Rainy, saw one of Lily's vids on the teev on the w/end, she had this totally retro cowboy thing going, like you say, total crack up!! LOL at L feeding the biccies to the dog. Missy E thinks it's just hilarious every time BFC eats something. Dunno why it's so funny, it just is apparently. BTW I agree - never say never!! ;)

PP I can't believe you're so far along - getting v close to the finish line now! The creche sounds just right for N, he'll have a ball there I'm sure. I bet you've been going crazy buying all those new little outfits for the GIRL you're having...?! LOL BTW my GF had an instant unplanned homebirth - literally squatted down in the hallway and started pushing... LOL her DH got coached thru over the phone by the ambos. She was in shock for a bit but otherwise all was fine. Not worth worrying about IMO.

Trill - how's your bro today? I think your mum's partner is spot on about avoiding the misery-gutses of the world. It is what it is, you know, might as well make the best out of it. DH has even shown me how to load videos into my ipod (well actually its an iphone) so I'll be laughing away to myself like a properly healthy lunatic on my chemo days.

Arte I was trying to do the maths on your being out of the workforce for 7 years - does this mean you're planning a third, or only having 2 then returning to work when your littly starts school?

Gypsy, have you done another test? I felt like AF was on her way more than ever the 2 times I was PG...I remember thinking here are the cramps, where's the blood? So I've still got my fingies crossed for you. xxx

MD, aren't you always saying that it is the quality of time spent rather than the quantity that is important? Sure Miss E will miss your time together if she is in care a bit more, but there are many people that have to put their kids in care more than they would like due to circumstance, and your reason is a rather compelling one. Have you called Centerlink to see if there is any sort of payment you can get for situations like this ie extra childcare while undergoing medical treatment? Might be worth a ring? :hug: When does the chemo start? Have been thinking about you heaps.

Trill, ouchies for your brother! Hope he recovers completely, knees can be problematic.

PAP, glad that N is doing so well in creche already. Sounds like he is getting far more stimulation than he was getting at FDC.

ETA, MD, will hopefully go back to work part-time (inside school hours) when the second bub is at school. They start at 5 here, not sure what age they go in Aus?. Not sure how it will work out though, the only place in the area that would hire a chemist is the mill my DH works at, and they only have full timers. Might have to broaden my horizons....

Rainy: woot woo on L loving the care! it's so cute seeing them play with their little mates (or rather sizing eachother up before doing the big snatcy-roo of the fav toys LOL!).

Pap: same goes for you girl! N sounds like a little treasure though, i can't imagine him not being cool as a cucumber with a smile to boot!

Cally: we got ours. didnt take long. i think it was already a few weeks back...

MD: hhm tricky, BUT, i have to honestly and TRULY say that i think upping the kindy days would be the way i go. it is a short-term scenario, but can guarantee the best possible recovery for you to get back on your feet and allow your body to heal. as much as we love and adore our bubbas they are alot of work and can really take it out of us. i found that when i was sick with tonsillitis and just after the op, i was so out of it and unwell that a) i was not very good at looking after her and b) she found it a bit distressing to see me so incapacitated. THAT SAID, my mate who had chemo a couple of years ago reckons that the first couple of weeks weren't too bad so maybe you can fly by the seat of your pants for a bit. but maybe flag it with the care to see if there could be room if and when needed. Miss E will be happy as larry in care; she has her routine there and then you can be the strong and happy mummy for the few hours after when she gets home instead of trying to carry that the whole day though ITMS. of course, this is totally my perspective, just going by how crapola i felt with the post tonsies...

Trill - hope your brother recovers quickly, fingers crossed he misses the staph infection!

MD - Difficult situation you're in, I like Clare's idea of contacting Centrelink regarding covering childcare costs. If it was me, I would be looking at booking K in, she is just so full on and I am exhausted after a day home, let alone if I am recovering from chemo. Is it worth booking her in and seeing how you go with the first lot? You can always cancel it.

Arte - it is hard thinking about getting back into the workforce, that's why I only had the year off, it took me more than 2 years for a suitable job to even be advertised where I am, there was no way I was going to leave and hope another one came up when K was at school.

PAP - glad that everything is looking good.

Re only one bub, that was always DH's plan (he actually was after none, but he always swore he would never marry, so I was able to change his mind pretty easily on both of them), I would have preferred two. We've just found K really full on and so active, I can't imagine trying to fit another one into our lives at this stage. Maybe in a few years, but then I'll be in the over 35 category and also I can't imagine having to do this all again (ie sleepless nights, early starts etc) when I am a few years older. I am also too practical, I just think of the cost of having two in full time care (AHHH!!), we would lose our spare room for a second bub and then have nowhere for my parents to stay or for DH/I to sleep if the kiddies are having unsettled nights. Maybe if K was like my niece (who has 3.5 hour day sleeps) and is quite happy to sit and play with herself constantly, I would feel more like it. Although I must say, AF was a bit late last week and there was a very slim possibility, I was leaning more towards having another one when it was staring me in the face!! And I do keep checking out prams and slings.

Anyway, back to work.

Cally - I think one child is fine, & I can understand who some couples only want the one. However like you say, you dont know how you will feel once K is a bit older. I have an active toddler as well and I often think one would be just perfect.

MD - Have you decided what to do about E & care? I think the girls have given you lots of good pros and cons. Dont you dare feel guilty either. Thought of you today when I saw the pink buns at brumbys, so of course bought a few and just demolished one then. Mmmm went down well with a cuppa. I tested this morning & got a definate BFN, however still no AF in sight, was due yesterday & the cramping feeling has gone. So in limbo land atm!??

Trill - Cant imagine not waking up to a cuppa in the morning lol!

Arte - At least you have plenty of time to decide what you want to do when you go back to work.

PAP - WOW a super quick birth that sounds good, however I hope for your sake it isnt in the car lol. Counting down the weeks now I bet!

M is right into her dolls atm, so I decided that today I would go & buy her one of those cute fisher price baby mummy dolls and also a new pram for her dolly. Went to the op shop first thinking I might find something there before spending the big cash at target. Low & behold there sitting in the op shop is a gorgeous little dolly cradle, thank god because they cost a bomb brand new! It was only $12 so I snapped it up. Also picked up a pink osh kosh jumper & a magna doodle thing for her. I love the op shop!! Anyway continued on to target & came away with her baby mummy & also a FP pram for her new baby. I think I enjoy playing with dollys even more than M does, cant wait till she gets into barbies SHHHH!

md-have you listened to the words of that cowgirl clip song? too funny. my dh walks around the house singing it all the time.

gyp- well done on your op shop bargains. i love barbies and cabbage patch kids....ooohh and my little ponies are the best!

Cally - sounds like you 2 have it all worked out, and being an only child myself i say go with what you feel is best for your family - each fam is different...you sound like such fab parents to little K. ikwym about the whole over 35 thing, we prob want more than 2..(though not 12 LOL) but I want a break before any more... so time is a ticking for me in that way... though i can imagine if i say i wont have more that i will suddenlypop one out when i am 40 or something... i am in the never say never camp.
Well beter go get my little man from creche (which i call Kindy now thanks to clare) - hope he has had a good day. i am so exhausted today, he isnt sleeping well at all (he now has a cold and coughs all night) and i am struggling big time!

H, I have to say that I think Barbies these days are such a let down to what they were in my time, their hair is crap and you cant brush it withouth pulling half of it out and they just aren't the same anymore. But on the upside Ken has real hair now and not painted on Ray Martin hair ROFL. WTG on the opshopping too!

Cally, that makes perfect sense to me about the reasons for only wanting one. And yep, having had a larger gap between Paige and Alister did make it hard for a bit to go back to the baby stuff instead of just the kid stuff.

PP, that's great your ob appt went so well. And also great that you are seeing the results of changing carers for N too.

MD, I'm like that too, life is already too short to wallow in self pity and misery, let alone when you *know* that it could be a lot shorter when dealing with life changing events like that, so you have everything to gain and nothing to lose by looking on the brighter side and having a glass that's half full. Plus your support network just seems to be a whole lot different if you embrace life the way it is instead of shunning it kwim?

Jaz, how are you going with the creepy critters? I hope it doesn't take long to be rid of them all for her.

Haven't heard from Mum as to how my brother is going - he had another lot of surgery today and she was going over to wait and then see him once he was out of recovery and she wont be home yet. He's a shearer so it's the worst possible injury for him to have, so it's time for a career refocus for him once he's ready.

Trill - you are spot on about the barbies - DD1's favorite (still) is the 1st ever I bought her - a ballerina barbie - even tho her hair is in a bun so you can't brush it - because she has the fully poseable arms and legs - like the ones back in the old days (joints in their knees)! LOL

Rainy no I haven't listened too carefully to the words - I was too busy cracking up at the 1070-style camera pans and the backup singers' dancing to notice the words! Will have to pay attention next time! BTW get ready to be disappointed re the cabbage patch dollies, an aunty bought one for Missy and she has the *most revolting* synthetic hair (you know the sort that goes frizzy first time you pull a comb thru) instead of the old-style wool-hair. :( Greedy multinationals!!

Speaking of which - do any of our VIC ladies live any where near Doncaster (I know that's near the BB centre, isn't it)...there is a TO DIE FOR thing on ebay at the moment but it's pickup only. Totally gorgeous, total bargain. I'd love to ask one of you to pick it up and parcel it up and post it for me...but I'm not sure that's practical so if you're interested in knowing what this amazing thing is PM me and you too could be a happy e-bay purchaser!! (RU all dying of curiosity now??)

Clare you are totally right - you have reminded me what it is like trying to look after a little one when you are feeling really ill. They say the tiredness is the worst (but I read the loooooong list of all the other side effects and I'm not convinced LOL). Any good news on the looky-house front?

Um, that DOES sound like something I would say LOL. I think you might be right, there might be some hardship provisions with the childcare, I think you can get 3 months worth paid for if your situation is dire enough. Might have to make some phonecalls. BTW - I think if there is a job you want (FT or no) you should apply for it, then once you've won the position and they can see how utterly BRILLIANT you are, then you negotiate for a PT contract. I've done this a few times...if you are worth keeping they will make it happen. I even had one boss tell me another co-worker had applied for PT work and they said no because they thought he was a slackarse (! her words) but told me they would definitely approve it for me because they wanted to keep me in the org. So there ya go. There may be no PT chemists because no chemists have thought to ask for it, kwim?

Well I'd better go, I'm *actually* supposed to be up at the shops getting dinner supplies, better leave before DH comes home and springs me on BB again. :lol:

Just had a good friend around for dinner, as DH works late tonight so we had a ladies night. All of my friends bar her, left when I got pregnant with M. However this one has always stuck around & she is so good with M, its amazing. Anyway had a bit too much to drink but just feeling so grateful for a friend who is still interested in me, even if I am an old nanna these days compared to what I used to be lol. Told her all that as well, & have told her on many occassions. Ok going to shut it now....

hey everyone
things have been hectic here!! we had an hour tanty over dinner last night!! ashas amping up her challenging behaviour but honestly after considering all sorts of behavioural problems i think shes just pushing the bounderies because shes a bit bored.. weve started time outs with her which she absolutely hates but ive gotta say it does seem to affect her more than a smack.. shes less likely to go back to what she was doing that got her the time out and she seems to dislike being made to stay in one spot more than she dislikes being smacked and the bonus for me is when im cranky theres far less risk of it being nastier than it needs to and me feeling guilty later for letting my crazy preg woman temper controll me haha!!
weve also started with not letting her into our bed at night.. instead i am getting up and settling her in her own bed, just popping her dummy back in and laying her down and sometimes if she seemsvery distressed ill pop her lullaby cd on for her.. am really hoping that this will eventually lead to her waking and just resettling herself.. so far shes doing pretty well were having 2 - 3 wake ups but theres no real major tanties and shes staying in her own bed so fingers crossed..
thanks for all your advice re childcare i am trying my best to get her in.. mum has said she will pay half the fees so its only 25a fortnight for us which is really handy only problem now is its a hefty 200 for the bond and i still havnt gotton my cheque back from the council from last time i put her in.. am going to talk to the childcare and see if theres anything they can possibly do for me since im still waiting on the bond back and dont have the extra there because rego is soon but im not sure what theyre gonna say.. never hurts to ask tho..
am joining ABA today and enrolling to do one of their classes very hopeful with breastfeeding this time and the midwife at the hospital suggested i do that..
anyways ladies best be off hope everyones well will try and get on later for a decent catch up and some personals :)

I forgot (sorry) what were the issues last time with A? was it her lip? i hoipe you get the care sorted, sounds like a good option...and that miss A will benefit from it too. why didnt the council pay back your bond yet - can they transfer it to the new place?
MD - LOL at keeping us all in suspense!! you can tell me - i am not an ebayer!! I def think you have done the right thing with the care - you can always pull her out, but getting in at short notice would be harder. and as much as it is a financial burden you can always pick her up early if you have the energy and want to have some special E time but you have the option. options are good when you arent well! does H go to FDC after school?

AFM all is ok... N is still doing well at kindy - had a good sleep again yest there and all, and they are amazed how he is adapting. that said he had a real cry when i dropped him off this morning. the full on grabbing my legs and balling... but they managed to distract him quickly yest so i am sure he is ok. he came home the last 2 days really hungry - i know he eats heaps there (they write it all down) but i think he needs another snack - they give arvo tea at 2.45 and then he has dinner at home at 6. maybe he will adapt or i just have to do bigger dinners i guess? his night sleeping is still the PITS - but we have a date for QE2 (when iam 37 wks preg - eeeek) so there is light at the end of the tunnel. his bed arrived this morning - i wonder if that will make it easier or harder??? poor little guy has had a lot of chg recently - i am amazed how well he copes with it all... what a gem!!! i guess the biggest chg is just around the corner now!!!
Trill - hope bro op went well - will he be out of shearing forever or just for a season (i think thetre are shearing seasons?)
