arte- i feel your pain on the indecision of outlaws. that is one of my major gripes with mine-is that they can never give an accurate eta. they just expect people to sit around all day waiting for them. so friggin arrogant if you ask me.
i sensed you were on a bit of a downer a few weeks ago. glad to see you're feeling better.
are you going to co-sleep with the new baby?

clare- sorry to hear about all the stuff going on. i saw on tv last night something aboutthe 'melb real estate boom' gggrrrr. there's no way we could ever live in the city, lucky i'm such a country girl!

md-thanks for checking in on me. dh loved it that i got a message from my internet friends cos i hadn't been on for a few days-thought it was a crack up!

trill- hope everything is getting sorted at your place. i hate man flu!!!

well the visit went pretty well in the end. it was hard cos the weather is so crap and there's not really too much you an do with 2 babies in the rain so i felt like they might've been a bit bored but they assured us they were happy to just chill out and relax and enjoy the country life in front of the fire. we went out to breakfast one day and lewis was out of control climbing of tables etc. so we went to a playcentre to let him go nuts and i think they were a bit freaked out by how much of a hyper monkey he is!
jimmy was loving all the attention,had one small freak out on sat night but luckily they had gone out to catch up with friends in the city.

so i've officially given up caffiene in an attempt to make jimmy easier to settle and it's killing me. my head is pounding!!!!

Rainy, DH doesn't want to co-sleep with the new bub. After all of W's sleep issues he thinks I am going to 'stuff it up' again. I have tried to tell him that it was the feeding to sleep that caused the problems, not the co-sleeping but he thinks they are the same thing. I will see how we go, if it wakes heaps during the night then I am so gunna bring it into bed with us, I don't care what he says because he isn't the one getting up all night! Especially since there is only 9 weeks to go and W woke nearly every hour last night.....
How is it going for you? How is L sleeping these days? After the IL's go we are going to have to make some hard calls about W's sleep - it has been 7 weeks of DH coming in at bedtime and W still panics and cries for me if I am not in there too.

I have been hanging out to hear from PAP too...

Eta, good on you for giving up the caffine! I think it is about 4 days before you stop 'needing' it? That is what they say about ciggies anyway (although years later and I still dream about them lol). Hopefully it works. You have just reminded me that I could barely eat any sugar while BF because it made W windy and grizzley. Hope the next bub isn't like that lol

Off to wait for the IL's to arrive, apparently they will be here some time before lunch or maybe late afternoon....

aarrrggg i hate not knowing an exact time of someone arriving- you poor thing!!!

well i'm happy to tell you that L sleeps really well now. last night he slept from 7.30pm-7.30am with no wake-ups. i finally feel like all my hard work is finally being rewarded. he even has great day sleeps-on friday he slept for 3 hours in the afternoon. it's fantastic.
i really don't think i'll ever know if co-sleeping causes all the problems, i just don't know...but i personally love it. i'm just trying to enjoy my 'last baby' jimmy, so i'm trying to savour the co-sleeping. i'll never know if it's a good or bad thing re: sleep though iykwim?
is w still in his own bed? do you go into him every hour?

the caffiene thing is killing me...just gonna trial it till next sunday. ifit makes a difference then i'm off it for good, if not, then i'm back onit LOL

W is in his own bed - but I am in there too lol. I haven't slept in my bed since the end of April. W calls it dad's bed and dad's room now lol.

I am with you on not knowing if it is a good thing or bad thing re cosleeping, but it is nice to wake up next to them with their sweet little sleeping faces.
I was leaning toward blaming co-sleeping for the clingyness that we have had, but after talking to all of you on here, there seems to be no pattern between clingyness and SAHM/working, cot/cosleeping, daycare/at home etc. I have come to think it is more the personality of the child - W is naturally a cautious and gentle child and seems to need me more for security than other daredevil kids.

Hope you get though the caffine withdrawals....

hehe well i am off for an ultrasound today just a sizing scan etc dont really need it but am happy for the chance to see bubby :) dh cant come which is a bit of a downer.. never been to a scan without him but hes been off work a bit lately and is gonna take 2 weeks off when bubba comes which i suppose could be any time now so he dosnt wanna make his work too cranky with him haha!! cant believe i was 36wks on sunday eeeeeep!! starting to worry heaps more about Asha while im in hospital.. shes become a super clingy mummys girl wanting cuddles all the time and wanting to sleep with me snuggling in all the time.. im sure she knows whats going on and she senses a big change coming and thats why shes doing it and im not sure whether indulging her is the right thing to do but i cant help giving in when i know its not gonna be long before shes not the only child anymore...
we had a big scare last night with her almost went to the hospital! Asha has had a mild allergy to tomatoes but has been growing out of it to the point where she can have a little bit every now and then and only get a few spots on her cheeks.. last night we were having burritos and there were a few tomatoey things and all of a sudden she broke out in a terrible rash all over her face.. i quickly wiped her down and gave her some zertek (sp?) she layed down and was very sooky i checked her stomach and body and there was nothing so i thought all was fine.. about 10 mins later i checked her again and she had a rash all over her tummy too.. we started packing for the hospital rushing round grabbing stuff and as we were about to leave i checked her again and the rash on her tummy was going down phew glad i had the medicine in the cupboard!! am wondering now if its deffinately tomato coz i havnt seen that happen so badly before.. might have to get some allergy testing done...
arte - i dont think co sleeping makes them more sooky or clingy.. until recently asha hasnt been clingy at all and was very much a daddys girl even though when we co slept (which we still do sometimes) she slept with me and wanted me.. think its only that she knows the baby is coming soon that has made her clingy.. goodluck with the visitors.. dhs family are notoriously late it drives me insane!!
rainy - hope your going ok with no caffiene!! i am a total coke addict so i would go nuts without caffiene haha am trying to drink less during pregnancy but its hard!! atleast i cut out the sugarless v hahahahaha!! thats great re l's sleeping i hope A starts sleeping like that asap!!
cassius - sorry to hear your having such a hard time house hunting :( hope it all picks up soon!!
katie - we got xmas done at the toy sales but not birthday.. we got her a little people farm set with animals that make noises etc a bubble machine and a tub of cars coz shes into them atm.. will get her a few small things to go with it when it gets closer..
leanne - happy birthday to the twins!!
anyways i must be off to get ready as mum will be here in about 20mins off for some shopping and then an ultrasound yay!!

Arte, just saw you online and wanted to wish you luck with the inlaws this week! Double dose ARGH! :hug: BTW I think you're right about the clingyness and personality. My friend's eldest sounds just like your W and he was always needed that extra mummy reassurance, for a long time. Other kids in the family completely different tho they were all raised the same and if anything the cosleeping etc got more entrenched the more kids she had so that doesn't cause it at all.

Noni, enjoy your shopping and of course the u/s! Pity DH can't be there but hopefully you can get some piccies.

Hi Girls

Just a quick one from me.

The boys are enjoying ther birthday and yesterday at Movieworld was awesome enjoyed by all. Livi slept in her bed all night last night with out even waking up crying for her dummy. Must have been that having no sleep at movieworld that would have done that... lol

Gotta go Jordy is here and says hi to all.

PAP couldn't go too long without letting her dear babybuddies knowing that she (in fact, we) are proud owners of a newly minted beautiful baby boy!

Little bub (who will be named at a naming ceremony in the coming days) was a healthy weight and size, and is doing beautifully.

Just a little bit about PAP the person...if you'll indulge me...

Many of you may not know all the sides and aspects to my beautiful wife - but here is some anonymous imagery: she is a beautiful woman who only days ago was closing a multi-million dollar deal and is now breastfeeding a new little life like a natural; she is a woman who devotes hours every week to service in our community and who rolls around giggling with our firstborn cheeky little boy till they have no energy left; and she is a woman who soaks up all my complaints/fears/concerns - always with the best advice - and finds time and space to dream about what's around the next corner.

I guess you can tell...I really love her.

I'll let her tell you the details (and she'll also do the birth announcement), but just wanted to let you know we're pretty happy.

Again, in this pregnancy, you've been a great font of advice and support.

Awesome news so happy for you. I bawled my eyes out reading what your hubby just wrote. For the record hubby from what we've read we've already come to the conclusion that PAP is a super mum, juggling work & mummyhood so easily. Just jumped on to have my own little woohoo today...liver enzymes back in the normal zone for first time since at least Oct last year...can't describe how thrilled I am at this evidence that my body CAN and IS healing itself!!!! :D

Arte - Wanted to add my two bobs worth re sleep as well. I think you are right saying that it comes down to the child & their temperament. really enjoy that. Not sure how long Livi will sit still for it. DH leaves again today for emerald and will be back on Friday night I am hoping. Liv is loving her new bed much to my relief dont think I could handle another kid in my bed. Xavier still comes in and Jordy does only sometimes so when we have 4 in the bed it usually ends up with both DH and Myself no getting much sleep or we have to go off into their beds. lol Well better go and start getting ready for the Fam to wake up then I will be off and running.

hey everyone,
well we took Ash to the drs yesterday and he thinks she might have exzema (sp) as she has a bit of a rash on the side of her tummy atm.. weve got a cream to try which he wants us to just put on some of the rash three times a day for three days and see if it clears and if it does then thats what it is.. he also wants us to stop bathing her and just rub her down with sorbalene cream and rinse her off in the shower, this is gonna e a nightmare! Asha hates the shower and loves the bath but he dosnt want her sitting in the water while shes got the rash :( got a referal for the hospital to see a paed about possible allergy testing too since her scare the other day, no idea how long i will have to wait to get in but ill ring them today..
apart from that just plodding along trying to keep my eyes open im soooooooo tired!!

Noni, why don't you get one of the shower hoses (you know, it's rubber and the end just slips over the bath tap) - that way you can sit A in the bath where she normally sits with her toys and just a really shallow amount of water (not near the rash) and just introduce the idea of the shower hose gradually. Then you can graduate to the shower hose without the water in the bath...worth a try. I bet she loves it! (but get ready for mopping up the bathroom afterwards LOL).

Hey everyone keep your fingies crossed for me today. I am a very short step away from failing a subject at uni. Waiting for the Dept Head to approve a status which will give me a couple more months to submit my assignments. :crossfingers: I need all the positive vibes I can get today.

Lucky for me I have a pleasant diversion planned...am meeting my sis, neice & DD1 (had sleepover last night) for morning tea and Hannah Montana movie. My sis asked how long the movie would go and I said...not long, there's usually not much plot involved LOL. But it will be good for a laugh and I know the girls will love it!

Noni: man oh man, that does sound tricky. i like MDs idea of the hose. we use one with Leila and it seems to do the trick of rinsing without too much drama.

Leanne: you have such an exciting life! but true, not sure how long leila would cope with sitting either...do let us know!!!

Arte: i'm with you as well. i think alot of it comes down to the child. we wanted to co-sleep with Leila and she totally baulked at the idea. she cant stand being in the vicinity of us when she is sleeping. the other night i was singing her to sleep and patting her and she said: 'No...way mamma' (go away mumma!!!). humph. each kid has their very own way and personality and the as long as they know we love them and care for them the way we raise them to sleep (ie cosleep or in own cot/bed) has IMO very little bearing on that.

AFM: getting better here. just trying to sort one thing out at a time. today is a half day of PhD (DH gave me last minute warning of a meeting...grrrrr), and then i need to organise my trip to toowoomba for the funeral stuff and for my Oma who is having major surgery (and we have been told that she is at high risk of not making it). so all in all it is a challenging week past and an even harder one coming up. i guess July is not my month.

MD- I am crossing:crossfingers::crossfingers::crossfingers: all my fingers and toes for you and have fun at the movies.
Noni- My Cousin Sandi her son has exzerma and she baths him in sorberline ( she just squirts some in bath water) and my dad also showers using sorberline.

Well DD hasn't been well. Was sick most of the weekend, really bad cough to the extent that she vomited after coughing spasms. Took her to the doctor on Monday but they weren't too worried, but when we picked her up from kindy yesterday there was a letter from NSW Health saying there is a case of whooping cough at her centre. So I'm waiting to hear back from the doctor if they want her to come in for tests or anything. She is fully immunised, but apparently it's only about 85% effective so she might still have a mild case. Not very nice watching her cough though. Even DH slept with her one night, I didn't think he'd ever cosleep!!

arte- a friend of mine who has twin boys born oct 07 took one of the boys to a pead b/c he is still waking constantly overnight. this boy speaks in full sentences, the other twin does not talk at all. the paed says that he has trouble switching his mind off and just cannot sleep for long periods of time. i think w is a bit like this too as he's so smart.

girls should i be doing anything yet about lewis' non-speaking?

Cally- Oh no I hope she hasnt got whooping cough. Hope she is feeling better soon poor little mite
Rainy- does he say any words. Jordy didnt really talk much at that age because Xavier was allways talking for him and over him. May be say something to your doctor when you see him next.

Rainy - M is barely speaking, she has a few words but most of what she says is mumble jumble. I am not worrying too much yet, maybe around the 2ish mark? I'm not sure though, I'm sure the more experienced mama's will have some words of wisdom for you.

MD - Good luck, I hope you dont have any issues with uni. Surely they can be lenient on you considering your circumstances?

Cally - Thats scary! I hope it isnt whooping cough, whatever it is it sounds nasty. Poor thing, hope she gets over it soon.

Noni - When M had her case of excema we used cetaphil only.

Girls we had foxtel installed today, had a quick look but meh...not much into tv during the day! Made a beautiful banana cake if I can say so myself, bet M will devour a bit when she wakes up.

Ah Clare, it sounds like you're having such a horrible time right now. So sorry I can't be there and take you out for a steaming hot choccy and a slice of death-by-chocolate at Kokoblack. Sounds like you're going to needing some RSC (radical self care) pretty soon. xxx and :hug:

Rainy, if you're worried, ask the doctor or the MCHN and get on a waiting list to get him assessed. The waiting lists are usually a few months long so by the time the session comes round you'll have a better idea of whether you still think it might be a problem or not, kwim? I'm thinking of getting Missy E assessed (privately, thru the speechie that DD1 saw) -- not because she's not talking but because the clarity isn't quite there. These things run in families so it's something we need to keep an eye on. When I win the lottery and can pay for it LOL. Will get her hearing etc assessed thru the public system first though.

Cally, fingers crossed it's not the whooping cough (and if it is hopefully it will be much milder because of the immunisation, kwim)? Poor little chookie. :hug:

Problem with Uni is I didn't realise there was a cut off date for the paperwork. So now I have to throw myself on their sense of mercy/pity. The doctor went into quite a lot of detail in the letter and I've got to say, if I'd read all that happened to someone else I would be inclined to err on the side of leniency too. WE'll see.

BTW the Hannah Montana movie was excellent - had some quite funny parts in it. Gosh her brother is a crackup, he has the same dress sense as my DH LOL.

MD, good luck with uni, I like to think that most people are reasonable and would realise that you have had a lot on your mind. It is a secret shame of mine that I like Hannah Montana - purely to catch a glimpse of Billy Ray!! Achey Breaky Heart will always be one of the best for me.

MM, I find that with pay t.v there is still nothing on - just takes longer to find out lol. Is your DH still enjoying the plasma?

Rainy, that does sound like W. He sleep talks sometimes about the most random things - the other night he woke talking about batteries, he is obsessed with them. Out of the entire toy catalogue he went past all the toys and spent ages looking at the ad for batteries lol
I wouldn't worry about L's talking yet, there are a bunch of kids from sept-oct 07 at mothers group that range in vocab from W who is perfecting syntax to another boy who has not a single word and then there are about 4 kids at various stages inbetween. They all say that boys are slower to talk too. Apparently heaps of kids will go from not much language to heaps of words really quickly at around the 2 year mark. But as MD said, if you are worried get on a waiting list because you can always pull out if he is talking by the time the appointment rolls around.

Clare, I missed your post about you grandfather. No wonder you are in a funk. Wish I could do something to cheer you up.

Cally, hope that K doesn't have whooping cough. It has been around town here lately and I was worried when W picked up his latest cold - he still hasn't had his 15 month immunisations (mix of constant colds and uncertainty on my part)

Aww, congrats to the PAP (newly extended) family. I had tears reading of how proud her DH is of our beautiful PAP. I wish you a fantastic babymoon and can't wait to hear how it all turned out...and of course the wonderful naming announcment.

Loving having the cricket back on - can pop on here in the evenings and not feel at all guilty because DH is plastered to the TV!!

MD - fingers crossed the uni is lenient on you. great news on the liver front.

Rainy - K only has said a couple of words and they aren't often repeated IYKWIM? The speechie we saw wasn't too worried as DH and I both spoke quite late and K was obviously fully understanding everything that was asked of her. We were told to try and make her vocalise instead of point (like do you want milk or juice - but don't have them there in front of her at first so she can point to them), have toys that she can make noises with (ie cars that you can make beep beep noises as you move them around so she gets the idea from that). The big one for us was not to talk in full sentences, just focus on the key word. Rather than say 'Did you want some more?', just say 'more?' Also encourage her to say it afterwards 'more. Katie say more'. Also it probably took us almost 2 months between the referral from the MCHN and actually seeing the speechie through the public system.

Noni - hope the excema isn't too bad, I'm sure she will get the hang of showers quickly.

Can't say I have seen much of Hannah Montana, but seeing as I record H2O, Just Add Water (great teenage mermaid show) I think I would probably be into it.

The doctor didn't ring back today so I'm not sure to take it that they aren't concerned or that she didn't get the message. Although the receptionist I spoke with has a daughter in the toddler group and I know they play with each other a fair bit so I think for her own peace of mind she would have made sure the doctor got the message.

Some of my school friends are getting together (without babies) for dinner next week and DH told me I should go up to Canberra for the night so I think I will do that. Will be staying with my sister so I can catch up with her too so that will be good. I'm having all of next week off work so will have to take DD out by herself a few afternoons to make it up to DH (especially as he will be home with her all the next week)

once again, i'm only on for a quickie... Pap I'm so happy for you!!!! Congratulations on the birth of your precious little boy. And, as everyone has commented - what an absolutely wonderful hubby you have. Being loved and loving is what life is all about.

hey everyone,
thanks for the hose idea md i got dp to pick one up and it worked a treat.. we are only using sorbelene to wash her except for her hair and are using after the bath too as shes quite dry.. dr isnt sure if its eczema for sure yet but we have a paed appt today so maybe he can clear it up for me.. spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday ringing around to different paed offices trying to get asha in to talk about allergy testing as well as to get her rash looked at and a possible asthma assesment *sigh* why now?? finally got someone to feel sorry for me because before this place the only appt i could get was september!! even with private paeds which this one is too! basically she just double booked me coz i said id be happy to wait if it meant we could see someone, me being so heavily pregnant and also considering asha has come up in welts a few times now and we dont know what it is!! eeek
anti natal appt this morning and that this avo shopping and lunch in between with mum.. gonna be a big day! ive been so lazy lately too just laying around, no motivation or energy!!
interesting re kids that cant switch their brains off i think that might be Asha too.. even when she comes into bed with us sometimes she will roll over in the middle of the night and shake u to wake u up and just look at you with very wide eyes and say "hiiiii mummy" its very cute but can be very frustrating in the middle of the night!!
md - meant to say also have my fingers and toes crossed for you!!

Actually that makes sense, they are always on the go during the day, must be hard to switch off their brains at night. I know if I dont have a 'wind down' time after work or a full day, I take forever to get to sleep.

Noni - What a mission trying to get an appt. Glad you got one in the end, hope you can get some answers and get to the bottom of it.

Cally - Thanks for that info it has helped me too. I will start trying using one words and encouraging her to repeat.

MD - I like your idea of booking for a speechie now & cancelling if need be. Might do that for M actually. I am actually thinking of having her hearing tested, she always had ear aches when she was younger & I notice her ear is often really gunky - dont know if that would be anything suss but the doc always comments on it but doesnt seem bothered. Arte - LOL Billy Ray are you serious!? HEHEHEHE so funny. YES DH is still loving his plasma. As for foxtel, its a bit over rated I think, but we are on the basic $40 a month package anyway. The top package is like $100 odd a month!!!!

Off to toddler town with M this morning, seeing as we had an indoor day yesterday & toddler gym has finished for the term. I signed her up again for next term, its only $75 per term & she loves it. Apart from that it works off so much steam she has a good sleep after it.

Does anyone know what age they start dancing? M is still loving her dancing, I think she will be like me & my sisters, we are all dancy people lol.
