Freya- I don't dream feed so can't help you there.
I'm so over this patenting gig atm. Ready to pack up and leave. Zoe doesn't sleep longer then 15min if on her own, still waking 1-3 times a night and has to be in our bed, fusses on the breast so much thinks her hand needs to be in her mouth as well, doesn't poop well either. It's been a week and she is def in need of it as her farts stink and she looks like she is trying to get it started. You can sit down with her, she doesn't like anyone else to hold her too.
Her birth mark is huge and so horrible too, makes me a bad mum because I hate to look at this giant thing on her back and just want it gone.
My older kids are also driving me mental, dd3 (5) just started school and getting her dressed in the morning is a night mare.
So yeah not enjoying this much
-
Beatrix - I hate it when things snowball like that. I have no advice, just sympathy.
-
we are back to waking at night here also... 2:30 or 3am and then 5:30-6am She goes down at 8:30pm for the night! So I guess not too bad when you look at it that way..... but when you yourself don't make it to bed before 11am, It doesn't feel like you have had much sleep before the first wake up!
On the plus side we have now finally taken a dummy (Gumdrop brand) so at least she's not comfort sucking until 10:30pm anymore!!
Beatrix- :( so sorry hun! Don't feel like a bad mum....it's normal to not want to look at her birth mark, you just want a perfect little bub, that is understandable!! What are they thinking about doing about it? Lack of sleep will make your frustration worse!!.... Have you looked into sleep school for her?
As for the older ones...just lots of hugs from me!!! Here's hoping that DD3 will get used to the new routine!
Freya- I haven't tried the dream feed, she always lets me know when she wants some! HAHA Doesn't look like he needs one though!! awesome sleeping!!
DB- hope work is OK now!
Willow- how did you go with the MAM brand?.. I need to get a couple bottles for Eleni also, just in case I need them..I through out all of DD1's old Avent bottles as they aren't BPA free!
-
Beatrix   It is really hard to see the positive in anything with so little sleep isn't it! :( I really understand how you feel. On the few nights I got a few hours in a row sleep my whole outlook was better, then a crap night and I'm back to a crap outlook. I am the same as you with not enjoying things as much as I would like to be, especially with my LAST baby. I wish I was enjoying every minute, but I have to make a real effort most days to try and see positive things and stop stressing about cleaning, tidying, cooking, and how all these things are going to get done with a power napping baby that doesn't like being put down for more than 5 minutes as well as trying to give DS3 enough attention so he doesn't feel completely neglected. I honestly get into bed some nights and feel bad for DS3 :( Georgia being so velcro has really eaten into his share of attention :( It was not this hard when my older two were babies & toddlers DS2 was just so much more cruisey, eat - sleep 3-4 hours - wake -eat - play- sleep 3-4 hours then slept through by like 4-6 weeks 7pm to 7am so DS1 didn't miss out as much. I LOVE my kids dearly but this is very hard work! I only have the three year old to deal with as well as Georgia so you are like a legend Beatrix with all your young ones  I hope you get a break soon xx
Freya dreamfeeds never worked for me really. DS3 would always latch on if there was a nipple near his mouth lol it was more of a hassle getting it out! But it never made him sleep longer. If Georgia doesn't want it she just won't take it.
DB I hope you're having a better time of things at work.
Harri I haven't tried the Mam bottles yet. I'm actually hoping to leave her with grandma or dad tomorrow or Sunday while I go and do the groceries. I figure if I'm not there she may know and take the bottle. Here's hoping :crossfingers: If she gets really upset I'm not far away to come home.
We're back from Chiro and I have super relaxed baby again! She slept most of the way home then another hour once we were home. He said she is much better balanced this week, which she is, I could tell when doing our exercises at home. She is still sick though. I honestly can't tell if it's a new cold or the same one just worse. He did say sometimes this young the cranial bones are still moving so it can be hard for their sinuses to clear properly. He did some more sinus release adjustments so hopefully it will help.
-
Beatrix - How many children do you have and what ages are they?
I hope everyone had a good night with their little ones.
We bought a tandem pram last weekend so I'm going to take BD (21 months) and Logan out today or tomorrow. We are rural so it's about 40mins to get to civilisation. I just hope BD is happy to go in the pram. She's so independent and loves to walk around the shops... Unrestrained.
-
Thanks everyone. I know things will get better just want it to hurry up!!
DB- I have 4 girls. 9,7,5 and Zoe. Miss 5 has just started school so we are having fun adjusting period there, miss 9 is hitting the hormonal stage and miss 7 isn't too bad ATM but I believe has sensory issues (only affect her if someone is in her space and she hasn't allowed them to be or is over tired/stimulated) can result in screaming physical tantrum for hrs
-
I am trying SO hard to stay positive and not be cranky with DS3 all the time but please tell me how to do this when he constantly wakes Georgia up after only minutes of sleep? She doesn't sleep much anyway so every minute counts! He is constantly ignoring me too and I just can't keep up 'happy mum' :wall:
When I say waking her up he actually goes over to her talking loudly or kissing her. He does not give her gentle kisses they are big lip smacking ones with exaggerated sound effects that send the swing flying back and forth. If I put her down in the bedroom he'll go in there to 'check' on her too, this also can't be done quietly I am so over it right now!!
-
Willow- I don't know if I did the right thing with DD1 or not, but I have explained that the longer she's quiet and Eleni gets to sleep, WE get time together alone without bubs! I've explained to her that this can be OUR special time when we can do something together!... So far that has seemed to work somewhat!
Bad night here last night.... she went down before 8pm and when I went to bed at 11pm I decided to try a dream feed.... she fed OK, but obviously didn't burp which I think was our issue..... :( because she was up at 1am then at 2:30am then at 4am, then at 6:45!! grrrr:rolleyes: So not trying the dream feed anymore!
-
Willow - have you got safety gates? Maybe you could cordon off a sleeping area.
-
Might try that DB I'm looking for some cheap gates. He could probably get over them though. But then it might be enough to remind him to stop and not go in :D I honestly think he just doesn't think until after he's done it and it's too late. Great idea! Thank you, now to get some gates.
I have tried explaining that when Georgia is asleep we can play together or cook something etc he wants to but when he wakes her he just says 'make her go back to sleep' He doesn't get that it's not that easy :wall:
Hmmm sounds like the dreamfeed didn't work out for you either :(
-
We have extra tall gates in our house because BD is very tall and a climber!
-
willow- that would be incredibly frustrating! Tall gates do sound like they may help.
Well we are beginning to get sleep in her cot! 3hrs each night for two nights, so its a start. takes a bit of patting and reassuring for about 20min but then she is ok. Last night she woke after 3hrs and was fussing so brought her into bed with me where she slept for another 4hrs.. so 7 all up 7pm-2am, then feed (thankfully!! I was so full) then i tried for about 30min to resettle in cot but no luck.. so back in bed with us til 7am. Not bad effort
-
Beatrix - that sounds pretty good to me. I know what you mean by getting relief when they feed. I have to wear a bra to bed with nursing pads so I don't leak everywhere. I won't miss that when I stop feeding.
-
Logan woke every 2.5hrs last night. He fed each time and went syraight back to sleep. I couldn't sleep after being woken up. My eyes have been itchy stingy all day. I need to do so much before bed. I'm so tired. Sick of work. Just want sleep.
I came home from work and picked up BD1 and Logan and took them grocery shopping. I was really craving time alone with them so we've decided I'll do that once a week. Another afternoon each week I'll take them to the park so BD1 can have a play outside and we can spend some nice time together.
It's my effort to not feel like a bad Mummy for leaving them five days a week. Now I'm crying just typing this. I'm really struggling being back at work so soon. It's easier knowing they are at home with DH but I am missing them so much. Unfortunately it's the only way we can cope financially until next year where I should be able to drop to 4 days a week. Life is tough sometimes.it sure makes me appreciate our weekends together though.
-
DB just lots of  :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug::hug: :grouphug: ...YOU ARE NOT A BAD MUMMY! xx
-
Thanks, Willow. Just a bit tired and emotional and it's only Monday!
-
DB- i really feel for you hun, but you are doing a amazing job!!!
so last night I was talked into filling in for my friends netball team ( i used to play competitive netball back in the day but havent played a game in 3 years) and it was good to get out there.. but holy poop are my pelvic floor trashed :( so dug out my aquaflex this morning to try and strengthen them. I thought they were ok since i can sneeze and cough no probs, even jog.. but I def can not jog and jump at the same time.
Had to express before I went too as Zoe was due for a feed but Dh got to feed her and she took the bottle well. Was surprised I could easily express 150ml only 2.5 hrs after her last feed, so pretty happy with my supply. unfort she didnt want to settle to well for him after though and I feel bad as i would love to play every week but dont want her and Dh going through that all the time
-
Beatrix - I love netball too. I have a knee injury that prevents me playing it competitively though. Years of playing on sealed old school courts ruined it. I'd love to get back into though. You've given me the motivation to see what's available around here.
-
Logan has been doing well with the dream feed at 11.30pm. Thanks for the advice. He usually stirs then re-settles at that time. The last few nights I have been feeding him as soon as he stirs at 11.30am (I rarely go to sleep before midnight) then he's slept until 6am and I have to wake then for work anyway.
He's a pretty relaxed little boy which we are grateful for as BD1 is a wild child and comes into our bed at 2 and 3am every morning.
Logan weighed in at 8.3kg at 3 months. My extra gorgeous chubby bubby. He's in 00's and some 0's as he's very long too.
-
Beatrix how do you get anything done??????????? I am going to go insane!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't get anything done my house is still trashed I can't get on top of anything :( It's really getting to me. When I give her to someone and start to get things under control it only takes a day to get out of control again. How do you do it with a clingy baby?? :wall: :wall:
DB glad the dreamfeed is working for you :) sounds like he's thriving. I haven't had G weighed for ages, since 8 weeks! I might do that this week.
G is still sinusy it's been a while now. She's also starting to feed and then crying pulling off and rubbing her face. I can't tell if she's angry or if it's pain. She only does it through the day, night feeds she just grumbles I pick her up she feeds no problem then goes straight back to sleep. Apart from her normal don't put me down self, through the day she is fine and happy except for when she starts to feed. I don't know what's going on any ideas? She hasn't had a temp at all.
-
Willow - Logan does exactly the same thing. He pulls off or feeds while scratching/rubbing his face. For him, I think it means he's more tired than hungry. I looked it up online and it seems it's a common sign for over-tiredness. When he does it I usually have him take a nap in my arms and he'll sleep for about 15-30mins and then feed him. Usually he's better then. Logan usually only does it with his right arm when he's feeding on my right side. He's not as animated with his left arm. He has fussed like that when he's ran out of milk on one side too.
Hope this helps.
-
Thanks DB, she does it when she's tired too or when the milk's gone. But then sometimes she does it and really screams. This morning we were having a sleep in. DP took her out to play and bought her back in when she got hungry. She fed fine then had a sleep she woke up had a chat then wanted more milk, but started to pull off and rub her face and whinge, so she wasn't overtired, she just woke up and there was milk, so I can't work it out :wall: But it starts about 10am and it's nearly every feed until about 8 or 9 at night.
-
Willow- Zoe sleeps in her swing sometimes during the day so I rush around then plus DH finishes work and is home by 2:30pm and all my older kids at school so don't trash house during the day. Every night before bed they have to tidy up as well and they do the dishes and other chores. Or I do it all one handed.
As for the feeding Zoe new thing is pinching and gumming me which is hurting!! She also rubs her eyes and fusses when tired.
Willow is g going through breast refusal?
Think we are doing our 4 month old needles this week.
-
I do what I can with one hand but some stuff you just can't lol well I can't anyway. Unfortunately not all the big people in my house have the same idea of cleaning or tidying as me nor do they worry about living in chaos and I get sick of asking, maybe I need to become a nagger.
Ouch on the gumming and pinching!
I guess it could be breast refusal, I haven't really dealt with that before so not sure how it presents. So would they tell you they are hungry then crack it and refuse? It seems to be after she gets the let down too :dunno:
-
Willow- def time to crack down on he big people in you house!! Do both your boys live at home?
You could give them one of two options 30min a night of either baby carrying or 1 hr of house work.....
Yep breast refusal can be even when they are hungry.
I brought Zoe a gummee glove can not wait for it to arrive!! Might save my poor nips lol
-
I saw those on fb they look great! G is eating her hands like nothing else and loves chewing on her toys but drops them. I was a bit put off by the price though! I might have to give in and get one if they're really good, let me know what you think.
G is very cranky this morning. Feeding has been really bad but I'm pretty sure it's pain. I just can't work out if it's her sinuses or teeth :( I have put DS3s amber necklace on her but that won't kick in for a day or two, if it lasts that long lol If he sees it he'll probably crack it. I need to order her one. I might go and get some Brauers Teething Relief that was awesome with DS3, Panadol didn't help him at all and I don't like giving it unless I absolutely have to.
She's awake again and not happy gotta go
-
Willow- I got mine for $22 inc postage so pretty happy with that. Had a discount code for a day. Can not wait for it to arrive.
Had to do housework with missy on my back in manduca today. Poor thing wasn't happy. She goes 7-10 days without pooping and gets really grumpy and irritable on the day before or of her poop. Wish she was a little more regular so it didn't agitate her like it does.
Think we are doing needles tomorrow or Thursday. Have GP check tomorrow morning anyway to just have a all over and growth check. Hoping to get referral to day sleep school to get her sleeping in her own bed, but in saying that I miss her when she's not snuggled into me.
-
Hi ladies...
Willow- hope you can get to the bottom of the fussing...can she breath ok through her nose?? or is she having trouble and getting cranky?? could be teeth also... Eleni has been chewing her hands like crazy last few weeks also!!
Beatrix- Eleni still poos nearly every feed.. not as bad as before, but I'm happy for it to be like that because the other day she only pooed once and it was UGLY! haha
I'm not sure about the glove either! I think Eleni would find some way to get it off! lol
I just got the reminder for needles from my GP yesterday too, so I will be calling today to make an appointment!
We have also started solids.... very small amount at dinner time when we sit at the table!... This last week she has been cracking it while we sit at the table for dinner, so I gave her something!!... started with just a small bit of banana on my finger and she went crazy!....Shoved my finger into her mouth and sucked like crazy!...So I figured I worked out what it was that she wanted!!! I make sure I give her a milk feed before dinner.. then when we sit down to dinner I give her a little something, ahhhhh silence!!
-
Harri- how are the solids going?
Well we had needles on Tuesday and obviously they wernt very pleasant. Slowly getting our happy baby back. But we did get 9:30pm til 5am sleep on the the Tuesday night (still co sleeping but am happy with that) unfort last night back to the 2am wake up but still not unhappy with that either as she goes straight back to sleep.
The gummee glove arrived and she LOVES it!! Still learning to not wack herself in the head with it but chews and sucks on it plus is got the crackle type sound paper in it too.
-
Solids are doing well...I'm only giving her a tiny bit at dinner time to keep her quiet!!! She happily takes a few teaspoons worth of whatever it is! Today avocado, she's opening her mouth for it too! Her fav is banana, hehe don't blame her! I know it's early, but she really wants it!
Glad the glove is a hit and immunisations went well! We have ours on Tuesday morning after MCHN!!!
-
Hey everyone - how's everything going? Babies must be reaching some big milestones soon. Can't believe Logan is encroaching on four months!
-
DB- yeah they sure are!! Can't believe they are 4 months already!!.....
We had MCHN on Tuesday, growing well!!...only 5.885kg though!!....thought she was heavier than that! Nurse reckons her weight has leveled off so her body is starting to need solids..... She's also agreed that Eleni is ready for it and is asking for it!.... I will upload a pic of her taking the spoon from me and feeding herself!! :O I was shocked! LOL
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-flicked-mush/
We also had our needles... so she's been a little cranky/clingy over last 2 days....
Things are so busy at the moment.. and I can't seem to get on top of housework etc!!... If I take time out for myself, then everything else gets pushed back and before you know it there is a mountain of things to do :( Eleni isn't sleeping much in the afternoon any more, so by the time 5pm comes along she's all cranky! arg! right when I want to cook dinner etc etc.... same old story... what is it with these kids and thinking they don't need sleep!!????
Hope everyone else is doing better these days!
-
That photo is adorable! Obviously very ready for solids. Lol.
-
Thanks DB, yeah I think so too.... just veggies and fruit to start, when she has the hang of it, we'll start adding meats...! :)
-
Very cute Harri!!
Zoe had her needles, wasn't a happy camper for a couple of days but better now. Almost 19 weeks old now!!!
We haven't rolled back to tummy yet but have done tummy to back. She is getting a lot better at being happy with out being held when she is awake, very active!!. Sleeping that's a whole different story and we are working on getting her to sleep longer then 20-40 min in her cot. Baby steps.
-
Sounds like everyone's doing well :) I haven't been on much the last week or so things have been hectic here. It just occurred to me the other day I haven't had G weighed since 8 weeks still! :o Slack mummy! We have a friend living with us who just had a baby on Tuesday :D Midcall will be here again tomorrow if they do a weigh I'm going to see if I can sneak G on too, they wouldn't mind surely? I'm so slack lol but it would save me a trip out to the clinic.
I think G may be ready for solids before too long as well she's paying lots of attention to eating so we will see.
We are now on our 6th cold and I am just so done with it!!!
Baby free time during the day is getting slightly better here still not enough to actually get too much done but it will get better. Nights I can't complain about with usually 3 wakes, the first being 4-5 hours after going down then 2 or 3 hours after that. When she isn't in the worst part of a cold the first stretch is in her bed then in with me after that, possibly because it's just easier for me that way.
The best news is though that while I was at the hospital with my friend for her birth G finally took a bottle :leap: :leap: Once she got the hang of it she had 2 more and one again the next day :D So I'm really pleased with that! It was from the Mam bottles, not sure they played a big part could have just been hunger but I'm happy either way :D
-
That's great, Willow. Glad G managed with bottles. It's certainly a relief when they go between boob and bottle without drama. My little man hasn't skipped a beat when it comes to that. One less thing to worry about.
I'm holding my boy right now. So beautiful. I haven't actually been to bed yet. Thought I'd get some cleaning done while everyone was sleeping. He's just finished feeding - more like a dream feed because he's eyes only opened for about 1 minute. I'm loving the dream feed. Logan seems to be coping with it. Doesn't really wake much - just latches on and goes with it. He has been going to bed around 6-6.30pm and then waking anytime between 11pm and 1am for a feed and then at 4.30am and then right before I leave for work at 7.30am.
Logan has finally found his lungs. He's been such a placid laid back little fellow. Now he yells out for us. It's like living in a nursing home. Lol. Most of the time he just goes with the flow probably because my almost two year old is being so demanding of late. He doesn't stand a chance!
I'm loving the chaos that is my family.
Have a great weekend everyone.
-
Db- awww love when they can start demanding for you. There little personalities are starting to show now.
Willow- yay for the bottle!!
Lol Zoe has quite the drama queen personality. Lately you can tell the different between her I need mummy to her not happy tantrum. It's amusing.
We just got a 3 hr stretch in her cot!! 2hrs was solid sleep and the other hr was a bit of fusing. It did take me downloading a white noise app and it playing the whole time but I can deal with that. Feeding now then going to attempt cot again.
-
That's great, Beatrix. 3hrs is a huge nap on her own. Which app did you use for the white noise?
-
It's called White noise.
We ended up getting 2 x 3hr stretches in her cot last night followed by 4 with me
