Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
It is exhausting some days, I'm not going to lie! Then you have days that work out nicely. Those days are rare atm but worth 3 crap days when I get them!
Ds1 has had diarrhoea for past 2 days. That's been fun [emoji53]. Made me glad that he's not TT though... wouldn't have coped with cleaning that up 6 times a day. He seems ok today though, so thankful for that. He's still waking a couple times a night which is getting ridiculous. I hope he outgrows it soon [emoji42]
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hi girls. Just wondering if you have started toilet training and if so how are you going?
DS has been interesting. No 1's were all good and no accidents for over a week until yesterday when he had 2! :wall: He has been a bit off the last few days with a bit of a cold but still!
No's 2 were an issue but seem to have that sorted now. We are 5 or 6 weeks into this TT thing and its still having its moments. I am trying not to remind him now and not make it an issue but apparently he still needs reminding. I know he gets busy and its to be expected. We started off really well but seem to be stuck and not moving forward. He still doesn't pull his pants down but will pull them up. We can go out and about though and he will tell me when he needs to go, and will use a different toilet lol, so it doesn't stress me anymore to think abut leaving the house.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Vic, we had a #1 accident tonight. But it was only because she had done a #2 an hour before bath time so i just let her go nappy free. She sits on the potty, but doesn't seem to tell me when she needs to go anymore. She's also interested in watching me on the toilet. But we haven't started officially started TT yet. I won't bother until she is actively telling me she needs to go every time.
I figure it must get easier the older they get so maybe just put TT on hold for a while?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
We haven't started yet, vic. Although ds insists on having 'turns' some nights. He's more interested in the big loo rather than his potty (of course). He actually did a wee in the loo the other night, but stopped. Then he got in bath and did the rest! So I'm thinking he's recognising the feeling at least. I'm not in any hurry I must admit, having a baby and toilet training sounds daunting atm. [emoji15]
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
How is everyone? Ds1 has reached the stick phase, bashing & digging at the park with the biggest stick he can find. And collecting smaller sticks to chuck down the slide. [emoji51]
No TT still, although he's enjoying making his pee shoot up in the air in the bath, quite funny to watch...! He's still a ball of energy with very strong ideas about how things should be and what he wants. [emoji15]
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hi ladies. I have had so much crap going on at the moment it hasn't been good at all :(
DD has started using the potty by herself so i guess we are now toilet training. She has been so proud of her poohs hahaha. She kept taking her nappy off any chance she got so I figured it was coming. Haven't left the house without a nappy yet though.
How is everyone going?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hope you're ok, Marley&Me. Xx
Still not much interest in the loo here, but he does say poo when he's weeing in his nappy now so he's getting that awareness which is something! [emoji3]
We are finally getting a bit more sleep with the baby sleeping a little longer at nights and Ds1 not waking during the night very often. Thank goodness.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Marley - Welcome to the world of TT. Its an interesting journey. I am happy to hear she is doing poo's on the potty as sometimes it can be an issue. And if she is taking herself your half way there lol. The first time we left the house i made sure if was just after he last used the potty and took a bag full of spare clothes. Jack goes every 2 hours so can usually get home and back by then. If we are out in the car for a long time (being in the country we sometimes are) i pop on a pull up but I dont think he has ever used it. A month ago we drove to Adelaide which is a 7 hour drive and i was stressing how we would go but he went to the loo when we stopped and it was a non event really. I had a pull up in case he went in his sleep but didn't get used. When we were away we popped into the local library for a bit of down time and he wet himself on the mat reading a book. I was so embarrassed but they were very kind. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me
I hope life gets a little easier for you xxx
Andie - I am glad to hear that your littlest is sleeping longer. It certainly makes a difference when you get enough sleep. TT will come eventually. Why rush it lol
AFM - After months of waking between 5am and 6am DS has decided to sleep in till 7am this last week. The Gro Clock has been a godsend. We are at the point now of not really needing it but I still leave it set up because as soon as you get used to something they decide to change it up! He is sleeping well. Down by 7.20pm at the latest and will pretty much sleep through. I cant remember the last time I got up to him. Day sleeps are starting to change. He goes to bed at 1pm and up my 3pm. We and daycare always have to wake him however he has started not going to sleep at all. And copes very well if he misses a sleep. Daycare rang me yesterday to say he did not have a sleep but just laid down for an hour resting. I could not believe he just laid there! I said if he is not asleep after half an hour then get him up. Fridays is our day home and I put him to bed at 12.30pm and he crashes till 3pm. I have to wake him and it takes him a good half hour to wake up and wander out of his room. He must be tired by then.
Is anyone else loving this age? Its such a cute age. Playing hide and seek is our favourite although he cant hide very well :) He gets too impatient waiting for me and rushes out to me and calls out "find you" and giggles hysterically. Very cute. His speech is coming along finally and now i can understand him life is a lot easier lol. Food is still a bit hit and miss. Some days he will eat everything not bolted down others he cant be bothered. One day he loves a dish, the next day he pushes it away.
DH has just been offered a new job. It will involve travel every second week from Monday to Thursday so DS and I will be on our own. He has had jobs working away before but that was pre DS. The money was too good to turn down and its a role he will certainly enjoy. It will certainly be interesting.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
How is everyone? Been meaning to pop in but never seem to get a spare moment to. Both kids are keeping me busy.
Ds1 has tonsillitis atm, poor thing. He's been on AB's for a few days now and seems to be getting better but still has a swollen node on his neck [emoji53]. Other than that he's been going well. Been waking somewhere in between 2-4am and either sleeping with dh (in his room) or sleeping with us in our bed. I ended up in ED and had gall bladder surgery a few weeks ago and wasn't there when he woke. I'm wondering if being in hospital having the baby, then being in ED, then being in hospital for operation has got him worried that I won't be there when he wakes. I don't know... I looking for a reason why he still doesn't sleep through [emoji52].
His speech is coming along and he has just found the dreaded 'why?' word. No TT yet, although he has started telling me before he does pop/wee now so getting there. His nappies are quite often dry too, until nap time or a point during the day when he must go all at once?! He quite often gels me he has a tummy ache then 5-10 mins later he does a poo. Still can't get him to pee in the loo, still prefers the bath?! [emoji15]
He's going through another mum only phase, dh can not do anything right for him atm. He is a lot more interested in playing with children at the park/music class, which is nice to see. He is loving diggers and dump trucks and we quite often go for walks to find them, the spend 20 minutes watching them while the baby sleeps (hopefully!). He also loves hide & seek, and calls 'ready or not, here I come', it's too cute [emoji7].
Vic - has dh started his new job? That sounds full on to be doing most of the week yourself. Do you mind me asking what he does?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Andie - I hope all your all feeling better. Gosh, gall bladder, tonsillitis you guys have been busy. I also hope DS1 sleep is better now your hopefully all feeling better. It can be unsettling on the little ones when something different happens (like you going into hospital)
My DH started his new job yesterday as a maintenance inspector for the government. He was working at our local hospital as a maintenance worker but this opportunity came up to get off the tools and do some paperwork instead. It will be nice on his body as he was exhausted every day. The position is based in our home town but his portfolio of properties is further up the coast so he will travel every second week to check up on how things are going. He is a carpenter by trade so had the ticket they were after. He came home yesterday smiling and said they seem like a "great bunch". We used to have our own business (gardening and property maintenance) which was so successful it meant working pretty much 7 days a week to keep up and not turn away customers. Then April this year a full time position came up at the local hospital which he applied for and accepted the position. It was a good job but the politics drove him a bit nuts. Then this position came up in another government department and he decided to throw his hat in the ring and he got that job too. So now he has a desk job and I said "welcome to my world". I love having a desk job. He used to say he loves working outside but on those cold rainy days or the crazy hot days he used to complain lol.
On another note DS is back to his cruisy self. I ended up putting him back in nappies for a weekend a couple of weekends ago and just back off the toilet training and the next day he was like "no nappy mum, jocks" so now we have not had any accidents in over 2 weeks and he happily goes to the toilet. He still cant pull his pants down quick enough but we are working on it. He doesn't wear a nappy in his daytime sleep and I think I could almost cut out the night nappy as its always dry.
We had our xmas show at daycare and he high fived Father Christmas and happily chatted to him. So much better than last years screaming photo lol. He is loving the idea of Christmas and turns on and off our Christmas tree lights. Its such an awesome age. Sometimes I wonder how I can love someone so much.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
That's nice to hear that your hubby likes his new work people/job. It does sound like an offer to good to refuse, hopefully it's not too taxing on you when he travels.
I can't believe your little guy is doing so well at TT, I can't imagine my little guy going to the toilet like a big boy! Guess he will eventually but it will be odd... growing up too quickly. Although it will be nice not to clean up the nasty 2 year old nappies [emoji40].
DS1 loves the Christmas lights too, it's going to be fun this year now they're older [emoji4]
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Well ds1 is finally going to the toilet/potty on occasion. He even did a #2 in the potty! He was in his bath and I could hear it coming so stopped him and asked if he needed to go and he said yes, popped him on the potty and he did it [emoji3]. Still in nappies and only going a couple of times a day but it's a start and I'm glad I waited for him to show interest bc it's really been a non-event.
Christmas was full on, fun for the kids but too much family get togethers, I'm glad it's over to be honest. Ds1 got a crane truck and a rubbish truck which he loves. And a cash register with a scanner which has been a hit [emoji4]. Ds2 is going well, finally sleeping a bit more (as of last week [emoji6]) so that's been great.
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas/new year. Xx
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Yay Andie. Thats great to hear DS is doing well on the potty. And glad to hear DS2 is sleeping a bit more for you. Maybe the warmer weather is making him sleepy :)
Christmas was awesome. DS got drums, scooter, George pig things. dinosaurs, insects, trains, a soccer net, doctors bag, pirate costume and a heap of other things. Its lovely this age. They dont need expensive items jut a lot to unwrap.
We have done lots of swimming this summer both in the pool and at the beach. DS finally seems to like the water and loves sand. We went camping for New Years and he loved it. We camped at a beach and he loved all the sand dunes and rock pools. He slept really well at night although was too busy for his day sleeps or had half his normal time. Too much going on I think. It was a time filled with cousins and family.
We took our 2.5 seater kayak out camping and it was his first time on it. He didn't like it much as the water was a bit cold when it splashed him but I think he will get used to it. I am sure in years to come he will get plenty of use out of it.
We are now back in work and childcare mode. It was lovely having 2 straight weeks with him. TT is almost a non issue. He can take himself and pull his pants down and most times up. He still likes me to pull them up occasionally. I think its more for mummy attention so dont mind. I thought having a boy would be easy when camping but he will not just go standing up. So the potty came camping :) He wont even go on the side of the road now. He used to but for some reason he chooses to hold on until we get home. DH parents live half an hour away and there are no toilets in between so he has to hold on. Which he has done. No nappies at all now. No night time one either. And so far no wet bed. The boy sure can hold it. He gets up and wanders into the kitchen and I remind him to go the potty and he waits a bit then wanders up to the bathroom. He can hold it longer than me lol.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hi Girls
I hope life with the bubbas is going well. Life here is pretty much on auto pilot. DH has been working away every week this month. It was supposed to be every second week but in between his away trips he has had to go to Adelaide for training. I am coping the best of of all of us lol. The house is nice and quiet and tidy. DS is loving all the one on one attention with Mum during the week and having lots of Daddy attention on the weekends. He misses DH but just gets on with life. DH is the worst lol. He is homesick and feels like he is missing out but we video call each night and fill each other in on the days events.
DS has started swimming lessons. I was a bit hesitant but really wanted him to get used to the water as we are off to Bali in May and want him to be used to the water. He was all keen and excited until we got to the pool and then he kept saying he didn't want to go in and could we go home. But then the instructor took charge and he blossomed before my very eyes. I cant believe how far he came in that lesson. He had his second lesson on Saturday and was jumping off the side of the pool into her arms. FAR OUT! I was a bit anxious watching but so far so good! He has gained a lot of confidence and is walking around the pool like he owns it. I am always anxious when we are in the water together but she is relaxed but very vigilant and he must feel that. I can see now when we go to Bali he will be all over the pool and I will be wishing he was clinging to me lol.
Apart from that he is thriving. Daycare is amazing and his best friend is a little girl who is adorable. She gets a bit upset about her daddy leaving her every morning, but is happy when we walk in and rushes up to DS and throws her arms around him and says she missed him and kisses him. All very very adorable :)
