Hi ladies, I'm Ange. I had my little girl Luella on the 28/9. A week early, induced due to preeclampsia. I have been hanging out with my oct-buddies, but thought i might introduce myself to you ladies. i heard you were a lovely bunch! ( ;) Gracie )
Things are going well here, L is a pretty content bub, although she has her moments!
Hope you don't mind a late thread crasher, looking forward to getting to know you all. :)
-
Howdy everyone, it certinly has been busy in here.
Noni I am not having the vaccine, I heard it is better for people who are not yet sexually active or have multiple partners as it only protects against the HPV virus. Since I am married and and only DTD with DH I am not going to bother. I could be very wrong though.
Fianne could Max be going through a growth spurt? Maybe thats why she is being fussy?
Hayley Logan likes to kick his blankets off so I was thinking about the summer sleeping bags. At the moment we just put him in a short sleeved suit with a muslin wrap and i change him at one of his feeds if it has cooled down to much.
Sherie great to hear your tanks are full. Also good news that Alisters skin is getting better. I have bought some paw paw and out in the cupboard, I hear its a good all round cream to have.
We caught up with a few people from our antenatal class yesterday, it was lovely and everyones babies were so cute. We have decided to make it a regular thing now. The BB's are feeling better but I am still using the shields for now as the crack is still pretty big. We took Logan to the beach this morning but it was to windy to stay long. He looked adorable in his rash shirt and speedos though (will put pics in the gallery).
Hi to everyone else, hope you have had a good start to the week.
ETA when Logan cries now he really drops the bottom lip it is so supa cute, I cant help but laugh when he does it.
-
Hey Gracie! we posted at the same time. I wish I would get my AF so I can start taking the pill again - I hate using condoms and it could be a while before Dh can get the "Brick treatment" as he calls it LOL. I have been having cramps, and I keep expecting her to show up but nothing yet.
Hi Ange and Welcome! Luella is such a pretty name. Have things been going well for you all? And how is your BP settling down?
Katie, that's great you've all decided to keep meeting up. It is so handy to have a support network of people who are going through the same thing. Glad the boobies are better too.
-
hi Ange!!
good to see you, you'll love it in here. had a look at the photos of luella. she's beautiful!!
katie- interesting to know that about the vaccine. if that's true i won't bother getting it either.
sherie- we posted at the same time again!! so does getting af mean i can go on the pill? we haven't dtd yet so it hasn't been as issue yet. will ask ob on my check up appointment on dec 3. i have to ask you sherie, do you pronounce your name as though it ryhmes with tree or merry iykwim?? it does my head in when i say it in my head as i never know which way to say it...:p
-
Sherie, thanks for your kind words. Yesterday we had some pouring rain in Melb too, felt good :) Good to hear Alister face is better
Gracie, was it cold up in the hill yesterday? I hope I am not making you scared. You’re doing such a great job and I don’t think mastitis affects everyone.
Marydean, thanks for the acidophilus suggestion, I need to keep reminding myself to buy it. What did you take, inner health plus? And how’s your wound btw? I might also ask thedr about the ultrasound.
I am a bit sad that Aus Idol is almost over, this is the best time to sing with your hairbrush LOL
About the hairy baby thing, my friend’s baby has lots of hair and one of the nurse said she looks like an orangutan(sp?) ... I think that’s rude, cause she is so cute with all the hair.
LOL at your dinner story :)
Katie, have you tried lansinoh or changing position? I found feeding in lying position helps, I think DS attachs better while I lie down.
Ella, good on you to have such a routine established! It’s hard for us, I don’t think he is into it. Me too love watching him sleeping :) even at 3 or 4 in the morning
Hayley, he is sleeping in my HAB atm, I am currently loving it. Which colour are you getting? I have the light green / beige one (cant remember what it’s called).
I had pap smear during the 6 week check, but that’s because mine’s due in December.
Cally, hope Katie wont catch it
Artechim, sorry to hear that you had a rough night. Is he going through somekind of growth spurt? Hope you can get some rest.
Fianne, sorry I cant give you any advice as I am new to BF as well. But I think I read a thread here that you cant run out of milk if your baby still sucking (pls correct me if I am wrong, but you might want to look under the BF thread).
Noni, hope Asha is better tonight. About the sleeping bag, does she like it? I havent had the vaccines
DH decided to ask some guys to renovate our bathroom and toilet (I actually disagree). And of all days, they started today! Poor DS with all the loud noises. They said it’ll be at least 5 days. And we don’t have any water now, they stopped the tap. But I shouldnt complain though, remembering what Sherie has gone through with water
Hope Queenie & Sasha are doing well
ETA Welcome Ange, love the name Luella, so sweet :)
-
hi ladies! thanks for the reassurances and advice...will try the suggestions.
bad night last night? well, it wasn't a real bad night...except for the fact that it was my very first night all alone with max. dp had flown up to townsville for work (back tonight) yesterday. got a text message from him early this morning to say how great it was to wake up after a full night's sleep and that we should do that 1x a week. schedule a good sleep night each. to recover from all the other nights. :)
max seems to sleep better (during the day and at night) when she's all wrapped up but she does wriggle her arms out through the night.
gotta go...max fussing....
-
hi agnes!!!
yes it has been bloody cold up here lately. i have the heater on evey day..you have the same colour hab as me (sage) sometimes i feel like a yoda or something in it. i kind of wish i'd got the navy/berry one now. oh well!
-
Gracie, LMAO at you looking like Yoda! And it's Sherie as in merry LOL - we had a thing a while back with Cherie (another mod) as she is Cherie as in tree LMAO and everyone had it around the wrong way. You can only take the min pill while BF - definately ask your Dr about it at your check up.
Agnes, you will have to post pics of the bathroom when it is done. Do you not think it needs renovating? And complain all you want about the water - its an inconvenience not to have any.
-
Wish i had a "Yoda" HAB, mine is black and gets too hot on a sunny day!
Thanks for warm welcome.
Sherie- Bp slowly coming down. At its peak it was 174/126, now about 150/95. (Pre-preg it was 120/80) So much better. Ob said it can take a few weeks to settle down.
Agnes- Your name was on our short list. Agnes Water is a fav town of ours in QLD, we thought about naming Luella after it! Maybe the next one. ;)
-
so many posts lol.
Gracie I am pretty sure I have AF back. I posted 2 weeks ago about some bleeding and have some more now, sound slike my verry irregular Af is back. I thought I might get a few more months of no Af since I am BF but no such luck oh well.
Ange welcome and congrats on the birth of Luella, what an absolutley gorgeous name. How did you come up with it?
Agnes I am using lansinoh and do alot of feeds laying down. I think he is just not attaching properly, being lazy. I will go and see an LC and see what she says. Thanks for the advice though.
Sherie I too wondered about how to pronouce your name and I had it the other way round lol.
Better go keep an eye on dinner
-
ooohh thanks merry sherie:clap:i feel so much better now that i know. i used to work with a lady named sherie (merry) brown and she was lovely. very pretty too!
katie- i'm spewing about af! i was loving not having it.
so who do we think is going to win the melb cup tomorrow? sticking with the bb purple theme i'm thinking maybe purple moon??;)
-
Hi Ange, welcome to our little September "family" - I agree Luella very pretty name and quite unusual!
Agnes, I just bought the Blackmores acidophilus (trust the brand) - it has acidophilus and bifidus. I also eat Vaalia yoghurt, my friend (dietician) said it's the only yoghurt in Australia that has enough units of culture in it to affect the bowel health. HTH. Who are you going for in Aus Idol? I was barracking for young Ben but now he's gone I'm going for young Matt. Those are two awesomely talented young thaings.
Wound much better, still gets a bit sore if I have to carry E for too long (means I can't use the sling as much as I'd like to) and especially after I did my coughing last week (!) But it looks much better and I'm not worried about it turning bad again now.
OMG Sherry I've been calling you Shereeeeee all this time (!!) I never even thought to pronounce it any different - so sorry!
LOL about Yoda HABs - mine's a kinda army browny greeny but it's got the nice indigenous picture on the front panel...had it made up in the large size especially. Like everyone else, worried about summer heat, but i'll have my new accidental purple sling by then! LOL
Sorry no good on teh gee gees, only ever go in the sweep at work, pity cos I'm related to the waterhouses...!
ETA - later in your lactation (ie once baby is on solids) and provided there are no supply problems, you can actually go onto a very low dose combined pill... I went on one around the 6 mth mark no problems - it provided peace of mind since I'd got AF back and the minipill is not as effective once you're actually ovulating regularly.
-
gosh so many posts and i was only on a little while ago
md - glad the wound is getting better...
gracie - lol i didn't even know it was melbourne cup tmw haha
katie - gl with the lactation consultant
welcome Ange your little girl is beautiful!!!
lol merry sherie - glad youve been getting some rain.. Ashas been a bit better today but she is still quite spewy mostly they are "happy spews" lol i dnt worry about it unless she is unsettled she does have reflux but sometimes she is just spewy...
agnes - she dosnt mind the sleeping bag its called a grow bag u know the one where their arms arent inside they stick out? shes happy as long as her arms are free lol.. she tends to kick of her blankets some time but i think its just restlesness most of the time..
hello anyone i missed.. i am getting nervous about ww wednesday not doing so well this week :(
dp starts a new job tmw at the airport... hes doing avo shift/night shift so he will start at 5 and finish at 1... its gonna be hard because he will be gone at aresenic hour... shes been better lately at this time, just wingy rather than screamy but still i am not sure how i will get used to managing on my own now ive had him here so long... he always stays up so i can get some sleep but he will be at work eeekk i can see me getting lazy and just bringing her in bed with me and the whole cot thing will go out the window :(
-
Good luck to Noni's DP for his new job tmrw! Noni it might take a couple of days to get used to not having him there but you're doing all the right things and I'm sure you'll do really well. xx
-
Noni, you will be fine with just the two of you. I know I find it a bit easier to deal with arsenic hour if I'm on my own with bubs as I don't have to do anything for anyone else kwim? Don't worry about the cot thing - if you need to take her to bed with you so you get some sleep then do it - you will be a better Mummy for it in the morning if you aren't overtired.
Marydean, I used to fancy myself as a bit of a punter when I was at school and studied the form guide religiously. I used to do quite well too, but then once I moved out of home and had to start paying bills it was a different story LOL. The local publican used to let me put on my Stepdads weekend bets and I would put mine on too and he was none the wiser - even used to let me have a shandy. Mind you that was before all the new liquor laws came in.
And don't worry about the name either - I'm used to it LOL.
-
Noni Good Luck to your DP. I am sure you will be fine, like MD says it may take a few days to get used to. Would it be so bad having Asha in bed with you? Logan comes into bed with me almost every morning after DH goes to work so we can get some more sleep.
-
*put hand up* me too. L comes into bed in the morn for a 7am feed and nap. I always thought i would never have a baby in my bed, how things change when you actually have one! I am a grumpy mummy without a good sleep!
Thanks for the warm welcome. :)
Ozstar- i was at mum's and reading a mag,(On the loo mind you! TMI? :cryinglaugh:) Womans Weekly i am pretty sure, and there was an article on an architect in Perth who had a little girl called Luella. I loved it. Sorry nothing too exciting.
Sherie- do you live in the country? I lurve the tractor in the background of your AV, although i like the red varity better! ;)
L had a bath tonight, was drying her and she got a bit squarky, so i picked her up and she peed all down my front! That'll teach me.
-
Ange, I bet you thought only a boy would do that LOL. I sure do live in the country. We have a farm, hence the tractor, but its green all the way here LOL.
After DH left for work this morning I fed Alister because he woke up early from all the banging around Dh did and then kept him in bed with me because it is soooo cold here today. I though yesterday was chilly, but the brass monkey weather is back again ;) I will have to get all of Lindsay's baby clothes out to find something warm for Alister for the next few days as all his 000 stuff is too small and I only have two 00 suits. It is supposed to be stinking hot by now.
-
hi all - sorry selfish post coming - I havent even read all the other posts yet - so sorry hope everyone is well..
I am hoping for some advice please..
Noah has not pooed for 3 days - I know ppl say a bfed baby can go 3 wks without pooing but this is v unusual for him and he now seems to be a bit uncomfortable... any ideas how I can help him or what I should do?Jazmum I know Hannah had this too - how long did it take and didyou do anything to help?

Hi pregpan
If he is uncomfortable then ring a midwife/Dr for their opinion but they will probably tell you that it is normal. W used to go every nappy change and now only goes a couple of times a week. He may have gas pains, try laying him with his nappy off and moving his legs in a bike-riding motion taking his thighs up to push on his belly a bit. We do this sometimes and it seems to get the farts out.
If W hasn't gone for a few days he can get a bit grumpy just before it happens, I think he gets a bit of tummy pain.
Hope he is o.k
-
Morning All,
Ange- Hi and Welcome What a lovley name your daughter has.
Pregpan- I would try what Art said but if you are not sure just ring your Peadatrician.
Well what a morning I have a headache and very tired. Olivia was unsettled last night and so was the boys. Must have been a full moon or something I also have DH home sick what a drama queen. If its not one thing its another. I so dont feel like being at work today...
I hope everyone else has a great day.
Oh Sherie how is your new car going.
-
ugghh seems mornings are grumpy now too :(weve had another grumpy spewy morning here... and then when i finaly got her to sleep dps mobile rand right next to her head and woke her up (it was dps mum telling hom there is mail for him very important stuff grrr) and now shes still up and i have hardly slept :( the less sleep she gets the more spewy she gets too so not a good day ahead of us i dnt think..
with having Asha in bed with me its not that i have a problem with that in itself, she is usually with me fr some of the time i just worry about her getting used to it being all the time because i do get quite sore frozen in the one spot all night lol...
better go Ash is crying hopefully i'll be back on to finish later
-
Noni, it's rare that I will sleep a whole night with him in bed with me, once he is in a deep sleep I put him back in his bed. I don't think she will get so used to it she wont sleep in her bed, not at this age. I hope you can get a bit of a rest later.
Hi Leanne! I hope tonight is better for you hun. It's always the way when you have something on the following day that you will have a rough night. The new car is going wonderfully - I love it LOL. it really is a great vehicle.
Pregpan, even though you know it is *normal* it still worries you LOL. I read the thread you started about it and there are some good tips - but if you start to think that something isn't quite right then take him to your Dr/Paed.
I have had a productive morning - I got all the beds made, two loads of washing done (which will probably end up on Renee's front doorstep the way this wind is blowing today LOL) and made a dried fruit and walnut slice. I am supposed to be shampooing the carpets in the commodore but it's too windy and there are a heap of trucks on the road today making it dusty.
-
DH just called to tell me that our friends who are 8 weeks pregnant lost a baby. The wife was bleeding yesterday so they got a scan and it showed she has two uterus's and had been pregnant in both but one of the babies wasn't developing properly and miscarried. The other baby is fine and growing normally. She didn't know that she had two wombs or that it was twins.
-
OMG Arte! that is a lot of information for your friends to digest all at once. It's terrible that they lost one of the babies though.
-
Art- Iam so sorry for your friends loss but on the other hand happy that the other baby is fine. I hope that she and her DH is ok.
Sherie- Your slice sounds yummy. At least your washing should dry quick with all the wind. My DH has put my car on the market so he can upgrade we even had someone from perth ring up last night about it. I really love my car and sure if I want to sell it, althought I havent test drove the new one yet and I hope it is a nice as mine then I will be ok.
-
Pregpan - My community Health Nurse told us to give Rory a little cool boiled water to help. Someone else told us to slightly push his legs up to his belly and move them around like he is riding a bike. I hope this helps.
Lol Sherie - Ill iron it for you and sent it back if it comes this way :) I had a productive day yesterday too. I washed a couple of loads of washing, vaccumed, mopped and changed the front room around. I even had time to go for a walk down the beach.
Leanne - Bloody men! DH carries on like a drama queen whenever he gets sick too! And if I dont fudd over him he mopes around feeling sorry for himself haha
Welcome AngeA :) I loveeeeeeee the name you have picked!
Art - I hope yuor friend is doing okay. That is awful news :( *hugs*
Rory slept from 9:00pm to 7:30am Sunday night. I couldnt believe it! I honestly dont know what I did to deserve such a beautiful beautiful little boy. He is an absolute angel. I was just looking at him last night crying because I was so happy and he was looking back at me with a huge smile on his face. He is just amazing.
-
Renee- My DH and I often wonder what we did to deserve 3 beautiful babies. I still cry sometimes just looking a them and often think back when a dr told us that we could not have any babies at all and now we have 3. I always feel truley blessed.
-
hi all - sorry i feel v selfish that i am not reading and doing personals yet - i will come back later...
anyway in case you are interested - he FINALLY did a poo!!!! I gave him a good deep massage of his belly and i dont know if that did it or it really was just time but there it is all done... i feel a lot better for it (3 days to me is a looong time so even though i knew it ws normal and ok we could not help but worry) anyway thanks for the tips! xxx
-
its pretty busy here but i just popped on while i am having my lunch to see how we are all goin.. phew lol its nice to sit down.. dps on avo shift like i said so hes getting ready for work so i cooked him "dinner" which he ate now and he will just have a sandwich at work so i cooked that then cleaned up, washed bottles and measured out formula to make it easier when hes not here incase shes screaming the house down, made dp a sandwich to take with him, washed and dried his clothes for work and then last of all of course made myself something and sat down lol i am sure ash will wake up soon and i wont get to eat it all anyway she always seems to know when i am eating lol...
renee - very jelous of your sleepy boy there.. glad things are going well for you now you deffinately deserve it after the first few weeks were a bit rough... oh and i am sending my washing to your place if its coming back ironed haha
leanne - hope dh gets better soon and dosnt cause you too much trouble lol
arte - i hope your friend is doing ok thats awful id never heard of two uterus's before
thanks sherie - lol i am just a worrier and after working in childcare you see so many kids with bad habbits and say oh i'll never do that lol and sometimes i think to myself now is this something i said i wouldnt do?? trying to just relax and go with the flow lol
pregpan - glad u got the poo you were waiting for :)
-
Go Noah, well done!
On a similar topic, I came across the most amazing Youtube clip last night, you can search for it under "Baby gas expelling trick" - freak out! Have a look ladies and tell me what you think!
Arte - so sorry for your friend's loss - it must be hard balancing her relief that one baby is still thriving with grief for the other. Far out about finding about a second womb at the same time!
I think we're going to have to go back to drs this week, E has stopped taking the Gaviscon and we're getting lots of crying, a baby that is exhausted from crying, and not many smiles anymore. I bought some mylanta which I've given her once, but would rather discuss it with the dr before embarking on this path!
Go all the productivity ladies !! I'm very impressed. It's a pub hol here, so hanging around doing not much like it's Sunday, waiting for the race to see if Purple Moon wins (;) Gracie, I've got $2 each way on it)!
-
Well I put $2 each way on what I thought was Princess coup but was actually eskimo queen, it would be safe to say that I am not a supa punta.lol. And you guessed it... it didnt win anyway. Oh well...
Congrats Noah...
I too am very impressed at all the productivity going on....
-
md looks a bit rough to me lol not sure... did u watch "colic anyone?" with the 5 yr old trying to stop the baby crying?
-
That's what I thought Noni, but gee that baby sure doesn't seem to mind! Yep, saw colic anyone first, for some reason DH thought it was funny...???
Leanne, that's the main reason I never bet on the horses, however Purple Moon came in second so I'll win like 70c or something! LOL
-
mmm thats men for you lol
i watches sumthing called "swearing baby" n it scared the crap out of me had to stop it lol i am such a wuss
-
Not sure I want to see the swearing baby! There is such a thing as too much Youtube! LOL Did stumble across some clips of babies in these little seats called "bumbos" (never heard of them before) which were pretty cute, like one called Baby Wigs Out! LOL
-
well md it is not what u expect but i wont wreck it incase u decide to watch lol ivenever been on youtube until u just suggested we look at that thing..
-
MD I had a look at the Gas thing on you tube, it looked a little rough lol and she didnt actually get the gas out (unless I am watching the wrong clip lol). I wanted to buy a bumbo (a friend reccomended them) but DH said they got recalled the other week as they dont havea warning on them telling parents not to leave child unattended on a high surface in the bumbo. How stupid is that, what is the world coming to when you have to be warned not to leave your child sitting in a seat on top of a bench.
Arte gosh your poor friends, thats such an info overload. Its great that she still has one baby but so sad that she lost one.
Pregpan I am glad Noah has doen a poo. Logan has just stopped going daily and we get some pretty big poo's now when he does do them.
Noni you will be fine tonight. It will be a girls night in at your place, i say break out some chocolate and enjoy some time with Asha or if she is asleep give yourself a bit of pampering.
Renee I feel lucky too and could just watch Logan all day long amazed by how beautiful and special he is.
ETA Oh nuts I was so busy posting I forgot to watch the race.
-
welcome ange!
pregpan, had the same worries a couple of weeks ago & midwife tried to reassure me by saying that a poo in 10 days is normal for breastfed babies...gp said same thing (this was for the 10-day appt). and read in a book that 3 days is ok for formula so i figured that if it gets to 7 days, then i'd worry since i do both. anyway, i think she finally went after 6 days so that was definitely a relief for me.
sherie, where do you get the time and energy!!! must come with practice. have to say, am feeling pretty proud of myself for getting a load in the wash today. first load i've done in 4 weeks. my excuse is that i'm not supposed to anyway (c/s). did today's w/c was light and because of bad weather, am not hanging it outside so don't need to reach up.
congratulations to all those with their precious ones sleeping through the night. i'm envious. but, have to say, max isn't too bad. slept from about 9 and didn't wake for feed until 2am....last feed was at 7pm so expected her to be up at 11 or midnight but she slept through to 2am. hope she sleeps through the night soon.
-
oops! a little late on my post....been composing it a while.....in between feeds & stuff....good on 'ya noah!
