Hi all, the little man is due to wake up for a feed any minute now, so sorry for lack of personals.

Thanks for all the feedback about Ash's vomiting, I'm pretty confident it's not reflux and it has seem to have improved (marginally) the last couple of days... Mind you it was really bad over the weekend and for the few days leading up to it... Oh well, I'm sure he'll grow out of it sooner or later (just hope it is sooner lol).

I haven't even thought about christmas yet (it's frightening how close it is!). I have no idea what we will get Ash, so all your ideas are great. I think we might ask family to get more practical gifts like a high chair and car seat, because he is quickly outgrowing his capsule and I think by christmas we will need to move up to the reversible seat. We normally do a big family lunch at our place, but I am hoping to duck it this year if we can. DH and I were even toying with the idea of going away, but I don't think we'll get away with that. Then January we have all of DH's family over from the States which will be a handful. We've got them coming in two two week stints, his mum and aunt first and then his dad and stepmum. I get along well with his mum and aunt, but I have to admit I find his dad trying at the best of times, so it will be interesting to see how things go now that Ash is in the picture...

Anyway, have to run, but will be back for personals in the next day or so. Hope everyone is doing well xo

    hi bekz

    Hi,

I have just bought a summer sleeping bag for Eva. She wriggles out of her swaddle now. I have been thinking of setting up the porta cot for her this week because she wakes herself up by hitting the side of the basinette. I do love having her right beside me at night for feeds. Does anyone get up to feed at night?

Eva has slept from 9.30pm till 5.30am 2 nights in a row now. Her fussiness with feeding has stopped too thank goodness.

I met a mum and bub at a party on Saturday night. Her son was born on July 8 and he is 9.5kgs what a whooper...but very cute

Hi Belinda, good to hear from you welcome to the thread! I had wondered if you would pop in. Congrats on your baby girl wow 9 hours a night that is fantastic lucky you!

Sarah hope Corey settles & starts sleeping longer for you! Glad to hear ou are all feeling better.

Jetta glad to hear the move is going well. Good luck working on the self settling. I found it much easier than I expected this time! So you never know he might justdo it for you with no fuss...

Cate glad to hear the needles went well! Arlea had her hip scan this week, all was fine, I think they just like to be careful? Hope things improve for your DH at work.

Storm I have had a look for the Bumble balls on the net, I would like to get one too! I found them on youtube HERE but can't find any Australian stockists, they do seem to be mostly a pet store thing - I'm sure I got mine in the toy section in KMart! I don't think it matters though, if I can find one in a pet store, it looks like exactly the same thing.
Enjoy your weekend visiting your parents!

MamaPan hope J settles again soon for you. That's great that the osteo is working! The MooGoo is good stuff isn't it!

MissE good to hear that Ash's reflux seems to be getting better. Sounds like you have a very busy Christmas time coming up!

    How is everyone else going?

AFM I had Arlea weighed yesterday for the first time since her 8 week vax (4 weeks ago). She has only gained 300g but she has grown 3.5cm! So she has dropped a percentile, still above average but not as high as she was. The nurse plotted it wrong to start with & went into worry mode, trying to arrange for us to see the Dr right then! until she realised her mistake & said it wasn't as bad as she thought
I'm not too worried..she was very chubby when she was born so she still has that baby chubbiness, just not as big. She still looks quite healthy to me & she is obviously thriving & doing everything right. The nurse at the front desk agreed with me..but I will take her back to be weighed in a fortnight, and then she will have her 12 week vax 2 weeks after that (gee they come around quick!) so we will keep an eye on it.

Hope everyone is well, have a great weekend!

    Hi all,

Sorry for not doing personals but I forgot who has had what happening as I've been busy running around the place and trying (and eventually succeeding) to do uni stuff (I must be mad to try and get uni stuff done - although it's my last subject in my Masters of Ed course).

Not too sure about how I feel about going back to school in a fortnight (2 Mondays time) - DH is going to spend the first week home with DS except for the Friday (he's going to Sydney for the day) and it will be Blake's first day in Childcare. It could be an interesting week for DH might get a few visits/phone calls to school for me.

Blake's also been having trouble going to sleep during the day and early evening. I've eventually learnt that he doesn't like sleeping before about 8:30pm in the evenings and more often it's closer to 9:30/10pm when he'll go down - takes after his father a bit there - night owl - while I'm an early to bed kind of girl. But he only wakes twice overnight - somewhere between 2 & 3 am usually and then around 5 - 6 am for feeds and nappy change, then up for the day somewhere between 8 & 9 am. His day sleeps are starting to settle down again, thank goodness. He used to sleep for 2 - 3 hours and go down easily before his baptism (20 Sept) but got out of that routine that weekend and fought going to sleep during the day since then. This week we're starting to get some longer sleeps than 1/2 hour (when I got up to put him in his cot) on me after feeds (saw a just a few movies on DVD the last few weeks). Starting to get back to having a 1 1/2 - 3 hour sleep in the cot again or in the pram if we're out watching DH play tennis after settling to sleep in the sling.

I've not been seeing a MCHN, I've just gone up to weigh Blake every now and then. (Is that bad? ) I don't have any questions for them often so I don't see the point. DS's currently 6.97kg and 61.5cm at 14 weeks/3mths1wk (3.17kg and 48cm at birth)

Although this week I kind of do have a question. (will also post this question in the general baby/toddler area)

Blake's got really dry skin all of a sudden (it's been working up to it for the last fortnight) on his face and (this has come up in the last week) on his body. I haven't changed anything in the past week or so.

He does have a bit of cradle cap which is slowly disappearing (tried baby oil, MooGoo scalp cream, and olive oil) but it seemed to migrate slowly onto his forehead (before trying the Moo Goo scalp cream) and then down the edges of his cheeks (closest to his ears).
The dry skin doesn't seem to bother him - although DH is a bit concerned. I put some MooGoo MSM cream after DS's bath each time on him but it doesn't seem to have done much. I thought I'd try something different last night instead and tried to use sorbolene cream and DS started screaming as soon as I tried to rub it in so that came off reasonably quickly with the face washer and the MooGoo went on instead. I did put a little olive oil afterwards on a spot near his chin on his chest to see if that would help as that spot was starting to get scaly like his forehead and cheeks. (I eventually ended up using olive oil on his scalp & forehead to ease the scaly-ness of the cradle cap as I wasn't getting to putting on the Moo Goo scalp cream often enough and the MSM cream wasn't appearing to do much. The olive oil seemed to settle the forehead a fair bit). His back and chest seem to be dry and looks a bit patchy in it's dryness. It almost looks like a rash but I'm not sure. It doesn't appear to annoy DS so not quite sure there.

    Hi Everyone.

Welcome Belinda. I am at Windaroo which is near Yatala, so I am very close. Us Bris/Gold Coast girls should do a meet up one day!!!

I have been mia due to a really hard week with all my girls. I actually have averaged 4hours of sleep per night. Miss Eva has decided that sleep is just not required through the day and DD2 thinks that she doesn't need to sleep either lol. So I've beeb a little frazzled to say the least.

I am going solo for a week, whilst DH goes away for work. Should be fun

I'll be back later to read everything properly

    hi & welcome belinda

bek - i hope this week is a better one for you & i hope the girls are on their bestest behaviour while your DH is away!

leckert - it's great to hear from you - sounds like you have been really busy!!

i think we had a wonder week last week - i wasn't sure whether the 2 hourly wake ups overnight were just because corey was sick or a wonder week but now he is almost rolling from his back to his front - he's up on his side & so close to getting over. that started on friday & then yesterday he pretty much rolled from his tummy to his back & sat & sun nights he's done a 4 hr sleep at the start of the night (then back to 2 hrs) so maybe we're coming out the other side of a wonder week....fingers crossed!

    hope everyone is going well

Just wanted to pop in quickly, I think Ash has started teething He had red cheeks most of the week last week and over the weekend he has been incredibly grizzly and not sleeping for anymore than 30 minutes. He's showing most of the other classic signs too... I just hope we get a bit of a reprieve soon, I know we've got months and months of this ahead of us but it would be nice to get a break.

To make matters worse we've got building works going on downstairs in the shop below. The noise wasn't too bad last week, but today it is really bad and carrying upstairs to his bedroom which isn't helping at all

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hey everyone. We survived our weekend with my parents! I know mum appreciated us coming up and being able to see Hayley again. Dad took a while to warm up, but on Sunday morning he was great. Hayley cracked it as we were trying to pack the car to leave and he was walking around the house trying to shush her!

I ordered a peanut sling a week ago and it arrived today - a nice chocolate one with pink dots. I'm hoping I haven't ordered the wrong size as I can't seem to get hayley in there...had a struggle trying to get her in the cradle hold way, she was laughing the first time but after that she just grizzled. I tried the kangaroo hold a little while ago and after a while managed to get her in there, but it didn't look at all comfortable as her legs were all mangled underneath her...I just can't seem to get it to open wide enough to fit her in. Maybe i'm just a spastic and I'm not doing properly..i don't know... does anyone else have a peanut shell sling??

Cradle cap is basically gone; now working on scaly / dry skin on forehead, then onto the rest of DS's body. Currently using a combo of paw paw cream and olive oil - whichever I find first when I go to "cream" it seems to be working - at least the olive oil removes the dead looking scales.

ss_storm - sorry, no help from me - i had a peanut sling for corey but i tried it a couple of times & it just wasn't happy in there so i sold it! to me it looked kind of uncomfy but i really only tried the cradle hold because corey was still really young at that stage. i know mel (arimeh) sold them in her store so she might be able to help?

hi Belinda, welcome! So jealous of your nine hour sleeps!!

ss-storm - I'm no help either. I got a Bubba Moe sling and managed to get Zac into it once or twice relatively successfully, but it just didn't look that comfortable. I found it easier to put him in the sling while it was flat on the bed and then put the sling on. I think I might revisit it when he's a bit older and try some of the other holds.

Miss E - poor bubba, poor you! Can't say I'm looking forward to teething either...
We had some building work done when Zac was about 3 weeks old and he actually woke up when the noise stopped :-)

Leckert - good luck with going back to school. It will be interesting to see how your DH goes being home alone with him ;-) Sounds like you're going well with the cradle cap.

Jasp - that's quite a lot of growing Arlea's been doing!

AFM - having done a week of 5-8 hour sleeps over night Zac has decided that he will revert to waking every 3-4 hours overnight ah well. I guess he's proven that he can do it - if he wants to ;-)

We had our final 'formal' mothers' group meeting yesterday - will start meeting at each others' houses from next week. I'm really looking forward to it as it seems like a really nice bunch of people and we will get a chance to get to know each other much better.

looks like we're in for a week of beautiful weather here in Melbourne, thank goodness.

Got great news from my CC yesterday - and Blake starts Monday and has Thursday and Friday there as well. They weren't sure when they'd have a space for him on the Mon and Thurs for him - were waiting for a couple of children to leave. Means if Blake doesn't settle well DH can get him. DH is still home with Blake on Tues & Wed now (planned that way until end of term, then he goes back to work full time & I get Blake again).

    Hi All,

No time for personals as at work today! We have moved house, everything went well but we have no internet still! Long story but hopefully in the next week or so, it is driving us crazy! Welcome to all new people, and sounds like everyone is doing well!
We are doing well, Sam did his first roll yesterday which was great and lots of smiles and is now enjoying tummy time.
Anyway, gotta run but just thought I would let you know I survived the move and we are all still alive! Will write again soon when internet is on!
