LJ, just make sure the actual pot comes out of the slow cooker - I believe most of them do now anyway. If it's in your price range, there's a new one out (can't remember which brand) that has a pot that you can use on the stove so you can brown your meat without using a different pan. Our's is a 4.5l sunbeam and it's my best friend at the moment!
