Hi guys, just wanted to pop in quickly, will try and catch up properly soon.
Sorry I have been awol, the reason being that 'something' got spilt on my laptop (I may have been having a cheeky half glass of wine at the time...), and it fried the screen. But it is finally running again now, after lots of tlc, so just crossing my fingers that nothing was permanently damaged.
The other reason I have been a bit quiet is way worse however. A few of you may remember my BFF has been undergoing IVF, and during 3 cycles she has miscarried twice, once at 10 weeks. Recently she called to tell me that she was 12 weeks pregnant, and we were both so excited, albeit still cautious, given her age (43) and past experiences. She then got a 1 in 5 chance of downs syndrome from her nuchal test, so went in for CVS. The results came back very quickly, and I don’t know exactly what the issue was, but she let me know that they had a termination the next day. I am just feeling devastated for her and her husband, it is so unfair. There is really nothing that can be said or done, I know, but I am just so frustrated at the bloody cruelty of the roller coaster that conception and pregnancy can be.
Anyway, lately I haven't put any status updates about Yves nor pictures on fb, as I feel like that would be particularly tough on her. But it is great to have our little fb group that is separate and cosy, so I will catch up on there soon.
lct, am so sorry to hear about your BFF's devastating news . I can't imagine what it must be like to have that hope dashed and go through termination. Has she talked to you about it or not yet? All you can do is be there for her when she's ready. I know you're a good friend and of course want to treat it sensitively. Look forward to Yves updates when the time is right. Thinking of you buddy.

Fuzzy, a trip to Russia sounds amazing! Do you have a Russian background, or are you just drawn to the country/culture? My DH would love to go. How's your darling girl, still fussy? What are you doing with your parents this weekend? You're so right about W being 'normal' and was likely having a growth spurt; things settled down a bit in the latter part of the week, phew. RE: naps, usually at least two long ones, both in the early part of the day; much harder once we hit early afternoon. I always try and re-settle at the 45 minute-mark, but I can kinda tell by her face whether it's going to work or not! So if it fails I usually get her up and try again when I see tired signs. Much to my shock she's been having brief naps in the Ergo (normally hates it) but doesn't sleep as well as she does in her bassinette unfortunately.
Peanutter, sorry you're crook again. Are you a bit run down perhaps? How's your DS today, still a bit of a screamapus, or better?
Elocin, was great to hear that C is feeling a bit more like himself this morning. Bet you're relieved. Have a fabulous weekend lovely lady.

As I mentioned things are a bit more manageable here; earlier part of the week almost certainly a growth spurt (can't believe stupid me didn't see it coming) and feeds/sleeps are much better. Have only been having one wake-up between 9:30 and 6:00, which is incredible as we haven't seen them for about a month. W is very chirpy and starting to show a determined streak - she loves tummy time but really wants to be on the move, and buries her head into the playmat and squeals when she can't shuffle towards her toys! Makes me laugh. I bought some loud dangly things for her pram and she's obsessed with them, makes going out for longer periods much easier. DH has also been zooming her around the house like an airplane, and she gets so excited she gets all breathless like she's been out for a run. I love this stage!
LCT, that is just so horribly sad how devastating for your friend. You are so kind for being mindful of her needs right now... What a wonderful friend you are

My babe is still unwell so we are off to the GP tomorrow to get things checked out. I spoke to a registered nurse on the phone tonight and he said they dr will probably just give him some drops and it sounds like viral conjunctivitis.
Mum and I hit the baby expo this morning with C sound asleep in the ergo... Lots of yummy stuff to drool over and free samples
DH off to golf in the morning and my parents are heading back to Coffs. Quiet day for C man and I.
His eyes looked gross and it made me cry, but he was so happy and woke up with a massive grin on his face. He had a huge fed and then projectile vomited all over me & himself. I asked him if he was ok and he giggled at me.
lct so sorry to hear about your friends loss, you sound like you are doing everything you can to make things as easy as possible ffor her
elocin- poor C, hope the eye drops work quickly. At least at this age its not so hard to keep them still to administer the eye drops

we are slowly getting better, think I need to sleep for a week straight to make up for the lack of sleep this week. We have been co-sleeping the last few nights, hopefully we ca get her back into her room tonight. Its very cute when she wriggles up behind me in her sleep and spoons me. She did it to my DH the other mornng and started sucking his back lol
buffy glad W is more settled, DH loves this age he finds its when he bonds better with them when they are a bit more interactive
I have a quick question for those of you who have had bubs before. The last few days I've had a huge increase in watery CM and I'm wondering if that means AF is on her way back? Has anyone had anything like this?

Crusty eyes has cleared up after a couple of days of eye drops.
Rainy cold weather up here at the moment which makes for good baby snuggling weather... If only the baby would comply. He's far too busy trying to watch the tv and chew his hands.
elocin - good news about the crusty eyes clearing up! not sure about af - i can't remember what happened last time!! i have been feeling like im going to get it tho - have had some ewcm & have been feeling a bit down & have an achy back.have you had any other sorts of indicators?
Elocin you might get a few threatened AF's before the real thing hits, I get spotting and irregular AF's when breast feeding but normally I'm regular as clockwork.
All still full of snot here, it's dragging on now. Hoping to send dd1 to school tomorrow

Mentioned on FB that Willow fed pretty much all night last night, I'm a zombie; but poor DH is worse, he's doing 12-hour days and started at 5:30 this morning. Can't wait til end of fin year, we've barely seen him these past few weeks.
Kinda regretting introducing a dummy - it's a great sleep cue and W drifts off quickly, but needs me to put it back in when she wakes at the 45-min mark (about a billion times!). The sound of the tummy hitting the bed is so frustrating! Luckily she doesn't need it at night - yet...
Question for you guys: what's the perfect Christmas pressie for DD @ nine months? Thought it'd be a good time to layby, with the toy sales happening at the moment.
My DH isn't keen on noisy plastic things, but I keep telling him she'll probably love them.
Sorry I've been so MIA of late ... just stupidly busy, not getting to the gym, not getting enough sleep, toilet training this week, and the house is A. Complete. Disaster.
I just want to take a week off work and clean it! And exercise.
I need to get ready for The Stampede in October, and my fitness needs to be right up there for it!
But Judah has slept through the last 2 nights, I still have an awesome stockpile of EBM, blog is going great guns, and work os mental.
DS1 just adored books, so we got a couple of box sets ...
In terms of toys, he didn't get into stuffed animals until quite renently - so it was all plastic and wooden things he could run around him, blocks to stack, those wooden bead things on coloured wire, etc ... basically, things the can't throw too far, and which are easy to clean when they get put in their mouth constantly!
And music. He loved music at that age (still does!) so maybe a CD player for their room, so you can play calming music at night?
Or a gro clock? Never too early for one of those, from what I hear
DH and I are hitting the shops tonight and I think I'm going to get the big Tonka truck for his Christmas present. There's the Dr Suess book pack at Big W for $50 as well so I might get him that as well.
Nutter, hurrah for sleep-through! I think you should take a week off to recoup, not to clean!

Well, it's the House of Unpredictability here. Good night, bad night, good day, bad day. Ages settling, drifts off easily. Happy, chatty; squealing, crabby. Am currently on dummy patrol with my little miss, who has spit it out 20 times. And it's only the first nap...
I woke up, realised DH wasn't in bed, rolled over and fell straight back to sleep.
The end.
Oh, and DS1 did a poo in the potty this morning that was so big that if DH was the disgusting practical joker type, I would have suspected it was his ... thankfully, DH is not that kind of guy. DS1 just did a poo the size of his head.
And yes, I have crossed the line where disgussing my child's bowel movements is kind of normal ... I just make sure I don't do it with people who don't have kids, and who are still under the illusion that it's not a valid topic of conversation
Helena won't be getting much this year for christmas as we have heaps and heaps of baby toys, might be one or two toys and some clothes. I usually aim to have everything sorted fro christmas by the begining of Novemeber but I am yet to buy a thing! Its getting harder now as DD1 has been making requests and I dont want to get something now for her to change her mind by christmas time. I do know the bigger girls are getting a DVD player each for their birthdays for our road later in the year.

Peanutter yay for poo's in the potty. Im a Mum and a nurse so poo is a frequent topic of conversation for me. Never dreamed there was so much one could discuss regarding bowel motions until I finished un and had children
We are over our colds at last apart from a few residual running noses. The girls hae madde friends with the boys that live three houses down so I can see lots of backwards and forwards between the houses from now on to play! Great that when they go over there I can watch from the front door and make sure they are safe without having to wake Miss H up if she is asleep! Helena is feeling better again and starting to chat, she keeps trying to grab my nose but her co-ordination is so poor I have been poked in the eyes numerous times! Everyone is sleeping at night time again which is nice, makes me feel slightly more human. I still have a heap of house work to catch up on from when we are unwell, unfortunately the cleaning faries keep missing our house, must by some fairy lights to guide them in.
