I bet you feel good today.
Felt so weird waking up with her not there!!
The second time I think she only woke because our angel care monitor beeped which woke me and I look over at her and she was so still so I kinda jiggled her LOL and that stirred her too much to resettle so came over into our bed and back to sleep no feed
I do that kind of thing too. Logan sleeps silently and I'm forever checking his breathing and waking him up.
Can you believe there is a Due in April 2014 group already :o
Beatrix- so happy that you seem to be getting somewhere with the sleeping!! :) Hope it continues to improve for you!!
Willow- Happy you had a win also!! :)
DB- LOL I must must have gotten used to the longer sleeps when Eleni was a newborn, so I'm kinda used to it and don't seem to have to check on her! When I do though, it's like she can smell me coming and bang.... we are awake!
Freya- I can't believe it... it feels only like yesterday that we where all talking about morning sickness, low lying placentas and baby equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o Now our babies are starting solids!
Freya- yep crazy
Harri- sleep is hit and miss, I would kill for a full night sleep, no wakes but we are still on 1-2 a night (most the time 2) but she is sleeping in her cot so thats a bonus.
Zoe has really mastered art of raspberries and it is truly disgusting and hysterical at the same time... saliva everywhere (serious amounts of drool atm too) she thinks she is so funny too
Hi everyone. Logan is 4 months on Sunday... is it growth spurt time already? He fed every 1.5-2hrs overnight. I'm so tired I could cry. He was constantly on the boob. Sigh. It usually only lasts a few days so I know I just have to grin and bare it.
Yep DB. 4 month old growth spurt and sleep regression too.
We had the growth spurt, was about 3-5 days of constant feeding. I have been taking blessed thisle to help encourage my supply too so she doesnt have to be attached 24/7 to ip it. Sleep regression, well I'm pretty sure that requires them sleeping well before hand LOL
Both bub and I are sick. This really sucks when I cant take anything :(
Ah ha! I'm also so tired I could cry! G's been waking between 6-8 times through the night to feed. I have her in bed with me so don't get up but I am just exhausted :(
I just grabbed the WW book to have a look at too I thought there must be something going on because she is pretty much constant whinging through the day an very velcro even for her! Evenings/nights are worse. She is sick again with yet another cold so that probably isn't helping :wall:
Freya hope you're both better soon :hugs:
Seems like all our babies are going through some changes at the moment....!
I "THINK" sleep here during the day is getting better... Eleni has taken to a Taggie blankie that DD1 had but never used!... So far the last couple of days she has gone to sleep in her cot without much fuss. Dummy and blankie in hand!! ( She likes to have it resting on her face, so have to keep an eye on her ) We still have a little problem with our late afternoon sleep...she normally wants to go about 4:30-5pm but wont...maybe has something to do with DD1 being home etc. So I put her in the highchair..lay her back, with dummy and blankie and she falls asleep while watching DD1 play/do homework etc!!.. seems to be working and that small 45min nap does wonders!
well speaking of the little miss... I can hear her waking from her lunch time nap now.... short lived.... sleeps are only about 1hr long....
At night she still wakes once, at about 2-3am!...
Ahh harri we only have short 30min sleeps lately. Driving me bonkers and you have to fight hard for her to get to sleep.
Night time she goes to sleep no worries wakes at 1-2 times a night depending on when she goes to sleep. Last night got 10-5 but its hit and miss.
Currently DH is trying to put her to sleep because she is trashing around but I have a feeling I'm going to have to take over in a sec.
Other then that we have rolling
Beatrix- I know what you mean... lately her were taking longer than she ACTUALLY sleeps... but the last few days something has changed... either she's over her WW...or the taggie has worked...not sure!
Eleni goes to sleep between 7:30 and 8:30pm normally... then wakes about 2am for feed, then at about 5:30-6:30am!
It does sound like Zoe is getting much better at her sleeps....still going in the cot? Well done on the rolling!!! that's awesome... Eleni sits on her side, but has yet to commit to rolling over!!! haha
Logan is on the improve too. He sleeps from 6.30pm and then I give him a dream feed at 11pm before I go to bed and he sleeps until 5-6am. I still hav to get up to express or I leak. That part is driving me nuts.
Holy poop!! Zoe is 5 months old tomorrow!!!!
and we almost have a toothy peg through, this kid can drool!! Saw her specialist too today about her birth mark and she seems to think it has reached it peak as it hasn't grown in 6 weeks, so fingers crossed. Now just to play the waiting game to see if and when it starts to fade and go down.
Lol she has since stopped rolling too, figured yep can do this not doing it anymore now. She has discovered and is in love with her feet! Can barely reach them though over her chuckiness ROFL Starting to get steadier on sitting up too but practically ends up kissing the floor bent over after a while.
Sleeping is really hit and miss and just going with what works still, which is half night in her cot and half with us. Feeding 1 maybe 2 times a night. Teething is unsettling her at times though.
Planning her naming day and my 30th for a joint event in Nov, can't wait to make her day special, so much so my 30th is just a side event compared to what I want for her LOL
so how is everyone else?
It's been a bit crazy here lately lots happening so haven't been in much.
Night sleep has gone way backwards :( We are onto about cold number 7 now when. will. this. end!? I am desperately hoping that all the colds are affecting her sleep. She was doing 4-6 hour stretches at least once through the night but I haven't seen one of those for weeks. She now wakes every hour or two, I'm having flashbacks to DS3 and terrified she won't go back to decent stretches when she's better
No rolling here she's closer to rolling back to front than front to back because she still just cries on her tummy after about a minute.
Lots of drool and gumming things but still no sign of a tooth yet, I'm quite happy about that the way she bites my nipple and drags it out of her mouth though :o Not keen on that with teeth hurts enough with gums!
We have a friend who lives with us and she's just had a baby girl 3 weeks ago. Her bub likes to be held when she sleeps too so we've hired an Amby Baby Hammock for two weeks to try it out and see if we have any luck getting them to sleep in it instead of us having to hold them. If it works we might both look a buying one. It's a really old model by the look of it, but it does the same thing as the newer ones which is the main thing.
G looks enormous now compared to a newborn! It's crazy how fast they grow!!
Logan went through a couple of days of refusing to drink unless we are both laying down. He's over that now it seems.
Have you started solids or waiting until 6 months?
We are probably going to wait a little longer if our little boy can hold out until 5 months.
Willow- yeah Zoe grabs my nipple and drags it, have started taking her off when she gets nasty with it. I have been forced to yelp a few times.
DB- Zoe has has a tiny bit of banana and apply but isnt interested so prob will try again in 2-4 weeks. I am a extreme hover atm because my sister who's dd is 2 weeks older then her has started solids and she lets her have pretty much any thing (this morning she ate a bertie beetle) and I am dead set against people feeding Zoe any food I deem inappropriate. We have had Aunts already try and allow her to lick custard, gravy etc of their fingers and been told off but I know they will just try it when Im not looking too so i tend to stick around.
Don't you love it when everyone ignores what you say?!? That would have me hovering too.
So, your niece eats a chocolate at 5 months? Wowsers.
I would be hovering too! If they are happy for their babies to eat Bertie Beetles for breakfast well that's their issue bit they need to respect your choices for your babies grrrr it makes me cranky too when other 'well meaning' people decide to override you.
We haven't started solids here yet, she watches avidly hen we eat but I don't want to offer just yet. I sort of want her 100% well before adding anything else to the mix ITMS. She looks like she wants wants to eat when we eat, but if she got hold of a clump of dog poo that would go straight in her mouth too lol so it could be just that she wants what we have food or not.
The Amby hasn't made any difference to G's sleeps so I don't think we'll be buying one. She has slept in it a couple of times but not for any longer than usual so no point spending the extra money. I however would love an adult sized one for myself :D
Yeah she did and posted a pic on fb of it too.. Lots of how cute comments. (She has also had maccas chips)
My sis while she has good intentions is a first time mum, and I try not to place my strong opinions onto her because well it will cause a nightmare..I remember 9 years ago as a first time mum and ill informed feeding my eldest DD all sorts of rubbish at a young age because I didn't know any better and thought it was ok. Zoe is my priority and she won't be eating that for a long time.
I don't want to cause arguments in the family and my parents would side with her as they think well you kids ate that when you were young and your ok type stuff. my grandma always brings up the time her and I got into a full blown argument about dd3 having a lick of a Tim tam when she was 6 months old and hadn't started solids.
willow- too bad about the hammock not helping. Is she all snotty or chesty?
She's a bit snotty and has a little cough. I can't really tell if the cough is from this bug or left over from the last one. Her eyes seem to be itchy as well it started with a bit of conjunctivitis so obviously her eyes are still bugging her.
You're right about first time mum stuff, I was a shocker too with my first. But having said that, my oldest is 21 there was no internet, much less awareness of healthy eating and my only education was from friends and family so monkey see monkey do. These days there's so much more readily available info you don't have to look far to find and with you being pretty healthy and onto it sounds like a bit more just not really fussed about it. I am horrified at some stuff I did with my eldest two! Wouldn't dream of it now, live and learn I guess.
Logan slept for 11.5hrs last night!
Go Logan!!!! :D
Go Logan!!!
We had 2nd night in a row in the cot with only one wake!!
and we have a TOOTH!!!!!!! just cut through!! lol looking forward to breast feeding now
Yay Zoe!! On both counts :) Beatrix I was just reading that nipple biting and pulling the breast out can be from having a fast flow. Do you have a fast flow? I know I do, now to work out how to help it slow, or help G cope with it.
Nah i dont think i do.. she gets pooey when it slows down at the ends and the drags my nipple
Logan has a red rash on his cheeks and under his chin. It could be dry skin. I hope that's all it is. He is happy as usual. Just looks sore.
Could be teething and or dribble rash DB. Georgia gets bright red cheeks every now and then when her teeth are moving and her skin gets dry where it's red. DS3 was the same and his chin used to get red too.
Thanks Willow. It looks like rough and bumpy skin.
Beatrix - I've read that babies do that pulling when they are trying to increase supply as their needs grow. I dot know if it is right or not though.
DB- lol I'm pretty sure she does it when she needs to swap sides
As for the rash could excema be a possibility?
hi ladies...
haven't been in for a while... busy as usual and this week has been a hard one with DD1 sick...two days off school, high temp, sore throat and now a cough...on antibiotics now!... I really hope that Eleni pulls through with just mild symptoms as DD1 was pretty bad for a couple days... Eleni already has a snuffly nose and an occasional cough, so hope that it stays that way!!
DB- Eleni gets that rash when I wipe her face with fragrant wipes!!!....but could also be dribble rash etc. It's hard to know!
Beatrix- well done on the tooth!! I think Eleni has one coming soon...she's chewing and making growly noises!!
Willow- I hope things are on the improve now!!...I haven't had much sleep this week due to DD1 and I tell you.....Im feeling it now!! so I can only imagine how you are coping! xx
Solids debate- each to their own...but there is no excuse for feeding so much sugar/salt to such a small baby!!..... after 1yr, go for it!! DD1 was my first almost 6 years ago and I think I was MORE careful with HER than with Eleni..although I still don't let anyone near her with egg/nuts etc!
Harri- def agree about the sugar part!! But unfort im not willing to cause WW3 voicing my concerns
Things are pretty good here now with sleep! She sleeps in her cot at night only waking prob once a night now for food. The last couple of nights we have got 1 x 7 hr stretch and 1 x 8hr stretch so pretty happy with that.
I have been debating one thing though... she is chewing on absolutely everything, growling etc and was thinking maybe teething rusks might help her but shes not 6 months yet... so not sure if i should... we have tried all teething stuff, put things in the fridge etc as well but she doesnt like any of them. mush prefers my finger
Beatrix- I know what you mean re WW3... BUT they also need to respect your wishes re your OWN child! That's awesome sleep!!!
teething rusks..... I think the main thing with the 6 month thing is the gluten debate?? yeah?
Harri- yeah for now they arnt trying to feed Zoe anything and they are all aware of my stance.. since my sister is less strict on the matter they can get their needing to feed baby junk joy from her child LOL
not sure about the gluten thing
Beatrix- I think I read somewhere that that is the reason they recommend no pasta/wheat etc until 6 months...? But each child is different, and if you think she can handle the rusk why not try it!..... I think I have a pack in the cupboard that was part of a gift pack we were given by a friend...might try it out on her, put her in the high chair while I'm cooking dinner so I can watch her and let her have it.
At the moment Eleni is loving her solids and we have tried out chicken this week... no problems there!.... She eats anywhere between 130-160ml of food and then follows it up with about 50-60ml baby yogurt or fruit. So not bad!! she does that lunch and dinner...I will wait until she is closer to 6 months before adding breakie as well. Something tells me she wouldn't be complaining about it!
She still has milk in between food, bedtime and whenever she is thirsty. I give her water at meal times in a sippy cup, she fins the avent 6 month spout easier than the 4 month spouts! Don't blame her, have you seen the size of those spouts??
