Willow- its one of those anti roll things.. not 100% recommended by SIDS though but we do have the angel care monitor in the bassinet and i figure the love to swaddle since her arms are up by her head if its positioned under her arms she cant wiggle down at all and I always place her in the bassinet so her feet are practically touching the bottom
That sounds like something I had with DS2 many years back. It was when they recommended side sleeping and it was like two wedges either side to keep them on their side. Oh how things change, it was SIDS recommended back then. If you didn't have one of those they recommended a rolled up terry flat nappy either side to keep them positioned :)
Just a question.. does anyones else bub when they are fighting sleep or just so tired roll their eyes to the back of their head?

Eleni has been spending a bit more time awake last couple of days...has anyone else noticed this with their bubs? Is it too early for them to be spending an hour or two awake after a feed???
Another question... Is everyone out and about with bub yet?? I can't even remember with DD1 what I did or when I started actually going shopping etc with her!
Harri- yep Zoe has a fair few wake periods now!! Looking around taking in the world.
We started going out about 5 day after bubs was born. I haven't ventured out without DH yet though.

Yep exactly the same her... keep asking my midwife friend if this or that is normal!! LOL prob driving her mental:
Unfort atm Zoe face is covered in milk/hormone pimples. They dont look very nice at all and people ask whats wrong with her face, grrr see even I know that those pimples are completely normal at 2-4 weeks of age and they normally disappear by 6-8 weeks, but they do look angry and nasty :(
We're having more awake time too. Our curtains are most interesting, so are the little square patterns on the lounge :) This afternoon it looked like she was trying to smile at the curtains. I remember DS3 smiling at the heating vents in the ceiling before he started smiling at people lol Doesn't say much for us does it :lol:
I think we forget because we're in a sleep deprived haze in the newborn stage :D
Willow- I love the beginning of smiling stage!! Zoe has started to respond more and follow you when you talk and move, so cute!!
Beatrix- Eleni has some of those too... but they are slowly going away i think!

I was just coming in to ask if it was too early for actual social smiles? I am sure she has been smiling at me today :) So I guess not then, not too early I mean :)
I have now had a rude reminder about sleep deprivation. I do not do it well :( Hats off to all you mummies who wear it well, I just don't. I'm going to try really hard to just fake it and not be a complete witch! I know now why it's been used as an effective form of torture!
I do love my babies so much, but this part is really hard going. This is why they make then so adorable :)

Yeah the sleeping bit is difficult... I seem to do ok most days, maybe I'm a lucky one?... BUT I do remember it being much more difficult to cope with first time around with DD1!!
Do any of your lovely babies decide that the best time to have a poo is the second we get comfy to feed?????? After just 2-3 sucks Eleni lets one go...without fail, EVERY TIME!! hahaha She also likes to pee when I take her nappy off!! :o I don't remember DD1 doing it all that much......

No no tummy time here yet, do we start that this early? I really have forgotten stuff! I know that having them upright on your chest is just as good for head and neck exercise too, so we do that now :)
Georgia pees often when her nappy is off too, I think the cool air might trigger it. I have a folded terry flat nappy under her every change now just in case. She usually wakes up from a sleep and poos, I actually think she would sleep longer if she would poo first. But no she wakes herself up pooing.
How are everyone's nipples going now? Mine are heaps better. I am soooooooo grateful for it too. I stopped BFing my first two really early because of sore bleeding nipples, and lack of support & education. With DS3 I persevered through the pain for well over a month, maybe close to two, until we had him treated at my chiro. So it is a very pleasant surprise this time to be pain free at 2 weeks :D Especially with another frequent feeder.
We had our first few minutes of tummy time today. She wasn't very keen lol
As for nipples. Mine have been fine since day one, its weird. Same thing with DD3 as well but my first two I had cracks and bleeding.
3 weeks old today!!!! And DH goes back to work tomorrow and school goes back so should be interesting morning. Slightly sleep deprived but not too bad. She still waking 2-3 times a night. 2 times to feed and once to resettle.
Had a pretty full on emotional weekend with my grandad being hospitalized on life support and family deciding to remove it as he wouldn't want to live that way so we had to say our good byes and he was read his last rights. For him to actually keep breathing on his own!! He has been sedated but breathing in his own for over 24hrs now so now family has to reasses what medical course to take (he is 83, with multiple health issues) but yeah seriously emotional up and down weekend and I'm drained.
