Oh and my Miss Molly is 4 weeks old tonight Lucky she still seems so small, will have to weigh her soon and burst my bubble that she isnt really growing!
Happy Birthday Miss Molly!!! I know what you mean about not wanting them to grow. DH keeps telling me that it is good that he is growing so much in case he gets sick and needs something to fall back on (DS2 at 3 months still haunts us!) but being my last..... I want him little for longer! I know you know exactly how I feel

So, for girls who co-sleep: How do you do it??? Do you get rid of pillows and doona's and stuff? Does bubs sleep between you and the wall or in between you and DH? With naps DH and I are both on top of the doona and SB is lying on the doona in between us, but at night we need blankets!

HI Kit: I have two pillows under my head or one big fat one. I also have a pillow under my right shoulder and arm, then the baby is wrapped normally and lays in the crook of my arm, i am slightly turned on my right side and i stick a pillow under my left hip so im comfy on my side. I sleep on the side of the bed that means that the baby is on the out side not in the middle if you get what i mean. This way DH has whatever pillows he needs and i can pull the sheet/blanket up over my legs and hips from the middle, when its cold i put a top on so my shoulders dont get cold. This is hard to explain....i could get DH to take a photo if that would help, hehe. I also do it this way so when older kids are in bed with us too i know they cant get to the baby.

Miz: Remember we all agreed to come into this thread to stay together. The december girls were lovely but its so nice to already know everyone here. I told Csab to come on over too!!!

AFM: Another good night, day started a little early at 4.48am but that was Miss mollys fault, i had almost gotten DS back to sleep and she decided she needed a feed too.. ahhh well I was in bed at 8.30 so feel good!

Tegam, that's a pretty good sleep! DS2 had another great sleep, didn't wake up until 7:30 - woohoo!

We're off to the shops today. All five of us. DS1 needs new shoes for school and the two older boys need haircuts. We have to go to two different shopping centres so we might do one job today and one tomorrow. First of all I have to figure out how to re-arrange the pram so Joshy can go in it with one of the older boys rather than have it set up for two toddlers.

Mitzie - how long since you stopped bleeding the first time? Could it be your first period? All the experienced mummies, what is the go with that and bf? Did you stop having periods while you were exclusively bfing? And did you use contraception right away, or consider yourself safe while bfing?

Tegam - she probably just looks little in comparison with the other kids! I always think of David as getting quite big, but next to the nieces and nephews he looks small again

Had a lovely, lovely Australia Day - David obliged with a 2-hour nap in the morning, happy chappy through til lunch, then a feed and another nap for nearly 3 hours at my brother's place (while we had a bbq, then waterfights in the backyard and twister in the house). Went down well for another good night - last feed at 7, then asleep until 1am, another feed at 3:30, then awake at 6:30 for the day. Morning feed, and has gone down again now too. Even though I'm getting up twice each night, he doesn't feed for long (30mins including burping and nappy change) and goes straight back to sleep. I've made a habit of going to bed by 9-9:30, so I end up getting 7ish hours sleep each night. Decided not to dreamfeed at this stage - have tried it on 2 different occasions, but he was so sleepy that he didn't take in much, and still woke up 2 more times in the night, so it really defeated the purpose for me. Might try again when he's older and sleeping longer at night.
Today I'm leaving him at mum's for his arvo sleep and going to a scrapbooking shop to spend heaps of money - ready to start his album

Tegam- this is like a period but i thought BFing stopped them i know everyones different but i thought i would be a lucky one and not get them
Im so proud of my bfing this time, ive done really well even after wanting to give up

about 2-3wks ago Kaidyn weighed 2.6kgs now just on monday he weighed in at 3.5kgs go my little man, he is now the size Zak was when he was born

Kit- i co-sleep with Kaidyn sometimes and i always put him on the outside of me so DF doesnt squash him and i wrap my arm around him so he cant fall off

Jen- i think it is a period and obviously everybody is different ive been excliseivly bfing and still got a period, i dont have contraception as it reacts with my body in a way i dont like so we are using condoms ...How David feeds through the night is Kaidyn too doesnt eat for very long at all and is asleep again

Oh does anyone elses bub not like the heat?? i think Kaidyn hates it

Phew, it's hot here again today!

Kel, I saw it was going to be 42 out your way! Stay in the air con!!!

Tegam, I probably will use the HAB and put the two bigger boys in the pram more often than not. I had DH with me today though and we wanted to try the newborn/toddler combo on the pram.
Yay for Miss Molly's weight gain!

Miz, I haven't stopped bleeding yet. I usually bleed for 5 weeks and 5 days, I have no reason to think this time will be any different. Sounds like you might have your period though.

Jen, I don't ovulate and/or get my period until I completely stop breastfeeding. BUT, having said that, we will be taking no chances and will use condoms as soon as we start DTD again. I'm extremely fertile when not bfing and don't want to risk a surprise baby #4. With DS1 and DS2, I stopped bfing them and was pregnant a month later!!!! With DS2 I cut him off sooner than I wanted because I wanted to have #3 close to the others and it was the only way On the upside, I have only had two periods in the past four and a half years! I guess it's compensation for my extended lochia.

Us; We survived the shoe shopping expedition. It was musical chairs with the boys and the pram though, I think we tried just about every combination! Josh is such a cruisey baby! If he was a first baby, you'd want a million of him. Having had DS2 though, I know they aren't all that good

Oh does anyone elses bub not like the heat?? i think Kaidyn hates it
Summah is a lot more sleepy in the heat, tends to wake for a feed and straight back to sleep. mind u our last really hot day like 35 or over was around new years so a lot has changed since then, we are supposed to hit 34 on sunday so ill see how she manages that and let u know...

Has anyone else started bleeding again?? i started bleeding again the other day

OMG im still BFing almost 6wks later woohoo
    not yet....
ive still be spotting on and off. mind u im about 4 days "spot" free sorry TMI so im hoping thats the end of it.

    great work on the BF!!

    everyone!!!

im a bit lost, feels like ive missed heaps but i havnt there just isnt much for me to comment on that i can relate to or help with, which should make for a shorter post than usual from me!

all is good here, nothing to exciting to report.
am off to the OB in a hr or so for my 6week check up so that will be fun!
have a few things i need to talk to him about so it could be a long appt! poor guy will want to retire once i leave the office....

summah is doing really well, sleeping well still. we got a 10pm-5am stint last night so that was amazing plus i was asleep by 930 so i felt pretty good!

Disgirl ouch ive bled for about 3 weeks with both my boys and Kaidyn is 6wks on sat and i started bleeding the day after he turned 5wks im thinking it is a period but its bright red and my midwife siad to keep an eye on it as i could be heamoraghing (sp?) cause i am known for it OR im hoping not but it could also be that i have an infection in my uterus
Zak was a pretty good baby, Kaidyn is abit more of a screamer, but we are coping pretty good!

Crumpet- i spotted for the whole 3wks really cause when you get given syntocin it plays with your blood loss after bubs it makes you start/stop all the time...You had that to be induced didnt you?? i had it after i had Kaidyn to stop me from heamoraghing again
Goodluck at the OB today, hope he answers all your Questions, i need to book or my 6wk check up and Kaidyns needles

Tegam- your lucky for not getting your periods, i really was hoping BFing all the time i would be a lucky one not to get them im guessing im wrong although it seems a little heavier then a period so we shall wait and see

Well Kaidyn is doing well Bfing im so excited we have lasted 6wks this time and hopefully alot longer to come, my big goal is 6 months
I dont think he likes the heat he screams and screams, i have the aircon on and hes sleeping peacefully (i dont blame him for this heat its terrible)

Other then the bleeding im feeling pretty good, LOVE my 2 days a week just Kaidyn and i when Zaks at daycare!

Goodness I am lost again, I have to get on here more so I stop just doing "Me" post coz too much has happened and said...

Someone asked how to co-sleep, with PK I have one of those in the bed 1st years things, so he is wrapped in a blanket in his "bed " and I have my blanket on me I dont have a DH so dont have to worry about that part...
I slepted with DD2 on a change mat in the bed so I could feel the sides...
I do from about 5am onwards sleep with PK the same way that tegam said as I give this fed while half asleep on my side...

very jelous of all your sleeping babies... PK will go 5 hrs in the day between feeds but night likes boob every 2 hrs or so, he feeds really quick so its not so bad... I think my milk must be a little less or not as filling in the night...

AS for AF, I dont normally get her back until about 3mths after I stop BF so I am hoping not to see her for some time... I am so happy that I am still about to feed PK and feel I still have milk, I fed DS1 really well for 9mths but couldnt feed the girls for very long and felt I had no milk... The health nurse I am seeing is really good, she told me that if I ever think I am running out of milk to go to here ASAP so she can do something to help, as with everything that has been happening she doesnt want me to run out of milk, I think she is hoping it will keep PND away...

I have writen in our FB thread about wanting a catch up so if anyone is up to it once school is back next week let me know, You can all come to my place if you like, it just wont be spotless lol...

Wow, you girls are chatty!! Chattier than my belly buds! I will try to keep up, but if I miss stuff, forgive me!

Kitfaerie, I sleep with just DS and I in the spare bed. DH refuses to sleep with a tiny baby and DS1 needs one of us with him anyway, so DH sleeps with him in our bed, and DD jumps in there some days too. Sadly we haven't slept together alone in our bed for years! But such is life with young children. I sleep with DS2, he is put into his snuggle bed which is in the bed, though he usually ends up next to me after a feed and we have both drifted back to sleep. I have one pillow for my head and one to keep DS in the bed when he's on the side that isn't against the wall. I only have a sheet to cover me at the moment tho rarely use it, but have a single sized blanket if I need it, but it's just sooo hot at the mo! I wrap DS2 in a muslin wrap and have a blanket for him too if he feel cool to touch, tho he's usually fine in his onsie and muslin. I am a very light sleeper and I love co sleeping. I find it such an important way to bond with my babes. Plus I have been lucky that they love it too and my DH is understanding of it too.

Tegam, hope you made it through the day, 5am wake ups suck! Even when you go to bed early! We have been getting fairly good sleeps here too. Caelan will usually feed 4ish hourly all day. It's just up to me to get to bed at a decent hour now! I have to get used to going to bed before 11pm again!
1kg in a month!! Wooohooo! Go Miss Molly and go you! You have some super boobies there mumma! I'm hoping my little man has a good gain too, considering he lost so much after birth.
Gosh thinking of protection already....lol, my stitches and grazes still hurt, I couldn't think of anything worse right now! But for us, DH is getting a vasectomy, and condoms til then. It's his turn now! Really, really don't want an oopsie bub! DH would leave me I think, lol!!

Dis, 7.30 is great! I wish my big ones would sleep til then...we are still 6am early birds here. Thankfully DH has been getting up with them, and DS2 is waking between about 7-9am depending on the day! I'm hoping he likes his sleep and the 9am wake ups stay!
Yep a glorious 42 out here today (not!) and 40+ temps for the next week apparently! Yucko! Luckily it's really rather cool in our house, plus we have the evaporative cooling through out the house and air con in the loungeroom. But outside, you could cook a steak on the footpath!

Misqtie, I can't comment on the bleeding, I'm only up to day 13 so I think I will be going for a while yet (yay...not!). Though with DD and DS I don't think I started bleeding again. But there are so many types of normal when it comes to birth and afterwards. And as for my period, I got mine back at about 3mths with DD and about 5mths with DS1 (who was fully bf, I was looking forwards to not having it for months too, but was disappointed, lol!) But yours sounds like your period to me, though just keep an eye on it, unfortunately I know the stress of haemorraging after birth, I have done so to some extent with all of my bubs, angels included. With my first angel, I ended up haemmoraging very badly almost 4 weeks after giving birth. Very scary when you're young and have no idea what's going on!
And 6wks bfing!! Woooooohoooo, well done!!!! It is not as easy as many people think it is!

Jen10, wow, 30mins for a full feed! My little man is taking up to an hour for feeds. I think I have a slow flow and let down, DS1 used totake ages to feed too, even when he was bigger. Or they just love being attached to me, lol!

New Dawn, I hope PK turns his sleeping around and you get the 5hr blocks at night!! Have you tried maybe waking him 3hrly in the day to feed, and then maybe he won't want so much at night?? DS2 had his sleep around the worng way for a few days and it sucks! I know the feeling of slepless nights and 2hrly feeds, DD and DS1 were both like that for a long time.
Your health nurse sounds great! It's wonderful she sounds so helpful. All of the ones I have seen with my kids have been little more than useless. With DS1 I think I stopped going at about 5ish mths. It was useless except for the weigh ins! After that I just weighed him on my own scales at home (not baby scales, but the weights were close enough!) Hopefully this time we get a nice nurse who knows what s/he's on about and hears what I am saying.

AFU, well I think I have been blessed with nipple thrush (yay, not!) and I'm pretty sure DS has it in his mouth too. I had it when I had DD and it is horrible! I will have to get some oral thrush treatment tomorrow. I had thought it was just the way DS was attaching for a while, but today it is stinging like no tomorrow and DS's tongue is abnormally white....all signs unfortunately!
We went to the pools today. We have a gorgeous little public pool here and the big kids had a ball. DS2 was a bit unsettled when we got home because it was soooo hot outside and we didn't go for a swim (he's too little and I'm still bleeding!) but it was lovely to watch DD and DS1 have a ball with their Daddy. And it was our first officialy 'outing'! I really need to get out walking to try to strengthen my muscles. I still feel really weak in my core muscles and my back is still killing me (I had sciatica and SPD through my pgcy). The SPD is still there and I think the sciatica might be too a little. But it is going bit by bit. Still hurts though!!
To those of you with other children (especially two and a half-ish year olds) how are they coping? My DS1 is having a tough time coping with bub. Though not acting out towards Caelan, he says he likes his baby! But thing slike he's being really naughty, not listening, throwing toys, hitting DD, (doing lots of normal 2yr old stuff that he didn't do before!) but also not eating very well, being REALLY difficult to get to bed, waking in hysterics.....he's always been tought to get to sleep and not been a great eater, but he's even worse these past few weeks. Anyone got any tips? I know it's likely all normal and I will jsut have to ride it out, but still, thoguht I'd ask!
Ok this has taken me hours to write out (coming and going and tending to the kids) and reply to everyone! Hope I didn't miss anything!

wow i didnt know that, explains a lot!

    love the new username hun!

AFU, well I think I have been blessed with nipple thrush (yay, not!) and I'm pretty sure DS has it in his mouth too.
oh that sux, Summah has had oral thrush for about 4 weeks on and off, BUT i think we have finally kicked it!! im keeping a close eye on her though just incase it flares up again...

    AFU:
had my check up at the OB and all went well.
mind u i didnt get away without a touchy feel mind u!
had my pap smear done while i was there, would rather my OB do it than my GP, and he checked out all my stitches and they were fine.
he had issues finding my cervix ( who would have thought) and the way it felt i think it was hiding up with my tonsils!

went through a few things with him and the good news is there is no damage done to my cervix and i dont have to wait a certain amount of time in between pregnancies, not that im planning on getting preg again this week but was handy to know!

we will have to follow the same process as this time, progesterone pessaries from 8 weeks till the stitch is in at 14 weeks bed rest on and off take it was easy as possible, all the same stuff as i did with summah.

so overall a good appt really, was kinda sad that i wont see him now unless we have another baby but im pretty sure we will, DH has admitted he is coming round to the idea of another one, he said he is far from totally convinced but is slowly warming to the idea so i figure by around july next year ill have him well and turely talked into it!
