Emzi - yeh william seems to have recovered from colic a few weeks ago too, much happier bub which makes for much happier mum. loving the less crying.
how big are you and dp, if you arent big people you cant expect to have a big baby. william is big but i am 5"9' and dh is 6"2', so we arent exactly small lol.
william is still feeding 2.5-3hourly during day but goes 8hrs without feed overnight, which makes for painful bb when he increases the flow lol. william sleeps a lot during day but lots of mums at my mothers group are lucky to get 20mins naps at a time. so i would be happy with 45mins if i were you. william has long ones in the morning which gradually taper off until 5pm when he doesnt sleep til bedtime.
william isnt rolling yet, but doesnt seem to like being on his tummy even in the nuddy, but he looks close to rolling from back to tummy lol. he also enjoys being naked and hates getting dressed after his shower of a night so i think this is totally normal behaviour for this age.
glad you are doing alright with dh gone but bet you cant wait til hes home, i count the days til the weekend. and dh only had fathers day off last weekend so poor little ds missed out on daddy time.
good luck with your next round of immunisations, got another month to go here.
berrme - william is getting to the 97th percentile for height at over 65cm tall, but weight in 90th at 6.9kg last week. he is getting close to being in 0 though, he is too tall and feet are too long. william has his 3 month appt next monday so we will see where he comes after that. he is definately taking after his dad, tall and skinny lol.
Every baby is different with their sleeping habits. Amelie is a biiiiigg sleeper. She sleeps from about 6.30-7pm until around 8-9am, without waking during the night. Then she has 2 sleeps during the day, both lasting 2-3 hours. I know it isn't "normal" to sleep for so long at this age. We don't really have a routine, I feed her when she shows signs of hunger and put her to bed when she shows signs of being tired. Apart from at night, I put her to bed at the same time every night and she settles herself to sleep with no problems (usually).
Milly has been really drooly lately! So much so that I have to change her a few times per day. Reason? She has a TOOTH! Last week I noticed she was drooling an awful lot and would get upset when she put her thumb in her mouth. I thought she might have scratched her mouth so I had a look in her mouth and there it was, a little white tooth peaking out of her gums. I couldn't believe it. It doesn't seem to bother her much though, which is so great.
She is rolling from back to front - front to back too!
DS is back at Kinder now, he had 4 weeks home with us for the summer. He was so excited to be going back, he really missed it.

Happy Monday girls, I hope you all had a great weekend! I havent been on for a few days as DH arrived home last Thursday so had a few family days. Was so funny to see Chase's reaction to him after not seeing him for a few weeks. It took him 2 days to warm upto him again. Now he is back to his usual chatty, smiling self. We had a bad night last night so I must have eaten something that didnt agree with him. Not sure if I already mentioned it but I have had to cut out all dairy, soy and egg from my diet as Chase has intolerances to them (same as his dad).
We visited the nurse last week and Chase for weighed and measured. He is 5.3kg now so still putting on weight which is the main thing. 60.5cm long which is good. She suggested stretching his feeds out to at least 3 hourly which I was nervous about but Chase has responded really well, even lasting 4 hours in between some. Has put us on more of a routine now which has made it easier and he seems to be sleeping better during the day as well (even went down for nearly 3 hours yesterday- didnt know what to do with myself!)
Kaydee- Cant believe Milly has a tooth already! I was thinking same thing about Chase as he has had red cheeks and been super drooly but has seemed to settle down the last few days.
afm - william had to show off for maternal nurse again, and rolled for the first time from tummy to back whilst having his 3month appt. my little show off.
and he has started to show an eye tooth, which is starting to push on the skin, but hasnt broken through yet.
well as said he had his weigh in, and the stats are lol:

weight 6.89kg
head 62.5cm
BSK, an eye tooth! I hope the others aren't too far behind or he might look quite odd for a while. Byron got his second teeth across on the top before the middle two, that looked pretty funny.
I had to go back to check my boys red books after reading William's stats. He is about the same size as Edward at 3 months, Byron was even bigger, 7.4kg at 13 weeks... and he was only 3.1kg born. What a piggy he was! They do slow right down after that though so you should get some wear out of the size 0 and 1 clothes after flying through the other sizes.
Emzi, sounds like hard work cutting out all those foods. I guess if DH has intolerances you would have an idea of how to keep a fairly balanced diet without eating dairy, soy or eggs. How could you tell that Chase has intolerances?
It must be pretty weird as a dad to be a bit dispensable when bub is little. I would hate to go away and not have my child really care, IYKWIM. It changes quickly though... soon there will be grins and squeals when dad comes back from a trip and it is really beautiful to watch.
Kaydee, sounds like you have dream baby there. We have been visiting primary schools for DS1 to start prep next year. He is really looking forward to it, and so am I... the house is sooooo peaceful when there is only 1 of my boys in it at a time.
AFM, Alice is growing quickly too. My scales say she is 7kg now, and we have retired the last of the 000s. Still no rolling either. She seems perfectly happy to lie there and look around. Doesn't worry me though, DS2 didn't roll till just over 4 months and then was walking at 8 1/2 months. I would love to have a baby that is stationary for a bit longer to be honest. We gets lots of smiling and giggling and despite the boys being much too rough she seems to adore them.
Day sleeps are going well but she still doesn't sleep very well at night if she isn't in bed with me. We are now getting 5 hours fairly consistently when we first put her down in her hammock, but then there is only about 2.5 hours between the next couple of feeds. So she just comes in with us after she wakes up the first time. She did go 8.5 hours about a week ago but it looks to have been a one off. She will have to go into the cot fairly soon as she is looking rather large in her hammock. I don't know how she will go after completely refusing to sleep in the bassinette, but I guess we will find out.
I joined the gym a few weeks ago and have been putting the kids in the creche there a couple of times a week. Alice has been really good. She is very fussy about bottles, will only have it if it is the right nipple and the right temp etc (she is definitely my most high maintenance baby ), so I have jest been feeding her immediately before I drop them off, and that seems to keep her happy.
Anyway, have folding to do so better go. Hope you are all well.
Berrme - lol at byron being a piggy, they need it for all that growing they do. yes william has definately slowed down, was doing over 500g a week. He is tall still but the weight is slowly lowering on the % scale.
congrats on being organised enough to go to gym, i have just taken to walking around town instead of driving. its much easier with bub too, as i dont have to lug him in and out of the car.
afw: i think he has a cold. He has been really cranky, coughing a little, blocked nose, fussy eater, sleeping less, and waking up every 3-4hr overnight for feeds, which he hasnt done in a while. got appt for him today at 12, and will see what she has to say.
I really need to start checking in here more often so that there is not so many posts to read and catch up on! Sounds like everyones bubbas are doing so well. Must be cos we are all such good mummies Chase is going along steadily. He is down to 4 hourly feeds (occasionally 3 hourly depending on his mood!) and sleeping from 7pm-4:30am most nights. Fingers crossed he keeps it up! Day sleeps have improved a little since I changed his feeds as well which is great! We started going to playgroup this week and there are 6 babies all born around the same time as Chase (2 weeks either side) which is nice.
lissy- Hi! Can't wait to hear all about your little one
bskilner- William sounds like he is growing like a champ! And an eye tooth. Did it bother him when it came through? Stupid question but I really have no idea- what is the 'usual' age they start getting teeth?? How did he go with his cold? DH has one at the moment and Im just waiting for it to travel through the house..
berrme- is a little tough cutting out the foods (especially chocolate!). We first thought he had reflux as he would scream and vomit continuously after and during every feed. We tried Gaviscon etc with not much success so I took him to a natuopath and got them to do alergy testing on him (not the proper allergy testing they do at the docs) and all of those things came up. I cut things out of my diet and noticed an improvement straight away. Have slowly been able to reintroduce a little bit of dairy (skim milk in a coffee once a day) and he seems ok. As soon as I eat any more dairy or eggs, soy etc we have a horrible time! We are going to get him allergy tested when he is older. Have nearly given up BF a couple of times because of it but glad I have stuck with it.
What age is everyone going to start introducing solids? I know a lot of ppl start at 4 months but most of the mums in my mums and bubs group are waiting until 6 months??

Emzi - his tooth hasnt come through yet, its just pushing on the skin, im not sure its even going to come out for a while, probably just going to sit there and wait. I think anywhere from 4 months (some even earlier) to 2 years is when they generally teeth. His cold is easing up now, but still got green snot lol.
congrats on starting playgroup hope you and chase have a good time and make some new friends.
my thoughts go out to you re: having to cut out foods, but glad you got it all sorted out. Hopefully he grows out of it and isnt allergic to everything when he is a little older. I will be introducing food to william after 4 months at the earliest, then based totally on when he is looking ready. Ie starting to push things to the back of his mouth with his tongue and following my food. And starting very slowly, with like a teaspoon for the first few times, and just rice cereal.
Emzi - I read the average age for the first tooth to appear is 7.5 months. Quite a few babies I know didn't teeth until 12 months.
Amelie's second tooth cut through the other day, so she now has both bottom teeth poking through. It's pretty cute. She had no problems at all, just likes chewing on her blankets and dooling everywhere. I ended up buying some special bibs with water-resistant backing so I don't have to keep changing her every hour.
She has her first needles on Monday! Not looking forward to that at all.
Oh and solids; I plan to start Milly around 6 months. She is very content at the moment with her feeds. I waited until 6 months with DS too.

Well I don't know if Ive done the right thing or not but Mitchell has started solids already. He's been watching me eat for a few weeks now & is feeding so so often during the day, it's been crazy. We went shopping 3hrs away when my parents came to visit last week so carted a little sqeezy thing with us in case he got upset & I couldn't pull over to feed him. Lucky we did coz I was trying to find a park in all the school holiday madness & he cracked the BIGGEST wobbly lol. My mum fed him, about a teaspoon in total. She was amazed, appart from the funny faces he's taken to solids no worries whatsoever. So he's now getting approx. 2-3 teaspoons every day or so & seems to be loving it.
Kaydee DS has been drooling like crazy & chewing/sucking anything he can get his hands on too, but no sign of tooth yet. I actually asked my GP when he first started doing it if it could be teeth & he almost laughed at me......Im not impressed.
lissy - A few days before Milly got her tooth I was having a converstation with DH about teething. Saying that a few people on here were talking/writing about how they think their baby might be teething. I said to him "that's not possible, babies don't teeth that early". 3 days later I found Milly's first tooth had cut. It was such a shock and I felt so silly for saying what I did.
Also with the solids, in my baby book they say that babies are ready when they lose that reflex that pushes foreign objects out of their mouths and show interest in food. It sounds like Mitchell is ready, so you just do what you feel is right.
So Milly had her first shots. No problems with it apart from a slight fever, but the paracetamol brought it back down. She is 60cms and 4.8kgs (at 3 months, 3 weeks). A little on the light side but the doctor says it's fine. She is feeding less than what she "should" be. Has about 4 feeds per day, 170mls (sometimes 150mls). She is very happy, sleeps so good and looks very healthy, so I'm not worried.
Well going by that Kaydee he's definately ready, we were having lunch at Coffee Club in Rocky & he was sitting on my lap watching me lift food up to my mouth & then reached for my plate & stuck his hand in my tartar sauce . He hasn't spit any solids out yet, although I tried him on a different jar today & OMG the faces he was pulling cracked me up, too funny.
So a little about us. DS has reflux diagnosed at about 8weeks & is currently on medication, but in the process of a pediatrition referral for stronger meds as there are definate signs it's not working as well as it should (we have screaming hiccups sometimes). He's approx. 63cm long & almost 7kg now, only just starting to get his chubby creases . We are breastfeeding well & he sleeps like a little trooper at night, normally goes down around 6pm & up around 4-6am. I do have some trouble getting him to go down for day sleeps though, he's so alert & doesn't want to miss a single thing. He's started picking up & really grabbing toys recently & chewing them like crazy. I too have many many bib changes a day due to the drooling .
Emzi82 I feel for you too. Cutting out foods was the first thing the MHCN suggested when I started having trouble with Mitch. Dairy to start with & it was terribly hard & didn't make an ounce of difference for him. Apparently the main idea with Reflux is if your LO vomits & then screams/has pain from the vomiting, which Mitch did, you might need medication. We also tried Mylanta to start with & it did nothing, except I ended up wearing it every time I tried to dose him .
Hmmm so question....has anyone else noticed there LO's starting to throw proper tantrums?? I thought I was imagining things, but when my mum visited she said Mitch is definately throwing wobblys. What on earth do you do with one's this little when they do this?
Lissy - sounds fine to me about feeding, he knows when he is ready and if he isnt spitting it out.
I think william throws tantrums sometimes as he seems to stretch out his body and stamp his feet. its a bit funny for a baby to be doing it though. i just tell him to calm down and try to change his position if he does one.
William sleeps through the night most nights from about 7.30-8pm until 5-7am. And he usually has a few sleeps during day of around an hour each. He is pretty good at self settling now. He is feeding around 6 times a day which increases when he is about to have a spurt. He had a few nights this week where he woke up 3hourly overnight, and he is also getting chubby again. so i think there must be another spurt on the way.
he will have his weigh in and needles not next week but the following monday and tuesday. but he must be over 7kg now and pretty tall he is pushing the feet in some of his size 0 outfits, along with the long legs he also has dhs long body.

Mitchell's are full on tantrums, he throws his arms & scratches, throws his head around & stiffens his whole body straight & SCREAMS till he's sweating & beet red in the face. Oh & has held his breath a few times too, my mum stuck a cold washer on his face when he did it last & hasn't done since. Im now wondering what the heck he's goinna be like by the time he's 2 . Mainly its coz he's hungry or tired, but boy its like flicking a switch, he goes from smiling & cooing to full on tanty in 30 secs flat lol.
Im dreading the next lot of needles , the bubs are so much more aware of their surroundings by 4 months Im betting he'll scream the house down. He does settle ok after though, but I think I'll con DF into coming to hold him this time. It broke my heart to have to hold his leg still while the nurse stuck him last time.
Looking forward to next week, I have my first mothers group (run by hosp) on tuesday morning. Apparently they have guest speakers each week for 6weeks & then we're supposed to carry on the meets ourselves if we want to. Ive been really lazy, there are SO many mummies things on around town but I haven't gotten to any of them, heaps of park meets & play groups. A friend of mine has a bub exactly 4 weeks younger so we've really been doing our own thing. Going for a 3-5km walk most days, it's the only time I get out of the house some days lol. But there is a nice kiddies music morning most Fridays & Im determined to get to it next friday.
lissy - yeh william does the same, screams loud then goes into quiet scream whilst holding breath then a massive scream comes out. i swear as well sometimes he tries to hit and scratch me. does the beetroot face thing. i just keep saying "breathe" and "calm down". i dont know if its pain causing him to get so worked up but it is really upsetting.
good luck with mg, i still meet with mine and then there is a group of four of us who catch up more often, and do walks and coffee.
Well my first mothers group today was a little boring tbh. The guest speaker was the physio from the hospital & she just rambled on & on, it doesn't look like the next few weeks are any better. It was nice to meet a few other mums, but there is about a months age difference between Mitchell & the other bubs in the group, Mitchell being the older. Everybody's bubs were soooo small OMG , they all look as though they were premmies. Mitch isn't all that big at 6.8kg today either. Oh well will be interesting anyway.
On another note, Im so pleased Mitch had his first night in his cot last night & he was down for the whole night, woke up this morning & layed there quite happily talking to himself untill 7am!! I put him down the bottom of the cot & snugged the sheet & light blanket down tight but by morning he was almost at the top of the cot & freezing his bum off with no blankets lol. He's been so unsettled for the last week & Ive had so much trouble getting him to go down at night I thought for sure the change from basinette to cot would mean a terrible night. LOL I figured he outgrew his basinette when I found a little bald patch on the top of his head & a mat of hair rubbed into the head of the basinette, where he'd stretched right out & pushed up against it.
We're still waiting for our pediatrition appointment *sigh*, he's definately gone backwards with his reflux since the meds have needed increasing. I hadn't heard anything from their office for almost 2weeks so called ysterday, apparently we're on the 'cancellation list'
I am completely exhausted, we've had my parents, DF's parents & DF's sister & kids stay with us in the last week. Ive been bombarded with baby clothes, I think almost 3 boxs of hand-me downs from MIL & SIL, so we're set for the the next few sizes lol. But thank god Ive got the house back to myself....& bub of course.
