It certainly did go quiet here for a few days didn't it, I hope it is a sign that mums and bubs are doing well.

Ash seems to have come out of his wonder week - a week to the day. He's still not sleeping as long as he used to for his naps (only about 30 mins at a time) but most days we seem to get one longer one which lets me get a bit more done. He is a lot more grizzly than he used to be, but I think he's worked out that when he grizzles we respond () and is beginning to asert himself a bit more, which I guess is all part of growing up...

Hope everyone else is well. Will pop back for personals a bit later, but expecting the little man to wake up any moment so better get organised x

Arlea must have worn herself out during her week, becasue she slept sooo well on Monday night, she went down to sleep with very little fuss at about 8:00 , had a dream feed at 10:30 & then slept until 4:30am and then STILL slept heaps yesterday.
I was a bit worried that because we held & rocked her so much last week she would have picked up some bad habits, but it seems fine, she is still self-settling really well - last night after I put her in bed we could hear her chatting to herself for over half an hour before she dropped off to sleep! very cute, the kids think she has an imaginary friend
She has upped her feeding, a big jump from an average of 60-90ml at a time to 110-140 and a couple of 170ml feeds in there as well. Will be interesting to see what her weight is on Friday. She is rolling a lot more now, and a lot stronger with tummy time.

No personals from me either I'm sorry I'm supposed to be working while she is asleep but will be back later

Oh but just quickly - yay for being back online Jetta that must be a huge relief; and Storm, what is a Laugh & Learn puppy? souds interesting...

Jasp - it's a soft puppy toy but you press different parts of it's body and it sings songs, and names body parts etc. Kind of like a Tickle-Me-Elmo only better! I met a lady yesterday who has a 15 month old daughter and she has one of them, Hayley loved it. If you search on ebay for "fisher price puppy" or "laugh and learn puppy" you should get a few results come up.

Yay for Arlea's sleeping! I really notice it when Hayley has a long sleep in the afternoon, means I can get heaps done. isn't it gorgeous when they chatter away in bed! Hayley started chattering away and blowing raspberries at 6.30 the other morning..I so didn't want to get out of bed and lay there until 7 when I thought I should finally get up, she was quite happy in her cot until then!

Dh's sister sent it over from WA, it was her sons & he has outgrown it. The kids play with it sometimes with Arlea, the y press the buttons for her...so there you go

grrr...must motivate myself to do some work!

gah - grace is only sleeping 1/2 hr at a time during the day, feeding every 2-3 hours around the clock! I really hope this is a wonder week. I'm wondering if I should start introducing solids if this keeps going. She'll be 4 months this weekend...

But she is really laughing, and active now makes up for the lack of sleep

ss_storm - I look on ebay periodically, but haven't yet seen anything that either fits what I'm looking for or seems reasonably priced... He's now got a couple of black long-sleeved bodysuits which make him look really mean but I can put t-shirts over the top if it's a bit chilly. The way he's growing atm he'll be into the next size soon anyway!

Also, isn't it nice when they can entertain themselves in their cot for a while? I've done the same with Zac and he seems quite happy chattering away to himself for a while.

jetta - I reckon being without the internet is almost worse than not having a phone!

Miss E - I think it's around this age that they start becoming aware of themselves as individuals rather than seeing everything around them as just extensions of themselves?

Jasp - it will be interesting to see how much she has grown considering the big jump in feeding!

Ryatha - Z is 4 months this weekend too and we are going to try him on some baby rice - he seems to be needing more food lately too, and has been watching us eat for a while...

AFM - OMG 4 months already!!! We had our 4 month MCHN check up yesterday - he is now 6.6 kg and 66.7cm long - average weight for a 4 month old but in the 100th percentile for his length! I think we are going to have to go up to the next size in nappies as we are getting more frequent leakage

He is so much more interactive now and his face lights up when he sees me or DH. He hasn't done any full on laughing yet - more a grunty sort of chuckle, but he's very smiley most of the time. DH's grandmother flew over from NZ yesterday to meet her two new great-grandchildren - v exciting to see her. 85 years old and she's such a cool old lady!

better go and have a shower while Z's asleep - like everyone else by the sound of it, the sleeps are getting shorter and further apart...

Cat,

Blake's been doing the same - I'm sort of putting it down to me going back to work (even though it started before then), 4mth vaccs, some really dry skin (bad bad case of cradle cap that migrated over his whole body and face) and a slight cold (runny nose and slight cough). Worked out that if he sleeps in the "recovery position" (first aid term) on his side in the cot he might sleep longer than flat on his back.

liz - the recovery position sounds good, fred is on her back, she likes to spread her arms out and she almost touches the sides. the mattress is still raised to help with her reflux but with the way she is starting to wriggle I might need to lower it soon. Not good about the dry skin spreading all over. Have you tried moogoo? it worked with fred and one of the babies in my mothers group. Her daughter also had cradle cap everywhere and she tried my moogoo at the begining of the session. Two hours later and it had already improved. she went and bought some the next day and now her DD has none. Hope work is going well and blake lets you get some sleep

cate - isn't it lovely when they see us and we get a great big smile? melts my heart

storm - certainly sounds cute when they chatter in bed, I love the raspberries but fred hasn't learnt to do them yet.

Lol Hayley must be the opposite! Or she has been lately...all this week she has been having some long day sleeps - yesterday she slept for 2 hours in the morning then a couple of little naps, and went to bed at 7. The day before I popped her on our bed at 3 so I could have a sleep too, I woke at 6, she woke at 7 and then was back in bed by 8. The last two nights she has slept right through, but she has woken up tonight and I finished feeding her only a few minutes ago. Just waiting for her to go back to sleep before I go back to bed otherwise I'm up and down, which I hate!

I think it might be the heat though, weather has been funny here lately, cool then hot, cool then rainy then hot...the heat must make her sleepy! She only had 4 bottles yesterday too because she slept for so long!

Cat,

Tried the moogoo (but not doing enough). Child Care commented about it, even rang Tim to check we were aware of it and suggested we see a dr about it. Ended up having to get 2 different steriod creams (one for body and one for face) and use QV cream on it as well. It's looking soo much better and we've only been doing it for 2 days now. Dr said it should be cleared up in a week. (reminds me I need to book a follow up appointment for it)

Blake likes sleeping on his back to spread out. But if he starts in recovery he can roll (in his sleep) onto his back and seems fine with it 99% of the time rather than starting him on his back. Mind you this is only during the daytime - night time he's usually fine to sleep on his back. Go figure.

Work's going reasonably well. I almost wish I hadn't gone on leave because my library assistant has gotten too big for her britches again !!!wall: She's gone backwards in her attitude to staff and students I had finally got her being reasonable 99% of the time now it's back to maybe around 15 - 20% of the time - bad mouthing of staff/students and thinks she runs the library. (she really shouldn't be any where near a location where any sort of customer service is required.)
