Gracie, glad swimming went better. Maybe if L is grumpy for bathtime you could just have a shower with him at the pool so it is one less thing to do before bed? Sorry about your DHs back. I don't have much sympathy when DH is sick but I feel justified because when I had morning sickness and was in the middle of throwing up, he gave me a lecture about how unhygienic it is to throw up in the kitchen sink and that I should go to the toilet lol
MD, too late on the egg front here. I haven't been too worried about the high allergy foods as there is no food allergies at all in either of our families and he has never had eczema or anything. He has already had quiche and baking made with egg. I wasn't going to give him peanut yet but DH handed him something satay and it was in his mouth before I could grab it. Yay for catching clever miss E commando crawling.
Cally, with the highchair make sure the tray can push in close to her body. Ours has a big gap and today he wriggled down and got his feet to poke up beside his face. And he is forever dropping food down there. William suggests you get one with a foldable foot tray so K can stand there and flap it up and down too.
Sherie, very cute pics! He looks so much older wearing the hat. I want one of those ride-on things but I can't find them anywhere (except the brand name Little Tikes or FP for over $100). I put him on one at playgroup and pushed him and he loved it, little speed freak.
Cas, I don't usually bother with the doc for just a temp but if she is dozy and not feeding properly then it is probably wise to go to the doc or at least call a health line and see what they say?
Raining here and nothing to watch on T.V, I have figured out why country people have big families lol
-
Arte - Lol had to laugh at the throwing up in the kitchen sink. I did it a few times too, as I wouldnt have made it to the toilet. At least you can wash it away! Will is a cheeky boy with his farting and laughing....you are right he is a real boy lol.
Sherie - I cant get over that pic of Alister standing! He is so clever.
Gracie - Hope your DP's back is getting better. Mine is the same when he is unwell or in pain. They have nothing to complain about, try giving birth!
MD - Has there been any more commando crawling?
Charlismumma - I have a very laid back baby as well. They will get there in their own time.
Cally - Yep Maddie is still on daylight savings time. Hopefully it wont be much longer and they will be back on track.
Clare - Oh no she sounds unwell. Did you go to the doc?
Agnes - How is Will feeling today? The virus sounds nasty, poor thing.
Renee - I've never had bleeding like that before. Has it stopped yet or at least eased up?
Noni - Buying new clothes always makes me feel a million dollars. When is Asha's christening?
Well Maddie did not sleep well at all yesterday arvo as I was hoping she would. We were going out for tea and I didnt want her to be grumpy. Boy was she a grumpy bum. I cant figure her out lately. She is very clingy, wants to be rocked to sleep which is rare for her and also last night she woke every hour. In the end I gave her panadol as I think maybe her teeth are giving her problems. She still isnt eating solids or drinking much milk either. I hope she is back to her normal self soon because I feel like I dont understand her atm.
-
Hayley, whenever Lindsay was teething, he would hardly eat anything for weeks until he either got a tooth, or his gums settled enough to stop feeling sore. My money is on her getting teeth. Alister is the same ATM with the waking - on Wednesday I was up every hour and I was knackered. I gave him panadol on Thurdsay night which didnt seem to work and I tried nurofen on Friday night, but not a lot of success with that either. His top gum is all red, so I think he'll get his top teeth next.
Arte, Mum got that for Paige for her 1st birthday. It is the most annoying thing ever LOL because the thing the ball sit on in the front of it pops up and down, making the balls jump like popcorn (its called a corn-popper bike) and it is really loud and annoying. It's by Fisher price and she got it at BigW. It wasn't all that exxie either from memory, less than $50 I *think* - they have a Little People one too. It is really sturdy though - the big kids race around on it and they haven't broken it. I had to laugh about Will farting, that really is a boy thing isn't it?
-
DH was away last night (went to the Brumbies game up in Canberra). So K decided to 'challenge' me. Woke at 4 and didn't go back to sleep until 5:30. Was tempting to feed her, but I didn't succumb!! (I almost did because I was so out of it when I first woke, my first thought was 'wow haven't you slept for a long time'. Then I remembered I'd fed her at 12!!) Of course she still woke at 6:30 so I'm feeling pretty stuffed. Will wait and have an afternoon nap when DH gets home so I can get a decent one in, rather than go back to bed now. Still feeling good about the whole resettling thing though, this is the second time I've had to resettle since we left sleep school.
Arte - sorry your first go at resettling Will didn't go very well. For info, the responsive settling we did at sleep school was based on a book called 'Sleep Right, Sleep Tight' by Cummings, Houghton and Williams. It may be available at your local library!! lol at Will's suggestion for the high chair!!
MD - Does commando crawling count if it's going backwards? That's all K does. Now she knows how to roll, she is everywhere! Also, keep meaning to tell you, we watched Gill Rapley's DVD at QE2.
Hayley - It could be a combination of teeth and separation anxiety which is making her upset at the moment. K was pretty clingy last week with DH and I while there were lots of people around. She's better this week now she is back in her own place.
Gracie - when we went swimming I showered K there and fed her before we left. Then when we got home it was straight into bed. She fell asleep pretty easily, probably because she was so relaxed from the car ride home. Will do the same tomorrow when we go.
Sherie - ooohhh at the dead mice. I'm freaked out enough by the blue tongue under our deck, I have to take a big leap off every time in case he is peeking out!
Clare - how is your little one feeling today? Has the temp gone down yet?
Pregpan - hope you're enjoying Melbourne.
Well better go and have a shower then do some more cooking for K. She's really getting into it, last night she had zucchini and potato which she loved!! It did go all through her hair, but maybe she was just trying to save some for later!!
-
Hi Ladies!
Thanks for all the advice and support! Leila is still pretty unwell. I gave her panadol at around 2pm she then went for a sleep and when she woke ate a little bit of cereal. so that perked her up a bit. we were up every hour last night (but we werent the only ones going by the thread this morning!!). I had to give her a bit more panadol this morning as her temp had been 38.5 for 3 hours solid, it has now gone down to just over 37 so she is feeling a little better. i've decided that if she doesnt improve by tomorrow morning I'll take her to the drs. her nose is runny now though so i guess it's just a nasty cold, so not much to do but grin and bear it!
Sherie: those pics are great! what a little man!! love the backpack!
Arte: aah the joys of resettling! it does get better, promise!
Gracie: I totally commiserate with you!! DH had the nerve to tell me he was 'exhausted' this morning from playing soccer last night...meanwhile I was up all night with a sick baby...
MD: so cool on the crawling!
BBL need to have a shower while DH is entertaining Leila and dog!
-
K woke from her nap this morning after only 45 mins. I left her in there, she was chatting to herself, did a couple of little whinges. 15 min later fell asleep. Still waiting for her to wake again, she's been down almost 2 hours from her second little sleep!! 4.5 hours since her last feed, she's normally 3 hours during the day. Gave me the chance to catch up on TV though.
Cassius - glad Leila is feeling a bit better. Hope her temp doesn't go up again.
-
Hope you all had a decent nights sleep with all these sick, teething bubbies!
Cally - Thats excellent that she is getting the hang of self settling. Maddie talks herself to sleep too. She takes the dummy out of her mouth, holds it up in the air and talks to it, its kinda cute. We have the sleep right book, its excellent. I've followed their ideas right from the start and once you get them down pat bed time is so much easier.
Clare - Hopefully the cold will pass quickly. :(
Sherie - I'm sure it must be teeth as well. Hope they come through soon! I didnt realise for some reason that it can take weeks for them to pop through, I had it in my mind that it took a few days whoops lol. She was good last night though, no waking up.
-
afternoon everyone
woken up this morning to go to soccer to get there and have it called off grrr not cool waking up at 20 to seven for nothing!!!
haley - Ashas not getting christened we are going to a friends bubs christening :) if i dont stop eating junk though i wont fit my new clothes lol
md - yeah dp enjoyed the eggless pancakes but asha wouldnt have a bar of it lol she just looked at me like thats not vegemite lol shes so into vegemite on toast and sandwhiches now that shes not interested lol.. plan on cooking her some corn fritters or something in the next few days though hoping she dosnt think the only finger food includes vegemite haha ohh she does have awroot biccies every now and then too..
ahhh ashas up n trying to steal chips out of my hand bbl lol
-
Hayley, oh yes, the teeth can pop thru in a few days (DD 1 - never any fuss) or they can take weeks (DD2 - weeks of sleepless nights)! Glad you had a good night.
To all the other sleepless mummies - this too will pass! E had a really good night last night - I swapped to wrapping her in a flannelette cot sheet and added a woollen blanket. I just wasn't satisfied that the cotton blankets were doing their job. DH is apparently clueless and hasn't noticed that her bed doesn't feel warm when he's been getting her up at night . Sure enough she settled twice without a feed and fed twice and settled quickly afterwards. So, maybe, once the teething passed she just hasn't been warm enough. :( I feel guilty/embarrassed/cross at DH that it's taken so long for the penny to drop and also mad at myself for believing the 'experts' about using cotton blankets .
Sherie, so glad you found the stinky mousies. Reminds me of the time there was this awful smell at work, seriously like a dead animal, but it was near one lady's workstation who had been using these strange foreign linaments on her sore neck, everyone was too embarrassed to say anything in case it was the stuff she was using! LOL Lucky i was working at the other end of the office.
Re E crawling - well I think it might have been a once-off. She was actually quite close to the thing she wanted, and so first stretched one telescopic arm then the other then the other and managed to move forwards. I put her in front of something today, it was just hilarious. First, she rocked on all fours, then she stretched for it. Then she crabwalked sideways. Then she rolled over and rolled back. Then rocked some more and by the time all this was finished she was much further away and she gave up LOL!
-
Marydean, I've increased the layers on Alisters bed too - we have flannie sheets, a cotton waffle weave blanket doubled over and a blanket my Nan made for him with polar fleece and lined with flannlette, plus he wears a polar fleece sleeping bag. He slept quite good last night too and yeah, I think half of the wake ups are from him being cold.
And I found another dead mouse this morning too. I got up and I could just catch a slight wiff of it so I had to go hunting again and found it just behind the pantry cupboard - not pretty.
Hayley, I would rather 1-2 days of sheer hell from getting teeth than weeks on end of mild/moderate unsettled-ness that's for sure. I don't remember the other kids being this grizzly for so long with them, but then they didn't get any teeth till they were a fair bit older.
Noni, LOL at you getting up early for nothing. Was it cancelled due to rain?
Cally your'e doing really well with the settling. I sometimes pop Alisters dummy back in if he wakes after a short time (like now - I just heard a bit of a sooky noise ;) ) and I get longer out of him. Does him good to have a longer sleep too.
Cassius, I hope Leila starts to feel better soon, poor little mite. It is hard on them when they get colds at this age. The backpack is by Tiger Tribe - the girls ones they had were sooo cute. I was very tempted to buy one for my niece LOL.
-
hi everyone! sorry been slack on posting. nothing much happening this way anyway. in case anyone's interested, here's the link to the wedding video. not sure if it'll work. Las Vegas : Flamingo - Weddings. remember, we were thinking "fun" rather than romance.
still have to get my act together to schedule max's needles. :) is there any repercussions to getting it late?
hayley, am glad that i didn't read about your false alarm until today when i got the result 10 mins or so later (as i read through the posts). am glad you got the test result you wanted.
hugs to sick bubs. hurrah for crawling and rolling and sitting etc. max has perfected the act of sitting from crawling position. this has stopped her from crawling. even as she attempts to reach for something, she somehow ends up sitting instead of crawling. and this poses another headache for me as i worry about her toppling over (from sitting) and hitting her head (which she's done a few times already). i've got a quilt on top of the carpet but i don't think it's enough still. have just placed another rug under the quilt. hope this softens the blow much more.
ok. gotta have dinner now.
hope to be back later but probably not. grey's anatomy is the priority. :)
-
Fianne, love the video, I think it was a gorgeous wedding, the look on your faces says it all. We were cracking right up when the celebrant was trying to get the rings! Just lovely and it made my night watching it, thanks for sharing. :) I KWYM about the toppling over, E is nearly able to sit from a crawling position too. We I sit her up I put two pillows in a v-shape behind her, won't have that once she's sitting herself! I think they get pretty good at it pretty quickly tho, I bet in a few weeks they won't be falling over all the time!
Sherie, glad I'm not alone with the blankets. There's just no warmth in the cotton ones. I had to sneak into DD1s room in the dark and scratch around for her old baby blanket because I don't have a woollen one for E. We had a nice onkaparinga one which has mysteriously gone missing, so I'm in the market for another, so DD1 can have her baby blanket back (it's a silk & angora one my friend crocheted for her and she's very fond of it, it feels so soft and silky).
-
Fianne I watched your video, thats so cool. Your DH looked awesome.
Will jump on tomorrow for more personals. Have had a big weekend and am pooped.
-
hey there for bubs toppling i deffinately reccoment the foam mats u can get that put together like a huge jugsaw puzzle.. our floor is lino and asha fell sideways hitting her head first before anything else on the mat and she was fine didnt even winge :)
md - did H cope with her blanky being taken away? it sounds so nice lol i want one!!! i use like a fleecie kinda thin blanket with flanellette fitted and cover sheet and a light donna on ashas bed lol id never heard anything about cotton blankets??
fianne - great video looks like u had heaps of fun :) thanks for sharing!!
-
No, H isn't attached to her blanket like that, it's just the right size for snuggling under on the couch and therefore gets dragged around the house, wrapped around the dog, hung off the side of the bed, etc. In fact her aunty gave her a nasty orange fleecy blanket when we were over there (thanks sis) so the other one's fallen out of favor LOL. She went into E's room this morning and ripped it out of her cot when she saw it there - nothing like sisterly love! The cotton blanket thing, - we have this thermometer thing the MACH nurses gave us and it has temperature ranges with how many blankets you need because apparently in CBR ppl overheat their babies - especially in houses with central heating turned up. Plus all the recent books I read say use cotton blankets (I think cos they're not so heavy and they 'breathe') and that just happened to be what i found at the markets when I was buying them.
-
eek justforced down some oats with crushed up iron tablets.. its not that bad its just the colour and a bit of an after taste that puts me off.. been really dizzy the last few days and its getting worse.. am also late for AF so am hoping like crazy its iron.. the roof of my mouth os covered in ulcers so i cant swallow the tablets hence they are crushed into my cereal..
having a horrible morning.. asha is currently infront of the tv watching nick jr i just cant deal with her atm i am sooo exhausted! i'm such a bad mum i cant keep my temper when she is crying coz she wants to get out of bed or is kicking me :( usually she will go back to sleep but not recently and shes been waking more so that makes it hard too.. its a really rainy gloomy day too which makes it worse i cant go back to bed!!!
md - lol i like some of the fleecy blankets!! lol sisterly love.. i worry about overheating asha but we dont have heating or anything i am probably just being paranoid..
anyway i am off to have a piece of toast to kill the iron tablet after taste and a v to perk me up so i can look into ringing some real estates, not that i want to go anywhere today though its pi$$ing down!!

Renee- I hope you are ok
Sherie- Wow we had 2 mice in the house and Luckly I got them both. I use traps. DH said they are coming in cause its cold.

Will catch up with everyone asap.
Have a great day
-
Noni, don't feel like you're a bad mum, we all have moments like that when we're stretched thin. This morning, after keeping me up a large part of the night (!) little E who was beside herself with tiredness (despite having slept about 8 hours more than me), was having a tantrum while I was trying to feed her. Why?...get this...just goes to show you can be cranky about anything....because her foot was touching the side of the arm chair (WTF!) - full on screaming and thrashing with a mouth full of boob. I had a few uncharitable thoughts right then. Now she's asleep so I'll miss the morning tea I've been hanging out all week for! So I KWYM - just don't beat yourself up about it, but if there's something you can do for your own mental health then do it - take a walk, ring a friend, whatever. xxx I know it's a really hard time for you right now with wanting a house, just remember it will happen!
ETA - well obviously it wasn't just cos E was too cold - she was up just as many times last night as before...
-
Aaawww dont you just feel really bad when your baby is sick
 Hugs to all sick and teething babies, hope everyone is better soon.
William still hasnt been sleeping well, keep tossing and turning around. And scratching himself, I think the rash is quite itchy.
He learns a new trick, moving toys from one hand to another.
The other day in the car he also tried to catch the ray of sunlight LOL. So funny, and sometimes he tried to catch his shadow
-
Fianne, that was a really lovely wedding. I didnt get to see the whole video cause the connection was quite slow but it's just beautiful. I can see Max in the video, so cute. Is it your sister who was holding her?
MD, thanks for the info. First I thought it was reflux but apparently virus infections. Can I ask when do you plan to start on dairy? I bought some yoghurt the other day but now a bit hesitant to give it to him cause of the eczema thing. I am holding off on eggs and nuts too.
Noni, how are things with cloth nappies. ETA how are you feeling today, hope things are much better now
Arte, I suspected solid but we didnt give him anything different just the boring stuffs like pumpkin. I think he probably got it from a kid at childcare.
Poor Will with the fall, but he is so clever standing up already
Pregpan, how is your first day at work? For me, its just feel surreal almost going back to work. Seems not long ago I was really looking forward to mat leave. Hope you had fun in Melbourne
Leanne, glad to hear the kids are well.
Hayley, I love buying presents for people. How is Maddie today, hope it is from teething
Renee, hope you are feeling better hun
Clare, how is Leila today? Not fun when they are sick, hope she feels better soon
Gracie, I live near knox city. Ikwym with drama queens, it feels like taking care of two babies doesnt it.
Sherie, Alister is so gorgeous, I love the one where he is smiling while standing. You must be so proud of your little guy, he looks like a big boy already. I think W is still far from standing, he hasnt even crawled yet just going backwards iykwim
Cally, yay on the self settle. How long do you tend to wait when she wakes up after one sleep cycle?
Hi to everyone else
ETA MD posting at the same time. Hope you can get some rest today or catch up with some naps. Sometimes i also wonder what on earth keeps him distracted when feeding when i keep the room dark and quiet already. Sorry to hear about the morning tea
-
omg! i'm so dumb!!!
just started to watch the wedding video of sally and rusell LOL
....now going back to watch the video of fianne......lmao
* fianne- your wedding was fantastic! what a crack up. i loved it. the rev was great too, he was like samuel l jackson or something lmao. it looked like so much fun!

agnes- i can't believe you live near knox! that's so close...i might message you next time i'm heading over to knox city and we can catch up for coffee? i'm just near olinda.
sherie- am i dreaming or is the tractor back?
hayley- karma tried to bite me on the bum this weekend....after giggling over you thinking you were pg i suddenly started freaking out that i was pg. sore boobs..put on a bit of weight....ate a whole block of cadburys (i don't usually like sweet food).....anyways..did a test last night and it was neg...pheeewww!
-
hi everyone
just thought i'd pop in quickly - there are so many posts i haven't read, so i'll try and jump on later tonight when the girls are in bed (dh is in melbourne again)
Have had some really bad nights lately. I don't know what it is. I'm starting my diet (again!!!!!) today, hoping that it will help with Hannah's belly troubles.
A question for all mummies who use Formula - is there one that i could give Hannah that's for sensitive tummies? I'm thinking of introducing the bottle for her night time feed - just in case I need to leave her with a babysitter ever. I introduced formula to the older girls at about 9 months - but i've totally forgotten what to do:doh:
anyway - hope to catchup later tonight.
Gracie - are you going to be watching top model tomorrow night?
-
hi jaz, of course i'm going to be watching top model tomorrow night!
i've already set the iq up to tape the whole series! lmao
can't wait....do you watch the lifestyle channel much? lately i've been getting into location, location with phil and kirsty
-
Gracie LOL at sally and harry (oops russell) :) Would definitely love to catch up for coffee sometime. Too bad I missed the bb vic gathering that you organised last time, are you guys going to meet up again?
Jazmum, poor Hannah. Hope she is better and you can get some rest too. Sorry no experience on formula.
Fianne, we took W to his 4mo needles a bit late too, i think we were like three weeks late.
Sherie, your avatar looks cool :) yep, I can see the tractor
-
hi everyone!
well i have NO hope of answering all the personals - too much going on in here. But I did pick up that lots of bubs are not sleeping well and let me join that club. Poor N has had a couple of AWFUL nights, up every hour to 2 hrs... and now he had a cough the poor thing. I guess he saw about 30 dif fpeople this weekend so the poor guy must be overstimulated and freaked out! i can see his top tooth trying so hard to pop out so that would prob be adding to it too. he was v happy to get home today...he was giggling and looking at all his familar things, was lovely.
we had a great time in melb, lots of fam things and the friends catch up went well and of course we fitting in some shopping!
Now DH is away, he is already exjausted as he was up at 3.30am - up properly (plus up with N all night)...and I am back at work (hence the rushed post) - so the scary week begins LOL! I feel good about being at work though.
Thanks for all the recipe ideas - i will try them out...can you freeze pikelets? they seem like a good finger food to me (do i make them with just yolks??)
back when i have some time, better do the rest of my work and then get things ready for tonight's bed routine etc.
Jaz and Gracie - woo hoo to top mod tonight, i cant watch though i have to iq it and save for when DH gets back. hope his mates dont find out!!!
-
Agnes - if she wakes after one sleep cycle and should be having more (ie wakes up grumpy or is first/second nap of the day) then I give her 20 minutes to get back to sleep. It may involve me going back in and patting her to settle her down if she gets a bit too cranky, but if she's happy I'll just leave her.
Swimming today. DH came and did the whole class with her. He had a ball.
Bad day sleeps today. Will see what happens tonight!!
MD - Sorry E had such a shocker. Shame it wasn't the blankets that were keeping her up.
Sherie - Glad the tractor is back!
-
Cally I'm hanging on to your every word about your settling techniques, not having much luck here at all. I'm rapidly turning into a shambling wreck.
Pregpan, glad you had such a good weekend - yes you can freeze pikelets and yes you can use just yolks.
Jazmum, good luck with the diet, let us know if it helps H's tummy.
Gracie, Oh dear re your UTD scare - I bet it's a bit like when someone says they've had nits and everyone else starts scratching, we'll all be having scares now LOL!
-
MD, it is like the nit thing, I am a little bit concerned too. Actually I hope I am, otherwise I am just getting fat lol. I lost a couple of kilos but they seem to be back and attached to my tummy. Today I noticed that I had my arms resting on my belly like I was pregnant!
Pregpan, hope your first day back at work was good. It must be strange being back in a world where books have more than 10 words on a page lol
DH is away at a conference so I am down at mums for a couple of days.
I have been wondering if other babies let people cuddle them? W hardly ever sits on my lap or lets me have a cuddle, he always has to be on the go either playing with toys or walking around the house. Do you get to snuggle with your bubs? I just started thinking about it in the shower when he wouldn't let me hold him because he wanted to stand or sit and play with the shampoo bottle.
-
yes md, it is totally the nits thing! how funny.... luckily it was a bfn. i think maybe af is on her way and it's been so long since i've seen her that i'm really feeling it iykwim?
arte- i'm getting fat too! it's weird cos i was feeling really good, lost a couple of kgs, a few cms in my measurements, but in the last couple of weeks i've noticed my stomach is huge again. i think i'm just bloated but it's a bit depressing. On the cuddling thing, lewis loves a snuggle but he has to be in the mood for it iykwim? i think he gets sick of me kissing him too much though, just like his dad LOL
-
:excited: yes! The tractor is back LOL. I found it the other night and did a new av.
While on the subject of pg and the irrational female mind ;) A few weeks back my cycle went all wonky and my irrantional mind said '****, what if I'm pg?' but then rational mind kicked in and told me that was impossible because we'd hardly done it because I had that cold and with DH working etc. But it still gives you the heebee-jeebies.
With the cuddles, Alister could sit on my lap all day, but other people he isn't so keen on. He lets DH give him cuddles and wrestles etc, but he is at that age where he doesn't really want anyone else but me most of the time. Paige hated having cuddles and would never let me cuddle her to sleep, Lindsay loved it and was a very affectionate little boy and Erin could take it or leave it.
Jaz, the only formula I can think of that might help is Karicare HA AR - its a high allergenic, anti reflux formula (Alister has the AR one) and it is meant for babies that may be at risk of allergies. Alternatively you could try a goats milk formula.
Marydean, I find the polar fleece blankets really good for warmth. MIL lent me the onkaparinga cot blankets she had for her three, but I gave them back years ago when Paige went into a big bed and I don't know if she still has them now.
With the solids, Alister is really taking to them now. He has a tupperware snack cup full of cereal and fruit in the morning and then he eats veges off my plate at night. The veges at night aren't much, but it keeps him happy while we eat LOL. he is having more milk now too - I think all the activity is making him hungry. On the teething front, that seems to have settled now. I only got up to him twice last night instead of 50 million times ;)
-
Hi Girls! phew it's been ages since i posted (maybe 2 days but seems alot longer LOL!).
Leila looks to be getting a bit better. today she didnt have a fever, but is still off her food and is sleeping alot. i guess she needs to recuperate...
We had our bubbaroo joey swag arrive in the mail today (YAY!). I absolutely love those sleep suits. we use them all the time at night as then i know that she will keep warm and wont kick off her blankets. also, they have 'tog' ratings so you know how much to dress them in according to the temp. and she just looks too cute in them (like a bug in a rug! - or that could be mummy bias...)
LOL at the nit analogy! luckily AF is a constant thing in my world ATM. I was pretty bummed about 'her' return when leila turned 6 months as i was still BF and hoping she would hold off for longer....bummer.
Arte: Leila likes to check in with her cuddles. otherwise she sounds like W, rolling around the joint getting into toys. also she is far more interested in the water in the shower than me...tries to wriggle out of my grip. how do you shower with W. I was thinking of popping her down at my feet, but not sure if this was ok??
MD: hang in there babe! the shambling wreck is definitely part of my vocabulary! lol! i found the 'feed play sleep' printout that the MACH nurses gave me in Canberra really helpful. it is based on the stuff given by tweddle, but just simplified. i had it bluetacked to leila's door so before i walked in i checked in with it. did you get one? I think i got mine from narrabundah, or it could have been the phillip one...oh the mummy memory strikes again! i recently gave it to a mum in my group and she reckons it has helped...
Fianne: we took leila almost 6 weeks late to her 6 month vacc. there's no prob, just that the mmr one will also be set back a bit (but they just brought it forward to 12 months from 18months as they want to separate the vacc from the onset of autism symptoms), so maybe it's not too bad a thing!
Pregpan: sorry to hear about poor N. have just been through the sick thing; leila was up every hour for 3 nights due to being unwell, but last night slept until 4 am for a quick feed then back to bed until 7. so i guess they bounce back! (fingers-crossed for tonight tho!)
anyway best be off to wake DH: he fell asleep at 8 tonight (he had to look after leila today, and reckons that he is 'exhausted', phhht, one day a week and the man is collapsing!)
night night!

just a really quick one is anyone freaking about the plastic thingo found leaking into bottles on the news??? havnt had time to read through so sorry if its been mentioned already..
we went and bought 2 glass bottles today from iga (one of the only places that stock them apparantly) and i am on the hunt for more tmw eeeek lol i saw 3 of the same bottles on ebay and no joke the bidding has gotton so out of hand its up to almost 60 bucks i think thats awful because these same bottles are yes hard to get but they only cost me 3.15 each!!!
-
Noni, don't worry about it. None of the bottles I have are made using it. There was something I just saw on Facebook about it too.
Hi Clare, glad to hear that Leila is somewhat better now.
-
gosh its busy in here!
spent the day looking for bloody glass bottles with my friend..
its really good to have a friend who actually lives in sydney haha.. its awesome we get along really well and live just down the road from eachother and have babies one day apart lol cant get much better than that!!
sherie - apparantly after looking it up the ones i use are made with that particular plastic :( glad A is sleeping better now. he needs to have a word to Asha!!
clare - glad leila is getting better
arte - asha wont really let me cuddle her either shes very restless lol more interested at what advantage she might have for grabbing something shes not allowed to have when i'm holding her.. the only time she cuddles is when shes super tired and falling asleep..
jazmum - there is things like ar - anti reflux or ha- hypo allergenic but my gp said if u can go with a normal formula do coz the other can make them constipated or over sensitive.. in saying that idk if one is harsher on tummies than others gosh how helpful am i?
agnes - i couldnt afford the cloth nappy set up :( that and the new clothes i would have had to buy her to fit over the top of them.. ahhh well i am probably better off without extra things to do when i feel sooo tired!!
md - gotta love those irrational tantrums lol her leg was touching the chair.. sometimes i get so frustrated lol calm blue oceans!!

Re the bottles, I've just invested in Avent cups, etc, (because they attach to my breast pump) - apparently they are one of the brands involved (?). Bisphenol-A is the thingy. However, I'm not going to freak about it because a) we don't use them very often b) we don't heat them or have hot liquid in them and c) mine are all new and I'll be chucking them before they age.
Clare, I vaguely remember that sheet thingy, it was like a table. The daytime routine's fine, in fact at daytime it's like it's not even a problem, even in the early evening, but as midnight approaches (*insert wolf howling noise*) and it's on! I'm booked into a MACH sleep clinic (2 hours without your baby, wonder how useful that will be LOL). Re bringing the MMR forwards, I wondered about the onset of autism symptoms but then I also thought, don't they do the meningococcal at 12 mths as well (makes sense to do them together so ppl don't fall thru the cracks). I haven't looked it up, it was just something I was wondering.
Sherie - funny about the 'irrational female mind' - I had some wonky symptoms a few weeks back and started eyeing off the single remaining preggy test in my bathroom cupboard LOL - not a chance, though.
Arte, I'm getting fatter again too. :( However in my case I think it's because I just haven't been active enough (ie don't leave the house often enough) and my metabolism is slowing down. Re cuddlies, E is pretty cuddly, although in the daytime she's constantly looking around for something to grab LOL. She pays more attention to me when I've got dangly earrings on (potential target LOL).
Tried E on some chicken today, she's not taking to it at all, although I think the problem is the texture. I'll do another batch and puree it much finer and see how she goes. Sherie it sounds like A is eating quite a lot, although I'm pretty impressed every time E puts away a whole weetbix!
Bought another high chair on ebay today, will send DH to collect it when he gets home. It's pretty daggy with bananas in pyjamas on the seat cushion (!) but for only $30 it'll be handy.
ETA - Noni well done on finding a friend just up the road...you won't want to move soon! ;)
-
MD - Good luck at your sleep seminar. My sister went to the day place at Lanyon last week and her daughter is like a different person now. Even DH said she is looking more relaxed and prettier now she is getting more sleep.
K is constipated. I gave her some prunes and apple for breakfast. Poor little thing is straining so hard and has only popped out a couple of little ones. She hasn't been since Wed last week (not unusual) so there should be a fair bit to come. This morning on the change table she was really pushing and I could see some coming out and then it disappeared again! Sorry it that is TMI!
Ordered our high chair yesterday. Fingers crossed it arrives this week. Have been feeding K in her bebepod but it is pretty messy. She keeps grabbing her toes so we're going through a few pairs of socks each day!
Arte - I'm getting fat again too. Need to do more exercise, even if its just walks with K. Also need to stop eating ice cream, chocolate and other unhealthy items. K is still pretty cuddly, although it can depend on her mood. MIL always wants to cuddle but K isn't really interested in cuddles with her!
Cassius - glad that L is feeling better.
Mothers group this morning then a bit of shopping in town. Better go and finish getting ready before I have to wake K up.

hi everyone!
has everyone else's AF returned??? mine hasnt - i was happy about this and in general I am but now i am thinking when we do TTC maybe it will take AGES again... I am on mini pill and still BF but was wondering what is happening w everyone else? It sounds like you all have AF back... On that note Miss Renee - how are you:> what did Dr say? have been thinking about you. and how is your aunt and mum? big hug i think you are having a tough time right now.
I guess i need to read about the bottles?? I dont know anything about this? I have just bought all new ones so i HOPE this doesnt mean i need to replace them all??
Clare - SNAP!! I bought a bubaroo last week and it is gorgeous! It actually had a little fault so the company is replacing it for me (still usable) - i saw they are on sale on the bubaroo site (i bought from anothetr site). they are beautiful arent they? I have a few bags for N to sleep in (as he has started wetting through the night i need them) and this one is pretty gorgeous i think (may invest in a few more). i also like the look for the joey pouch thingy for when they are newborns (did you have this?) - good swaddler.. i think iw ill get that next time.
That reminds me - Jazmum i think you bought something especially for swaddling b4 hannah was born as yu had swaddling probs with Jess and Zoe??? am i right here or making something up?? did you find it useful?
Gracie - did you hear about the target ad?
Arte - I am also getting fat again!!! I think it is bc i have slcacked off majorly with the food and exercise.. better get back onto that! First day back at work was OK, it is a weird feeling but i am actuall yhappy to be back. I hoep soon i can concentrate more LOL!!! I miss N though, i only dropped hima t FDC 40 mins ago and I miss him already. I shouldnt really - i saw him enough ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT LOL!!!!!!!! N is def less cuddly than before, I used to be able to sit and cuddle hima ll day if i would - now it is rare, he will sit on my knee and play with his toys but not so cuddly unless he is V V tired. I did get himt o snuggle into me and sleep in melb when we were out (poor thing was EXHAUSTED) and I loved it. I remember when he was brand new and I felt tied to the couch bc he wanted to sleep in my arms - I miss that sooooooooo much now. I have turned into one of those annoying ppl who tell new mums and expectant women to appreciate every moment as they grow up fast!
Hi to everyone else, sorry i am rushed - will log on now and again from here... gotta keep myself entertained at work!
ETA - Cally we were posting at same time... sounds like a fun day you have planned. with K's straining, a friend of mine could also see it coming out and going in (i know TMI) with her daughter - she had to massage around her bum to help... that may help if it happens again. She added a tiny bit of prune juice to her cereal in the morning and that helped. so i am sure your apples and prunes will do the trick! N is the same with MIL cuddling, the nasty part of me does smile inwardly a little at that... (oh i am mean).... he really will only let me or sometimes DH really cuddle him now.
Is anyone else finding bub developing sep anx? N is def going down that path...
-
ughhh so i finally found the rest of the bottles and bought them and the teats and left the teats in the shop.. uggg its pouring down rain and now i have to walk to the shops and hope they even have them because its mainly an iga thing and i had to get my mum to drive me to iga for the bottles and now she has gone to work ahhhhh i hate my brain!!
asha is now starting to want a morning tea snack lol about an hour before shes due for her second bottle she starts winging for food lol she seems quite content with an awroroot biccie though or a piece of fruit..
oh and i was very releived to get af this morning too phew lol the tiredness must just be iron!!
yeah md i wouldnt be stressing if we werent full time bottle users either but the fact she is drinking a plastic chemical every day harmful or not bugs me!!
cally - we used to feed asha in her bouncer before we got a high chair, it was very messy too!!!
pregpan - i got af back 6wks after having asha :(
-
hi pregpan
no news about target ad yet. i don't think we'll hear anything to be honest cos he was so grumpy at the casting! i've only had af once since the birth. i feel like she's coming now but she never comes..
