Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi everyone!
Sounds like all the bubs are going great, and everyone is being kept busy too.
We are going well! DS2 is nearly at 4kg which is exciting and is 8 weeks old today.
We have although had a trying 24hours with 2 poo explosions one in the car seat which covered DS2 and the car seat and the second covering him, as he was about to be put in the now clean car seat. We have also hAd 2power spews, one covering me as we were about to go out, and the other covering him and the clean car seat. Argh!!
Fingers crosse for a better 24hours ahead!

Me again!
How is everyone going? How are the bubbas?
I can not believe how fast time is going.
DS2 is 8.5 weeks, and has finally cracked 4kg. He weighed in today at 4.3kg so the last couple of weeks he has porked up.
I went to my first mothers group session today, the girls seemed lovely. Will continue with the next few sessions at the clinic and see how I go.
DS2 is also rolling constantly now. Can only go tummy to back, but is trying to go back to tummy.
Everytime we put him on his tummy, he rolls over - makes tummy time hard!
He is continuing to sleep well thank goodness. I generally give him a feed 945/10 so he's in bed by 1015 at the latest He will then wake anywhere between 330 and 6, normally around 5 and then goes straight back down for another 4ish hours till around 9ish. It definitely makes dealing with DS1 easier!

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Sah - Sounds like you've got the whole sleep thing aced! Glad you're enjoying mum's group too - We started playgroup this week and there are three of us with bubs under 4 months, so I don't feel so alone - especially as I couldn't find a mums group anywhere.
Bub is heaps happier at the moment, lots of smiles, babbling and the beginnings of giggling too. He's quite interactive, batting at toys and having conversations with us. He's only waking twice a night most nights and is pretty quick to resettle too. ;)
I'm still struggling with feeling anxious and not in control, but getting help and hoping to keep improving.
Oh, and I got all my hair chopped off on the weekend - really happy with it :)

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi girls! We are doing well too. DD3 is a chubby thing and double her birth weight already at over 5.5 kg. She's the fattest baby I've had - neither of the others ever approached the 50th percentile on the charts where she's reached. Poor thing just about chokes when I feed her there's so much milk. I think tandem feeding is giving me a ridiculous amount to satisfy both girls.
DD3 is also a good sleeper. She's just started going down for the night 7.30-8pm. She wakes once during the night and then likes to sleep until 8am. Occasionally I get a wake up for a quick feed around 5am, but sometimes she just wants to be put on her tummy to wriggle and pass wind. ;) It does make it easier to get DD2 sorted first.
We are nanny shopping again as ours has decided to study full time. I'm more worried for DD2 who's so attached to her. We have had some good applicants we start meeting from tomorrow, so should have a new one quite quickly. But DD2 adjusted last year when we found this one, so hoping it's a smooth transition.

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
So slack at coming in here...sorry!
How's everyone and their bubbas?
DS2 was 12 weeks last Thurs. He's wearing 000's, smiling and laughing and has started batting, kicking and grabbing things. His silent reflux is under control with meds, and we're doing well without dairy or soy in my diet. He had a few days on steroid cream last week as his cradle cap and eczema were really bad. He is drooling something chronic (and now has sweat rash/red raw skin on his neck as a result.*sigh*) and I have the feeling we'll see teeth I the next month or two. Poos are few and far between, and causing a few grizzles the day or two before ;) He can now manage a 5 minute trip in the car without screaming, and will usually stay asleep in the car if I cuddle him to sleep before he goes in. Waking twice a night for feeds (but quick and easy to resettle 9 times out of 10) and this week we've finally started getting a few day sleeps longer than 40 mins. Still no predicting which nap might be the long one, but hey, it beats 15 min cat naps!
Would love to hear how everyone else is doing. :)

Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hello!
We are going really well here.
Ds2 was 10 weeks yesterday and still a chilled out little monkey.
He's still in his 4x0 but I think he's going through a growth spurt, he's looking a lot bigger at the moment.
He smiles loads, and we don't hear too many cries.
He's still loving his sleeps, and I worry that he is sleeping too much sometimes!
He desperately wants to move, he's little legs go and go when he's on his tummy, and very cute to watch.
He is still rolling tummy to back all the time, but not yet mastered the other way, although he's trying too!
We are busy planning DS1 3rd birthday, a pirate themed party. I've just ordered some cute pirate pants and a dribble bib for DS2 to wear on the day from a lovely WAHM.
We are going to a mothers group, and the girls seem lovely. It's been nice to connect IRL with mums with bubs at the same stage, just as it was with DS1.
We also go to a playgroup one morning a week, mainly for DS1 at the moment, but once DS2 is bigger I'm sure he will love it too!
Hope everyone is well x

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi girls! Sounds like you're both having a good run. DD3 is a dream atm. Has slept 8pm-5.30am the last couple of nights, which she's been building up to for a couple of weeks. Starting to stretch out her 000s now with her chubby thighs and double chin. She's a happy smiley baby but def prefers me now to anyone else.
We had a new nanny start last week (old one started full time study). Loads of applicants and our new nanny is just perfect. DD2 took to her straight away and she thoroughly cleaned heaps of their toys and sorted their books her first day. I'm working two days atm, one from home. Still taking everyone with me into the city the other day, although it'll be easier on DD2 when DD3 can do without me (or more correctly, my bbs!) for long enough to leave them at home.

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
So slack at coming in here too! It's easier to write a quick post on FB sometimes.
DD3 is 12 weeks on Tuesday. Squeezing into 000's because I haven't been bothered to find the box with the 00's yet. Not much to report. All going well! So happy!

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
I haven't been on BB for ages - internet problems, BB problems and just generally busy, busy, busy!
I jinxed DS2's sleep - after a few nights of one wake up and almost a week of 1.5-3hr day naps, we are back to 40 mins max and a new night routine of waking every 1.5-2.5 hrs. Not happy Jan!! He's uncomfy the nights before a poo, plus has started rolling ALL the time so we can't wrap him anymore. Both haven't helped with getting him to sleep.
But, I feel good in myself.
I can't believe some of our bubs are squeezy in 000's!
Jen - glad the nanny is working out.

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
This is my third attempt! :wall:
Sorry but it will have to be brief now!
Dd2 is a giant :) she is in 00 now, nearly 7 kg. she just went 12 weeks on Tuesday. She's a very happy baby, does the crazy high pitched noises now. Very cute, but ear splitting!
Sleeping pretty well, just wakes for a top up around5-6am which is nice.
Hope everyone is well

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hey all, I've not been here for a while either. So so busy!! Find it easier on fb.
All going well here. DS was 6955g on Tuesday at 14 weeks (I think we're coming up to 15 weeks.... I'm losing count!) and he loves sitting up. He's my only baby to tolerate tummy time for longer than 10 milliseconds too which is good.
School holidays are busy and dd is really pushing hard for attention ATM. Loves her little bro but now he's more interactive she sees me pay him attention which she wants I guess. It's hard.! Luckily ds1 is really good.
Anyway will go now I'm getting a cold and am !exhausted.

Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
I have no idea how much DD3 weighs, but I might get her weighed at the drs when she has her next vax in two weeks.
Enjoying school holidays here, we've stayed home and gotten things done. Cubby house is up and I had the nanny sort out our storage (junk) room (including the kids clothes and shoes that have been put away) and DD1's room. It's like having another me around the one day I work from home!
Lots of work now so I'm doing two days with the nanny and another fit in around the kids. Trying to get down time occasionally, but that seems to be swallowed up by washing!
DD3 is my best baby yet. She's just so content. Wakes up in the morning beside me smiling and gooing. She loves to chatter to me and laughs lots. Sleeps easily and lots, happy to be in her tummy, under her play gym, in the car, in the pram, or worn. Nothing really bothers her. She only gets cranky when she's tired and wants to be put in her hammock. Still a great feeder and sleeping from 7pm-5am most nights, then back to sleep for another couple if hours. Good napper during the day too.
I don't know what I did to deserve her, but I'm definitely keeping her! She is totally adorable.
Maybe she's being compared to the tearaway toddler and the 'tude of her biggest sister - so it's not hard to look like a dream!

Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hi girls!!
Jen she is divine, and so glad she's a dream!
I have gotten lucky too which I'm very thankful for, it's nice that he has just slotted into our family.
My only struggle is the question of is he our last? In my head I know he is, I had always said 2. But now I don't know. But I don't know if that's because of my gender disappointment issues and I'm willing to try my luck for a girl or if it's I really want another one!
Luckily it's not a decision that needs to be made any time soon!
I haven't weighed him recently but he's fitting better into 000 still in some 0000 so he's definitely putting weight on! We have a paed follow up in mid May so will see how he's going then.
Oh, and the other struggle is he is so spewy. Happy but spewy. Lots of changes of clothes for both of us daily. Even with big cloth squares everywhere!

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Haha sah, that's my struggle too - I would go another but DP says no (most of the time). I'd like to have a discussion in 18 mths, but tbh I can't see DP changing his mind. It would have to be an accident and we are going to be so careful with contraceptives from six mths so that won't happen again! My cycle hasn't returned yet and I don't want less than two years' gap. I'm guessing since you had a tricky pg that adds another dimension to your thought process. Gender is probably a consideration for DP but I'm kinda past it now. I do feel the odd pang about never having a son but as they get older that's going. They're each so different that I am caught up with their individual personalities and DP is especially close to DD2, so I don't think about him missing anything.
It surprises me how many ppl ask us if we're going back for number four. DP does say it doesn't get any harder, just busier in the evenings and more washing. So who knows? ;)
DS2 is so cute! Your boys will be great friends as they grow. My fatty is into 00s now, I finally gave up trying to cram her poor legs into 000. Sorted winter gear for all of the girls yesterday - pulled out next sizes and packed away summer stuff. My nanny completely organised the hand-me-down shoes and clothes for me so it was painless. I have no idea why it's so hard for me to do and it only took her two nap times!

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Jen, I was just thinking about you and coming to ask you a question about woven wraps because I know you know a lot about them!!! I think I want one. Hopefully not just because they're soooo pretty, LOL. I have a hug a bub which is good for newborn, a sling which is good when a bit older for just ducking in to the shops on my hip, and an ergo which is good when a bit older and good for DH but I don't find it comfy to sit down in because I'm only short and the waist bit folds when I try sit. Would also like something I can tie while holding her when out. With the HAB you have to put it on first so need somewhere to sit the baby while you're getting it on! Would a woven wrap be useful you think? Is it really still comfy as they get older? Are back carries easy enough?? Any brand suggestions?? And I am confused about the sizing!! No idea. I'm only small, just under 5'2 I think but also want to have lots of options for different carries. I don't even know what you can do but I know I'd want to experiment. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Haha Heaven, wraps are fantastic but hard to stop at one. There's a babywearing buy swap sell Oz group on FB (BWBSS) that you can apply to and browse wraps for sale. I'd recommend a cotton, size 6 (about same size as HAB) or size 4. I find sz 4 best for easy back carries, but if you look at babywearing videos on YouTube you might get a good idea of the kind of carries you'd prefer and choose your size from that. I personally don't like the Ergo because wraps give a closer and more comfortable carry. I'll PM you the FB group link.

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hello! How is everyone? We are going great guns here.
DS2 is 18 weeks tomorrow, and weighed in at 6kgs (with clothes on) on Thursday.
So still a little man, but steadily putting weight on.
He's still a happy little man thank goodness!
The paed wants us to start solids, but I dont think he's ready so will be holding off for a little bit.
I packed up all my maternity clothes to donate yesterday, but couldn't do it, so I put them in a spare cupboard until I know we are we done!
Better head head off, DH and I have been up chatting, and I'm knackered!!

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hard to believe it - but my tiny baby is five mths now! She's still very easy-going and usually happy. Smiles at everyone, loves her big sisters the best. And our dog. Growing way too quickly :( but cuter every day. We're just plodding along enjoying this stage - she only needs me, is portable and mostly stays in one spot! Hope everyone else is well.

Re: Babies Born ~ January 2014 #1
Hello!
How is everyone? Sorry I've been a stranger here in BB land!
Dd2 is getting so big. She's in 00 but they're getting tight and she is still in the 90th percentile for everything lol. She's so placid and happy. Chats all day, giggles a lot and has been rolling over for a couple weeks now. She loves being on her mat because she likes to grab onto her toys and play now.
Dd1 still adores her. They're really cute together. Dd1 likes to read to her (pretend) and shares all her things so we have to remind her she can't put everything on the mat with her lol. Hopefully they'll stay good friends when they're older.
Dd2 has a cold at the moment, a terrible wet cough so I am hoping she improves soon. Don't know what else I can do for her.
She sleeps well too which is nice. Has two big sleeps a day (3-4 hours) and sleeps solidly from 10-8 overnight. She loves her milk too cheeky thing :)
Hope you're all well
X
