MD Miss E sounds very much like DS, he loves duplo so we bought some Mega blocks at the toy sales and he has loved puzzles for a while. We have a shop here called Whiz kids where we got a tone of wooden puzzles for Christmas for $5 each, they have a picture of the puzzle piece underneath to make it easier for him (does that make sense lol).
Rainy I walked past country road the other day and thought of you.
PAP don't apologise for being a bad baby buddy, you just had a baby. Have you tried out the close carrier? Whats it like??
Clare hugs to your family, such a rough time for you all. At least they are together again though, sort of sweet that couldn't live without each other.
Arte any improvement on the sleep front today?
Well I am buggered today, DH was in hospital all night so not a lot of sleep had here last night. Midwife comes for my first home visit tomorrow I am looking forward to it and extra happy that DH will now be here for it. Better run and put DS back bed for the millionth time.

Hi Everyone
The meet up was great. I was so nervous to begin with (esp on the drive there), its just so weird knowing you guys as well as I do and then actually meeting you IRL! Sort of like internet dating ;). After a brief shy period from both H and S they were off and running. I think the highlight were the strippers after lunch . X and J seemed to really enjoy having the others girls there to play with. S certainly adored them. She was nicely tired out for the drive home.
Congrats MD on the 17 years...I have gotten numbers of places to ring just building up the courage to admit the problems.
PAP - Beautiful name  for a very handsome lad
Sorry I can't remember much else. Just thinking of you all and hoping for a great night ahead for us all
-
Just a quickie as it is my bedtime!!
Rainy - have programmed in east of everything already!!
calre - there is still a being human on this week, i've watched 2 ep's so far and enjoying it
PAP - Jacob is a lovely name!! Glad it all went well, i was wandering around kingston on friday wondering if i would see you out and about. was also wondering what sort of pram you ended up getting?
glad the brissy meet up went well. looking forward to the canberra one in a couple of months.
kate - hope things are looking up for you and dh. i can imagine how hard making those phone calls would be, but just remember that the person on the other end will be very understanding with loads of experience in these sorts of things.
Duplo - great stuff!! dh imported some from the US because he couldn't find enough here!! K loves building big towers and tonight we made a towtruck with her little girl driving it. dh and her made a zoo last week and a bus for the little people to drive around in.
Arte - that sounds good, just stick with the handholding for now and slowly move closer and closer to the door. who knows, in a few months he might be like L and fall asleep in the middle of the floor!!
Clare - hugs to you, when are you heading up to see oma?
dh and k are going swimming tomorrow. Lucky things. he spent 2 hours trying tp get her asleep in the cot today (lucky i wasn't here) before giving up and taking her for a drive and the little bugger fell asleep after 20 seconds in the car.
went to the doctor today and got a pill script. will be weird going back on that, so long since I've taken anything.
definitely past my bedtime now
night night!!

Hey all I'm wondering if Noni's ...um....BUSY today???
Kate - well done on getting those numbers. It's hard taking that step but it will be worth it!
Katie - gosh I hope your DH is ok?
Cally - I always used to think I'd spot PAP in a crowd - just look for N's curly hair LOL. There's a fantastic lego/duplo shop here in adelaide, toy corner. It's wall to wall in there! but it can be hard to find the good stuff in shops.
-
ok, where do i get some of this duplo from ladies...
cally- do you guys have an ergo? was just thinking that maybe dh could wear katie around in that on his back for a while, then when she falls asleep (lewis does straight away) you pop them into the bed. save him having to go out in the car all the time and waste petrol.
i'm soooo excited about east of everything!!
where issssss noni?????????
oz- i love it that country road made you think of me LOL dh thinks i should get a job there
the meet-up looked so fun- i'm jealous!!
i think we need to organise a big meet-up where everyone has to fly there for the weekend LOL
-
hi everyone
yes - where is Noni??? hope it is good news and not that she is over-run with her sick DH... or at least that she is just resting and getting ready for labour and bub!
Hmmm so what is the 'good' duplo? i am not in the know here ladies.. i thught it was just blocks? this sounds like something i should be aware of LOL!
Rainy - i think i shold have shares in CR! yep get a job there and then get me discounts! i was actually in there yest but i resisted - i need to get things for myself and i am still too big!
Cally - i didnt end up getting the double pram (yet) - i am seeing how we go without it and how much i would use it. i think i can prob sling Jacob and put N in the pusher sometimes and when we are both there we use a pusher and the bugaboo. i was in kingston on fri though!!! hilarious. i only had Jacob with me though and was having coffee at velo (the new cafe where 'dont tell phyliss' used to be).
what is east of everything? if rainy likes it i think i would as we seem to have similar tv taste! and i need something new to get into
katie - how is your DH - did i miss something, what is wrong?
Kate - hope being away is helping you get some clarity. the meet up sounds fun. jealous!
ok better go - J is feeding so much atm i dont get a lot of time to myself so i need to go have some bfast now while i can.
-
GUESS WHAT??!!!
have just spent the morning looking 'suprised' for the 'Rush' tv show on channel 10!!!!!!!!
I woke up this morning to words of 'it's a take', action etc...and so had a gander and they asked if i didnt mind being on my verandah while they shot a scene!!! our bedroom was also a temporary change-room and we have scored food from the caterers LOL!
they were so lovely and friendly. even our horde of pets got smothered in cuddles...
and can i just say that that rodger corser is soooo cute LOL! *yes i managed to have a wee chat with him and the guy playing the baddy*
-
sorry guys nothing exciting here!! im bogged down in germs!! have the flu, or a cold or something i dont really know.. not having temperatures so i figure im ok?? have had it since saturday and do feel like im possibly on the mend now (well i can look at the computer screen so thats a good sign lol).. wasnt at all worried until i saw on last nights news that a woman lost her unborn child at 36wks from swine flue complications!! i really didnt think that could happen just assumed theyd take the bub out before anything like that happened so far along :( anyways my gp isnt in today and i have an anti natal appt so i figure if i just keep an eye on bubbys movements i should be ok since im feeling on the mend god talk about stress!! to top it all off dh is still unwell as well and its up to me to do as much as i can so he can get better!!
cassius - i am soooo jelous!! i love rush!!!!
-
oh Noni you poor love - glad you are on the mend and hope DH is too... I guess it is a good thing that bubby hasnt made his appearance yet! how is asha? hope she has avoided all the lurgies...
OK girls with more than 1 - i need tips - i am freaking about how i will handle them both and keep the day fun for N when DH is back at work (on the days i do have them both) and also how i will do the evening routine alone with them both... (when DH is at work he oftem wont get back in time). I dont even want to think about how it will be when DH has to go oseas for work (end Aug i think...) having alittle freak out about it so any advice welcome!
-
PAP: what happened to 'dont tell phyliss'? i loved that place! sorry cannae offer any advice for handling more than one rugrat...
Noni: glad you are on the mend babe! just make sure to talk it all over with your midwife so you feel reassured and confident to go forward.
Cally: oh yeah it is a big step to go back on the BCP! sounds like you guys have been enjoying the break!
-
PAP - no idea where that cafe is, I was at Stephanie's getting some of those bras with wire in them!! that I haven't been able to wear for the last two years. I did a lap of Kingston just before 3:00 to stretch my legs out after being in the car for two hours. East of Everything is on ABC on Saturday night. Sorry, no hints for what to do with two for the evenings that DH is away. My only suggestion would be lots of pre-prepared food so you are only dealing with a microwave!!
Good duplo - we have ones with wheels, there are some with eyes so you can make animals, arches, windows, little people (two little girls, skater boy and worm boy), and other different shapes. I've just added a photo of our Duplo to the FB page - no I haven't it gave me an error. Will try again later.
Clare - no idea what Rush is, will try and watch your episode though when it comes on!
MD - forgot to say that K is still in a cot. We are keeping her there until probably the end of the year. I did not want to deal with blankets (as opposed to sleeping bag) over winter, she is happy in the cot and she would do the whole reappear after going to bed if she wasn't trapped in the cot. The situation may change though if she starts escaping!
Oz - is DH feeling better?
Noni - your DH has been sick a while hasn't he? Hope he is on the mend for when the baby arrives. Make sure you keep an eye on your temp, don't want you getting swine flu!
Rainy - no we don't have an ergo. I tend to take her for a walk in the pram rather than the car. We don't drive around the whole time, once she is asleep we either park in the driveway or overlooking the beach somewhere and read a book or the paper.
ETA - the photo did work. Forgot to say there were also fences in the pack we got.
-
Well I must've been going to the same Kingston that Cally does, I too have no idea about Phyliss or where s/he is?? LOL
Cally I'm still not in wired bras...tho I have graduated to a very comfy & more supportive post-surgery variety. Can't bear to go shopping in the underwear dept right now. Will splash out big time once I have the nooboob comfortably installed I think. I *will* wear lacy underwear again!
Pregpan - Evenings when DH is away will be cutting-corners time. Freezer dinners or ready mades that you can pop in the oven/microwave while you are doing other things. Skip the bath if things are going-pear shaped or you are too tired (nothing a facewasher won't fix) or give them a bath/shower in the morning when things are calmer. I am the queen of arm-chair mothering (since my surgeries) - which I reckon is relevant when you are sitting to feed the little one & entertaining a toddler. I can keep Missy E entertained by issuing instructions (go to your room, get a book out to read...where's your tellytubby toy...look in the cupboard, etc) or get a few toys out, get them started by playing for a bit then when they are entertained walk away & do what you need to. I let E stand on her little chair so she can watch what I'm doing on the kitchen and 'help' with her own spoons, plates, food, etc. And I'm sorry to say it - use DVDs as a tool - save the good really engaging ones for the times when you need to feed, settle, have 2 hands free. If N is still in a high chair, it can be a handy way for him to do some drawing/play with playdough while you are busy with something else in the same room (without getting the whole room coloured in or playdoughed, kwim?). A well-timed snack/snacks can work wonders too - little food that takes a while to consume (sultanas, currants, cereal flakes or as we call them 'cereal chippies') - either that or just serve a plate of finger foods for an early dinner. Daytimes, I think the secret to happy daytime toddlers is to get out of the house - whatever it takes, walk around the block, trip to the park, storytime at the library, babycino at the cafe, kindergym, whatever. It's a block of time away from the house & they are more interested in all their toys etc when you are actually at home then.
DUPLO - Rainy you can buy 2nd hand bulk lots on ebay - lots in themes like Bob the Builder, winnie the pooh, thomas the tank. I picked up a lot 2nd hand in the pre-ebay days, the stuff is indestructible and still good 10 years on. We have a firetruck, car, motorbike, train, a house with a few bits of furniture, tubes that connect with a ball that you can roll thru them, lots of blocks, people. On layby I have a zoo & there's one which is like a grocery store. You can get a large green base plate by itself from Kmart.
-
ha ha! you two are funny! the phyliss/velo shop was on the other side of the bra shop (like not across the road but around the block...near an italian restaurant with red chequered table-cloths....). phyliss was a cool swedish homewares shop.
-
woo hoo clare- you'll have to let us know when the episode is on so we can see you. a similar thing happened to my x-bf. the producers of secret life of us turned up on his doorstep one morning asking if they could shoot a scene in his house (at phillip island) for when claudia karvan went on a holiday to the beach. she actually had a bit of nooky on his couch! LOL
pap- you will love 'east of everything'. it's a gorgeous little byron bay show with a whimsical 'sea change' kinda feel to it. abc1 7.30pm saturday.
ok....dealing with 2 kids... here's what i do....
basically lewis is up around 6.30-7am. we get up and watch some morning tv, have some brekkie, get dressed and basically spend some one on one time together before jimmy wakes up.
when jimmy wakes up, we give him a feed, choose him an outfit together and dress him..then we head out for the morning.
we will either go to: swimming, play group, play centre, friend's house, shopping centre, dad's house, playground...just to get out and about. jimmy will either sleep in the sling, pram or car.
then we head home about 12.30-1pm. have lunch. lewis goes to bed.
then i spend some one on one time just with jimmy- either cuddling on couch, or on bb, or watch a movie or something. then when jimmy goes to sleep i have time to myself (which i usually spend packing dishwasher or washing).
in the afternoons (once lewis wakes) we will usually go for a walk to the oval/park- jimmy will have his sleep in pram while lewis runs around oval/chases ball/plays on playground.
then we basically head home and either just watch some tv, or do some drawing, playdough or just potter around with toys or kick balls out on the deck.
then it's sort of 4.30ish and the day is winding down iykwim? i find the most important thing is to get out early and do something- for everyone's sake. then you can just spend the arvo relaxing.
on night's that your dh is away- i would be bathing them one at a time, or even just showering with one of them iykwim? like get noah to help you bath jacob and then put jacob to bed, and then you and noah have a shower together.
have you got a swing or something like that to put jacob in? i find that buys me a lot of time to spend with lewis, jimmy loves being in his swing and just watching what's going on.
sorry for massive essay everyone!!!!
-
Forgot to say Clare how utterly thrilled I am for your TV action!! Make sure you warn us when your episode is coming on so we can see you in your moment of glory.
-
hi girls,
Clare- how very exciting lucky girl.
Pap- your boys are really beautiful and love the name jacob.
Well the meet up was awesome and yep all the kids loved it and so did I. And can not wait till the next..... Told Katie we should come down to her and have a picnic one weekend. I have posted photos on FB of us girls and I see Jazmum has posted some too. I would be really cool if we could all meet up one day. Well not much else happening. Going to the target sale maybe tomorrow night. Well better go.
Hello to everyone.
-
Oz - Whats wrong with your DH? Hope everything is ok. Hope you can get a rest today, if not any sleep just relax on the couch.
PAP - I love the name Jacob & I agree that J & N go well together.
Leemar - Saw all the pics from the meetup on FB, the pics of the 3 girls together are sooooooo gorgeous!
Arte - Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time with your DH & W's sleep. I dont know if this helps but I now put M to bed every night with a dolly to snuggle, if she gets upset during the night I just re snuggle the dolly into her arms & she is happy. This is all leading up to getting rid of the dummy, well hopefully hehe. Other than that, would you revert back to the cot so that W cant escape from it? I had to do that with M.
MD - Happy belated 17 yr anniversary, thats a huge achievement. I am sorry to hear of your rough time this time around with the chemo, I keep forgetting to check your thread that you update. M is also back in the cot but we are currently doing a bit of reno work & once her room is done, the cot is out so we have no choice but to get used to the toddler bed hehe.
Rainy - Wonder if you worked at CR if you would get a bit of a discount? ;) Would love to work there myself but I am not stylish enough lol. Boys clothes at CR are lovely. M needs new clothes actually...hmmm
Clare - I must be behind with the times as I have no idea what rush is lol. Had a giggle at L sleeping while standing up!
AFM - Went to pick up the toddler slide today & it wouldnt fit in the captiva. So DH has to go back with a ute, such a pain.
Anyone elses child still in the 'babies room' at daycare? They keep telling me they will move M to toddlers soon, I wish they would just do it now. They told me on Tues that she had been pushing the littlies in the 'babies room' & they think she could be bored as when she has visits in the 'toddler room' she has a ball. So hopefully they will move her up in the next two wks.
Apart from that our house is like a bomb site with dust everywhere atm. We have ripped out the carpet, thank goodness, & will be laying flooring this weekend. I am sending M to grandma & grandads for a sleepover on Fri night as DH has to prime the floor with a strong chemical so I dont want her around for that.
-
MM - K is still in the babies room. she has to stay until she is 2 officially, but our centre is fairly small and i think she spends a fair amount of time over with the toddlers.
Rainy - wow you do have your days sorted with all the trips out!! i think i would need to do the same if i was still at home
Arte - we also have a bear (Winston) who is K's favourite and he is always in bed. sometimes she will take other toys too. definitely think it helps her settle having someone with her.
Clare - i still don't remember those shops, too long since i lived there full time!!
going to the accountant tomorrow to do our tax - get to stay home a bit earlier in the morning which will be nice.
