Thanks Mini & Miloro.
Mini - I hope your family are better soon. Last week DD1 had gastro & one night I was getting up between DD1 vomiting & DD2 feeding.
Miloro - I need to find some other mother's with babies near me. I moved far from my DD1s mother's group. Having other mums around makes a difference.
-
Thanks...I'm hoping they are on the mend. We did a Dora movie marathon today..didn't leave the house.
Where did you move to moi? Its always nice to have others to talk to.
I'm sitting here contemplating m bf journey once again. Its messing with my head. I wish he would just get it. I'm expressing ridiculous amounts too, but I hate expressing. I've had a few melt downs today. Anyway..he's crying again...
-
Thinking of you mini  your doing a great job in a challenging situation. Trust that your a good mummy and you know whats best for you both x.
Good on you for getting social miloro. I didnt have the confidence to go to a mothers group but wish I did.
Moi nice to see you back. congratulations on the birth of your little girl.
We are ok. Struggling a bit. But I had my younger sister round yesterday helping with vacuuming, washing and so on while henry and I were attached at my breast! He went to dp for a little while when he got home but stared at me the whole time. He's totally boob obsessed. I think your spot on mini. I googled wonder weeks and it makes sense. So im trying to relax and trust it will pass. Dp didn't talk to me for two hours last night because I had a little outburst and said I wanted to throw henry out the ****ing window when he wouldnt stop screaming in the car. Obviously im not going to but I think dp doesnt understand how frustrated im getting by the end of the day.
-
Hugs peace. I've said and thought the same when desperate but would never dream of doing anything. It's venting your frustrations. I'm glad you found the wonder weeks helpful. I have the book and its spot on. Explains a lot.
My little man is a cling on this evening so that's it from me...oh...he had 2 successful bf from me today, no top up. Yay.
-
Mini - I moved from the North of Melbourne to the South of Melbourne. :-) So technically I could have still kept going to my mother's group but DD1 hated being in the car and would scream during every drive. It was over an hour away and I couldn't handle being in a car that long with a screaming baby. :-(
Glad the BF worked today. I'm also having issues. Milla keeps pulling off crying and I don't know what's wrong. :-( I'm struggling to feed her now and it's so frustrating. :-(
Peace - Thanks. :-) I also have the wonder weeks book and app and recommend it. I totally understand the frustration!
-
I'm in springvale south...are you anywhere near me? I've not had any success since yesterday. What's worse...or good.. Is we gave him a bottle of formula and he went 5hrs between feeds. And even worse he has super bad rash on his bum which the girls had but cleared up after changing to formula. Its not working here and I don't know why I'm still hanging on. None of them got it. I'm torn. I know even with dd3 she still didn't get it after 8 weeks. My pump goes back too on Tuesday. I've slowed down on that too. Anyway I'm just thinking out load. Other than that he is doing well. He popped on another 120gms so birth weight was 3333gms and at 4 weeks he's 3850gms. He's gone from 48cms to 53cms and I've just changed him into 000 clothes.
-
I might buy the book too mini. If I read it at feed times I could probably get through it pretty quickly. Im glad you got a few good feeds in!! Wish I had some awesome advice for you.
Henrys hair is falling out at an incredible rate. Everywhere he puts his head he leaves a whole lot of hair behind. And its come out in uneven patches lol poor kid.
-
Peace - I found the wonder weeks book at my local library and borrowed it first before buying it. So that's an option if you want to see it before you buy it. There's also an app you can buy but I prefer the book.
Mini - I'm in Cheltenham so that's not far from you I think. Right now I'm questioning BFing too. Milla doesn't seem happy on the breast now and I have no idea why. :-( It's doing my head in. DD1 was never really into BFing either but I made it to 10 months with her. It was a struggle though and when I stopped she didn't miss it at all!
-
I've not successfully bf any of mine. They never latch on and would cry and scream at theboob. I've not pumped since early hours of the morning and my boobs are full and tender. If I remember rightly it will be a few days til this settles down. I'm sad that this hasn't worked again but my head was going crazy over it. Never mind, I'm retiring my Boobs forever...just like my uterus. Which reminds me, I need to book the man in for the snip.
Also not much bas been said about getting Mr L circumcised. Dh wanted it done only so they could look the same. I told him that it doesn't bother me either way but I am not going to get him done. I already saw my little man after surgery so I'm not doing it again, unnecessarily. Thankfully he's only changed one nappy in all this time and has not commented on it at all.
-
Moi im sorry your having a hard time feeding.. have you tried an lc to help figure out why?
Mini I hope those boobs settle down quickly for you. We haven't circumcised either. Im dreading just getting his immunizations done! My dp isnt circumcised though so it was never something I had to consider.
We had a good day with H yesterday. He spaced out his feeds a bit more, had some good sleeps and had some nice playtime. Last night he went 4 hrs from start of feed to start of feed for the first time in ages and holy cow my boobs were massive lol
Did I mention I got a very normal period at 6 weeks pp? Has anyone else? Im so disappointed. I thought I wouldn't get it back for a while.
-
Thanks peace, by last night my boobs were huge and uncomfortable and I went to jump in the shower and my top was soaked. I had to sleep on my back last night, I'm Hopi g things settle soon. I'm feeling better in my mind now I've made a decision and sticking to it. At least my boobs are liked by one person in this family.....
I'm just past 4 weeks pp and my bleeding is just there when I wipe. Its quite light with dd3 I got my first AF 6 months pp but I wasn't on any birth control. It suck coz you never know when it will come. I read that a lady only had 5 days pp bleeding...I've just had 4 weeks darn it. I guess what I'm saying is our bodies are so different there's no set standard. However...that sucks. Glad to hear you had a better time with your little man. There's a saying...the first 6 weeks are hell, the next 6 weeks aren't that much better but after that, things get easier. Its true... But there's light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm off to visit my mum today with the kids by myself. My first big outing other than the shops. Its only half an hour drive but now I need to think of formula and bottles and nappies and spare clothes... Oh joy. Have a good Sunday x
-
Mini - I had to combine BF & FF with DD1. I'm trying to just do BF with DD2 but might have to use formula too if I can't sort out our BF issues.
Peace - I haven't consulted a LC but I really should. Our council has a LC you can see, so I'll see if I can book in to see her. I'm also just past 4 weeks & still having some light bleeding.
How old are your babies now?
-
Id be happy to combine both if I didn't have to express ever and he got some feeds out of it. I'll let my Boobs settle and try him in a few weeks. I only just stopped lactating just before I got pg with L.
Who's babies are you asking about? My kids are now 6,4,2 and 4 weeks.
-
Yeah give it a go moi! I had lots of lc's for the week we spent in hospital and I think thats really helped us get a good attachment happening before going home. Theyre not all fantastic but hopefully you've got a good one. My boy is 7 weeks. Just remembered I need to add you to the list.
I spent the day shopping for a bed rail because im scared henry will just roll over one night and fall. Couldnt find them at big w or target. Ill check out baby bunting and toys r us tomorrow.
-
Mini - I was asking about everyone's babies. I remember now that there's a list somewhere with birthdays I could look at. I'm lucky that my girls attach. They just don't stay on! So DD1 started losing weight and I had to give FF as well. I was hoping this time I could solely BF but DD2 is also pulling off.
Peace - I'm seeing the MCHN tomorrow for Milla's 4 week checkup so I'll ask her too. Did you find a bed rail?
-
Silly me. Excuse my brain..must be the complete lack of sleep I'm getting. Lachlan is almost 5 weeks..I have updated my ticker now. Good luck with you bf journey, I hope it works out well for you.
Lachlan is super fussy atm...he cries all the time, wants to be carried and seems hungry all the time but fussed at the bottle. According to my wonder weeks chart he's due for a leap. Hes given us a few odd smiles too. I'm hoping he settles soon coz I'm knackered. My Boobs are aching but getting better. Tomorrow is his kidney ultrasound, then for the next 2 weeks he has a hip u/s a surgical review, our 6 week check up and his newborn services review for hips and kidneys. My poor girls have school holidays at this time and all we will be doing is running around for appointments. Never mind. Well I'm off to bed hoping to get some sleep .
-
That must be so frustrating for you moi. I couldnt get to the shops yesterday as henry was being a bugger and demanding me almost all day. Ill try tomorrow I think because I need to go out to the clinic anyway. Cant wait to get him measured and weighed! Hes starting to grow out of lots of 0-3m and 000 stuff its crazy.
Sorry L is giving you a hard time mini. I hope it doesn't last too long.
I bought up big on book depository yesterday. I have 5 books on the way including the wonder weeks and some gentle parenting and attachment parenting books. If henrys going to glue himself to me I may as well make it look intended!
Better go get breakfast before dp goes to work and I miss my chance.
-
Mini - Why does L need an ultrasound for his kidneys & hips? I really should read back through old posts as I'm sure some things have already been covered.
I had Milla's four week check today and the MCHN thinks there's something wrong with her left hip. :-( So she said I need to make an appointment with the paediatrician who was present at her birth and get it checked out. The good news though is that despite her fussiness at the breast, she has put on weight! :-) So I can keep BF only for now. :-)
Peace - I also bought a few books on book depository a couple of weeks ago and they've already arrived. :-)
-
During the scans they found his kidney s to be dilated...excess fluid, so he is n daily antibiotics and had a scan to make sure its OK. The hip scan is because he was breech and also I have a strong family history of hip dysplasia. My eldest was in a pavlik harness until 8 months old.
Omg I'm so tired. I'm falling asleep
-
Mini - DD1 was breech so she had an ultrasound on her hips and they were fine. DD2 wasn't breech but the nurse thinks her hips aren't fine. I have an appointment with the paed in 2 weeks, so I guess he'll decide whether to send her for an ultrasound.
I hope the excess fluid has gone now from his kidneys.
-
Did you birth dd1 vaginally or was she a sec? I got to do mine vaginally because I'd had 3 previous v births. It was the most surreal experience ever. Good luck with dd2 and her hips. Hoping all is well. If you need any info I'm happy to try and help. Where did you have dd2 if your just down the road from me? I had mine at Monash.
Hope everyone else is well. I think I'm coming down with something but trying to ignore it. Hard to escape in this sick house. Lachlan is 5 weeks old today. Its so hard to believe. I'm feeling pretty good otherwise and m thinking of starting an exercise regime. I put on so much weight this time, but I'm at the same point in KGS as I was with dd3, so I've got a long road ahead..
Dh is booking in for the snip soon. Good man:-) anyone DTD yet? I'm starting to get any but nervous....lol.
-
We dtd at about 4 and a half wks pp mini. I only had a couple of labial grazes after the birth but it was still uncomfortable and we've only done it 2-3 times since.
We went up to our clinic this morning and h has gained 750g and 3.5 cm in 2 weeks. Little binge eater isnt wasting a drop it would seem!
-
Mini - I had a Caesar with DD1, which I'm glad I did as at the time it was discovered she was doing the splits, so one leg would have come out and she would have gotten stuck! I decided with DD2 to have a VBAC and I did start labour but ended up with another CS. I had DD2 at Cabrini. It was a choice between Monash & Cabrini but I went private and my ob only delivered at Cabrini.
We haven't DTD yet as I've been healing from the CS. M will be 5 weeks tomorrow so I might be healed enough by now.
-
Little H had his immunizations today. I couldnt go in I was close to tears in the waiting room before we even saw the nurse! Anyway dp handled it and I just popped h on the boob when they came out. Hes a bit sooky tonight but no temp yet.
I got milky smiles this afternoon :-) made my day.
-
Hi Girls I have a lot of catching up to do..... I seem to have no free time atm
Easton is not a sleeper both my boys got colds and he hasn't slept well since then, doesn't like his bassinet and I'll put him to sleep and 5 mins later he's awake it's exhausting....only way is if I wear him in my soft carrier but can't do that all day as my back isn't great :/ I really feel like I'm neglecting my 3.5yr old tho he seems to be coping fine. I think we've just done a wonder week so hoping he'll settle abit more nxt week. Can't believe he's 6weeks old tho has gone so fast!
Peace have u had success with a dummy yet? I went through 2 brands till I got one that worked he seems to like the mam ones, but its a life saver otherwise he's attached 24/7
-
Hey blue nice to hear from you. I hope your boys are feeling better. Dummy still not happening here. Im hesitant to keep buying more because it seems such a waste of money if he still won't take one. Such a weird kid lol
Oh I miss lazy Sunday morning sleep ins...
-
I think my Caesar scar is infected suddenly. :-(
-
Oh moi I hope not! What's it doing? Have you had it checked yet?
-
I saw a GP this morning and yes it is infected, so now I have a course of antibiotics to take. :-\
-
That's no good but at least you've been seen to and hopefully you'll get on top of it.
I'm having a rough time with L. He's by far my hardest baby. He screams all the time...I'd definitely go with reflux. He's also got an umbilical hernia and today I've noticed the other side of his groin has also herniated...thankfully we have a review at the hospital tomorrow morning. I'm just tired. I hope we get on top of these issues soon.
-
I think the antibiotics are already working. :-)
How did the hospital review go Mini?
-
Lachlan has to have surgery on Monday for his hernia. Oh well. This kids had more than me already!
-
Oh mini your poor little man is certainty having a rough start. You poor mumma it must be so frustrating and stressful for you. :hug:s to you both
Moi im glad the antibiotics are already kicking in for you. Hope its not too uncomfortable for you.
Bought a pump today! I plan to have him fed ebm when i go back to work in jan/feb but seeing as he wont even take a dummy, i want to start getting him used to a bottle now. I figure ill just get dp to give him one every now and then. Ive gotten all medela stuff and opted for the expensive bottle that has to be sucked like a breast. Now I have some questions because im terrified of messing up my supply or him losing interest in my boobies :-(
1. How much will he take in a feed?
2. When do I pump? He usually only has one side per feed of a morning so after a feed should I just pump the other side? I don't want to end up with all hindmilk or all foremilk..
3. Is it ok to start now with him only being 2 months old or should I wait longer...
Oh its scary messing with something that works well as it is..
-
Moi hope the antibiotics help... If it's having trouble healing i swear by coconut oil it's soothing and antibacterial has healed my scar so much faster as my last csection took 6 months to heal.
Mini I hope everything goes ok sorry ur having a rough time, reflux is so hard my first had it and was on meds and I'm pretty sure Easton had it tho its mild at the moment just wakes him up all the time :( just bought a rocker/cradle which is on a 45degree angle first night tonight I'm hoping it helps us :)
Peace I have always offered both sides and used to just express after the feed so if you know he won't want the other breast within an hour then express that side :) I know girls who pick a completely none feeding time in the evening to express a full feed just remember u won't get out as much as he will and its good to do it at same time everyday as usually after 6-8 weeks your body makes what he needs :)
We r good Easton's growing so fast he put on 660gms in a fortnight! Still not sleeping great think due to reflux/wind and has just finished a wonder week so hopefully will settle a little more :)
-
Hi girls sorry I've been mia its so busy as a family of 6, and I've been down with the flu on top of it all.
Laila is going well full of smiles, she was weighed weds and since birth she has gained 1.5kg she is now 4.3kgs (still a little feather weight though lol) she has reflux but a happy spiller (all the kids have been) just means extra washing for mummy lol.
I'm doing ok still have lochia (but not bleeding?) scar is sore again thanks to the flu (have me a fever last weekend!)
Keen for more sleep. I am not in bed each day til after 3am! Then Iidt get up to the boys I'm lucky to get 3hrs at the most! But lack of sleep and whole newborn stage hasn't affected me its the happiest I've been (and yet I had problems with someone trying to tell me I'm depressed which caused a bit of anger not from just me!) everyone was like what the?! I think they couldn't help but stick their nose in supposedly your depressed if you have a daytime nap (seriously this person had kids yet they have no clue!)
Anyway I thought I would sneak on quickly and say hi! I hope all you mummy's and bubs and going well too, I am going to spend time with my family this weekend before they go off on their holiday over east. Kids will miss their grandparents for those couple of weeks!
-
Ashie - I hope you can get some more sleep soon.
Blue - Thanks. I hadn't heard of using coconut oil on scars before. Might have to get some.
Peace - I usually express after the last feed of the day when Milla will (hopefully) have a longer sleep. Though lately I'm too tired to bother.
Mini - Thinking of you. DD1 had to have one op when she was 2 which was just getting grommets put in & I was a nervous wreck. I can't imagine having to go through so many. :-(
I think my infection is nearly gone but it still doesn't look right so I don't know whether to go back to my GP. :-\
Milla is suddenly feeding for only a very very short time each feed, so wants to feed much more often & isn't sleeping much either.
-
Thanks blue. I've picked a time in the morning to pump when dp is home and I pumped at 1am this morning because I had two massive boobs after Henry had a 5.5hr sleep!!!! Best sleep I've had since before I was even pregnant! Anyway he took a bottle of ebm this morning which is exciting! There's an event next month I'd love to go to with dp so maybe I can leave Henry with my mum for a couple of hours :)
Gosh ashie I must be depressed too. Day naps are my favourite!
-
Moi I hope you are feeling better and your dd is feeding has improved again.
Peace yay for Henry sleeping well! I've had alot of sleep over this weekend dh has been home and gosh it's been good to sleep! He did look after all four kids and he was like little miss wanted extra snuggles wasnt allowed to leave his arms and boys were punching up lol. I was like yep that's my day sweetie. He has also seen that miss likes being awake all night but have found out she loves being wrapped and to be put in her cot awake she'll nod off within minutes! Stroking her hair, nose or eye brows will send her to sleep quicker too.
By far she has been the easiest bub no where as restless as the boys (and I thought they were easy going!)
Dh is also happy I finally been happy to dtd and wasn't incomfortable at all (which I'm glad I waited!)
No signs of an af yet, ob thinks I have tail end of lochia (which is better than what I'm used too with whole bleeding issue) he and I hope that things are sorting themselves out.
-
Hi All.
Wow, lots has been happening since i last was able to jump on.
mini, how did L go yesterday?
Moi, did you go back to the GP? how are you feeling?
Ashie, hmm depressed if you have a nap during the day? then it is every mother I have met. And its not like depression has one indicator. Silly person.
Peace, glad the expressing went well for you.
We've been well but DH decided we needed to sell the house and move closer to my work so i dont have a four hour commute every day (what i had suggested almost a year ago...oh well) and of course he has done nothing to get the house ready. I'm actually getting really peeved about it. All he does is sleep and watch tv while i look after the baby, paint, clean, organise.... I'm tempted to move without him. I'd be doing less work even without "help" with the baby.
Hunter is growing so well. He put on just over a kg from his birth weight in one month. I have tried to give him a bottle of ebm but he just wont take it. I'm very open to advice. i had to try expressing after getting mastitis coz he only eats a small amount at most of his feeds. He has also started sleeping longer at night. I usually get a least one 4.5-5.5 hour stint.
Do you think babies dream? Hunter cries in his sleep and seems distressed until he wakes up. It breaks my heart, coz he cries like he is so scared and in pain - he has never cried that way when he is awake.
-
Hi Miloro, glad your little mans growing big and healthy. Henry does the same in his sleep. He half wakes with a very sad heartbreaking cry. A cuddle and some reassurance gets him back to sleep quickly though. Apparently it's got to do with the REM thing they do in their sleep. They're constantly learning and sending random messages that make them suckle, pull faces, cry etc. So I'm told anyway :) Can't help with how to get him to drink a bottle! Henry did it one day and not the next. Sorry to hear your hubby's not being particularly helpful. Does he work or are you both off at the moment?
Ashie what's the bleeding issue you have had previously? I have constant light bleeding now. It's a joke.
I left my mobile sitting on a feeding chair in a parents room yesterday and someone has pinched it :( so I've lost the last month or so of Henry photos. Shattered!! What's wrong with people? I've disabled it so they won't even be able to use it now it's just wasted. People suck.
