We had a bad night too. Only got 3hr blocks of sleep and he fussed from his last feed at 4am til I dragged my butt out of bed at 6:30. Going to need a nap today.
THEN I wake up to find Ds1 covered in a rash :shakehead: so now we have to schlep to the Drs in the rain and I had to get a friend to take Ds2 to school.
Upside is Centrelink has processed the BB and FTB. I get the arrears payment tomorrow. Hurrah.
We had 3am awake time the night before last too, not fun. I can sometimes get Georgia to sleep in her bed by stroking her head, not always, but sometimes, which is better than DS3 so it's a good sign that she may not be the absolute shocker at settling and sleeping like he was :crossfingers:
I'm so glad I don't have school runs to do like some of you guys, I am a zombie! I guess if I had to I'd get my bum into gear and get moving. You ladies doing it are doing a great job! :)
Anyone who is receiving the baby bonus; does it come in the same time as your FTB? Or on a separate day?
Hi Everyone, Just wanted to poke my head back in and say I hope I'll be back posting more regularly now. It's been great with most of you having your babies before me that I've had your posts to reassure me that everything Owen is doing is normal (the pimples, sore nipples, nights with lots of feeds followed by nights with few feeds, short feeds, unsettled periods etc.). Basically he's going really really well. At 12 days old today, he is sleeping beautifully right now, and seems super healthy. I am gradually recovering from the birth, and starting to feel closer to normal, which is a big relief after lots of pain until now.
I do have extremely tender nipples, but I'm still trying new things to help me cope with it, and I really love knowing that they are likely to be fine when Owen is around 3-4 weeks old, judging by what happened with DS1. It is amazing to me to have a normal healthy baby who we can usually settle within a reasonable period of time when he cries, even if BF is his favourite settling tool. Such a contrast to DS1 who had multiple food allergies (not that we knew that at the time) and screamed in pain for hours every day from 3 days old. So every day that Owen isn't like that, I am so grateful :-D.
Beatrix, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandad. I hope you and your family and friends can support and comfort each other through the grief. I'm thinking of you :hug:
I used a hammock with DS1, longer than is technically "safe" (I think he was around 14mths old when I stopped), but it was a lifesaver for us, as his severe reflux meant he could not be put down at all in anything other than the hammock, car seat or pram with back fairly upright. I definitely recommend trying them for babies who can't sleep properly anywhere else, as it can save a mother's sanity.
Happymum- good to see you!! Glad Owen is doing well!! And yes the hammock has been a pretty good for use, only day 3 so far but so far worth it!!
Willow-school run is so much fun LOL so far out of 3 days we have been late once!!
Freya.. iI get my BB payment exactly two weeks from the initial first installement (when you get the $800ish) so two weeks after that is your next payment. FTB remains the same for me.. so worked out to be one week BB one week the FTB, but that was just lucky due to processing times
Hope everyone had a better night last night with their bubs. Owen is 13 days old today, and the last 4 nights has fed at roughly 10pm, 2.30-3am then 6.30am. That's after lots of cluster feeding in the evenings, but I'm super happy with his sleeps overnight. Hope he can keep it up :-)
Happy mum- Zoe's feed were the exact same times and she settle so well after them!! Am able to put her in the hammock not completely asleep and she will whine for couple of seconds then drifts off on her own!! No rocking. Love it
Woke feeling refreshed. Midwife app this morning so interested to see her weight gain.

Well little miss porky!! 440 grams weight gain in 10 days so very happy with that!!
Bit sad as last midwife app is next Tuesday now :( love love their program!! Amazing ladies.
MCHN will be doing their visit soon after that.
I'm very jealous of the great sleepers overnight! We had a shocker again last night. I think it was something like 10.30 then unsettled until around 11.30 awake again at 12.30 fed again, up again at about 2 and wouldn't settle until just after 4 but wouldn't go into her bed so slept with me, so my arm ended up dead and you just don't get proper sleep. She fed at about 7am and went back to sleep until nearly 9am. Very glad I didn't have to get up and going for school or anything.
She's a tricky one too, my others have woken as you tried to put them down, but Georgia sleeps for a few minutes after you put her down, then it's like as soon as I lay down and start to relax she wakes up. I always burp her when she comes off the boob and offer her more but it doesn't always work.
Last night was especially hard as DS3 woke up as well and for some reason he wanted me too so I had him on one side of me in bed wanting to touch and cuddle me with Georgia as well so I felt like I couldn't even move for the most part. Really hoping things improve in the next few weeks, I think I'm too old for this :lol:

Oh missed your post Beatrix, go Zoe!! Great gain again :D I was discharged last week from my midwife it was so sad :( When the MACHN came the other day I was a bit like who are you I want my midwife back :( She was very nice, I was just sad that we'd finished with the BC program.
Willow- sounds like a rough night! Does your DS go to day care any days a week to possibly give you a sleep catch up day? Are you going to look into hiring the hammock?
Our midwife program does visits up to 6 weeks if you need it but while I would like to keep seeing them for another 2 weeks I know that their time and services are needed elsewhere by mums more in need then me, and since Zoe is doing so well and I have no issues or concerns then i think once she has her last dose of the vit K on Tuesday (we opted for oral cause I didnt want to jab her when she was born) that its ok to be discharged from the program.
I gave the midwives their present though today and they loved them! They all have fairly uncommon names so not what you would ever find personilsed items off, so I got them all a pen with their names on it and it also said thanks for all your care and dedication, oh and some choccies too!!
Have booked the app for our 6 week checks and immunisations for 2 1/2 weeks time, figured since its such a long app I should book early.
Hi ladies... Sorry not around much this week as It's our Easter this weekend and busy with preparations etc along with the usual running around!!
At 2 week nurse check up Eleni had gained 270 grams in a week! so impressed with that! :)
willow- oh no... sounds like your having a tough time! Georgia sounds like my DD1...:( so hard when they are like that! great weight gain for you too!! :) NICE!

My midwife comes around 4.30 this arvo, but I expect my hungry boy will have put on quite a bit as well - he looks and feels heavier :-)
Quickly had Wilder weighed today while Ds3 had his 4 year old vaccinations - he has gained 410g in a week! The Dr also noticed a slight tongue tie but thinks his sometimes less than stellar attachment issues are because he is so small still. He now weighs 2970g which is 10g larger than Ds2 weighed at birth and 10g smaller than Ds1 weighed at birth lol he still has 300g to go to catch Ds3's birth weight. When I look at it that way, he certainly is tiny!
We had a huge sleep here overnight; I put him down at 8:30 so I could have a shower, I fell asleep at 9:30 and woke at 4:30 to his breathing alarm going off because the little booger had wiggled it off his nappy and down the side of his onesie :lol: I thought I was hallucinating the time. I also nearly fell out of bed when I realised it was his alarm going off that woke me. And I had leaked all over my shirt.

I didn't end up even weighing Owen when the midwife visited - he was asleep and then starving when he woke, and we could both see that he's putting on weight by his chubby cheeks and double chin ;-) So we'll find out how much at the 2-week MCHN visit next Tuesday. I think he might be having a growth spurt now too, I have not had longer than 2.5hrs between feeds since 3.40am this morning (it's day 14 since birth for him). So I'm a bit tired now. But at least I know he's getting what he needs.

happymum it would be spot on for him to be having the two week growth spurt now, it is really draining though isn't it I think the two week one is one of the hardest.
Beatrix I'm still trying to work out what to get my midwife for a thank you gift. I'm thinking maybe a voucher for a massage would be ok, I just can't think of anything. Where did you get your pens from? DS3 goes to 3 year old pre school twice a week but it's only three hours each session so not always time for a sleep, if it syncs with when Georgia sleeps too. She's so unpredictable still that sometimes it's worse to lay down and sleep because she will sometimes just have a cat nap and sleeping for a few minutes can sometimes make you feel worse.
We opted for oral vit K too, but seeing as we get discharged as soon as birth weight is reached and all is well with us both, we do the last dose ourselves. She showed us how to open the little ampule thing and got us to do the second dose while she was here.
Harri another good gain with Eleni :) Looks like we all have little piggies in here :D

Yesterday was really hard as it was my grandads funeral. Zoe was great, slept the whole way through it. Which was good cause I could concentrate on the girls and me. Was a beautiful service with over 150 coming and we were also informed he was me mentioned in parliament for all swimming and raising funds for MS society and the MS society were going to name a award in his honor (my aunt has MS and since her diagnoses he has done the MS swimathon, always been the oldest competitor but always raised a lot f money for them and they have admired his dedication)
