Renee does Rory like the bumbo? I want one. Do you think I could use one at Christmas time? Thought it might come in handy.
Good idea for a Christmas prezzie, our babies will be just the right age for trying to sit them up propped like that!
I agree, Renee, I've decided to stop reading the comments too, some ppl must have pretty sad lives if they've got nothing better to do than vandalise a site light that.
Katie, the clip I was looking at you could hear the gas farting out LOL! Seemed to work...don't know that I'd try it though!
Fianne, that's a pretty good sleeping stretch from Max. I read somewhere that they start producing melatonin around the 14 week mark and so the day/night pattern becomes more pronounced aroudn then...fingers crossed hey!
Arte - How horrible for your friends! :(
AngeA - Welcome!! I was a bit of a late comer to this group, but everyone is so welcoming and full of advice.
Renee - Congrats on Rory's good sleeping habits, gosh he's such a cutie. I often look at Maddie and think how lucky we are to have a healthy baby as well.
Leemar - I cant imagine what it must be like to to be told you cannot have children. I'm so glad it all worked out for you.
Pregpan - Yay for the poo!! :D
Noni - I'm sure you girls will be fine tonight. Good luck!
Fianne - Wish I could use the CS excuse with the washing...but if I didnt do the washing DP would have no clean work clothes. He is hopeless when it comes to house work. And I didnt have a c section hehe!
Did anyone win any money on the horses today? I went to a Melb cup lunch with Maddie, it was nice but I ate too much.
On the subject of grobags - I was speaking to another new mum today at the lunch, who told me that you can buy cheap grobags from a website called bloom and grow direct. I googled it and quickly checked it out, but didnt have time to compare prices. Have a look if you are interested. :)
Whats a bumbo anyway?
Hayley, google or go to Youtube and search it. It's a squidgey soft seat for babies.
ETA I want one now!!!
md - theres quite a few on ebay
Yep, been there Noni, watching some. We've got at least a few weeks until E gets the head control thing sorted out - ie time to snaffle a bargain on eBay! H was able to hold head steady at this age and could even lift her torso clear of the ground completely during tummy time...E not anywhere near that yet!
Sherie- DH is a farmer. We are 'inbetween jobs' at the mo, but generally live in country Vic somewhere. (His family farm is in TAS) Actually going to SA for a job interview this week. Big drive for little L, should be interesting!
HAyley i had a big win today, $3.60. :cryinglaugh:
On the poo subject, can they poo too much? L craps in just about EVERY nappy, and i change her every 3hrs-ish. Mad pooer!
NonieE- wow you did as much this morn as i have done all week. WTG!
Leemar- Men are hopless when they are sick arn't they? My DH is a shocker :wall:
Renee- i am jelous of your whole nights sleep! Nice one. They are amazing hey, i find it all a bit overwhelming sometimes. It's a pretty awsome feeling. I am so in love with little L! i am still waiting for real smiles.......
Marydean- a friend showed me that gas 'maneouver' but she wan't as rough as on that clip! We havn't needed to try it, but my friend swears by it.
Melb girls- do you ever meet up?
Oooo those seat things look quite cool.....
Squarker has woken up! catch you all later. ;)
ment to ask too whats the go with smiling?? ash has had 2 or 3 but thats it shes 6wks tmw is she behind?
md - Ash can hold her head steady but for limited amounts of time, shes lifting herself up at tummy time too but she gets frustrated coz she tries to push herself around but cant get anywhere lol its cute...
ange - its the most i have done since bubs was born lol
L is 6 weeks on Fri and no real smiles. I think around the 6 week mark is 'average' smile time. Eith that or Ash and L are slackers!
lol ange they better not be slackers i am busting for her to smile at me each day lol
speaking of slackers - here I am!!!
On the smile thing - Noah has been able to do it for a few weeks and we got theodd smile here and there but now he smiles all the time - big gorgeous smiles...they start small with just the lips and then it is the whole mouth and eyes too - gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!! He is 8 weeks so not long to wait for them i dont think!! Oh it is so special and heart warming every time! he has also started making cute noises - coos, gurgles etc.
Thanks all for the good poo vibes ha ha!!!
Re sleeping through - we had 3 nights (on the long weekend) when Noah slept from 9 or 10 to 5 or 6 - bliss!! usually on those days he also went back to sleep for an hour or so after i fed him at 5 or 6. last night he woke once, at 2ish and then at 7 for feeding whch is also pretty amazing and so i am feeling quite good from all the sleep i have had the last few nights. One theory - which i hope isnt true - the nights he did the no feeds in the night coincided with the lack of pooing - what do you think, are they linked? I hope not, I hope he is just learning to sleep longer. he has def learned t settle himself more - it is great... i out him down nearly asleep and he goes to sleep and i hear him wake sometimes and go back to sleep. sooooo cute!
will have to check out those seats could be good soon - N seems to have good(ish) head control - not long til he can hold it up i reckon!
how are you all going with cooking? i have ben ok, but making v simple things most nights. yesterday i did a big cook whileDH was home playing w Noah - made canelloni, meatballs, a quiche and some tuna pasta bake for the freezer. so i feel much more organised! i enjoy cooking so it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
I wonder how Queenie is doing???
And did we ever hear from Mbear - I miss her!
I miss Mbear too!!! :(
Pregpan, WTG on the cooking! I'm still cruising along with DH cooking some nights, freezer food some nights, and the occasional meal that I make - I'm pretty rigorous about cooking enough for two nights so that the second night is just reheat & eat...slack but my family's not complaining because ironically I'm a better family-meal cook than DH (who is a chef).
Re the smiles, E - who was 8 weeks yesterday - smiles sometimes but they are few and far between - gradually becoming more frequent tho, so just give your girls another week or two, you won't believe the difference it makes! :D
I have this home video of H at 6 weeks and it's about 45 minutes of her sitting in a chair, occasionally flapping her arms or kicking her legs and not much else ROFL! We thought it was soooo amazing at the time, too! LOL I reckon they don't get really interactive until after the 3 months mark, before then they just need to be held, and cuddled and loved. Then the fun begins!
Getting my haircut today, the hairdresser is super clucky so E will get fussed and ooohed and aaahed over no end! :)
well my first night alone and i survived lol ash fed at 7:30 went to sleep at 10 lol but didnt wake up again to be fed till 4 and dp did it coz he was hme by then :) then up at 8:30 hopefully a sign of things to come coz usually she wld have fed round 11:30 as well...
ww wednesday lol i am dreading the weigh in today dnt think i have done well.. though i always feel like that suppose its so i am not too dissapointed if its bad when i step on the scales lol..
better go gotta get ready and theres a smelly nappy waiting for me lol
lol pregpan - how cld u call urself a slacker after all that cooking??? yesterday was the first day i cooked a real meal since the birth lol
Good luck at WW today ladies! I'm in weight loss denial and somehow all the monte carlos in the packet of Arnott's assorted creams have gone missing....
Noni, well done on your first night alone...that'll be me next week when DH goes away!
BTW Jazmum - and the other Yoda HAB wearers LOL - I've been meaning to ask you how you organise your HAB when you're out and about. Do you put it on before you go out the door then just lift H in and out of it when you need to, or do you tie it on when you're about to use it...I'm thinking of errands like the school drop off and popping into the shops where the sling is on and off repeatedly for short periods of time???
If i have to put her in and out a few times I just leave it on MD. Its the latest fashion accessory! LOL Otherwise i have a material, over the shoulder sling i use, quicker but not nearly as comfortable as HAB.
Have to pack today for a flying trip to SA, OMG you need So much more crap when you have a baby?! Might need to use the trailer just to carry it all.
morning all
good luck at ww today everyone- i think i might start weighing myself every wednesday and post it on here just so i'm not missing out lol
md- i put the yoda hab on before i leave home and drive to my destination with it on. i spose people must think i'm a strange star wars creature but i don't care- it's definitely easier that way.
this morning we dtd for the first time since the birth. i was so scared but it was fine. i need reassurance now that you can't get pg while bfing (please!!!) as stupidly we used no contraception. i thought i had af back on monday but it only lasted one day so now i don't think it was af....well, i spose having another little lewis wouldn't be too bad!! lol
hope you're all having a nice day. might take the dog and lewis out for a walk as it's a nice day here
Happy Birthday Gracie! We also dtd last week without contraception. I had terrible visions of having morning sickness and a 3 month old so I don't think I will be so careless again.
MD, we have heaps of video of Will just laying on the bed 'talking'. I am sure it will bore people in years to come but I wanted to catch all the cute noises.
Smile-wise I think there is a lot of variation between babies. My friend said that her bub didn't smile until 3 months. W was doing the little smiles at 4 weeks, big grins at 5 weeks and started 'talking' at 6 weeks.
thanks artechim!!
i've been having those visions too!!i'm not ready to go through the birth experience again yet! will have to get onto the mini pill asap i think.
GRACIE!!!!!!!!!!:happybirthday: Happy Birthday darl - hope you have a gorgeous day!!!!
And ;) well done on the birthday b*nk!
Morning Ladies,
Gracie- Happy Birthday and hope you have a wonderful day.
Smiling- Olivia has been smiling for a few weeks now. She loves it when you talk to her.
WW- well I lost 1kg this week so I am very happy with myself. So total loss so far is 2.6kg. Yippeee
MD- I hope you enjoy your trip to the hairdresser which reminds me I too better book myself in as I have not been back since Olivia was born.
I hope everyone has a great day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACIE :happybirthday:
Logan has been smiling for a while now, big gummy grins, so adorable. He is starting to laugh too just little squeaks.
Leanne well doen on the weight loss, thats fantastic. I am really going to have ot get of my butt now and do something, you have inspired me.
MD I am watching afew bumbo's on ebay too, you had better not outbid me lol.
Just had Logan weighed he has out on 100g which is no where near what he usualy does. Told the CHN about the cracked nipples etc and that I only got 5 min out of each side this morning, she said the shields and formula are drying up my supply. She said it can happen really quickly for some people. I had no idea the shields would affect supply, it makes sense though. Going to try exprerssing between feeds and after each feed. Still a little sore though so I will see how I go. Tried to get into the breast feeding clinic but they are pretty busy, seems I am not the only one having problems. Also need to make an appointment with the Dr regarding the bleeding, I am pretty sure it is AF but I may need to go back on the pill if it is going to come every two weeks (have had loads of trouble in the past).
Well I had better go and do soem cleaning while Logan is snoozing. Have a great day.
hayley, dp knows that he either does it or it doesn't get done. he has to live w/ the consequences like no shirt for work. in fact....not ironing either & there's a week's lot to do since MIL left. she was a godsend. :)
happy birthday gracie!
smiles.....max has gorgeous ones...but unfortunately....gas related.
good luck to all on ww....have to admit, i think i'm already at my pre-preg weight....BUT that's not as good as it sounds coz there's still this thick layer around what used to be waist that wasn't there
before!!! yikes! how long b4 this goes away?!? oh...not exercising tho bec of c/s....would likely take longer
leanne great going w/ the weight loss.
katie, sorry to hear you're still having bfeeding problems. lc i saw said nipple shields reduce production to 80%...or something like that. haven't used them since i saw lc. sore bbs tho not cracked or bleeding.
not sure if i have a win on the bf'ing front. trying to get out of the habit of topping up w/ formula. got through 24 hours w/ just the breast milk and 1 100ml dose of formula last night. now, i worry about whether or not she's getting enough!!! just been popping her on everytime she's unsettled. :) am going to try going formula-less again today. fingers crossed.
Fianne Good luck reducing the formula. You will be exclusively BF before you know it. I am not giving up yet and will persevere for a little longer. I have decided though that if it keeps hurting then I am just going to put him on formula, I figure it is more important that we are both happy. It has taken me ages to come to that conclussion and be happy with it though, I just dont want to quit.
hi all well i only lost .1 lol a lousy 100 grams pretty dissapointed over here
leanne - congrats on your weight loss
waiting for ella to pop on and tell us how she went..
lol i am watching bumbos too on ebay theres going to be a bumbo war in here lol anyways better go am cooking " lunch/dinner" for dp...
:happybirthday: Gracie, my bday is on sunday :) and pretty sure you can get pregnant while breastfeeding lol better get out and get that mini pill..
Noni- Thats still a loss so dont be disapointed. Remember me last week. And Happy Birthday for Sunday I hope you had a great day.
Re the bumbos, I should've kept quiet about the Youtube clip until I won one on eBay LOL - I'll be bidding for any that are lilac or pink or other girlie colours...prolly not this week tho.
Fianne, that's the secret to bfeeding success! :):
just been popping her on everytime she's unsettled.
Katie, sorry to hear you're still having BFing probs...BTW meant to ask, are you drinking any coffee or tea - the caffeine can suppress your supply as well - so if you are, it might be a good idea to go decaf for a while. Good luck with the expressing - i hope it helps with the soreness too. I agree the most important thing is that you are both happy but preferably when the time is right for you, so you're not disappointed KWIM?
Noni, a loss is better than no loss or a gain - so keep it up and you'll get there eventually.
Fianne - in a CS they pull your tummy muscles apart to get to the uterus so yes your tum might be a different shape for a while, good idea to go to physio exercise classes through your hospital if you can. I'm looking at starting mine next week (wound has to heal up first before you can start tho).
ETA - meant to say the hairdresser today gave me a raving recommendation for an osteopath, said to work wonders for reflux and unsettledness, going to give it a shot.
Watch out you sure can get preggers while BFing!! You can even get preggers BFing and on the minipill as well which just freaky-deaks me right out, the sooner DH goes to the vet the better IMO!
MD- Iagree with you about DH going to the Vet quick smart. I was just looking for the phone number. lol...
thank you so much for all your birthday wishes!!and noni- happy bday for sunday. so you're a scorpio too huh??
just got $100 cash in the mail from mil! nice
MD - I know you don't want to hear it, but have you tried cutting out sugar? Apparently it upsets quite a few babies. Will was so unsettled and grumpy with reflux but the past week since I stopped treating myself to lots of yum things he has been so much happier. I had a sugar free day last tuesday, he slept a bit better that night and by wednesday was feeling much better so it would only take a couple of days to find out if that is a cause. I am sure you have already ruled out diet causes, just a thought since it solved our problems (well, solved his - I am left with nothing yummy to eat).
Arte - I hear you, and in theory if it's sugar-related then that should be taken care of by a low-GI diet (which is my goal anyway - getting closer every day). It is definitely reflux tho (and not just gassy unsettledness) as we get all the liquid gurgling sound effects. The osteo is still a good idea as she has had a clicky noise in her shoulder since birth (three paeds examined her in hospy - all said nothing wrong). However, I'm pretty sure we'll get success in the end as a result of a combination of several factors, kwim?
MD both you and Sherie are so wise and encouraging (all you ladies are). I love that I have a place to come to where evryone is so supportive. You girls rock!
Gracie – LOL at yoda hab … now I know why people are staring at me when I wear it :) Happy birthday, wish u all the best. This must be a good week, purple moon came second … not that I put any money in :)
Noni, happy bday to you too! My friend has a bumbo seat and his son looks so cute in it. Way to go with surviving your first night!
Sherie, sorry but I pronounced our name the other way around too. Our bathroom is a bit old, but it’s clean. So yeah, it might need some redecoration or something, but it’s not that urgent iykwim … it can wait until William’s bigger.
They didn’t finish it properly on Monday so we only have a minimum toilet and no bath/shower at all. Plus they’re not working yest and today because of Melb cup. We ended up going to the pool yesterday, at least we can take a decent bath there.
Just found out that W loves the sound of water. So this is second on his list now, the first one is the sound of my hairdryer … he absolutely in love with it LOL
Btw, he is also in 00 nows, cant believe that we bought 0000 before … it wouldn’t even fit him when he was just born LOL
Ange, have never been to Agnes Water, do you recommend it for holiday? I think 'Luella' is really unique Good luck on the trip and packing!
Marydean, I also love Ben, he is really talented and yeah kinda cute :) Too bad he got voted out. Now I’d probably go for Matt or Natalie. Glad that your wound is better, with summer approaching it wont be good to be sick at all
With hab, I put it before driving or going out. .Just remember to readjust/tighten it a little bit cause it can get pretty loose sometimes
Katie, in the last 2 weeks W comes to bed with me and DH. He sleeps better apparently and so is DH. Hope this wont turn to a habit though. Sorry to hear about the BF problem, just wondering though … the short feeds, would that be related to shields or AF? Read something on the thread that AF can also affects BF. Hope you heal soon
Arte, sorry to hear about your friends lost, on the other hand there’s always light at the end of the tunnel so hopefully things will be okay with the other baby
Leanne. I am so touched by your story, you’ve been through a lot! It’s amazing I also feel blessed with my bundle of joy and you have three :)
Pregpan, good to hear everything’s sorted out with the poo thing. I agree with you, they can definitely smile with their eyes!
W has been smiling quite a lot and.he also into cooing and conversation atm. Funny how sometimes he smiles when he sees the boobs LOL
Ladies, I’m sure the smile’s just a matter of days and definitely worth the wait!
Fianne, good luck with the BF/FF. Sounds like you’re doing a great job last 24hr
Well done ladies on the weight loss! I have been meaning to get some exercise but hasn’t done it yet … oh well might need to push myself a bit more
ETA Marydean, good luck with the osteopath. Let us know how it go
lol Asha likes hi 5 isnt that the cutest??? it came on and shed been unsettled and i noticed she was trying to look so i put her bouncer infront of it and shes been so wide eyed lol must be all the colours and singing,, lol hope i am not turning her into a couch potato already haha...
agnes - how big was he when he was born?? Asha was 7lb 2 or 3.2kgs.. last time we got her weighed she was up to 4kg and she is still comfortably in alot of 0000 clothes, wondersuits shes 000 but theres only one other 0000 thing that dosn't fit her lol i can see it getting tighter but it still fits.. do i have a tiny baby here??
arte - sorry you have to cut out sugar again :(
md - thanks for the encouragement... looking at ebay i dnt knw if its much cheaper than buying a new one (they are 40us new on the bumbo site)
leanne - thanks i know its still a loss but the lady wasnt very nice to me lol she was like well you lost .1 i suppose you'll get there eventually... could be good for motivation though makes me wanna lose 5kgs in a week lol not to good for the self esteem though...
katie - i agree!! dnt knw where i would be without bb!!!
Noni, he was 3.5kg not that big but just wont fit in the 0000 wondersuit no matter what we tried. Last time we weigh him he was more than 5kg and that’s like 2-3 weeks ago
LOL on hi5, I also love their music :)
Just got an email to say Babies Galore have 10-30% off store wide, I had alook and the bumbo's are reduced to $72.
Aaaw, thanks Katie, You rock too!!!
OMG Hi 5 - I hated them last time and no doubt will hate them again this time LOL!
Noni, I'm confused, was it your birthday already (and I missed it) or is it coming up this sunday??
Agnes, I'd like to see Natalie and Matt having a sing-off at the opera house, just haven't ever liked the navy boy - I think all the middle aged defence housewives who are missing their men are voting for him!!
md - coming up (rememberence day)
katie - wish i had some money lol always the way the sales come and i am broke
agnes - wondersuits are one size smaller then other clothes ash is in 000 wondersuit 0000 clothes
