Well turns out M has bronchiolitis again! Just not so bad this time. I feel like a terrible mum because she has been coughing for weeks and I dismissed it thinking it would clear up soon enough. Actually maybe its more I feel like a paranoid mum running to the doctor every week lol. Anyway I have been trying to make myself feel better about it by telling myself that its only worsened in the last 5 days or so, which it has but still...mean mummy or what!? She's on antibiotics now. Just so sick of M being sick all the time, it really really sucks. I am so worried about whether or not she will be fine when we take off o/seas.
RF - Lol yes my DP often says the word that rhymes with duck, especially after being at work with the lads. He is constantly getting in trouble from me hehe. 6 weeks oh no maybe you should go to the doctor too? Poor Lewis thats a long time for having a cold. Maya is beautiful. My friend has a DD called Jamaya. Essay was on interpersonal skills, what a load of rubbish, I seriously dribbled on about nothing much lol. How am I going to get through 4 years of this, how did you do it!? Oh and I am hanging out for an engagement ring too lol.
Kate - We practically feed to sleep at night time too. Whoops. Oh well you do what you have to do. They will grow out of it soon enough. As for telling DP to have a word in his parents ears, no go, he wont do it, so its left up to me and I dont want to be seen as the horrible DIL.
Arte - LMAO at Will and the tampons, thats too funny. Congrats on the talking!
Leemar - So jealous of your hotel get away! Must have been fabulous.
MM - I've got to ask whether you WW's book has any duck cakes in it? Sorry to hear M is sick again, please don't blame yourself. I played that game after I found out E has the UTI but stopped playing when I realised it was only wearing me down. Next time I will know the signs to look out for.
RF - LOL @ word that rhymes with duck! I was sure before I was pg that if I had another girl she would be a Maia, but in the end it just didn't 'fit' the energy of the child. Do you say May-ah or My-ah?
Arte - whohoo for duck! Clever boy. How entertaining. I'm getting some sounds consistently from E but none of them are recognisable to anyone but me LOL. She says "Ello" all the time now, very sociably, LOL, and "deddy" whenever she sees one of her soft toys (which is weird cos we dont call any of them teddy) and "dohdoh" when she sees the dog/cat/picture of dog/cat.
Cally, E loves her duckies too and says duh-duh in the bath, which is a big inflatable yellow duck tub, which quacks when you press its beak! LOL We're having a bit of a ducky theme for her birthday party (bit unoriginal, I know).
ETA - I bought a back-up bunny today, as E is getting quite attached to the little on she holds when she is going to sleep. Not sure if I should start rotating other toys through so she doesn't fixate on one or if it's better to just let her have this one?

md- i'm no expert, but in the 'no cry sleep solution' she talks about them having one toy to hold (a lovey) and that's fine, as long as it's one that is easily replaced if it gets lost/broken. so your one sounds fine.
i would pronounce maya as may-a. it's off the list now though anyway. dp is soooo hard to please. he has totally dismissed my favourite name as being 'try-hard' and 'the worst name ever'...so i'm back to square one. i'm also not allowed to have a name that is a flower or a colour or sounds like it could belong to a dog.
hayley- idk how the hell i got through it. i did double- primary and secondary. it was so useless and irrelevant. i just loved teaching rounds when you actually got a real taste for it. we used to hate the way how at uni you used to have to write the most long, detailed, stupid lesson plans for everything! in 5 years of teaching, i never wrote a single lesson plan- just jotted down notes in my planner everyday. my uni course was a total waste of time- i think it's one of the reasons why so many first-year teachers drop out. they are completely ill-prepared from their degree. don't lose hope though! you'll be in the classroom soon and then it's your little world and you can do whatever you want.
now i forgot to tell you all yesterday that lewis is definitely on the front cover of the next spotlight catalogue. it should be in the sunday papers in the next couple of weeks. it's the fathers day one and he's on the front with a fake mum and dad (it's definitely not me and dp, the mum is blonde and skinny and tall lol)
i feel for all the mums with bubs sleeping....am with you there. can't wait to move her to her own room so i don't hear every wake up. but then, the monitor will be on so....who knows.
teething gel.....max doesn't like bonjela either. friend recommended sm33. apparently better and more likeable. have some but haven't tried it on max yet.
feed to sleep....we don't do that but then, we still rock to sleep....which i'm worrying about how to "wean" her off. we've started (just the other day) putting her in bed screaming at night and then she'll go to sleep (that'll be after about 10 mins of loud cries) but because she doesn't give sleepy signs during the day, i can't do that. will probalby try it soon though. she has a 30 min nap in her cot around 10am-12nn and then a longer one of 1-2 hours around 2-4pm...this is longer coz' i nurse her. am weaning her from the nursing but have been lying in bed with her. will see how she'll do with sleeping on her own in a few weeks. slowly getting there.
hmmm....guess not as short.
arte, congrats on first word. i think max's will be something like that too coz' she loves to go "ka ka"....this is from "talking" to the crows when we're on the deck. said "kak" the other day when i was showing her the clock.
leeann, happy anniversary.
oh, and max is into pointing to things she wants. (like her water bottle).....i'm really happy with this new "communication" with her....just worried that she might rely on pointing too much and not learn how to say the words coz' she gets what she wants from pointing. any views?
hey everyone just a quick one coz i am getting lunch ready..
how much do bubs eat now? i know i ask this all the time but asha really eats alot of food! sometimes more than myself or dp.. should i be worried about it? will a baby of her age over eat? for example yesterday for breakfast she had rockmellon a piece of toast and a cheese stick then morning tea she had a sweet bun because someone came to visit and brought them lunch she had spagetti oopsthen some of my noodles in the afternoon probably around 2 awroot biscuits and dinner she had chicken and vegie fingers (3) and peas and corn and then when we were having our dinner she was still trying to steal things from our plate.. do you think she is overeating? some days she will eat even more than this and she is still having 3 bottles.. what do you guys think shes quite a big girl and i am worried i am over feeding her?
hi noni! max has 1 weetbix with about 4 tsps of puree fruit for breakfast, about 3/4 of those big jars of baby food during lunch and dinner (that's approx. since it's usually home food rather than jar), maybe an inch or so of banana, couple of rice crackers or arrowroot bikkies, 2x200ml and 1x250 ml bottle a day. oh, there'd be some more snacking in between....like, if we were having steak or something, she'll have a strip or 2 to gnaw on....eat maybe 1 strip worth.
but then, another friend's bub who's prob 2weeks older eats a whole big jar at lunch/dinner and has almost half banana, other fruits, other finger foods like boiled/steamed vegies, and a whole lot more. he's more than 10K. bday on the 26th of sep....so 10 1/2 mos?
Marydean, the original WW book does have a duck in it - really cute one too. But 'tis a doosy to make LOL - its a 3D one. I can scan it and email to you if you didn't have the book yourself. Re the comforter, I'm not keen on Alister developing any attachments as Paige still has her blankie and I reckon at this rate I'll be stitching the bloody thing into her wedding dress LMAO. But ever since sleeping with my nighty he has taken to carting it around the house and look out if you try to take it off him. So now I hide it so he can't find it.
Fianne, when she points to something, just keep saying what it is called like "here's your drink/toy/whatever" and use words with her all the time.
AFM. Alisters Big Thing now is to go outside. He will go and get one of his gumboots (they are so cute LOL - used to be Paiges but she was nearly 2yo when she wore them) and stand at the back door. I can see summer being a pain in the neck as our backdoor is open all the time, and the screen door comes open really easy and there isn't a latch on it as such. Me thinks I might have to invest in one though or otherwise he will be escaping all the time. He is all well again though.
G that's great news about L being on the front cover. Will it be national or just VIC? I will have to go to spotlight when I am in wagga next and grab one.
hi ladies! does anyone have any suggestion on having nappy free time now that max is mobile without leaving having a mess?
max has got this extremely bad nappy rash (again). the pain she's in just breaks my heart everytime i change her. makes me want to cry. i want to take her pain.
trillian, A sounds so cute. must be so good for the kids to have a big backyard to play in.
btw, on risotto, have you ladies tried baked risotto? really quite good and no standing in front of the stove for half an hour or so stirring continuously. it's just rice and stock in ovenproof dish covered tightly with al foil. pop it in the oven. take it out, add stuff (recipe i was using had prawns). pop it back in. take it out and add the "other stuff" (artichokes, parmesan cheese, butter, lemon zest). and voila! got it from donna hay magazine. if anyone wants the actual measurements (ingredients) and stuff, let me know and i'll send it on.
oops! sorry for double post. don't know how to delete. ;(
