Arte, Maybe include the uniform as part of his preparation for school? Once he sees that all the other kids are wearing the exact same thing he might not be too bad with it?
MD it will be next year for big school for A. The don't do enrollments till 3rd term when they have their open day and in term 4 they do their orientation program which is two half days and then 2 full days over 4 weeks. I'm thinking he'll be fine at this stage, but getting him to go on the bus might be tricky. I'm hoping that in the next few weeks I can convince him to go on the bus to preschool.
hi girlies
long time no speak sorry! yes trill is fabulous and we got along famously. i think the icing on the cake would've been if A could've been there too cos we decided that L and A would've been great old mates.
school- arrg! don't freak me out already!!! yes L is going next year. he is going to the local school which is about 5 mins drive from our house. his best mate is going there and i would say about 80% of his kinder class will go there too. apparently on orientation day they simply walk them across the paddock between the kinder and the school and the kinder teacher even hangs around for the day to help them settle in! he has also been there a few times to pick up his best mate's older brother who is currently in grade 2 so is familiar with the environment. he is really excited about it and always asks me when he can go there. i tell him to stop growing up so fast!!!!
Awwww all this school talk is making me teary!!!! Our kids are getting....BIG! like, school-aged BIG. faarrrr ouuuuutt!
Miss L will start next year. We have orientation in October and for L it cant come fast enough lol. We live basically diagonally opposite the school and it's about 5 minute walk away (so we get to go past almost every day lol). her neighbour friend goes there and the majority of her new kinder friends will also be going there. I hope that it will help her feel ok about it all. TBH i dont have any real concerns...i know that it will suit her to a tee (she loves order lol).
MD: do they do school tours? that can be a good way for Miss E to get a feel. go to a few lol. and bribe her with hot chocolate 'date' with you afterwards...positive association and all that jazz lol
Arte: oh yeah, the new clothes thing lol. I reckon bite the bullet: buy his uniform now and slowly work it up into his wardrobe that way, it wont be new by the time he goes lol!
G: I tell that to L as well lol. I find that her whole demeanour and shape and face etc have changed and grown so so much in the last few months, it's mind boggling.
AFM: all good here. we had our first wintery day! i even wore a scarf! it might of been overkill, but hey, make hay while the sun shines isnt that right Trill We will get th car! yay! pity that i cant bring it home with us lol.
not much to report really. We are trucking along nicely, I am enjoying the spoils of a good Aussie $ and cheap US clothes, the girls are in their groove now and have a nice little routine happening (which generally involves, playing for 5 minutes, screaming at each other for 1 minute, whinging at my feet about what the other did to the other for 20 minutes, followed by 'can we have a snack/watch tv/eat hello kitty jellybeans/OR all of the above lol).
Big school next year, I presume we will be like Trill and there will be something for enrolment Term 3 and then orientations in Term 4. Our local is less than 5 minutes walk away and we go pretty often as K likes playing at their playground. At this stage I doubt she will know anyone there. Most of her daycare friends are going to the Catholic School and those that aren't are likely going to the public school in town. Oh well, she'll make new friends I'm sure.
MD - I didn't make DH get the stool sample on Valentine's Day. The packet is still sitting in the bathroom - she did one yesterday while I was at the gym and he forgot! Chance is gone until next week now though as we are heading up to Canberra for my sister's bridal shower tomorrow after preschool. I'm not that desperate to get a sample to carry it interstate with me!
MD, Erin was an adventurer when she was little, rolling and wriggling all over the place but since she started sitting she now just sits on her butt all day - perhaps I should change my sig to The Bureaucrat.
Cass, slipping clothes in won't work with W. I am just hoping that he will be alright because everyone else is wearing it.
More sugar musing - I didn't stop eating sugar when I was BF Amelia because she didn't get grumpy and reflux but she was a chronic catnapper and stayed up to 10-11pm every night. Today I gave in and ate a couple of pieces of brownie and E was hard to get to sleep, didn't sleep for long during the day and then stayed up until 10pm. Coincidence?
I have talked to DH and I am going to trial a very low sugar diet for the kids (specifically W). I noticed today that he was tantrum central after having a couple of pieces of that evil but delicious brownie. Will see how behavior goes this next week...
Hi girls! Sorry have been Mia and hope you all still love me, lol
I'll just jump on in bc how could I possibly catch up
Arte the sugar thing will be interesting - I reckon you are onto something
I know mu boys generally have much worse nights on the days they are with my ILs!
Trill - I am so sad I didn't see you when you were here. Hopefully next time it will work out. Sounds like you had an awesome time.
G how goes the moving plans?
Cass - loving your updates.
Hi to everyone else
Afm all is well. Dh is back on Saturday after 2 weeks.. Has been a hardnjuggling act but all ok. Boys are great - j is pretty much toilet trained - it was quite easy as he just decided and off we went! Has some days w accidents but most with none.
Noah is getting so grown up- loving 4yo kinder. Yep he is starting prep next yr - but obi he is already at the school so no concerns ther. He just walks upstairs and puts on a uniform (which he is so excited for)
Better go - am so exhausting - single parenting plus full time work = total exhaustion (to top it off I went to syd for a
Presentation on Tuesday!)
Will try to keep up
X
All this talk about school makes me sad. L is loving pre-prep and is one of the more out going kids and a real leader (according to his teachers). I think he will love school. Not sure where he will go yet, just one of the local ones though. Z started daycare one day a week 3 weeks ago, we had a few tears in the morning last week but doesn't want to come home at pick up. She is toilet trained now (day time) which is great, she was even accident free at CC last week and it was the first time I sent her in undies.
Arte we reduced sugar when L was having lots of meltdowns and it seemed to help.
