Andie- eww on the tick on Alex. good thing you got to it quickly. as for moving to QLD, it sounds like the way to go. support for you and the kids, work, friends, family etc etc.

Trill - Not worried about Fiji at all. The Smart Traveller warnings haven't changed in like 10+ years. We are mainly in Nadi which is not affected like Suva (capital) can be. Plus tourism is their trade so very unlikely that they will do or let anything happen to us. Another plus is that we are on a gated island that also has the Hilton etc so extra safe.

Noni - good work on getting A into a big girl bed..hope it all goes smoothly for you and her

Cally - Glad the collarbone has healed up nicely. So no jumping from tall buildings for her for a while.

Rainy - love the Dory mantra...can Dory not be Confusious incarnate? lol

Clare- So happy that kitty came home. Nothing worse than the unknown

Pap - Good work on getting the care situated sorted. Our FDC has quit to go to taching fulltime so gave us a weeks notice to find somewhere else. So not what I needed to do before going away. But luckily got in somewhere and she seems like a good FDC, she has a 19 month old son as well so sarah can interact with same age as well as others.

Sarah has 3 x 240ml cow juice bottles per day (most days). One on wakeup, another at day sleep and last at bed. She also gets a bit of boob after those bottles (except if someone else is putting her to sleep ie daycare). Also, loves her cheese and yoghurt so I think we have dairy covered. Pity the little toad is not into meat or vegies that much. :wall:

Well we fly out to Fiji on Sunday morning and come back thursday 7th. so can't wait to head back over. Am hoping for easy internet access tho cos I so can't do without facebook or bellybelly for too long. lol. Trying to get things organised and remember what they had over there as to what I may need to take food wise. Actually Clare you might be able to give me a bit of advice perhaps...?

And as for 2nd bday parties, I haven't really thought about it but did find some awesome Tinkerbell party stuff so that could be a go. Although, she has no idea who she is so might hold off to her 3rd bday. So maybe my little pony or something, or a ladybug one?

thanks for all the well-wishes with Baby the Kat. we are absolutely stoked that she is home! and yes, she was a wee bit dirty and smelly. we think she just bunked down in the air vent thingy and didnt move until we walked past 3 days later...

MM: hmmm no idea what the spots could be. i have had a sty before, but it was inside the lid so was really itchy. so maybe it could be something like that? i'd ask at the pharmacist?

Kate: hhmm, food wise i reckon you guys will be pretty well decked out for S over there. loads of fresh fruit and the like, and i am sure that the hotel will be awesome! although milk can be a bit tricky at times to find (unless she is happy with UHT). I'd maybe just bring some back-up plan raffertys or something JIC she cracks it! LOL! mmm i am soo jealous! i could really hammer a kokoda right now!!! MMMMMMM. we are hoping to head over there mid-year....fingers crossed my research will be approved (i aint holding my breath! LOL). so are you staying on denarau? noice!

AFM: all good here. am starting to feel a bit more normal. although my low iron is giving me the shirts no end. i keep having black outs which is really annoying. but that is on the way to being mended. do you guys have any tips for getting extra iron?? i am iron tabs, but they arent cutting the mustard as quickly as i had hoped.
Leila is just divine and everyday DH reminds me that i make beautiful babies LOL! man is he ever so keen to hear the pitter patter of more baby feet LOL! but i have put the brakes on until december/january as i want to be fully healthy again.

gotta be quick as i am in panic mode toget ready for bali - so much work to do, N's 18 months check, packing etc etc... aaah all this to relax LOL!!
clare def think it is a good idea to wait til you are 100% to ttc, i know i have found it really a lot harder this time being run down, the stomach ulcer etc etc and the preg is a lot harder to deal with (less time, energy etc etc). That said I WANT YOU TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY!! LOL!!! your DH sounds so divine - as is mine who this morning decided that in prep for birth/late preg etc he willnow do all the morning shifts with N so i get the extra hour or so of sleep. what a gem!
Kate - if it is any help i am not taking much to bali. snacks for plane and some raffertys for those times i cant find much - last time i orderd plain rice somtimes and he had raffertys on it... but i think with fresh fruit etc they will be fine. i remember N having loads of fruit, juices and then grilled fish and rice, spag bol etc. i thinkmost hotels will have enough for them? i am wondering about milk though as N still has 1 bottle a day and last time we didnt need this... hmmmm

H, do you think it could be like an ingrown hair or a blind pimple? Could be just one of those mystery type things that will sort itself out too - do you think it's bothering her?

Clare, you could try boosting your intake of vitamin c as that will help with the iron absorption, but best to have it fresh as juice and not tablets. Having low iron can also affect your immunity too, so it's not wonder you've been hit so hard with it all. I definately think you should have several more babies ;) but also a good idea to wait till you are 100% over this.

Kate, that's a relief to know you are going to a safer area.

PP, your DH is an absolute doll for doing that for you.

Argh I can feel a MIL vent coming on....

SIL & I organised to have a bbq at ours in a couple of wks time, she said she will call in laws & let them know. All good. Well SIL just told me that MIL wont be coming unless she gets a personal invite from me. Ahhh! To be honest I havent been looking forward to this bbq as not having the in laws stay 24/7 has been a nice break for us. I really dont want to speak to her yet, I dont feel ready, maybe I am being an immature ***** but after the last couple of awkward family gatherings I am a bit peeved. Should I just get DH to speak to her & invite them? Sorry this has turned into a rambling mess but I'm so over family right now, how sad is that?

Clare - Yep, staying at Worldmark on Denarau and can't wait. We've got some packet pasta and some saucey things to add to rice, pasta, vegies but think she'll be fine over all. Now the milk thing, I haven't tried her on UHT as such but I have cracked a long life normal milk before and she was fine with it. Fingers crossed hey? hehe. Noni ended up having iron injections with Asha I think. Otherwise, increase red meat intact.

PAP - I know what you mean about hectic lead up to a relaxing time. I hope you have a blast in Bali. and fingers crossed for you too in regards to milk.

MM - Geez your MIL sounds so immature. I would just ring her on the basis of saying that M had done something really amazing recently and thought you'd let her know. And then just slip in "so are you coming to the bbq?' Make it out that it was not the basis for the call but slip it in anyway. Why do MILs have such a hard time giving up their baby sons?

AFM - We head to Brissie tomorrow so I have been frantic getting things sorted and packed. Am hoping to be able to log on every now and again over there but probably only fb to save time. I don't think I can survive too long without the internet. hehe

Anyway, off to bed now after another load of washing.

Leanne - glad you are enjoying your aqua circuit. I see the posts on facebook about it hehe. I understand about the mumma time as well. But for the sake of all those not part of bb then we will say it is the exercise reason not the kid free reason lol

Clare - MD's tips for the iron-deficient: eat Weetbix brand (must be Sanitarium) every day for brekky with a glass of iron-fortified orange juice. Eat your greens. There's this tonic stuff that you can get at the health food store, it's called Floradix, it has plenty of iron etc in it. All the homebirthers use it as a post-birth tonic so I'm sure there are some goodies in that you could do with. xx YAY for Baby Kat!!!! :cheer: I'm so stoked for you. xxx

Well I have had to cancel our family portrait today because of the Rather Noticeable large stye in my eye (!) Seriously looks like I have conjunctivitis which means we also have to cancel H's grandparent date this morning - as my step mum (she of the cornea transplant) will be climbing the wall if it looks anything like JunkyEyeTis. :( Which means I suddenly have an opening in my social calendar this morning...not sure what to do.

We got our immunisation allowance yesterday which was a nice little surprise!

MD - I think it helps that we are in a good size but still rural area that has the services but isn't flat out with them (ie speechies). They said it could still take a month to get in though. Ohhh, yucky sty!

Well K's first haircut went very well. I had bought a pack of Dinosaurs to stuff into her mouth to keep her quiet but didn't end up giving her to them until the end - she was so good. Then we went and had a babycino, it was the size of a normal cappucino - so much froth!

This morning we went for a boat trip up the river with Poppy - she had so much fun. We saw fish jumping out of the water and went under two bridges and saw lots of other boats. She looked so little rugged up in a parka and a life jacket!

Sorry girls for my incredibly selfish post yesterday!!! Thanks for your suggestions, I am so going to call her myself this weekend & put an end to it all. Felt so down about it yesterday & like MD said, lifes too short for this!

Oz - Teach me how to take beautiful photos of M like you do with L! Those pics you added on FB today are gorgeous!

I was thinking about daredevil Maddie the other day - we were at a playground and W walked up a ramp to a tower that was about 90cm high and then wanted my hand to turn around and carefully climb back down. He is so cautious! Hope you get the MIL thing sorted, it can be such a drag.

Cally, boating is heaps of fun isn't it! We drove past our usual launching spot a few weeks ago and W cried because we didn't have the boat and we told him we would bring it next time, then he spent the rest of the trip saying 'bring boat' every time he glimpsed the water. He absolutely loves it.

For 2nd birthdays, I doubt we will do much because I am due to have a baby 4 days before W's birthday.

The anticipated trauma of getting W into his own bed was way off the mark - we tried a day sleep in the just before we came to mums, then that night at bed time he said 'William bed' and pointed to his bedroom so I went with it. I thought he might have forgotten by the time we got back from mums but both nights since he has asked for his bed. He gets to have a special pillow in there (ie a pillow, he didn't have one in our bed) and DH and I made a huge deal when he woke up there the first morning. Now I just have to get me out of his bed....

Sorry I have missed heaps of people, I have been so rushed this week, I don't know how single parents cope. DH gets back tomorrow night which will be good.

Morning all!

Everything went well yesterday, even though it was 6.30pm by the time I got in!!! He was running sooo late it wasn't funny. So too many fanny's then I suppose MD ROFL! But I woke up just after 7pm and I was allowed to go by 8, so not too bad. Poor DH though, he had to wait all that time with Alister and keep him entertained, but they both survived. One thing that was really bad about the waiting was that when I was in the pre-op waiting room they did 5 circumcisions on these tiny little babies and OMG the crying they did! I was so glad that I never did it to my boys - no offence to anyone who has done it but it was just awful to have to listen to it. So today I feel great - very little bleeding and only a bit of cramping last night while I was still in recovery (yep Arte, was done under a GA) but it went away by the time we left. So happy to know that it's out though because I had just started to bleed again on Wed, after it being only 3 weeks since the end of the last bleed which lasted a full 2 weeks.

JaZaH sorry I am PMSL cos after Trill's post it sounds like she went to the fanny doctor to have a blind pimple removed from her hoohaa. :rofl: (...it was her IUD getting removed JaZ :p).

Just met some parents of one of DD1's new friends, OMG they are LOVELY...thanking my lucky stars (again) DD1 is soooo happy here. There is also an as yet unexplored connection with the bellydancing & bollywood world (!!) so I could be SET for my bollywood classes later this year! (*hums a coupla bars of Jai HO!*)

I made chocolate cheesecake brownies yesterday. They were supposed to cook in 1hr 15mins - it took 2 hours!! DH was salivating over the oven - gosh they are good though.

I can't believe everyone is moving bubs into big beds!! They are growing up so much. Won't be happening here for a while, mainly because I want to keep DD in her sleeping bags over the cold winter!

You don't normally have to have the IUD removed under a GA - there are supposed to be 2 strings that are left inside your vagina so that your Gyno/GP can insert a speculum (like for a pap smear) and can grab them and pull them out when it needs to be removed, and you are supposed to be able to feel them in there yourself, but I was never able to feel mine, so it was a combination of him cutting them too short to start with and also that the blasted thing moved further into my uterus, thus drawing what there was of the strings into the uterus as well. So I had to have a D&C to dilate the cervix so they could get in there and get it out along with the scar tissue that had formed around it. All I can say is I'm glad the baby making days are over for me or I shudder to think how much harder it would be now with scar tissue in there.

And yes, I am having a somewhat lazy day. DH took the older 3 down to the anzac service to march and they will be gone a few hours. Alister is in bed as he is still tired from yesterday so I will have loads of time to myself so I will veg on here for a bit and then do a bit of cross stitch I think

just quickly as we have dh's bro and his gf here from syd for weekend but wanted to update you all on jimmy. after visits to gp and mchn- then referall to peadetrician-we have been prescribed zantac-so far it's working wonders xoxoxo

just a quick one before i catch up ... spent the afternoon at the hosp with jack ... boys had been awefully quiet then jack started howling ... got up to find alex with the tin of dog food (yes i must admit he had eaten some) then i saw blood dripping on the floor under jack ... took him to the sink to wash his finger & saw that he had gashed it so wrapped it in papertowel & threw together a nappy bag & went to the hosp arriving at 3pm ... the triage nurse saw us, & cleaned it to which Jack just sat there & didn't budge, & put some thin bandages around it & said that there is going to be a long wait for stitches as there has been a car accident & that if i wanted to leave it there was a slight chance it would heal with them bandages on ... so i decided we'd go get something to eat & come back ... so went to iga & got some bottled water & snacks, went to big w & got some colouring in books, crayons & bob toys, then to kfc & back to the hosp where we w8d till after 7 ... in the meantime we saw the air ambulance (helicopter) take off to which the boys, esp alex, loved watching ... the dr saw us & put glue on it then a waterproof cover on it ... Jack was so brave ... i have a good stomach for blood & guts but i couldn't look at his finger, it was so fleshy!, prob cos it was my child too ... we left the hosp at 7.30 ... exhausted!!

Oh no Andie, the poor little boy! It's awful to look at isn't it? I remember a few years back when Lindsay cut one of his toes and I'm cleaning it and then said to DH, I think it's gonna need stitches, then turn away and dry retched LOL. I'm like you - good with most stuff but yeah, that type of injury gets me everytime. You know it's not a bad idea what you did with buying the stuff - I might do a little package like that just for emergencies and leave it in the car. Gee even with waiting to see a Dr or something it would be a bonus.

Well Trill, we are 'celebrating' tonight with a lamb roast. Anything else would be unAustralian. LOL! Got to be there at the crack of dawn...lucky me I get a "pyjama" day tmrw :p! Keeping myself well entertained today, tomorrow will come when it comes.

Just an overnight. Get kicked out 8 am Tues morning unless there are probs. Thank GAWD because I'm sure the food will be completely inedible and I'll need to send out for some sushi rolls to get me thru the night. LOL

Jack managed to get the dressing off during his nap today & the wound was open & there was some blood so we went back to the hosp, this time with more books & colouring in books (yes I'm going to be doing a bag to leave in the car for times like this) & eventually they got us in & stitched him ... by then it was no longer dark red but bright red & i had cleaned up some blood in the w8n room ... he screamed with the local, was okay for the first stitch & half but screamed for the rest (only had 3) then they had a icy pole whilst the nurse got me stacks of extra dressings, gloves & tape for if i wanna give him a bath, & then when the dr gave me a script she took off with it & arranged me some being 5 to 5 on a sunday nite!! ... what a weekend! LOL ... going to ring FDC mum soon bout if she wants J tomorrow being that he can't get his hand wet & if he does get the dressing wet then she wld need to change it ...

MD: yum on the roast!!!!

Far out Andi, what a day! I hope your FDC lady is happy to have him, sounds like you need a rest hun! :hug:

Andie, I hope the stitches last longer than the glue.

There isn't going to be any hiccups, so I guess we'll know that you're safe and sound at home on Tuesday then :)

You know, call me queer, but I really liked the hospital food I had when I had the kids, but then the hospital I went to is small enough that all the food is cooked on site and not preprepared anywhere else.

MD - just wanted to pop on and say best of luck for tomorrow. Hope everything goes well and you are out without any problems on Tuesday. Enjoy that lamb roast!

Andie - OMG what a busy time you've had!! Poor little J. Good idea re the bag of activities in the car, might have to do that myself.

DH has one day left of holidays but we are taking K to child care tomorrow anyway. I figure after spending a total of more than 4 days of his holidays at work then he deserves to have some DH time blobbing in front of the TV and napping - just as long as he cooks us dinner!! LOL!!

just popping in to let u all know things are going fine we have an important house inspection tmw because we want to renew the lease here (its up in july but ive asked to do it early since im due in august and if we have to move i want to know asap) so we have been doing lots of cleaning to make sure its all really nice and tidy.. been a bit of a nightmare really my housekeeping skills sure have gone down hill since being pregnant!! dh has been super nice about it hes scrubbed the bathroom and the kitchen including the oven and done lots of tidying up so all thats left for me to do today is some general tidying, vacuum and mopping the floors and as much washing as i can possibly do coz the pile is still pretty big hahaha!!
hopefully have the lawn mower guy coming this avo too just to make it extra special..
anyways best be off to make my house all sparkly lol my bathroom looks like an Ajax add!! dh did such a good job i may just never do it again hahahah!!!

I cringed when I read ur IUD story. The bit where it had gone in further + now scar tissue has formed, nasty + ouchie! Can that affect u having more kids? Or anyone for that matter?

Supa: up, i'm the same. i LOVE to cook in the kitchen when it's all nice and clean LOL! i feel so inspired. pity that doing so means it gets dirty again!

Noni: hope the inspection goes well and that you guys can extend the lease... yay on an 'AJAX' bathroom. so jealous! we have real issues keeping ours clean. the vent doesn't work and it is a cheap extension on the back of the house and so has very little ventilation and the mould is my nemesis. but the landlord is tight and refuses to fix/replace the vent (or the cold water tap...). and there is no way i am spending money on his run-down house. our last place was great. the landlord was really nice and we had no problem doing ou own maintenance. but not for this guy!

Leanne: man i hope that it's not going to be 'one of those days' for you!!

MD: hope you are post-op and feeling good!

AFM: it is frikkin' cold here. i am at work (ppffft working hard LOL!). and i have my jumper, jacket and scarf on. plus the heating. and yet my fingies are still frozen. rode the bike in with leila (who fell asleep on my arm!) and now the rain clouds have come over. yay for that bright idea clare LOL! ah well. we had a sleep-over at a friends house on saturday night and the house is sooooo ginormous that it had 3 (THREE) hallways!!! it some old edwardian mansion thing (with two front doors, one for the plebs and one for the guests i guess LOL!). the hallways were bigger than my house LOL!
other than that, same old same old. we are all good. leila is popping teeth left right and centre and has taken to waking at 6.30am. which i am finding *interesting*.
