Trish - good to see we are keeping you out of mischief! LOL
Arte - oh I just spotted your sig - Scientist, Artist, Adventurer! I love it.
Well ladies I am very excitingly going up to the school in about half an hour to sign Missy E up! . They have kindly included her in the sibling category even though H is not longer technically at the school, so we don't have to go through the whole interview thing again. I have been trying to talk to E more about school and what happens there because she's deadset against going at this stage . I'm going to see what we can do about some extra visits over and above the 2 x orientations they normally do. Next year will be here in no time!!
Are anyone's kidlets starting big kids school this year?
MD, I was just thinking about school before I logged on! W is starting when he turns 5. He is stressing out about it already lol, but I think once he does some school visits and sees what it is like then he will be fine. We are quite lucky because our kindy is next door to the school and they do a series of visits in the term prior to the kids starting over there. And if everything goes ahead with the move to town we will be only two houses away
My biggest concern is the uniform and shoes/socks. If he likes them then no issue, but if he doesn't like them/feel comfortable in them then I am going to have a massive battle every day . He has managed to wear long sleeved tee's and pants nearly every day of summer 'cos he still won't wear the new shorts and tee's I got for him!
Arte, Maybe include the uniform as part of his preparation for school? Once he sees that all the other kids are wearing the exact same thing he might not be too bad with it?
MD it will be next year for big school for A. The don't do enrollments till 3rd term when they have their open day and in term 4 they do their orientation program which is two half days and then 2 full days over 4 weeks. I'm thinking he'll be fine at this stage, but getting him to go on the bus might be tricky. I'm hoping that in the next few weeks I can convince him to go on the bus to preschool.
hi girlies
long time no speak sorry! yes trill is fabulous and we got along famously. i think the icing on the cake would've been if A could've been there too cos we decided that L and A would've been great old mates.
school- arrg! don't freak me out already!!! yes L is going next year. he is going to the local school which is about 5 mins drive from our house. his best mate is going there and i would say about 80% of his kinder class will go there too. apparently on orientation day they simply walk them across the paddock between the kinder and the school and the kinder teacher even hangs around for the day to help them settle in! he has also been there a few times to pick up his best mate's older brother who is currently in grade 2 so is familiar with the environment. he is really excited about it and always asks me when he can go there. i tell him to stop growing up so fast!!!!
Awwww all this school talk is making me teary!!!! Our kids are getting....BIG! like, school-aged BIG. faarrrr ouuuuutt!
Miss L will start next year. We have orientation in October and for L it cant come fast enough lol. We live basically diagonally opposite the school and it's about 5 minute walk away (so we get to go past almost every day lol). her neighbour friend goes there and the majority of her new kinder friends will also be going there. I hope that it will help her feel ok about it all. TBH i dont have any real concerns...i know that it will suit her to a tee (she loves order lol).
MD: do they do school tours? that can be a good way for Miss E to get a feel. go to a few lol. and bribe her with hot chocolate 'date' with you afterwards...positive association and all that jazz lol
Arte: oh yeah, the new clothes thing lol. I reckon bite the bullet: buy his uniform now and slowly work it up into his wardrobe that way, it wont be new by the time he goes lol!
G: I tell that to L as well lol. I find that her whole demeanour and shape and face etc have changed and grown so so much in the last few months, it's mind boggling.
AFM: all good here. we had our first wintery day! i even wore a scarf! it might of been overkill, but hey, make hay while the sun shines isnt that right Trill We will get th car! yay! pity that i cant bring it home with us lol.
not much to report really. We are trucking along nicely, I am enjoying the spoils of a good Aussie $ and cheap US clothes, the girls are in their groove now and have a nice little routine happening (which generally involves, playing for 5 minutes, screaming at each other for 1 minute, whinging at my feet about what the other did to the other for 20 minutes, followed by 'can we have a snack/watch tv/eat hello kitty jellybeans/OR all of the above lol).
Cally, I wonder if her funky ears might explain some of the tummy stuff she had happening? I hope she doesn't need the grommets but if she does it sounds like you have a plan.
This is where we need Leemar! Her boys had grommets didnt they
Can she still do all her swimming with them? I hope that it all clears for her; can't be much fun.
Oz: how long is your DH working away for again? I have a terrible memory ATM... btw, i love seeing all your beautiful photos and updates on the business. truly amazing stuff woman!
MP: no less than a year! i wish that this trip was either shorter, or longer. We are really stuck between worlds where you need to set everything up, but dont want to do too much or spend too much investing in stuff we need ITMS.
AFM: all good here. Took the car for a drive today!!! So weird driving on the other side of the road lol. we went to beverly hills and west hollywood along sunset boulevard. pretty awesome. unfortunately the girls have the lurgy of all lurgies and we couldnt really stop anywhere. but will have to go back to WH as it is TOTALLY awesome. vintage clothes stores galore!!!!
Cally, nothing has arrived yet. My DH informed me that there may be a trip to Canada for him this year. Not impressed. I have issues with him traveling the world while I am at home doing his share of the domestic stuff as well as my own!
Cass, hope the girls are feeling better
DH came across his old mini disc player (backed the wrong horse there lol) and gave it to W. I just walked into W's room to find him reclined on the bean bag with headphones on listening to Linkin Park!
Low sugar diet didn't really happen - I sent him off to kindy with a good lunchbox, then DH stopped on the way home and let him pick a giant cookie for lunch!
I'm a little bit excited. A whole dumbstruck, and a little bit pooping in my pants lol. We were soooo not trying lol. But yeah, guess we shoulda taken more attention with the birds and bees talk
DH is pretty excited. he is also freaking out a bit about logistics (ie our travel plans, the appts and scans etc), it's just very very surreal. we have never fallen pg easily, so this is just weird lol.
Cass, I am super happy for you! I am picking boy! How very exciting! I am sure that everything will work out nicely and you were already planning to be home a bit earlier, it was meant to be
