Vic, there are so many things that COULD have caused the rosy cheeks - teething does it to so many kids - unless E is showing signs of being unwell (lethargic, too sleepy, crying more than normal) i don't worry about checking her temp. she is a happy soul, just like CJ, and i figure she will tell me when she is feeling off. you're doing the right thing getting her checked now - but don't beat yourself up over what you could have/would have done differently - it's past now - focus on what you can do now for her. as bella said - the more she can fight off on her own, the better it is for her in the long run - boosting her immune system etc
Bella - it's frikken COLD here! we live in a lovely little valley, surrounded on all sides by mountains, and somewhat isolated from everything - but our lovely little valley seems to get a lot colder than anywhere else locally (and a couple of degree hotter in summer - we have our own little weather system it seems!). we've had frosts and heavy heavy fogs the past few days - lovely driving to work at 6.30am, heavy fog, stuck behind a logtruck going up the mountain lol
ok, quick update on where we're at while E is happily playing on her own (so if this seems to abruptly end, you know why)! - E is coming ahead in massive leaps. she is the most delightful little girl to be around (most of the time) - all the developmental leaps are messing with her sleep and things though. she isn't sleeping at all well - it's not too bad for her as she is able to sleep through the day as often as necessary - not possible for me, esp on work days! i can usually push through tired and keep going. i'm hitting the point though that there is no more push left. i'm feeling physically ill from exhaustion a lot of the time. it sucks big time. her sleep isn't really that bad (maybe 2 wake ups in 10 hours most nights) - but i'm not sleeping properly myself due to some issues i've mentioned previously (money etc) and then to be woken when i finally crash by demands for a feed from her, it's hard going!! the other night was a particularly bad night - fed at 9, awake at 11 for another, then twice more. the third time, around 1.15, she decided she didn't want to go to sleep. she wasn't crying, wasn't wanting to DO anything, just didn't want to sleep and wanted to be feeding the WHOLE time - at FOUR we finally got her off me and into her own bed. it wouldn't be so bad if she stayed attached, but she comes off and on heaps at the moment (i think to encourage another let down)so i have to help her or get mauled by her little fingers (and she's none to gentle)
on top of E's sleeping (or not! lol), we're having a lot of other stuff going on (getting shafted for the work we did for friends is a big issue in my head at the moment), being messed about in an effort to sort our financial issues, my mum has done some damage to her shoulder, so runnign her around for tests and things on my days off, organising E's birthday party (i so wish i had it in me to NOT micro-manage - i just can't help it), stressing when i find out that my parents, who are paying for everything in return for the work we did in their yard, have bought six bags of chips and NOTHING else! cooking savoury stuff for the freezer ready to go blah blah blah - i'm sure you've all heard it or lived it yourselves. anyway, the fatigue is getting to me. i've typed half of this with my eyes closed, tryin to stay awake. i am suffering migraines again, and when i'm not getting nasty headaches, i'm feeling nauseous from exhaustion (and for someone with something of an upchuck phobia, nausea is bad!! nausea brings on anxiety attacks, which brings on more nausea!) as much as i am of the belief that once C is at work he should work a full day and get the most pay he can without more travel, i really would like him home about now - i feel cruddy!e had a big sleep this morning - i'll leave it a bit longer and see if i can manage to get her to have a nap with me
Ahh thanks girls you make me feel better - and the doctor did say that normally babies with a temp that high are distressed but CJ looked pretty chipper. She has a throat and ear infection so we have antibiotics (she seemed to think we had done well to get to almost 12 months without any other scripts - but I am a bit wary of antibiotics and would rather she hadn't needed them for much longer). She is certainly a good hot water bottle at the moment! Now I just need to work out how to give her the medicine easily - she won't take anything off a spoon so that is out, and the syringe isn't great - I am sure I saw a thread on here recently so must go hunt that down.
Just running out the door, but wanted to pop in for you Vic. I find the easiest way to give Kyson panadol is to put it in the syringe and then let him grab the end of it and he puts it in his mouth. Then I squirt it so some goes in his mouth. He enjoys doing it this way and it saves a fight. Unfortunately when he is half asleep (in the middle of the night) he won't do it that way and I struggle to get anything into him without a fight. It's almost easiest to wait until he is crying and squirt it into the side of his mouth (the side so he doesn't inhale it...).

Vic: Sorry CJ is crook. Interesting what the dr said! I would've thought it's not odd for a kid to get to 12 months without needing ABs if they're an only child and not in childcare. Especially a breastfed one. Natalie got to 18 months before needing ABs! (But she was a summer baby.) From what I understand, their immunity drops some in the second year and that's when they're most susceptible to bugs etc. Sounds like she's coping well. When I was giving Phoebe the ABs I would use the syringe and try to just be over-the-top nice and bubbly about it... and quick, LOL! Sometimes she'd cry but I usually found that was because I'd done it too quickly and it gave her a shock.

Phoebe's pattern of late is to only have one day sleep () then crash by 7pm. Then she wakes around 10:30 and is very unsettled until midnight. After that she may sleep for a while (the other night I got 6 hours in a row! WOOHOO!) but usually it's 3 or 4. Then she sleeps in til around 7:30, but Natty gets up anytime after 5:45. She comes into our bed but has never been good at sleeping with us - tosses and turns and carries on a treat.
Anyway, I digress! I hope things come together ok for the party - I am sure everything will be wonderful. Remember to take time to enjoy it yourself, and watch E and take plenty of photos!

Sorry to hear about your having to do things alone. FWIW I do know the feeling - it sucks big ones. DH was so caught up with work when Natty was small he just had no idea how draining it was to get up to her so often at night and then have to function through the day. Now he has a better idea and is more supportive. There is hope yet, babe.
LOL @ getting down to 10 degrees overnight! You are such a Queenslander Things aren't much cooler here as yet, but I can feel winter coming with great trepidation. Phoebe has had a cold for about 3 weeks. I am wondering when I'll be able to take her for her 12mo vax - I just don't think she's going to be well anytime soon.

[COLOR="rgb(153, 50, 204)"]Snacks[/COLOR] - I agree I would have thought quite common to get to CJ's age without needing antibiotics (I studied Microbiology at Uni and learning about the development of resistance in antibiotics in that really put me off using them unless absolutely necessary (unfortunately I used alot of medications in my teenage years for acne but really I think were unnecessary and may have caused issues with me trying to get rid of sinus infections and funny stomach sometimes)) - CJ has been to occasional day care two mornings the past couple of weeks - so I wonder if that has exposed her to more germs than normal - although I suspect with her is because she is now crawling so is making more contact with the floor and I have tended to be of opinion that a bit of dirt won't harm anyone.
Syringe hasn't worked too well so far - putting it in a bit of weetbix seems to work better - oh well 3 times a day for 7 days min, will be an expert soon enough!
Vic, im not doctor (lol) but id DEF say she caught it from daycare.... Jade started going 2 months ago and has pretty much had a constant cold since! and that was before she was crawling and stuff...i guess its good for them to be exposed to stuff but not much fun for mummys

I have been trying to build Phoebe's cake - I'm a complete nutter. I am trying to do a rubber duckie and it's not really coming together too well! BUT I also piped some meringues shaped like ducks and ... they ROCK!!! LOL. So tired.

Hi everyone! Seems I'm a tad defective. lol.
Had an eye test on the weekend, and I'm going to be the newest member of the sexy spexy club (a.k.a - I need glasses).
Just for reading though.
Apparently, I'm long sighted in one eye and have been since birth!! AMAZING! Never ever have I noticed any issues with my vision... but during the test is was quite obvious. Even the bloke testing me couldn't believe it. LOL.
I don't know much about what he was telling me... trying to find someone who does?
Apparently my left eye is +4 and my right is +12?? lol. Also my eye pressures are only just within the normal range so I have to go back for another test in 12 months! OMG one of the parts of my body that I thought was functioning properly, and I was wrong. LOL
That along with spraining my ankle at netball, (and trying to be tough and playing another quarter only to aggravate my poor knee) and I didn't have a fantastic weekend. Well, the pub crawl made up for it. Hoping that the incriminating pics don't make it to FB. LOL.
Anyway... that's enough excitement from me. Allira's doing a run/jog now and she's just doing so many more things than I thought a 12 month old did. Lachie's head is still bruised, but he's been ok. I tell you what though... nearly 3 year old boys are hard work. I hope that doesn't scare too many of you. haha. I won't go into details in case I do. lol.

just started another FB event - i know some of you can't make the zoo trip, and there was talk of doing a kris kringle type thing for the kidlets then - rather than some of the kidlets missing out cos they can't be there, i started a seperate KK event - if anyone wants to participate, i'm happy to coordinate it (i get the joy of coordinating the family one each year and love it - so i'm happy to do this one!)
Still planning to come to the zoo but am in on the KK event too - I have an interview tomorrow so need to do research for that - hopefully will get a job soon then I can do a massive post!!!
We're in for the KK - AND coming to Melb for 5-6 days, going to our Zoo Day, the aquarium, the Titanic Exhibition and a bit of shopping
We'll have an apartment (yet to book) but plan to book one in the city somewhere so that can be our wet weather option
