Hi girls!
Kate: oohhh I too am green with envy on your spotlight bargain!!!!! sounds like a good start to 2009 to me!
bummer that you'll be in fiji in april! we are going over in june/july! would have been cool to meet somewhere exotic LOL! we could have sipped banana daquiris at the pool bar, while the boys took the kids! LOL! ahhhh, could do with some relaxation!
Arte: i think the 'omg what have we got ourselves into' thoughts are uttered by all parents!! LOL! especially after a particularly trying day or night...but i like to remind myself that even before i had leila i had crap days, but at least now i have her to cuddle ITMS...it'll all be worth it when you see that little squirmy, leggy body with heart beating away on the sonographer's screen...mwahhhhh!
Andie: i think it's a great idea to do the research, so that if it has to happen, you'll already be able to know where to start looking for help. if you were to leave it until the moment where it was called quits, not only would you be really upset, but also be facing loads of pressure to find the right information. this way the research has been done and you can hit the ground running on the admin side, giving yourself a bit more breathing space to take care of yourself and boys emotionally IMO. sending you loads of hugs, living in limbo land can be so draining.
MD: oh, so it's a virgo thing to pack the toys away....was wondering where that came from :o
AFM: well i have decided that i NEED to wean Leila. she has become really demanding and at times rude about the b/f. it is starting to cause some real behavioural issues and she has also started for the last week to wake up for a midnight feed and will not sleep until she gets it. so for my sanity, i will start to cut the feeds down. i am pretty bummed that it had to be me doing the proactive thing as L was naturally weaning herself until my GP told me to boost the feeds up again when she was ill. ever since then she has been asking for in excess of 3 feeds a day...and now my bb's hurt like crazy from the extra supply and that has made me grumpy. humph.
any hints on how to do this whole weaning thing would be greatly appreciated LOL!
-
Banana daquiris sound very tempting right about now...maybe we should have a BB meet up in Fiji lol.
Clare - I wish I could offer you some tips with the weaning. I hear you on the night feeding, it gets tiring after awhile too.
Andie - I guess time will tell.
-
I wonder if I could extend my stay in Fiji Clare to coincide with your trip? I'm sure I could handle sitting by a pool in a tropical oasis for a few more weeks. lol
Now the BB Fiji meet sounds awesome...I'm keen
Cleaning and pedanticness (new word made up I think, juat for BB) is definately a Virgo thing. I'm a Virgo/Libra (on the cusp) and am very pedantic about where things go. Where as Sarah is a Libra and no hope for her to clean up. Gotta keep working on that though.
DH and I went to Whitewater World today and had an awesome time. Went on all the rides (looking like Migalo, the white whale, after beaching himself) and had a blast. Got a bit spoilt as well in the shop. They had Billabong, Rip curl etc so I got a new handbag and a beach towel for myself and DH got himself some boardies and a some thongs. And for Sarah we got her a hooded beach towel, a Dora pop top bottle with a strap and a little snack cup screwed on the bottom (like the tupperware ones). As well as ANOTHER pair of Havianas for her with little lady birds on the straps. Would have got her a little Rip Curl rashie but there were none in her size. Crowds got busy after lunch so we left after hitting all the rides. My mum offered to have Sarah for the whole day so that was perfect. I wasn't really looking forward to having to tag team the rides with Dh while the other sat in Wiggle Bay all day.
As for weaning, I'm thinking I may need to start doing that soon. Didn't want to but its getting harder to put her to sleep. I still feed to sleep and as soon as her tush hits the cot her eyes open wide as saucers and she starts babbling happily away to me. I have to try to get her to fall asleep on her own, its easier at night because the room is pitch black but during the day I think I'll have no hope. She went down pretty easily for mum today twice so she can do it just not for me. So am thinking if I drop the booby then she will settle into a better routine. And fingers crossed will get out of this 4.30am wake up each morning.
Anyhoo, better go to bed. Heading home tomorrow so have to pack the car first, which will be an effort in itself due to everything we've brought AND her xmas pressies from my family, then will hit the hay I think.
Night all...sleep well

hi girls
can i just ask, what does fungal nappy rash look like? and what do you do to treat it? L has these weird sort of blistery pimply looking things- they don't seem to bother him or seem sore at all...hmmm not sure what they are, can anyone help?? otherwise i'll take him to dr on monday...
also, what's the best thing to use on excema? he has a bit on the back of his neck that he keeps itching
-
Rainy: sounds like the nappy rash Alex had just before I started toilet training him & then the boys ended with Hand Foot & Mouth .. if you notice blisters anywhere else on the body, pls get L checked .. i do know that when some babes have a reaction to some foods they can get bad nappy rash (my friend found this out when she gave her daughter vinegar on something) .. use a really good cream & try to keep it dry & air it (that wat dr told me with Alex's)
Clare: thanks. plus I have to apply for a copy of the marriage certificate from QLD cos I never got around to getting it in the first place (didn't see the point, I hadn't changed my name & we had the ceremonial one)
Kate & Clare: good luck on the weaning. Sorry I can't help except maybe suggest that you can start with the boob & halfway thro switch to the bottle & gradually decrease the lenght of time on the boob.
AFU: boys been sleeping in since the new year has came in .. last nite jack was standing by his cot chucking a tanty & I helped him in then went to dish dinner up, went back to him & he was asleep. He stirred a bit later & i have him 300ml of formula, then he woke up at 6.20, 200ml formala put him back to sleep till 9.10 .. i only woke up at 20 to 9 after Alex had been roaming the house for ages, or wht seemed like ages.
Jack likes to copy Alex & doesn't want to wear a nappy .. he comes up to me whilst I was making them toast, & pee's on my foot!
I just realised I have no idea what the starsigns are for the boys!
I should be cleaning today, have a friend coming down tomorow to stay, but I have no energy absolutely wat so ever. House isn't dirty, it's just messy.
Then Yst I looked over to the corner of my ex's stuff, & the boxes he got into, he's left for me to repack (& seal) etc ...
I think i'm going to make a coffee ... bbl
-
Hi girls!
Kate: i think we need to have a BB meet in fiji definitely!! how awesome would that be??!!!
i am jealous of your water park fun! i wish i could go there i love those places. unfotunately DH aint so keen, pppfffft, academics, not very 'wild' let's just say LOL!
Rainy: i swear by the lucas pawpaw cream (the one in the red tub) for the eczema. i used to get it and dermatitis as a kid and it really can do the trick, it also takes out the itching.
not sure on the rash though. L at times has had pimply weepy rash and i have had to get out the am-o-lin to clear it up. i think Noni has had to deal with the intense nappy rash with Asha so i think she's the one to ask....from memory....
Andie: oooh so jealous of your little ones sleep in!! maybe a growth spurt huh?
thanks for the tips on weaning. i think distraction will be our main defense ATM to try and bring it back to just the 2 a day (am and pm). so we'll see how it goes. my poor bbs are so achey though. urghh, the joys!
pmsl about him not wanting to wear his nappy! my friend's boy is the same and just rips it off. we have had the case of the steaming poo on the rug at her house!! LOL! she was so mortified that i witnessed it! but hey, kids will be kids and it is something to stockpile for those 21st speeches.
AFM: all good here, apart from achey bbs. Leila slept through last night, so already i feel vindicated on cutting down the feeds. DH is a bit jumpy this morning though so have sent him out for a walk to catch some vitamin D....then i shall drag him to DFO for some sales shopping LOL!
we both start back at work on monday. i am looking forward to it as this will be our first year living and working all in the same town. i am also in my last year of this darned PhD so am looking forward to applying for real jobs in the not too distant future! the guilty side is that miss L will be at kindy 3 days a week, luckily she loves the place, but i think i will feel that extra day...
-
Clare - Yep I know what you mean I would be worrying about that extra day at 'school' as well, thats just what us mummies do. However I dont think it will take long for you to settle in to the new work/school routine. What makes it much easier is the fact that L loves going. She will benefit from it so dont let it worry you too much. How exciting is that, you will have a 'real' job very soon. My 'real' job is still about 4 years away and thats if I do uni FT, so even longer I'd say....how depressing lol. Yay for L sleeping through keep up the good work.
Andie - Had to have a giggle at J peeing on your foot hehe.
Rainy - When M had excema the doc prescribed a low dose steroid cream and it well and truly cleared it up. As for the rash, M had something similar I think and I used canestan on it.
Kate - Wow you had a real spend up day, good on you! Love the hooded towels for kids they are gorgeous. Dont worry we were feeding to sleep (bottle) up to 3 weeks ago, when I decided enough was enough lol - well really I decided it was enough because she wakes during the night for us to give her a bottle and I thought teaching her to fall asleep on her own may stop that. Anyway I pop her on the play mat with a pillow under her head and she drinks her own bottle, I put her to bed wide awake, & most nights she will drop off. It so far has been easier that I expected. I hope its just as easy for you.
I tell you what, I've just about had enough of these middle of the night feeds. Wed & Thur night M slept right through & had her bottle at 8am each morning. We celebrated thinking yippeeeee she has outgrown the middle of the night bottle. Not to be, last night she woke at 1am and whinged till just after 3am, when sleep deprived mummy finally gave in. :( I tried everything, water in the sippy cup, water in the bottle, cuddles & pats etc. As soon as she finished that bottle she fell asleep and is still asleep and its 9am. I am thinking about ringing sleep school on Monday for some tips...
-
thanks for your advice girls
andie- i've put some daktarin nappy rash cream on it, and if it's not cleared by monday i'll def take him to the dr. what were the other symptoms with hand, foot, mouth?? i really really hope it's not that- especially as we've got a special weekend away booked for next weekend.
lol about peeing on your foot, they're so funny aren't they? what is the actual age difference b/w your two boys?
hugs about all the nasty divorce stuff you have to think about...i'm still holding out a romantic hope that you two will get back together, sorry if that's a bit cheeky!
hayley- the sleeping thing is a nightmare isn't it? L only sleeps through now and then, most nights he wakes but thankfully only needs a cuddle back to sleep.
how's everything with pita mil? i think you and i must have done something really evil in a past life to deserve our mils LOL
clare- i've actually got a tub of the red paw-paw that was given to me before L was born, never been opened so i might have to give it a go. i really wanted to avoid using a heavy strength cortisone or anything, so i'll try that first.
so with what you were saying about the housing market the other day, doesn't that mean it would be a good time to buy as things are cheaper? or isn't there much to choose from as people aren't selling?
afm- well i bought a lovely new leather couch from freedom this morning in their after xmas sale. i'd been hunting for one for a few months and then i saw an ad in the newspaper this morning saying that one of the styles i had my eye on at freedom was reduced to $1400 so we toddled on over there, only to find that it was the same couch but in a cheaper leather that was $1400- the one i really wanted was actually $1600 ggrrr, so annoying and misleading- didn't mention it at all in the ad....anyways after much umming and ahhing...and the fact that they had it in stock, i decided to still buy it. it's floorprice was $2000 so it was still reduced, but originally i only wanted to spend about $1200 iykwim? always seems to happen to me! it's a lovely couch though.
lewis did a poo while we were there and can you believe they had no changing facilities whatsoever, so i had to change him on the concrete floor of the ladies room. how hard is it to put one of those cheap folding change tables in there?
anyway..on the way out of the shop he broke a ceramic toilet cleaner so i thought 'oh well, stuff it' and we just left it...norti, i know ;)
-
Hi Girls,
Well ok I am now getting excited about going away. Got out all the suitcases and they are now on the table and have pulled out some winter cloths. Poor Livi she doesnt have very much winter cloths at all that fit any way so looks like she will be getting a whole new winter wardrobe whilst away.
Fiji sounds great and those banana daquiris sound yummy.
Kate- Glad you had a great day at waterworld
MM- I know how hard that can be but from experience with my boys with everything it usually took about a week of being strong and not caving till it worked for me. My mum has a 60th anniversary calais and loves it.
Clare- Yep I am back to work on monday till wed then I am having thurs and fri off to clean the house and sheets and stuff before we leave on Sat.
Rainy- Canesten anti fungal cream I use on Livi and it works.
Well girls I may not have time next week to get on so if I dont I just want to say
Hope everyone is ok and all babies sleep all night. I am sure I will have lots to tell when I get back.
Love to all
-
Hello everyone!
Looks like I've missed a lot! I'm going to TRY and catch up over the next few days!
Hope everyone is well...
Clare & MM I need to wean Loki too! The only time he really feeds now is to go to sleep during the day and for comfort if we're somewhere new..
I took a HPT this morning and....
There was a VERY faint second line!!! I'm going to take another on Monday morning! I'll let you all know how it goes! Looks like December was our month again :D
Have to go start getting dinner ready will try and come back later for more catching up..
-
OH WOW Nella!!!!! Fingers crossed that come Monday you have a darker line and a new bubby on the way!
Man I have been so slack with posting lately! I'm just in a mood where I much rather my own company and it's flowing onto here too - so I'm really sorry I can't give you all the time and attention you deserve.
All's well here, had a very busy few days over new years and I'm totally over it. I did decide to go shopping on Monday and I wished I stayed home. The kids were horrendous and they are NEVER like that in public. I even threw a tanty of my own in Coles and started crying to make them behave themselves LOL. Worked a treat too I must say ;) I had co-operative kids the rest of the day.
And I got Alister's haircut!!! Short back and sides LOL. I will post a before and after pick later tonight. I also got myself a mobile phone finally - I'm now no longer a plebian and am up there with the Jones ;) Nothing flash, just a pre-paid one cause I rarely use it. So that was my Christmas present to myself. It's also my birthday next Saturday and we are all going to wagga on Wed and I said to Lindsay all casual like, that it was my birthday and that maybe he could ask dad to take them shopping for a present for me. He asked me what sort of things I would like and I said to tell dad that I'd like some Pandora - Lindsay has no idea what it even is LMAO. I'm hoping that his innocence will be the closer on that one.
-
oohhh nella congratulations!!! what fantastic news!
i can't believe how many of us in here are pg again, i love it, makes me feel like i'm not such an idiot!
sherie- we've missed you around here :) i know what you mean though, i go through stages where i don't feel like posting. can't wait to see alister's haircut.
well it feels like we're well and truely heading towards the business end ofthings around here iykwim? got the doula coming around here on wed to talk about my birth...i can't believe it's that soon!!! soon you'll have to al start sending me vibes so i don't go overdue ok??
-
Funny you should say that G cause I was thinking about you last night and about going over due etc. I'll definately send some 'on time or at least not too late' vibes your way LOL.
-
Thanks :)
Trill glad they behaved after your tanty!
Will be sending labour vibes to you! Yeah if the second test is a bfp there'll be a 2 year gap which I've always said was the perfect gap to me! :)
I'll have to go back and see how everyones xmas/new years was! Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
-
Got my new car today, its silver and sexy...woo woo!
Rainy - No not long to go now at all, 32 weeks that amazing how fast the time has gone. I am getting excited big time for you now. Congrats on the new lounge, sounds v nice. Havent heard anything from my MIL except one email that just said sorry, no hi or bye etc. DP says that means she is still angry. Whoops!
Trillian - Hahaha thats a good one, maybe I'll have to remember the crying trick myself.
Nella - CONGRATS!
Leemar - Not long to go now at all till you take off. I hope you & your family have a wonderful time!
-
Hi girls!
Leemar: have a wonderful time!
Sherie: i had to laugh about your tantrum it reminded me of that ad on tv where the boy is about to chuck a tanty, but the mum beats him to it LOL! love it!
leila also needs a haircut big time. her gorgeous red locks are starting to defy gravity. she looks like she has stepped right out of one of madonna's 80s video clips with the power perm...:o
Rainy: you are going to be amazing sista. are you going to have an induction acupuncture treatment? and look, you could even go before! miss L came 2 weeks early and surprised us all...
is your doula nice? i really want to have one for next time, as well as a post natal doula...
MM: woot woo on the sexy car!!
AFM: well we braved DFO today and low and behold DH bought and spent more than i did!!! WTF??! i tried very hard to find things but everything is only in limited sizes. and it appears that i am much thinner than i thought. better watch that as i had no idea and dont want ppl to think i starve myself LOL! that said, FCUK had quite a few things so i bought a cute cardigan and some shorts (true melbourne combo me thinks!). DH bought a pair of mont blanc sunnies and a pair of rm williams boots. and leila of course scored big time at cotton on kids (gotta love that store!).
the weaning front is travelling quite nicely. tonight i fed her STRAIGHT after dinner and she had one boob then gave up. she then played for about an hour and i popped her straight to bed...and it worked!!! YAY!! :leap: so today we only had two short feeds ans she seemed quite content...watch this space! LOL!
-
Woohoo Nella...I'll definately be watching this space for news.
Hope you are feeling more zen like Sherie...I love the tanty.
We drove home from Brissie today. Well I did, seeing as DH forgot to renew his license. Idiot! So I had to drive the 5 hours not including breaks for Sarah and was shattered when I got back. Didn't help that the bed at mums was shocking so limited sleep last night on top of that. Was fun going back through all of Sarahs pressies and everything I had brought in Brissie...just had to find space for it all. Got to do a huge re-arrange of Sarahs room, I think :wall:
I'm off to bed now to catch up on sleep on a decent mattress. Night everyone....and sorry to those I missed with personals. Absolutely no memory tonight...think I left it in Brissie this morning...
-
Clare:
God I hope the sleep ins aren't growing spurts!, tho it usually is with these boys. As it is, Alex has size 3 pj's are to small. Plus I think Jack is teething as he keeps screaming.
Yes I get the poo's all thro the house too, more when I don't remember to put jocks back on Alex from his last accident.
Hayley:
Jack has a bedtime bottle and occasionally one in the morning (or if he's not eating i'll give him one at lunch) but he knows at nite that a bottle means bedtime. Like tonight, I made the bottle, gave it to him & he went straight for the cot. Tho it was a routine he set himself ages ago, where the only place he wld take a bottle was the cot.
Wat size bottle does M have before going down to bed? & is it all formula? Does she eat much for dinner?
Rainy:
HFM appeared on Jack to what I thought was a rash then in a few days they turned to blisters. No other real symptoms. Hope its not though
Boys are 1yr 3 wks & 6days difference (jack was delivered two weeks 1 day early).
I am hoping so too. I just guess I have to give him his space & hope that he doens't fall for anyone else, or screw up badly, & in the meantime, just be a caring, genuine friend.
OMG on the no changing facilities, tho I had a tendancy to do it in the middle of the shop, esp when there was two to cart around.
Leanne:
hope you have a safe trip
Nella:
Congrats (I'm hoping). That is awesome news. Were you excited?
AFM:
OMG what is it with Jack having to wake Alex up! Alex was having this huge sleep today & like usual, Jack wakes him up. Good thing Alex was able to resettle down.
I have a friend arriving tomorrow & my house is so untidy :( I Blame it on being so sick this month. Talking bout bing sick, have horrid reflux since Oct & the last time I remember it like this I was preg with Jack. Damn mud cake!!
well nite nite from me .. catch you 2mrw
-
hi girls,
well i am rather sheepish today...
after my leaps of joy all yesterday Leila gave us a night to remember. she woke at 11.30am and screamed to the heavens until almost 2am. i have NO IDEA what this is! in all honesty the only times that she has woken up through the night since dropping her newborn feeds was when something was up (ie being sick). but now, nada, zip. i am at a complete loss and suffering big time from sleep deprivation. in the end i told DH that i couldnt go into her room again as i was so shattered so he took over and it worked for him. he did arm himself with panadol though so maybe something is bugging her?
phew, sorry about the me me me rant there!
Rainy: i have found VIC to be really bad with providing parent room facilities. i have been in NSW, ACT and QLD and they all trump this state no end. yesterday at DFO we were changing L in one of 2 rooms and both the bins were overflowing. there was poo encrusted wipes all over the floor, the microwave looked as thought it could kill and the bench was hazardous. we had cloth nappies and of course i forgot a plastic bag to pack it in, so had to go scrounging around in the dirty supply cupboard for a bin liner to wrap it in. so gross. next time i am determined out of protest to change her in the frikkin walkway (i did it at melbourne central one time! LOL!).
Andie: he he he we have friends coming here in about 20 minutes and i am nowhere near ready. we just woke up, the house is a mess, the dog needs a walk and leila is covered in honey...urrghh.
we are off to brunetti's today to eat away our tiredness...
-
girls girls, we are about to fall off the page!! :o
so this is a saving message and also a quick question to all the wise womyn...
does life membership get me a cool avatar as well?????? (BTW, sherie: LURVE the new one!).
AFM: all good here. filled up the shell pool for leila and we had a paddle, she loved the idea of the nudie rudie . the dog also decided to join in, so you can imagine the sight: Leila and a 50 kilo dog in one half of a shell pool splashing like it's goin' outta fashion!
also dh and i have decided that sept 09 is the beginning of operation make a baby! so that is exciting and he also started a name list! :o will the man calm down ppl!
-
Just a quick one from me to say hi. Sorry for being such a slack buddy, just haven't felt very chatty.
Clare woo hoo on TTC this year, my fingers are crossed that all goes well and it happens quickly.
Rainy sending you loads of labour vibes hun, I hope it all goes well when the time comes.
I will try and catch up and be on a little more this week. I hope you are all well.
-
Oz - Thats ok I go through phases as well. Lately I've been doing pretty alright with keeping up! Are you still TTC? Hope L is well.
Clare - I'm pretty sure membership does get you an av. How exciting for TTC being set in stone for September. That will be a nice age gap. Your DH sounds so excited how sweet. Oh you poor thing what a night, good on your DH for helping out. Sometimes we never know what the problem is either, but if lots of cuddles and the trusty bottle of milk doesnt work, we assume its teething pain & use panadol too.
Andie - I'm pretty sure M knows bottle at bed means she'll be in bed shortly as well. She has her dinner, then about an hr later has her bedtime bottle of 240ml of milk. She pretty much goes down to sleep well. Its just the middle of the night feed and I know I just need to tough it out for a week or so but I am terrible when it comes to sleep deprivation. Ohhh I didnt know that sleep ins can be a sign of growth spurts!
Kate - Hope you got a good nights sleep. I just did a cull on Maddie's toys as well, after all the new toys from christmas.
Well I've just finished our wedding invites, they are going out tomorrow. We have invited just under 60 people, so should be a fun night. I feel a bit worried though as all along we said we wouldnt do the whole gift registry/wishing well thing. However I've been talked into it by a couple of family members, and have added a little card just simply saying we dont at all expect a gift as your presence alone is all we want, however if you feel the need a small donation towards our honeymoon would be appreciated (not those exact words). I didnt put them in all the invites though, I missed out a few people that I know are not flushed with cash. I just hope people dont take it the wrong way? What do you ladies honestly think?
-
Yep, life or plat membership will get you a spunky av of your very own.
Wow, that's very exciting about having a definate time to start the baby makin' LOL. So what names does he have on his list so far? I wish my DH were that keen.
H, I don't think it's wrong to ask and to also be selective about who you've given the card to. Its so hard to know what to get someone for their wedding when they've been together so long already kwim? so this gives people the chance to still *give* you something they know you really want. The one time I refused to do the wishing well thing was for a friend of ours and his bride to be asked that we all chip in so they could buy bricks for the house SHE wanted built and we didn't cause we hated her and had a feeling she wouldn't be sticking around. Unfortunately we were right and she didn't stick around, but at least our friend has a pretty flash house to live in now LOL.
Katie, I've been like that too lately with the posting, so you're not alone.
-
hi everyone - I"M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!not even going to try to catch up on evertyhing will just jump in now if thats ok!
BUT HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO ARTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay i am so excited for you. xxx
-
WOOT WOOT on the new avi Sherie. Must help being able to sleep with the creator ;)
MM - I think its fine with what you've done for your invites. It can sometimes be a huge hassle trying to figure out what the newlyweds need when they aren't as 'pure' as the true newlyweds back in the olden days. As in living in sin...;) DH and I did that as well and we let it be known (okay, we asked our closest family members to slip the word to the other guests on the sly) that we didn't need anything. Nothing like opening presents to find either duplicates or something horrid that is hard to re-gift.
PAP - welcome back...not that I can really talk. I,too, went AWOL for a bit. I love having this place to be able to pop back into when I can and need to.
Okay can I put this 'ME' post in here and ask for some BB help?
Sarah still gets fed to sleep but I'm trying to stop that and at night it seems to work but I dont think I have a snowballs chance in hell getting it to work for her 2 day time sleeps. At night she gets given about 200mls of cows milk to top her up because she is usually tired and falls asleep too early on the breast. She also wakes at 4.30 every morning and its hard to get her past that. I usually try patting her back to sleep which can take 30mins or so to only get an extra hour out of her. I'm thinking weaning might stop her needing the breast to sleep so will get into a better routine. Last night I put her down at 7.30pm after her 200mls of cows milk and a very quick slurp from me. She cracked it for about 15mins until I went back in there and just sat near the door and didn't make eye contact. I occasionally shushed her if she started making whingy noises. She was then asleep within 10mins. YIPPEE! She still woke at 4.30, so I patted her and kept my hand on her back (sorta like holding a vicious animal down...lol) and she was back asleep after 30mins. She woke 10mins later :wall: and I forgot that I hadn't put the cot side back up so went in there and lay her down again. After a bit of fidgeting she turned her head to the wall and was lying there pretty still so I left the room and she must have fallen asleep. She then woke at 7am. :o I'm sort of happy with this in a way because I know that she doesn't wake in the middle of the night but I need her to get past this 4.30 wakeup. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I just go cows milk and wean her completely? Or should I just work on her night routine before removing her day sleep routine (of feeding to sleep).
Oops...that was longer than I thought...sorry
-
Hi girls!
thanks for the info on the Avs...will have to join up!
Sherie: yeah the man is super keen, he would like to start TTC now, but we both know that after my battle with PND we need to take things slow and just enjoy the pnd-free time IYKWIM.
his list so far is; (for boys) rocco and nico and (for girls) willow...i quite like his list so at least there are no disputes so far! LOL!
kate: we are in a similar situation. I am trying with all my might to wean leila off the feeds, particularly at night. she doesnt really take that much as she is full after dinner and her sippy cup of milk. it is purely comfort. so i am trying to teach her the joys of cuddles for night-time comfort.
as for the early wake-up. L was like this for AGES. to beat it we had to join it and i fed her back to sleep...probably not the advice you are looking for but that's what we did. i didnt talk to her or change her nappy it was a very quiet affair.
when she started waking later (like 6.30am), DH got up and fed her breakfast and they played quietly for 30 minutes and then she usually went back to bed until 8ish...
PP: great to see you back in action! how are the tonsils? i have been thinking of you! last time i ended up in hospital with it as my entire lymphatic system collapsed. it can be a tough illness to have. how about N?
how was the rest of your holiday!?
AFM: back at work. feeling a bit sad as Leila is no longer in the baby room. she did look a little lost at first, but her b/f Max came up and they cuddled so it was all good after that.
i on the other hand, almost bawled! she is so big and yet so little still IYKWIM. and this time last year i was in the throes of severe PND so can't really remember how i felt, but this time was quite emotional! ho hum, got over it pretty quickly when i had my first toddler-free latte!! LOL!

hi again
clare woo hoo on the ttc, it feels good just to know when doesnt it! so gorgeous your dh is so keen - and cute names too, i esp like willow and nico. i think rocco reminds me too much of a dodgy guy i snogged back when i was 17, but thats another story!! wow leila in the big kids room, man they are growing up! i dont think N could go in there yet - he still isnt walking so would get stomped all over... he is being so gorgeous now - a total chatterbox, it kind of freaks me out the things he says - points at everything now and says 'whadis' - ie what's this? and whadat (whats that) - asks for 'bottled water' - the snob! and copies evrything we say all the time - learns about 5 words a day. he has the same word for noodle and doodle which amused us no end when we went out for chinese!!!
thanks for asking re the tonsilitis - it seems to be starting to get a bit better now, but has been an awful few weeks. mum came to the cpast for a few days and made me a big batch of chicken soup which helped!!! drugs would have been better LOL!
kate - when i weaned N from night time feeding that was the hardest bit for me. i ended up bfeeding him before bed and then not til morning - kind of 'cold turkey' - get rory to do the bulk of settling at night for the next week or so til she is used to it? i found getting the day sleeps without feeding a bit easier - i still cuddle him to sleep at every sleep (or dh does) and we have only just started to try to get him down awake and pat him to sleep. once he was weaned i think his nights got a bit better... but he was waking many times until rcently. the last 2 weeks he has been very good - mainly sleeping through from about 7.30 to about 5 or 6.
MM i have been thinking so much of your ILs and their baby. i am still in shock about it. i read what you wrote to DH and he was so upset and also keeps mentioning it. when is the wedding again? i think it sounds good what you did re the gift cards, it is so hard isnt it!
had my 12 wk scan when we were away - so exciting!! baby was not moving much at 1st (hmm like his/her brother) but then woke up and wriggled around like mad. it feels a lot more real now!!
-
Hello ladies, I'm still in severely-restricted internet land but wanted to pop in and say hello.
Trill  on your horror day out at the shops. I think the kids pick up on the restless mood in the crowds sometimes. We noticed ppl were really edgey out there but a few days later went up to town again and ppl were walking and smiling and chatting (much more relaxed). Glad your tanty worked but it would be nice to not have to resort to that! Oh I got my splaydes finally PMSL!
Nella - oh wow CONGRATULATIONS :cheer: So happy for you! Are you going to the drs to get it confirmed, dates etc? Sooo exciting!
Clare, the extra day in CC will be fine and you are absolutely doing the right thing! Lucky L she has a bestie in the new room -that's great.
Re the waking up at night - it must be an age thing since DD1 started to wake frequently around the same age (I remember it like it was yesterday LOL) - I think they relate to the experience of going to bed and waking up and mummy not being there differently than when they are younger, kwim? It was around this age that we started to cut out the night feeds by sending DH in to shoosh her down with a small drink of water or milk in a sippy cup if necessary - after about 2 weeks she stopped getting up except for an early morning one (5.30-6.30) when I was quite happy to feed her in bed and snooze off for as long as we could again. Missy E has started a bit of night waking too but I think it has more to do with the weird climactic conditions (this place is 100% aircon with no natural air ventilation) and out of whack party-season bedtimes than anything else.
Moving back into our house on Wed - going up to get the keys tmrw - OMG I am so excited and completely nerve-wracked at the same time. I keep remembering all these strange litle details about the house that I'd forgotten but they're coming back the closer we get to moving in LOL. WHEW also got my uni acceptance today - looks like I posted it just in the nick of time ;).
Leanne's probably left already but wanted to say have a FANTASTIC time, we're all dead jealous.
Rainy good luck with the doula on Wed, hope you've got a really good connection with her!
Also, I'm looking for corporate sponsers so if anyone wants to fund my trip to Fiji for the BB get-together there, PM me :P!
ETA - PP I cracked right up when I read about Noah's noodle/doodle - I can imagine how hilarious that was!

Hayley:
lots of sleep give me an idication the boys are growing & I noticed it today trying to do the carseat buckle up. Daycare mum even commented on how they have grown in two weeks.
What if you start substituting the nite feeds with water?
I think these days, it is far more accepted that a wishing well is done. May be a bit late, an alternative could have been to do a registry with a travel agent.
Clare:
woohoo on the TTC month.
paddling pool sounded like fun. I have to make sure no dry washing is online when the boys get ing theirs.
 for you & L. Glad that her b/f was there to help her out, so cute with the cubbles
Kate:
I'm sorry, I'm as confused as you are about Sarah. Could it be that cow's milk mite be too light for her to sleep thro the nite?
MD:
How exciting on being able to move back in soon.
Congrats on your Uni acceptance.

Boys had daycare today & cos they aren't going to Tues & Thurs mum's this week, today mum offered to take them.
Going to South West Rocks on Wednesday & going to take the boys for a play at the playground & down to the beach. Should be fun & interesting.
Went to a dif beach today with a g/f of mine & we just sat there talking & laughing then we wandered around town till we picked the boys up
bbl .. jack is up fussing

Back from holiday, missed the last flight home but they bumped us onto the next flight free of charge so it worked out alright in the end.
Not much chance of catching up on everything, I have only had a quick skim through
Clare, could L's unsettled night be your intro into the wonderful world of molars? W has only ever cried at night for a feed but was up screaming last week when his molars were bothering him. That change room sounds disgusting! I would just change W on one of the courtesy couches if the facilities were that gross lol How is the weaning going? How are you going about it? I would like to wean but if I deny him he just hovers around whinging until he gets it lol
MD, hope the move into your new/old house goes well. Is H o.k with starting a new school next year?
Rainy, can't believe how soon your baby is coming!!!
PAP, N sounds very talkative! I thought W was going well with one new word a day, but five is amazing! What a clever boy.
Ozstar, I think Jan might be your month, we have had at least one announcement a month for a while now.
MM, I also keep thinking about your nephew. I just can't believe they think it is better to leave him sitting alone in his cot half the day rather than put him in care!
My holiday was average, the beach was nice, the IL's annoyed me no end. They have a dog that snaps at people so I didn't want it anywhere near W. So DH and I were just quietly putting it outside. It turned into a big drama because BIL (who had a head injury 5 years ago and carries the dog like a security blanket) thought it was a personal attack against him. FIL kept saying we had to be flexible when it comes to D, and to compromise but where is the compromise in a snapping dog and a small child? Just risk him being bitten sometimes when D wanted the dog inside? They were putting D's happiness (aka not losing the plot) ahead of W's safety. I usually ignore the way the cater for his every whim but not this time. So we all ended up having a huge fight. I am so glad we aren't going back there any time soon.

Hi there
good to see you back Arte - is your news sinking in yet?
sounds like a bit of a nightmare with the ILs... as if you can leave a snappy dog near W. i think ppl sometimes forget what having a baby/toddler can be like and what they need.
lucky you got bumped onto the next flight too.
not much news here... in a really bad mood today, no real reason why i just am!!
n has been pimching and biting me a lot lately - onlyme too, quite hard not to take it personally... anyone else got this prob?
-
Arte: shame on the IL's. Hope your trip was okay otherwise.
Dropped the boys off to daycare & went down to big W with measurements. When we were there yst I found Elmo blinds, all sizes, down to 30$ so went back today & it cost me 120 insted of 210!! & I was only going to get the plain blinds. Boys will be happy once I can get them put up!
Supposed to be doing housework today but my eyes are so heavy I can barely keep them open let alone have the energy!!
bbl .. going to watch Quincy ME ..

hi girls, how are we all?
i took lewis to dr and it turns out he's got school sores that are a bit infected. yuck! anyway he's on antibiotics and they seem to be clearing up already.
is anyone else's bubs driving them insane atm? idk if lewis is really naughty or what but he is running me absolutey raggad! i can't look away for a second, he just wants to destroy everything and spreads stuff all over the house. evrything is a battle- even changing his nappy is an ordeal.
andie- good score on the blinds. i'm sure the boys will love them. i can't believe how close your boys are in age, you do so well! do the boys absolutely love each other?
pap- can't help you on biting and pinching. my friend's dd does that a lot though, and it's not too nice!
are you going to find out bub's sex at 20wks?
arte- your ILs were sooo out of line, i can't believe it. i'd be getting dh to have a big chat to them before i'd take w back there.
md- enjoy getting back into your house tomorrow. how exciting!
clare- i can't believe L's not in baby room anymore- she's all grown up. best of luck when you start to ttc- i think that will be a nice age gap.
-
Hey ladies, i'm joining the lurking but really in the mood for posting group. :p
Just wanted to say Rainy- You could have just described Lu. She is being a real handful. Molars arn't helping. i dred every nappy change and sleep time atm. Fingers crossed this phase doesn't last long. i guess being over tired and preggers doesn't ehlp either. ;)
-
Rainy:
I hear you on L!! Jack is getting more adventurous lately. I used to be able to say to him "do you want a smack" & he wld stop or watever, now, he runs & keeps going.
Thanks darl, I appreci8 the encouragement & support.
Going to see if I can put the blinds up on Thurs whilst they at daycare, just have to find a drill etc!!
-
ange- maybe we need to meet up and let them go crazy together. i feel like i can't even take him anywhere normal anymore- like lunch or shopping or anything. it's like trying to eat with an octopus at your table that just wants to grab and smash everything. luckily dad came up today so i ccould go to safeway without him, he's pulling potplants out and can reach up and open doorhandles now so he turns the washing machine and dishwasher on. he's insane!
andie- i honestly don't know how you do it, i take my hat off to you.
dh is still at work and i have had the longest day today- going through the whole dinner, bath, bed routine is so much harder with no back up.
-
Rainy L is a feral at the moment, it seems every other child I know around this age is too (which makes me feel slightly better lol).
Shame we dont all live closer, we could have a big meet up and let the kids go nuts and tire themselves out.
-
Dont worry Rainy I too have a feral child atm!
Arte - Ohhh your inlaws are thick! Sorry lol, but no way would I be leaving a snappy dog inside near a young child. Thats just crazy to put the dog before W! My parents have a friendly dog, yet every time I go over with M they make sure the dog is put outside & kept away from her, because you just never know with dogs & its not worth the risk.
Clare - Are you nervous about pnd with the next bubba? Will the doctors etc do anything extra to care for you during pregnancy, or just keep an extra special eye open? Sorry if thats being personal? I LOVE the name Rocco. I love Italian names.
Pregpan - Sorry I didnt mean to upset you with the talk about M's cousin. Dont worry the little boy is happy enough, he doesnt know any better I guess. He is well loved its just that his parents are keen on discipline I guess, they have no idea but we all parent differently.
Does anyone have a quinny zapp stroller?
Thanks ladies for the reassurance regarding the whole wishing well thing. I couldnt care less if we get nothing, but I thought I would give people an option as I know when we got to weddings we like to come with a gift or money.

Rainy: was laying in bed last nite thinking I missed one of your Questions .. Boys aren't that close, Jack loves Alex & if Jack is awake before his big brother, then SHMG, Jack will crawl into bed with Alex or simply wake him up .. where as Alex, is content to play by himself, but he still looks after & out for Jack (ie, when Jack is crying in the cot, Alex comes up all distressed, says "jack" & we have to go check on him, he copied me the other day by patting Jack's back.
In the car after d/c yst we picked up kfc & Jack sat there screaming for a chip .. Alex sat there telling Jack to "shut up".
Hayley: Glad we can help!!
Well, I supposed i had better get out off bed, Alex is running around with a bare bum & I need to start getting ready for our trip to the beach :) I'm very excited. Normally I don't think I would be good to take the boys to the beach, thus have never (except for when Jack cldn't walk & Tracey's mum held him) but I gonna give it a go!
ttfn!!
-
Sorry guys, not much time for posting lately - should go have a shower while W is asleep.
PAP, pregnancy still sinking in, no symptoms yet apart from sore nipples when W feeds. I wish he would wean!
Andie, have fun at the beach, we spent hours playing there over the christmas holidays, it was great fun.
Thanks for agreeing with me about the IL's and their demented dog - I was worried I was overreacting. I don't know how such a small thing like putting the dog outside turned into such a huge issue. They were so fricken childish and then MIL kept leaving the room when I entered and would make everyone lunch (DH was away at a stag party) and then half an hour later say 'oh sorry, did you want some lunch too?'. I thought they were really nice people, I have lost so much respect for them after this.
Met my midwife yesterday. In NZ you have the same midwife all through the pregnancy, birth and the first 6 weeks of baby. Mine probably won't be at the birth though because I can't go to the local birthing centre because of the GD. My fasting levels are already higher than they should be, the midwife is checking with an OB to decide what we should do.
