My god Clare! Are your serious???? There is no way known I would pay that much for uncrumbed lamb cutlets. Can you find a wholesaler who deals in bulk to get it cheaper?
Agnes, I got the brauers colic relief, and I can't see that it makes much of a difference to him, but the teething one they only had in a big bottle for nearly $20 so I wasn't keen to buy it JIC it didn't work LOL. How prem was your friends baby?
-
Aaah, E hasn't tasted lamb cutlets because when I saw them they were $30 a kilo (!!!) I remember when they were $7 a kilo AND I'm not old!
Sherie Yay for A sleeping a bit better. E bellows if her dinner is finished and she still wants more LOL!
Hayley, we have this thing that straps the baby a bit firmer to the trolley seat (I don't trust their straps plus you can use this one on regular chairs in cafes etc - handy when they are bigger) but she can still suck the handle/bar. DD1 sucked shopping trolleys too and no harm ever came of it LOL.
Cally, we have a playpen around the computer, and a portacot set up with a few toys in it in case i have to dump and run (ie broken glass emergency, someone comes to the door, getting hot food out of the oven, etc). I actually managed to have a (short) nap the other day lying on the lounge where she could see me, playing in the portacot. I got DH to move the furniture around this morning to fit it in a bit better LOL.
Arte, I think you might be right about E sleeping better when DH is here. She loves her Daddy and is very attached to him. Doesn't help me much when he's gone though!
Re Milk - on our chart of introducing foods in a delayed manner for the allergy thing they say to start small amounts of yoghurt, then cheese, then milk after 9 mths. As always, introduce a small quantity for three days or so and watch for any reaction. Most ppl are already giving their bubs milk anyway as it's in a lot of the processed baby food jars.
Agnes, I sometimes have the diet coke without caffeine. My friends all say with no sugar and no caffeine why would you bother LOL!
Clare, how exciting that Leila is crawling! LOL at your cats! Mine is quite calm about it all, DD1 was always very gentle with her. Boston Fluffychops on the other hand didn't know what hit him. However he finally appears to have realised E is human as he took his bunny toy to her to play with him the other day. It was hilarious.
Ok, better go, am supposed to be doing a bit of work on the puter before DH heads off again tonight. :(
-
Clare, that is a crazy price for lamb chops! I refuse to buy chops unless they are on special for $9.99 per kilo. Luckily we got half a cow off my mum and it works out to be $7 per kilo for all the fillet steak, roasts, stewing steak and mince that should last us all year. I will check out the Pinky site, but I think most of the sleep issues focus on settling the baby which isn't really our problem - he goes to bed easily, just wakes constantly.
Haley, I would love to have a date night but any potential baby sitters are two hours away and since he won't drink from a bottle or settle without boobie (and wakes every hour) I don't think I could leave him anyway. The longest I have been away from him is 1.5hours when I took the cat and dog to the vet. I would really like some time to myself but I have no idea how to do it
I think I will give plunket a ring tomorrow and ask what sort of techniques they are likely to suggest because I really don't want to drive 2 hours just to find that they want me to put him in the cot and leave him to cry.
The cutest thing ever happened the other night - we went out to dinner and in the hotel lobby there was another little boy that had just learned to walk and W was walking holding my finger and then he started chasing the other little boy (still holding my finger) lol it was soo funny, every time he caught the other boy he patted him and they both laughed and then the other boy would toddle off again
-
oh gosh theres soooo many posts since last i posted lol ive kinda been skimming through occassionally but things have been busy so i havnt been able to post..
does anyone know anything about oral thrush??? Asha has it and lately shes been really off her bottle could that be why? is thrush irritating, i am assuming so.. ive got daktarin now so hopefully that will clear it up..
went to the baby expo saturday and looked at a few mcn options.. ended up going with pea pods over itti bitti delish mainly the price and the style fit us more plus they come with a little bag u can put them in once they are wet or soiled etc.. so we got two to try them out, have only used one once but it held up really well no leaks and she felt nice and dry :)
arte - ohhh how adorable!! i cant believe W is walking sooo early!! way to go!!
md - sorry dh is heading off again :( the first time i introduced a food with milk powder it was coz i realised the jar one id given her had it in it anyway and no reaction.. how is the food introducing going? are u doing that coz miss h was sensitive to something?
sherie - i find the teething relief usefull but not when shes at her worst iykwim then sometimes not even panadol or nurofen will help.. i dont find nurofen that usefull for asha actually.. weird..
agnes - is the preemie ok? out of hospital? lol @ babies being addictive :)
cassius - congrats on the crawling, Ashas just started going forwards lol shes not near quick enough to follow people yet though i am sure it wont be too long
hi to everyone i missed biig waves!!! just cant catch up on it all lol
-
Hi spunky mummas,
I am so supa dooper sorry I have been MIA, I am such a bad baby buddy *smacks hand*.
I have no chance on catching up since your all such chatterboxes, so I apologise if I have missed something important. I was reading every now and then but these threads move a mile a minute.
Anyway not much happening on our end. Still no teeth but we think they are coming now, have bought some Hylands teething relief which seems to be doing the trick. Have joined a playgroup and so far we are loving it, last week they shouted us coffee and cookies and we sat in the park chatting.
I hope everyone is well. Big thanks to Arte for checking up on me, your such a sweetie. I promise to try and be a better baby buddy from now on lol.
-
Katie - welcome back, you're not a bad baby buddy, you're just a busy mummy!!
MD - let me know when you want to meet for coffee this week
Sherie - we have the Brauers teething relief, but I don't know if it makes any difference. We have the Brauers Calm and I've used that a few times (prior to sleep school when I needed an easy night) and it definitely works.
K did not want BM this morning! Each time I offered she just threw her head back. Ended up expressing and mixing it in with her weetbix so at least she got some that way (only got 50mLs though). I thought she was getting better, yesterday there were only 2 feeds when she only wanted one side, every other time she had 2. Hope she gets interested again soon!! At least she has both sides before bed and the middle of the night feed.
Well I better go and pack, we're heading up to my parents for the week so they can have a 'Katie fix' before heading to the Kimberley for 3 months!
-
Morning Girls,
Well I am trying to do the mountain of washing I have and clean the house and keep the kids in toe. ATM they are all resting Oh I have to go to the shops today too so that will be interesting with all 3...
Lamb Cutlets- I am always using them so I buy them all the time when I see them on special. Olivia no likes to chew on the chicken drumstick bone too when we are having chicken. Which is tonight - Lee's Famous Roast Chicken is on the menu.
Katie- Welcome back.
MD- Sorry If I upset you about saying how Olivia sleeping though dont forget I have 2 other little boys that keep me up some nights. Speaking of that Xavier had Temps the last 2 nights I think he is getting the cold. Hope E Slept better for you last night.
Art- Way to go W you are really advanced. How cute too playing with the other boy. I think Jordy was like that too... One minute he was holding my hand next he was running
Cally- Have fun at your parents
Noni- The Daktarin should clear it all up
Oh I forgot to mention I have booked DH in to get the snip he first visit is on the
17th June and they said they do the procedure about a 1week after that.
Hello to Everyone and have a wonderful day:hello:
-
Ooooh Leanne, roast chicken sounds goood. I don't do chicken often because it never goes far with all of us and I find the big ones are too dry and tough. Good luck at the shops today too LOL. Is your DH nervous at all?
Cally, LOL at the parents getting their Katie Fix. How far away are they from you again - I can't remember if you've previously said. The healthfood shop I got hte colic relief from didn't have the calm one, but I might ask if she can get it in - she is pretty good like that.
Katie! Hello to you! Thats great you are enjoying playgroup - Logan will get so much out of it, especially once he is a bit bigger and can join in more. How lovely they shouted coffee and cookies - that would have won me over for sure LOL.
Noni, The one MCN I brought was a peapod and I really liked it too, but Alister just didn't look comfortable sleeping in it, like there was too much bulk for him. I suppose he would have gotten used to it, but I decided it would be too much washing if I went all out and converted over.
After a bit of research on teething relief, I decided to get some Weleda teething powder because on the other forums I checked out, they couldn't recommend it highly enough. Fingers crossed that it is as good as they say it is. Hopefully I should have it by the end of the week. Although last night wasn't too bad. He woke at around 10.30 and I gave him nurofen because he did seem really upset, and we only had 4 more wakeups after that all between 11 and 1.30 and after that he slept till just after 7am. Poor DH spent the night on the couch because he was too tired and wanted unbroken sleep LOL  And this morning his gum where the tooth is is sooo red and almost translucent and it does look like the skin is just starting to split open. He also refused to eat brekkie too, so he is in bed now sleeping after having a dose of panadol because he isn't even sucking on his dummy normally either - he puts it to the other side of his mouth to the sore tooth and sucks it, so it must be really sore today.
On the home front I have a mountain of washing to do because it rained almost constantly yeterday - nothing beneficial, just sleety misty rain. I have already done 4 loads and I have another 3 to go *sigh*
-
Sorry, think that my post read a bit wrong - apart from the odd few steps W still needs to hold fingers when he is walking - he has the strength but not the balance. So when he was chasing the other boy I guess I was chasing him too lol
Noni, hope A starts feeding better again now that the thrush is getting treated.
Haley, did you get the ikea highchair? Is there a big gap between the tray and the baby? My current one is driving me crazy
Another night of hourly wake-ups :wall:
Leanne, your chicken sounds yum. With your fertility troubles before the boys I bet your DH never imagined he would have to get the snip lol
Sherie, poor Alister! Hope that damn tooth pops through soon (or at least the Weleda works). I should be doing some washing. I am going to look at clothes driers in town today because it takes all day for clothes to dry and they are usually still a bit damp. It just doesn't get warm enough. There have been heaps of frosts lately and it is still icey white in the shade at lunchtime.
Ozstar, good to see you back. Logan is looking very cute in his ticker pic.
Better go and do some housework while W is asleep
-
Sherie- I buy my chickens in the twin pack they are great. Sorry to hear about A teeth I hope it comes though soon. I hate the teething stage it sucks. Good luck with the washing mine is an endless mountain (well it seems like its endless gone are the days when I had only 1 load to do). lol.. DH seems really good about getting it done.
ART- Yeah seems funny really we tried for so long then had to go though an IVF Journey and then all of a sudden we fell natually. Life sure is weird. Although if we ever really get the urge to have more babies which I pray to god we dont, we still have 2 frozen embies. lol.
-
LOL Leemar. What happens to your embies if you don't want to use them?
MD, I have been looking at the inflatable bath duck. How deep is the water? Can you fit a bath seat into it? If he doesn't have the seat he spends all of bathtime trying to stand up. DH asked the manager if they could put in a shub instead of a shower box but it was a no-go because they have already paid for the shower box apparently. What a pain. They keep cr@pping on about the $100K renovation, but all we really wanted was new carpet and the rest was fine (actually better because there was a bath and sides on the deck).
-
hello ladies
i'm hearing you all on the mountains of washing. it seems never ending here.
it has rained all weekend, which means we have to have the dog inside the house 24/7 (she goes out to do her business but that's about it). she has no shelter outside atm cos we've ripped the whole deck off the back of the house. this creates a lot more mess as she drags cr7p in with her everytime she comes in and she's losing a crazy amount of hair atm.
we've also had the coonara fire going constantly which creates mess also as we're always dragging in wood and kindling to keep it going. the house looks like a disaster zone! sometimes i think it's so lucky we live in a really secluded area, if anyone turned up here unexpectantly i'd be too embarassed to let them in the house.
i'm getting anxious about lewis starting to crawl through all this rubble and am obsessing over getting a new vacuum cleaner. ours is just totally useless for the amount of mess we have. i think i need a full strength industrial one! after reading a thread on it i really want a dyson one. do any of you ladies know anything about these? i'm thinking of asking dp if i can get one as a (very) early birthday present :)
sherie- poor A's little gums. they sound so sore! have you tried the hyland's teething relief? i've got some and my friend and i tried yhem and they do numb your mouth a little.
lewis has got two fang teeth (not the front but ones next to them) and the bottom two. his front one looks really purple on the gum, do you think these means this might come through soon?
katie- great to see you back :) just pop in when you can hun, we understand
leanne- good luck to dh for the snip. is he anxious about it at all?
arte- i can't believe they won't let you just have a bl99dy bath! we have a good friend who is a builder who built an exquisite 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house but had trouble selling it cos he didn't put a bath in. i hope it all works out for you
md- how's gorgeous E going? so are you counting down the days till you (hopefully) get to return to the city of churches? is it definite yet?
noni- hope little asha's thrush is clearing up ok
hayley- how's uni going? have you done teaching rounds yet?
renee- i thought of you last night when i was watching big brother- i think that the brickie 'rory' is a bit cute. not as cute as your little rory of course :)
hope everyone else is having a great day.
-
Hi Girls,
Just a quick one for me as I am at uni...
Gracie: LOL about your puppy dog!! Stella is also driving us mad with hair loss and muddy paws!! She doesn't understand why we freak out when she comes barrelling down the hall towards us, spraying water and mud all up the walls...(she's also 50kgs, so there's alota dog to go round lol).
We have a Dyson and they are frikkin awesome. DH really wanted it and so off we went and we havent looked back. i cant recommend it highly enough. especially for pet hair and caked in baby food on the floor.
and yes, i too think rory from big brother is on the cute side...although he comes across as a bit of a cad..
Sherie: the teething tip is great. i am off to buy some. i have used the brauer stuff as well. i am still hoping it works. after homeopathy helped me fall pg i am a bit of a convert LOL! I might have to try some out on myself as i have a crazy adult tooth trying to push through my baby tooth (yep, still have one of the old milk ones...egad). so off to the orthodontist in the next couple of weeks...looks like braces are in order...aarrrrrhhhhhhhggggg!
Noni: how's Asha feeling now that the thrush treatment has started? I hope it clears fast for her.
Also, you are so awesome for using cloth at night!! I am still too weak and use disposables at night. although i do use the 100% biodegradable ones so i feel a little less guilty! ahh mother guilt nothing quite like it!
Anyway, i gotta dash! loads to do before i head up to brisvague for a family visit tomorrow. i'll be outta touch until the beginning of next week.
good luck guys!
-
god nightmare night here last night!! Asha woke at 3am and did not go back to sleep till 4!! then was up at 5 6 and 7 eeek i couldnt get her back to sleep till 10 after that and she let me sleep for 2 hours eeek idk whats wrong with her if its teething or thrush or what.. shes not even hungry.. shes had her 7am bottle she didnt have breakfast and its now 12 and shes not winging for anything i think her mouth must really be bothering her..
gracie - ohhh no lol rory on big brother is such a derogatory b@stard!!!! lol ohhh well i watch too much tv!! its the same here atm with the mess.. my dad and his g/f have a fire and because we are at the back of the house they are always carying wood through here, no wonder i cant keep it clean!!
arte - sorry your still having troubles with the house renos hope it all works out for the best in the end.
leanne - maybe i will make roast chicken tmw night lol (pay day) sounds yummy and asha might like it too!!
sherie - ive never seen weleeda teething powder.. let us know how it goes!! yeah the pea pods are great! i would still like to try a few others lol though i kinda feel like if uve got a good thing stick to it? lol see how i go.. we are doing 100% cloth now terry flats at home and pea pods out (so i am desperate to get some more asap only having two lol) but i only do an extra load of washing every 2-3 days and that covers it.. in saying that though i only have 3 people to wash for and there are piles of it everywhere haha..
cally - hope katie starts drinking again soon.. ashas been off her bottles lately too but i think thats a combination of thrush and teething.. is K teething?
katie - dont feel bad good to see you checking in hehe
-
Gracie, get a Dyson. We got ours when I was pregnant because I could imagine bub being covered in dog hair constantly. It does a great job. I even used it at mums and she had 8 inside dogs (7 border collies and one g shep) and it got all of that hair off the floor.
-
noni- sorry to hear about your wakeful night. oh i didn't know rory was a pig! i haven't been watching bb consistently. i just thought he was ok to look at lol, what has he done?
arte- right, that's it, i'm sold! 8 dogs inside, that's crazy!!! i put a bid on a dyson on ebay but got outbid. i have to try to convince dp that's it's worth the money. i hate not earning my 'own' wage anymore iykwim??
clare- have a great time in brisvegas. what type of dog is stella??
-
gracie - he makes really derogatory comments to and about women and is just one of those aussie bogan men that u can imagine at bdo with a beer in each hand dancing round in a circle that no one will go near because he yells out stupid crap every 5 minutes hahaha maybe thats a but harsh lol but i really dont like him...
-
I have a feeling that rory is really trying hard to play the game. at friday night games 2 weeks ago (i think) he was really offensive when choosing his team as he was seriously desperate to win. one to watch no doubt!
Gracie: Stella is a lab x. we think that she has marremma (italian sheepdog) as that will account for the ginormous size...
good luck with the dyson convincing! i recommend shopping around as we ended up bargaining with the guys we bought it from! LOL! i normally am not like that, but at $900 a pop, i was willing to give it a go!! And totally understand about not earning your own wage. even though they say what's mine is ours and so on it just doesnt feel that way as though you are not earning it and therefore, dont have final say iykwim?
-
oh and i forgot to mention that i worked out (i think) how to post piccies... so there are some in the member galleries...although the links on our threads dont appear to work anymore...
-
noni-ha ha LOL i know EXACTLY the type you are talking about lmao. i've seen them at the BDO myself!! in fact, i think dp is friends with a couple of them! usually they have an aussie flag hanging on their back.
i didn't realise rory was that bad, i've gone off him now!
is anyone watching the 'pregnant man' on oprah right now? as you can probably guess, i'm having the laziest day ever today, can't be bothered moving off the couch lmao
clare- my friend has a labxmareema, she's gorgeous, but huge! she looks like a giant version of my dog. yes i will definitely shop around, i'm thinking of starting at the 'good guys' as there's one just down the road.
yes i agree, what's mine is yours etc. but the thing is, i used to 'sneaky buy' heaps of things and get away with it when i had my 'own' money, but now i have to ask for everything. it's just weird after earning my own money since i was 15yo iykwim?
-
ahahahahahahahaha yes thats right lol. oh poor you having dp friends with them lol.. i have seen thinga bout that pregnant man he was a woman before wasnt he?
asha is so tored but she wont sleep lol idk what shes doing maybe the hunger has caught up with her might try feeding her lol
-
Hi Girls,
Well I survived shopping with 3 kids, I didnt have to get much so that was a blessing.
Art- Not sure what we will do with them. I was going to keep them so that maybe one day I could use the stemcells for one of the kids if they needed them. (sorry to offend any one as I know that using embro stemcells is a very touchy subject. I just figure that I have done all the hard work to get them and think that may be one day they might just help save one of my babies from having a terrible disease. Any way I just can not let them go yet. Sorry for the TMI.
-
Sherie, my chicken secret is I buy drumsticks and season and roast them and it's cheaper than a whole roast chook but tastes just as yummy (and they cook quicker too). LOL My DH has a mean honey soy ginger variation on the theme that is rooollly Yarmy too (*licks lips*)! I was just reading about the teething powder yesterday in Super nanny's book (it was the only useful thing in it, the rest is total cr@p LOL). Where did you buy it? I hope you make it out from under that mountain of washing!
Katie - good to hear from you hun! Don't ever feel guilty about the thread, there aren't enough hours in the day to waste any on feeling bad. xxx Playgroup sounds excellent. We're about to start going to one they have on Fridays in the park.
Leanne, don't mind me about the sleep thing. I was only whingeing. I just wish you could bank sleep, so you could sleep extra when you can and still not feel tired when you're missing out. Is your DH worried about the snip at all (it totally freaks some guys out LOL).
Noni, I hope A's feeding improves for you know you're on the daktarin. You might have to watch her bum for a spotty red rash too, if she gets that you can use some canesten on the bum end (often it goes right through them). All the food we're introducing is going really well, thanks for asking. H had rotten eczema from early on and still gets contact dermatitis. My sis's kids all ended up with asthma so we're playing it safe. It's really only about 9 mths worth of being careful with what you give and I figure that's worth it in the long run.
Cally I guess I'll be seeing you soon ;)! Can't wait to meet little Katie too.
Arte, what's happening with the whole plunket thing? Is there another clinic or a private service you might be able to access. Getting up that often is just horrendous...hope you've organised your DH to give you some catch up sleep times!
-
eta- part 2
Arte, the bath duck doesn't have any straps and functions like a seat, but you might find he enjoys sitting in it, plus there's really nothing to pull up on, KWIM? You could try one, and if it's a disaster after a week or so, then just on-sell on eBay!
Gracie, I have Total Dyson Envy (TDE). Might have to ask DH to buy me one with his big trip money! LOL at how we all think how romantic it would be to have the roaring fire but really it's a lot of mess and work! BTW our move is sort of definite after we saw DH's boss on the w/e and he congratulated DH. We have told my family (it was my dad's birthday) and they are all stoked! Rory is cute but I agree with Noni, totally selfcentred. Nathan is much nicer and mmmmmmm too!
Clare, further to my TDE (see above), did you have to buy special pet hair attachments or do they come standard?
ETA - Where are you PREGPAN? Is Noah ok? We haven't heard from you and I'm worried. Soo hope he's on the improve. xxx
-
Gracie, with the Dyson wait until the June stocktake sales. We got the last of an older model for $650 from Harvey Norman, they usually have good sales everywhere at that time though.
Leanne, I don't think anyone would begrudge you using your stored embies if they could help save one of your kids if they were really sick (god forbid)
MD, Yay for telling your family, that would have been exciting news for them. I decided not to go to the plunket clinic but will give them a ring to see if they can suggest anything that I haven't tried. DH sometimes lets me sleep in in the weekend, but W is only up for an hour before he has a nap so I don't get long.
Are the other bubs crawling on hands and knees? Will is going on one knee and one foot - he uses the foot to scoot and then the knee just sort of drags and balances him.
-
Art- Thanks
MD- I love the sleep bank... Were do I sign up..lol
Re the Snip- DH is totally ok about. He said its just easier for him then for me to get my tubes tied. Although I am sure that as the time comes around he will probally start to get nervous. lol... But its nothing compared to what I have been though having 3 perfect, beautiful babies. Especially having twins.
Sleeping Vibes going out to all our mummys and bubbies.
Sweet Dreams
-
ughhh my back is absolutely killing me!! we used to change asha on top of a sideboard thing we have but now shes bigger its really hard because its kinda in a corner so weve been changing her on the bed with a portable change mat down and its killer on my back!! we have a change table butthere is literally no where to put it so i just have to suffer :(
-
*Selfish post warning*
So glad I didn't drive two hours to the plunket day clinic. I talked to them on the phone and all they do is show a video of controlled crying. Leave the baby to cry for 20 minutes, go in and cuddle without picking them up and then leave again. The other option is to pat for 5 minutes, leave for 5 min, pat for 4 min, leave for 4 min etc, never mind if the bub is screaming its head off. She told me that it was my fault (I know that it is) and that we were letting him rule the roost and he would only be crying because he wasn't getting his own way. She also told me to cut down on breastfeeds because at 8 months solids are more important.
So I guess I am just stuck waking up every hour. I guess he will grow out of it some time before he goes to school?
-
Morning everyone,
Arte  to you, I think that is terrible advice (no offence to anyone who uses controlled crying). You have not done anything wrong, you should get the plunket nurse to read the science of parenting. Everything I have read or heard says that milk is the most important thing in their diet until they are 12 months old and that food is about fun and exploration at this age. I am sorry I have no advice on how to get Will to sleep I really hope he grows out of it. Please don't doubt yourself as a mummy, you are a fantastic mum and Will is thriving and meeting all his milestones.
Noni can you change Asha on the floor? Or is she like Logan and rolls away lol.
MD that chicken sounds yummo, when are we coming over for dinner???
Gracie I started a thread about the pregnant "man" on here somewhere. I love lazy days on the couch.
I will try and get back on for some more personals later, Logan is demanding that I come and play with him lol. Oh I meant to ask does anyone else's bubs throw tantrums when they are told "no"? Logan has been chucking some great ones, cany wait for terribles twos....NOT! lol.
-
Oh Arte, so even NZ isn't immune from crappy, dodgy MHCN :( Try to put it all out of your head what she is saying and pretend it never happened - you are doing the best thing for Will already.
Marydean, I went to the weleda website and searched their list of stockists and went with the only one who had an online shop - some hippy place in Byron Bay LMAO.
Gosh I can't remember what else was said now and I only just read it all.
Still no tooth, but we only had three wakeups *does the happy dance* so am feeling pretty rested today. He even went to bed at 7.30 last night - a whole hr earlier than normal - not sure if that had something to do with it? Anyway, we still have nasty teething poos and I think he has even lost a little bit of weight from them as they are really big and nasty ones.
And yes, I did get all the washing done too. Today's job is to fold, iron and put it all away.
-
hi everyone
sorry I have been MIA!!!Life has been, as always, extremely hectic... the good news is that N is a lot better, he is pretty much back to normal - I am just being careful what i feed him still but he is back to his happy self. I caught the damn gastro from him so had a few days feeling pretty awful myself... and then yest I had to go to melb for work.. so I have hardly had time to breathe!! Anyway wanted to pop on and let you all know he is ok and so am I. Thanks so muh for all your support last week - I know I was whingeing and worried and you all made me feel a lot better!
I have skimmed the thread - sorry I forget a lot of the personals. But I did want to say I use the weleda teething powder and it is good. One tip - you can mix it and they can drink it but you can also make it into a paste and massage into the gums which i find works even better. that reminds me looks like N is getting tooth no 5, so after we got over the gastro (well after he did) we had 2 nights of screaming from the gum pain!!!
-
Morning Girls,
Pregpan- I am glad N is getting better and I hope you recover soon. Wow Tooth No. 5 coming.
Sherie- Glad you got all your washing done. Bummer on the tooth not though yet.
Katie- Yep Olivia did crack tanties but I just ignore her and now she has stopped. AS for the terrible two's for me it's when they are neally 3. OMG my boys are crazy some days.
ART- Dont worry too much what that women said your a wonderful mummy and are doing the right thing. You are right they will grow out of it.

good morning
arte- i agree with everyone else- that is terrible advice and it is in no way at your fault. you are doing an amazing job and meeting all of will's needs and you will be rewarded for it by a happy, independant and secure child. it is hard now, but like clare said the other day 'this too, shall pass'. i've stopped going to my mchn cos she kept telling me that everything was my fault and that i'm some weird hippy living up in the trees with my baby in my bed. when i need advice i come on here now where i know i'll be supported.
leanne- i don't know how you do it with the twins and olivia. i have a hard enough time looking after lewis and the dog!
sherie- lewis did a 'teething poo' this morning and i thought of you! lmao. it was gross. he hasn't done of those for weeks. do you think it means one's on the way?
pregpan- glad to hear noah is doing so much better. you're such a jetsetter atm. did you find melbourne absolutely freezing? it is sooo cold here atm.
katie- yes we have tantrums here- usually over the car keys. lewis loves to grab them off me when we go somewhere but then refuses to give them back when i need them to drive!
-
here i am again... you can tell i am not v motivated at work atm hey!! Gracie - yep it was COLD in melb yest, though i must say it is colder here... it was -3 when i was on my way to the airport...
also wanted to say the weleda nappy rash cream is also lovely.
are all your bubs crawling? N isnt!!!
-
Pregpan, did you buy the Weleda powder locally? Where do I find it? So glad N is much better, what a relief, crummy that you caught the gastro too though.
Arte - oh you poor thing, keep Will well away from that MACH nurse, wont you?! That sounds like a really extreme way of doing Controlled crying. The way they teach it here is you settle first 2-10 mins (in their bed) then you go out for 2 mins, then come back and settle, then out for 4 mins, etc, gradually inching up to 10 mins (or less if that's all you can handle). They say to persist for 45 mins then abandon if it's not working. Cally was taught an even milder way of controlled comforting, which meant that K was never left to get distressed. If W is feeding frequently over night, you could try offering him some extra feeds in the day time, and then at night time send DH in to settle him with a drink (rice milk is sweet like BM). Not necessarily all night (you can still give a late feed around 10-11 and then feed again 5-6 am) but at least then you'd be getting a decent stretch of 5-6 hours. We did this with DD1 when she was about 11 mths old because she went from being settled most of the night to getting up four or more times, and it worked in about 10 days. If she got distressed at any time or didn't settle after about half an hour of cuddling/rocking, DH would bring her in for a 'real feed'. It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job of caring for W, I'm just worried about how well you are coping and whether you need any more strategies to look after yourself. xxx Have you read "The no cry sleep solution" by Elizabeth Pantley? She has some suggestions which you can follow gently and over an extended time which might help.
I don't know what to think about teething any more. It's been "on" for months here. She started with the gallons of spit again yesterday afternoon, but I'm having trouble working out which teeth might be coming thru. Does anyone else's bub have lumps where the canines will come thru? Does that mean that's the next teeth she'll get? I'm confused, DD1 obeyed all the 'rules' and cut teeth in the correct order with a minimum of fuss (3-4 days of grizzling for each tooth). She also slept when she was supposed LOL but since then has been a contrary Mary in every way.
Katie, you tell me when you're coming and I'll break out the drumsticks LOL. Yep Bettybubs cracks it big time when she's eating anything and thinks you've taken it away (like if she drops her rusk, or loses her spoon, she thinks it's gone and screams and thrashes) LOL. The FDC lady said yesterday "Well she sure has a set of lungs on her" PMSL! DD1 could scream like that and I am not looking forwards to the triple-header tantrums we used to get.
Gracie, yep that's right you're a foxtel watching net surfing hippy LMAO. I'm surprised those MACH nurses don't get slapped by mothers on a regular basis.
Sherie, it must've been a good night for it, E only got up TWICE! I actually got up in the middle of the night and went looking for her I was so unaccustomed to sleeping!

md i bought it at rose organics in bungendore. i did get the ladies card she said she is often in canberra so can drop stuff up or can post it to you - pm me if you want her details. she has all the weleda stuff (and lots of other nice things). i was wondering if the health food shop at griffith might stock it too? will look next time i am there (though i guess that isnt so close to you, you are in tugg yeah). i think N may be getting a canine. woof woof here too LOL!
-
Marydean, here is a list of the canberra stockists of weleda products Weleda Australia - Stockists: A.C.T. are any of those close to you?
Pregpan, great to hear that Noah is well again, it seems like it will never end somedays. Bummer about you getting it too.
Gracie, LOL at him not giving you the keys.
Have been super efficient this morning and have several different preserves for Alister on the go - have apple and mixed berries, plain apple and carrot, pumpkin & apple. Just waiting for the jars to sterilise before I bottle it and then put it in a boiling water bath to seal them. I am just going to do 4 jars to see if it works - don't want to do a whole batch and have the jars not seal again (heinz baby food jars) If it doesn't work I will just freeze it all.

Thanks guys
MD, I will have a look at that book, it isn't that bad I guess and it won't last forever
Clare, I also have two baby teeth still. They are the first molars, but I have no adult teeth under them. Apparently one day they will get wriggly and fall out. The dentist said they can do something called bridging, not sure what it is but it sounds expensive. They are horrible, filled with fillings and always get new holes because they aren't made to be used for this long lol. At least I have no wisdom teeth though.
Noni, is Asha feeding more now that she has the thrush treated? I change W on the couch most of the time now, I just lay him longways and sit by his feet to save bending over. You could also change her from kneeling (I am assuming it is the bending that is hurting your back?)
Pregpan, glad N is feeling better. Is your DH back yet? W only started crawling last week, I don't even think it is a real crawl, he uses one foot and then drags the knee. Don't worry about it, W never rolled on the floor or commando crawled, they all do things at such different paces.
Katie, W has started having little tanties if I take things off him. He always wants to go outside and has started crying when we come back inside.
Sherie, teething poos don't sound very nice, luckily W didn't do anything scary when he got his teeth.
Playcenter today, it is really good to get out of the house (for both of us).

My friends baby is 32weeks prem. He is out of the hossy now. He was born about a month ago but we couldnt visit them earlier because first W was sick, then DH and I were sick too. Shaun (the baby) is such a cutie, he has an olive coloured skin.
Just got confirmation that our insurance will cover everything, what a relief! And they might pay for a new carseat too.
The other day I gave W a new toy to play with, a car softoy (from that movie CARS) and he absolutely loves it, he giggled the first time he saw it. What is it with men and cars! even as a baby they know their stuffs lol
MD, I agree everything tastes better if it has more junk in it, like fat sugar caffeine cream! LOL at TDE (plus the 'see above' instruction).
W is also teething again, I think the last bottom incisor is appearing (now he has 4 at the top and 3 at the bottom). I've seen some lumps on the molars area for months now but idk if its a real teething sign.
Arte, hus to you! I think you definitely need to have some rest and me-time for your self. It will give you more energy, plus a well rested mum makes for a happy baby. Would you mum be able to take care of W for a little while? I was really exhausted before and when my W started to adjust in daycare I felt a bit better in terms of having sometime for myself (though the guilt is still there). On sleeping, I think you've done the right thing in following your instinct, lots of books and research have long supported attachment parenting. i hope the night waking is just a phase and it will soon pass.
Noni, for oral thrush make sure you are using daktarin oral gel (not just the usual daktarin). Actually taking probiotics can help too. But idk if babies at Asha's age can take probiotics, though if i'm not mistaken bellybelly sells probiotic that can be used for babies. Hope it clears up soon!
Katie, so nice to hear from you. Ikwym, our babies sure know how to express their feelings now dont they
Cally, hope you are enjoying the times at your parents and K is drinking well again.
Sherie, you make me want to buy the weleda powder now lol. Hhmm your preserves sounds yummy and healthy.
Leanne, you must feel really blessed with three wonderful babies. From what I've heard, IVF process can be really stressful.
Gracie, I've been thinking about buying dyson for quite sometime, wasnt exactly sure because of the price. Now reading all the posts here really makes me want to buy it soon LOL
Clare, have fun at the family visit
Prepan, so glad N is better. Its just not fun, isnt it being sick but need to take care of a sick baby. Hope you are ok now.

Oh Art Honey. I am so sorry to hear you are having a rough time ATM. Does W have a blanket or spew rag to hug when he is going to sleep? I know that I had problems with my boys putting them to bed in there cots as I use to rock them to sleep straight after a bottle. Of course it became a joke trying to do it with 2 of them so the day come when we said right thats enough and then it was bottle, play shower then we just put them in there cots. At first it was really hard cause they cried and I just kept going in every couple of minutes to pat them and put the dummy back in and then eventually they went to slept. We just kept doing it night after night and then finally after what seemed like a life time (was actually a week) they just went to bed. They sort of got use to the routine. And to this day I still do Dinner, Play (for about 15 to 1/2 hr) then shower then bed. I also do the same routine with Olivia. Oh re the spew rag to hug ,when all this was going on I left it with him one night and he just put it near his face and went to sleep. He stopped using it about 1 1/2 years old and now thats how Olivia goes to sleep she hugs it and puts it on her face and when she is asleep I go in and take it off her. Sorry for the TMI just thought I would share my story as it may help you.
