Babies Born ~ March 16th-31st 2010 #2

Miamunchkin, I hear ya on the hair loss!!! I have been losing so much hair in th last 3 weeks, I have to cut it all off next week as it's driving me nuts! After every time I wash my hair (I wash it every 3 days) the shower drain is just BLACK, it's so disgusting. I then have to dry my hair over the bath as if I don't do this it ends up making a nice carpet on the bathroom floor. When I run my hand down my ponytail I get a handful of hair. I have heard/read that after pg the hair loss can be substantial though. When I was pg I had noticed very little hair loss (less than before getting pg) and my hair was so shiny and full. I guess all the hair I acquired during my pg is now coming out! It's about 15 cm past my shoulders ATM (much longer than I usually have it) so I'm going to snip it just level with my shoulders so I can still make a ponytail, but just. Frankly, I just want to shave it all off as it's annoying me that much :wall:
Sorry to hear poor little Fraser went nuts at work....we're about to head off to a 5th birthday party today for my goddaugher with 30 or so screaming kids and many people who have not met Cam yet (which means he'll be handled a lot), so it should be an interesting afternoon :o As for the attention from bub, Cam watches me too when I enter or leave the room, but he doesn't crack the sads when he can't see me, thank goodness. He is giving me heaps of big smiles which is just gorgeous. As for the bottle teats (OMG I think I spelt 'tit' in my last post, oops :redface:) Cam is feeding heaps better on the two hole ones (the newborn have only one hole) but sometimes he appears to be choking a bit so I have to be careful. I think he's not used to the faster flow, but my friend told me to expect it and give him a few days to adjust.

Teresa, I'm sorry Hamish had such a crappy night :hug: I hate when that happens. Maybe he's still not feeling 100% or maybe even going through a late 12 week growth spurt? Cameron will be 12 weeks on 8 June so I'm expecting a lot of unsettled days/frequent feeds around that time. Mind you, a few days ago he fed every 2.5 hours one day and I thought that was strange as the time between his feeds has been streching out slowly. I thought then maybe he's having an early growth spurt??? Dunno. On Friday night, he was fed at 11.30 pm, and he pretty much took a full bottle, so I thought he'd sleep to at least 3 or 4 am.....he woke up starving at 2 am :o but then fed next at 7 am. I just don't understand it! I just feed him when he's hungry, I used to feed him every 3 hours in the begining, even waking him up for his feeds.

Beata - am with you with the teat thing, I just changed bottles because she went up in formula to the tommy teepee ones and also the Aventi ones - have th 2 month ones with these however, the tommy teepee ones Matilda hated. If you tip them up the milk flowed straight out of them so she was gagging heaps. I changed back to the teats that she has to suck to get the milk out and she is drinking OK again. I guess it is all trial and error. As for the sleeping thing and feeding, i always feed on demand which has been around 4 hour feeds, however, she can now go up to 11 hours during the night without a feed. But is very hungry in the morning. I was doing the dream feed later in the evening but figured out the nights I did this she would continue to wake up every four hours, so cut it out and now she is sleeping it through. So now I never wake her to feed her unless I am going out.

Teresa - good to hear you know what is wrong with Hamish. He may have been having an off night due to the fact that he hasn't been well, maybe?

Clare - the hair thing. I heard that you produce more when you are pregnant, so maybe it is getting rid of it now? I'm sure I have heard somewhere too that you loose it aftere birth.

AFM - we have been invited away this weekend for nieces first communion - they have four kids an we can stay with my sister in law. However, is it bad that we are thinking we may not go because of the constant over stimulation and know it will be an absolutely exhausting weekend?

Humanbean - we went straight into the cot from hospital on bassinette level. We have a "family" bassinette that my sister was using as she had a bub in December. My parents were bringing it down as they were coming down to visit a few days after the hospital, so in the end I told them not to bother as we would have been chopping and changing. I have one of those safe and sound roll things, just boughht it from Target. It has two roll things in it and stops her from rolling. I am still wrapping her but I also put a blanket over and tuck it into the roll things, so it feels more snug. Also have a lambswool, that she sleeps on. Cots can be so big and at least that is snuggly.

Con - good to hear about Scarypink fairy. It is good to hear nice stories like that.

bec - what tommee tippee teats were u using? we use closer to nature, and when Hamish turned 3 months we swapped to the 3-6 month teats and they werent fast flowing at all. the closer to nature bottles are designed so that it mimicks breast feeding but in a bottle. makes the baby work for their food.

afm, Hamish is much better. still has a nasty cough but on the mend. now i have a cold!!! oh well. DH coming home on wednesday. so happy. hate being bymyself.

Teresa - not sure they came with the bottle, I have seen those close to nature ones in the shops and it wasn't them.

bec - i love the closer to nature bottles. the teat has an anti colic valve in them. my brother and his gf now have them and are rapt. my mum bought them for them as their DS has reflux and my brother loves them. apparantly their DS doesnt vomit as much on them.

b - how exciting!!! we have friends in toowoomba and looking at visiting there at some stage. Hamish is much better. thank goodness i didnt have to take him to emergency. would have given my workmates excitement to see him and get cuddles tho!! he still has a nasty cough but much better overall. just need to get his overnight sleeping back tho!! i guess that will sort itself out soon enough. what does your DP do? i am guessing a policeman? could be wrong tho.

Mia, I cut all my hair off...and now I hate it being so short...it's at my shoulders but it was down just above my butt. Hair fell out a bit after Harri was born but haven't noticed it as much since cutting my hair.

B, awesome news! fingers crossed everything pans out well for you guys.

When Harri went into his cot (at about 6 weeks) he had a couple of nights sleep where he just wouldn't sleep at all, it was tough but we pushed through and now he loves it and puts himself to sleep most times *knock on wood*

AFM well today I found out that I've won a free glamour photography shoot! includes hair styling and make up for the whole family. Very nice surprise I have to say. Also my very clever Harri bear rolled over for the first time today!!! Very proud of him...I'm going to be putting up the video of him from the Today show on facebook very soon for anyone interested. Hope everyone is doing well :)

Becc, I have been MIA a bit - i feel a little guilty posting in here cos my little man is so good I don't wanna be bragging all the time, lol!
We are using the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles as well - will need to upgrade the teat soon tho i suppose!

teresa - it's good to hear that the anti-colic valve actually does do something to help with your bro's DS, i always wondered if it was just a gimmick. Do you have the valve pointing in any particular direction?

mia - I am using the Heinz but I haven't tried him with a gold one before. If you don't want it I'll give it a go? Where in Perth are ya?

AFM, i'm going just great! Little Blakey is putting himself into a nice night routine now - bath & massage at about 8/8:30ish, wrap him up tight, bottle then bed and waking up about 5:30most mornings for a bottle, then back to sleep until 9! Still in his bassinette in our room, haven't tried him in the cot yet, but i might start him there during the day soon... He is feeding 4-hourly during the day, with a nap between most feeds. During the day he just sleeps wherever he falls asleep - in his rocker, swing, or my arms! He smiles and 'talks' to his toys, soo cute :)
I love my mothers group every thursday, this is the last clinic-organised one this week, so hopefully we continue on ourselves..
Got AF today, first time in a year! Haven't felt any cramps at all either, bonus! But the choccie craving is definitely here :P
OOhh, just found out that the anaesthetist bill i thought i owed $550 on is only actually $95!! woohoo!

Its crazy that this thread can go a whole day without anyone posting but then the next day i look and there's a whole page to catch up on!!! Crazy!

Becc- We've used the tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles since the first week for top up feeds and havent had any probs, i was worried Adrian would have nipple confusion but goes from bottle to breast really easily so they must be better than the slimmer teats. The anti colic valve should be facing up when you feed apparantly. We just switched over to the number 2 teats for increased flow and Adrian seems to be swollowing much less air now as he was sucking so hard previously with the number 1 teats.

munchikun- I havent had any hair loss (well, no more than normal) but i didnt think that my hair got any fuller during pregnancy either so *shrug* hope it stops for you soon. Having said that though i havent had a hair cut for ages and so have heaps of split ends, really need a trim to neaten it all up. I have a beauty voucher i was given when i left work so might use that now to get my eyebrows done and neaten up 'downstairs'. I usually do home maintenance but its never as good as a professional job LOL

HB- we've been putting Adrian in the cot since the second night home as i was worried i would kick his basinette getting out of bed, also, i couldnt feed in bed, just too awkward and uncomfortable, my nursing chair is in the nursery so it just made sense to sleep him in there. I still wrap him up tight for sleep so he seems cosy and comfortable. He sleeps in the basinette in the livingroom during the day or in his bouncy chair. I give him his last feed from about 8 til 9 and then put him in the cot and he'll sleep til 1ish, another feed, then til 5ish and then i bring him into bed with me otherwise he wont settle. Hope Fraser learns to love his cot :)

B- What awesome news for you, congrats!! I really like Toowoomba, its such a pretty city with great views but still has things like a big shops and movies. I think you will love it there. Wrap up though because it is soooo cold and windy up there!

Ree ree- feel free to brag! You should feel proud your doing such a good job and have such a good baby :)

AFM- things are going ok, does anyone know what the signs of teething are? Adrian has been a bit unsettled of late and combined with greeny, smellier nappies, lots of dribbling and chewing on anything in range of his mouth, i think he may be starting to teethe but he is not even 3 months yet? Does this sound like teething to you ladies? And if it is is normal to start this early?

Everything else is pretty good, very busy over the next few weekends. Going to the races on the 12th for a friends engagement party so nanna and poppa are babysitting. I cant wait to get all dolled up with make up and heels!!! I spend so much tuime in my PJs now that the thought of fancy clothes is very exciting!!! How sad am i! Ha!

Have Adrian and DH an i booked in for a photo shoot on the 20th so hopefully i will have some nice pickies to post on fb!

Well the monkey is grumping at me for noms so must dash!

Jellymaker, your not 'sad' at all, I know what you mean about wanting to 'dress-up' and get out. I haven't been out for dinner in almost 3-months, which is a record for us - lol! Thinking of going out somewhere local soon & leaving DS with my parents. I finally fed DS with the bottle on the weekend, or DH did, which went really well so I am excited that he will take the bottle and I can get out more every now and again, we need it for our sanity!

B, a big congrat's on your DH's promotion and the big move, it sounds like you are very happy, so well done. When do you move?

Teresa, glad to hear that Hamish is getting better, hopefully he'll be sleeping better during the nights soon.

Misssawah, enjoy the glamour shoot. I would love to do something like that soon as well, it would be great to have a big family photo in the lounge - and me looking half decent. I think most of the photo's of me with Liam are no make-up, hair all over the place :D

Beata / miamunchkin, I haven't had and serious hair loss yet, which absolutley surprises me, as my hair is very fine and usually falls out something terrible. I hardly lost any while pg and that hasn't changed yet. Thinking maybe that's because I'm still B/F and the hormones haven't changed wildly yet?

Jellymaker, on the teething thing, I'm really not sure, but Liam has starting doing the same things as your baby, although I have only had one greenish nappy which I was a little concerned about, but maybe that's normal. Interested in hearing what the expereinced mamma's have to say on that one.

AFM, just had Liam weighed and he was 6.3kg. He is putting on great weight each week, so happy with that. He is getting heavier to rock to sleep though, my poor back. But I must say it is usually much quicker to do so these days as his much more use to it. Hi to everyone else.

Hi ladies-

Jelly & berry- Grace has had heaps of smelly green poops! It is ok, it's normal for breastfeed babies. On the teething issues- yes it def sounds like teething. They can start from as early as 2 months or as late as 10 months! You will find the teeth won't actually come through until around 5 months, but some babies get the dribbles and aches a bit earlier. My older dd started teething at 2 months and had her first tooth at 5 months. My ds started teething at 4 months and had his first tooth at 7 months. Grace has just started dribbling and such this week- so it looks like she will be an early teether as well. It is different for each baby. You could try some bonjela or something similiar when bub is wingy and chomping on whatever is around.

~b~- congrats on the move!!!!!! yay!!! We have family over there, such a nice place- but i agree with jelly, it's soooooooo cold in winter! I hope you find the perfect place!

ree-ree- you should post and not feel bad! You are suppose to be proud and boast on here...without judgement. I don't think anyone here would have issues with it! We love hearing how Blake is going.

Afm- Grace has found out she has lungs. Between 6/7.30 she has a tantrum where she excersises her vocal chords for about 30 mins off and on. It's the kind of noise that really gets on your nerves! I just tell the kids its normal, and to be thankful she does it then and not at 1am in the morning!

Hi girls - B - love Toowoomba - great place, however, don't like the one way streets everywhere. We used to go there all the time when we lived in northern NSW as we have heaps of friends there!! You will love it!! How very exciting.

Ree Ree - I got my AF today too. I knew it was coming because i had really bad lower back pain and cramping around two weeks ago and I used to get that when I was ovulating! Plus been really moody in the last few days and even had a cry (over nothing). It was very exciting (in a weird way) and was, WARNING TMI.........very worried how I would go with tampons! (I thought for some reason it may get lost!!) but it worked fine!

Anyway, sorry my post isn't very exciting. On here quickly doing this and facebook.

Berry, wow past 6kg wooohooo! strong and healthy!

RE Formula: Harri is on 200ml, we don't have set feeding times yet he will tell me if he's hungry but it's usually between 3-4 hours in between. Rarely will he finish the whole thing and usually leaves about 20-30ml in the bottom. He's on karicare gold and he sleeps through fairly regularly. Over the course of a day he has 5 bottles and every now and then (say once a week) he'll have 6. HTH :)

So glad everyone is doing well!! Not much to report here, apart from the fact that little bum bum slept from about midnight two days ago (yes I know it was late...but he had a pretty unsettled evening) to 7 am :o Last night he got a feed at 10.30 and didn't wake up until 4 am. Sooooo happy about that, he is definitely going longer between feeds during the night! Even during the day, he is feeding every 3.5 to 4 hours. He still takes about 100-140 ml per feed. If he only takes 80 ml which sometimes happens, he will only last for 3 hours.....

I have an almost full tin of S26 Gold, I will happily send it to anyone who is using this, don't really want to throw it out....

Little chubba is now so heavy, I need to start seeing my osteo for my back pain, 6.3 kg!!!!!

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted because I left my iPhone on top of the car while putting Angus in and it got run over and then I was using the laptop in bed and Angus projectile vomited all over the keyboard! Will have to catch up on personals later.
Angus is becoming more interactive with lots of smiles and has just started 'talking'. Oh and I went out with my best friend last night for dinner and then we went to see sex in the city - it was a great night :-) DH and Angus got to have some male bonding at home too! Anyway we are off to meet with the padre who will be doing Angus' Christening next weekend. Hope everyone is having a good weekend :-)

Tiah discovered her hands this week, and that she can put them in her mouth. Drool is now all over my clothes, mixed with the usual vomit haha

I also had my first huge block of time away from her (4 hours and 15 minutes) I spent the entire movie (SATC2 - it was awesome) texting DP and missing her like crazy. Tiah??? Slept the entire time while her dad watched boxing :)

yay Tiah for finding her hands...I thought Harri was just trying to suck his thumb when he started trying to put his entire fist in his mouth a couple weeks ago, until they told me he was just discovering himself.

Nat, what are you doing for Angus's christening?? are you doing anything afterwards?? Harrison's naming day is on the 20th and the ceremony is set but I'd like to do something afterwards I'm just not sure what. Hope it all goes well for you though, poo about your phone :(

Afternoon ladies

Not much happening on here this weekend, hopefully because we are all out having fun somewhere.

Meercat- Adrian found his fists about 2 weeks ago and now all i can hear is suck, slobber and drool! He keeps trying to suck on his spit up cloth when i burb him too and have to take it away from his mouth before he bites it LOL

AFM Very happy that Adrian has slept through the last 2 nights from about 9-5am, trying to push back his last feed to see if he can make it to 7ish. Hope this is a pattern and it sticks, they say most babies sleep through from about 12 weeks so he is right on schedule.

Im a little p***y at one of my friends atm. She was meant to be having her engagement party at the races this weekend, and after bying a hot new pair of heels (Purple no less), accessories, hat and shawl, AND altering the dress i was going to wear for the day she has now suddenly changed it to a dinner in the city! Now we have to reorganise baby sitting and i cant wear the outfit i went to so much trouble for! She does s*** like this all the time and she is such a flake! I doubt she'll actually go through with the wedding too. Grrr so annoyed!

Anyway, thats my vent.

Afm- i have new mummy class this morning. I hope Grace behaves and doesn't get cranky! She has her needles after lunch....not looking forward to that, i hate the look they give you as if to say 'mummy, it hurts'! It makes me cry everytime!

Jellymaker, great news about Adrian sleeping through, that's great. Can I ask how many feeds he is getting a day and do you bottle or BF? Liam sleeps from 9pm to anywhere from 3am to 5am, but mostly wakes at 4am. He usually feeds 6 times a day, and the last one is short (only feeds one side), was only just wondering if maybe I need to increase his feeds to encourage a longer sleep? Also very annoying about your friend. I can't understand why people change plans like that so drastically. I hope you enjoy the dinner.

Liam has found his hands as well - lol! I read that it isn't unusual for them to suck on them so hard that they gag!

Hi Beata, I hear you on the back pain, oh my gosh!! Liam is also 6.3kg, he got weighed correctly last Tuesday. The week before that the doctor told me he was 6.5kg :o but she weighed him with clothes & nappy on and didn't use digital scales. I have started to rock him to sleep sitting in the rocking chair, which is really helping as I use to stand. Trying to get DH to give me a massage, but haven't managed to get one yet.

AFM, Liam is smiling and making such beautiful cooing sounds now and seems to be much more responsive. I was feeding him a couple of days ago and he was making these grunting noises and was pulling himself on and off the boob, he looked like a little animal - lol. I just looked at him and laughed, then he stopped looked up at me and smiled! Lovely to start seeing that awareness and response.

Well I'm really annoyed because this morning I wrote a long post and then it got lost somehow. So I need to make sure I copy it to my clipboard before I click post!

Meercat - that's great news about Tiah and her hands. Angus has started to do the same and at first I thought he was doing it because he was hungry! I went and saw Sex in the City 2 as well! I went with my best friend and we had dinner and a ****tail beforehand, so I didn't get home until after midnight (6 hours later).

Misssawah - Good luck for Harrison's Naming Day. We are having an afternoon tea afterwards at our house. I was going to do it in a hall near the Chapel but I was worried about transporting all the food. We're just having a few quiches, sandwiches and other finger food. Hopefully it will be ok as there are a few kids coming and our yard isn't that big.

Jellymaker - Lucky you getting him to sleep the whole night. We were thinking about starting to establish more of a night time routine - and even putting Angus into a cot when we move in two weeks. Although we are going to Canberra in the middle of winter, so I'm not sure if I want him in his own room just yet!

Con - I hope the immunisation went ok. Angus turned 2 months today, but we missed out on the times at the community health centre, but we will go to the local library on Thursday morning. Also, hope you had fun at your mummy classes!

Berry - Angus is doing the same with lots of cooing and smiling - I love it! Also, I had been trying to get him to look up and strengthen his neck muscles when he is having tummy time. He didn't really respond when DH and I were trying to talk to him, but as soon as I put his mirror (one of those lamaze ones) he kept lifting his head to look! This morning he even pushed himself up on his arms to get a good look and then gave himself a big smile - definately his father's son! ;)

AFM - I used to feel bad leaving Angus on his own during play time, but I've left him on the mat a couple of times while I do other things and he really entertains himself, which is great. The inlaws are coming to stay for a week on thursday :wall: Hopefully they help a bit more because last time MIL never once offered to cook and expected me to wait on her up until I was induced at 42wks (which of coarse I didn't - but still..) DH's other 4 children will be staying with us on the weekend as well and that will be exciting as they haven't met there little brother yet!

Evening ladies

Nat- i always copy my work before hitting post as i HATE losing my posts!!! Adrian has always slept in the cot in his room but now the nights are getting colder i bought a small convection heater that i will put in the hall outside his room to warm up that end of the house. Thankfully if Adrian keeps sleeping through i wont have to get out of my warm bed all night but that 5-6am feed is still pretty chilly! Adrian coos and gurgles heaps and his gummy smiles light up my day, he tries to smile while i feed him though and my boob pops out of his mouth! LOL Adrian goes both ways in that he loves to be cuddled and is a real snuggle bug, but at other times just wants to be left alone to kick on his mat. My mum didnt believe me when he was having a grump and i told her to just put him down but she did and voila! He settled immediatley. Glad Angus is growing so well. I sometimes think Adrian is a little too strong as when he fights against me it is really hard to hold on to him!

Berry- I am still BF Adrian and on demand so its hard to tell as we dont have set times to feed, usually when he cries, but I would say anywhere between 6-8 full feeds a day? I usually feed him up fully right before i put him down at about 9-10ish but am trying to keep him awake a little longer so he sleeps til later in the morning. I would say feel free to give him more to eat, and see what happens, it cant hurt, its not like babies are goldfish and will forget they just ate, they will stop if they dont want anymore :)

Hope all the other mummies are doing well, keep up the good work ladies!

Jellymaker, you are doing really well given you are demand feeding. I am as well to an extent, just don't let him go longer than 4-hrs without a feed and I give him the 9pm feed while his still asleep. I use to offer both sides that feed, but he only ever fed one side, so I gave up and just put him back to bed. May start offering again and see what he does.

Nat, like the mirror idea. May try it during tummy time as well. Liam is so strong he has been holding his head up pretty much since day one. He is now holding it up for quite a while and looking around. How cute that Angus smiled at himself. I leave Liam on his playmat on his own at least once a day, usually first thing in the morning while I'm running around putting washing on etc. I think its good for him to entertain himself. He is usually happy on his own for about 20-mins. I play with him a lot during the day, so I think its fine, he certainly lets me know when his not happy! Good-luck with the In-laws, I hope they are helpful this visit. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate, so don't go running around for them will you, remember your the one with the newborn. Well I tried putting Liam in his grobag for the first time tonight, and it was a disaster! He fell asleep after his feed and I was about to put him down when his fist goes straight into his mouth and then he wakes up crying. He is usually wrapped, so he can't do that. Was so annoying. Ended up taking him out of it and wrapping him. Will try it another time. Must say the grobag seems quite small around the neck area, its a 0-6mth size, but I am doubting he'll fit into it up to 6-months. I'm starting to think that maybe I shouldn't have bought him one just yet.

well its so cold here at the moment. we are leaving the heater on overnight just to keep the house warm. by morning the house is so nice and toasty that i turn the heater off around 7 and it gets turned back on around 6 that night. i really hate winter. much prefer summer time!!

well Hamish is 17 weeks old today. need to make an appointment for next week for his 4 month needles. definately not looking forward to that. i hated the 2 month ones!!

well Hamish flipped from his tummy to his back last friday. it was so exciting. he is also soooo close to rolling from his back to his tummy. i dont think it will be much longer before he does.

Hamish has been putting his fists in his mouth now for weeks. i thought it meant he was hungry so thats why we tried him on rice cereal. he is definately not ready for solids yet. lol i didnt realise it meant he had discovered his hands.

i am having so much trouble with a friend of mine. she keeps avoiding me and had a couple of snarky comments made to me yesterday on facebook. one that didnt make any sense regarding my status update, and the other one having a go at me for not going to the movies with her on saturday night. she asked me last monday night if i wanted to go on the weekend but said she would get back to me on the day. i hadnt heard from her by friday so we made plans for saturday night, then saturday at lunch time she sms'd me to see if i wanted to go out that night. i told her i was busy but how about sunday arvo. she said she was free. never heard back from her. anyway i left a mesage on her fb profile yesterday about going to the movies this weekend and she started complaining coz she was soooo busy over the weekend coming and the only day she had free was last saturday cos she kept it free. she keeps avoiding us because of Hamish. she desperately wants a baby but is having trouble and keeps miscarrying. its really upsetting me at the moment.

b - yeah she did. she also told me she has been "insanely busy" and hasnt seen friends outside of work but i know she has.

b - u r right. we had issues 5 years ago, then it took her 2 years to apologise. i forgave her and now she is behaving like this. another friend of mine says that just because u have a couple of miscarriages, doesnt mean she can behave like this. she said that she understands about the miscarriages coz she has had a few but its not nice to do what she is doing. she really hurt me 5 years ago and now she is doing it again. i think i will just let it run its course and die out. i dont want Hamish around someone so self centred and self absorbed. thanks for listening b xx

teresa - sounds like you need some time out from your friend. Friendships are never the same after a fall out and it sounds like she is still holding a grudge. It's just not worth it - life is too short.

~b~ - great to hear that Ewan is growing heaps. Fraser is also into 00 - they are generally a great fit, but a little long in the arms. Guess it gves him something to grow into.

Nat - good luck with the inlaws this time. I also leave Fraser on his playmat happpily playing for about 15 mins in the morning while I get a few things done (and grab a coffee). Fraser has also decided that he loves music TV, so I have also been guilty of strapping him into his bouncy chair in front of the TV while I get things done. I'll probably get some criticism for that, but he REALLY loves it - laughs away and gets upset when the ads come on!

Berry - we also tried Fraser in a Grobag (I agree about them being a bit tight on the neck) and he hated it! I must say, today I have just put him down for a sleep without being swaddled as the last week or so, when I go to get him, his blankie is dripping in drool as he fights until he gets his hands up to his mouth. I thought he might be a bit more restful now that he knows how to control his hands, and it seems to be working, so far. I will still swaddle at night though. He also has a Mother's Pouch cot sheet, so he is still under that, even though on my last peek in, his hands were up in the air.

Jelly - that's great that Adrian is sleeping through. He must be one happy little boy!

As for us, all is going pretty well at the moment. We've had a few nights in the last week where I have only had to get up once to feed Fraser, which has been great! Makes such a difference to get a bit more sleep. He's 13 weeks today - I have no idea where that time went! We also had our first "Baby Splash" class last week, which was brilliant! Fraser absolutely loved it! Can't wait for this week's session! The mummies did a class afterwards, which absolutely killed me! My arms are still sore! She probably didn't work us as hard as I thought she did, but I'm a pretty weak swmmer and found it tough! Has anyone else taken their LO swimming yet?

Teresa - I would take a break from her, she doesnt sound like a good friend. I had to be strong when I was pregnant... a girl I had stopped speaking to a year before was so insistant that she wanted to be my friend again, calling, emailing and complaining about missing me to mutual friends. I stood strong though because I didnt want her influence on my child. The day Tiah was born she made a point of joining a group on facebook - "Just because you can reproduce doesnt mean you should" - I think I made the right choice in ignoring her!!!! Miscarriages or not - she should still be there for you!

Mia - I want to take Tiah to swimming but I cant find anywhere locally that does it :( The local swimming place doesnt take them until 6 months! I am glad someone else admits to using the TV as well! I dont do it often... but if I need to do something or just have 5 minutes to myself I put her in her swing so she can see the TV..... I figure 5 minutes of TV is better than me going crazy. I also know that when she is by herself with her dad he has her watching boxing, he denies it but I know the truth!

B - Tiah is still in 0000 for Tops and 000 for pants for her long legs. She is a beanpole!

I just had Tiah giggling for the first time. I rang DP at work and made him listen to me doing Cookie Monster noises for ages until she would do it again :rofl:

Is anyone elses pets driving them insane? My once spoilt cats are behaving so badly, hiding in Tiah's room, refusing to move, MEOWING into her face when she is asleep during the day in her pram. I have always had them inside only, but I am seriously considering putting them outside soon.

yeah my dog wont stop humping my leg and when i try and push her off she growls and tries to attack me!! she only does it when i am in the rocking chair with Hamish lol

Hey Girls - sorry been MIA again. Yeah Teresa - you don't need negative people like that. I had a friend like that, that was really hard work - wouldn't speak to her for a week and she would think she did something wrong. I am still friends with her but really distance myself and it is fine. I don't mind speaking to her now, but it is only birthdays really.

Meercat - yah for Tiah, Matilda cacked up in the bathtub the other day, when my DH and I were there, she just went crazy and didn't stop. She hasn't done it since, but gee it was funny.

Teresa - I can't believe Hamish is 17 week s - how time flys!

Teresa- i agree with the others, ditch this friend, it sounds like she is leading you on just so she can cancel on you. I had a friend like that once and she was all about having the power in the relationship and being in control. Needless to say we are no longer friends. Stop putting in so much of the effort and if she is a true friend she should pick up the slack, if not, then i guess she wasnt worth it.

Berry- i have two grobags but havent used them yet as we still wrap Adrian up at night and i have started putting him under the blankets in his cot. I figure i'll get him used to being tucked in and then get rid of the wrap, hopefully he will be so used to the top covers he wont thrash around and wake himself up. Will try the growbags soon.

Nat- Adrian doesnt really seem interested in the TV but when our apple TV goes into screensaver mode which is all glowing moving lights,he likes to watch that. Adrian will play on his mat happily for about 20mins or so alone but if you lie next to him and play with stuff too he will last much longer, kinda defeats the purpose of getting stuff done tho, LOL.

B- Adrian is in 00 stuff now too, its a little baggy in places but that means he'll get more use out of them :) Anymore news about Toowoomba?

RE- Pets- I have an inside cat and an outside dog. The cat has become real clingy and is ALWAYS under my feet which is really dangerous and annoying, she doesnt pay any attention to the baby though which im glad. As for my dog, my DH quit smoking 6 months ago which was good because he used to play with the dog while smoking outside, but when he stopped smoking he stopped going outside as much and the dog got used to not as much playtime, it was good he did that early so the dog doesnt associate the baby with less playtime. She seems curious and protective about the baby but she is not coming within 6 feet of Adrian until he starts walking. Pet psycologists say that dogs dont see crawling babies as human because they are on all fours and see them as another animal invading their territory and can be aggressive, but as soon as a baby is on two feet the dog recognises it as human and a part of the family. For those of you with inside dogs, becareful when your babies start crawling.

AFM- today must be the day for giggling babies as Adrian giggled for the first time today! I actually jumped up and down it was so cute. I hope he does it again soon for DH because he gets so sad when he misses things and this would pick him right up :)

Well, better go and get tea on and have a shower before DH goes to the gym (Finally!!!)

Hi Ladies, just a quickie from me too, my brain is a little mushy atm!

I did want to say a HUGE thanks for all the advice regarding transitioning DD into her cot from her bassinette. She is now having day sleeps in her cot, in the cot itself :dance:, and still in the bassinette next to our bed at night. She seems to have adjusted pretty well after a grumpy few days, but it really helped putting the basinette in first, then laying down a towel (securely) over the cot mattress that I'd slept on for a couple of nights. I'm being selfish keeping her next to us during the night, but we're still BF on demand too and although she only wakes at approx. 2am then 6am for a feed, I still don't want to have to go all the way down the other end of the cold house to her room to feed! Considering she crashes out most nights at abour 7pm I'm pretty happy with how our nights are going.

Has anyone flown with their LO's yet? Or earlier children? We're heading interstate in a couple of weeks and I'm a little nervous as it will just be DD and I, with a few connecting flights, but she's pretty cruisy so I hope feeding on landing and take off will take care of any unsettledness.

Human Bean - I agree, your not selfish! I have Tiah in the room andI plan to keep her in with me as long as possible! I love being able to see her from my bed and that she can see me if she needs some reassurance :) (Ok I need the reassurance wayyyyy more than her haha)

hb - dont worry u r not being selfish. the only reason i put Hamish into his cot full time when he was 12 weeks old was because i was getting really tired as when he woke overnight i was up for 2-3 hours each time with him as it took so long to settle him. i found by him being in his cot overnight, it enabled me to get a better sleep and he slept better too. plus now when i feed him in the early hours of the morning (between 3-5am), he is still drowsy and goes straight back into his cot until between 6-7am.

afm, Hamish really got a giggle up yesterday. it was so cute. and he is soooo close to rolling over. anyday now!! he is going thru a wonder week too so i am finding him much more clingy then normal. he is having catnaps during the day but sleeping thru the night which is great. only wish he didnt wake soooo early! lol

i have also decided not to talk to this friend much anymore. i spoke to DH about it and said that the message she sent me, she is waiting for me to apologise and i have nothing to apologise for. i am going to let the friendship "die out". i dont need people like her in my life. i have better friends out there. thank u guys so much for listening to me. i feel like all i do is complain lately! so sorry to keep venting

good morning ladies

i forgot to tell u that my brother FINALLY met Hamish last week. i went to my mums for my stepdads birthday and he and his gf and their kids turned up. anyway my brother looked at Hamish but didnt acknowledge him the whole time we were there and then proceeded to tell me that i knew nothing about raising a baby (HELLO I HAVE A SON HERE) and that i was stupid. i almost walked out of there as it was coz their baby who is 7 months old (was born 9 weeks premmie) had gastro. i would never take Hamish anywhere if he had gastro. i didnt even leave the house, other then to go the doctors with him while he had bronchiolitis. anyway their baby isnt even rolling over yet, they put him on his tummy in bed to sleep, his head is half the size of Hamish's but he is a little bit longer then Hamish in length. i think i am the only one concerned about all of this. my mum said that he is in all proportion to his body and my brother has a small head so that would make bjay have a small head. at least my brother actually looks in proportion!
