well....not too much to tell really :)
i was just sitting in the kitchen having a drink
he basically just went and got the ring out of its hiding spot and said 'will you marry me?'
i started laughing and put the ring on and said 'yes'
no romance whatsover...but that's just him i guess :) he's gorgeous though
-
Awwww that's still really sweet though - totally spontaneous and unprompted. You can't ask for more than that. Do you think you will ever let on about knowing there even was a ring?
-
he sort of knows that i knew that something was coming cos we were looking at them one day when we went to a shopping centre to go to toys r us....but i'm not going to tell that i was wearing it!
lewis loves how sparkly it is and keeps touching it
eta- oohh girls, please don't mention anything about us being engaged on fb yet as we haven't told df's family yet :)
-
no worries about not telling. You're not gonig to tell his mother are you?
-
Rainy- CONGRATULATIONS  I am really happy for you and now you can wear the ring all the time now. Yiipppppeeeee
MM- I dont think you have too much to worry about M turning 2 its more like terrible 3's... The boys have been going nutso..and driving me up the wallo. lol
Tantie's: Yep my Livi is a big Tantie Chucker when she doesnt get what she wants. I hope she snaps out of it quick smart.
Noni- Glad the party went great
Well Monster trucks was great although the boys were really tired and went to sleep half way through.
Better go Jordy is crying and dosent want to go to sleep.
-
sherie- well....it's hard...we're not going to ring her and tell her, put it that way. but i guess if df's dad rings him then he might tell him. i would prefer them not to know at all, but it really is df's call iykwim? anyway, she should be happy seeing as they were so embarassed and ashamed that we had a baby without being married.
leanne- glad monster trucks went so well :)
-
MM - The mother noticed after like a minute but with the crowds around and all the other kids she just sort of blended. I am so super paranoid with Sarah at the best of times but it could happen to anyone. Sarah does me proud with her tantys. So cute and I laugh nearly every time. So no fear...sounds like we are all in the same boat. :wall:
MD - tell me about it with the pants. I remember those days...but could you refresh my memory on the definition of romance...? Does handing me the baby at 3am count as romantic? LOL Thanks for the tip about concussion...I didn't even think about that. And well done on the fete...and it also explains the blue hair comment on fb. I thought you'd gone and gotten a granny rinse!
Rainy - CONGRATS TO RAINY AND THE FUTURE MR RAINFOREST! :confetti::happyforyou::hooray: Sounds like my proposal. Was so him though. Hows his mum going to take it? The look on her face should be good. Knowing that you now have more than just babies to keep you attached to DF. I tell my MIL that marriage certificate trumps birth certificate! Which means that DH has to side with me not her. It works now but I'll revise that once Sarah marries. ;)
As for that group - I know them through FB...its just a group of mums from this area. But OMG the ***** has hit the fan since the get together. One mum completely attacked the mother of the lost child on the public wall. Unnecessary I thought. Turned into a massive barney with childish behaviour and backstabbing. So now that group is no more.
Well...I've got some news ladies and I'm going to pull a 'rainy' and hold out for the drama.
.
.
.
.
Nah I'm not. I'm not so cruel as to hold you in suspense. ;) We got a puppy...her name is Shaela and shes a bitsa wolfhound staghound mastiff cross. She'll only be about the size of a labrador. Shes so beautiful. Photos going onto fb now.
Now for my relaly big OMG moment...decided to pop into the Warehouse after getting the puppy to pick up some puppy essentials and as we were getting into the car I saw a lady frantically bashing at the windows of her car. She had locked her keys and her 18 month old in the car. Parked in the sun around midday. She was completely hysterical (as you would be). She wanted to smash the windows so after scouting around for something to use she ended up pulling a fence paling off an already falling apart fence and used that to smash the triangle quarter panel near the windscreen. She couldn't get her arm through so I did and unlocked the door. The poor mother was in such a state that she had worked herself, her baby and her young child up. He was okay thankfully, she had the aircon running full bore before stopping the engine and he was only inside for maximum 10mins. I jumped in the car once I knew they were okay and started driving home and Rory pointed out the blood on my arm. I'd cut myself on the glass whilst sticking my arm through the gap. Bits of glass were embedded and I didn't feel a thing. The adrenalin didn't wear off until Rory told me about the cuts. Did a quick stop off to the emergency room (we were driving past) and got the triage nurse to flush it out and give me a tetanus jab to be on the safe side (was way overdue).
So after a big weekend...I think I'm going finish putting these photos up thenhitting the sack. Hope everyone else had a good weekend... :D
-
omg kate- that poor mum. i wouldve been freaking out too. lucky you were there to help.
sounds like you're better off without that crazy mums group- stick to bb friends instead!
do any of you guys have nicknames for your babies? df always calls lewis chunk. its been going on for months, cos he rekons he looks chunky around his face/neck. now im worried poor lewis thinks his name is actually chunk! he answers to it and laughs when df says it
-
LOL G, I call Alister 'Dude', DH calls him Little Dribbly (Lindsay is Dribbly). I have names for all of them - Lindsay is Mate, Erin is Happy (cause she never was LMAO, bit cruel but apt) and Paige is Baby Girl. Lindsay told me that at school his mates call him Lohan LMAO - I didn't think 8yo boys could be so clever. Not sure if I want that to stick.
Kate, Well done for helping that Mum out - she would have really apreciated it I'm sure. I hope she and her kids are OK now. Does your arm hurt much?
Leanne, Lindsay would give his left arm to see monster trucks in action, but the irony is that as much as he loves stuff like that (jet boats, airshows, motor cross, tractor pulls etc) he hates seeing them for real because they are too loud - he can't stand loud noises. On the October long weekend we went to a town centenary celebration and there was a guy there with his drag bike and Lindsay thought that it was really awesome to see it and then the guy cranked her up and Lindsay took off like a dog shot in the ass poor kid. Frightened him really bad.
-
lmao at Lohan! that's hilarious
-
Rainy, Congrats!!! How exciting. How is the name game going? No nicknames here, we don't even tend to shorten his name much, just call him William. I would love to go boating with you!
Trill, Is L 8 already? Here I was thinking he was still about 6 lol Isn't it amazing how quickly time goes. How is your medication going?
Kate, yay for the puppy. I would sort of like to get a pup but we are renting atm and they didn't really want us to have one inside dog so I don't think we would be allowed a pup too.
Leanne, the monster trucks sound really cool, W would love that - he is so into trucks etc
Clare, bummer about the giant bruise. My 3 year old neice hit her head on the sandpit side and got a massive black eye and it looked horrible. People kept asking her how she did it and she said she didn't know, which made her mum feel worse like Sophie was covering for her lol
I just cannot believe how much W has grown in the past couple of weeks. He must have had a growth spurt because now he can reach stuff that was previously too high but he also seems so much older too. Lately I have turned around to see him scooting his ride on bike down the hallway, walking backwards, pattering down the hall after getting himself out of bed (Grrr, how do I keep him in now!!!), walking around wearing my shoes. His fine motor skills have improved too and he can do things like getting the plunger into a syringe etc. My baby is completely gone, replaced by a fun little boy.
-
hi everyone - firstly CONGRATS to rainy!!!! I hope you looked suitably surprised re the ring.... now you dont have to take it off at all. when will u get married???
so sorry i have been MIA (thanks Arte for asking after me, I hope I didnt have you worried!). I have had one of my usual crazy busy weeks, to cut a long story short i got STUCK in melb on thu night ( i had to doa last min 2 day trip down) as i missed my flight which was the last one back (including via syd) at 7pm and then no rooms at the airport hilton, no rooms at the airport holiday inn... you can pucture how upset i was getting after 2 VERY long and stressful work days, DH at home with N expecting me back at 8pm etc etc etc... eventually found a dodgy motel near the airport where i got the last room.... but up again at 5am to make the 1st flight home.... what a disaster!! also obv work has been stressful (hence the dash to melb) and i am WIPED OUT tiredness wise, i forgot how tired iwas in the 1st tri last time (think it is worse this time). Beena bit nauseous too but mainly just soooo tired!! N is at care today (I am at work) - think i will have a nana nap at lunch time. he is also not sleeping well as getting the molars so that isnt helping. anyway thats enough whingeing from me!
will keep up fromhere... and do more personals soon too.

hi girls
pp- will your work slow down soon? it sounds absolutely hectic. idk how you do it.....
arte- yes we have a definite name now, i'm going to keep that one a secret until he's born though. i'll text one of you and let you know as soon as he's popped out. i'm not 'in love' with the name, but it's a name i've always liked and we both just keep coming back to it, so i think that means something. it sounds really nice with the middle and surname too, so i think we're on a winner.
i've come to my dad's today cos my house is so messy i can't handle being there atm and i don't want to clean it till tomorrow cos i'm going away on wed morning and i don't want it to get messy again before i go, if that makes sense?! anyways, i have to get out of the house these days with lewis or he drives me banannas. dad and has taken him and my dog for a walk so i am sitting here relaxing- so nice!
-
WOW Rainey awesome news........... When will the wedding be ?? Also congrats on deciding on a name - you guys are doing better than we are ?? Still considering and keep coming back to Carter but I dont 'love' it either so I understand what you mean.
Preg - Glad to hear from you !! Rest up when you can hun, it's much harder with a toddler too, not to mention all the travel you do.
Art - W sounds like he's very advanced motor skills wise. What a clever boy yo have there !
Kate - puppies are sooooo cute, love the name btw.
The party went well and the cupcake tower was a hit although nobody thought I made it to begin with !! Will try to post a pic later today. Im having a friend over for lunch today with her little girl - so looking forward to catching up with them - life seems so busy atm and it's ages since we hung out together.
Hope you all have a great day - try to get back later for a chat.
-
Rainy - our main nickname for S is SARAH!!! Followed by GET OUT OF THERE NOW!!! She also gets Sar-Bear and Monkey. I had a moment the other day where I sort of just remembered what I called S before she was born. She was Squishy! Next one might have to be Squashy... ;) Good work on your relaxation time...good to put your feet up.
Sherie- The arm with the cuts is bruised but feeling okay but the arm that the tetanus jab went into is so sore. Couldn't even sleep on that side last night. about L being called Lohan. That is just too funny, and from 8 year olds. Whatta classic
Art - We're going to be renting too, luckily the previous tenants had dogs so we figured the owners wouldn't care. Got the lease paperwork and it states that we can have 2 cats and 2 dogs. So we're all good. OMG about W, he is such a clever little man.
PAP - I get tired just reading what you get up to. You are definately a Mum of the Year contender. Take care of yourself whenever you can.
-
Rainy - nicknames, E gets mostly Lisbeth, (NEVER Lizzie), Betsy, Bubby, Bubalubs, Missy, MissyMoo, Gorgeous girl...take your pick. LOL
Trill - Lohan's pretty funny. 8 year olds are dead genius at thinking up nick-names, not all nice either.. Maybe you could get L some noise reducing ear muffs. We had some (regular ones from the hardware store) for DD1 which she used whenever we went out for fireworks.
PAP - slow down hun! I hope you can carve out some R&R time for yourself soon. x
Kate, no granny rinses, though there have been times in the last 18 months when I was ready for a walking frame!! yay for puppy love, good practise for toilet training LOL.
Arte, isn't it amazing how they change? Will sounds completely adorable.
JG - WTG with the cupcake tower, LOL at them all thinking you bought it!
Clare, hang in there with the househunting, hun. Keep focussed on the qualities that you want your house to have, and suddenly one day it will be there and everything will just *click* into place.
Leanne glad the Monster trucks were a winner. DH has started talking about taking DD1 to the drags, she's keen as chips LOL.
-
hi girls...
look what happens when i aint looking!! Rainy gets a sparkly number on the right finger!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
how exciting!! ooohhh we are going to be getting at least 2 weddings in the future!!
as for nicknames: when L was still in utero she was 'buddah bub', but soon became 'chook', which she still is today.
MD: i think you are right. i get so worked up trying to find a nice 'home' (which is near impossible on our budget and postcode). but we will perservere...it's just so emotionally loaded, trying to picture growing ones family in a place...
Kate: ****! i too would have been absolutely hysterical! that poor woman, and yay for you being able to help her out. IKWYM about not realising the pain and blood. we were in a car accident a few years back and i kept telling everyone i was fine, it wasnt until i walked up to emergency and they made me lie down that i realised my feet hurt...i had over 150 pieces of windscreen in my feet! and they had to pull each one out: ouch!
love sarah's nickname!! ha ha, might have to use that one too! i feel like i am forever telling Leila to not touch this or that, the poor thing!
that is so great about the lease on the house. we had to fight tooth and nail to get approval for our dog and two cats...
and a puppy! sooo jealous!
PaP: man that sounds tough. what a way to spend a night! i would have also been beside myself.
do you think work will let you take it easy once you let them know of your precious cargo? did they do that with N?
they did this at my work, but was bummed about the timing as i was meant to go to PNG, but couldnt cause of the malaria meds that i would have had to take...bummer would have LOVED to have gone.
Arte: IKWYM about the baby disappearing and the kid now sitting beside you. this morning L came in for her morning cuddle and booby and she was sitting up in the bed lifting the covers and i no longer saw the profile of a baby, but of the girl she is turning into. i had a double emotion of sooo much pride and also a little pang for what is no more. i have also started staring too intently at pg women!! arrghhh!
AFM: well all good here. L had some difficulty falling asleep last night (there have been a couple of nights like this), but this morning i can see the white shadow of a toofie making its way to the top, so i guess i should prepare for a few more grizzly nights.
also she has been very emotional since her bang on the cheek. everytime she falls now she just loses it, even if it's just a tiny fall. so torn between comforting her and validating her emotion and just letting her realise that she's ok....hmmmm
-
hi girls
md- what's wrong with lizzie, i think its a cute name.
kate- squishy sarah is kinda funny :)
jg- not sure when the wedding will be yet. so you're having problems with names as well? our problem is that df doesn't like names that are too trendy or too traditional. its very hard!
girls' names are sooo much easier i reckon
well i''ve done a bit of a backflip on the pram situation and gone off the phil n teds one and decided i'm going to get a mountain buggy double. i think leanne, you mentioned you had one and loved it? i just think it's more suited to my needs as i do lots of walking with my dog and we live on a dirt road.
