roxxie- great question; I agree with Polly A, if you have a clean supply in your area and you are making it up at the time you need it (I make up the bottles I need for the day in advance) then I can't see why it would be a problem. I'd google it if it were me, ah google the answer for everything ;-)

Shel1- From early on I made sure that during the day I had as much natural light on Tobi as possible during wake times but I put him to bed in a dark room because he is such an alert baby he would not go to sleep otherwise. With my first two though I would try and get them to sleep in the lounge or pram just so they got used to sleeping anywhere, which worked. Goes to show every baby is different and you have to adapt to them. Any way I think having the natural light does help to get the day and night sorted out, so keep up the good work.

Being a Mum is the hardest job in the world I think, but also the most fun and rewarding. Keep up the great work, especially you wonderful breastfeeding mums.

QB - I so agree with your statement - Each baby is different and you just have to adapt to them.....and when you just have it sorted...they change and you have to adapt again!!!

PollyA - About two weeks ago, Soph must have had a big growth spurt and she was on a feeding frenzy at night too...last for two to 3 weeks and now she is only up at 3.30amish. What more can you do than ride it out!!!!

Shell - How did the day sleep go in the cot?

Well - we are on night number 4 of only a wake up at around 4 in the morning!! Yay!!! and night number 4 that toddler hasn't woken with night terrors!!!! Yay even more!!! Fingers crossed for more of the same!

Soph has changed so much in the last couple of days. On Sunday she worked out she move her little hand and grab and pull something to her mouth. It is so cute to watch the concentration as she lines up her hand to grab!! Gorgeous... And the laughter now...beautiful!!! Loving this age!!!

Thanks QB great advise :) yeh Hannah has alays slept in swing/pram/sling or on me lol
but she isnt going to have the pram or swing forever so i want hert to start using her bed as a bed for day as well u know, iv always kept the house light and with noise during the day and she seems to be able to sleep good with this environment except for the obvious loud noises where she startles .

We got a 25 mins sleep in the cot yesterday i had a look at her a few times and a couple of times she was just laying awake ion the cot , which was fine with me as she wasnt crying coz she was in there, and then i would go in and she would have eyes closed , i knwo she can self settle which i love .

U guys make me laugh lol no offense but with ight sleeps Hannah has only ever gone 4 hours without waking hahahahha iv never had one of those all nighters or 8 hours like u all say lol ..i dont mind as it has me used to broken sleep and getting up.. she had a shocker last night but the last few nights its been wake up at about 12 after 4 hour sleep then 3 then 5 or 6 ,i so dont mind waking for feeds or to re settle but its the nights when she wont settle or cries or screams when u put her down that are hard..we have not had one for a little while now which i am thank ful for :) so girls think yourself lucky that u have had an all nighter at all :)
Although i prob would not be able to sleep if shedid sleep right through as when it gets to almost 4 hours i am always awake seeing if she is ok lol cant help it :( and then she will make a breathing noise and i am like ahh back to bed for me :)

I agree LJ i love watching Hannah grab toys off us now when we hand them to her and she puts them straight to her mouth, she grabs her foot now when laying down and the concentration doing it is sooo cute.all she wants to do it sit up not lay down god laying down is for babies lol if she could talk thats what she would say.. when we put her on her tummy she moves her legs like she is crawling and she does manage to move a few CM's .....she is growing up way to fast and i want to stop the clock

she also says ''mmmmm'' all the time and it always sounds liek she is saying mmmmuum :) i think that will be her first word i know her dad has been saying mum to her all the time god love him

who co sleeps ? if so how do you guys do it? i find that about 4 or 5 if she wont settle i end up half laying half sitting on our lounge with hannah in my arms and we go to sleep that way

We co sleep- its fab! Just take her to bed in the early morning hours with you (instead of napping on couch),. I put a towel down incase of small spews or breast milk dribbles, and let him fed while i lye on my side and go back to sleep. Good idea to be sure your doona is not over bubs head and maybe take a layer off her (get hotter with the body heat alongside).

Isnt it amazing how much these babies are growing and changing now?
Ciaran is into grabbing and pulling on things now, and occasionally stuff goes into his mouth. We were given a small carousel with music when you wind it up - he LOVES it!

Am considering getting an Ergo Carrier as he is 7kg and the bjorn isnt as comfy now he is so big. Anyone got an Ergo?

We have an Ergo, got it when DD was 1 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it, While DS was little we have used a HUg-a-bub carrier, we used a Baby Bjorn last time but found DD outgrew is really quickly.
DS is also about 7kg but I find the Ergo is still a little wide for him, he has to do the splits, he seems to like it though. I would highly highly recommend it. You can wear them front and back and it super comfy but it might be couple of months before its perfect. WE used it for DD when we were travelling. 2 and 1/2, 15+kg and it was great. Customs is SO not toddler proof. She didn't have to walk as far when she was tired and I am sure it saved us a couple of tired tantys. So you will get LOADS of use out of it.

We are trying cot day sleeps again today--- i started them before but gave up bad me,she was sleeping for 5-10 mins a couple of days it was 25 mins

Cass was Robert asleep before you put him in or just sleepy..

Hi Shell... sorry I haven't been on here the last few days. I had put Robert in the cot when he was asleep, but one day I just put him in when he was just sleepy and he ended up sleeping for well over an hour.

I feel like I've had my boobs out all day today!! Robert has been feeding every couple of hours and taking his time at it too. In between feeding he was sleeping. I'm thinking we have hit another growth spurt!

Oh wow our bubs are growing up so quickly! Getting close to 4 months old. I just can't believe how time has flown.

Well Lenny has just about outgrown the bassinet and I just don't know what to do. I put him to sleep in the cot some days but not very often. We can't actually fir the cot in our bedroom so I don't know what to do. I don't want to put him in another room, also the only other room is DS1's room and I don't know how he would go sharing. DS1 loves to climb into the cot as well. He is such a cheeky boy I just wouldn't trust him. So I just don't know what I am going to do.
Lenny also has a TOOTH coming through, he is dribbling and really restless as night. We spent our first night on the lounge together for a long time as he just wouldn't settle and kept grizzling. I also think he is going through a growth spurt, always on boob too!!!

Baby Expo was full on, brought my SIL 40 Baby beehinds nappies. SOOO Jealous. I just don't have $750 to spend on nappies.

We also have an ergo carrier it is awesome, bit hard on lil babies thought. Better for when they are a bit bigger, it is true they have to kinda stretch their little legs around you. I brought the infant insert (heart to heart) but never really got the hang of it. I still use the ergo to carry DS1 though and they are very worth the money you pay! I had a home made hug a bub (3 mtrs of stretch fabric) and it was awesome and still is. I never have had a baby bjorn as I think it's not so good for them when you face them outward as it bends their back and neck a bit.

The little man slept well last night. He went to bed at 630 then was a bit grizzly around 8 so I gave him a feed then he didn't wake until 340 and he's still asleep now!! :)

oh and coz Hannah's gums are so tough ands hard now when she just plays while feeding sometimes it feels like a hite OWWWCHHHHHH

All is dandy in my camp but ask me again this time next week and it may not be the case. Its school holidays next week :wall:

Peppar is just adorable. I love this age, the real little person she is becoming, the whole face smiles, the hearty giggles, the concentration looks on her face when she is trying to get something, the cheeky smiles she gives me when she is supposed to be feeding and pulls off. Everything is just sooooooo cute!

She is still sleeping well at nighttime but has started waking earlier at around 4am now. Its fine though cause she settles straight back down after a quick feed so I cant complain.
Her days sleeps are still hit and miss but if the house is quiet (Daycare days) then she sleeps really well. Scout home days, hmmm not so good. :lol:
We are using a bassinet that doesnt have any legs on it and it sits in her made up cot so I am hoping that when she grows out of it (which I am thinking is not too far away) we wont have too much of a transition problem as its the same space just be a bit bigger.
Our only bugbear at the moment is that she wont take a bottle. Formula or EBM. She has taken the odd one but only from me so that kinda defeats the purpose. She has never taken a dummy either so I guess she just doesnt like the different sensation in her mouth. I have got a new teat though which supposedly emmulates the action of the nipple when feeding so I/DH will keep trying cause I would like to be able to leave her at some stage.

Baby brain here so I dont remember who was asking but I have just bought an Ergo carrier and I am loving it. Peppar seems to love it too and falls asleep easily in it but can also still see around enough to be happy in it awake.
I have a Hug a Bub too which I also loved but was a bit of a mission to get it on and off and also Peppar got hot in it.
I 2nd what someone (sorry cant remember who :shakehead:) said in that the HAB is great for new babies and then graduate to the Ergo.
I got it at the baby expo which was great by the way, really recommend you go when it comes to your town. I spent way too much money and could have spent so much more for all the bits and pieces they have out now for babies.
When I think back to my first born 13 years ago we/he didnt have half the crap I have for Peppar now :rolleyes:
I keep telling my DH that I will ebay everything when we are done because I am not having anymore babies :cry:

I got an Amber teething necklace and bracelet, not that she is teething yet and history tells me she wont be for months. My boys were all late teethers but it was one of those things that I wanted to try so I got one. Terrible arent I?
My new favourite things though have to be the baby legs. So quick, easy and cute. Peppar only wears dresses because after four boys I want her to be the little girl I have waited for, for so long. So with her dresses she wears tights but these things are sooooo much better.

Also got The Mummy Shake. I have only been using it for a few days but it is full of all the nutrients and vitamins we need to keep feeling on top of things. It also has fenugreek and brewers yeast in it too to help with the milk production.
I will let you know how I get on with it and if it is worth getting. You make it up and have it for breakfast if your naughty like me and usually skip it but you can have it at anytime.

Well thats about it from me I think I have rattled on enough about my my lack of impulse control purchases :lol:

I had such a scare last night from Miss K. She was asleep in her craddle and I awoke to hear her gasping for breath. The little cheeky turd had shuffled herself closer to one side of the craddle and rolled halfway over in her sleep- so her face was down on her materiss, but angled towards the side of the craddle also. I rolled her back over and moved her back to the center, only to get up twice more during the night to move her again and when her dad got her up at 730 when her got home from work, he said she was back there again and wide awake laughing and smiling.

I am heading out soon to by a secure sleeper positioner thing (I know what I am talking about but not sure what its called- stops baby from rolling over in bed).

I think she also has a tooth trying to push through. Her poor top gum has spot that looks like a tooth just under the surface (rest of gum looks normal).

Hey Shell its called "The mummy shake" , the perfect whole food supplement. It does say for breastfeeding but it has all that good stuff in it that we woman need.

Ä quote off the back of it says "A premium whole food formula that targets milk production,body replenishment and balanced serotonin levels"

Its chocolate flavoured powder that I mix up with 200mls of either milk or water and knock it back.

Their website isnt up and running yet but it says its for mind health too

Also i am totally ok with drinking while breast feeding in small amounts , but i have not had anything to drink as yet but iv been craving a glass of wine lol, has anyone noticed it has effected there babies in any way? like wind not sleeping for example ?

Im with you Shell - those gums are hard. Not looking forward to teeth emerging.... :p
Re drinking and B/F – I have a 1/4 to /1/2 a glass once or twice a week and its such a small amount it doesn’t to anything to bubs, but gives me a taste. After not drinking for 12 months I don’t think I have enough alcohol resistance yet for more than ½ a glass anyway!!

Feijoa - the mummy shake sounds interesting. I already have shakes for breakfast that we buy (through MLM company USANA) which are low fat and great for when I dont have time for breakfast (which is often!) cause im to busy doing the washing or tidying the house to feed myself. :wall: Was thinking about those teething necklaces - have you had one before? I just missed the baby expo here (didnt realise it was on) so thats prob good as Im resisting spending money on non essentials at the moment.


Cant believe how fast this baby is growing and changing... he is really grabby these days and holding onto stuff (small rattles in the car etc) and wants to touch things in front of him alot. He is also very chatty, but seems to be getting more so!

I have taken your advice and bought an Ergo from Ebay (brand new, with baby insert for $145 - bargain!) so look forward to using that instead of the Bjorn as he is to big for it now.

In other exciting news, i have my first client booked in for July with HypnoBirthing, so that is exciting - I didnt expect to be doing it so early, but having a good baby helps and I seem to be coping well generally or I wouldnt even be considering it. So anyway have been flat out most days doing study to review what i need to teach, and using my cousin who is 30wks pregnant as my practice client.

Have also been getting into my weights program at the gym at least once/twice a week so enjoying that. Hopefully the results will start showing soon, but even now my tummy doesnt look post baby anymore!!

Think my boy is having a growth spurt, as he slept alot yesterday and fed heaps ;)
