Just sharing my excitement that dd has a tooth! I didn't even notice so not sure when it came haha
Oh yay Tasha !!!! Exciting :) how cute are first teeth :)
We have no teeth here yet but we are crawling and have been saying mum for months haha :)
So excited to be a family of 4 for Christmas :)
How is everyone and their bubs ?
Wow cinder! crawling? I can't wait for that, but I can. Cos then I have to baby proof things
Yeah she just started .. It's great and it's not at the same time lol..
She is growing to fast :( and now I have to be extra careful cause DD1 has all of her toys which are not all baby appropriate as in small parts so I have to be on an even bigger look out !!
I'm trying to remember when DD2 got teeth but I can't lol oops
Maybe a play pen kind of thing? I was just discussing this with my DH yesterday because I think dd will start crawling any day now. I cant see all of the lounge room from the rest of the house so that will suck. We don't have any older toys lying around, but we do have the dog, and all his fur!! "lol"
She can sit, but still a bit wobbly. I'm also not liking the whole trying to roll in the cot thing. I tuck the blankets in so tight so she can't lift her legs up to roll over  She will just wake herself up at night if she rolls over.
Anyone still wrapping ? We have just weaned from the wrap (well arms anyway) I only wrap her torso now. last night was her first night with both arms out and she woke up twice, but she'll get the hang of it. She's fine at day sleeps.
We weaned from wrapping a few months ago , we did the one arm out then both arms . Now she is in a sleeping bag . She rolls at night and will sleep on her tummy or on her side :)
As soon as she started to roll I wanted to get her out of the wrap as in a wrap she wouldn't be able to roll back over iukwim .. Also as it's so hot now I didn't want her stuck wrapped up ..
It was a pretty easy transition actually , which is good ha ha ..
Hi ladies! :) Yay for teeth and crawling and sitting! This is such an awesome age, isn't it?? :)
I am so excited to be celebrating Christmas with a baby in the house again. I remember our first Christmas with DS1, I was so overwhelmed (in a good way!!) about opening presents for another little person lol. I loved it :D I have a feeling Emily will be getting some practical items in her stocking from Santa ;) Sippy cup, plastic spoons, etc  My brother has high chair for us, so must organise picking that up from him soon too.
We've stopped wrapping as well. Emily sleeps just in whatever clothes she is wearing during the day, and has a bonds "wonder bundle" sleep sack for overnight. We only have a bottom sheet on the cot mattress, no top sheet or blankets (it's too hot!). She's fully in the cot now too, had a few concerned comments about her tipping over the bassinet if she was left it in for much longer so bit the bullet and packed it away.
Do you think the bassinet could be tipped over peaks ?
DD2 is still in her bassinet , plus the cot and our bed lol
I'm not too sure, but I'd rather not take the chance. I had an accident with DS1 - we always used one of those SAFE T sleep wraps with him, and one morning when I stripped the bedding off his cot, I put it in the wash too. Then later I put DS1 down for a nap and didn't put the side up and he managed to climb/fall out!! I still remember the sound of the loud thump and then him screaming :( Thankfully he was fine! He cried and whimpered for a little bit, then went on as usual. Took him to the doc to get checked out and he was all good. I never forgot to put the side up again after that! But it was a hard lesson to learn :(
Did you all have a nice Christmas? As to be expected, Emily was more interested in the wrapping paper
We can say two words now !!!!!
What is everyone's bubs weight ?
How exciting, Cinder! :)
Not sure on weight here, Emily hasn't been weighed since her 3 month check. She's big though, bound to have shot up from the 50th percentile! I got her a cute little top from target in size 6-12mths and it was already tight the first time she wore it.
We started solids yesterday. I was going to do the baby led weaning with solids, but never got around to looking into it more, and we've been eating pretty average since the boys started holidays  sooo, I went with what I know and mashed up some sweet potato. Lots of funny faces were pulled, and I think she wore more than what she ate, but it was fun! And the boys think she is sooooo clever for 'eating' and have a sippy cup with water! :)
Hi girls. Happy New Year to everyone.
How did everyone spend last night? I spent it making baby food. We had been away for xmas and my stash was low so used the time to cook uo a storm. Its a big job out of the way. Well until he eats it all :)
Jack is awesome. Starting to sit a little bit, no crawling yet, and we think we have heard mum a few times. Not enough to call it though :) He is finally sleeping unswaddled although we are using sleepy wings as his hands are still naughty lol. I put them on, he turns on his side and goes to sleep. So much nicer than rocking him. He still loves me to rock him the days he is in daycare but only for a few minutes then wriggles to go down so he can roll on his side. I think he misses me and just wants a quick snuggle. I know he should be on his back, but i cant seem to stop him. Especially having no blankets or sheets he moves all around the cot.
Christmas was great. We went away to see the relies. He was happy to be so on the go. He loves people. We turned his car seat around for the journey over but he didnt like it so we turned it back rear facing. Jack is just over 8 kilo.
Glad to hear everyones bubs are going so well. Tasha its great to see you back in here.
Hi ladies :)
Vic, I spent yesterday making baby food  We have just started sleeping unwrapped too so she knocks her dummy out 3 or so times before drifting off to sleep! Nice to hear Jack is going well :)
Cinder, I'm not sure what dd weighs, but I'm guessing around 7-8 kg. I have MCHN app at the end of the month so I'm interested in her measurements.
Peeks, yay for solids :) I just steam stuff in the microwave steamer and then use a stick mixer to puree, too easy!
We've had a bit of a rough week at nights, think it's the teeth :( But last night not a peep! I feel amazing  I have bonjella and baby panadol, but have heard nurofen is better for teething pain so might get some when the big teeth come in. Both her bottom front have come through, it's so cute. She is sitting up now and using her walker around the house. I just love seeing every step as she gets new skills and gets the hang of things. MIL bought her a puppy toy that you plug into the computer and personalise. It says her name and spells it out to her. You can also program it with favourite foods and colours, it's awesome :)
As for new years I was in bed at 11pm! What did everyone else get up to?
Tasha is that violet ? My DD1 has it :) is a purple dog ?
We have just started baby led solids here , DD2 fave so far is papaya pieces , baked sweet potato chunks , broccoli pieces , mango pieces and whole bananas :) ... She is having a lot of fun playing with her food and trying it when she wants to .. It brings back so many memories from DD1 doing BLS as well hahah .. It's such a messy fun time ..
Oh she also likes cucumber pieces cut up to suck on when they are cold from the fridge ..
We are still bf and it's going well and strong ... She weighs 6.1 kg as of weds .. She is in 000 and 00 clothes , and growing a lot length wise , hence the 00 clothes ..
News years eve we took the girls to see some fireworks that were close by near the water .. We missed them lol.. So came home , dd2 crashed and we ok DD1 outside and played with sparklers and played Jew new board games she got for Christmas
DD2 still hates hates the car and I find it she likes it better if I sit in the back on the middle of the girls lol , actually they both think that's pretty cool ha ha .. We have no plans to Turn her car seat around anytime soon , leave her rear facing for as long as we can 12+months ..
Jack sounds like he is doing great Vic :)
Tasha those teeth I can just imagine how cute they would he heheh :)
Sounds like both boys are now adjusting better with having a little sister peeks ?
Oh an sues Tasha , nurafen is better for teething :)
Yep Cinder it's the purple dog called violet! It's awesome :)
Oh no lol !! We have full on crawling now .. Where is my baby gone :(
happy new year ladies! : )
I am away atm, and just on mobile so can't remember everyone's posts but it sounds like everyone's babies are doing so well - teething, crawling, talking! cinder, you are right... it's going too fast.
my little guy must be too relaxed for his own good, he has only just started to try the rolling thing... he accidentally did it yesterday but nothing since! he is such a lovely boy, rarely cries & is loving jumping on my lap atm. he is in his cot now (in my room..) and still getting wrapped, but just torso really. he still likes it & as soon as I wrap he tilts his head to the side, sucks his fingers & goes to sleep... so cute. : )
I'm starting to think about solids too now, he is starting to watch us now & I think I will start in a few weeks when he's closer to 6 mths (he was 5 mths on 24th dec). I think I will start with baby led, maybe occasional mash & see how we go. I feel a bit unready for it, but I guess it's got to start eventually. at least my mum will be happy, she has been nagging me to start for weeks. :-/
We were all in bed by about 11:15 on NYE ;)
Anyone else still doing night feeds? We're up once anytime from 2am-5am'ish for a bottle. She is so sleepy and snuggly, I really enjoy the cuddles, I just wish it wasn't in the middle of the night! She settles straight back to sleep, so it's not too bad.. just the broken sleep is taking it's toll a little bit.
peeks, we still do night feeds most of the time. average time is around 4.30am atm, he settles straight away as well & gets up again around 8 (if we're lucky 9). his sleeping patterns have changed a lot past couple weeks. he usually feeds/sleeps until around 11am but now gets up around 8-9am for a couple of hours, then back to bed. over Christmas we've got a few 2 hr sleeps around lunchtime (which is great for my little cat napper). he is also needing a few resettles before 12, not sure why. I just tuck him back in & he goes to sleep so not a problem really, but like you - an unbroken sleep would be amazing. : )
Yeah peeks we are still night feeding..I have the cot side off and her cot against our bed so I just feed her while I'm laying down and she either sleeps next to me in my bed or I pop her back over into her cot ..
I did this with DD1 as well and it worked for me , I got a lot more sleep this way as she could feed while I slept ..
She feeds a lot during the night , a lot would be comfort feeds , which I'm fine with ..broken sleeps sucks I know , but DD1 only just started sleeping through the night when I was 10 weeks pregnant with DD2 so I'm still used to broken sleep hahha :)
Oh Andie your little Bub sounds adorable :) and boo to silly people trying to push solids to early :/
Tasha - Father Christmas bought Jack Scout the green version of Violet. We have yet to set it up.
And we are up through the night here too. He slept through the night from 10 weeks till 17 weeks but started teething, got sick, started day care and it all went down hill. He has been super hungry the last few weeks and has had a real growth spurt. We are in a wonder week dark patch but should be good at the end of week 26. I cant believe Jack is six months tomorrow. Where has the time gone? I was going through my video camera and looking at the videos of when he was just born. So cute. I was in baby bunting last week and got a bit sad that I don't have a newborn baby any more. Still he is so much more fun now. Just wish he would sleep through.

No night feeds here, dreamfeed at 10pm and first feed at 7-7:30am. But she does wake on average 1-2 times a night for the dummy to be put back in. Takes less effort than going to the toilet so can't complain I guess. Maybe once a week she will sleep right through and when she does it is absolute bliss!!!
Peeks, at this age overnight feeds are probably a comfort thing as Cinder mentioned. But if your over getting up at night maybe try to resettle? DD used to wake at 3am then she started waking at 5am so one morning I just resettled her and she hasn't had an overnight feed since. I also noticed that she wasn't overly interested in her 7am feed, that's how I knew she probably didn't need the 3am one :)
Andie, starting solids is not as big of a deal as people make it. We stared at 4 months and it was just tasting, a teaspoon or two. Now we do two feeds a day (if i remember lol) Will probably start 3 meals a day when we hit 6 months next week. But a positive for solids is dd seemed to be more settled once starting them.
Vic, do the bear! It's great hearing your bubs name come from a toy  It's also come in handy during a tantrum ;)
Haven't had too much drama with teething at this stage. A few bad nights, but not too bad. I have woken up with a head cold today and my throat is on fire! And yesterday i sucked dd dummy clean while at the supermarket after she dropped it  Her favourite thing is the walker at the moment. She loves the independence. I love this age, starting to see the little personality, the quirks :)
my little guy must've have picked up on all this sleep talk, he slept through last night - 9.30pm-7.30am (with one resettle at 1am but I'm going to let him off the hook with that one bc we are staying with friends and it was noisy last night!). He then went back to bed & slept 8.30-10.30am! I feel amazing today. : )
Hope you're feeling ok tasha, head colds are the worst. Xx
Andie, yay for your little man sleeping all the way through! It will just get better and longer as time goes on :)
When dd was still only a few weeks old I kept hearing about everyone's babies "sleeping through" and it would make me upset. But I found out a few months ago that the term "sleeping through" means a stretch of only 6 hours between feeds. So there I was thinking that all these people had all night sleeping babies! My definition of sleeping through is at least 8 hours
I still don't agree with saying sleeping through ..it just makes new parents have expectations that don't exist you know ?
I don't sleep through . I wake to go to toilet , to get a drink , from a dream , being to hot or to cold or uncomfortable ..
So I don't see why a baby or a child would need to "sleep through " you know ?
DD1 started sleeping more from 32 months old . She still wakes through out the night now form time to time . And she comes into our bed every morning between 2-6 ..
I dunno :/
On other notes .. Teething sux lol .. I don't wanna go through teething again wahhhhh
tasha - yeah, the sleep through was lovely but it was a one time deal! next night he woke 3 times! I've learnt to take the good with the bad now though. It would be nice to get a heads up when a sleep through was coming so I could get myself in to bed nice & early & take advantage. : )
cinder - I agree, personally I had no expectations before ds was born. The only expectation I had was no sleep & up all night! my little guy surprised us though & slept more than I had expected. a nice bonus. I don't 'need' him to sleep through, it's just awesome when he does bc I get a restful sleep too. although often I just wake at 4am anyway & wonder why he's still asleep... check he's breathing etc! ; )
good luck with the teething... not looking fwd to that myself. we have a lot of drool & gumming things here, but not needing panadol or anything yet.
Oh I agree !! I love it when they sleep longer haha .. But I do the same , I end up waking up and checking on them , making sure they are breathing and warm enough sigh ;/
It's funny since having kids I now find that if I have a really good nights sleeps I often end up more tired than normal . Can't win ?!
We got a Sophie the giraffe a month or so ago and it's amazing !!
It's so good for sore gums , she loves it , chews on it holds it and just seeing the you she lights up and smiles :)
I def recommend getting one
we have a Sophie too, definately worth getting. funniest thing listening to the squeaking noises of his gums against it.
: )
hey ladies - anyone ever had their little ones refuse 2 feeds in a row? my little guy didn't want to feed from 2.30-9.30pm yesterday... had me really worried. back to normal today (fed at 5, 7.30 & 10.30am). we travelled to a friends place yesterday which is 3 hrs away & he slept the whole time, which is unusual as well. he seemed really hyper when we arrived (about 7.30pm) & he wouldn't stay on long enough for let down & didn't want to feed/couldn't get it happening. called aba & they said not to stress too much bc he's not a tiny baby anymore, but it felt like he'd never feed again at the time... :-/
Andie - not too sure about bf but Jack had a few days when he didnt want a bottle. He was teething andcoming down with a cold. I just made sure his solids were upped and offered water. Girls at daycare said its not uncommon.
Tasha - i did scout, and its awesome. So cute. Scout is a dog and its cute hearing Jacks name.
As for sleeping through I classify it as sleeping through if i dont have to tend to him through the night. From week 10 to week 17 i would put Jack down to bed at 7.30pm and not hear from him till 6-7am. It was bliss. Now not so lucky. Last night it was pretty much every hour. Damn teeth! He is just finishing a leap so hoping itgets better.
thanks, vic. I think it might be his gums, lots of drool & frantic munching on things atm. and perhaps a leap bc he can now roll!! pretty exciting bc he has been trying but not really fussed about it for a while now & yesterday he just did it. rolled back as well, so he's quite pleased with himself. : )
don't know about you, but the sleep thing is easier to deal with now I've been a mum for a while... initially when he went from sleeping 3-4 hrs during the day to catnaps I was really stressed. I thought I was doing something wrong, or that I had ruined his future sleep patterns somehow & that he'd never sleep longer than 40 mins ever again! it just took time for me to realise that it ebbs & flows & to relax a bit. it was only when he was around 3-4 months that I felt confident with any changes to routine. before then if he skipped a sleep or did something different I had a little freak out. ; )
Hi ladies I have a question.....
Was the transition from wrapping to a sleeping bag (or nothing) a drama? I have put dd down a handful of times with no wrap at all and she always just kicks off the blankets, rolls on her tummy and cries. Or she will go to sleep and then wake after one sleep cycle on her tummy again and cry. It's getting hot so I don't want to put anything on her, but it seems she can't sleep without her legs wrapped to avoid rolling. Should i just use a sleeping bag and prepare for sleepless nights again? Cos I'd rather not.....:(
Tasha we have just always started wrapping only one arm then change to both arms out so only the bottom wrapped and then into a sleeping bag
Iv had no problems with either girls .. I always wanted to get them out of wrapping when it was warmer and also when they started to roll .
Have you tried a sleeping bag ?
What are you currently doing ? You mention blankets , but as it's very hot she doesn't really need them hey ?
With the transition out of wrapping sometimes it can be a few restless nights but I found that both girls were liking it as they could sleep on their tummy or on their side , had more freedom. DD2 loves to sleep on her right side haha
Tasha we have just transitioned to a sleeping bag too. I felt I needed to bc he has just started to roll & he surprised me when I found him on his belly after a sleep. Don't shoot me but we didn't have a problem with transitioning... I think it actually helps bc he was kicking his blankets off & this way he always has something on his legs. I just have a really lightweight bag & he's just in a jumpy with no arms & legs. I put him in a jumpy with with arms, no legs when it's a bit cooler. I just did what you did (I think it was in another thread?), did a couple of sleeps during day in it, then that night put him in. Maybe give it another go, she might just need a bit longer to get used to it? Also my little guy was really tired when I put him in it the first few times, don't know if that helped or not. Good luck. ; )
Cinder, we did the one arm thing over about 6 weeks. Very slooowly lol. But yeah, she's still wrapped in a cotton muslin, just her body and legs. So were looking into sleeping bags cos it's just too hot.
Andie, I won't shoot you! At the moment she's asleep and wrapped. I've just done it loosely the past 2 days and she will go to sleep. but wakes up earlier because she has rolled over. But I did peep in her room yesterday and she fell asleep almost on her tummy Yay!
Oh and another thing, she's waking up at around 5:30 every morning now cos she's rolling around! Argh!
I'm buying a bag tomorrow. Just been painfully waiting for DH pay to come in!
LOL Tasha I just laughed so much at your comment
"I'm buying a bag " lol.. That's little one you are going on the bag !!
Haha
