girls, just a quickie- i'm having constant strong period type pains. i never had anything like this last time. is this anything to be concerned about or just body preparing?

Hey Strangers! Sorry I've been MIA again (and thanks for the PM Arte :hug: ) we started swimming lessons yesterday so we've been busy with that (the older three are having them) and Saturday was my birthday so Mum was out for lunch - and she brought with her a huge Caramel Torte from the Cheesecake shop! Not like I needed it though LOL. So I'm a bit drained mentally and not been posting much. DH has been working a few extra days so its been a bit hectic with the holidays and trying to stop 4 kids from getting bored and fighting with one another on my own :rolleyes:, oh and because it had been so hot, our computer has decided that it will only operate in cooler temps so it's being a bit temperatmental so I'm not on as often.
While the other three are having their lessons, I take Alister into the pool and he's completely fearless of the water! He will stand on the side of the pool and jump in whether I"m ready to catch him or not LMAO. He just flops down into the water and it doesn't phase him like it did the others at that age - as soon as they all got their hair wet that was the end of the swimming. Hence why they can't swim now and are my own little "Eric the Eel's" ROFL. But Lindsay is coming along nicely though.
G, I reckon you should give playgroup a go - Mine always loved going and it did give you a chance to just sit back with the bubba while they went and did their thing if you needed to feed etc - I highly recommend it.

we already do playgroup on a thursday morning and swimming on a wednesday morning, but i'm looking for something for tuesdays- so thought gymbaroo might be worth a shot.
You could be just starting to get ready for things - pre-labour can last for weeks or they could be BH's. We've never done Gymbaroo cause they don't have it here. I don't know what else you could do?
Rainy I was going to say perhaps the pains were BH or pre labour. Have you thought about story time at the local library for L? Not going for any certain sex, I would love a little boy next but would be happy either way.
Trillian You need someone to come to swimming and get some photos of A, sounds very funny.

Arte we are looking at private midwives because I want a homebirth. NZ sounds like it has a great system. Sorry to hear W isn't sleeping again. My friend is going through the same thing with her 18 month old, I was actually going to see if anyone had any advice.
Oz, no advice from me lol, but if you hear of anything good then I am willing to try it. At this point I will try anything.
Rainy, hope the pains are just warm ups. Yip, I BF him every time he wakes. I have tried cuddles, patting, shushing, getting DH to have a go but it escalates to very upset crying very quickly. He Bfs a zillion times a day too. I hope my milk dries up during the pregnancy, I suspect that is the only way he will wean. He is such a good baby in every other way though, I guess you can't have it all. Can you go to a playground and let him go for it to burn off some energy?

thanks sherie- i don't think it's BH, but i have to say, there is definitely more preabour pain than last time. Dh keeps calling me the girl who cried wolf, after last time he doesn't believe he'll see the baby until march.
katie- i thought of the library, but L is just such a terror i think it would be more stress than it's worth. there's no way he'd sit still and listen. he woud be pulling books off shelves and ripping them!
arte-well L weaned at 25weeks pg- so that may happen to you. i was actually really pleased when he weaned, i had well and truely had enough.

Need some advice girls, is anyone still having a bit of pain/discomfort during sex? I'm dissapointed that its not like it used to be, pre baby, is this normal? Is it meant to be different? I'm just not comfortable with dtd anymore, its no fun for me, just me gritting my teeth. I did tear a bit & had stitches & I wonder if its all in my head sorta thing. Does anyone have the same problem!?
Also when do toddlers stop using bottles for their milk? M still has a bottle and I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem of her night wakings for the bottle. Does anyone use a sippy cup for milk now? We have decided to bite the bullet big time & do whatever it takes to get rid of this night time feed. We know she doesnt need it, its just a bad habit now. All I want is a full nights rest!!
Home alone tonight, DP flew to Adelaide for work today, but back tomorrow night. Thank god because I hate being alone in the house

I think he has finally realised I was serious bout time running out. He has actually been talking to me to today bout his probs, has taken this long, & me being the nice person I am, am tying to help him. It did feel like he was wasting my time & then he wanted more time. I told him that he will fail & he will realise when its too late but like every other time I tell him something, & it always turns out that I was right, he didn't listen. When we are face to face I can read him like an open book, & I still know him pretty well. Just had to put my mental health first, for the sake of me & the boys.
Jack still has a bottle, everynite & on the odd occasion in the morning like if he wakes at 5am-ish. He uses cups or pop-top bottles through out the day. Have you tried replacing the nite time milk with water?
AFM:
Walking through town this morning, realised that I was walking taller than normal, & felt more confident & gueine (sp?) happy. It felt great. Not to say that I've turned my back on him forever, as I would like to see what he has to say & if the path goes that way, there will be conditions like marriage counselling etc.
Other than last nite's conflict, I have had two really good days. Went to the pool yst with my friend & her visitors & then we spent the afternoon having a gas-bag then today I spent the day with my friend (after saying by to her visitors) & then this arvo, we played with our tarot cards & did readings with diff decks to see what they would come up with, & each one was interesting.
i'm off to bed now & hoping that jack won't stir again (had twice in the last hour) .. nite ladies .. hope we all have good nite sleeps xox

finally got the results from ashas stool sample and it was completely clear, dioreah for 4 weeks and nothing! the dr has told us to take her off dairy products for 5 days and see if theres a difference and if its not that she has to be tested for celiacs, im hoping its dairy tho i really dont want her to have to get a blood test!!
Ashas been back to driving me crazy since weve been home, she gets bored so easily, its hard when all i want to do is lay on the lounge all day! house is disgusting too floor is desperate for a mop, especially where asha eats eeeeeek its so gross but i just have no energy its awful!! on top of that ashas decided she dosnt want to sleep! she woke last night at 2:30 for an hour and then at 5 decided it was time to get up.. i managed to get her back to sleep at about 6 but she woke again at 7:30 grrrrr!
andie - glad your feeling so great in your decision and having some much needed time out with ur friends :)
mm - i dont personally have any discomfort during dtd but perhaps its where u tore? u might have a little scar tissue thats being rubbed against.. have u talked to ur gp or health nurse maybe theyll have some suggestions for u?
rainy - we did gymberoo (and are hoping to go back soon) its really good, asha was always better behaved afterwards and slept better because shed burnt off so much energy, it is a bit expensive tho coz u have to pay upfront and not by the lesson... i cant believe u look over the warburton ranges lol we should met up!! yep we stayed in warburton at my friends place its so beautiful there im really jelous!
trill - yep my bf knows about the baby shes the first person i told after dp lol shes very excited.. thats so cute A jumping into the pool lol asha is very funny around the water very serious lol takes a bit to coax her in..

Noni: good luck with the scan! oooh so exciting! Asha sounds like leila ATM. she is sooo hard to keep entertained. my grandfather asked if she was hyperactive the other day...arrghhhhhh, please dont give me something else to get paranoid about! LOL!
Rainy: hope the cramps have eased a bit. but, on the positive side your body is getting ready and by the sounds of it, labour may not have to start from scratch IYKWIM. pave the way baby LOL! love the pics BTW on FB...
MM: yeah i am certain that the peth was the trigger for the pnd. within 20 minutes of having it, i felt lost. it was strange. so for the next time around no peth. in fact after reading that gorgeous home birth story of louisa dawn i may even go down that path!
as for the pain when DTD...tricky one, i had a couple of stitches and yeah for months the pain was pretty bad where they were. there was a thread on here about it awhile ago...cant remember where though...but i do believe that some of it can be psychological. i know that i would get tense beforehand and the thought of the pain and that didnt help either. i recommend the very unsexy (LOL!) use of lube for awhile just so you can have a bit more fun and not feel too much of the pressure on the scar area IYKWIM. this worked for us...
leila uses her sippy cup for the milk most times. when she is really tired i give her a bottle as it seems to comfort her more though.
arte: i think i may have some idea of what you must go through every night. L was up a million times last night. i tried to not give her panadol last night (she had it the last two for teething) but alas, the molar that is taking FOREVER to come through has been giving her a really hard time. bonjela did the trick last night. we were up every 20 minutes until 1.30am. and of course she then slept soundly and there i was wide awake until 3am :o. sat on the verandah and watched the wind the trees...
AFM: well as i mentioned to Arte, horror night here last night. L's getting a molar through and the horrid thing is taking ages to come. it's just sitting there swelling her gums like crazy. she has a major nappy rash happening too which isnt helping and my daughter dislikes the heat and being 39 degrees today is not helping. luckily it is a kindy day and they are having a water play day so she will LOVE it!
i need some hints on how to recover from sleepless nights (us that is! LOL!). do you guys try to rest up during the day or just go to bed earlier the next night? i ask because i am worried that if i have a nap today i wont be able to sleep again....
also, L is ALMOST weaned!!! we are down to one boob after dinner. she dropped the morning one while i was in toowoomba with her!!! i am soo happy that i havent had to force her too much (ie, i just created conditions where she didnt have a chance to ask). and now the night boob is really more for my benefit. i know that i could push the issue and have her drop this one, but ATM i am happy with where we are.

Took the boys to the pool this morning, knew they were gonna have a restless day. Was planning on taking them outside but yeah, Tracey asked if we wanted to go to the pool. Alex thought it was great having Matthew there & Jack is getting more courageous but still very unsure. He ended up taking himself out & sitting on the bench.

Clare - Sorry to hear you had a horror night, those molars are the worst! I hope it has finally come through? I am the same with giving too much panadol, but lately we have found Brauers teething relief to work wonders. Wow thats scary about the pethadine, have you done any further research into it to see if there have been similar reports? I might try the sippy cup milk thing. Yay for L being almost weaned! As for recovering from sleepless nights, I sometimes try to have a nap in the arvo when M naps & I am fine with sleeping that night. However most times I am naughty & rush around cleaning, cooking etc while I can iykwim. Last night I knew I was going to be in for a rough night with M (due to cutting out the bottle) so I went to bed early at 8.45pm. Sure enough when she woke at 3.30am I did not feel so sleep deprived, it was great. So I think early nights do wonders, especially when you know that you will be in for a rough night. Must admit most of the time I am so sleep deprived lol, the other day at work I had to have a berocca & a coffee to wake myself up. Most days I get around like a zombie hehe.
Andie - Glad you & the boys enjoyed your day at the pool. I've tired replacing the milk bottle with water, but no way she wont take it lol.
Noni - Let us know how A goes after her dairy free diet, I wonder if thats it? How do you do dairy free when it comes to their bottle of milk?
Well last night M woke at 3.30am demanding her bottle, so I tried all the tricks in the book, water in sippy cup, cuddles & I'm trying to introduce a special blankee that may hopefully take the place of the bottle for comforting. She whinged on & off for a couple of hours, with me only going into the room when she worked herself up. When I told her 'no bot bot' WHOA she hit the roof. So eventually it got to 6am and I got her up and gave her the bottle, as I'd be happy for her to wake around that time instead of 3.30am. So tell me the truth and I being mean? I felt so terrible I wanted to give her the bottle but I kept telling myself no dont do it. DP wasnt here last night but he always says just give it to her she will grow out of it. What do you reckon? Should I stick it out for a few weeks or should I just give her the bottle? I am just so tired these days & wishing she would sleep through.
MM- I don't think you are being mean. As you say it is just a comfort/habit thing now. Sleep and sanity is very important. I was amazed at how quickly DD dropped night feeds with a bit of help from us. Sure, it took a few nights of pacing the halls and offering cuddles for a couple of hours, but the hard work was well worth it when she started sleeping through. I think it took 3 nights, but that was when she was about 9 months. As M is older i would think it will take a bit longer. But i think the key is persistance. Once you make the decision to do it you need to stick by that decision, IYKWIM. Might be easier to do when your partner is home though so you have some support. Good luck! ;) Oh and what is s#x btw??? :lol: If it is still painful i'd be inclined to go for a check up. Are you using plenty of lube?? Is that a bit personal?! :o I find (or rather found, when i was actually up for it) I was dryer than usual and needed a bit of extra lubrication or it hurt. Sorry for the overshare!!!! rofl
Nonie- L has an intolerance to lactose. She had constant diarrhea, and screamed blue murder when i gave her cows milk. It gave her tummy pains. Dr suggested to me to cut out lactose for a week to see if there was any change and then if that didn't work cut out dairy. That way i could differentiate between an intolerance to protein or one to lactose. I gave her lactose free milk and she was much better. She can tolerate yoghurt and cheese but just not milk. Not sure why i shared that whole story! But maybe there is something in there for you.
Clare- i try and sleep in the day, but my house is seriously a disater zone and i am no way near ready for a new baby so i try and get it sorted when DD is asleep. I would sleep in the day if i was you! i sympathise with the molar, we are still struggling with all 4 atm. I'm about over it i tell ya!
L has developed some major seperation anxiety issue at bed time. She wants us to sit with her while she goes to sleep. I don't mind, as long as it doesn't take 3 hours like last night!!!! Tonight was ok, only half an hour. Hope this is just a phase.

god i woke up at 5 when asha did and it was already hot!! im actually sweating as i type this but it just seems wrong to turn on the air con at 8:30 in the morning!!!
falguni - thats really interesting that she can have dairy but not milk.. A dosnt really drink milk so it cant be that unfortunately for us... hope L slept well for u last night :) Ashas like that too needs us there when she falls asleep..
MM - atm shes having rice milk in her bottles you can buy soy formula tho if need be.. Asha dosnt sleep thru either but she dosnt have a night bottle.. you may find she still wakes anyway.. does she go straight back to sleep with the bottle? if she does id just keep giving it to her but im a bit lazy when it comes to things like that lol...
andie - sounds like u had a good time at the pools, i was thinking about taking asha today but it looks like dp hasnt been paid properly so ill have to wait...
cassius - lol @ the hyperactive comment.. Asha is one of those kids thats really affected by sugar lol you just have to see her behaviour without it to know its not a good idea haha
ah, i see that we are not the only ones dealing with the dreaded molars! i realised that L has got two coming through. they are just sitting there. none have broken through yet. but last night she slept and was panadol free so fingers-crossed it just nicely pops out for us :ROFL:

Ange: yeah i have been going for an afternoon nanna nap but find i cant sleep at night. luckily L the last 2 days has a morning nap so i go back as well for 30 minutes (i spend the other time also doing the mad dash around the house trying to pick up the various assortment of toys/clothes/food that leila has left around...does it ever end?! LOL!)
MM: a few girls that i have mentioned the effect of the pethidine (ie not taking away pain but sending us gaga) have had similar experiences so i dont know. maybe it works for some but not for others?
i think you are on the right track with M re the bottle. it is hard for the first few nights but they learn really quickly that there is no point in waking up and asking for it. hang in there for at least a couple of days more and see if there is some improvement IMO.
AFM: all good here. i am trying desperately to overcome my 'twilight' addiction. so far unsuccessful LOL! Leila is trying to drop one of her sleeps so ATM as i write i have a crazy baby on my hands. she woke up at 12 and has been going non-stop since. What time do your bubs have their sleeps? are they on one or two sleeps a day??
we gave leila some apple granita today and OMG the child went beserko. loved it! i have to admit mummy also found it rather refreshing...
her new dolly has also been getting a work out. she is really trying to mimick all the things we do with her. but the big favourite is getting us to swaddle dolly for her. for some reason it is the bestest thing in the whole world for Leila...who knows!

MM - still had probs with painful DTD after DD1 (massive tearing, bad scars, etc) but mine got better-ish after having some vaginal oestrogen (yep you read that right, pills for your fanny) so probably worth seeing your GP and asking for a gyno referral. Even IF it is "in your head" (google vaginismus - yep it's a real condition, BTDT too) the gyno will be able to treat you for that too. xxx
Feral toddler - yep got one here. PP Miss E also pinches, pokes, slaps and hits me too. Esp when I'm feeding her...not too sure how long we'll be BFing if this keeps up. Best thing is to speak calmly and try not to reward the behaviour by paying attn to it. Easier said than done when you're about to be de-eyeballed by a toddler finger. LOL xxx Hang in there.

Ok better go, it's getting late and I've got a big day doing the Ikea stomp tmrw! Loving being HOME again, OMG I just can't tell you how unbelievably good it is being here. We've got way too much stuff to fit into this house (E is tripping over her toys, no space anywhere) so guess what I'll be doing for the next month or so! Already got my stall booked at the kids and baby markets - gonna SELL SELL SELL my baby gear and make bags of $$$ ;). Well that's the plan anyway. Still haven't seen AF but what are the chances? About a zillion to 1? Right?

Clare, W has one sleep a day, it is hopefully around 11ish. So cute about wanting her doll wrapped. W keeps pushing up his sleeves and when I ask them what he has done to his sleeves he points at them and says 'Dada' - DH always pushes his sleeves up and I think W is being a copy cat. They are at such an adorable age!
Ange, 3 HOURS!!!! I would have gone mental!!!! I have enough Zen for one hour of bedtime monkey, then I get very cranky - DH cops it when I finally get out of the bedroom lol

Asha is driving me bananas, it sounds mean but she just wont leave me alone! she never plays with her toys, or hardly ever shes just forever getting into things ive told her not to doing the same thing ive told her not to over and over and over it drives me nuts! every day is the same with her dp leaves, she cries and then she starts with the mischief.. i know she misses him coz hes just gone back to work after two weeks holidays but i seriously cant cope with her!! im sooo drained and tired this preg and my temper is very short.. i feel so grumpy all the time, even when i am paying attention to her shell do something like throw something at me or hit me etc.. grrrrrrr..
anyway i know its all normal just wanted to have a winge!! bbl when ive calmed down

AFM: dress ups is the big thing in our house ATM...caught her trying to wrap herself up in a swaddle yesterday....and this morning she was a ghost with the blanket over her head and running through the house going woooo hooooooo whooo LOL! she also likes to put on bangles and her hat and gets us to put her shoes on too so she can play...
i am currently nursing a hangover from a dinner party that raged on last night so am feeling sorry for myself. hopefully it will help with the thesis writing ppfftttt!

:hug: Noni...I know that insanity feeling soooo well. DD1 was very much like that...it's because she's very people-focussed (I think). My best distractors were things like playing outside (all kids relax outdoors), water play (you can set up a tub of water and some cups and just sit there and watch). I love SuperNanny's play and walk away method, basically you set up an activity, sit down and play to get them hooked, then when they're absorbed you can nick off and do something for 10-15 mins in the same room.
Arte, no I don't think I'm tempting fate at all, really don't feel like I could be PG. But the crazy part of my brain wonders occasionally. Actually still have one test left, should just PIAC and get it over and done with LOL. Think my diet is so ridiculously low-fat right now that it's killed AF dead in her tracks.
MD- Good to see you back. :D When are you getting those stones seen to? Did you get it all sorted?
Arte- After 3 hours, i was more than cranky, i was feral. Oh and DH copped it. Just because i was feral and somehow it seemed like it was his fault!!! Poor DH i really am a cranky preggo cow. Have fun camping.
Nonie- hmmm i think it is the age for it. And i think the fuse gets ALOT shorted when you are preg. Some days L drives my up the wall. But i am getting to know what activities will keep her amused for longer than 2 minutes. I always thought i'd not put the TV on for kids, but i tell ya what playschool gets me a whole 30min to do whatever i need to, so it is a part of our day now. :redface: I even feel bad admitting it! lol
Clare- you'll have to remind me what a hangover is.... :p
Lu is having mostly one sleep from 11am for about and hour and a half. She then goes to bed for the night at about 6.30pm. If she has an arvo sleep bed time becomes a bit later.
Really should try and get this house sorted and get out some baby things! It all seems too hard atm. But i guess it isn't going to get any easier is it?!!

Sorry for no personals again. I just have no memory of whats been written. Please know that I am thinking of you all when I read your posts and am giving advice in my head. Although, I then find that someone has said the same thing soon after anyway ;)
AFM - I have a feral also. Shes into everything that I tell her not to. I have no energy to chase after her when we go out so I have to strap her into the trolley or pram (where she screams blue murder). If I let her walk then she'll suddenly change course and trip us all over. I have one of those kiddie harness things and that helps to a degree but once she reaches the end of it, she'll squeal the place down. SO embarrassing. I'm trying to avoid going out but have also had two nieces here (one at a time) since christmas so feel bad about making them stay home on their holidays.
We're off to the beach today once she wakes up so fingers crossed she burns off some energy.
Anyhoo...better go and do some of that fantastic housework! :wall: I hate walking on crackles and having bits stuck to the bottom of your feet.

K is still on 2 day sleeps. This week they have been short (ie less than an hour each time) but she still seems to need both.
MM - K has her milk in the take and toss sippy cups, which are different to what we use for water. It took DH two long nights when she was 9 months to get her back to sleep without a bfeed, then we had another 2 weeks of short (ie just 5min) before she was fully sleeping through the night. good luck with it all. BTW - We always use lube, makes it a lot more comfortable.
Rainy - hadn't realised L had weaned. We are still on 2 a day, although she has had days where she doesn't ask for it and often only ends up with one (but there is no pattern). I think she would be weaned pretty easily if we just did distraction, although it may mean DH would have to get up as well in the mornings as if it's just me she's can be a bit obsessive about it. Hope you've got good air conditioning up at your place with this weather lately!
MD - welcome back. Does DD grope you when bfeeding? I am really getting over that part of it. Maybe in a month we might start active weaning if she hasn't already stopped by then. Sounds like those stones are still creating issues!
Noni - good luck with the scan.
AFM - all good here. DH was taking K to the pool today so that should be fun. I think they have been having a ball at home together this week, he's going to miss her when he goes back to work.
MD: oh on on you being unwell!!! was it the stones giving you grievances? but YAY on the morphine. noice.
test baby test. but quite possible that AF has decided to leave the building what with the move and fat free diet, she needs to get her head around that one!
cally: good on your DH for taking her to the pool. my poor DH cant swim that well so doesnt do the whole pool thing with her. he sits on the edge and paddles his feet...
thanks girls for the insight on the day sleeps. i really think that leila is heading towards one a day but ATM it is a bit too much for her. on the days that it is only one she'll sleep for 2.5 hours. but if it is two a day it ranges from 1.5-2 hours each. so i guess she is missing some sleep time. and then she is back in bed by 7pm.
oh a great thing that i came across the other day for Leila to drink her milk (she never really liked it from the bottle or sippy cups) are the long-life milk poppers. she loves drinking them!
