Hello ladies, had our six week check up today. Emily was all good, she has a little dermatitis around her neck in between the rolls but otherwise all good. I am still having some bleeding so dr thinks I may have some retained placenta!!! He is going to leave it a month and order an ultrasound to check.... I seriously hope that is not the case.
Emily was up from 11:30 to 2am this morning I am hoping it's a one off. She had her immunization today and was quite upset tonight so not sure what tonight will have in store for us, hopefully she is able to sleep it off.

Hi Crowe! How was Emily's night last night? You poor thing having a bad night the other night, you must have been tired yesterday! Needles suck hey the poor darlings but it's for the best hey?! I remember Ava always being really miserable for a few days after having her needles Good to hear Emily went well at her check up otherwise. My friend still had placenta inside her and it did eventually end up coming out but she did have alot of cramping from it. The silly doctors forgot to clean her uterus out after her c-section, she was not happy. We are going well still having crappy nights but other than that my princess is just adorable and I have loved spending lots of time with her these past couple of days while Ava has been at kindy. Too busy with Ava half the time that I don't actually get time to lay beside Ellie and actually talk to her and enjoy her. Ellie smiled for the first time a couple of days ago which was caught on video so I'm so lucky to have that. I know it sounds early but Ava smiled at only 4 weeks old aswell. I just melted Hope your all well girls
Hey Becky, yeah we had a much better night last night. Emily was a bit miserable after her needles too. It is sooo nice to have the older child at care and be able to spend some one on one rime with these precious new bubs isn't it? Sarah goes to care three days and I love it. Big yay on the smiles it is just gorgeous. O hope Ellie starts to string a dew hours sleep together for you a night time soon. Are you having a rest where you can? Especially on days when Ava is in care? Take care everyone!
Hey Crowe! Trying to rest when I can especially when Ava is at kindy, although it's hard when Ellie is asleep that's the only time I get to myself and I want to have a bit of me time but I know I need to rest. Just a question, how do you get Emily to sleep? Rock her, pat or feed or does she self settle in cot? Ellie uses me as a dummy and I have been doing a little of the controlled crying for a week. Put her in the cot walk away until she starts to cry then I go in a few mintues later and pat her and say Shhhh then walk out for a bit longer and so on until she is asleep. I feel awful and cry sometimes but I can't have her using me as a dummy to get to sleep all the time it's exhausting, especially of a night time. She is getting better but just wondering if there is a secret for them sleeping longer of a night time. I breasfeed her before bed and top her up with a little formula but this doesn't help much either
The reason why I'm worried is Ava did the same and she never slept through the night until she was 3 and she always need me to help her fall asleep somehow! Think I just need to relax a bit more and not worry so much.
Hi Becky, I understand your concern. With Emily she does have a dummy so that helps. She generally doesn't go down until an hour after a feed during the day. Sometimes she has a dummy and other times she doesn't. I demand feed during the day, every 2.5 to 3 hours so she gets 6 feeds in during the day and one at night.
I have her in a snuggle bed in her cot. The snuggle bed is elevated at the head end which helps with wind and there are two rolled up cloth nappies on either side of her head. She loves to snuggle into the nappies with her face even though I know this doesn't fit in with SIDS info she sleeps and I know she can breath still because I can hear her. She often has something on her face and will instantly rest when she does.
Maybe you could try the dummy and say to Ava that only babies have dummies and she had one when she was little but she's a big girl now so doesn't need it??? Just a thought as it might give you a break. Emily sometimes feeds to sleep also. There really is no magic to it, I think we are just lucky but I can say I am much more relaxed this time.
You just need to know you are doing the best you can and these little people do take their time to settle. They say that babies are unsettled for a minimum if two hours a day and one day a week and I have found this to be pretty spot on.
I also see a naturopath and take some stuff called CPMP (calcium,phosphate, magnesium etc) that apparently calms and enables you to relax and sleep instead of being fidgety and I think that passes through to Emily too.
I really hope Ellie starts to settle a little easier for you soon.
Thanks Crowe for spending the time to reply and give all the information you can to me your wonderful Yeah seriously thinking of getting a dummy and fingers crossed it doesn't start Ava off again and make her upset as it took 7 weeks to get over it, we had really bad nights every night for those 7 weeks and it was terrible. Won't know until we try i guess. If it causes to much pain for her we will just get rid of it. How cute that Emily loves to snuggle into the towels, I find that Ava sleeps better on her tummy and helps with her wind also which also doesn't fit in with the SIDS info but she is very strong with holding her head up and moving it around and has been from day 2 of being born. Oh I might have to try some of these CPMP tablets. Where do you get them from?
Hey Becky, the CPMP tablets come from my naturopath. I think you can only get them if you see a naturopath and can't by them over the counter but they are made by blackmores if you want to try.
Crowe- Thanks i will go to the chemist or health food shop and see if I can find them. Sounds like something that I need, but i will talk to someone there before buying and I will let you know how I go on them
Leckert- Hey how are you? Been wondering where you had gone Great to hear Wade went well at his 6 week check up. Wow just over 2kg that's great! Yeah Ellie only feeds for 10-15 mins aswell and most of the time only from one breast as she always seems to fall asleep. Must try to get her to go both sides and maybe she may sleep longer. How are you feeling?
Hi Leckert, glad to hear your six week checkup went well. Wade must be settling well then if you don't need the dummy? My DD1 was like that but not DD2 she is a little sucker.
Becky - good luck finding the tablets, hopefully they are suitable for you too. I'm not sure if it's all in my head or not but I don't care as long as I feel it helps somewhat.
AFM - Emily woke 3-4 hourly overnight as she was snotty, I got the fess sucker thing onto her this morning so hopefully she will be better tonight. Otherwise all good here. Beautiful sunny day heading for 20+ degrees yay!
Wade generally settles easily; not interested in sucking except when hungry - refuses to suck unless hungry even though he looked like he'd been a thumbsucker tummy side. We've had issues with gas - he rarely burps so had trouble getting it out the other end which is fun in the middle of the night (bicycled legs and then feed for sleep).
Ds1 also fed for about 20min on one side only from about 2-3 months if that's a help.
Generally going well otherwise here except ds1 is loud and very in Wade's face and I wish I could sleep a bit more in the morning when Wade's quiet but usually I've already dropped of ds1 to childcare and am wide awake.
Crowe - Poor Emily hope tonight is better for you both, hate it when they have a stuffy nose. Tried finding those tablets at the chemist today with no luck so have to try another or go to a health food shop. What colour is the label on it? Weather was a bit on the cooler side here today so lots of snuggles with my girls inside.
Leckert - Your lucky to have a pretty good settler My little one takes forever to burp after a feed so half the time I give up and then we all suffer later on when she is screaming the poor darling! Well hope your nights better tonight aswell. Lol yep sleep ins just don't happen here for us at the moment either. Ellie wakes at 7am which is good but i stilll have to get up to my daughter who wakes early between 5:30 and 6am.

We've had the snotty/stuffy nose here too since we came home - just using the little noses stuff (by the fess company) mostly the spray cause I can never get babies to settle enough for me to use the aspirator to suck the gunk out. Doesn't help that I've also had a stuffy sinus thing as well the whole time we've been home.
Burping has been getting better now that I've worked out that sometimes when Wade's fussing during a feed he wants to burp rather than pass wind at the other end - which seems to be a 30/70 split for burp/fart.
We're in Adelaide and its been cold and wet for the second half of this week.
Leckert- had a bad night like you had the other night with Eliie waking at 2:30 screaming with bad wind Had to do the bicycle legs and fold her legs up and luckily she did eventually release some, my god there was alot of wind.
Today is my first day with just me and my girls as my husband has gone back to work after having 4 weeks off after Ellie was born. I have done better so far on my own than what I thought so fingers crossed the rest of the day goes alright aswell. Might give the girls and early bath this afternoon to make it easier for the lovely afternoon rush eg dinner, bath, showers, tired and grumpychildren etc etc gotta love that time of day NOT. Hope you little ones stuffy noises are getting better. Hope your all good

Wade probably would've only woken once but I could hear that he was struggling to breathe cause of his nose so woke him once to spray his nose and the gave a feed to calm him down again. Think I'll be making sure we squirt nose before every feed today.
