Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Its good to see all the bubs are growing so well... Miss bugs is fitting into 000 nicely. And feeding really well
I have been reading! Have been flat knacker with ajusting to haveing a new-ish born, a toddler & a preppie DH goes back to work next week... Scary and exciteing... Kind of looking forward to settleing in to a rythem with the three kidletts. And getting used to wrangleing. I've ordered another carrier for miss bugs that will hopefully mean i can cook dinner ect with ease - as my sling is good while seated but not so good when trying to cook/clean and my ergo is too bulky.
The other thing is would be me getting back into exersize which will just be a walk around the golf course and block with the dog, with the aim to.get back to running it in the morning and walking it (pushing the pram& carrying gem) in the arvo... But we'll see how it pans out. Plus i'm also going to aim to study for an.hour or two each morning while dh is home - hopefully while a load of washing is done haha

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Lol on the passing bricks! I hear ya !
Well went to mg and I was the only one with more than 1 child....apart from first time mum of twins . It was like they looked at me wondering when I'd had the time to squeeze them all in!
I weighed DS and he is 4970g! So 1.4kg since birth! Just like his big brother. He also just pulled his first all nighter. Put him to bed at 9pm and woke at 4:30am. Back to sleep at 5:30, now both the other kids are awake! Ds1 will be so tired after school today.
We have a house designer coming over this arvo to see if we can draw up a plan for what we want to do to our house in the future. So exciting. I'm bursting to get a new modern kitchen :)
-
Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hearing you on the passing bricks too! Haha.
Yules yay for an all nighter and the awesome weight gain!
How exciting about the house designer, I loved it when we got our new awesome kitchen, with everything I wanted (that would fit, as it's smallish) in it!
Interesting about mothers group, I am going to attend one as well, but it doesn't start for a few weeks. I have the most amazing mothers group I met with DS1, so hope I can have another positive experience. I'm expecting to be the only second time mum.
We are off to playgroup for the first time today, to trial it.
DS1 needs it, so I'm hoping it works out! Feeling a little nervous about it, not sure why!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Yules - not sure if the all nighter or the house designer is more exciting! Doing up our kitchen was my fave part of renovating our house (bathrooms were second!). Awesome weight gain too!
Dansta - I have high hopes of eventually walking to kindy with the boys, but I get puffed from the car to the classroom atm! And it's too hot!
Sahbear - I'm thinking of going back to the playgroup we started at last year, but will see if I can find a mother's group first...the one I have for DS1 is great, but Qld is a bit far, lol! We're all on FB though.
AFM - Bub has surprised me by having two 1.5hr naps in his bassinet the past two days...then slept three hours straight while DS was at kindy. I had to ask a friend to collect him for me, but eventually had to wake DS2! Part of that three hours was in his bassinet too, so I got to rest, prep dinner, do some washing etc Bliss! ;) it's still party time from about 4am here though, but meh....
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Sounds like you've turned a corner, JLeigh. Fx it continues!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Lol, I spoke too soon....15 mins-½ hour naps today. Can't get him to transition to save myself....if he wants to resettle, he does it on his own, but if I want him to, no way! On the plus side, he's pretty easy to get to sleep in the first place (for day naps, nights are 1-1.5hrs settling).
Is anyone doing a dream feed? Does it work for you? Thinking of doing one here but not sure feeding a reflux Bub in his sleep is the wisest idea...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
No dream feeds here just going with the flow. DS slept like a log today even after his megga sleep last night so I'm half expecting tonight to be a nightmare. He's asleep in the swing at the moment in the lounge with us so I'm going to head to bed and let DH have him for a bit. He didn't feed a great deal today because of all the sleeping. He surely can't be having a growth spurt! He's too massive already!
He also started smiling today :) maybe he's exhausted from that
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Yay! Smiles :) and yay for sleep too! :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
I've finally gotten around to writing out dd2's birth story
The link is here if you would like the read it Birth Story Here
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Miss bugs is sleeping fairly well co-sleeping helps.
As for poo's its been a week... Lots of farts and grunts and wiggleing but no doubt she'll do an epic poo while we're out tomorrow!
Its so cute hearing bubs are smileing
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
JLeigh, no dream feeds here (not for any of mine) so I'm no help, sorry.
Smiles are the cutest, but I can't get a photo because she's only smiled at me! Well, once at my Mum, but no camera around. (Haha she just came of bb to give me a big smile then!)
Six week check up with my midwife on Sunday, so we'll see how much she's grown then. She's growing out of her nb nappies faster than DD2 because she has chunkier thighs. She's not very ladylike when the rear end is operating, either. I've had a few poo incidents...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Dansta - A week?! We get five or six a day! Which is less than DS1!
Jen - Took ages to get a smile on camera here. Enjoy your special smiles while you have them :)
Another 2.5hr nap here this morning....yay!
-
Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
DS2 is 5 weeks today and he celebrated by giving us his first proper smiles! Yay!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Yep jleigh a week... She makes up for it... Four nappys in 30mins!
Sarbear - woo! So cute.
Miss bugs is going well having a growth spert feeding every 3hrs and sleeping at night noo idea much over night but when im up at 7am her infant nappy (5-8kg) is very full. And she now has fat dimples on her knees... Scary shes growing soo quick!
Have the 4week check with the mchn this week. Which will be interesting.to see how big she is now.
Plus Vics 3.5yr old check... Which im kinda dreading :/
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Six week visit for us when my m/w visits tomorrow. Bittersweet, means the end of this pg and birthing journey with my m/ws. I'm glad I get to see them regularly through our group get togethers and I'm now friends with my primary IM so we catch up for crafty stuff (knitting get togethers!) too.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
And tonight, everytime he goes down for tummy time, he rolls over. Over and over again. What the?!
Yay for your visit tomorrow Jennifer, so nice that you have a continuing relationship with your primary IM!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Sah - happy 5 week birthday! He sounds like he's had a real party today. :)
Dansta - knee dimples sound cute!
Jen - it's great you've got such a good relationship with your MW's. Must be sad to end your 'official' time with them, but cool you'll still get to see them.
AFM - DS2 had his 6 week check on Thursday. He's 4.04kg, 53cm and has a 39cm head. So, right on track :) The MCHN gave me the depression/anxiety questionnaire to fill out and (shock, horror) it seems I am 'moderately depressed'. She was great and offered lots of support. She's filled out a form to get me some home help, given me a referral for my GP to fill out for counselling/support if I don't feel better in a couple of weeks, given me details of a Mother Nurture group she wants me to go to and will follow up with me in a couple of weeks.
Ob check up was last week too - all good there, but I need to have an US to make sure the cyst I had has gone.
And DS1 had an assessment to do with his anxiety/sensory issues. After 8 months on a waiting list. Now they need to decide which discipline will take him on. Hopefully that won't take too long.
DS1 has his check up on Tuesday and I've booked his immunisations for the week after.
Bub's day naps are very hit and miss at the moment. DH wore him this morning as he refused to settle (cute seeing a big dude wearing a tiny Bub, lol!) He's having a real arsenic hour (or two) in the late arvos too, colicky and upset, but it's just cranky baby stuff rather than the reflux, thank goodness. Waking 2-3 times overnight.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
JLeigh, I love watching DP wear our babies too. He even tried the ring sling with DD3, although he generally sticks to the Ergo. Not surprised you're showing symptoms of depression with the run you're having. Did your Mum get there okay? Has that helped?
Sah - yay for rolling! DD3 has done it once, but she was being cranky at the time so I'm not sure if it was accidental rolling from general flailing about, or on purpose.
I didn't think to get her measured when m/w was here, but little Miss Piggy weighs 4.6 kg clothed, which works out to about 4.35 kg bare (take out the sling and clothing - m/w has hanging scales). So she's put on 1.5 kg since birth (half her original body weight). Her thighs are outgrowing the nb nappies. On the plus side to watching my tiny baby disappear, she's more snuggly!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Holding a squirmy worm atm...
Jen - go bubba! Awesome weight gain :) I'm going to try Bub in his NB ittis again soon - hoping his thighs have chunked up a bit so he'll fit. Gave up on the prefolds when nappy changes were so painful as they don't last as long as sposies and I wanted to minimise the trauma (for both of us, lol!)
Mum arrived safely and has been a big help. Just having her around is great and with all the appointments/car trips I have, having her mind Bub at home rather than scream in the car has been great. We think it's less likely about the pain now and more just that he can't see us. Explains why as soon as I open the door, he's ok. And is ok when we put the capsule on the pram....unfortunately, I don't think there's much we can do about it if that's the case :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Jleigh - you can get a mirror thingy that bounces a reflection of you from your rearview mirror into one mounted at their feet as such
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Awesome weight gain for Miss C, Jen. I do love that they are becoming more snugly.
Jleigh so pleased your mum has arrived for some support. Also pleased you are getting a referral for some extra help. You have had a tough time, it's no wonder you have some symptoms.
All well here, loving this time with my boys! Love watching DS1 with DS2- it's adorable.
(Probably loving this time today even more, both boys are asleep, housework done so I am enjoying cheese and crackers while watching Dr Phil!)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
I got my first smiles today!!!!!!!!
Oh sahbear, both sleeping at once is heaven hey!
Jleigh: hang in there Hun, you're doing a good job and it sounds like he is slowly improving.
Jen: great weight gains!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Yay, little O, how exciting.
Hope everyone is well. Dealing with Mt Wash-more this morning...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Woohoo for smiles!
I'm excited to have a day at home to get dome housework done, haven't had a full day at home for ages, especially with my big boy at pre school. (How sad!)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
House full of snuffaluffaguses
Even miss bugs.
Dj has croup toboot i need tooth picks dh is lucky he can drink energy drinks coffee makes me sleep :/
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Awful dansta - hope you're all illness free soon x
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
:( Dansta. Feel better soon x
Little O - smiles are amazing!
Sahbear - if I had a whole day at home, I would NOT be doing housework!
AFM - had an US (they had to do an internal one as they couldn't find my ovaries. Yay me) to check on that cyst I had. It was gone, and the US place is $200 richer! The ob says I need to make an appt for the results, but I don't really want to fork out yet another $100 to be told what I already know...
Bub is in a bit of pain today :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
The cheek of the ob!! Glad your cysts are gone Jleigh.
How is everyone going? I took DS to mg on tues and weighed him and we're past 5kg! Even in crawler nappies now..... Stop it baby!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Aww Dansta, hope you feel better soon. All of you.
JLeigh - glad the cyst is gone. And that you can read the report yourself and save a trip to the ob. Hope bub is having a better day today. :(
Little O - great weight gain! They are growing too fast, these babies. I've had to put away my tiny NB MCNs. She's fitting into the OSFM ones now, which means she's well over 4 kg and closer to 5. The little cheeks just keep getting chubbier and so do the thigh rolls!
We're off to the southern highlands this afternoon for a weekend away with a whole bunch of friends. Should be fun! It's only two hours in the car, so fx it all goes well. It's DD2 who's likely to be the unhappy traveller, but we'll see.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Jleigh - ergh cheeky ob! Hope the pains gone poor thing
Yules - yay for weigh gain Pooo for crawler nappies already!
Jen- aww getting bigger! Enjoy your weekend away!
Afm: djs on the mend it seems, vic & miss bugs too. Bm up.the nose helps her to sneeze the snot out... Which TMI can be gigantic for such a little snout.
Saw the mchn wednesday. Miss bugs was 4.3kg so near enough to a kg up on birth weight.
Question... Any one elses bubs holding poo? Miss bugs started out as every three then 5 now 7 days heaps of wet nappies with lots of farts i think her next poo maybe a 'strait into the bath' one.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Dansta - glad you're all doing better. I shudder to think what a 7 day poo would be like here. We get 2-3 decent sized ones and 2-3 skid marks a day here ;)
Yules - crawler nappies?! Eek. Stop growing!
Jen - Have a great weekend. We were planning a trip in March, but Bub can't even make it around the corner without screaming tears, and I can't fit in the backseat, so we'll stay home until he's older.
What do you use for cradle cap? Bub's whole head is a flaky, snowstorm! We put olive oil on every night...would coconut oil work?
-
Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi everyone!
Jleigh, I have used a product called egozite (I think, or something similar) from the chemist for ds1 when olive oil didn't work.
Hope you had a great getaway Jen?!
Sounds like all the bubs are growing nicely.
We had a paed review today - a couple of day short of 7 weeks and DS2 was just under 3.9kg fully clothed so he is gaining steadily.
He's quite congested at the moment, and struggling keeping much milk down so we they suggested we try and feed a bit more frequently.
We also need to try and increase his awake time, which is hard - put him down to have some tummy time and he went to sleep! Haha!
We also haven't been discharged from him :( he wants to keep his eye on a couple of things, so a further review in 10weeks.
I am thankful for the last couple of nights, where he has had an 8 hour block of sleep fed and gone back down - as DS1 was a handful yesterday and in hospital earlier in the week.
How is everyone else? Especially LittleO and Jennifer who aren't in the FB group?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi girls!
Sahbear - is DS1 okay? Sounds like the littlest man is getting there in his own time. ;)
JLeigh - how's the cradle cap? No idea what to do here as I've only dealt with small flaky spots.
We had a very nice weekend in the southern highlands. DD1 ran wild with about a dozen other kids (stayed with a bunch of families in a huge 90 yr old house). The littlies did well with the change. It was nice to get out and do something different. And no washing for two days!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
We are pretty good here. Naps are still short (haven't had anything over an hour for two weeks), and 2-7pm (give or take, depending on kindy pick,up) is cluster feed and doze on Mummy time. Feeling good about that now I've resigned myself to it. The rest of the day is 2-2.5hr feeds, with 2-3 feeds overnight. The Red Cross is coming to do the paperwork for some home help next Tues, so will find out exactly what they offer then. Mum goes home (again) on Monday, so hoping I'll be ok. Bub was 57cm and 4380g at his check on Tues (8.5wks), so spot on. Just about out of 0000 onesies. He's had three car trips this week here he's only cried for the last two-three mins, so is maybe getting used to the car (man I hope so!). And the cradle cap is slightly better, just slathering on the olive oil twice a day. Vaccinations went well today too.
Jen - The trip sounds full on but fun!
Sah - I'll swap some of your DS' extra sleep for some of my DS' constant feeds and catnaps! Seriously, I hope things improve with the bringing up milk and congestion. Poor little thing. How's DS1 now?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
JLeigh, sounds like he's doing well. We have vax next week, not looking forward to it. :( It'll be DD3's first nasty medical experience. My GP always feels bad about giving needles to my babies. Might try those anaesthetic patches on the skin first for her.
We have long evening feeding sessions until about 9pm. Then DD3 crashes for the night. I feed her once at some point during the night, then she sleeps until 8am, sometimes 8.30. :hide:
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi everyone! I've been a bit slack in here lately.
Dd2 is going I know. We had a trip to the paed last week because she stops breathing when she sleeps and was having massive regurgitation sessions. He said she has floppy throat muscles so she actually breaths in her reflux sometimes and that's what causes the stop in breathing. She seems to have improved now with sleeping elevated.
She is still a big baby though. A week ago when she was weighed she was 5.4kg a full kilo from birth. She is also 58cm. I have the 6 week check up tomorrow, not too worried because she was fully checked at the paed last week. It's just me that gets the full oil change!
She's also started doing 6 hour stretches at night. Makes me feel a bit more human!
Someone asked about cradle cap? I've heard olive oil is great but moo goo make a cradle cap cream and everyone I know who has used it swears by it.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Little O - Glad the sleep/breathing issues have improved. I'd have been scared if it was me.
We can't do Moo Goo as Bub is dairy intolerant. Olive oil is keeping it at bay for now.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
I've not been here much recently either. I'm concentrating on getting going with my photography. It's been a long time coming.
DS is going well, sleeping a bit messy during the day with school drop offs and pick ups but is going well at night. Did 10 - 5ish the other day which was blissful for me.
Had him weighed on tues at mothers group and we've hit 6010g! He'd gained 400g in a week. He's 57.5cm long too. Seems like a giant baby now.
I'm starting to struggle with a sore back and neck. Not sure if I need a massage, a chiropractor or what! It's just a bit ouchie.
All else going well, loving my littlest man. :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Wow, sounds like all our bubs are going great guns with weight gain. My little piggy was over 5.2 kg clothed last weekend, so she's past 5 kg by now bare. She'll be double her birth weight in a couple of weeks. Can count the rolls on her legs and she's getting chubby cheeks. Because she's growing so fast and clearly eating enough she's a fabulous sleeper. She goes down (passes out) around 8-8.30pm, has a quick feed in bed at about 3.30am and then sleeps in until 8am. I am guessing she'll drop the 3.30am one when she's ready. Has at least two long naps during the day and if I'm lucky I can get DD2 down at the same time in the afternoon for some quiet me time (which generally involves washing and work, but hey, at least I'm not being interrupted).
She had her vax yesterday but seems to have had no ill effects.
Best get off to bed now, I have work tomorrow.
