Miloro glad your little man is doing well, little miss too has cries in her sleep usually she'll settle down but sometimes a good cuddle makes her feel better.

Peace that's terrible someone stole your phone! Reminds me to put my photos on the computer tonight just in case. Lately I've been just as bad leaving it about (lack of sleep maybe?)

My bleeding problem is a spot or have a small flow most of the month every month defently see your doctor to rule out any underlying conditions jic also their are meds that can stop it if its hormonal issue (I got given this giant smartie to take which Unfortunatly didn't work for me last time lol)
My doctor day pp bleeding can occur for longer like 3 months but after that usually somethings up then.

I think af is here boo! But hoping it disappears completely I havent had much of a break from spotting/bleeding. Kids gave mummy a sleep in so no nap needed today lol. Little miss still keeping us in awe last night I put her in the cot she was watching her daddy sleeping and was smiling at him! Certainly a daddy's girl!

Hi ladies... This might be quick because my little man is unsettled today. His op went well on Monday and we were able to go home that night. I've just been giving him regular panadol, so I think he must be due some. We also got news that he still had mild hydro nephroses so that means that we can stop the antibiotic and have a scan for his kidneys in a few months. We just need to watch he doesn't get any utis. He also had his hip scan last Friday and has mild abnormalities. Got to go...

I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself.

My daughter Ella was born on 31st August. She was very determined to be punctual, waiting until her due date to arrive despite my waters breaking 59 hours earlier!

We're breastfeeding, which is going great now after a rocky start. Came very close to switching to formula as I had cracked nipples and mastitis at the end of the first week, and just couldn't take the pain anymore. Took a break from BFing and expressed for more than a week. Ella has been back on the boob for nearly two weeks now and is gaining weight like a champ.

Welcome and congratulations on your daughter. I'm Melissa and I have 3 girls and a boy, Lachlan who was born on the 14th. He was a breech birth, he's had 2 operations for inguinal hernias, has some hip issues and kidney issues. Is formula fed and has reflux. That's it in a nut shell!


I've just started exercising again. Is like to lose up to 20 kgs. I'm on my exercise bike and just doing squats, lunges and whatever else I can do in my kitchen! I'm so unfit.

Sorry to hear about your little boy's issues, what a lot for such a little man to go through!

And what is it with babies and digestive issues??! It must be some sort of built in design flaw ;)
Ella doesn't have reflux but seems to be in so much pain every time she does a poo. And her little (or not so little) baby farts are so funny!

It's the one thing no one told me and that has surprised me most about being a mum - how absolutely hilarious babies are! My husband and I are forever cracking up at her.

Mini great that your little boys op went well. Fingers crossed for no uti's. I think they're pretty rare in boys? I hope so. Good on you for getting active again! I get motivated and go for one walk and then skip it the next few days and have to start over again...

Hi Emilykate and welcome. Far out, you weren't labouring that whole time were you? I'm glad your bfing journey is improving for you. I love it but consider switching at least once a week when I reach my limit lol. Haven't yet though!!

I'm sick :( nauseas, heaving, light headed and zero energy. It's like ms all over again and it's got dp freaking out that we'll be giving Henry a sibling way ahead of schedule! I think he's way off and it's something else because I've barely stopped bleeding so I doubt it's possible. Off to the doc in the morning.
On the upside Henry loves a sick mummy. He gets to snuggle in bed with the booby all day! Perfect!

Odd question but how are your boobs? I only ask because mastitis can have flu-like symptoms...when I had it I was throwing up and exhausted and had chills etc.

As for the long labour...well I guess it depends who you ask! I would say yes, but the hospital records disagree... :rolleyes: My contractions started within hours of my waters breaking, and at the end of the first day they were strong enough that I couldn't possibly sleep or even lie down...but they were coming at irregular intervals and far apart, anywhere between 6 and 20 minutes, so not considered labour...I was thinking, if this isn't labour, how awful is real labour going to be?! :o

I asked to be admitted anyway after labouring (or not?!) at home with a TENS and a Swiss ball for a couple of days, because the pain was getting to the point where I *really* wanted to use the gas. Contractions were still averaging around ten minutes apart though. They did an exam and were shocked that I was 8cm - I cried with relief, they had given me the impression that I probably wasn't dilating at all! They put me on the oxytocin drip though to augment my labour, as apparently "it's impossible to push a baby out with contractions coming ten minutes apart". Didn't bring them any closer together though, just made them crazy painful. I was only on the drip for an hour when I ran into the bathroom because I felt this urgent need to get something 'out' of me...IYKWIM...and before I knew it was squatting against the sink and could feel the baby's head coming. She was in my arms 18 minutes later, I birthed her in only three contractions - still coming nearly ten minutes apart! So apparently it's possible after all?! Quite funny really, but according to their strict criteria, I wasn't actually in labour when I gave birth!! :rofl:

You can probably tell lol but I'm a bit miffed about being put on the oxytocin. I had been determined to do things as naturally as possible, and I know she would have come eventually on her own. And maybe not have been born so very fast, I tore quite badly unfortunately.

Sorry I have been missing in action - I bet some of you thought I must have fallen off the face of the earth - no just been very very busy. I have just read all your posts and want to give hugs to those that need them and am amazed at how quickly these bubbas are growing.

We have had a really rough start with DS - you may remember he was quite jaundice and required a readmission for phototherapy. At the same time of the admission he was finally diagnosed as having a tongue tie but the hospital staff wouldn't snip it as the medical staff said it wasn't affecting feeding despite him not pooing properly (basically not at all). I organised to see a lactation consultant who specialises in tongue tie and her husband is a GP who does the snip then and there. He fed like a trooper after that and it was pain free!! Well I am pleased to say that the jaundice resolved itself around 5-6 weeks so that was great. However, shortly after that hospital admission he developed a really bad nappy rash (so around 2 weeks old) which I could not resolve no matter what cream I used - I tried them all barrier creams, zinc creams, steroid creams, antifungal creams, antifungal creams with a steroid - we tried nappy free time, cleaning with only water - you named it we tried it. I ended up taking him to the GP at 5 weeks as it had been there for 3 weeks despite my absolute best efforts and she took swabs and it turns out it was a staph infection. We, of course, got the results via phone from my GP whilst I was in QLD for my sisters wedding so I had to take him to the hospital to be seen by the paediatrician who prescribed antibioitic. Getting him to take 1.8ml of that was not fun. We celebrated my sisters wedding and drove back to NSW but the rash was still there but it hadn't spread any further (thanks to the antiobiotic) and it wasn't as angry as I found a cream in QLD (zinc & castor oil cream) that really helped it but it wasn't going completely. I ended up taking him back to my GP just before 8 weeks old and she referred us to a paediatric dermatologist and organised for us to see him the next day. He said it was an errosive nappy rash and advised us to use a powder which I call the miracle powder as it cleared the last of the sores up within 48 hours. It was great! the next day he slept more than he ever had in his life (as each time he would wee or poo he would wake when it touched the sores) and then that afternoon he had no colour and hadn't been feeding very well as he was so congested but had been slightly congested since birth - new things were that he was quite lethargic and had a fever so we took him straight to emergency. With all his history including recently stopping antibiotics they thought he may have had an infection that had been 'treated' or masked by that recent antibiotic and was now sepsis. We were rushed down to the resus area where he had a lot of tests including a urine sample being taken (it was heartbreaking to watch the cannula go down the eye of his penis) he also had a lumbar puncture to test his spinal fluid as he was presenting as septic. We were admitted and he was started on IV antibiotics and fluids to rehydrate him. The preliminary tests showed he had an infection but we had to wait for all the tests and cultures to show exactly were the infection was. The next day DS had developed a rattle in his chest and was so mucosy (he was coming out his nose - out his bottom when he had swallowed it) and they were able to diagnose him as having bronchiolitis - so he was started on oxygen and the antibiotics could be stopped. That was last Friday and we got to go home on Wednesday 2 Oct... but were readmitted on Thursday afternoon as he wasn't maintaining his breathing at home.

As I said it has been a very full on 9 weeks and I cant wait to be on the other side of this all.

Yep it was quite therapeutic to get it all out but reading it back I wonder how I am not rocking in the corner right now.

A little update from me...and why is it every time I come on here he screams...lol...
We had Lachlan's newborn clinic appointment yesterday. Essentially it was a check up for all his little issues.
1: His wound is healing from his 2nd operation. He just needs a check up in a moths time.
2: His kidneys are mildly dialated, so we need to watch for it is due to ?maybe urinary reflux or narrowing of the ureters but its just a wait and see until his next u/s in march.
3. His hips have mild abnormalities which will be scanned in 6 weeks again but the paediatrician felt a clunk in his right hip, so he's being referred to the orthopedic physio due to being breech and our strong family history of hip dysplasia.
4. He has reflux....just fun...
Other than that he's developing well. He's gained 1.1kg since birth, bringing him to 4.4kgs. He eats heaps and is smiling a lot and trying to make sounds.
I'm finding it hard some days as he is quite needy, or maybe I have trouble with tolerating all his crying...I don't know, but I'm finding it harder with 4 kids. He doesn't sleep well at night, but I suppose none of mine have. I'm sure it will get better though.

Tk that's awful what a horrible time you've had I hope he gets better soon... My first son had an infection at 12 weeks was awful I cried while they poked and prodded those lumber punches are awful!

Feeling jealous of all your sleeping babies lol I feel like I'm rocking, carrying etc all day and a day nap *sigh what r they again? Lol. lucky my 3yr old loves his brother so much he's ok with it so far only a few times has he said put him down mummy... Have to try to fit in some quality time :) Easton is beautiful though so makes it all ok :)

Miloro was thinking too sometimes my little one cries out and whimpers pulls faces because he has bad wind if I pick him up I can feel bubbles in his belly etc poor thing... But they definitely dream babies have more rem sleep then we do :)

Blue I took the mini pill for 3 days and started spotting so I stopped taking it. The spotting has carried on for like 5 weeks now. But I've had none for a few days so I'm hoping things will balance out themselves.

Little h weighed in at 6.4kg @ 10wks last week! No wonder my backs getting sore. I'm loving our new hug a bub too. We did the groceries with it last week and it was great! Much quicker than navigating a pram and a trolley and he fell asleep by the end of it :) great success!

I thought I got my period a week ago it became very heavy and stayed heavy then just stopped sat evening. Well me being silly dtd and bang heavy flow back took a while to slow down. So unsure if its period or maybe post partum bleeding (I heard bleeding can become heavy after giving birth also heavy because a tubal done)
Going to ring doctors tomorrow and see if my ob will see me to find out what's happening. Just scary and annoying that I'm just not normal again (this never happened with the boys though)
I don't the point of this post exactly maybe just a rant but maybe someone may know what's going on?

Hi all. I've been MIA because Milla doesn't want to sleep anywhere but on me for the last couple of weeks. It's been so exhausting. She feeds & falls asleep on me but the second I put her down, her eyes fling open & she cries. I try putting her down awake & she cries. Eventually very very late at night I can put her in her cot & shell sleep there for a few hours & then I can get some sleep. Or I fall asleep feeding her in bed but then I don't sleep as well. Though compared to things some of you are going through I can't really complain.

I found out that she does have mild hip dysplasia on the left side. She'll have a review in 6 weeks. And I had mastitis.

Mini Henry has really needy days too. The hug a bub is good for this! But mostly he just wants to lay down,have boob all day and sleep snuggled. I get zip done those days. I have no idea what I'd do with other kids to consider too. It must be really challenging.

Moi sounds like your having a rough trot too. Has the mastitis cleared up?

Nothing much new here.. H decided 4.30am was morning time today so I am tired! Can't believe we're coming up to 3 months old...

Moi- hugs, its really hard when they do that. I'm hoping that it passes soon and you get some rest. Sorry to hear of the hip dysplasia. Besides the ultrasound, will they be doing anything else? Lachlan has a orthopedic physio appointment on 22nd of October to see if he needs treatment. Fingers crossed that he doesn't but I have a feeling he will go in a harness...no biggie though.

Ashie- how'd you go at the drs? Sorry I can't help, I have no idea. How's things at home with your brood? I'm finding having 4 kids very busy. Hopefully it gets easier soon.

Hey miloro and anyone else I missed.

Lachlan had his 8 week check. He is now 4.5kgs up from 3.3 at birth. He's also 57cms and was 48at birth...so at least he's getting enough. He's smiling a lot, trying to grunt out some noises and hitting at toys. He rolls right over to his side and has got stuck on his tummy coz he can't work out how to move his arm out. He's still not sleeping great, probably because he has a pretty bad cold. He's tolerating his formula and is a tiny bit more settled in terms of his reflux. I need to go to sleep...night.

Mini - At this stage my paed said he doesn't think he needs to refer Milla to an orthopedist. I guess we'll see what her next scan shows.

Peace - Mastitis gone now thank goodness. But now DD1 & I have colds & I'm hoping Milla doesn't get it.

How is everyone?

We are ok. Little H seems to be changing his eating and sleeping patterns and I'm finding myself getting engorged often. I'm terrified if ending up with mastitis or something from it. He is sleeping well at night which is great. Atleast 3 hr gaps but 4 hours more often. Not during the day though! He has to be on me to sleep during the day or I can put him down in his swing asleep for about 5 minutes tops before he wants me back. I'm trying to remember he's not always going to want to cuddle his mummy all day and make the most of it when I can. Otherwise I'm chucking him in the hug a bub to hang out washing and what not. He just doesn't want to be alone.
He still won't have a bottle. I sure hope my boobs keep working cos otherwise we are screwed! We keep trying though.
His necks getting stronger and I can pull him up into a sitting position now with him holding his head strong. He smiles at the baby in he mirror now too. So cute! DPs family still barely see him and then want him to be quite familiar and cuddly with them when they do. They carry on at me that he's a clingy, whingy, sooky baby. He's not. You just don't put any time or effort in with him and he doesn't know who you are!
Also, I read a little something online saying bumbo chairs aren't great for their spines because it puts them into a position before they are suitably developed to be in it? Never heard that before, does anyone know anything about that? I was thinking about buying one soon because he'll be 4 months before we know it but now I'm not so sure.

Thanks Peace, I have been a bit flat. I think all the small things rolled up into big things and it just got me down. Well Lachlan commenced losec for his reflux and I tell you what, he is so much happier. Its been a week where he's not screaming after his feeds, he's sleeping better during the day and night, he's happy to be on the floor playing and doesn't need holding constantly. He smiles, he's trying to laugh, he's so much more pleasant. I'm getting more sleep and getting a routine which I thrive on. He has quite a few more appointments in the next few weeks but then that's it until next years check ups...fingers crossed. The orthopaed was happy with his hips yesterday so that's one thing less.
He's gaining weight at good speed, up to 4.8kgs. I'm starting to feel great, I'm exercising and loosing weight. Dh gets the snip on Friday... Yay. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter of our lives.

Peace..not sure about bumbos...sorry to hear about your dhs family. I've got similar issues but after having my kids and my family being involve, you just have to remember that its their loss. Your children are great, they are beautiful human beings and if they can't get past whatever is up their back sides, then they miss out on it all. Trying not to listen to their comments is something that takes time. I just smile and nod. Hope he takes the bottle soon and stops sleeping on you all day. Thank goodness for carriers hey:-)

Hi everyone, how are you all?
We are ok. Have some difficult days but a good sleep and some support get us through. Little H is sleeping really well at night time still and only waking once or twice for a boobie. We are still cosleeping but thinking about trying him in his cot soonish because he's getting really close to rolling over. He only needs to figure out how to move that arm!
We have bought a new car which I'm really enjoying - an xtrail. We are going away at Xmas and needed more space.
Little H is still bf and eats really well. I feel quite blessed to have made it this far without any major dramas. Except the very beginning when he couldn't suck of corse. I enjoy it but if would love to lose some weight and I'm worried about dieting while bfing. I would hate to muck with it just to lose a few kg.
H is over 7kg now and changing so quickly. We were watching a video of him as a newborn the other day and it's crazy how different he is! Can't wait for our first Xmas as a little family this year :)

Hi mums and bubs :) how is everyone? Sorry I've been missing life was abit hectic for abit! Had a crazy time a few weeks ago with all the fires so close was all abit scary and my parents and brother stayed the week with us as they were evacuated..... I've had clients who have lost their homes and friends whose houses are the only ones standing for 2 or 3 on either side.... Just so devastating!

Anyway Easton is going well growing so fast I have to remind myself to take more pictures can't believe he was 14 weeks today crazy! We r still hit n miss with sleeping but coping ok except for those 20 min wonder days which r exhausting and feel sad for mr 3 as I barely have time to feed him lol but he's coping and loving being a big brother.

Peace did you find out about the bumbo at all? I thought they were ok so U've got me wondering now as I was thinking of getting one just for somewhere different for Easton to sit then he can have a chat to me while I make dinner etc :)

Blue I decided not to use one after reading a blog written by a pediatric physical therapist about them interfering with natural development. Worth a look if your curious. It's just another one of those things for each parent to make their own decision about.

Hey everyone, I guess you are all busy just like me. We've had gastro 2 weekends in a row. I'm praying for some light with all these health issues that keep knocking on the door. Its been the girls mainly, I suppose from being at school/daycare. I'm just over cleaning up chuck!

Lachlan's doing well. He's now 14 weeks and is 5.7kg and 62cms. He hates tummy time and is crap at lifting his head, but he can almost roll from back to front. He loves his fists, he smiles and giggles and talks a lot. He is so much better on reflux meds, I'm so glad we went and got something for him. He's sleeping g better, only up for a feed once or twice a night, as opposed to every hour.

All his medical appointments are done for the the year, just has some for his kidneys, hips and a pediatrician one next year. Its been busy with all his going one, but I'm thankful he is well and growing and hopefully nothing else will happen. We were going to get him circumsised but we decided against it. The only reason we were going to do it was to be the same as dh, but we figured he was born with it, it works, its not broken and it doesn't need fixing so we are leaving it. Plus he's been through so much already, we didn't want to inflict pain on him with it wasn't needed. If he wants it do e later in life, then its his choice, plus most of the kids his age won't be done... Anyway I guess you get my reasoning! I had a funny look from my mum though. I was changing his nappy and I made a joke about how long it was and she said...oh it will be smaller when you cut the skin off....I told her that he wasn't getting done and she was a bit shocked (as my 6 brothers are all done) but left it at that. Now to see the mils reaction...she's the one who rang dh after he was born to encourage him to get it done as its "cleaner". Bugger off!
Dh had a vasectamy too....that went well. Just waiting for the tests to get the all clear.

Hey mini, lovely to hear lachlans feeling and growing well and that reflux is under control for you both. I get your reasoning on the circumcision thing.

Little H is 4 months as of Sunday which seems nuts! He is 7.15kg and 62cm long. He's close to getting all the way rolling from back to front too and cannot get enough of his hands. He is pretty amazed by his feet too. Starting to find us a bit funny and trying to chuckle when we tickle him. He has had a couple of massive night time sleeps - 6.5 hrs on Friday night and 8 hrs on Sunday night! Wondering if that's going to stick... He's still exclusively on the boobie so I hadn't expected decent sleeps. I still wake every few hours though lol
He loves the bath, grabs his duckies and tries to eat them. Like everything he gets his hands on!
Things with DP suck ATM but this little man is just too gorgeous and he keeps me smiling.
I started on healthy mummy smoothies for lunch yesterday too. They are like meal replacements for breast feeding mummies. Hoping to lose a few kgs before heading up the coast with my fam over New Years. Fingers crossed!

Has anyone done 4month immunisations yet? Poor H is having a reaction to them I think :( he spent all afternoon whinging and not wanting anything. Fell asleep in the shower with me, screamed when we had to get out. I gave him some Panadol but he seemed to dribble it all out :( he's having booby now but do I need to watch him more closely overnight while he sleeps?

How long can I expect him to be reacting to the vacs? He's still not himself. He had them Thursday afternoon and we ended up giving him Panadol to sleep. Friday he was ok but very clingy to me and didn't want anyone else. Today he has been unhappy since 4am. I gave him Panadol again before midday and he's gone to sleep. His temp was 36.6 which I think is ok but he seemed to be hurting :( I just don't understand what's happening to him he's usually a happy boy. Is it normal for the vacs to still be affecting him?

That's not good. From my experience they can take a few days to be back to themselves if it has any effects. Give him regular panadol and make sure you keep it up. If he's still not himself go get him checked out. He's also due for a wonder week too. He's about 18\19 weeks? Lots of cuddles and boobie juice x

Well, I'm not sure what to do. L hasn't ever taken to the boob. He's always licking there lately and today I put him on and he actually sucked properly. I have milk still and could hear him swallow and then he fell asleep. It was kind of nice. I'd have to build up my supply though. I'll try him again and see.

Mini that's great! How exciting that he might go back to the boobie. Clever boy. I hope he has another go for you both. Amazing how long the milk hangs around isn't it.

Henry has pooped 6 times today. His normal is 2/3/4 a day. Maybe he's had a sore tummy? I hope tomorrow's better for him and for us!

Its pretty exciting and I'm happy to say dh is all for it. I'll just offer it to him and see how he goes, no stress if he doesn't but great if he does. My milk stays for ages after. I stopped lactating when dd3 turned 2 and I only expressed for 8 weeks.

Hope you're little mans ok. Its hard when they aren't themselves and you have no idea what's wrong. Keep us posted x

Sorry it's been ages since I checked in. Life gets crazy hey? How is everyone going?
AFM, Hunter is going really well, he is such a happy little boy and I am just besotted with him. Four months on Sunday. Sadly I am back at work already. H came with me the first week back and he starts daycare in the new year - 3 days and I work from home two days. One day he is in daycare in the city, near work, so I will pop in to feed him during the day and probably bring him into the office by mid afternoon.
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas planned.
