    Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2

I will be leaving the toilet training until spring. I have noticed the boys in our family take a bit longer to train than the girks so we wont be rushing into it. I would rather wait a few months and make it a painless journey for us both. I am not looking forward to it. The next thing on our list will be a big bed for his birthday. I am looking forward to designing a big boy room for him.

I just went and bought Jack some summer pj's as his ones from last summer obviously dont fit lol. I ended up with a size 2 and shopping in the boy section. It felt so weird not to be in the baby section. Sigh...where did my bubba go....

Hah Vic, yes we are now shopping in the girls section instead of the baby. And I am sad that she is moving into the next room ad daycare She absolutely adores one of the workers in her room, says her name all the way there. It will be so sad!

Jack doesn't go up until his birthday. I love the girls he has now too but the girls in the toddler room all used to be in the nursery so they know him and are lovely girls. Jack will start transition a few months before his birthday. I said to the girls it will be interesting when he goes from his cot to a pallet bed. I thought they would all mess around but she said they are all good and go straight to sleep. She said that Jack is a good sleeper so should not be any trouble. Better them than me lol. The toddler room and the kindy room do a lot together and share play areas. I think he will love it. They have a lot of tiny babies in the nursery at the moment and a few of the kids older than him have already started transition. So he is one of the older bubbbas. He gets to do jobs with them which he loves. Since he has been there since 18 weeks they all feel like he is part of the furniture lol.

Oh that's good he sleeps well on the floor mats. I asked about this because for the last 2 weeks they have been trying to get dd to sleep on them, but she rarely will. They said they will just bring her into the babies room for sleeps in a cot until she is comfortable to use a mat. They also don't usually have trouble transitioning to a mat, so it's just my stubborn dd! It is this year they will move her, but they have to make sure she is ready and they also move them in little groups so they still have familiar faces

Also we are nowhere near ready for a big girl bed. Gawd she would just get out and stuff around in her room if we did! Our cot converts to a toddler bed so it's there when we need anyway.

Had a few suggestions from well-meaning relatives about toilet training here too. I am in no hurry. Having two in nappies is no biggie to me. I don't think she's ready yet, sometimes she will get a clean nappy when she's done poos, but not every time. Haven't thought about a "big girl bed" yet either. I am sure she would just run amok instead of sleeping! She's actually still in our room too so we'll tackle the hurdle of moving her to her own room before we attempt the big bed.

    belated happy new year!

peeks - to answer you question, im feeling tired atm. i think ds might be doing that 18mth sleep regression thing a tad early. he is waking most nights (usually around 3-4am), coming in to our bed, fussing around for an hour, going to sleep for another hour & then he's up for the day. siiigh. im due august 8 but will probably be a week earlier as I will have to have a scheduled c section. I had a little giggle at your toilet training post. my mum reckons I was toilet trained by 12 month. as were my sister & brother. we were all a year apart... so 3 under 3 years... all toilet trained by 12 months...??! I think she might be embellishing a little. my little one is still in our room too, don't worry! how does it work having ruby in there too? do they wake each other?

Tasha - I haven't thought about toilet training yet either really. I mean ive thought about it. as in I don't want to do it! im a bit concerned about how ill go with a newborn & toilet training (perhaps) next year, but I guess ill just see what happens. sometimes when we change our son, we will ask him 'you got any wee's? where's your wee's?!', before we take the nappy away & sometimes he does a wee! same goes in the bath too, although I think its a reflex when his legs hit the warm water - he wee's.

vic - we are just scrapping in at size 12-18 months... so technically I still get to shop in the baby section, but not for long. although I guess ill get to do it all over again soon. your ds's childcare sounds nice, I bet he loves it there.

afm - not much going on after the Christmas/new year excitement. actually, there was no excitement on new years, i went to bed at 11pm. ds is doing well, apart from the sleep thing. we have been at my sisters this past week and he has loved playing with his 2.5 year old cousin. he was even starting to learn how to get annoyed when she took things off him! usually he just stands there confused, then wanders off to play with something else... i think he's a lover, not a fighter!

Isn't it funny how parents always say we did everything so early compared to kids these days? Mind you it was 32 years ago for my mum so maybe her memory is a bit rusty lol. I would expect 2.5-3 for toilet training to be established, but who knows how it will go.
