G, When Lindsay had a bad dose of gastro/vomiting DH had arranged some casual work in town for that week ages before he got it and while he was at work I was at home cleaning up spew and poo all day and he would knock off work and have a few beers with the other blokes before coming home. By the end of the week I cracked it with him and told him he had to pull his finger out his ass and give me a hand because I'd had a gutfull of him being able to just stay in town and have beers instead of coming straight home, and this was before anyone really had mobiles, so I couldn't call him either. Not that I begrudge him having a beer, but he knew that Lindsay was sick and still stayed away kwim? When he finished the work he had on he did help me do all the washing that had built up and cleaned the house for me and that. Alister has been having a shower with me a lot lately and I don't hold him at all - I just put him on the floor and he's happy to sit or stand there. Don't worry about his weight as he will put it back on once he's well and eating properly again.

Kate, OoOh I think I have a tramp stamp...?? (Never heard it called that before...) I've got a sisterhood mark on my lower back. It's the sign my freestyling bellydance sisters and I wear (an arrangement of dots). Sounds bizarre, but TBH I don't often think about it.

Rainy, aaaw you poor thing, you definitely need more support than that! Glad L is a bit better now. No not the only immature DP, mine regresses on a fairly regular basis LOL (esp in the company other other males). I think it's the Y chromosome fighting against his evolution as a human being LOL. BUT he does the laundry so in a lot of women's eyes I ain't got nuthin to complain about.

Good luck Clare, though it's probably already over and done! Isn't the confirmation to do with your thesis being accepted?

Sherie, awesome cake, loved the photo of A in his wagon as well. I need to charge my camera and upload some photos too, I've got some beauties, poor DH hasn't even seen them yet!

Well the petting zoo at Floriade was excellent! Missy E was just entranced, especially loved the ducks and the sheep. The weather was a bit dodge which kept the crowds away so it was nearly a perfect tulip experience, except DD1 had one of her moods on and holding E for photos was just oh soo hard for her so I was a bit disgruntled towards the end. Ah well, that's life. Pity cos the tulips were nearly perfect and I doubt they'll be that good if we go back to try for more photos next week.

so ashas birthday and party went really well am uploading the pics ontp facebook as i type this lol.. shes cheekier than ever! a real handful! just laughs when u tell her no and goes back to what she was doing grrrr!!! still no walking! she does this strange walk on her knees thing now tho no idea what thats about!! shes got lots of new phrases and words.. her favourites are "tickle tickle" and "oh dear" lol shes a chatterbox!!

AFM N is doing a lot better - had a better night last night, esp once our guests left and we didnt have a 2yr old screaming outside his door!! he was so happy this morning which was gorgeous. i am a bit emotional today as he was born on jewish ny last yr so it is his other bday tomorrow!!!

Just a quickie from me..

Yipppeee..... DH is now home again and all the kids are doing heaps better.

Xavier went for his check up about his ears and he can go back swimming so I have now booked all the kids in for lessons again... He has to wear special plugs though. Jordy's ear is heaps better now and Olivia's cold has gone.

Olivia is now walking some more now so it wont be long b4 she does it full time...lol

I slept last night like I have never slept b4 so it was wonderful and nice for a change.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MM on your engagement I am really happy for you and your family.

Hope all the partys on the weekend were wonderful.

MD- Yep, I've been told that the tattoos above the butt crack is called the tramp stamp. lol oh well...tramp stamp it is. Post a pic next time you pull the camera out. I've just found a cable that fits my camera so will put some pics up on FB of tat and of course Sarahs party. I didn't take many with my camera but a good friend of mine did so am waiting on those.

Noni - I love Ashas cake...so cute and the party looked like heaps of fun. Have to ask where did that pink pool thing come from. I want to get something like that for S but have only seen those clam shell looking things. Ashas looks a lot cooler.

AFM - Well found another tooth of Sarahs. It's her top left 'fang' tooth. I'm pretty sure thats a technical term :lol: and the top right seems to be wanting to make an appearance as well.
Had a major scare moment this afternoon. S was playing happily in the lounge and after a bit I realised that I couldn't hear her so turned around and she was gone. I had a major panic attack because I couldn't remember if the back door or the gate across the doorway was closed. Well, guess what...nope it wasn't. I found Sarah on the fourth top step looking back at me happily. If my heart wasn't beating so hard I might have found it amusing. All I could think of was what a **** mother I am :wall: I am so grateful that I taught her how to get off beds backwards.

kate- yes i have lost lewis a couple of times and freaked out. last time i found him with his hand in the toilet.

lewis is doing a lot better today. he's been eating and drinking and actually smiling :D he's still very sooky and clingy but he's doing much better thankfully- he's gotta go to a 1st birthday party on sat so i'm just hoping he feels good for that.

Kate, I love 'tramp stamp' LOL. I can just imagine how you were feeling when you saw her up there too. Don't fret about it too much, she didn't fall and hurt herself and these things happen, so you're not a bad mummy :hug:

Marydean, I'm sorry but I had to stiffle a small smile at the thought of H thinking it was too much effort to hold E for photos. Don't you know that once they get to a certain age EVERYTHING is too much effort? ;) LOL. Great to hear that the petting zoo was a real hit.

Ok, so now it's my turn to host the gastro bug. Poor Erin woke up at 10 last night and came out to me in the loungeroom with vomit all through her hair because she'd been sick in bed (and wasn't that a joy to clean up). There was no warning of it coming on at all - she was fine all day and ate all her dinner last night. So then she spent the next few hours to 1am throwing up or running to the loo poor kid. She seems fine today and is keeping everything down and in ;) but her tummy is very tender and delicate though. I am just really hoping that the other 3 don't get it. Great way to spend the holidays otherwise :rolleyes:

Paige had a speechie appointment today and I asked her speechie about what is expected for 1yo's etc (remember we were talking about that a while back) and she said that they are only expected to know around the 5 word mark and it isn't until around the 18mth mark when they should have about 50 words that they will repeat most words as part of their vocabulary kwim? So if they say something and you can't get them to say it again, that's normal and when they get to 18mths and if they still aren't saying much, you should start to pay attention to how their speech and language/communication skills are developing. I asked her mainly because once you have a child with speech issues, it makes you more on the ball for the future kwim? I didn't even think about it with the first two because they were both such excellent talkers at a young age.

ETA - LOL G, I do kwym. The biggest problem with my DH is that he can't ever say no when someone says 'stay and have a beer'. Plus when you live as far out of town as we do, there isn't anything I can do about it if he decides to stay in after work for a few beers. Glad to hear that L is a lot better today though.

oohhh sherie sorry to hear gastro has struck! it's horrid

lewis doesn't say any words yet at all, except dadadad and mamamama or something like that. should i be worried at all yet?

I wouldn't be worried about him at this stage, unless you think he has other issues like not understanding what you say to him or being able to express himself in other ways, like babbling etc. She just said that the average was about 5 words, so some will have more and others less I would assume, just like with anything they do.

Just catching up watching my boys trash my lounge room with the blocks and their bare bums flash past my eyes with every circle they crawl, waiting to see who's the first to Pee on my floor.

Tats: I have a (haha) 'tramp stamp' .. its a black design, just got pics of it last nite (and it was done dec 04) ... i'm booked in to get another one in oct whilst i'm in qld of a pentagram thats going to be placed just above my current one. Will post pics of new & old on f/b over the next few weeks.

I'm sitting here thinking I go to QLD next thrusday (9th) & I haven't even started to get organised. I have to do start early cos i miss so much or all the clothes i want is in the wash.

MM: this may be getting old, I agree with Prev. posts, its your wedding day, you guys do what you want & what is going to make you happy. You don't want to look back & wish you'd have done it instead of.

Well S and I are off on her first airplane flight. I know we are a bit behind the other high flying bubs and the flight only lasts 50mins but hey still go up and then down again. In a tin can no less. Going back up to Bundy from Brissie so huge trip... ;)
Wish me luck on the trip...I think she'll be fine but once I give her boobie on the ascent, she'll have to pop back on soon after for the descent. I'll try a dummy but she doesn't really like hers except for cutting teeth. Oh well, will give it a whirl.

Oh and also taking my sister out to brunch at the pancake manor for her birthday before we catch the flight so am looking forward to that...Woot for pancakes!

I'm going to try to take another pic of my tats. The last pic didn't show it relly well.

Afternoon!

We had a scheduled power outage this morning so I thought I would go to town & get some items on layby for santa. Oops, boys were a bit grizzly. Jack is working on his 2nd molar's points & Alex's ear infection is bothering him. They were alseep when we got home so i tried to put them to bed but Alex woke up & refused to go back & in all the comotion he ended up waking Jack up :( Very unfort as I really wanted a lay down today (I don't like sleeping during the cause I wake up cranky .. so if I really wanted to, I must be exhausted hey!).
Alex is happy the power is back on as he's sitting quitely watching numberjacks :dance: whilst I try & get Jack down for a kip or he'll be real cranky by dinner time.

kate: how was your flight? I was a bit concerned bout the boys when we went Sydney to Adelaide but they done really well. I'm sure S was great?

Andie - Aww, I hope the boys are behaved for you tonight so that you can have a good nights sleep.

AFM - Well flight went well. She was a bit grizzly while they were fiddling around before take off. I asked the airhosty if I could bf while take off and landing and she said no, for safety reasons. They have to have their back to your chest and strapped in. Luckily she was fine going up. I gave S a bit of a feed in the air as she was sooking so I had her strapped into me and twisted around to have a feed. She was so happy there and actually had a kip. I kept her like that through descent and the hosty didn't tell me off. So S slept through turbulence (in a Dash 8, which is like 50 seats or something, so a bit scary), through landing, through getting up and getting our hand luggage and didn't wake up until the sun hit her eyes as we walked across the tarmac. So all in all not too bad. Definately quicker than driving or train.

And pancakes were yummo! **Drools** I snuck a candle to the waitress and had her put it on my sisters pancakes...nice and embarrassing for her. :lol:

We had a near-miss from the Pink Eye Fairy yesterday. E woke up late arvo with a pink eye, got her straight down to the drs (mind you not without throwing out the entire evening routine) - anyway got the drops in last night and it was clear again this morning, lucky for me otherwise she wouldn've have been going to FDC for MD's Day Off. And what a day it was, I even had the Borders Bookshop experience (complete with them NOT having the books I wanted but managing to buy stuff anyway LOL).

Oh dear, better go the Yuckky Bum Fairy's just arrived. (PuhYew!)

OH no MD! Glad to hear the Pink eye fairy was given a swift kick up the bum and told to bugger off!

Well I have 2 sick boys here today. Not pretty I can tell you. At least with the bigger kids they can get it in the bucket or the toilet, but poor old Alister just has to do it wherever he's standing *oh the joy* I'm hoping that it goes as quick as it did for Erin so they should be right by tomorrow.

Sorry but I laugh everytime I read that Lewis has gone for the space bar again, little cutie.

Falguni - LOL at you 'dissapointing' your inlaws. I give up with mine! I've come to the conclusion that there's always gonna be one family member I am going to 'dissapoint' with this wedding. Your wedding sounded beautiful btw.

Well I have a bit of news too, I was on the phone today and watched M stand without furniture, then take 3 steps. I almost screamed down the phone hahaha. Very exciting stuff this walking!

PP and Rainy, MUST have been the moon. I was up hourly last night too. Bit of a rude shock to the system i tell ya! I was down the coast visiting a friend so DH had a good sleep, so you guessed it, he's on duty tonight.

MD- i had a little chuckle. Pink eye in cows is a terrible cancerous growth in the eye. I quickly firgured out that it is not the same in humans by your laid back chatter about it! :lol:

Kate- we have flown 4 times (8 flights) with Lu and i have BF her take off and landing each time. Each time the hosty has offered me a pillow to make her more comfortable! I still have the belt on but just have her twisted like you say. Sound like you have a silly hosty.


Riddle me this............. why do they always poo in the bath when you are in the bath with them??? Tonight Lu poo'd in the bath, not pretty. i was a little wiser than last time though and decided to scoop, rather than attemp to poke it down the plug hole! Worked much better. :lol: There is a valuable lesson for all in that! :rofl:

Lu never crawls now, walks and attempts to run. She seems so grown up. Where has the time gone?!

Ange, that happened to me the other night too. lately Alister and I shower together all the time and then we sit and have a play for a bit (our shower has a very deep recess and you can put a plug in it like a little bath) and he's standing there chatting away and then he does this ripper of a fart in the water which he thinks is hilarious, and then before I could do anything, he goes all stiff and starts grunting and I though "hello! time to bail out of here" and just as I got out all these little pebbles go floating past. Scooping is definately the removal method of choice ;)

I go to QLD on the 9th & return home the 20th or the 21st depending on how I'm feeling. Have a wedding to attend the 18th but figured I''d go up a week early & catch up with some friends, most whom I haven't seen since before we moved here in Jan.
The good thing bout going to QLD is that I always get to stop into Ballina Coffee Club & see my mum & step dad. :D

Never had the pooing in the bath, lucky me, touch wood! Have caught Alex standing up to take a wizz recently.

MD - I know, I was confused. It wasn't like the seatbelt didn't let me, she just said that if I have to do the brace position then bubs needs to be back to chest with me. Makes sense but I'd be able to flick her around pretty quickly if needed (touch wood that its never needed) . Sounds like I need Fals hosty next time. :p Nice catch with the pink eye as well. Pink eye is easier to spell than conjunctivitus :think: :lol:

MM - No real holiday. Went down to Bris for Sarahs birthday and had to stay a few days longer than expected but DH had to get home so he drove and I flew a few days after.

Fal - S used to always poo in the bath :wall:. It seemed to be the only time she was relaxed enough to do it. She was always grunting and straining and would have trouble getting it out. But I could almost guaruntee that once she was in the bath, she would grunt some more and let loose. Not pretty at all but yep scoopage is definately the way to go. I used the kitty litter scoop...sorry kitty :shhh:

I was on here an hr ago having a little chuckle at the pooing in the bath stories, Maddie has never done that before. Well karma came around and bit me on the bum, she didnt poop in the bath.... but when I got her out of the bath she crawled off nakie and I sat in her room waiting & calling her name. Well I peeked out to see what was taking so long & there's Maddie on the kitchen floor sitting in poo and spreading it all over the tiles. YUCK! Straight back into the bath hehe.

Kate - Brisbane would have been nice for Sarah's bday.

After 2 very early morning wake ups, K is having a sleepin. But mummy's body won't let her!! DH was in bed, lights out at 8 last night. He is having a lovely time home with her, they popped into childcare for a practice and he said she was quite comfy wandering off to play with the toys.

E says Dad and Daddeeee (esp upon seeing any man), she says "Ah" when giving cuddles, DoH for dog, Duh for duck, H'Nah for DD1 and has said clear as a bell Mummeee but doesn't use it very much. I'll scratch around for the list - being words they recognise at this stage rather than spoken words...

Rainy, ah sorry to hear your DP is being a DH again. I wish i could crawl inside his skull and give his brain a good slap or two. Does he not know how upset he's making you?? (doesn't he know that even if it's because of your pg hormones it's Still His Fault!!! LOL) Hope things smoothe over there soon.

well we had a better night, though not as good as some of you LOL! he needed afew settles earlier in the night but then slept from 11 to 6 - happy with that! I think he is the naughtiest non sleeper in here sometimes! I am also listening to all your walkinh stories with wonder - he is still mastering crawling! he is basically commando crawling still - i dont think he is ever going to get his tummy off the ground and crawl 'properly' - he is gettinga lot faster and more 'adventurous' though so he is progressing! he does talk a lot and do other things so i am guessing he just has been focussing on different things... well i hope so anyway!

MD - I love you calling it CHI HUA HUA. I had to call the bet for my MIL the other week and told the receptionist that I had a CHI HUA HUA that needs an appointment. :lol: Didn't even really think about it when i said it...its just what I call her dogs now. And of course the movie promos don't help. Anyway, the receptionist cracked up laughing and booked the little mutt in.

PP - Yeah, I'd say N is just wanting to be a talker first. S only has mumma and dadda as decipherable words at the moment. At least when they are still fairly immobile then you know where they are when you put them down ;p

I'm off camping this weekend. As 5 star as I can get at this place tho. Its an aircon cabin with fridge, toaster, kettle, bbq and beds!! Dh is going riding so I told him that I needed comfort while he was out having fun. Got a great friend coming as well whos in the same boat. Her DP is a rider and shes got a nearly 2 year old so we'll hang out while they go and most probably hurt themselves. :rolleyes: Should be fun tho..wish me luck

Kate, we used to go to the Pancake Manor on Friday nights and play pool at the bar downstairs. I loved it, but had to stop when W came along.

LOL at all the poo stories, W was a chronic bathtime pooer for a few months there. Every second night he would let one go lol. Didn't worry me too much because bathtime is DH's domain LMAO

Rainy, Poor Lewis! Glad to hear he is smiling again. That must have been horrible for you. Hope that your DP sorts himself out.

As far as words go, W has only the half dozen he started saying about 6 weeks ago. Any new words seem to be once off's. His standard ones are mum, dad, bub (all in context), duck, neigh, baa, maa (moo), meow, teeth (which is teeth, any brush or tube).
The other day he was having a BF and he looked up, touched my hair and said 'Pretty'. It was soo cute. He said it a couple more times since then too.
We went out for lunch the other day and he kept saying Neigh, I couldn't figure it out because there were no pictures of horses or birds (they say neigh too) then I realised he was looking at the giraffe on my milkshake cup. He is a clever bean.

Off to the IL's tomorrow so I probably won't be able to log on. Hope everyone has a good week.

Arte - wow, W has a lot of words! In a few months time, you'll probably be complaining that he never shuts up!! Wait until he starts saying 'why'. First pay day is today!! Will be nice having money again, not living off what DH gives me. Have a good trip.

Kate - sounds like the kind of camping I'd do!! Enjoy yourself.

DH took K down to the beach this morning. They were playing in an area that no dogs are allowed in, even if they are on the leash. Anyway, a red heeler came up and jumped on him, while he was holding K!!! Thank god he was holding her, I would have been freaking out, I'm not very good with dogs. He blasted the owner, she said she was sorry, she forgot it was school holidays (what that's got to do with anything I don't know seeing as K won't be at school for a number of years) and gave him her details. He called the rangers to report it. Thank god he was holding her and she wasn't on the ground, I hate to imagine what would have happened then.

Life as a working mum is OK so far. Helps having DH at home so I don't have to cook during the week. Will be another story when he goes back to work.

Work however is a different story - huge gaps in the files for the projects I am working on, things put in the wrong files, things still in emails that haven't been printed out etc. Thankfully the lady looking after my jobs is still around so I can ask her, but it makes it tricky.

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather - I have the window open (listening to the skateboarders come flying down the hill) with a gentle brreze and the heater under my desk keeping my little piggies toasty!

kate - the pool is from toys r us and the umbrella and stand were from big w.. the pool was only like 40 bucks i think and comes with the two sides so u can close it ip at night :)

Just quickly....

The Kids are A-OK today thankfully. Poor Alister was sooooo thirsty when he woke up this morning as he had nothing to drink after 6pm last night and anything he had earlier came right back up again. I think he would have drank near 500ml of water today plus a few bottles. I was up till 2am waiting for Lindsay and Paige to be settled enough that I could go to bed. But I had a 2hr snooze this morning with Alister on the lounge while the other three dozed on and off as well. So all's good for the time being.

Cally - I would have freaked out as well. Would have only been worse if the dog was a 'rougher' breed, like rotties. My sisters dog was a rottie and was the best dog ever but could get hyper and knock an adult off their feet. I'm with you about the WTF to the school holidays comment. The no dog rules apply year round! So lucky that DH had K in his arms.

Noni - Have a shopping trip to Toys R Us now! Sounds like a great price as well. The clam ones are about $40 also and Ashas is super cute.

Sherie - Glad to hear the kids are feeling better, just in time to go back to school for the older ones. :doh:

Well Sarah has been sooking in her cot for an hour now and refuses to go to sleep. Even though she was rubbing her eyes, yawning and grizzling before I put her in there. So frustrating. So off to try to get her down AGAIN :wall::wall::wall:

Kate LOL that's my style of camping too. Aircon and a dunny that flushes. Oh the CHI HUA HUAs were sooooo good, DD1 said that's one of the best movies she's ever seen (thats high praise cos she's seen millions).

BTW I forgot to tell you my bath poo story, well I have too really. Once was the (now legendary) time when I was 3 years old and my sister and I were in the bath and she was saying to me "I just did a poo, I did a poo" (teasing me, she hadn't really done one) so I thought Allright and let one rip. PMSL I'll will never forget the look on her 5 yo face and the hysterical screaming when she spotted my little floater working its way up the bathtub towards her! AAAH the joys of sisterhood. Second bath poo story, I went into the bathroom to hang E's towel (DH was dressing her) and I though - eww what's that - E had pood in the bath and DH didn't even NOTICE - not when she was in the bath and not when he got her out either!!!!!!!!! Lucky for him he offered to clean it up.
