But I'm sooo slack with maintaining my colour and I never get it re-done LOL. I think I will get it coloured though. ROFL about the basket thing. It's just that around here all the *older* women use them. The thing with Alister's eating though is that he isn't plumping up at all - he's super skinny and you can count each of his ribs. he is growing taller though, so it's not like he's not growing, but just not gaining weight. He really bugs the other kids when they are eating though and will throw spectacular tanties and squeal (OMG the squeal he lets out!) until they give him some. Like just now, he's come into me, pointing and sooking and I know he wants a nectarine because I know Erin just got one, so she's gotten one for him too and no he's just taken off, happy as larry! It's frustrating.

lewis is a super fussy eater and drives us crazy with it. i might have to give mac cheese a go sherie, i hadn't even thought of that till now.
btw, i agree with md on the hair thing- dye, dye, dye! just do it yourself, the packet ones are fantastic these days i reckon.

md- you never talk tooo much, it's great! we love it

In my defence my typical choice of basket is ala funky african not little-red-ridinghood-wicker...does that help? I bet he's skinny looking cos he burns it all off, not because he's not eating enough.

Aint nothing wrong with wicker, I just don't "do" country. At all. Not decor, not quilts, and most of all not music! Just ain't my thing. But I am partial to a cane storage basket here and there.

My cousin & his DP had a baby boy today! 3.2kg not sure on length still waiting to hear. He's nameless too for the mean time just like Loki was :) they also have a daughter who was born in June '07.

AFM: well all ok considering the last week. DH and I are being very careful with eachother which is foreign for us, but if it gives us the time we need to lick our wounds i am all for it.
also i had to (finally) have my baby tooth removed at the dentist today. i mean seriously how many needles does it take to get a baby tooth out??? i didnt like it. and now i have a cracking headache. BUT i still managed to throw a dinner party (DH invited the neighbours around)....

Clare, we do the skirting around each other thing too after a dust up. usually we just need a couple of days, then we're over it. I hate having teeth removed. I used to be a dental nurse and saw it all from the *other side* and it totally turned me off LOL. I hope the headache goes away soon.

sorry im sooo not keeping up im sooo tired right now! i woke up 5 times last night and only 2 of them were because of asha grrrrr and then she like to get up pretty early too so i am just buggered!!
the ccc was good dp came with me coz he finished work early so he got to look too which was really good.. we really liked the place and will be enrolling asha next wednesday to start going once a week on a monday.. its only about a 15 minute walk from here which is good for me.. its a small centre they only have 5 babies on the premises at any one time and the babies do share a room with the 2 year olds alot of the time, which wouldnt be good for some people but works out really well for us coz asha loves older kids :) their staff were really nice and well qualified as well as the director also very nice and an ECT which i was happy about.. i feel really comfortable with it and asha was already playing and waving at the kids and trying to kiss them lol so i think it will be good for her too..
now to find something to amuse her the other 4 days im home alone with her lol!! oh well mum takes her swimming once a fortnight and we are actually looking for some other swimming lessons once a week because its not really enough for her once a fortnught because she isnt getting used to it really.. gymbaroo starts again soon but we will be doing that on a saturday now because its been quite hot and its about a 25min walk from the station as well as dp pretty much always running late to work because he had to drop us at the station in the mornings lol.. library time was nice but it clashed with sleep time and made the bus a nightmare trip and it really didnt go for very long considering how far we had to travel.. ahhh well.. ill figure it out eventually lol i dont wanna take too much on when im this tired anyway..

AFM: well a bit woozy today, but feeling better about the whole tooth gone thing. now comes the BIG operation to bring the adult tooth down into place. yeeeuuwwwww. i am not feeling sexy right now, let me just say! i hate braces, just putting it out there.

Noni - that sounds like DD's centre. Only 5 bubs and they do lots with the 2 year olds, K loves it though, apparently she always wants to be with the older kids and is much happier playing with them.

Ozstar - a run, you crazy girl!! I've done two pump classes now and man I'm feeling it!!

The only wicker baskets in our house are in the bathrooms full of toilet paper!! I do have a little cane chair that my grandma gave me when I was a bub and K has one too from my sister (she climbed up herself the other day and was reading hungry caterpillar - so cute)

Trill - I know what you mean about maintaining colour - I get foils done and try to keep them fairly close to natural colour. Hides the grey, but regrowth doesn't stand out. And it means I have 3 hours to myself whenever I get it done!

cally- how is katie doing in cc now? is she loving it? how are you enjoying work?

well the most disgusting thing just happened here. i was sitting here on bb and lewis was playing in the loungeroom and then he suddenly came in and handed me his nappy which he had taken off....fair enough i thought....until i smelt a disgusting smell coming from the lounge room and realised he had done a stinky hot smelly poo on the carpet!!!!!

Rainy: yep i have braces. got them on last july. all because of this baby tooth...

Cally I feel so good when I exercise, I have 2 weddings in 2 months time so am using that as my goal to drop a few kg. Figure I am better trying to loose it now so that I am not a complete mess once number 2 comes along lol.

I am in a bad mood today and cant snap out of it. Feels horrible, especially when I get mad at L when I know I wouldnt normally. Lucky he is in bed and I can just chill for a while. I am making hot chips for lunch and am going to smother them in gravy (so much for the run last night lol)

you have no idea what i have to do to post... but here I am!
I am so annoyed I wrote the mega-est post yesterday to catch up on everything (had taken notes and all as I was feeling the mega guilts for being MIA for so long and saw so many of you having tough times, as I have...) and it didnt work - twice... so I gave up! I will try to keep up now and will try to make up for it now, but forgive me if i miss anything or am not v descriptive! i miss you all!!
Clare - big hugs to you - how did the appt at the psychologist go today? yuk on the tooth you poor thing, but one step closer to it all being done! i think it is great that you and DH will sort things out and see someone about it all, i think the holidays bring out lots of issues and also with bubs the ago ours are the stress of it all builds up. I hope things get better soon - it really does sound like it will. L sounds like sucha gorgeous little devil - we will have to arrange another play date soon in canb or melb.
LOL at the poo stories - i havent had anything like that but N has started to make sounds when he is about to poo and also to point to his nappy when it is full... so i have been wondering re the TT but i def dont think he is ready (esp as he cant walk yet) so i guess we will do that next summer...

Rainy, we have had our big boy bed for a couple of months now but honestly there is no point in putting him in there until I can get him sleeping a lot better. So it seems the cat has claimed it for herself lol.

Trill, I have many grey hairs. I first noticed them when I was 23(!!!!!) and they have done nothing but multiply. Everytime I pull one out I hear my mum inside my head saying 'if you pull one out, two will grow in its place'. I suspect she is right too lol. They are especially noticeable under fluroescent lighting, so everytime we go out to dinner I see them in all their glory in the restaurant bathrooms. I am not game to dye because I tried it once and big clumps of hair fell out and I had a couple of huge bald patches (P.S, when the box tells you to test a discreet spot first, test a discreet spot first!!!!)

Clare, I still have some baby teeth too. The two bottom first molars are originals, but there are no grown up teeth to replace them. They are more filling than tooth now, they just aren't made to last this long. Hope it feels better soon. GD is a big red flag for developing Type 2 Diabetes later in life, I suspect the stain on my pancreas during the last pregnancy did some damage

Thanks for all the nice messages re my little pity party. Facebook is a bit deceptive, I only put on the pics where my flabby bits aren't showing lol, I am really a size 16. I know that isn't that huge, but my diabetes doctor said that to have the best chance of avoiding Type 2 I should keep myself very slim - she wanted me to lose 20kg in the year after W was born and I didn't lose anywhere near that. I think I am a bit sensitive about it atm because I can't stop eating! I am sooo hungry, even 20 minutes after dinner my tummy is aching with hunger. I was extra hungry last time, but this is just crazy!

Re toilet training, after we move houses in a couple of weeks I was going to get a potty to get him used to it. Sometimes after bathtime when he is naked he will pull back the curtain and have a wee on the sliding door!!! so I am hoping to direct him into the potty. He also comes up to me and says 'Poo' and points to his nappy if it is full. Would be handy if I didn't smell him coming lol

I am so loving this talking thing! Tonight DH came in and asked me what I was cooking and W pointed and helpfully said 'Tea'.

OMG Arte, size 16 AINT FAT!! At my leanest most underweightest skinniest I would only just fit into a 16. I believe a 14 is the national average. Where did they get the 20 kg to lose thing from? From my reading, a weight loss of 5% of your start weight is enough to create healthy metabolic changes, anytime you go on to lose another 5% you get further healthy changes. Saying "you need to lose 20 kg" is an unrealistic goal to start with.

i know, i didnt realise how common retained baby teeth were. unfortunately i do have an adult tooth behind and it was the one causing the dramas. cant wait for it all to be fixed...time machine anyone??

Rainy: we are about to buy a potty. we aren't gonna stress the issue, but Leila does let us know when she needs to poo so am thinking that if we point at the potty occasionally we can take it nice and slow. also i read (or heard?) somewhere that if you have the potty around and let bubs explore/play with it without any real pressure to use it, then it can make the transition less stressful (sounds too good to be true though LOL!). that said, my neighbour down the road has been doing this for 2 months now (her son is 4 weeks older than Leila) and he now uses it. his mum has to tell him to go to the potty when we tells her he needs to go....

unfortunately it's a 2 year stint on the braces and i am only 9 months in.....arrrghhhh!

AFM: well went off to see the psychologist today and it was not great. i feel more relieved (so that's something!). but yeah basically all our troubles are to do with the PND (yay for me!). so she has referred me to see psychiatrist to see if i need to get meds (WTF??? here i was thinking i was on the road to recovery...urgghh). at least the lady i am seeing is meant to be one of the leading ladies for PND internationally, so i will be in good hands. DH also has to come for support.
so not sure what to make of that...
Leila on the other hand is just the cutest lately. like many of you have been describing it is so fun having little conversations with them! i love that she shows me her toys and explains her games or that i can ask her if she wants something to eat or drink and she can tell me yes, no, or maybe something else to eat instead. so much fun!!

Clare - Sorry to hear that you are still having a rough time with PND. Have you ever been on meds for it? Good luck with the psychiatrist, sounds like you are in good hands with her. :hug:

Trillian - My hair looks terrible atm, its such a mission to keep the colour looking decent. I just buy a packet of colour from woolies. I feed M alot of pasta too as she is a huge fan of it & I know that she will always eat it.

Clare - wow that must be hard to get your head around and I am sure you ARE on the road to recovery - it is just perhaps a longer road than you thought. It sounds like you are in good hands with the psychiatrist - I am sure you will get it all under control. What does your DH think? I am glad you feel relieved and it must feel good to be doing something more about it - hugs to you! those play dates may not be too long off, i think we have decided to move back to melb after the baby is born (did i tell you guys that already - sorry i forget what worked on posting and what didnt the last few days)...
MM - when is your wedding again? thanks for asking re the pregnancy - it is going well. i had a hard time there for a month or 2 with the gastritis and stomach ulcer and then a horrible bout of tonsilitis but doing a lot better now and starting to enjoy the preg a lot more than i had been. i am off to the OB again today which is exciting! i THINK i felt the first few movements this morning - teeny tiny little 'pokes' - jusy like i felt with Noah last time (this is a lot earlier though).. so it is all getting exciting! it is a v diff feeling for me/DH with the 2nd preg thats for sure... i cant wait to find out gender - yes partly so i can start shopping!!!

Clare, :hug:. I too am sure you're recovering, but just remember recovery isn't a thing that you just get one day, it's a long process of healing and integration. As a past sufferer of depression I know in myself I will always have to look after myself more carefully than other ppl do, that I will always need to work to achieve balance in my emotional state & all the other parts of my life. I call it "self maintenance". I hope the psych is as good as she is cracked up to be, and that you get clarity and balance soon. xx

MM - better hope that pulling nappies off isn't hereditary LOL!

Re TT - last time we started with a potty but never really used it as it just encouraged DD to pee in her sandpit buckets (being small round coloured plastic things) so we just went straight for the toilet using a child step and seat thingy. Might bypass the potty altogether this time. I expect we'll start looking for signs of readiness after her next birthday - the weather will be warming up by then too.

Clare - I hear you on the the PND front. After DH and I had our latest big talk, it seemed to all point back to me and PND. My doctor recently changed my meds so fingers crossed this one works better. I'm mainly working on keeping the lines of communication open between us so that we don't get to the point of no return.
I, too, had braces. So not fun but I'm sure its even more annoying when you are older. I had mine in late highschool and felt ridiculous. Although being called shredder wasn't a huge help :lol:

PAP - So glad the posting worked for you. Good luck at the ob and congrats on the move decision.

Potty - I brought S one from Ikea for $4.95 and want to get another 2 to have around the place. This one is in the bathroom so that she gets on before her bath. Although I have found it in every other room of the house at some point or another. I think its beside our bed at the moment. :wall: Maybe its lucky she doesn't use it properly yet. ;)


Rainy - Try putting Ls nappy on backwards so that he can't reach the tabs perhaps. My sister did that for her son when he started pulling his nappy off.

Sarah just heard a message come through on my mobile so she ran off to get it and brought it to me. How cute is that? Not that I get many messages or spend half my day on my phone. :shhh:

Noni - nice work on the new day care place. I'm trying to get S into FDC and went for a meeting monday. After filling out all the paperwork and paying the admin fee ($20) she finally tells me where the mum is and its 15 mins away. Doesn't sound much but I told her at the end of last year when I rang to put my name down that I was happy to wait until the beginning of the year, when they re arrange and lose kids to school etc, that I wanted someone within my vicinity. So now have to wait for them to find someone else.

Gotta go....Little Miss needs a nap before swimming and shes pulling on my leg to get attention. BBL

Kate, re the FDC sometimes you just need to keep ringing and asking. Repeat what you want a lot. And if you get someone really helpful at the office write their name down and ask for them next time you ring. Don't be afraid to say a particular carer isn't going to be suitable for you. It helps if you have a deadline for when you want to start care because they've got to start producing names more quickly then! Goodluck, I hope you find the perfect carer just down the road from you! :)

MM feeling so much better today, except this heat. It was 30 degrees at 8am. I have washing out and now they are saying to expect showers......fantastic.

Just bought Logan some little cheese flavoured rice cakes and he loves them. You get heaps in a pack too. Have been looking for lots of healthy things I can take when we go out, I got these biscuits in the health food shop but they were $8 for 5 little packs. He also loves the boost berry thingos (very descriptive lol). Does everyone elses child try to feed them everything they are eating? Especially the already sucked on food???

"Whinge warning"
This morning I went in to get K up - she was all happy in her cot, had her arms up ready to be picked up. Then it went rapidly down hill. She didn't want to stay in her room, but wasn't happy in the family room. Didn't want her sleeping bag on, didn't want me to take it off. Didn't want to be held, but didn't want to be put down. Not happy with milk or water, didn't want food. After 10 minutes of her screaming and me getting super frustrated, DH got up. He walked in, told me to go and have a shower and he would look after her. I just burst into tears, he picked her up and the little bugger grinned and gave me a thumbs up! She's done this a few times lately, just nothing seems to work, but today was definitely the worst. She just makes me so frustrated sometimes and I am a bit jealous of how she likes DH so much more.
OK feeling better now (but am still going to go and get a lamington to cheer myself up)

Rainy - DD loves childcare. She went yesterday so she doesn't forget it while DH is on holidays and after we had put her bag away, she pointed at the door (telling me where to go), gave me a kiss and then got stuck into the playdough.

PP - welcome back!! Glad you are feeling better with your shocking run of sicknesses there!

Oz - K only gives us food if we ask which is definitely good.

Arte - oh dear for the bald patches, that doens't sound like a good look at all.

Was starting to think K was weaning after no feeds at all on Mon or Tues. some days N prefers DH sometimes me I am sure K is the same - it just doesnt always feel that way...
Kate I agree with MD re the FDC just keep bugging them and you will get what you want. I found really getting a personal bond with the coordinator good too, and being v open about what I liked and didnt like was good - and I 'rejected' 3 ladies before I found the right one for us - they were all nice enough etc but just didnt gel and werent 100% what i needed for N at the time.
Oz - yep N tries to feed me chewed food - GROSS! i am also hunting for new snacks - some ideas i have bought recently (i am getting much slacker on the cooking front) - brown rice crackers, muesli bars (the baby ones), sultanas, grapes/blueberries etc (though not as good to lug around as perishable), dried apple. he also wont eat from a spoon but LOVES to suck on a raffertys puree (vege/fruit) so they come in handy sometimes - when he was sick from the MMR and wouldnt eat they were great. if i am cooking i make corn and cheese muffins or pikelets whcih are also good. i find N is a bit of a grazer these days so snacks are becoming important. he also LOVES criossants - so they are good to pick up if we are out.
OB went well - all good with me though he wants me to go to a specialist re the ulcer - he will work with that specialist for a treatment plan while preg... as my MS is kinda back they are worried abbout a flare up. heard bubbas heart beating away and all booked in for 20 wk scan - yee haa!

PP L is a grazer too, I make sugar free mini muffins and piklets with fruit or Sultanans, mind you I havent cooked in a while and probably should. He loves fruit so I take what I can but hate when it goes yuck! Might try a few of your suggestions though. Good to hear all went well with the OB, you PG girls are making me so clucky with all your scans and gorgeous little kicks and heartbeats!!

It is hot and humid here, L wants to play outside but its just to warm. Hopefully we get a storm later. Once Dh is home he can put the sprinkler on for L to play in.

Oz - M loves the boost fruit bite thingos as well. They are handy to take out & about as they are in their seperate little packs. As for the rice crackers, we were buying the mini ones in the baby isle & M loved the tomato ones that Heinz do. Well we power through them, so lately I've been buying normal coles brand tomato & basil ones in the 'adult isle' & just break them into pieces for her. Loves them & much cheaper. Another thing M loves if we are out & about & decide to have lunch is tuna sushi lol. M is the same with always wanting to go outdoors but lately its just too hot during the day, late arvo is best.

PP - Glad to hear the scan went well & baby is healthy. Hope the ulcer hasnt flared up.

I just took my wedding dress for alterations as the big day is 6 weeks away now. Its going to cost me $200 and then she is making me a veil, $130!!!! Theres also a couple of barely there scuff marks on the train, as my dress was an off the rack, & the dressmaker said it looks bad I need to get it drycleaned. So I've just spent the morning racing around drycleaners trying to find someone with decent pricing, but they all want over $300. The last guy I went to said the dressmaker is being pedantic, dont bother you can hardly see it. Glad he said that to me because thats what I thought all along lol. I've had a busy morning, thank god my sister baby sat M for me.

just quickly- what are these boost fruit thingies you're all talking about?
