan - hannah has only just started to self settle again. I pop her into her cot (it's usually about 2 hours after she's fed) and i just bought her a little cloth book - a Taggies one. she rubs it over her face - and then falls asleep. Some days i'll need to go in a give her a rock - but she's usually tired herself out and it only takes a few minutes.
Hannah has a big week this week - Bowen on Wednesay, Needles at the doc on Thurs morning and chiropractor in the afternoon.
best head off to bed (oops - haven't fed the dog - poor little chook)
hey everyone
created another thread about these things but was wondering how much ur bubbies are eating? sometimes i worry Asha isnt getting enough.. shes having 4X210 bottles occassionally she will have another bottle as well depending on when she got up in the morning but its only generally about 100mls that she drinks from that one.. shes having 2 meals, one rafertys cereal, two tablespoons (before the water is added) as well as veges in the avo, one cube from the ice cube tray sometimes with plain rice cereal mixed in coz they tend to go watery when i defrost them.. does this sound like enough to you? also do u think it would be ok do give her like a piece of cooked pear or apple or is she too young for that and needs it to be pureed???
jazmum - lol idk about foreplay but i deffinately am happier and nicer to dp when he does things like that for me lol.. glad Hannais getting better :)
Haley - i think pumkin is a good starter, not sure about potato, heard pumpkin and potato is nice together havnt tried that either lol.. asha this time has tried avacado and pumpkin.. last time we did try sweet potato which she didnt really like unless i added blended corn in it lol but sweet potato is supposed to be a good 1st food too..
cally - gosh babyproofing its a scary thought.. this loungeroom we have set up is not babyproof at all!! hopefully we will move soon and take into consideration when we set up our place babyproofing etc..
Noni I don't really have a clue about the solids as I have just started, but to me that sounds like enough. I think milk is still the most important thing until they are 12 months (someone correct me if I m wrong) so perhaps offer more milk if she still seems hungry? I wouldnt be giving her finger food just yet, she may choke. Perhaps buy a mesh feeder and give it to her that way, thats what we are getting for Logan as he loves to suck on apple. Sorry I am not much help am I lol.
Jaz good to hear your party went well and that Miss H is getting better.
Hayley we have started Logan on Pumpkin and sweet potato, he loves both. Do you have a good CHN? Mine gave me a little booklet on solids.
Cally well done on babyproofing, we have to do that soon too. I hope Katie can get into a regular sleep pattern for you soon, you must be so exhausted.
Pregpan glad you had a good time in Melbourne and yay for your DH getting home. Wine with the girls sounds sooo nice.
Sherie good to hear your getting better too.
Hi to everyone else, I had better go and have a shower while L is asleep.
My baby is six months old today! Can't believe it! He was so tiny and helpless. This morning he was squealling as he chased the cat across the room, I am constantly in awe of how fast he is growing.
Pregpan, hope you sort out the sleeping. I got W to have day naps and our night times went to custard.
Renee, Rory is a clever boy up on his hands and knees!
Noni, Sounds like Asha is eating heaps to me. I don't know how much milk W has but he is only eating about a teaspoon of solids once a day, then he clamps his mouth shut and it is all over lol. The mesh bags are great if you want to give here a bit of raw fruit/vege to suck on without a choking risk. Apple is a favourite here too. Congrats on the job and possible house.
Sherie, hope your cold is ending. Your avatar looks great!
JaZmum, hope that H is getting better. Doesn't sound very nice for her.
Leemar, glad your dh is back. Hope Miss O's ear peicing goes well.
Happy 6 months W!!!!!!!!
morning all!!!
so deflating DH's flight was cancelled so he has been re routed and wont be home til tonight... i know not sucha big deal but i was all geared up for him to arrive NOW and now i have a full day to wait. so i better plan some things for Noah and I to do or I will go MAD! It has been a LONG 9 days!
the good news is that he had a great sleep last night and I have him in the cot sleeping now... i am pleased with myself LOL!
Noni - it sounds like she is eating fine to me, i figure they will let us know when they are hungry or full. that said i think i have the other prob - Noah is a guzzler! he has 2 solids 'meals' a day - 2-3 ice cubes of fruit or vege (rarely rice cereal mixed in too) and then a lot of bfeeds. i just moved him to 2 solids feeds, so i think i will go to 3 ina week or 2 when he is used to 2. if she seems satisfied dont worry as long as the usual wet nappies, dirty nappies and weight gain IMO.
Cant rememebr who was asking about what foods to do??? I have just started Noah on a few diff things - pureed stewed peaches the last few mornings whcih he loves! he is a fan of sweet pot, pumpkin, avocado, carrots, parsnip, pears, apple and cinnamon and now peaches. i try things alone for a day to make sure no issues (unlikely as we dont have any allergies in family) and then mix away to make flavours he likes. i think i will start yoghurt and maybe custard soon... i bought some greek yog the other day to mix with fruit for him (is it the right age to start this anyone???) i am starting to make things a bit more lumpy, still puree but i dont water them down at all and there are a dew soft pieces in there now and again (not always intentional LOL)
Renee - i think you were asking about activities for Rory?? i feel your pain i struggle with things to do too. [art of it is readjusting myself as i am always wanting to be on the go. as you know i do gymabroo and have also signed up for a 1/2 hr music class to start this week - both are a little $$ though. I also walk most days - and meet up with 2 diff friends to do this - each once a week.. usually witha coffee at the end.. is this something you can do? Noah seems to enjoy sitting and watching the trees etc, sometimes sleeps and then at the end we get takeaway coffees usually, put out a mat and the babies have a nice roll around outside. i know it has been hot in perth though, so maybe a shady walk? i also bought a couple of music cds and we lie on the bed in the afternoon sometimes and sing and dabce together - he loves this!!! book reading sessions at the library also free??? have not dont this yet. i also have a couple of mums and bubs over once a week for afternoon tea - just casual - which is fun. i find that having a few things that are constantly booked in to the diary and i just cancel if i cant do works best for me.... i think you sound like me and you need the structure and activity... so i hope these ideas work for you??
Sherie - hope you are feeling better (and Gracie are u also unwell)
Jaz - so glad the party went well!
hello to everyone else!
Ok I'll try to make this a quick one (haha) because I've got an assignment breathing down my neck and DH is going away (story of my life) so my baby-free time's about to be axed (again :()
Pregpan, I sooooo know how you feel! It's like all the missing him and not being able to wait until he gets home all catches up in one big hit, isn't it . I can't stand it! Sounds like you've got a lovely lifestyle with Noah, I'm still dangling in mid-air between all my deadlines! Too many days where I think, I could go out and do xyz, but if I stay at home and E has a sleep them I might get 1-2 hrs of work done (!) BTW I can't remember if you said what care arrangement you've settled on, only that you're happier with the centre now.:
i know not sucha big deal but i was all geared up for him to arrive NOW
Noni, I'm really not so sure with the quantities myself, only to say that the key message is their main source of food until 12 mths is milk, so if you're concerned maybe try slipping in a little top up feed here or there?
Hayley I agree with Jazmum, try pumpkin, carrot or even sweet potato before potato some bubs can have a reaction...that's just going on the general principle of introducing least-allergy-prone foods first and saving the others until later.
Re the solids, I'm also going out on a limb to say Meshbag smeshbag - I've never heard of them before and when we introduced solids for DD one we pretty much started giving her fingerfoods from about 7 mths on. Mostly soft things she could suck on/gnaw on (chop bone with a bit of meat, fingers of ripe pear, cooked veggie, rusks, etc) You just have to make sure they are properly upright and you watch them. She pretty much took to them straight away and I never knew what the finger food fuss was. (but I made sure I knew what to do in a choking situation if that should ever happen because surprisingly many parents don't know).
Arte, happy 6 mths W! And I cannot believe he is chasing the cat around! Far out!
Cally, well done with the baby proofing, E's not mobile yet, so I have plenty of time to plan whether I need to shop for new high-end electronics or not LOL! Only teasing, I actually think having the telly on the wall is a great idea. We have one of those indonesian telly-cabinets with lockable doors which is great except it's always a pain working out where to put it as it's a huge piece of furniture.
OK, that's it study break over, or I'll never ever get away from this desk. Sorry to everyone I've missed!
Hey everyone!
the worst of the cold is over now thankfully, feeling much better.
With the solids, yoghurt isn't recommended until at least 8mths old due to the allergy thing, same applies for cheese and custard as well. There's really no need to rush the amount of solid meals that they have, they will all get there in the end. I got a great phamplet about solids from my MCHN at our last visit and its been produced by the ABA - very interesting stuff. A lot of the guidelines have changed in recent years. And Milk (either BM or FF) is their MAIN source of nourishment until 12mths. So there will be a trade off - the more solids you give the less milk they will have.
Hi Girls,
Well Olivia has her ears pierced and she went very well. They look great too. She only cried for a minute but was stopped as soon as we got out of the shop. I am so excited. Oh did I mention they look great.. She also had her 6mth needles today and weighs a very healthy 9.7 kg. Boys are good apart from yesterday when Xavier put baby powder all over his bed and himself. then Jordy did the same thing this morning. Boy I was not happy at all. I am now giggling to myself cause although it didnt look funny at the time it does now.
Pregpan- Welcome back.
Art- Happy 6mths to W
Sherie-Glad you are feeling better
Noni- Lucky girl on getting a sleep in. How does your DP like his new job?
Marydean- How long is DH away for this time? I hope not too long for you.
Solids- Olivia has a weetbix mixed with formula for breaky and a custard for lunch and veges for tea ( vegies are potatoe, pumpkin, carrott, brocolli, cawliflower and chokoee all mashed up with butter and a little bit of milk.) She loves them. Also I sometimes give her now a chop bone to chew on. Helps with the teeth. She also has rusks during the day and water.
I did the same when the boys were her age. Although it all seems a lot easier this time. I think with the boys I was very scared to give and start new things.
