Hey everyone,
awww, poor Will, being torments by a darn dog...haha...Chessa has a similar sit..she has one of those litttle yellow toys that u hit and it laughs...or more like cackles and she hates it, she starts to cry if she hears it. poor thing.
Congrats for L sleeping better, I hope he keeps it up!
Rainy, What's your due date? I'm so excited for u! I wish i was pregnant at the moment...My sis is going for her 20 week ultrasound today:) i'm hoping she has a girl...She's been extremely ill, so i think she will have a lil girl in there. poor thing, what DH is doing, we were complete opposite...I didnt feel right DTD whilst preg, especially when i found out C was breech :S Have u told him how u feel? My BF tried to pull the "i'm going to sleep in the spare room coz i dont get enough sleep..." I told him, too bad...if u're in it, u're in it completely, not half heartedly...mind u, he was staying til midnight on his own accord, so i didn't reaallly...have much sympathy for him. However, if it was coz of C and me, i would've had more sympathy...
Arte...having a dumb blonde moment, wats FB? no, i didn't get to breastfeed, was doing yr 12 exams, got too stressed out and consequensly lost my milk and it only came back in one side...so erm...i didnt feel comfortable walking around with one massive boob and one little one...:| I have fallen preg by accident once but it didnt work out, but now that we're actually trying it isnt happening :( life is nvr fair...
better go, Chessa just woke up:) had a good sleep in!
-
Cinta, FB = Facebook...?!
Wow at you doing your year 12 exams...far out!! That's amazing, good on you. How did you go with them?
-
morning all
hope everyone is having a good day. Cinta well done on the exams, that musthave been hardwith the nb, how did you go?
I hope MM is having a wonderful time in Malaysia - cant wait to hear all about it!
Cally - sounds like you are getting really organised to go back to work, it will be a huge adjustment I am sure, especially back full time. I find my life is in disarray a lot of the timeLOL but I also have the added complication of travelling tomelb all the time etc etc. I have neverhad to do so much organising etc but it is worth it -I kinda like getting on with it all IYKWIM. It is so great that your mum and then DH can look after K for a few weeks, that will help you both to get used to it and then shecan settle into daycare. will you take her for a few 1/2 days 1st? it is also great you are starting at the end of winter, hopefully she wont pick up too many colds etc. it sounds like you are a a really organised person anyway soi am sure the transition will be as smooth as possible! enjoy your last week as a SAHM (until next time if there is one!!)
Clare - i think maybe you wree in the one earlier than me, i tried toget into it but i called the day it started and it was full! mine was only 5 of us by the end! a friend was in yours i think, her nameis Amy?? do you know her? that would be bizarre!! put some pics of the pimped BB up PLEASE!!! what a crack up with the lights!! LOVE IT!! i have the sunshade and breezy canopy from last yr, they were great for summer. I am hopingN will still go in the pram a bit this summer, he is a bit anti these days so it makes my long walks a bit tricky!
well girls i need to go ona diet - i feel revolting and worse than ever - thinki have let myself go!!! it isnt like i can say i ama new mum anymore LOL!!! so it begins (better get happier about the bodbefore I get UTD again!)
Rainy - my bet is team PINK!!
-
Pregpan - K is going to go in with DH for a few visits before she starts. I'm plannning on having a couple of Wednesday's off in her first few weeks so she does 2 on, 1 home, 2 on. Hopefully will also make it a bit easier for me. Need to have a talk with DH before I go back to work about breaking up the chores around the house. He's had a pretty easy year with me doing almost everything!
Cinta - well done on doing Year 12 exams with a little one!
We have clinic visit this afternoon. Have a huge list of questions.
-
Cally that sounds great - I think there is always quite a period of adjustment for the little ones and for us mums... but in 4 months time she will be happy and so will you I hope... well hopefullyin less time but i think 3-4 months is a reasonable time to expect esp with full time work etc. def chat to DH re chores, a realignment will need to happen - i know for the forst few weeks i was running around like supermum and then it all fell apart and we had to really look at how we manage it all. do you have a cleaner? i find that a HUGE help every week and well worth the money, i find i have NO spare time, life is so hectic and the last thing i want to do is chores!
Hope clinic goes well, you will have to tell us what you find out.
-
Just a short selfish one from me because I had a few days with not posting and can't keep up again LMAO.
MD and Cally, great to hear that the parties went off without a hitch.
Pregpan, that's unfortunate that you had to cancel N's party. I'm sure he would have had a great time being spoilt by the family though.
G, My money is on a little pink one (simply because I know that's what you'd like LOL) but I am going to go against the flow and say I don't want to know - I want a big surprise :)
Cinta, Good on you for finishing school hun - it can't have been easy for you. Fingers crossed the BFP fairy pays you a visit very soon.
On the home front - We have another tooth! this one took us completely by surprise with none of the usual teething symptoms - not even a poo LMAO - it was only when I was checking out yet another cut lip from a tumble that I saw it. It's another bottom one, so that's 7 altogether now. I was only just saying the other day that we must be due for another.
DH's tax is finished and I have my top-up FAO payment due on thursday and it's all gone already LOL and I haven't even got it in the bank yet, but I'm buying a new stove/oven with it, which I can't wait to get. Trouble is ,we'll get it and then I'll have to wait who knows how long to have it wired in.
Not much else happening. Have had some pretty ordinary, yet typical september weather so we haven't done a lot. I have my list all sorted for all the cleaning I need to do next week before his party and I'm sooo not looking forward to it LMAO.
ETA - I just realised it wasn't so short after all LMAO
-
The other day I got a short video on my camera of Alister on the slide and put it on youtube here YouTube - Little Dude on the slide
-
Trill, that is adorable!!
-
Trillian that is soooo cute!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHESSA!! HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!:happybirthday:
-
happy birthday chessa
sherie- very cute
cinta- my due date is 25th feb. very exciting
cally- good luck with returning to work. are you looking forward to it?
well yesterday lewis and i met up with ange and luella for lunch and it was lovely. lu is so cute and i think lewis and lu are going to fall in love and get married :)
-
Happy Birthday Chessa! I hope you have a great day with you Mummy and Daddy!
And Happy Birthday to Miss Sam. Have a gorgeous day sweetie!
-
Awwww at Lu and Lewis LOL. That's really sweet.
-
Happy Birthday Chessa and Sam!!
Pregpan - there are times I am looking forward to work (while trying to change a pooey nappy with a screaming toddler who is trying to put her hands in it while rolling off the table) and other times I'm not so sure. Can only wait and see. DH doesn't want to pay for a housecleaner when he can do it so that isn't on the cards at the moment. I am going to be insistent on clean floors each week though and that they aren't done late on a Sunday afternoon - I want them clean for the weekend. We had a bit of a chat about it all last night and will do more.
Clinic was good - her weight has dropped down to about 25% rather than 50%, but I'm not worried, I think it is probably because she is so active. She certainly eats enough (this morning one weetbix, half banana, whole pear!). I asked why they are encouraged to use a straw cup as I didn't really get the point and apparently it is more that they encourage moving on from the sippy cups with valves. Something to do with learning to drink rather than sucking. I mentioned that I thought she would have more words than she does and the nurse gave me a developmental survey and booked us in to discuss in a fortnight. I'm not really worried, it's just that she walks, eats well, sleeps OK, I've got to worry about something!! Also, she ticked that we have risk factors for teeth - but didn't tell me what it was, a bit annoyed about that, no point ticking that we have a risk if you don't try and remove the risk.
Rainy & Ange - glad you had a good little meet up.
Trill - lovely video
-
Cally, I have no idea what it's like to be in your shoes about returning to work and all, but I imagine it would feel like you're being torn in two about it. Can you see your work becomming flexible over the years to be more accomodating for you with K so you don't work fulltime anymore? I don't see how sucking through a sippy cup is any different than a straw cup - they have to suck on both of them to get them to work. My older three had sippy cups and they can drink properly LOL. I wonder what she meant by the teeth though? I'm not expecting A to break any records at his check next week either. He's lean as a whip but eats like a horse. He has his father's metabolism LOL.
-
Happy Birthday Chessa And Sam!!
-
HAppy birthday Chessa and Sam.
Cally- That seems odd that the nurse identified a risk factor but wont tell you what it is...... Like you say, how on earth are you meant to rectify the issue if you don't know what it is. I wonder why she wouldn't tell you.
I 'think' the sucking action for a sippy cup with valve is more like a BF'ing suck where the tounge is involved. In contrast the straw is a different sucking action, without the tounge. Not that i can see what difference it makes to their ability to drink later though..... :dunno: Lu has both.
Lewis and Lu were very cute, playing peek-a-boo with each other. Definately flirting i think! lol
-
Happy birthday to Sam and Chessa :happybirthday:. Also happy birthday to JG's Hamish in case JG pops in! Hope you are having a lovely day!
Well I'm a bit flat right now. Over the hump of DH's trip but I'm so completely and utterly over it now. *BLAH* I think it's because the birthday excitement has died down and I need to plan some things to 'look forward to' other than DH's return. Bit lacking in inspiration right now though. I'm not sure you can get clinically depressed from eating too much left over birthday cake but that's the other theory I'm working on.
Cally, the whole MACH visit sounds somewhat bizarre. I too am wondering what the deal is with the teeth! And the sippy cup. Oh it sounds to me like the MACH nurse just wanted to feel like an expert by telling you stuff.
Rainy and Ange, WTG on the IRL meet up! Well done ladies. Jealous I couldn't be there!
Trill thanks for sharing the vid! Awesome slippery dip skills your gorgeous boy has! :D
-
Happy Birthday Hamish!!
Marydean, I don't know what to suggest that you do while you wait for him to come home. Is there anything you can do each week with the girls that would be 1 something to look forward to each week and 2 once to get to the day where you have something planned, that's another week down kwim?
-
Yeah just got to get my planning hat on, Trill. TBH I'm also a bit daunted by school hols coming too as both FDC ladies have told me they are full and so no kid-free time. I have always needed 'me-time' so it's like breathing through only one lung when I don't get it. I run out of energy and patience.
I know it sounds so self-indulgent, but it's the nature of the beastie and something I normally organise our lives around.
-
Oh MD, i can only imagine how daunting that must be...how many weeks to go now til Dh gets home? Did you ever reinstate chinese soup night? must be harder with E but you and H seemed to really enjoy that last yr when he was away. if you couldnt do it evenings maybe you could do it for sat lunch or something like that.... i have also just come back from taking N to questacon, that is something you could do each week with both girls? N loves it and I imagine E being more mobile would love it even more... just a thought. wrt 'me' time - do any of your friends have kids the same age (or maybe some of the mums at H's school) - maybe you could do a kid swap for 1/2 a day a week or something in school hols? sorry if none of these ideas are good ones, i dont have a big kid to think about... also i remember growing up i used to go to some great school holiday programs - could H do this for 1 week?
-
Totally NOT self indulgent hun. I feel like snapping from time to time and I have a husband here to take over when I need it. I would be going mental too if I did it for as long as you without a break. Is there any other way you can get occasional care or emergency care? Or can you even get a nanny or babysitter for a day for both girls while you did something for you?
-
Happy Birthday Chessa!!!
Sherie: how awesome is he on the slide! i love that he looks back to see how he did it! too cute!
MD: sooooo NOT self-indulgent sista!!! oh man, i only have to do without for 3 days and i start counting the frikkin' minutes til he returns. we all need special us time, otherwise we lose track of ourselves and what we are doing, and this can really tire us out when doing just the everyday.
What about a holiday camp program for H? I know that means that you still have E around, but while she naps you could have long hot soaks in a bath? I just wish i lived there as we could swapsies! although all i really remember of being a 10 year old is a hard-core passion for all things horses....so would probably bore H silly!! (or embarrass myself silly!).
if there is nothing that can be done, force yourself to take time out. after the girls have gone to bed, turn the tv off, stop housework, grab something yummy to eat and run a bath (humbug to water restrictions!). bring in a good book and add hot water as you need. i do this when i just need to force myself to relax. works wonders and i was reading the other day that the change in body temp from gettting out of the bath actually creates a better nights sleep....big big !
Cally: sounds like the usual MACH visit to me! (oh i sound so bitter!). they do tend to leave us guessing more than providing useful info. i wouldnt worry too much. she is probably hung up on the sippy cup thing...which is totally bizarre! my MACH nurse here the other day told me to keep using it for L's milk....
good luck with the return to work. i agree with PP that once you have started it will get better, as the anxiety about thinking about it will finally be over and you can get on with your new routine IYKWIM?
i def agree that you could keep on your goals or progress reports some flexibility with work hours. especially if that's what you would like. they may not be able to do this right now for you, but maybe further down the track...
-
MD will pm you, my cousin in canberra is looking for some babysitting work evenings and some days - she is around at uni for the next few months...maybe that would give you a few hours free in the school hols.
cally - how confusing re the mchn - i havent been since he was 4 months as it always made me feel confused or bad.... i am sure if i went now they would be up in arms that he isnt moving much - so i am not going LOL!!! N never grasped use of sippy cup but uses straw cup now (only since bali). seriously, do you know any adults who cant drink from a cup - they will all get there...
-
Ello all,
Thanks heaps:clap:
Chessa's walking now!! It all happens too quickly, it's so amazing! We got to catch up with alot of family today, it was good I guess....considering the circumstances...
Anyone else have bad family history?
We had my DP pop's funeral today...sad.
Oh, I have good news:) well...for us lol...sry, have to boast...Facebook is good for something!! I managed to find DP's long lost lil sister!! creepy...still looking for his other sister now...anyone happen to know an Sarah Saebar, lives in Bris...works at a vet apparently.
I hope everyone is well!!! catch up with u all later.
-
Happy Birthday Alister
I will try to get on and post later, was sick the other day now W seems to have it. Was up half the night cleaning puke (downside to co-sleeping - when they spew at night it is in your bed and all over you!)
ETA: Happy birthday also to Liddle Pixie's Scarlett
MD, I really wish there was something I could do to help you. IKWYM about me time, I made W have a nap yesterday arvo when he could have done without, but I really needed a break. The house was a mess and I can't get anything done with my little shadow 'helping'
Cinta, sorry about your DP's grandpop. Congrats on the walking, it does happen so quickly doesn't it.
Cally, that is odd that the MCN didn't tell you what the teeth problem was. Sounds like she made too much of a deal about sippy cups too, like PP said I haven't heard of an adult who can't drink from a cup.
Rainy and Ange, yay for your meet-up.
Ange, are you thinking boy or girl? Are you finding out? I am going to say pink for you too.
Well, William is smart and cute but the boy has NO rhythm! We have been trying to teach him to dance (read DH and I looking like idiots lol), the best he can muster is to flap his arms wildly or thrust his pelvis forward lol He even sabotaged music class yesterday, the lady had dropped the cd player and it wouldn't skip songs and then W pulled the plug out half way through so we had to listen to all the same songs again. I have seen little bubs bopping to the beat but he doesn't seem that interested in music or dancing.

-
Happy birthday Alister!
Arte- I'm keeping the surprise until the end! Not that pushing a baby out your vag1na isn't a big enough surprise!! but i know i'd tell everyone and then there is no surprise for them at the end! ;) And i'm really not fussed either way. A sister for Lu would be cool, and a boy would be great too.
MD- how much longer till DH returns? I feel for you, especially with the school holidays coming up. A holiday program like someone else suggested is a great idea, and good ones around?
Cinta- DH's fam history is so bad i would never go into it. But i have come to realise that no-one has a perfect family, there is always some sort of drama. And mine is not without issues either. WOW about finding a long lost sister. Didn't need that show on TV at the moment or anything! Speaking of Family, have to pick MIL from airport again today. Not sure i have the energy, but will soldier on. ;)
-
Happy birthday Alister! :happybirthday: Hope you have a wonderful day with Mummy and Daddy and the big kids  Gorgeous boy!!
Also thinking about Scarlett and Liddle Pixie today too. Wish we knew how LP is getting on. :(
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEEKY ALISTER!!! I hope you have a wonderful day and love your tractor!!!
I also wonder how LP and Scarlett are getting along - come on LP log on and tell us how you are!! HAPPY BDAY SCARLETT!
MD - how are you today? I looked up school holiday programmes for you in case you are interested for H, there are a couple of horse riding ones from 9-3 or 10-5 each day for a week? I also saw a netball one? and also one called 'creative catalyst' which is different art projects etc and you can choose days that suit according to the programme (that one is in yarralumla).
ETA - just got some sad news that a colleague of DH baby passed away at 5 weeks on Noah's bday - he had spinal muscular atrophy - i am so upset and shaken - those poor parents. we are all very lucky ladies in here.
-
Happy Birthday Alister and Scarlett!! Did you get the Radio Flyer wagon Trill?
Well we had immunisations this morning. She was an angel. Didn't flinch for the first one and only a little grizzle for the next 2. Then all smiles when I cuddled her and gave her the box of sultanas.
That arty programme sounds like something H would like. Hope you find something that will give you a bit of a break.
DH has flown up to Sydney today. We went and waved to the plane, there was lots of pointing and arm flapping when it lifted off, very cute. She probably won't want to go to bed tonight because she won't have had daddy playtime though, at least he will be home about 8 so if it's really bad she can see him then.
Arte - hope A is feeling better today. How are you? Was it just a little tummy bug? As for no rhythm, poor fella at school dances!
Cinta - well done for Chessa walking! And congrats for finding DP's sister.
I'm wondering if the risk factor for teeth is because we don't have fluoride in our water- she did mention that it means we should use adult toothpaste from 18mths. The only other thing is that she has a breastfeed right before bed - could that be bad? Or maybe because I mentioned that I don't always brush her teeth twice a day. Anyway, will ring her tomorrow and try to find out.
How much water are all the bubs drinking? Since cutting out 3 breastfeeds (which she hardly seemed to notice were gone) she's only drinking a little bit extra. In total about 250mL of water each day. We've tried cow's milk a few times, but she's not a fan. She has lots of fruit and will be getting some fluid from that.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE ALISTER!! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL DAY LITTLE MAN!
Will jump on later to catch up.
-
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY ALISTER!! KEEP ON SLIDING LITTLE DUDE :p
I gave S some cows milk today as she was cracking it when she saw me drinking some. She loved it...even drank it from a big girl glass (with mummys help ;)). She hasn't had any sort of reaction so far (not really expecting just worrying...again) unless you call extreme clumsiness a reaction :p Poor little tucker has been in the wars today. What cows milk do you guys give bubs and will she still need to have formula if I'm not around for a b/f? I hate expressing...doesn't work for me
Hey Renee...I checked out that site simplycolours and got S a jersey with Sar-Bear 07 on the back and a shirt that says Daddys Little Painter (DH is funnily enough a painter) So cute, can't wait to get them.
Also, bought a cute bookcase from Ezibuy that is in the shape of a dolls house. Reduced down to $99 so bargain. Over a metre tall and is white. Also so cute. That'll be a xmas pressie me thinks. Seeing as she has so many other things for her bday as it is.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALISTER!!!!
PP: which MACH nurse did you see? we went to narrabundah and saw Mary. she was really lovely and gentle...
Sorry to hear about your DHs colleague going through such a devastating time. Friends of mine in Ireland lost their baby boy Daniel at 12 weeks to a weak heart, and it was devastating (even though they knew he wouldn't survive, it didnt help with saying goodbye). poor people, and yeah, you're right we are so fortunate to have our little people here with us.
Cally: woot on the good vacc's session!
and too cute waving goodbye to daddy!
Arte: well we have a dancer here! L loves it! she boogies right down doing twists and shaking her head....have to say that she aint a pretty ballerina though! the kinda dancing only a mummy (and daddy!) could love!
Cinta: ahh the joys of facebook! i too have done family searching. my dad abandoned us when i was a few weeks old, and i know that i have brothers that are only a wee bit younger than me, so occasionally i go and check it out to see if there is any familial resemblance! cheeky i know, but curiosity is a powerful thing!
AFM: our BIG news of the day is that Leila has started standing all on her ownsome!! sooo awesome, and she thinks she rocks!
-
hi clare - my MACH nurse was anna, i heard mary was great but i never got her???!!!! i should probably go back some time, even just to get him weighed and make sure all is ok.
woo hoo on leila standing!! that is sooo adorable about the dancing too. N also loves music, he bops along (though no twisting as he does it sitting down) and sings.. in fact he sings thunderstruck by ACDC all the time da da anananananananaaaaaa - took us a while to work out what he was singing. most of the day he is singing soemthig and he has also learned all the actions to twinkle twinkle this week which is pretty special!
-
OMG PP that is soo cute!! man, leila is no way near as coordinated as N! i mean she claps her hands and stuff, but doesnt even try to do the twinkle twinkle stuff! (Oh and have i tried LOL!).
yeah you gotta see mary! she is really lovely and just loves babies! even DH liked her!
