Clare - So sorry to hear that you are going through such a hard time. Your poor Opa he must be so upset as well. I hope your action plan makes a huge difference to your Oma. is she bed ridden in hospital? How old is she if you dont mind me asking?

Rainy - Bronchiolitis is so rough on them when they are bubs. How is L, has he got it as well? J must be just miserable. M had it at 9 months old & that was soooo bad, it took her a good few weeks to get rid of the cough & be back to 'normal' again. We just used the vapouriser every night theres not much else you can do. It was going around at daycare a few weeks ago, thats when M got really sick & i was in hospital. So I'm sure she had it a bit but it wasnt as bad as the first time around at 9 mths.

Noni - No way I can imagine how full on it is to have an active toddler and be 37 wks pregnant, what a mission! I am eagerly waiting on the arrival of your little one.

PAP - Feeling good about things now, thanks for asking. Still very nervous about ttc but trying not to worry about it just yet. So glad things are running smoothly in your household with the introduction of bubba boy! N sounds so cute with him. As for your mum, what a star! Must have been nice having her help, I wouldnt discourage it but at the same time I could understand your feelings of wanting your own space with your new extended family.

MD - LOL good luck, I second Myer or DJ's they always have nice little flower girl/communion dresses. Be prepared to spend $100 though!!!

Leemar - Glad the needles went well & had a giggle at the boys yelling out at Mickey, too cute!

Arte - Sounds like you are having some progress with W & his sleep, so hang in there. Thats great that he is fine with the in laws, really he sounds like such an interactive sociable little boy so I really think you have no worries there. Are you going to leave him with the in laws while you have this bubba?

Falguni - Sounds like Fiji was just the kind of break that you needed, seeing how others live really puts life into perspective & makes you realise just how much you really have. I was the same when we went to Penang last yr with M, alot of families over there dont have much at all & I came back & looked at Maddie's pile of toys & felt so guilty! How nice to be invited to have dinner with the Fijian family, very lucky, they sound like beautiful people over there.

Trill - Hope A starts sleeping well for you, he was sleeping pretty good at one point wasnt he? M is forever changing, we go 3 wks of good sleep & DH & I think 'YES, we've finally got this sleep thing sorted' & then its followed by 3 wks of bad sleep LOL.

Oz - Forgot to say hope L's molars come through quick if thats what it is. I am dreading those ones!

Just went to enroll in a pilates course, but none of the times suited me . So annoying!

MM, good to see you, was wondering how you were getting on. No, won't be leaving W with the IL's - they live at the other end of the country.

Clare, I am so sorry to hear about your Oma. I would be exactly the same as your Opa in that situation, sometimes you need to have blind optimism to cope. Do you mind me asking what is wrong with her?

MD, hope you found a good dress for H. I never ever went shopping with my mum, she bought clothes for me and then when I was older she just gave me cash. We aren't shopping people. Was it H's idea to do the holy communion? Or a family thing? Just being nosey, don't need to answer that.

Rainy, LOL - I am sure the newborn thing is loads harder than I remember, it has gone all rosey coloured in my memory now.

Leanne, you trip is coming around quickly, I am jealous!

Cally, did you ask about the GD? I am not saying much because I really really don't want to jinx myself, but sugar levels are still good. It was this week last pregnancy that I started on insulin so I am quietly optimistic. Haven't got any solid plans for the birth, but the midwives are flexable so if it is night and W is sleeping then we can just stay at home, otherwise I might see if my mum can come up to watch him and go to the birth centre down the road. Only prob is that mum is two hours away and she works nightshift so wouldn't be able to come at short notice at nighttime (she is the only carer on at a disabled house).

Went for a walk today for the first time in ages and had BH contractions every few minutes. It is still sitting at 4-5th engaged which can only get more uncomfortable the bigger it gets. I think that when 37 weeks rolls around I should be able to do the chicken dance and this kid will just fall right out!

I was liking the name Tessa for a couple of days there, but then I put it with the -ell end of our surname and it came out sounding too much like testicle for my liking. Back to the drawing board.

LOL Arte!! Ohhhh its such a beautiful name but dont go there hahaha! What a shame. What about if you made it a hyphenated name, like Tessa-Anne for example, that breaks it up a bit.

Tossing up whether to do pilates on a Thurs morning, it goes for 45 mins and I'd have to leave M in the creche. On top of that we have toddler gym on a Wed morning & uni on a Friday morning. I like having at least one day a week free. Ahhhhh! Damn my hubby working till 6.00 every night!

MM: my oma is at home. but she basically is sleeping all day. she is in her mid-70s. i guess i am in shock as the downhill has been very quick (she was a spritely thing when i was there in December).

arte-yeah i think give Tessa a miss too....what about Jessica? or another name i've been loving lately is Victoria.

mm-yeah i get a bit stressed when i've got too many 'locked in' committments. can you just do pilates casually?
my dh is doing over-time atm and gets home at 7pm everynight- i can't stand it!! but he's earning $450 a day atm so i can't really complain too much..

clare-did you check out the dresses? i'm so norti, but i love that her dresses are cut for 'real women' iykwim and they're lovely to have in the cupboard ready to go for if a special occasion pops up....not that i ever go anywhere other than the bakery these days.

Yes for newborn mainly. The hug a bub website says it can go up to 2-3 years? Is it not very good after the little bub stage? What about the close carrier? I doubt I would be using it much after 6ish months anyways.

Has anyone got a pouch sling? How are they?

yeah they say that....but i think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone carrying a 2yo in it. there's no way i could put lewis in it.
i've never seen a close carrier irl but they look really good.

i love my hug-a-bub. it's been a life-saver. you should be able to pick up a second hand one for about $50 on ebay.

Arte, personally I would go for something tht you are gong to get maximum use out of, from newborn right through to toddlerhood as they are so exxie to have too many. Go for either the Ergo or a meiTai as they are really flexible with the positions you can have and also you can use them for ages.

G, I hope that the poor little fella is over the worst of it so you can all start getting some decent sleep :hug: It's so hard to see them so sick and know you can't do anything to help them.

MD, do they still need the whole white dress thing for their communion? If so I found LOADS of places for dresses LOL - I am over the whole 'search the web for flowergirl dresses' thing.

H, how are you feeling now hun? Any ideas on where you're going from here with TTC?

Noni, I just got on with it - didn't have time to sit and wallow in all my heavily pg glory LOL because I had to help DH with carting water and feeding sheep every day because it was the first year of the drought and it was really tough. I didn't have any prelabour with Erin so it wasn't a drama really anyway. Just do the best you can :hug:

So far the sleeping has gone great - the first night he was like 'nonononononononononono' when he realised he wasn't sleeping out in the loungeroom, but he was fine after a while if I stayed next to the cot. He was far too tired to protest much that first night anyway. Last night was also really good and only took 1/2hr to get him to a deep enough sleep so I could leave. I do have to have the telly on in our room though as he likes it on. Not sure how it will go tonight as we were out most of the day and he slept the whole way home for an hr, so it might be harder. The first night was harder for me getting used to him being in the room with me again ROFL. I kept waking up whenever he made a noise.

Took him for his 18mth check up today LOL - only a few months late. he has met all his milestones and even many of the ones for 3 year olds, mostly fine motor skills etc. Weight is bang on average, height is well above average and overall A-OK.

Have finally found The Dress(es) for the girls - just plain a-line. Decided to get them made as it will just be a PITA to get them from the US.

Not sure what to get Alister for his birthday now - was thinking about a little BMX bike, but lately he has learnt how to ride the scooters, so he loves that. Might get Mum to get the one we don't get him. Was checking out the target sale next week as they had little bikes.

Arte, if you were *biggish* like me, I would send you over my hotsling to use, but I think you might be a fair bit smaller than me, so it would be too big for you.

Glad A's sleeping is improving. W used to take ages to go to sleep with just me, but since DH has been coming in too he is usually asleep in under 20 minutes which is great.

A scooter sounds like fun. So far we have got a little replica chainsaw and I will get a sturdier wheelbarrow, since DH seems to be forever doing firewood and W loves to help. We were also thinking maybe some sort of bug farm, as much as I don't want little critters in the house I know he would absolutely love it. Can't believe our babies are nearly 2! And that they still don't sleep! No one puts that in the brochure.

Hello I have missed you all and just wanted to say hi. I have been trying to keep but but am doing a really bad job lol.

Arte we had a HAB when L was newborn, then I bought an Ergo which I love. We have bought a close carrier for this bub but obviously no reviews from me just yet. I love how it feels though. DH loves the Ergo, he feels more masculine I think KWIM. If you do see something you want on ebay though I dont mind having it sent to my house and then shipping it to you.

Rainy I hope little J is better soon and you can get some rest. Is your dad able to take L for a day so he can run around etc?

Have any of you got the game 'Elefun"? I got it out for Hannah yesterday and we played it - she giggled the whole time, it was so funny. I tried to get it on video but my battery was too low.

I found a Teletubbie at the ABC shop today! There was a stand with them on - little beanie ones. Hannah spotted them and said 'bubbies". I picked up Laalaa (because she is my fave ;)) and Hannah pointed and said 'poe' - so that is who we bought. I got a couple of dvd's as well, because we've watched the same one over and over for too long.

Anyway, off to bed for an early night.

Hope we all get an unbroken sleep tonight. (who am i kidding!!!!)

Hey jaz! We only have the one teletubby video that I inherrited from my youngest brother LOL. These kids were never really that into them to warrant buying more of them, so the one has been plenty! We also got this big la-la toy that talks too. I didn't think it would still be working after all those years, but its fine. Myer has quite a reasonable range of tt toys too.

Oz, I saw the shots you put up the other day - bellybabe is growing nicely by the look of it :)

Arte, I know! we were so spoilt with the other three and their sleeping that we've gotten our comeuppance now LOL. If you check out hotslings and get their sizing measurements and a size 6 is your size, I will send mine over to you. Even if you get something else, it would be a handy backup for jic.

Well we've had another sucessful bedtime! was a little bit later tonight, but still only half an hour and not as much mucking around either. I was even able to get up and go to the kitchen while he was still half awake and not have him climb out and follow me :rolleyes: I am really hoping that this lasts or I just don't know what I would have done next.

Jazah - great work on the tellytubbies - huge fave in our house, tho we have nasty american-voice dvds. We have a setting of nesting tellytubbies, Missy E plays with them heaps.

Dress - yeah lots of lovely dresses in Myer provided your daughter is a size 3-8!!! Found a lovely frock but they didn't have the over jackety thing in H's size so still not too sure how to proceed. ARGH. Trill would welcome your website tips BUT H seems to be taller and thinner than the average dress-size girls so the fitting is going to be tricky no matter what.

Arte - kind of my idea and kind of her idea - she goes to a catholic school and has been happy to soak up the religious education since she started there. It also helps with her sense of belonging in the school/church community (since we've all suffered from a huge dose of outsiderness for the last 5 years). It's also a nice excuse for a family celebration that centres on her - she's missed out a lot family-wise over the last 5 years so we're making a bit of a thing of it.

Scooters sound like heaps of fun, I think I saw some in the target catalogue?

MD, even ebay has loads of gorgeous dresses and many of them are sized up to a 14 even. There were some absolutely gorgeous ones on a us site flowergirldressforless and really reasonably priced. It seems as soon as you mention the word 'wedding' or 'communion' they add $$ to the pricetag here in aus.

Trill - WOW hitting 3 yr old milestones, thats excellent! Good news on the sleeping, I hope things keep progressing this well for you. We are waiting 3 months before ttc again, besides that we are off to Bali in Oct so I wouldnt want to go there in my first trimester with morning sickness & the worry of what can I eat. So hopefully we will bring home a Bali baby, that would be perfect but not feeling all that positive about that to tell the truth!

Arte - We have the ergo & although I dont use it on Mad anymore, it was great when we were using it.

Sorry for being MIA, I've got a fair bit going on here at home between DH and myself. I'm really lost and unsure of what to do. I'd go into it further but currently am losing vision of the screen through the tears. ;).

Arte- i had Lu in the HAB in Fiji. She faced out on my front. She loved it. We mainly have her on our back in the ergo though. Although you can use the HAB up until they are bigger, it is not as convienient as you have to have them on the front.
I use my ergo almost daily. I put lu on my back in it and put sas in the stroller of just carry the capsule when i am running errands.i have been known to have Lu on the back in the ergo and sas on the front in the hab.

If i was purchasing a new carrier i could get a pikkolo or meitai. The pikkolo is a structured carrier a bit like an ergo but you can sinch in the material around the babies bum when they are new born and carry them on the front without having to be in the froggy position. Melbel from Wrigglebots is an mpm on here and sells babyhawk mai tais. She is also a kiwi, not that that makes any difference!
Nelle, a mod here, has both of these, maybe ask her what she thinks.

Also i buy things off ebay in the states, just email the seller and ask if they will post to NZ. There is a group called baby carriers down under. They sell second hand carriers on there. I'm sure one of the lovely ladies would post to NZ.

If i was buying a new wrap carrier i'd get the Close carrier over the HAB. It is esentailly the same in they way it supports the baby and distributes weight, but easier to put on as you don't have to wrap the whole thing.... If you want a HAB, there are cheaper alternatives, and lots of places
(blogs & forums) will give you instructions on how to make your own and what fabric to use.

I keep forgetting to tall you all about the plane trip....
The girls were pretty good. Lu was great except when she had to be buckled in. But we bought a dvd player. (I was one of those mum's who was NEVER going to have a TV in the car. It will now go on the back seat for long drives. :rofl:) So we put that on towards the end when she was sick of drawing. On the way back i think the colds were setting in. They were both unhappy coming down into Sydney. Sas was just a bit fussy and squirmy. But Lu screamed. I mean really screamed. You know the type of scream when the whole plane is looking at you. :redface: A lady came and gave her a lolly, but it was menthol and she started screaming more! I was dreading the flight to melbourne. But i bought a bag of snakes. And she pretty much ate the whole bag during take off and landing, but at least there was no screaming! :lol:

Going to clean my kitchen. I've lost my mobile in the house somewhere. Hoping to find it :doh:

Oh no Ange! I had a vicks vapodrop the other day and of course Alister wanted one :rolleyes: so I said righto, but you wont like it. So he puts it in his mouth and it's fine till the menthol kicks in and then he takes it out, wipes his tounge on his sleeve, pops it back in till it gets hot again and then wipes his tounge again. It was sooo funny. Have you tried phoning your phone? I have done that to find mine sometimes LOL.

Arte: my oma has diverticulosis (sp?). something to do with the bowel etc. she has had it all her life basically but this is the worst and most sustained acute attack she's had yet.

as for slings: i have the ellaroo ring sling and love it. have used it from day dot basically and still use it. Leila sits on my hip or on my back with now. also have ergo (mostly for DH). we use this when we have treks and she pops on the back. i found this a *bit* sticky in summer though. can't go past my ring sling. also good as an emergency wrap/nappy change mat LOL!

Clare - diverticulitis is horrible...basically it's an infection in the pockety bits of your bowel, it can be v. v. painful and when your bowel's not working everything else feels crapola too. The good news is it's an area of the body where a naturopathic approach can work wonders.

Rainy - $450 a day(!) I hope you've got a nice little negatively geared property or two stashed away or the taxman's gonna love your DH this year!

MM - that's wonderful that you're heading to Bali in Oct...it's a bit of a magical place I've heard ;).

Ange - sorry but that is the *best* well-timed-lolly story I've heard :lol:. You do what you gotta, hey? :)

Leanne- I'd be getting 2 bags for your big stint! ;) Another tip, take as little carry on as you can. Between wrangling two kids we had too much stuff with us, i had just about everything in case of emergency, but could have taken alot less.

MD- Havn't had an update on how you're going lately. How those follicles holding up?

Ange - Did Lu have her own seat or did you strap her to yourself/dh? I am nervous about our flight in Oct with missy M but I will be using your snakes trick lol. Also like the idea of the portable dvd, whack in some Hi 5 for M & she will be right for a bit hehe. Also she has her own seat this time around so I am kinda hoping that makes things easier.

yah!! last night jimmy actually slept from 12pm-3am. the first time all week he's slept so long.i really hope this means he's getting better. poor little fella.

MM- We didn't buy a seat for Lu, we did get a basinette every leg though. The plane was full on the way over so the girls were on our knees. On the way back we had a seat between us, it did make it a bit easier, purely for the reason we had more room. DVD was a life saver on a few occasions.

I've been meaning to ask, MD and Trill, in a thread a while back you both said you'd published books, did i read that correctly? What did you write about? I am very impressed!

AFM: leila woke up this morning and decided to speak in SENTENCES!!!!!! like eeny weeny tiny ones, but sentences all the same!!! i am proud as punch! man i love my girl. she does dance moves every morning now for me now too. so cute! although yesterday the carers at kindy recounted the 'horror' nappy explosion that she did LOL! they reckon that it was EVERYWHERE. like including on the floor :o. they couldnt believe it. i was like: 'that's ma gal!' LOL! so funny and so so gross.

Oh yeah! I did say that ages ago LOL Ange, you have a great memory. Technically I didn't write it, its a compliation of family histories of this area for a reunion weekend back in march 07 so all I did was retype it and lay it out in the book. But I am down as the author of it. The neighbouring district wanted me to do theirs as well and I politely declined LOL - way too much work and there were a few dramas following the first one that completely turned me off ever doing one again.

Leanne, that's lovely of you to offer :hug: but it's all sorted - got a pattern the other day and took it to the dressmaker today. I have absolutely no idea where they were actually located anyway LOL.

Went and had my hair coloured today - it's been nearly 12mths since I last had it done, just a few foils and then an all over colour. She cut it a little differently too, and I'm not sure how it will look once I wash it as she blowdried it straight (which is waaaayy weird) and once it's washed it will look different wavvy. I hope it doesn't look crap LOL, would not be happy at all.

Trillian how is the hair looking this morning? I would love to get my hair done might have to book it in soon.

I need your help with names ladies. We have shortlisted 2 boys names but we are stuck on girls (it was the same when pg with L). Dh likes Holly, I like it but don't love it IYKWIM. I want something feminine, not to common and not to weird lol. I love Eloise and Luella (I hope thats ok Ange). I have a scan booked in today and can't wait!

:cheer: Yay, of course it's ok. I love when other people love names we do. Luella is a great name! I loved Eloise too, a friend has an Eloise, She gets called Elly................................. but Luella is heaps better. :p

So, i don't often indulge but i am going to have a little mummy gloat....... Lu counted to ten, unassisted, while building blocks up yesterday. I was on the computer and could not believe my ears. I've never heard her say anything but two, three. Of course she wouldn't do it when hubby got home. :rolleyes: But i was so proud and surprised. :D
