Oh gawd! I just realised how that looks Hahahaha!
Jack has sleeping bags for the cooler nights but sleeps in jammies or even just a nappy if its too hot. My issue is he moves all around the cot and have to go in and pull his legs free of the cot bars. He is such a wriggler. He rolls over on his tummy then is wide awake chatting to himself. Its doing my head in. And making me tired. I have an air wrap bumper which offers no protection and he just kicks it down and gets his legs through the bars. He ends up sideways, upside down and all over the cot. He is in a sleeping bag tonight so hoping he behaves and I get some sleep.
how's the bag going, tasha?!
vic - how's jack? hope he's figured out how to keep his little arms & legs out of the cot bars so you can get a bit more sleep... ; )
cinder - how's the teething going?
we are well here, my little one is being especially cute atm & I can't get enough of him. might be bc of the 2 hr naps he's decided to have during the day now! we have our 6 mth immunisations next week. although he doesn't seem to react to them I'm still not looking fwd to it bc of the crying... heart breaking. glad it doesn't last for long. he is loving rolling now & is finally happy being on his tummy - never thought I'd see the day... ; )
Pulling herself up on to everything all the time now and standing ..My baby will be walking soon , it's gone way to quickly :(
Vic , you have travelled by car long distance with your little man haven't you ? How did you go ?
Andie, using an old bag I found amongst some of her stuff. She's doing ok, using it for day sleeps and she's sleeping well in it, but when she wakes she moves around and then cries on her tummy. But still sleeping first which is good. I have also noticed how great it is around this age! The last month has been a breeze, they are so cute at this age :)
Vic, have you tried a lightweight sleeping bag or maybe those cot mesh bumper things. That should stop little legs going trough the bars! Hope your getting some more sleep.
Cinder, time to put everything away and lock all the cupboards is it?
We had 6 month vax last week (bit late, been slack haha) All was good, she cried a bit was was fine after. Hate seeing her in pain, even if it is just a few seconds :( Have been using the sleeping bag and she is going to sleep on her side/tummy during the day which is a good start. I am also weaning to formula as my supply is running out. I have been pumping for ages now and it hasn't increases enough so have had to top up. It's gotten to the point where she won't even feed from me at dinner time cos nothing comes out! So I am slowly making the transition. Thinking I might try keep the 7am feed if I can, she doesn't seem to have a problem with that feed. But I'm fine with it, we had a good 6 months worth. To be honest, she seemed much happier once I started the top ups. Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend :)
Tasha - jack sleeps in a sleeping bag most night and his legs going through the bars is only an issue when it's too hot to bag him up. I do have a mesh bumper but he just puts his feet on top of it and pushes it down I would like to buy a thick one but am wary or sids. Jack sleeps on his side too. He rolls onto his tummy and chats to himself then cries as he is too worn out to roll back over. These cooler nights are much better for sleeping.
Cinder- yes we have traveled long distance. 8 hours to Adelaide. The trip over was hell but the trip back was better. I had turned the car seat forward facing but he hated it so we turned it back around for trip home. We also take a thermos of the correct temperature water to make bottles.
We have our six month cafhs visit on Monday. He will almost be 7 months so they have given me the 8 month checklist to complete. Some things he can't do yet but he can do most of them.
Jack is loving day care. He has lots of little friends. The staff are lovely and take special care of him since he is a regular.
Hey ladies :)
Vic, even on a hot night I will still put a thin cotton bag on dd. But we have air con in the main part of the house and she has a ceiling fan in her room. Hot nights suck hey :(
Andie, how did the vaccination go?
Still no crawling here yet. She stiffs her legs out when I try and sit her down and practically holds herself up on them! Hoons around the house in her walker too. But the crawling just fizzled out. She brings her knees up under her belly on the floor, but just can't get the coordination yet. Where is everyone else at?
The bags are working, she now sleeps on her tummy most times. But she wakes with a red smooshed face  She still wakes a little more than usual cos she's crying on her tummy, but shes getting the hang of it :)
hey tasha - 6 mth immunisations were fine, bit sleepy couple days after but otherwise all good. no crawling here either, he likes to be on his feet though, jumping & standing on my lap etc. he's got strong little legs so I think when he starts crawling, he will be off! glad the bag is working for you. : )
Andie, glad the immunisations went well :) It's awful seeing them hurt!
DD can now get up on all fours and stay there, but she hasn't mastered moving like that yet! I gotta say, I'm not in a rush because I can't be bothered having to put everything away  We are having 3 meals a day here, just introduced dairy with oats, weetbix and yoghurt too. So far so good. And water from a sippy cup, growing so fast :)
Hi to everyone else! :)
I'm still here, just been super busy!!
Hope all Mums & babes are doing well :) Don't want to jinx myself, but little Miss seems to be sleeping through from around 9-11'ish through until morning. She woke at 6:30 this morning which wasn't too bad as DH's alarm went off for work at 6. She has a morning nap for 1-2hrs, a midday/early arvo nap for 1-2hrs, then resists sleep until around 7pm. Dream feed anytime from 9pm-11pm.
Haha, everyone seems to be busy, but things here are so cruisy and I am so bored!!! Time to get back into the workforce I think.
Peeks, yay for the sleeping through! I would imagine it is not just a one of, she's at the age now where she can go all night without feeding anyway. We are still doing the dreamfeed, but I have pushed it forward from 10pm to 9:30pm and now dropping 30mls at a time to wean.
Still having 3 sleeps here. 2 hours in the morning, 1.5 in the afternoon (if I'm home otherwise a few short naps in the car etc if i'm out) and 40min to 1 hour in the evening. Bed time is 8pm. She has mastered the sleeping bag now so we are all happy :)
peeks & tasha - sounds like your little girls are finding a nice sleep routine for themselves, makes life a lot easier when their sleep becomes a bit more predictable. :)
we are going well here too, had our 6 mth mchn visit the other day, he was 6.28 kgs & has slid off the bottom of the weight chart. im not worried (and neither is my lovely mchn) as he looks good, is alert & developing beautifully. he will just be a lean, long little thing! he makes up for the lack of weight by being extremely cute, so it balances out. ;) we started solids a couple weeks ago, i wanted to wait until 6 months & to be honest i dont think he was ready before then anyway. we are doing baby led weaning/solids & so far he loves it. i was a bit anxious at the start but watching him taste/play with all different types of fruit/veg (and even lamb chops & chicken!) has been really amazing. he is mostly sucking the juice out of everything atm, but things like soft avacado, roasted pumpkin & banana go down. he looooves brocoli. i do wonder if he is getting enough & have thought of doing a bit of puree/mash as well but i think i will just give a couple more weeks & see how much he is actually eating at that stage & then decide.
his sleep has been changing again lately, was waking for a feed at 2/3am for a few weeks there, but is back to sleeping though again. he is going down at around 8.30pm now, so bit earlier than his 9-9.30pm bedtime which seems to be too late for him now. i guess with the increased activity of rolling & basically always being on his tummy he is getting exhausted by the end of the day. his day sleeps are random, sometimes he will have 2.5 hours, sometimes 40 minutes. sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon... its anyone's guess but generally he will do one extended sleep 1.5-2.5 hours, and a couple of catnaps. things seem to be working smoothly for us atm, and he seems happy & healthy so im happy. :)
Sounds like it's all good Andie :) I would go crazy not knowing what's coming next! But that's what kind of person I just am  And all the exercise is great to wear them out by the end of the day!
I knew I wanted routines with dd. I am very controlling ( not in a crazy bad way haha) I follow routines loosely though, feeds at 7am, 11, 3 and 7pm. Dreamfeed at 10pm. Sleeps at 9am for 2 hours, 1:30pm (or naps if we're out) and maybe a nap around 5pm, bath at 7:15 and bed at 8pm and wakes around 7am. I love it, it works, we are both happy. I am the kind of personality where randomness sends me nuts!!
don't get me wrong, tasha - some days I definately go crazy. like today when I need to be out doing things but his sleep is all over the place. I think he must be doing something important, like figuring out how to crawl (please... not yet...). so I'm just hanging at home to give him the opportunity to have a longer sleep should he decide he wants one. usually I would just go out, but he's been a bit funny past couple days, with his sleeps & poo's. might be working out tummy stuff with all the new foods he's trying atm. Who knows?!
Little miss mastered saying mum a few months ago but now she is saying dad :)
Needless to say DF is stoked :)
But having two little ones is full on .. I'm so so tired , the day never ends .. But they are worth it :)
Hi ladies :)
I don't seem to get much time to sit and post. I do try read through the posts every few days and it's good to see everyone is plodding along nicely! We still haven't done the 6 month immunisations. She turned 6 months old on Christmas day so we would have delayed them until the new year anyway, but still playing catch up with everything else. My big boys have settled into school great! They both have lovely teachers and some of their little friends in their classes again this year :) But I think the change of routine has thrown DS2 - he's been quite a grump and seriously HARD WORK at home! Turns into an angel the second he walks through the class room door. I guess that is better than being a little poop at school though, right? ;)
We have almost got the first tooth! I can feel it with my finger - it's cut through the gum, but hasn't grown up yet! So little Miss has been a bit grumpy too. She sleeps through more often than not. The last couple of nights that she has woken I haven't given her a bottle and she's gone off back to sleep fine. We seem to have a loose routine that is working well for us, but she very rarely sleeps if we are out of the house (doesn't even sleep in the car these days unless she's super duper tired!). She is usually pretty easy going if we are out and about and she misses a sleep - the distractions of new things to look at seem to keep her from getting too grumpy.
Must run, lunch time! :D
hi ladies, hope everyone is well.
my little guy has decided that 3.30-4.30am is awake time. mummy is not impressed. I'm sure it's a phase, but I'd like it to pass now! I don't know how you mums with other older children do it. There must be another level of tiredness that I don't even know about yet.. and not looking fwd to if I have another one. ; )
other than nighttime sleeps, things are still trucking along ok here. we tried watermelon yesterday, he loved it. so, so cute listening to him slurp the juices & watching him have the best time making a big mess of himself. he liked using the green end as a teether, which kept him occupied for another 10 minutes. I need to buy a drop sheet for under his highchair though... it is quite a messy process. : )
Hi girls. Still here but so busy these days. Work is busy, sick hubby at home and teething bubba. Jack still has no teeth yet and is the last one in our baby group thats still gummy. I dont mind though as it makes him a baby that bit longer. No crawling yet thank god. I am loving this age. He is rolling everywhere but not into anything yet. He is happy at day care. Sleeps through most nights but if he wakes its normally 4am for a feed. Ugh thats the worse although I think 5am is worse. It like why bother going back to bed. Must be a growing day. He has dropped a bottle so lucky to get 3 into him. Also not eating as much. He has a runny nose which I have put down to teething. He loves vegemite on toast or cruskets. He likes to feed himself more which is fine on weekends but frustrating on work days. So slow and messy. Andie , try a cheap shower curtain under the high chair.
It sounds like all the bubbas are doing well. Its such a lovely age. They are so interesting and all personality.
Hi ladies :)
Peekaboo, we are still doing the dreamfeed too. I have brought it forward half an hour and I'm reducing the amount every couple of days to phase it out. She doesn't seem starving at 7am so I don't think she really needs it anymore.
Andie, we aren't doing baby led solids and the mess is crazy so I would imagine your mess! Although i do give her toast fingers and fruit to eat herself and it ends up everywhere, even the dogs mouth!!Vic, haha If I have to wake I would rather 4am than 5am too. Sounds like Jack is doing well :)
Cinder, sounds like you definitely have your hands full!
DD is doing great, she has a cold at the moment so a bit sooky. Yesterday was the worst, she woke after a 1.5 hour sleep and 40 snotty grizzly minutes later she was asleep on me on the chair poor bubba. But last night she slept like a log, so worn out I guess. I am loving this stage! She talks and babbles to herself all day, started saying 'dad' even though I'm sure she doesn't realise what she is saying. We started daycare 2 days a week (that's why she is sick!) but she loves it. Only problem is they feed her too much solids so she won't take her bottle. I asked them to half the solids for now. She is going from tummy to sitting up all the time now, even in her cot which is annoying. Crawling backward, but still not forward yet. But all in all I am loving it, she's such a cheeky character :)
morning ladies.
vic - Im fairly sure my little guy is teething too, although no teeth yet either. He likes to gum my chin atm, rubbing side to side. Must feel good but I end up covered in drool. hope you're hubby is feeling better.
tasha - hope your dd is feeling better. it is a lovely stage atm, they are so expressive with their voices & faces. you can tell they are just learning so much by watching everything. I realised I will have to watch what I buy/eat in front of my little guy bc I bought an icecream the other day when we were out walking & he just looked longingly at it while I was pushing him in his pram... I almost gave him some bc I couldn't stand his sweet little face wondering why I wasn't sharing, but 7 months is a bit early for icecream?! it was chocolate too... maybe if it was vanilla?! im sure a little taste wouldn't have hurt...
afm - we are still getting up at 3-4am here. I think he's growing, he feels heavier & looks like he has some chunk back. im quite tired though. I should be showering now while he's asleep again, but yaaaawn. going to have to soon though bc I am desperate for my coffee this morning. had a good day yesterday though. one of those days where you feel like you're the best mum in the world; dishes done, washing done, baby is sleeping, you've prepped dinner, you've been out for a walk to exercise, the sun is shining etc. it was nice bc those days are quite rare! :)
I have a sick bubba. Jack has had vomiting and diarrhea since Sunday. I have taken in a stool sample so waiting to hear what he has. Adenovirus is doing the rounds here so assuming its that. I have not worn so much projectile vomit in my whole life. He seems happy enough though but I am exhausted. Sooo much washing. Last night gave him bottle for bed, sat for half hour with him while he snored on me with spew bag in my hand and then put him to bed only for him to roll over and start vomiting. Was dark and I could hear it. I pick him up and he grabs my top and proceeds to power vomit onto my bra.
My Friday nights sure have changed lol.
oh, no... that's sounds awful, vic. hope little jack starts feeling better soon. and that you have a good quality washing machine... xx
how's everyone's sick little ones going?
I'm taking my little guy to the doctor again today. he has a post viral infection rash (apparently normal), but his face is a bit blotchy too & we had a really rough night last night so wanna get it checked out just in case. We are both so tired atm. : (
Vic, hope jack is doing better by now.
Andie, your little one is sick too? Wow, it is definitely going around. DD has a rash too, well pimply red dots, but the GP says they look like insect bites. I didn't get much sleep last night either, dd was up 4 or so times. Hope he is feeling better soon too x
Well after almost 3 weeks of a cold and now teething again it's not much fun here either :( Biggest, smelliest, runny poohs. DD has become traumatised by nappy changes because I'm doing up to 8 changes a day sometimes! Lucky I bought a bulk pack this week. She has been so irritable and then the MCHN pointed out her front teeth and said they are about to pop out. And sure enough one is poking through. Explains a lot I guess.
So I guess we all have sick, cranky bubbas :(
One question: DD has always woken around 7am since she was very little. But for some reason this past week it has been 6am. It's not cos she's sick because she's waking up happy and plays in her cot for a while first. But the 6am is killing me! What time do all your bubs wake?
tasha - gp said my little guy has roseola, a viral infection. he's much better today, and the rash has spread to his arms & legs, so will be gone soon. he slept a lot today so hopefully he'll be back to his happy self tomorrow. it does sound like all the babies in our group are having a tough time with teething & illness. fingers crossed it passes for them soon.
to answer your question - bubs wakes anywhere from 3.30-4.30am. he's been doing this for a month now. he'll have a breastfeed & go back to bed for another 2.5-3 hrs. I really miss my sleep throughs (8.30/9pm - 6am), but I figure it will happen again eventually. maybe when he starts crawling... he's very close now... : )
Hello :) Sorry to hear we've had some sick babies, not good at all. Emily has had a little bit of a cold on and off, but otherwise she's been fine *touch wood*. She's loving her solids - baby led weaning/solids went out the window though and she's had a lot of mash/pureed stuff. She'll eat anything and everything that I give her! Prefers the food over the bottle at the moment. Most bottles I am lucky to get 50ml into her. She is definitely not fading away though. Wearing mostly size 0 clothes.
We have a loose routine - more so the order in which we do things, rather than based on the clock as it depends on what time she wakes up (usually her day starts around 7am though) and what our plans are for the day. She will usually only sleep in her cot, NEVER naps in the pram, very rarely naps in the car. She has no real bed time, it's just whenever at the moment. Still doing the dream feed, but it's one of the only bottles she actually drinks a decent amount of, so it's all good for now.
We get so many comments about what a happy, smiley baby she is. I feel so blessed. I barely left the house when my boys were babies as everything had to be timed around their bottles and naps, right down to the last minute almost. It's soooo different this time around. The thought of #4 has crossed my mind once or twice :shhh:
Peekaboo, you are crazy! I must admit, I think I am really traumatised by the lack of sleep in those first few months. It is still fresh in my mind and a place that I really don't ever want to return to. Sad because i would love a sibling for dd, but I am worried I will completely lose my mind the next time round. I'm not good at all with no sleep :(
Hi Girls. Jack is much better. He is over the virus. Thank God! !! He is almost crawling, he just needs to get his hands co-ordinated. Legs are movi g but his hands are too slow lol. No teeth. Still!
Jack wakes between 6 and 7 each morning. Its fine for me as I go to bed myself early. I have been giving him a bottle the last few mornings as he was refusing them but seems to want a drink now. He has breaky around 7.30 and then a bottle and nap at 9.30/10. He usually sleeps for and hour and a half/two hours. Lunch around 12. Bottle and nap around 2pm. He sleeps for a couple of hours. Snack at 4pm dinner at 5.30p then bath at 7 bottle then bed. Last 4 nights he has been sleeping through. He used to wake for a bottle around 3am. Since I started giving him snacks through the day he has been sleeping through. He loves dry cruskits. And pumpkin egg free muffins.
I would love a sibling for Jack but at 43 I think my time is done. I am so blessed to have Jack. I miss having a newborn though.
So glad to hear everyones bubbas are a bit better. Sickness sure can test relationships. Its exhausting.
Good to hear Jack is doing better Vic :) Dd moved her arms first and then the legs when she started crawling.
She has cut a top tooth now, it's poking out. Explains the last 4 weeks of grizzling and the last few days of runny smelly poohs. I bought her one of those little tables that plays music and lights up because she's pulling herself up onto everything. Growing so fast!
I am interested in how many feeds everyone is having? (bubs that is lol) DD has 4 and I am just about to drop the dreamfeed.
Little miss has just got over being very sick :( I hated every moment as I'm sure she did .
She is standing unassisted without holding on to anything for up to 5 seconds now .
And a bottom tooth has just cut through :) she can't stop touching it haha
Tasha ,DD2 is demand breastfed so I just feed her whenever she wants day and night :)
good to hear everyone's babies are feeling better. the past week or so has been quite the week. im exhausted.
we have our first tooth too! just noticed it as I was putting him to bed tonight. he started crawling yesterday - well dragging himself around with his arms & pushing off with his left leg. his right leg just taps. quite cute. ;)
tasha - I feed whenever also, but usually it ends up being around every 3hrs, give or take. so roughly 6 times a days still. we are doing baby led solids/weaning so he's not getting a whole lot in atm. although he did demolish cottage pie tonight. :)
I'd almost forgot about this thread lol. Thanks for the responses ladies! DD is formula only now so the feeds are less. We are in the process of dropping some feeds. Two will be half feeds and eventually they will be dropped. She is naturally dropping them anyway, only has about half of what she gets in the morning and at dinner. It seems weird only having a few feeds in a day, but I guess it's her way of telling me she is a big girl now!
so quiet in here... :)
little guy had his 8mth check up (bit late as he turns 9 mths on the 24th). not on the weight chart still, which is annoying bc i think he looks lovely atm! didn't quite crack the 7kg mark, weighing in at 6.93kgs. he's grown 4cm's though, so mchn said he must be putting all his energy in to length. we will have another check in a couple of months, she's not worried but wants to keep an eye on him. i feel the same, so happy with this approach. other than weight, he is developing really well. happy, healthy, he has two bottom teeth now & is working on his 'fangs' atm with one basically through already. still commando crawling around, and popping up on his knees often but deciding that commando is just more efficient at this stage. going well with food, but been a bit off today bc of his teeth. sleep is still all over the place at night... at least 2-3 wakeups usually around 12am, 2/3am & 5am. then up at 7/7.30am. he goes down straight after a boob, often falling asleep during a feed. i think he just needs a bit more comfort atm while he's teething, so while im getting quite tired, im just going with it still (rather than spending too much time/energy re-settling without a feed). we are getting more sounds too which is just lovely to hear. :heartbeat:
hope everyone else is going well. xx
I check in from time to time, but seem to get called away before I can post.
All is going well here. We're still at 2.5 teeth (all on the bottom, no top teeth yet). Sleeping mostly well at night, stirs once or twice but usually resettles herself. Morning sleep is great - she usually only lasts a couple of hours after waking up before she's back in bed, but her afternoon sleep is non-existent some days. It makes for a long afternoon/evening when she's awake from 11am-7pm. We still haven't done the 8mth check-up either. Or 6mth needles  Things have been crazy full-on with the boys and DH's work. Must write myself a note to remind me to sort it out after Easter. Speaking of Easter, is anyone planning on giving chocolate to their little one? Being a 3rd time Mumma I am a lot more relaxed these days, but still not keen on chocolate. Step-Mum told me she'd give Emily a white chocolate frog... ummmm no, I don't think so!
Updated photo - it's been a while! https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...9-5-months.jpg
Cute, peeks! : )
Hi ladies :) I logged on for the intention of posting in here today!
Peeks, how adorable :) I too thought of chocolate and if there is any 'safe' version. I decided she can have a lick of one of my eggs haha.
Andie, if he's happy and healthy I wouldn't worry. How much solids is he getting? Glad to see everything else is all good, we have 4 teeth here too! Argh!
I am working one day a week now, so good to get back into the workforce. DD has 4 teeth! She now has a top front and the one next to it. And the other front and the one next to that are just about to cut. So that will be 6 all together, it's crazy! She can pull up to a stand and stand unaided at her table. Does a lot of all fours with her legs stretched out straight and her bum in the air. Still sleeping all night most nights, she will wake briefly, but goes back by herself. The arvo nap has gone from 1:30 to 2pm and even then she still doesn't look tired sometimes. I try get her down anyway and once she's in her bag and has her bunny she will usually sleep.
I am loving this age it is the best. Love watching her face when she flips the pages in a book. They are like little sponges :)
How is everyone else doing?
Quick one .. Miss 9 months just took her first step !!!
walking already, cinder... wow. soon you will have 2 little ones running around. :)
how is everyone? we are going ok, still not sleeping that great through the night. little one has a sniffle atm too, so woke up 4 times before 9.30pm last night. poor little guy. he is starting to get frustrated again, so I think he will be properly crawling any day now, he is just commando crawling atm. he loves to be on his feet though, but my back cant keep up with him. we have a bday party this Saturday night, first time I will have left him & im not looking forward to it. still haven't decided if I will actually go. definitely wont if he's still got his sniffle. I don't want to leave him but feel I should make an effort. hope everyone is going ok. xx
Andie, how is your little man doing? I heard at this age they have around 9 colds a year! :o That sucks about the night wakings, does he go back to sleep quickly or is he fully waking and crying?
Cinder, first step! I am dreading the walking! You will definitely have your hands full now.
How is everyone else, peeks? Vic?
Everything's going well here and I'm loving it. DD is so clever and cute, sleeps like a champ. She's standing holding onto things and can go one hand. She has taken both hands off twice now, but just wobbled for a couple of seconds and fallen on her bum  Our lounge room is now totally bare. Nothing on the tv unit, coffee table, side table. I have put boxes in front of the power switch that she can reach. Baby gate works magic to stop her getting into the kitchen :) I was going to buy her one of those walker things that they push along, but I'm not so sure I want to speed up the process!
