Oh ladies could we Pleeeeeeeeeeeease not all talk about how great our babies are sleeping? I'm a terrible sleep deprived mummy, when it was 5am and I still had not had a straight half hour of sleep I just crashed even though she was crying next door. :( I just can't function! I rang QE2 this morning and a good thing I did because I was in their system but there was some sort of mix up (!) and there I was just sitting there on the waiting list waiting, waiting, waiting. Anyway they have given me a date (first one was the only week before his big trip that DH is away AND both DH and DD1's birthdays in the same week) so then they've given me another date - which is practically the last nanosecond before he goes. :( But I'm on the cancellation list as well. I don't know if it will help but i have to at least try or I'll end up in the nut house.
Cally please remind me again how useful your QE2 stay was! Is K still sleeping well now?
Pregpan, I thought of you in the middle of the night and wondered how Noah was getting along. When is your DH back?
-
ETA - Arte, we have this tommee tippee inflatable duck thing, it's like a big ducky dinghy that you put in the bath/shower recess so you don't have to fill the whole bath with water. It even quacks LOL. E screamed the first time that DH put her in it, but we put it away for a week then let her play with it in the lounge room and now she loves it. Good alternative if you don't have a bath. E also pats my chest when she wants boobie, although i think her first actual sign might be "duck" cos she loves the quacking noise I make whenever I sign it LOL.
Umm just thought of something else but gone again. I'm off for a sleep. Just remembered, Hayley, no BF ing babies don't sleep as long as FF babies but one or two get ups a night is manageable and plenty as far as BFing is concerned. Doesn't excuse getting up a million times or staying up half the night, Miss E!!
-
marydean you poor thing. So how long is it before you go to QE2?
noticed this little cutie on someone's sig - might cheer you up -:baby:
-
oh md you poor thing!!! i really really feel for you. i am not functioning so well at the moment, and this has only been about a week.... i mean he isnt a great sleeper at the best of times but this is awful (and STILL prob not as bad as Miss E). when will you goto qe2? i am sure it is going to chg your life.
N had another rough night last night, he was up about 4 times which is ok considering he is ill but it took me close to an hour to get him to sleep each time... so not so good!! poo little mite was in pain i could tell. anyway he did another poo at 6am (question here is it diahorea if he only poos every 6-12 hrs ie yest we had 4am, 9am, 5pm, 6am)??? anyway i did my collection and dropped it off this morning, i had lost the form for pathology so had to go back to the dr which is the other side of town, impressed - not!! i also had to cncel mothers group which suck as i have had to cancel all my fun this week. i am a bit deflated. anyway my mum wil be here tonight which will be good and then dh is back on sun. i think i may book a massage tom just for some me time and mum can look after N.
Great idea that tomee tipee thingy i will look into it (esp if it quacks)
ok gotta go, just got N to sleep and i need some breaky (yes it is 12 noon here)
-
Hayley - are you using laser for the hair removal? I think it is more to do with the fact that the formula is a bit harder for them to digest and makes them feel full for longer so they don't wake, rather than not having as much breastmilk.
Arte - sorry you and DH are fighting, having a baby certainly changes the dynamics in a relationship doesn't it? I think you can have a maximum of 1metre drop from a deck before you need a barrier - sorry, not much good when you have a baby though is it. Can you put a row of big planter pots around the edge to keep him away?
Pregpan - K also plays with my nipple, a few times we have been on the couch sitting next to DH and she starts playing with it, then looks at him and starts laughing. I swear she is saying 'hehe Daddy, all mine now!!'
I've been thinking the last couple of days that K hasn't been waking up as happy as she used to in the mornings. She used to have almost 30 minutes some mornings playing by herself. Anyway, this morning she woke at 6:20 and didn't sound very happy so I fed her (she had a feed at 12:45 too) and tried putting her back down. She made noises (happy ones) for about ten minutes, then fell asleep and woke again at 8:45!! I couldn't believe it! So we might try that again when she wakes unhappy.
MD - Glad that you have a date - Yes, K is a different baby. We went from an hour of screaming when it was bedtime to a baby that smiles at me when I put her in the cot and then puts herself off to sleep within 10 minutes without a whimper. In the last couple of weeks we have only had to go in and resettle her when she is really tired or constipated. She also doesn't want to stay up after a night feed, she goes straight back to sleep now.
The capsule hire people just rang up wanting their capsule back. I said she was only just big enough for her seat and I wasn't ready to put her in it yet so it would be another month. They said that would be another $20. Not impressed, there was no mention of an extra fee if you had it for more than 7 months (from pickup date). DH wants to move her into the seat, but the capsule is so much easier for me (and safer). When I take it in I might give them a lecture about how many babies aren't over 8 kgs in that time frame and how much safer the capsules are anyway.
Pregpan - poor little N. Is the poo really runny? I think that is more sign of diarrohea than the frequency. What a bummer about losing the form - that's sleep deprivation isn't it. Enjoy your massage.
K still doesn't feel like booby today. Very disheartening when she'd rather eat the remote than drink some milk!
-
cally - yep the poo is really runny, thats what i thought too but i figure it isnt as bad if it isnt constant?? anyway hav dropped off the sample and so i guess i will know what it is next week, i just want him to feel better the poor little thing. at least he is sleeping better today - he is napping now and has been asleep for an hour - i expect him to wake up soon. that sounds great - i have started to try to resettle N if he wakes up crying/grumpy as then i figure he is till tired and needs help to go to sleep but if he wakes up happy/chatting i figure he is refreshed.
that is crazy that you have to pay another $20 - i think when i got ours they said it was til 6 months or 8kg whatever is later with no fees added.
-
ahhhhhhh- i'm home!!! this morning was crazy.
i have never in my life seen so many babies. i reckon there was about 5000 there!!! anyway, when we got there they had closed the line cos there was too many people so we just laughed and said 'stuff it'. i couldn't believe how many people were waiting in the line with screaming kids, i mean, give it up!!!
anyway, we decided we'd gone all that way so we may as well eat and go shopping!! i bought 2 beautiful frames from country road to put photos of lewis in and a couple of pretty headbands for my new short hair. as we were leaving the shopping centre we walked past the line and it was really short (this was a couple of hours later) so we jumped on the end. we were in line about 10-15 mins and then we got to the front. awesome!!! i couldn't believe people had been waiting there for so long!!
lewis took a really good shot and the lady said 'he looks so adorable in his easysuit' yes!!!! i was very surprised at how many people didn't dress their kids in bonds clothes. very very silly if you ask me.....anyways, all in all it was ok in the end :)
md- sorry to hear you're having such a hard time with sleep....
pregpan- hope noah feels better soon. poor little man....
hayley- good luck with hair removal. i am so hairy!!!
-
QE2 - last week in June. Barely skated that one in before DH goes. Feeling slightly chirpier this morning after a nap.
Pregpan, Ummm (it's poo talk again LOL) I think diarrhoea refers to either frequency or consistency or a combination of both. I think it's safe to say that if it's still not normal then it hasn't resolved yet. But you're quite right, if it's not constant and v watery then it's less likely he will dehydrate, kwim? Bummer about your mother's group - my DD1 always gets sick when I've got something that I'm looking forward to!
Gracie - LOL you have just discovered the reason I always turn up slightly late - NO WAITING! Glad you had a nice time out and of course L looked adorable!
-
gracie - did the add not say preferably dressed in their fave bonds outfit?? lol well done at just jumping back in line when it was short and having a nice day our shopping!!
md - hope qe2 brings success and lots of sleep!! lucky they squeezed it in but i'll cross my fingers someone cancells and u can get a better time..
pregpan - hope its nothing nasty!! atleast if its less constant its less work for u!!
cally - id refuse to pay that if i was u!!!
haly - its just her bum thats showing but i just dont feel right and i dnt think dp would approve if i put them online anyways..
\
-
hi all
wel N seems a bit chirpier today at least so i am thinking he must be feeling a bit better, still not himself but better than yest... anyway i have been breastfeeding like a mad woman (will deal with my sore nips after i guess) and giving him gastrolyte and potatoe. he is soooo sick of potato i think so i am moving on to a few other things - i have a good book (called yummy baby) and they have some recommendations so i will try a few of them. he just had a mill arrowroot, not om the list they have spo i hope it is ok, i figured we eat things like that when we are ill and he guzzled it down and no gagging so that must be a good thing. anyway enough about that!
Gracie - yay on missing the line, and glad he looked so adorable... when will you find out how he went. what idiotsnot to dress the kids in bonds i say... glad you had fun shopping.... i am in need of some retail therapy big time.
so annoying i need to vent - my ILs just called me and proceeded to tell me how this week must be so much harder for DH as there is nothing he can do... HELLO!!!?? WTF!!!! even DH doesnt think that. i did say i dont see it that way when he is sound asleep in his nive big hotel bed and i am cleabing up poo and vomit all ngith and dealing with our sick son. i think they reaslised today wasnt the day to start that with me!!! i know it is hard for himbeiing away but really....
glad you have a date MD and it isnr ROO faraway, i know it prob feels like along way off. i have heard of a few ppl getting inw ith cancellations so finger's crossed. glad you are feeling a bit better. maybe take E for a walk and have coffee and cake, i just did that and i feel much better.
-
Lovely ladies, thank you for all the comforting words. I thought I owe you a story so here it is. I saw the traffic light turned amber from a distance so I slowed down. I've already stopped at the traffic light for quite a while, there was no car behind me and all the other cars next to me have all stopped. Then BAM! suddenly my car was hit from behind and although I was still hitting the brakes, I was push forward for like 4-5metres. Lucky there was no other car in front of me, otherwise my car could turn into a sandwich!
A nice lady came to my car and asked if I was alright. She's willing to be a witness cause she saw the guy was speeding and she could even see smoke coming from his car.
I just went to the panel beater for a quote and it might cost 4000 to fix the car but I dont know how much will be covered by my insurance. In a way, I kinda sad cause in my 33yrs of life, this is the first car I bought brand new for myself.
But on the positive side, we are so fortunate cause W was not in the car.
I have some stiff neck and back pain atm. Still deciding if I need to go to the dr or probably wait for my chiro appointment in 3 weeks time.
Thanks for reading and sorry for the selfish post. Will try to be back later for personals. I hope everyone is well and is enjoying the day :)
-
Agnes - you're so lucky W wasn't in the back seat!
MD - I got in on a cancellation and heaps of the others there did as well so fingers crossed! I think they keep some early bookings open for really little ones with feeding problems that need to come in straight away so if they don't fill up you might get one of those.
Pregpan - glad he is feeling a bit better. Grr to the inlaws.
Gracie - glad you got in, I was feeling a bit disappointed at the beginning when you said the line was closed. But a good day in the end, shopping and the photo shoot!
-
oohhhh agnes, that's so bad. you must have got a horrible shock! i hate taking lewis on unnecessary drives cos i'm so scared that some d**k is going to do that to us. i'm so glad w wasn't in the car...it's really dissapointing that it's happened to the car that you bought too..
prepgan- i can't believe your ils think it's harder for dh being AWAY from a sick baby!!!! i thought it was just my ils that were nutty!!!!
noni- did it really say to dress them in their fav bonds outfit??? i didn't read that....that makes them even more stooopid!!! i looked around me and there were kids in thomas the tank engine tops and pumpkin patch outfits. i couldn't believe it!!
cally- glad not to disappoint you :) yes it was a great day!! shopping, eating, drinking coffee and we still got their photos done :)
-
ok gracie i am ready for a bachelor download!!!!
loved the episode from last night!!! that jenny (?) is a bit of a b*tch dont you think? i thought the way she attacked susan was AWFUL. i still dont know if susan is a fake but man that was crazy!
-
i know!!!! i actually really like sussan. i think she's very pretty and articulate and handled herself really well when they were attacking her. i felt sorry for her!!
i thought it was sort of funny when they were all calling sarah canada immature when she's only 23yo iykwim? it's like they all expected her to act like a 40yo or something?? i was so bl44dy immature when i was 23!
-
Agnes - Thats so scary, I'm glad that you are ok. Thank god Will wasnt in the car. It doesnt matter how safely you drive, theres always idiots on the road and that scares me alot.
MD - Ohhhh no I feel terrible!!! I hope tonight E is easier on you.
Gracie - Good luck with the contest! You'd think being a bonds contest they'd dress their bubs in bonds!
Cally - Yep laser treatment. Thats silly that they want an extra $20!
Pregpan - Ohhh inlaws have no idea do they? I'm sorry to hear that Noah is still a bit unwell, the poor guy, this bug has hit him hard. When is your DH home?
I got a package full of surfie clothes for Maddie today from my SIL in Melb who has just come back from Penang. So Maddie is going to look like a real surfy chick this summer. I cant wait to go to Penang if this is the kinda clothing I can get for her!!!
-
Agnes, you need to go to the dr and report it because your insurance will pay for the medical bills. It's quite important to do this in case it turns into a long term back/neck problem. Have you spoken to your insurance company yet? Give them a call and they will tell you which repairers to go to so that you don't have to pay any money yourself. Tell them you will be going to the doctors as well. xxx
-
Thanks MD, i honestly didnt know about that. Glad you mentioned that. Will try to book in to the dr tomorrow.
Hayley, rofl on Maddie and the pen, too bad you didnt get a photo. When are you going to penang? I am from indonesia, so we speak similar language and have similar weather, food, etc. Let me know if you want to know how to say 'thanks' or other words in malay.
Gracie, how nice! Some retail therapy and a happy bub in the photo. Hope he gets it!
BBL for more personals, DH has just arrived

Hi Girls!
We had a pretty interesting day to say the least... we were almost involved in a car accident. Leila was in the car (frikkin scary!).
the near crash we were in involved us and a massive f*@k off truck. we were waiting at traffic lights and he tried to run a red around a corner and his carriage came OVER the top our car!!!!! the wheel bumped the back of our car and that is when lorenzo lost it and started going psycho. i was already taking off my belt to get to leila! LOL, probably not the smartest thing, but hey, wadda ya gunna do?!
And then about an hour later we came across the lygon street accident. there were cars everywhere and it was pandemonium, people were running everywhere. what is up with all the crazy drivers??? what's the rush people???
Sorry enough of my tangent!
MD: thank goodness that you have the qe2 option. i hope that things start to get better soon. i know that i go bonkers when leila is up more than twice a night, so i can only imagine what it's like for you these nights. to you!
Pregpan: OMG! i would have just lost the plot if the ILs tried that one on me!! HA! give me a nice hotel room and a good nights sleep any day! especially knowing that my baby is in good hands!!!!
Noni: the AIO cloths are great!! bit pricey but sooo worth it! I bought a bulk lot of 'Bum Genius' ones for around $500 (for 26) and haven't looked back. they are soo cute with loads of bright colours. and also they last until they are toilet trained as they grow with them....
anyway i had better dash and rain is expected tonight around 10pm and i have to get the washing in...oh happy days....how i wish i was a millionare and didnt have to worry about such trivialities!!!
loads of smiles and BIG MASSIVE LONG SLEEPS to you all and the babies tonight! LOL!! Noni...time for you to send out the sleep vibes again!:D
Clare
-
Glad to hear lots of Sept babies are crawling, yay! William is forward crawling too, it started on Sunday and suddenly yesterday he was everywhere. Now I need to figure out how to baby-proof the house or perhaps how to house-proof the baby LOL.
Somehow he skipped commando after spending ages on backwards commando crawl.
Makes me wonder, perhaps the night screaming is a combination of growth spurt and teething.
Leanne, lol at you jumping into the boys bed ;)
Noni, Asha looks so cute in the cloth nappy :)
Pregpan, I really hope Noah gets better soon, poor baby. The gastro W had last time from childcare was a bad one too, all the babies in his room had it, even the carers. Sorry about the ILs, what were they thinking
MD, I've called the insurance company but the girl that I talked too didnt know most of info I needed. Glad the FDC went well.
I hope E sleeps well tonight so you too can get some rest. If it makes you feel better, we have been having terrible nights here too with lots of crying and unsettledness. Finger crossed you get to go to QE2 soon.
Clare, aww hugs to you, thats scary. I am always afraid with big trucks. How are you feeling? Have a cuppa if you're still shaking.
Arte, thanks for the news on Katie. Sorry about the bath and the house, is there any chance you can make some changes to the house to make it more safe? Hope things get better with you and DH.
Cally, sounds like K is doing really well with sleeping and resetlling, thats fantastic. Btw, W loves drinking water too. I think sippy cup is his fav thing atm
Jazmum, no sleeping through here :(
Renee, 370 wow thats a good excuse to buy more albums and frames lol. He looks so cute on the photo, love the big smiles :)
Sherie, I hope A is sleeping well for you
More sleeping vibes to everyone ....
-
Alister is not sleeping well still. Am at a bit of a loss as to what to do next about it. The other kids weren't like this at all with teething - not to this extent anyway. To make it harder, he just doesn't seem to like sleeping in his cot ATM, not even for day sleeps now. So I have no idea whether I did inadvertently do the wrong thing by putting him in our bed. We have decided that he will not come into our bed, but I will stand there and just keep my hand firmly on his back while he settles and nods off again or otherwise he tries to sit up. Hard work and exhausting for me, but he seems to be fine while I do that until he is asleep again.
Miserable and cold here today with a bit of rain on and off. Netball was cancelled, but the football was moved to the indoor basketball stadium - not a great deal warmer but it was out of the wind at least. Got some great bargains on Ralph Lauren shirts for Alister too - $9.99 each off ebay from the US and the guy has already sent them to me. I don't even care if they are knock-offs at that price LOL.
-
oh clare you poor thing  how scarey! i saw that lygon st crash on the news. it looked awful :( i hate hoon drivers. i can't stand people that are willing to put other peoples' lives at risk like that.
sherie- sorry to hear you're having a hard time with alister sleeping atm. how long do you usually have to leave your hand on his back for before he goes to sleep? lewis refuses to do daysleeps in his cot too. atm he's asleep on my lap on the couch. it's a PITA :)
agnes- w sounds like he's coming along great guns re crawling :) that's awesome. do you need to do lots to your place to babyproof it?
hayley- are you going to penang? i must have missed that one!
it's a horrible day here. p8ssing down with rain. dp was going to work on the deck all day but it's too cold for that. we've just lit a roaring fire and i'm relaxing in front of it with lewis napping in my arms :)
-
Its not that long Gracie, at best 5 mins at worst 10minutes. Its the leaning over the cot rail that makes it hard, but I can't put it down or otherwise he would want to get out.
-
oh that's not too bad i guess sherie, i had images of you standing there rolling your eyes for an hour with your hand on his little back! lmao
how many teeth does alister have now?
-
Nah, nowhere near that bad LOL, but it is a pain when you are doing it at least once every hour. He still only has three teeth ATM.
-
Sherie - I guess you are already using panadol or neurofen, so all I can say is I hope the teeth come through quickly. Are you up every hour throughout the night? You must be exhausted.
Clare - How scary for you! Was the truck driver driving dangerously? I'm glad that nothing terrible happened, but must have given you a fright.
MD - Forgot to mention the other day that I'm glad E's first day at FDC went well. How many days a week is she going?
Gracie - Yep going to KL & Penang in Sept. Its all booked and paid for now we're just hanging to go! Your relaxing day in sounds perfect.
Agnes - Thanks for the offer, I will ask you how to say certain words closer to the time because theres no way I could remember them come Sept.
We went out for dinner last night with friends (mum babysat) and I drank far too much wine. This morning I dragged myself out of bed I feel terrible, but its all self inflicted so I'm trying to get over it and get on with it lol.
Also just wanted to add, I put Maddie down to sleep on her back in her cot, and often I will walk in to check on her and find she has rolled to her tummy and is fast asleep. She looks so uncomfy though because she hangs both her legs out through the rails in the cot, god knows how she gets them in there in the first place. I always move her back to her back but DP says just leave her she's fine, what do you think?
-
Hayley - I just leave K in whatever position she falls asleep in. We had two shocking episodes where I tried rolling her over and woke her up and there was no way on earth she was going back to sleep. So for my own sanity she sleeps in whatever position she falls asleep in. She's been able to roll from her front since December so I'm not worried about her getting stuck (and I figure she'll yell loudly if she needs me!)
Clare - scary crash!! Glad you're all OK. Was the car very damaged?
Gracie - oh, a fire sounds lovely. I've just popped the heater on but it's not nearly as nice.
Sherie - sleeping vibes out to Alister. Yay for the bargain shirts!
Little Miss K seems to have decided that 30 minutes is plenty of time for a day nap. Not impressed!
She did a big poo while she was strapped into DH in the Bjorn while we were in KMart. He wasn't coping with the smell at all. And it made us completely forget that the main reason we were there was to look at safety gates! Oh well, on the list for next weekend!
-
Cally, I bet he thought the world was going to end because he had to put up with a stinky bot-bot  LOL.
Hayley, yeah, I alternate between the two because I really don't like to use nurofen much at all, but it does seem more effective for teething pain. He does have at least one long stretch of around 3, sometimes 4hrs where he doesn't wake, but from about midnight onwards he is up - you can nearly set your watch by it, it is that predictable now.
Clare, I completely missed the bit about your accident, so sorry! - how are you feeling today though? Not sore or anything? I would have really scared both of you.
Alister has not long woken up from a 3hr sleep - he does seem to be suffering a bit from all the wake ups too, even though he never completely wakes during the night kwim? Fingers crossed this will get him through now till bedtime.
-
afternoon everyone
clare - you poor thing!!! that must have been incredibly scary for you.
hayley - hannah has slept on her tummy since she was born. if she rolled into that position and you follow all of the other guidelines closely, then i'm sure she'll be fine.
bummer about the hangover. i think the next time i have a drink (whenever i finish breastfeeding) it's going to go straight to my head - as i really haven't had a drink since i was pregnant with jess!!
cally - that is so funny about your dh.you'll have to let him know that he's been keping us all amused lately
sherie - i find it hard to settle hannah in her cot too. as soon as i put her in she stands up. i've got to work something out though - i'd hate for the girls to remember their early childhood with a cranky mummy:(
-
Jaz, I've been thinking about that a lot lately too. I think back to when I was young and I can't really remember my mum being cranky at us, but no doubt she was at times. So I take solace that maybe they wont remember it, but then they might too kwim?
-
Clare, how scary! So glad you're alright. I saw a road train go thru a red light (it was properly red) and nearly take out a small car with three kids in the back, so I followed him, got the number plate and dobbed him in to the police. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't happen if more women with kids drove trucks! Scary stuff.
Jazmum, I think I'm a cranky mummy too but DD doesn't. It's because it's balanced out by all the nice time we have together. That's my theory anyway.
Sherie, I ask myself how long I can keep giving Panadol/nurofen before it just gets ridiculous. She's been teething constantly for 2 1/2 months and still only one toofie to show for it. We've put E back on the Zantac tho just in case it's reflux not toofies keeping her up. WTG on your ebay bargains!
LOL Cally at your DH being strapped to the stinky bub! Remember when those BF poos hardly smelt at all??
Arte, was it you who asked about the signing? E has just "twigged" these last few days that certain signs are being repeated, she's started watching me really carefully now. She was hitting her tummy today when I offered her booby but I don't know if she was just excited and flapping her arm or if she's trying to copy, KWIM? So far we're doing eat/food/hungry (same sign), drink, boobie, duck, pussy cat, and I reckon she's going to start signing back soon. I saw the light come on in her eyes LOL.
Wonder how Noah is going today. Pregpan did they say when you'd get the pathology results back?
Hayley, just two days a week for 5 hours (during school hours) but we will increase that to 3 days when DH leaves. Though we went shopping yesterday and she sat up in the trolley for the first time and was quite happy to watch everything going on.
Gracie, I'd loooove your roaring fire right now. We have very comfortable but non-atmospheric central heating here! V cold here today too.
-
sherie - my mum is a nurse and she used to work night shift a couple of nights a week - i remember those cranky times lol. (especially when she used to do our hair for school in the morning:cryinglaugh:) i also remember my dad doing all of the fun stuff - playing with us in the yard etc. I guess 'cause mum was busy taking care of all the housework etc. I want my girls to remember me as a fun mummy too :(
anyway - off to get tea ready bbl :)
-
Jazmum - You sound like a great, fun loving mummy to me. Like MD said, I think all the good times out weigh the bad mood mummy days. I can remember my mum having more than a few bad mood days, but the fun times we had together are the memories that stick on my mind. I so know what you mean though, & i'm sure its a common worry for all mummies. Just keep doing what you are doing, we all have our share of grumpy mum bad days.
MD - Hope you are rugged up tonight! We havent tried Maddie in the trolley seat yet. Do you have a trolley mate?
Cally - Ok I guess you are right, if she is unhappy on her tum she will let me know. LMAO at the poo in the bjorn!!
Sherie - I am wary about using too much panadol as well. Have you tried the natural teething remedies? We havent used it enough to determine whether it actually does anything for the pain. Anyway looks like we are in the same boat as you with the teeth. Maddie has a terrible looking rash all around her mouth, a bit of a botty rash and a runny nose and she had a screaming fit before and it gave us the chance to see into her mouth, where there is a definate little cut on her bottom gum right at the front. So looks as if I have jinxed myself and the sleepless nights are on the way lol. Explains the shocking rash though...its so bad poor thing lol. How many teeth is Alister up to now?
Aww Maddie and & daddy are having a convo in the kitchen they are both babbling dad dad dad to each other, I could cry its so cute!!!
Quick q regarding cows milk, if you use it in purees/cooking is that setting them up for lactose intolerance?
-
Hi Girls!
Sherie: sorry to hear the little man is finding it hard to sleep. v frustrating. but i try to remind myself with this mantra...'this too shall pass!" LOL, at the very least it gives you the few seconds sometimes needed to calm down when the wailing starts up again in the middle of the night! Also i totally get the holding him down when going to sleep. leila loves to get right up and sit there and have a chat. the other day she did it and i left her to it...and low and behold 10 minutes later she had fallen fast asleep in the sitting position!! LOL! DH got a photo...i'll try and post it in the gallery when i work out how to do it.
Hayley: not too clear on the cows milk thing either. MACH nurse told me to put some in leilas cereal in the morning which i have been doing for the past week and she seems fine...if that's any help! Also, regarding the crazy sleep positions, i reckon leave her to it. as i said to Sherie, leila fell asleep while sitting in her cot and is none too worse for the experience!! we also have those 'airwraps' around the cot and that stops her from sticking legs and arms out. we bought it when she started to go walkabout in the cot.
MD: yeah i wished i got his rego. he was on a mobile phone too. i checked today and the car has a cracked rear light...not happy jan.
JazMum: yep, i think i qualify for cranky mums 2008! but we try our best and one day they'll realise that! well we can only hope!!
Gracie: so jealous of your roaring fire. here we have a very unsexy column heater that is surrounded by the dog and one of the cats...
Agnes: congrats to W with the crawling! what a champ and they are so proud of themselves when they work it out arent they?!!
Cally: not too much damage, a cracked rear light...although i think that i am going to be ultra paranoid for awhile! LOL!
Well our news of the day is that Leila is CRAWLING!! hallelujah! the frustrated baby worked it out and can now follow me everywhere...E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E! gotta childproof ASAP. the cats are terrified.
anyway best dash as it's laaate for me...egad. saturday night before midnight and i am turning in for the night...

Hayley, I would be careful with dairy if there is a family history of allergies but if she is fine with formula then a bit more dairy in cooking won't make a difference. W likes to sip a bit of my cereal milk in the morning (only time he will eat off a spoon), but then I am not overly worried about allergies as there is nothing in either family.
Agnes, my W had several grizzley nights when he was hard to resettle but then he started crawling and it stopped.
Clare, congrats on the crawling.
MD, is E worse at night when your DH is away or is it just harder to manage on your own? You said she is a clingy bub, could it be sep anx when daddy is away?
Sherie, sorry A isn't sleeping well, constant wake ups are a pain.
I have some friends visiting and we stayed up until 2am playing boardgames. Between 9pm and 2am I had to go and resettle W 7-8 times. It is crazy. I had an appointment with Plunket but the lady but she said to feed him and put him in the cot and that he would 'protest' but would eventually get used to it. I told her I wouldn't leave him to cry and then she had no other ideas. She referred me to a family clinic but I think I will cancel because it is a two hour drive and I doubt they can tell me anything I haven't thought of.
-
Arte, that would be really frustrating - how could she possibly not have any other ideas apart from CC?
Clare, LMAO at your terrified cats! poor things. Well done to Leila though, clever little munchkin. And yeah, no where is off limits once they can chance you down LOL. Alister gets upset because I move to fast for him. Its hard knowing that it will pass, but its the 'when will it pass' that is hardest kwim? It can't go on forever - have you ever known a teen to not like sleep? ;)
Hayley, Cows milk should be fine now. I was using it in the older kids porridge when they were this age. And like Clare said, there is already cows milk in the formula so she should be fine with it. If Maddy has a split in the gum, the tooth will be through in the next day or so, once you see the split the end is in sight LOL. Alister still only has 3 teeth, but lovely teething poos *YUCK*
Marydean, thats awesome that Miss E is twigged on to the signing now. Does H do it with her too?
Alister was slightly better last night with not as many wake ups, but he had more to eat last night because I figured if he was going to be waking up anyway, I may as well give him dinner, so he had apple and cereal, a rusk (which he has now figured out how to eat LOL) and a crumbed lamb cutlet bone, which he thought was the best thing ever LMAO - he got so cranky when I took it off him. So he had a fair bit of solids and then his normal bedtime bottle and I thought it would upset him but he was fine, even the wakeups were only quick settles too - pop the dummy back in, readjust his blankets and a quick pat on the back and we were done.

Well done Sherie!!! and well done to Alister!! LOL at the lamb cutlet!! i went to buy some yesterday for leila but at $25 a kilo i baulked. is this alot or this normal these days??? if so i'll just suck it up and buy them...
Arte: frustrating news about plunket. they dont seem to be too good for mums and bubs...which then questions their exact role! i reckon if the sleep is really bothering you then try and see what the mob 2 hours away do, it cant hurt, it may cost a couple tanks of petrol...otherwise do they have a website that you can check out to see what they offer? otherwise, some friends who preffered a more gentle approach have gone (and found some good hints) from the pinky mckay talks. she has her own website (not called pinky mckay), if you type her name into a search engine her site is the first to come up...
there are some good reads on there.
anyway, we are off to brave the cold and take the dog somewhere interesting for the day.
hope everyones sunday is peachy!!
-
Clare, that is really exxie for cutlets, but it is really a lot cheaper if you buy them uncrumbed and do them yourself. Our here they cost around $2ea crumbed. But you guys in the city are getting totally ripped off for meat prices.
Hayley, I have been using Alister in the trolley seat ever since he could suit up on his own - there is so much more room in the trolley without the baby capsule on it. But I do use the capsule trolleys if he is tired and likely to fall asleep. I never worried about getting the trolley mate/trolled monster/clean shopper though, as grubby as trolleys can be LOL. Lindsay used to like to suck on the handle of the trolleys and it would make me gag, but I started to take something for him to play with so he wasn't tempted LOL.

Hhhm I can seem to be able to see my ticker
Thought I post here before heading to church.
Night waking is still happening around here, though I am hoping that it will settle soon now that he is finally crawling.
Yest we went to see a friend who has a premmie. Aaww he is so cute and tiny compared to W. Babies are really addictive, makes me want another one LOL He has lots of hair, which reminds me of Noah, Pregpan. Btw how is Noah today, hope he has conquered the nasty bug.
Sherie, hope the tooth comes out soon so Alister (and yourself) can sleep better.
Gracie, I really need to fix all the cables and cords, he is really interested in cords and wants to chew them all the time lol. Was it you whose DP is an electrician? I presume your house is pretty neat with all the wiring then. I think today will be quite wet too. Aaw, I envy you on the roaring fire. Nothing beats snuggling with our babies and drinking hot choc in front of the fire. I think thats one of the best things about living in the mountain.
Hayley, since W started rolling, everytime I put him to sleep on his back he rolled over to his tummy. I usually leave him like that, dont want to wake a sleeping baby up. LOL on the hanging legs, he does that too. I took a peek one time and apparently after I lie him down, he rolled over and crawled backwards. Then he yelled for us and kept looking at the door waiting for us to come.
Cally, we are thinking about buying a playpen. Prob need to have a look at safety gates too.
Jazmum, was it you who ask if I am drinking softdrink. I sometimes drink diet coke, but I didnt know it might trigger night waking, need to stop drinking it then.
Hugs, you are a great mum, I just know that! Dont worry, my mum worked all the time when we were little and usually arrived home tired. But I didn?t remember that now, I can only remember all the good things
MD & Sherie, when teething I usually give him braueur teething relief. I prefer that than panadol since its natural.
Arte & MD, the signing sounds promising :)
Arte, I am too hoping that when he is getting good at crawling, the night waking will stop. Sorry about the sleep appointment, cant believe leaving them to cry is the only suggestion they have.
Clare, yay on the crawling. I so hear you on EVERYWHERE lol
-
Sherie: OMG! these werent even crumbed!!! and we are not talking organic or free-range stuff here. just bog standard abbatoir, factory farmed lambies...ahhh the joys of the city!!
Agnes: hear you on the cords...leila is addicted to them...must do something about it...
