minivini: sounds o.k to me. i also have fast milk supply and Hunter only feeds 20 mins now and usually will only have one side. and he is sleeping 4 hours between feeds during night. a bit closer dring the day.
sometimes i have to express as i have so much milk
and he chokes cause it comes out so fast then he vomits.... oh the joys,..... lol
welcome and good luck to you
Hi girls - hope ur little ones are doing well.
Slater is still wonderful. He has started having more awake times during the day - which at first hubby and I didn't realise and thought something was wrong when we kept putting him to sleep after every feed and he would cry - but nope, just wanted to hang out mum and dad. It's nice when he is awake .. Except when mum wants a nap and he doesn't want a bar of it! He is still going back to sleep Duroc the night tho so hopefully he keeps that up!
I'm still expressing once a day trying to build supply but my boobs definately don't seem as full and painful during the day as they did last week... Is this normal? I'm a little worried he isn't getting enough milk at each feed. He is still seeing and pooing with the same gusto lol prob 6-8 a day.
Mini - it's about this time that your milk starts to settle down and work it's self out, so not feeling as full or engorged is totally normal and by the sounds of all slaters wet and dirty nappies your supply is fine :)
Thanks raffy - it's just all very confusing knowing if things are going as it should or not.
It really helPs having u girls to ask for advice. I'm only the second of our friends to have a bub and my other friend didn't breastfeed so I cant ask her for advice with this stuff.
mini: my milk settled very early this time and i was worried but i still have heaps and Hunter gained 800g in 4 weeks !! so he must be getting a good supply. keep up the good work
afm: Hunter has been pretty good and is sleeping well at night. he usually goes 5 hrs for first feed , then 3 for 2nd feed or sometimes 2 like last night. but it isn't taking me 1 hr to feed and change him now and during the night he usually only has one side and will NOT have any more.
he burps pretty well and goes right back to sleep
he has a wake time in the morn about 8 am and also in the evening at about 6 pm. about 45 mins to 1 hr each time.... sleeps most of the time...
hope you all well chat soon
Is it wierd that slater is already having wake time? He is noteven two weeks old and has atleast 1-2hrs of awake time in the morning at around 9ish and sometimes in the arvo? He is pretty much a happy bub when awake just lying around where mum and dad are watching tv but does it seem early for that?
Hi girls - I think slater might have thrush. He has a white coating on his tounge and the other day had bits of white in his mouth. He has also started to get a nappy rash too. I've started putting cream on his bottom and went and got nilstat this morning. I'm not 100% sure but want to treat it early if it is. He has been a bit fussy on the boob in that he feeds for about 10mins and then pulls off the boob and crys if I try and reattach him. Do u think that is a sign of thrush or do u think he is just full? It just seems really quick for a feed?
I expressed this morning and he drank 40mls in bout 20mins so I'm worried he isn't getting enough in the 10mins he is feedin on the boob...
Err where is the bub manual when u need it?
minivivi: take him to the chemist or doc and ask them for advice as i have never had a baby with this ? good luck
AFM: well i have an infected wisdom tooth !!! and on antibiotics as of today to bring down the swelling !!! i have been in so much pain !! so thats a bummer
as for baby..
Hunter has been good but wanted to feed more often last night every 2 to 3 hours !! i wonder if he knew i wasn't well ??
he is getting so so chuby and i will be booking in his 6 week check up for friday !! wow thats gone fast .
good luck ladies and hope your babies are being good.
thanks JBM i took him down to the chemist on saturday and have given him a couple of doses of nilstat. seems to be more settled feeding. the pharmacist wasnt sure if it was thrush or not as it was hard to see on his tounge.. he doesnt really follow 'stick your tounge out' instructions very well lol. but she said it wouldnt hurt so i got it to be on the safe side. wanted to treat it before it got to my nipples and then you just pass it back and forth.
ill be going into work on wednesday so will be weighing slater then. i think he is going to have put on a far bit of weight as he eats quite well. and last night he had a six hour gap in between feeds! slept from 830pm till 230am. scared the hell out of me when i woke up and realised how long it had been.. and wow were my BB sore! dont think they could have gone any longer!
hey girls. well the six hour gap didnt last long at night lol. he had a 5.5hr gap from 6 till 11ish which was a waste since i could take full advantage of that sleep! lol and then three hourly till we woke in the morning for the day.
he got weighed today and as i thought he is a greedy guts. he weighed 3.35kg at birth and today at 18 days old now weighs 4.1kg!! the pead wasnt concerned though since he is quite long and still skinny and still only feeding 7 times a day.. he is just obviously a greedy guts when he does eat!
are any of you mum's returning back to paid work at all after this bub? i am due to go back to work in june when little man is six months old. think it will be a little hard at the start but it is only three days so hopefully not too hard!
well better go eat before little man wakes - hope you are all diong well and your bubs are growing big and strong
Mini - that's an awesome weight gain!! Nice work  You sound like you're doing a great job hon. I hope the possible thrush cleared up as that is nasty if it gets inti your boobs.
JBM - sorry to hear about your wisdom tooth, that sucks! Hope you're feeling better soon and Hunter is being kind to you
Well life with two kids is somewhat crazy, hence the lack of posts from me. We are having breastfeeding issues too so I'm currently expressing full-time which is terribly time consuming.
I've been seeing my LC since NYE and have also seen a GP who specialises in boob/breastfeeding issues. Basically my boobs aren't behaving, lol! Chloe did have a mild posterior tongue tie which was snipped last week, but otherwise she's a great feeder. My supply is great but I've had a nasty staph infection in both breasts (which the GP suspects is back) and I'm now on my fourth lot of ABs since NYE. I have vasospasm, which I had with DD1, so I'm on a new type of nifedipine (meds) to hopefully sort it out. I also have to apply a steroid cream to my nipples, an intense moisturiser to my areola and pump 24/7 until my boobs have healed enough to introduce BF again. It's been stressful and hard work but I have faith that we'll get there.
Chloe is doing really well but was unsettled all day so she's either going through the first wonder week or her reflux is getting worse. I actually think both are to blame. I wouldn't be surprised if she's medicated for reflux by her paed at her 6 week check next week.
Chloe hit 4kg around the 4-5 week mark. She's so much bigger than her sister and is quickly outgrowing clothes that DD1 didn't wear until 8ish weeks!
Chloe is doing well with sleeps (bar today, lol!). She usually does a big stretch of 5-6.5 hours when she first goes down around 7.30pm. Then she generally does 3-4 hour stints the rest of the night and day. I can't complain, she's finding her groove quite quickly.
I'm pumping again but nearly falling asleep so I'd better get back to bed. I hope to be able to write more soon.
xx
I've just posted my birth story https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...y-long-176510/
Now that it's out of the way, I might have some more time to post in here!
Hi ladies
Taurean - sorry to hear of all the BF problems your having! If it's so natural why is it never so easy huh? I to am expressing full time, Daylen started out awesome, then he stopped latching, so we used shields which worked well and then he'd refuse the shield as well, even though EBFing is extremely time consuming and inconvenient I actually prefer it, means he's getting all the goodness but I don't have to flop my boobs out.
AFM - Daylen is good, not great, but good. He sleeps well so can't complain there but when he's awake he's never happy :( he cries all the time and I have no idea why! He's very clingy which makes spending time with ds1 very difficult and even more heartbreaking that ds1 has turned into a huge mummas boy and yet I'm baby bound! Lucky daylens cute, I swear haha. Got a good wrap on the way so I'm hoping that solves our problems :)
Hi girls.
Taur and raffy - congrats on the ebf! It is such a lot of work I express maybe once a day just to make sure my supply keeps increasing and I can't imagine having to do that all day every tome slater would need a feed! I am so impressed!
Slater still feeding well and growing well. He is awake for a while in the mornings but now I put him down for a nap - I think I was keeping him up to long atthe start - think he would just fall asleep when he needed to but I think us playing with him was keeping him awake.
He is still waking during the night doing the 4-5hrly sleep and then 3hrly for the last two in the night. I'm starting to wonder if he needs the feed cuz he tends to eat for like 10mins and stop. Would u ever not feed at this age and just try to put them back to sleep? I think I'm just feeding cuz it's quicker to settle him off to sleep that way then patting him to sleep again. If he no longer needs the feed will he just stop waking during the night?
Hi mini :hello: slater sounds like he's going great guns :) I'm demand feeding so I feed whenever he wants it, he sleeps for ages so as soon as he wakes he's usually hungry. This includes during the night, he usually just goes straight back to sleep so I can't complain. I don't think it will matter so much at this age, I plan on just 'winging' it until 12 weeks and then I will start enforcing some sort of routine and depending on how hes sleeping at night that will include his night feeds. Just do whatever works for you and slater, Cooper started sleeping through at 8 weeks, which I assume is when he didn't need the night feed anymore, hoping Daylen does the same but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it
mini: remember that when it is hotter they wanna feed more. Hunter did exact same thing when it got hotter he even sometimes only went 2 hrs for some feeds during night ?... good luck
raffy: i am also demand feeding, doc says its the best way . remember every baby is different and he prob won't be like his big bro.. but fingers crossed ...good luck to you also
taurean : hi how are you going ?. hope all is well with bub
AFM: well my little boy is getting bigger. has gained 2 kg in 6 weeks since born. and grown 7 cm !! he is so cute and chubby.. i have got the creamy milk and heaps of it !!!. leaked thru breast pads and top last night !! got lots supply !!!
tooth pain still hurting !!! getting one of wisdom tooth out this week then gotta have op on other one thats the problem one soon ....
not nice

AFM:
hi girls
still going well here. Slater is just a beautiful baby boy - i love spending time with him and can just stare at him for hours.
He is still growing well and feeding really well. He is feeding pretty much 7 times a day and still pooping like a trouper lol. we have pretty much a dirty nappy every feed still. I got on the scales with him today and if they are right he is now 5kg! i cant beleive how quickly he is gaining weight and i am a little worried he is getting too much food, but i cant see how he can be with only have 7 feeds in 24 hours and they are at the most 30mins (that is 20mins on one side and maybe 10 on the other)! he doesnt look liek he is a porky just yet.. definately looks a lot more plumper than when he was born but he was a skinny mini at birth. I have his 6wk check next week so will check with the pead then but he obviously just lieks his milk!
We had a family/newborn photo shoot the other day - found a place near us that do a free photo session with no obligation, so we went and had some pics done and also got a couple of our little family. He was a bit grumbly on the day but she said she got some good pics anyways so i am looking forward to seeing those. Even if we just get one of Slater and one of us three then we will only have to spend $100 so i think it was definately worth it.
cant beleive he is over a month old already. I went out yesterday quickly to get a shelf for his room and thought how weird it was to be leaving the house with him. Feels weird only after a month not having him with me!
well hope you girls are doing well and all your little bubs are happy and healthy. I will be off to get ready for bed and get a few hours of sleep before the little man wakes up.
